Elite Express vs. The Machines

The Express aren't established enough yet.

Rising Stars vs. School of Tradition w/ Laura Huggins

Andrews is in line for a big push, and Joey can make it big with a chance.

Art Reed w/ Blonde Bombshell vs. Merle O'Curle

Merle remains a jobber for now.

Hell Monkey vs. Tommy Cornell

No, seriously.

Conquering Kings w/ Alanis Springsteen vs. Easy Riders w/ Carl Batch

Remains a face vs. heel match for the championships.

Danny Fonzarelli vs. Remo Richardson w/ Phil Vibert

Keep Remo strong after his big debut win.

American Buffalo w/ Floyd Goldworthy vs. Rick Law

It's his show, after all.

What Regis said

Rising Stars vs. School of Tradition w/ Laura Huggins

Could go either way here but I'll for the Rising Stars.

Art Reed w/ Blonde Bombshell vs. Merle O'Curle

Midcarder over Jobber

Hell Monkey vs. Tommy Cornell

Another match where someone will raise their game to give Cornell and unexpectantly tough test but ultimately come up short.

Conquering Kings w/ Alanis Springsteen vs. Easy Riders w/ Carl Batch

Easy Riders are the new number one contenders for the Tag Titles, so they should be kept strong.

Danny Fonzarelli vs. Remo Richardson w/ Phil Vibert

No way Remo loses in his first proper singles match.

American Buffalo w/ Floyd Goldworthy vs. Rick Law

The Lawman defeats TCW's biggest jobber.

Elite Express vs. The Machines

It has to be said...

These four men have to be considered among the planet's premier tag teams. While the Express are still struggling to build an American following, they are, nonetheless, exceptional competitors with an innate understanding of one another's strategies.

And this match will probably help; the Machines may have reached a point where only their alliance, their brotherhood, keeps them a team, but they nonetheless have issues with the Express, who aren't afraid to pull any trick they have to – any trick at all.

Nonetheless, however, the Machines are, ultimately, good enough; an Ammo Dump for Nate Johnson followed by the King of the Hill leads to the win.

http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm75/trenchcoatbrigand/TCW/BrentHill.jpg

Brent Hill immediately rolls to a seated position on the apron and calls for a microphone. Once one is tossed to him, he pulls himself upright, looking back to the entrance. “Johnny!” he calls. “Johnny Bloodstone – I want a word.”

http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm75/trenchcoatbrigand/TCW/JohnnyBloodstone_alt2.jpghttp://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm75/trenchcoatbrigand/TCW/BlondeBombshell.jpg

It takes a few moments, but Johnny Bloodstone emerges, Canadian World Heavyweight Championship belt around his waist, Blonde Bombshell by his side.

Hill pauses a moment, then shrugs. “What the hell,” he says. “You don't ask, you don't get – it worked last time.

“We know you're not going to be settling your score with Troy this month. But those belts... they're coming together sooner or later, right?”

Bloodstone nods slowly.

“Well,” Brent says, “the way I see it, you helped make Cornell tap. You're wearing a belt. You're as much a champion as Troy...

“So I want to be your first defence...” A grin. “And just maybe, your last defence.”

Bloodstone looks at him for a long moment, then turns to look at the Bombshell, who's looking back at him.

Simultaneously they break into broad smiles.

“I'll take that as a yes?” Hill asks, and Bloodstone nods, eyes gleaming.

Rising Stars vs. School of Tradition w/ Laura Huggins

Hard fought, this, and close – so very close. Neither side gives an inch, but given their alliances and history, that's unsurprising.

The Stars have two big problems; first, Joel Bryant is one of those people who understands tag teams far better than any of the younger men, having spent so much of his career aligned with one man or another. And, second, Laura Huggins is becoming a constant presence; active, vocal, coming close, causing distraction after distraction

But Andrews and Minnesota rally back, with Minnesota handling the final moments, scooping Sean Deeley up for the Empire Spiral.

http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm75/trenchcoatbrigand/TCW/FreddyHuggins.jpg

Freddy Huggins arrives as he has so often at that moment and goes for the Huggins Kiss – and Deeley catches it full in the face! Laura Huggins screams in what might be panic or indignation in the long, still moment where everyone realises what just happened, before they react.

