TCW: A Quiet Retirement

Recommended Posts

NO DISQUALIFICATION

Eddie Peak vs. Marat Khoklov

I predict Peak will bleed buckets and be insanely resillient but as Regis but it Khoklov is the monster of monsters.

TCW All-Action Championship

Frankie Perez © vs. Art Reed w/ Blonde Bombshell vs. Greg Keith w/ Blonde Bombshell vs. Freddy Huggins w/ Laura Huggins

Don't see Perez dropping the title this early into his reign

TCW Tag Team Championship

New Wave © vs. Easy Riders w/ Carl Batch vs. Stone Brothers

New Wave had a good run with the belts, and they still are the 'best tag team in the world' but it just feels like it should be time for a change and it's time for them to chase the belts.

Remo Richardson w/ Phil Vibert vs. Ricky Dale Johnson

Right now Remo, needs to go over more than RDJ does. RDJ is a TCW icon, he is like Kevlar at this stage, so losing to the hot new acquistion in Remo isn't going to hurt his standing with the TCW fans. Remo however needs to keep winning at this stage.

TCW Hard-Hitting Championship

Sam Keith © w/ Blonde Bombshell vs. Sammy Bach

Bach will give it a good shot but right now he won't be toppling Sam Keith.

TCW International Championship

John Anderson © vs. Texas Pete vs. Wolf Hawkins

Anderson retains to further cement his credentials as a singles competitor, and shake off his 'tag team specialist' image the fans have of him.

Tommy Cornell vs. Troy Tornado (non-title)

I see this ending in a draw, Tornado still looks relatively strong as the champion by not losing to Cornell, but doesn't have the satisfaction of actually defeating Cornell.

TCW World Heavyweight Championship (Canadian belt)

Johnny Bloodstone © w/ Blonde Bombshell vs. Chris Rockwell

Right now I see all the singles champions retaining their belts.

Eddie Peak vs. Marat Khoklov

- Khoklov will win, both he and Peak will bleed like stuck pigs but the Monster from Moscow topples the Great White (and Crimson) Shark

TCW All-Action Championship

Frankie Perez © vs. Art Reed w/ Blonde Bombshell vs. Greg Keith w/ Blonde Bombshell vs. Freddy Huggins w/ Laura Huggins

- Perez likely retains but 4ways are a great way to hotshot a title and giving it to Huggins would drive his sister and Deeley over the edge. Which is why I think it's a fun, solid undercard choice. Plus I mark for Huggins.

TCW Tag Team Championship

New Wave © vs. Easy Riders w/ Carl Batch vs. Stone Brothers

- This is a good place for Jeremy to chill out a while before refocusing on one of the world titles. Plus the New Wave eventually have to lose, this too is a good way to do it. The Riders aren't quite ready for the belts. And the New Wave need to lose eventually. Maybe.

Remo Richardson w/ Phil Vibert vs. Ricky Dale Johnson

- RDJ is on the decline, and might retire possibly, eventually. Remo has a bundle of upside and a win over the Main Event Gatekeeper should help him.

TCW Hard-Hitting Championship

Sam Keith © w/ Blonde Bombshell vs. Sammy Bach

- I like Bach and his new look and he's almost ready for this, but I think Keith slaps on a Proton Lock to keep his improbable title run alive... and further annoy Cornell.

TCW International Championship

John Anderson © vs. Texas Pete vs. Wolf Hawkins

- Leglock Pete isn't ready for this title and Wolf, while over enough and talented enough is far preferable as a whinging prat.

Tommy Cornell vs. Troy Tornado (non-title)

- Non title, makes Tornado look vulnerable, Cornell dangerous (and annoyed as he can't win a title.)

TCW World Heavyweight Championship (Canadian belt)

Johnny Bloodstone © w/ Blonde Bombshell vs. Chris Rockwell

- Rockwell snaps, loses it and gets DQed.

Eddie Peak vs. Marat Khoklov

Shawn Doakes rises as the two men face off outside the ring. “Ladies and Gentlemen,” he begins, “your attention please. Due to the nature of the conflict we expect from these two men, we strongly recommend that those of you seated in the first three to five rows exercise caution whenever the fight nears you.

“We are thinking only of your safety as we say this. Thank you.”

What unfolds lives up to that warning. The pair treat their match as almost an excuse for rampaging around the ringside area, and the ring itself doesn't feature until quite late on in the match.

A notable moment, early, sees Peak charge Khoklov on the outside, only for the Russian's massive paw of a hand to clamp around his neck, cutting him off short. The two men hold that pose for a moment, then Khoklov, with a roar, swings his hand – and Eddie Peak sails, off a one-handed chokeslam, over the guardrail and into the first row. Seats buckle and snap; visible through the rest of the match are Dome workers ferrying replacement chairs to those who need them.

Peak, already bloody, recovers enough for Khoklov to drag him back over the guardrail, and manages to get away. When he comes back to the fight the chain is wrapped around his fist.

And that makes the exchange of punches about even. Peak hammers away at the Russian's head, frenzied, but even with the chain wrap Khoklov's skin doesn't break. Khoklov tries for the Moscow Lariat, and Peak ducks it, looping the chain around his arm.