The Empire Spiral follows and Aaron Andrews tosses Freddy from the ring – and blocks Bryant's interference with a spinebuster. As Eugene Williams makes the three count, Rhodes and Saunders get into an argument over whether or not Huggins was aiming for Minnesota... or Deeley.

Hell Monkey vs. Tommy Cornell

Once again, one of 'the best of the rest' faces up with Cornell.

And once again, the results are fantastic – even taking Tommy Cornell into account. Aaron Andrews seemed to have youth, determination, and fire on his side. He had an understanding of Tommy's style gleaned from years wrestling in the company the man owns.

And that was how he gave Cornell the battle he did; he knew Tommy. He fights in ways that are derived, partly, from Tommy Cornell.

Hell Monkey doesn't have that knowledge, but his unique blend of brutal throws and slams with incredible airtime and astonishing flying abilities means that Cornell finds himself dealing with someone he just doesn't understand, and the battle causes serious issues for him for quite a while.

He's lucky, ultimately, that the Tumbling Monkey misses, wiping Hell Monkey out. As he staggers back to his feet, Cornell grabs him and lands the Rough Ride – and that's all she wrote.

Easy Riders w/ Carl Batch

The bell rings, and Clark Alexander comes off the second rope with a dropkick, staggering Peter Hopper.

And the Kings capitalise on that in the early going, showing how fast their teamwork is evolving, doing their level best to keep the big men off balance. Springsteen at ringside is vocal, encouraging them, offering advice – somewhat lewd advice – while Carl Batch is a silent presence in his team's corner.

After a little while, Batch grabs the second rope near a Barry Kingman who's attempting to make Billy Fonda submit. Kingman reacts instantly, releasing the hold, turning toward him – and Hopper takes his head off with a boot.

Just as quickly as that, the tide turns. The Riders brutalise both men in short order, eventually picking Kingman back up to land the Emergency Stop and guarantee themselves a pinfall.

The cameras go backstage at this point; Mayhem Midden's... well, office is too grand a term. He's got his feet up on the desk, as has Charlie Thatcher, and the two men are watching proceedings with beer cans clutched in their hands.

http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm75/trenchcoatbrigand/TCW/RickyDaleJohnson.jpg

Midden smiles at the camera and opens his mouth, about to begin a promo – and the door swings open. He breaks off, glancing up to see Ricky Dale Johnson standing there, frowning.

“Can I help you, Ricky?” Midden asks, reaching down beside his chair. “Beer?” He proffers a can.

RDJ shakes his head. “You know,” he says quietly, “I've been in and out of the title picture in TCW for the past, what, four years?

“And then you come along, and I haven't had a single shot since. Why is that?”

Midden frowns slightly, and opens his mouth. RDJ continues.

“I haven't had a shot at a shot,” he says. “You just had a battle royale... and I'm overlooked... but Eric Tyler gets in? You let Chris Rockwell take a shot at getting away from me?

“I'll tell you this, Ken. If I'd been in there... Remo would've had a harder time of it.

“I'm a former champion, Ken. I'm not demanding respect... but I'd like a chance to earn some.”

Danny Fonzarelli vs. Remo Richardson w/ Phil Vibert

Fonzie... does his best.

Remo, however, just goes for him. Egged on by Phil, taunting the crowd, causing a huge backlash from the fans, he close to destroys his opponent then caps it off with the Destroyer.

His pincover uses a single hand on Fonzie's chest, and he gets away with it.

American Buffalo w/ Floyd Goldworthy vs. Rick Law

Pretty short, pretty sweet; the Buffalo goes after the still-hurting Law from the off, keeping him off balance, continuing to dish out pain as hard and fast as he can. The two are awkward together, it has to be said, but they do their best to rise above that.

It takes a while before the Total Lawman, as some call him, turns the tide, but he does, even managing to get Buffalo off his feet for the Squad Car Slam – though Buffalo powers out, nonetheless. Law promptly kicks him in the gut and hits the ropes for the Long Arm of the Law – starts off the ropes -

http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm75/trenchcoatbrigand/TCW/EricTyler.jpg

- runs headlong into a chair swung by Eric Tyler. Sam Sparrow calls an immediate DQ and tries to wrench the chair from Tyler's hands...

Law makes it back to his feet while Tyler's still trying to wrest the chair from Sam Sparrow, and promptly flattens Tyler with a big punch.

He calls for a microphone, frowning heavily. “OK,” he says. “Fine. You and me, we finish this. Crunch Time, I'm going to finish this.”

It's not a typical Rick Law speech. Not at all.

And he stands silently over Eric Tyler as the show closes out.

Saturday 27th October 2008

Been on the phone with Cliff Anderson most of the morning, talking things over. Ultimately, it's time to bring back some of our developmental prospects; nowhere near all, but we need a few new faces. The pecking order needs altering, somewhat.

I've talked, I think, before now about giving people multiple developmental stints – as with Natural Talent, who are now in their second short stint with Cliff, Steve, Pete, Bairei, Louis and Masutaro, and who will hopefully return to us in a more successful form, having had a chance to fade from the public's memories of them as permanent losers in the division.

We're bringing up another tag team for the first time at the moment – two young lads who Randall Hopkirk will be managing, to both give the division a couple more faces to counterbalance the heel teams and give Randall something to do. He remains a solid talker, and indeed since retiring from active competition it seems like he's taken measures to step up his game in that regard.

So the question is, do I send a couple of the tag lads down for a bit more polish? If I do, who heads down?

This is why, when Cliff and I talk, it takes us half the day.

Choices, always choices. Who's ready for callup? Out of that group, who will fit into the roster at the moment? Or who could be repackaged so that they would? (Not everyone fits every gimmick. Sean Deeley was a perfect fit for the School of Tradition. A couple of the other guys working under Cliff right now – Des Davids being an obvious one; not to knock him at all – could not have fitted into Eric's stable at all, and I'd have ended up using... I don't know; someone veteran, probably, to be Joel's new partner – which wouldn't be leading to the current angle...)

Marc Speed is, I believe, ready to be a solid member of the roster. But there's nowhere, right now, that I could put him which would help him; so he's going to be passed over for a little while yet.

Not that Marc will come in beating everyone; we'll still need to establish him. But he's likely to do well, at least, from the beginning.

It's everyone's Trending Topic on Twitter, one way or another. It's a buzzword. It's irritating to read that kind of bragging, right?

We thought so too. So let's just cut to the chase. What will Crunch Time deliver Sunday night on Pay-Per-View?

Ricky Dale Johnson's name is synonymous with TCW, and while he's been away from the championship of late, his win rate is as stunning as it always has been. Called out by Chris Rockwell this past month, he's in position to pay the motormouth back - but a loss here cut could those championship dreams short once again and hand them to Rockwell, and for all that Rockwell has an ego, his talent is undeniable.

They won the Tag Team Contendership tournament. Hell, they've practically crushed everyone in their way throughout the month. The Easy Riders have a new manager and a new - no, not new, but intensified - attitude, and they're coming right at the New Wave. Meanwhile, the Wave weathered the storm that was the School of Tradition - maybe they can hold out against these destructive forces?

This next grudge made it to pay-per-view before now, but that wasn't enough to settle it. This time, however, tempers are running hotter. When Rick Law gets into the ring with Eric Tyler - under stipulations, named by Tyler following Law's challenge, that we've just been told are Last Man Standing - can that end the bad blood running through Badge of Honor? Can anything?