He begins to work on Khoklov's massive right arm, wrenching at the shoulder, working it over. The brawl eventually filters into the ring, and Marat, with a herculean effort, snaps the chain – then boots Peak to the mat and splashes him, before getting back up. He pulls Peak up and whips him to the corner, then crashes into him with the Moscow Lariat.

The arena goes silent. All that work Peak did, and Khoklov didn't even flinch after hitting the move.

He scoops Peak up again, and lifts him into the air for a powerbomb – and, in what Jason Azaria will later describe as one of the most surreal moments of his announcing career, Eddie Peak rolls forward, spilling down Khoklov's back, dragging the monster into a sunset flip. The impact is loud, and evidently shocks Khoklov – his kickout doesn't come until a hair after the two count.

Immediately after, however, Peak is turned inside out by another Moscow Lariat. Khoklov reaches down, planting one hand on each shoulder, anchoring him for the pinfall.

vs. Freddy Huggins w/ Laura Huggins

How do you keep up with a match like this? It's not really possible, and while the commentary team do their best, they concentrate instead on conveying how the match feels. Reed and Keith work almost as a team, switching opponents frequently, switching up pace, brawling, taking it to the mat, and generally doing their bit to damage people.

Perez has one thing in his sights, meanwhile, and whenever Reed isn't blocking him it's what he focuses on; the injured arm of Greg Keith, worked over by the Enforcers on Friday.

And Huggins? Huggins seems energised simply by having been chosen to be in this match. He comes out practically furious, swinging, kicking, leaping, twisting... It's his best performance in months.

Nonetheless, there's one factor that really makes the difference here; having brought Keith to the mat, Perez clamps down with the P-Clutch and, as Reed attempts to break it up, manages to kick him loose. Huggins, not having noticed the submission, tries to take Reed out, and Greg taps before either spare man can break it up.

http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm75/trenchcoatbrigand/TCW/Remo.jpghttp://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm75/trenchcoatbrigand/TCW/PhilVibert.jpg

Backstage we go, and as Remo lightly works with a speed bag in the background Phil Vibert reclines in a plush leather armchair. On his lap is the spiral-bound notepad that seems to go with him everywhere, and he is, once again, clearly in the middle of taking notes on the All-Action Division match.

However, as the replays finish on his screen, to be replaced with him in shot, Phil turns to the camera and smiles.

“Good to see you,” he says. “Now, let me make a few things clear.

“Ricky Dale Johnson has framed this for us as a battle between TCW and... the interloper behind me.” He smiles. “I can see his point. TCW has been very good to Ricky. It took him in when the TWL folded. Gave him a national platform. He's been here the past, what, nearly twelve years? It must have been very rewarding, Ricky. Very... lucrative.” He spreads his hands. “And that's all Remo and I are asking, Ricky. We'll make TCW a pile of money. We just plan to take that pile from here... and more, if we can figure out how.

“But it's not really about that, as far as I can see. TCW's gallant defender, RDJ, is... behind the times. Understandable; he'd risen to the top of another company before he came here. He's been here over a decade. He probably feels intimidated by the new wave of talent sweeping the company.

“You say you're fighting for TCW's honour, Ricky? Can you define what that is? Can you even define TCW?”

He sits forward suddenly, expression dead serious. “Let me do you a favour, Ricky. Let me define this company for you.

“TCW took Sam Strong and Rip Chord and Liberty and BLZ Bubb and a young kid by the name of Ricky Dale. TCW took the Nation of Filth and the Vesseys and the Darkness Warriors and a couple of kids by the names of Troy Tornado and Wolf Hawkins.

“TCW has always taken talented wrestlers into its heart, Ricky. It's what it does. It's how it works. We have Koshiro Ino here. We have Eric Tyler, and Johnny Bloodstone. We have Jeremy Stone and Sean Deeley and Aaron Andrews and the Easy Riders. We have the Elite Express and the Keith twins and the British Lions and...” Settling back, he waves a hand. “You get the picture. But this, Ricky – this is what TCW does. It takes the best unsigned youngsters – like Wolf, like Aaron – and the best established teams – like my old favourites the New Wave – and the biggest legends – like Sam Keith – and it puts them together and lets them see what happens.

“TCW is the wrestling Mecca that it is because anyone who can handle it is welcome here, and because anyone who can't can come here and find out they can't in short order.

“We've come here, Ricky, and we can handle it. Can you?”

The Stone Brothers

For the first time in some months, the tag title match actually outclasses what came before. Given how loaded with talent the ring is, this really should come as no surprise, but nonetheless – it's a point worth making.

There are three men in the ring at any given time – at minimum. It's often out of hand here, but one of the things that keeps it together is that only one man ever wants to break up a pin or a submission.

Edd Stone and Guide compete to be the fastest into the ring Jeremy Stone and Scout seem to relish the thought of working together on the mat. The Riders just want to hurt people. In pro wrestling, this can be considered something of a winning formula.