Edd Stone has been a surprisingly durable champion for someone who seems so carefree about planning his defences. But Frankie Perez, for such a newcomer, has been proving himself every time, win or lose. With the All-Action Championship on the line, will Perez prove himself in victory or acquit himself well in defeat?

A rematch from last month, where it rapidly became a DQ; the Disrespected will again take on Wolf Hawkins and Sammy Bach. Bach really does seem to be racking up those favours with the Syndicate's favourite son, doesn't he?

John Anderson has let it be known that he will be making an open challenge to defend the International Championship at Crunch Time, his one stipulation being that the challenger may not have another match at the show.

His ally, Brent Hill, has garnered himself a different title match; Johnny Bloodstone's... claim to the... World Heavyweight Championship will be on the line against Brent Hill. Sooner or later, the World Heavyweight Championship will be fully reunited - but Brent Hill has a chance to buy a ticket to that dance on Sunday.

Their war has been the most dangerous thing seen on TCW for the last three months. Tyson Baine is truly unstoppable... Unless you're Eddie Peak. But Peak can't get the upper hand either; and now, they've taken to weaponry. A six-foot long steel chain, links one inch across, will be legal in their match at Crunch Time. Surely, one behemoth or the other will fall...

In eleven years of HGC and TCW, the Test of Steel has been employed only nine times. It's said that the Board of Representatives once ruled that, as they did not believe more than one rivalry worthy of it could possibly emerge within a single year, it can never be defended more than once in a calendar year - but it has been employed still less often. Sam Keith. Tommy Cornell. We honestly don't believe we need to say any more.

And in the main event, the World Heavyweight Champion, once and thus by tradition present, Troy Tornado, defends his stake and his new title belt against Jeremy Stone of the Syndicate and Phil Vibert's lethal, brutal, potentially unstoppable 'supreme specimen' Remo Richardson. Has the Triple-Threat Champion finally bitten off more than he can chew?

You know, I've gotta say - if I lived in the C-Verse, I would HAVE to order this one on PPV. I've felt that since about Hotter Than Hell, though, so YMMV.

The one thing I can say, really, is that currently, five of the advance booked matches rate A* Heat. I have a suspicion we'll burn folks out, but it's worth the shot.

No, I concur. You've done a great job of putting together matches I would actually love to see, and with storylines that make them feel important.

I wouldn't worry too much about the A* rated advance booking. I've had that happen a few times and it doesn't seem to kill things off in my experience.

<em>So tempted to go for Keith to get the big emotional victory here but my head says Tommy C. </em></p><p> </p><p>

TCW World Heavyweight Championship (Standing Champion)*</p><p>

<strong>Troy Tornado (c</strong>) vs. Jeremy Stone vs. Remo Richardson w/ Phil Vibert</p><p> </p><p>

<em>Out of the two 'World' Title matches this is the one where I think the belt is most likely to change hands but I still see Tornado emerging from this match still the champion despite the tough task he has in front of him.</em></p>

<p>I've been lax in my horrible predicting... so here goes... even if I'm not a fan of the name Crunch Time it's got a good logo and a great card.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Chris Rockwell</strong> vs. Ricky Dale Johnson</p><p>

<em>- RDJ is getting older and Rockwell ain't young either... so I think now is the time to push Rockwell while RDJ has enough cache with the fans to rebound... eventually... maybe.</em></p><p> </p><p>

TCW Tag Team Championship</p><p>

LAST MAN STANDING</p><p>

Eric Tyler w/ Laura Huggins vs. <strong>Rick Law</strong></p><p>

<em>- I'm not a fan of Law but he needs a feel good win at this point to put some closure on this feud.</em></p><p> </p><p>

TCW All Action Championship</p><p>

Edd Stone © vs. <strong>Frankie Perez</strong></p><p>

<em>- Edd's established himself as a fun-loving goofball. This will help establish Perez as a viable threat while Edd will happily go fight someone else or disappear to party for a month or chat up the souvenir babe or...</em></p><p> </p><p>

The Disrespected vs. <strong>Sammy Bach & Wolf Hawkins</strong></p><p>

<em>- Sorry the Disrespected just are not in the same class as Bachkins.</em></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>New Wave ©</strong> vs. Easy Riders w/ Carl Batch</p><p>

<em>Starting a new feud, as the New Wave become the first team to stop the Riders.</em></p><p> </p><p>

<em>Stone's had it for long enough, and this makes for a good feud. Besides, Frankie deserves to finally win something.</em></p><p> </p><p>

The Disrespected vs. <strong>Sammy Bach & Wolf Hawkins</strong></p><p>

<em>This feud is entirely one sided, and for good reason; Bach and Hawkins are the future, while Grayson and Powell aren't good for much outside of jobbing.</em></p><p> </p><p>

TCW International Championship</p><p>

<strong>John Anderson</strong> vs. ????</p><p>

<p>I'm trying not to comment too much on predictions while contests are still open, but there's a couple things I feel are worth mentioning here.</p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="Beeker" data-cite="Beeker" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="23671" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>I've been lax in my horrible predicting... so here goes... even if I'm not a fan of the name Crunch Time it's got a good logo and a great card.</div></blockquote><p> </p><p> Shoulda mentioned this - logo credit, as ever, goes to hakk99. Crunch Time is, I'll concede, not a great name - but this event was previously called Threatening Behaviour and I have the same kinda issue with that I do with Just Another Day? - they both sound like stuff that's, well, kinda default in the world of pro wrasslin'.</p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="Tigerkinney" data-cite="Tigerkinney" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="23671" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>Wow, this really is a stacked card !!</div></blockquote><p> </p><p> Ayup. Part of this is that Crunch Time, as a rebranding, should be kicked off with a big hard-sell, to my mind. Part of it's that we're beginning to build the Road to Malice in Wonderland here, too. And part of it is that I'm getting wildly overenthusiastic. </p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="Regis" data-cite="Regis" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="23671" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><p> TCW International Championship</p><p> <strong>John Anderson</strong> vs. ????</p><p> <em>Guessing just someone on the roster, not a new guy. Any more debuts are likely to be from developmental for the next little while - I feel like I've got enough talent on the roster. So ???? here is absolutely someone who's with the company and who has been seen in this diary already. Just a mention to clarify, there.</p><p> </p><p> Also, eleven predictions. Holy crap.</p>

Chris Rockwell vs. Ricky Dale Johnson

RDJ kicks off the show and his return to the spotlight.

TCW Tag Team Championship

New Wave © vs. Easy Riders w/ Carl Batch

The New Wave have been champs, like, forever.

LAST MAN STANDING

Eric Tyler w/ Laura Huggins vs. Rick Law

Tyler doesn't need the rub.

TCW All Action Championship

Edd Stone © vs. Frankie Perez

I like Perez, but he doesn't currently seem like a champion to me.

The Disrespected vs. Sammy Bach & Wolf Hawkins

As always... more like The Justifiably Disrespected.

TCW International Championship

John Anderson vs. ????

If this is Ino, I want to see him win a belt. If it's not Ino... eh, question marks!

TCW World Heavyweight Championship (Canadian Belt)*

Johnny Bloodstone © w/ Blonde Bombshell vs. Brent Hill

How could Brent Hill have a Canadian belt?

CHAIN MATCH

Eddie Peak vs. Tyson Baine

I don't think putting Baine over Peak does anyone any good.

TEST OF STEEL

Sam Keith w/ Blonde Bombshell vs. Tommy Cornell

Sam Keith won't be around forever, you know.

TCW World Heavyweight Championship (Standing Champion)*

Troy Tornado © vs. Jeremy Stone vs. Remo Richardson w/ Phil Vibert

Hell, there's no shame in Remo losing this one... but it doesn't exactly give him the push either. And if he wins, how awesome is he?