Fairly early on, we learn that YOU CAN'T EMERGENCY STOP EDD STONE! The resourceful master of Edd-Fu waits until he's actually tossed into the air for the sitout powerbomb-neckbreaker, at which point he uses his momentum to dropkick Billy Fonda in the head and flip backward, delivering an inverted DDT to Peter Hopper.

He promptly tags out to his brother, who tosses Fonda from the ring with the Stone's Throw and locks the Stone Hold down on Hopper. Hopper fights it for a long time, and it looks like Fonda will actually make it back in to break the hold, but a Guided Missile prevents that.

ELIMINATION #1: EASY RIDERS

Edd promptly leaps into a Party's Over, dropping Guide, but Scout manages to cut Jeremy off from applying the Stone Hold, and the reigning champions battle back courageously.

All four men end up in the ring simultaneously, and things go a little crazy for a while. By the time they're properly cleared up, Guide and Jeremy are brawling on the outside – near a surly-looking pair of Easy Riders – and Scout manages to block the Party's Over, promptly applying the Special Force to squeeze out the submission.

The Riders promptly rush the ring, attacking Scout again. Edd joins in as soon as he recovers; Guide goes to his partner's aid, but as Jeremy is close on his tail, it doesn't help much.

Shut Me Up by Mindless Self Indulgence hits, and the Keith Brothers sprint down to the ring. The brawl turns from a one-sided affair to a fairly balanced one, particularly as one of the Keiths is entirely fresh, and there's a brief standoff before TCW event staff hit the ring to pry the four teams apart.

Remo Richardson w/ Phil Vibert vs. Ricky Dale Johnson

It's an old-fashioned Southern scorcher of a match, this; the pair keep it to the brawl that everyone wants, full of emotion, and with just enough big moments (biggest of them all being RDJ's Leaping Lariat from the top turnbuckle to Remo standing outside the ring) to keep it from getting boring.

Phil Vibert seems to be everywhere, watching, quietly acting from time to time. Stumbling backward after a headbutt from Remo, RDJ finds that the ring steps have migrated from the corner and are right behind him, thereby tumbling over them. Vibert is nowhere near, but his smirk tells the story readily.

It's a surprisingly even contest, and eventually RDJ starts to have the advantage, getting his knees up to block a corner splash by Remo and stepping forward to go for the Southern Justice.

He seems to hesitate – a replay will later show that Vibert had hold of one boot – and Remo turns and twists, breaking the hold – but he had his own grip on RDJ, who now finds himself up for the Destroyer.

The Destroyer hits home and Remo covers, securing the pinfall with a scowl that quickly turns to a smirk. Phil Vibert simply nods to himself.

Sam Keith © w/ Blonde Bombshell vs. Sammy Bach

Sammy Bach has two strengths going into this that Sam Keith does not – the resilience of youth and his sheer innovative speed – and he makes full use of both. Sam Keith, meanwhile, remains Sam Keith, easily one of the best wrestlers of the past three decades.

The result never seems to let up on speed, even when Keith has Bach on the canvas – not something that happens often in the contest – and is cranking on an arm to set up for the Proton Lock.

Bach always manages to squirm free, however, and as a springboard into a corkscrew diving punch shows, he's just about holding on despite the pain – in fact, it looks like he might have the measure of the legend.

He whips him to the corner, hitting Keith on the rebound with a superkick, and crosses to the other side of the ring. The fans know what's coming – Bach's signature springboard coast-to-coast bulldog – and he just waits for Keith to regain his feet which, little by little, he does. Bach leaps -

Sam Keith whirls and catches him in midair, bringing him to the mat in the NeutronPlex, all in one flowing motion. The crowd explodes, the sound so loud that the sound of the referee's hand hitting the mat for the third time can't really be made out.

Backstage, and Wolf Hawkins is warming up, watching the monitor. Tommy Cornell, behind him, snorts. “Should have been your match,” he comments. Hawkins doesn't look back, but his face twists, clearly sick of this conversation.

In the tone of a man repeating a statement without much hope of it taking, he says “I owed the guy a favour. I still owe him one.”

“You would've beaten Sam, you know,” Cornell continues. Hawkins wheels, abruptly.

“Blow it out your ass, Tommy,” he says. “The Syndicate gets a belt tonight. Send the Enforcers in if you have to. Not like I need them.

“We can't afford to fight among ourselves. Remember when we used to have complete trust?” He locks eyes with Cornell, who returns the stare for a few moments, then smirks.

“What happened to that, anyway?” Cornell offers, trying to make light of it.

“You started holding auditions.” Hawkins leaves.

John Anderson © vs. Texas Pete vs. Wolf Hawkins

Fast and furious; the hallmark of the show so far, in all honesty, but with slightly shifting styles.

This one is mostly a shifting array of holds and counters, with Texas Pete bulldozing his way through them from time to time. He even mixes up in a couple of the mat sequences, but Anderson and Hawkins are both clearly superior – they just don't have his strength.

Pete goes after Wolf exclusively after a few minutes, and Anderson takes a breather, relieved. Pete's furious assault soon has the Syndicate prodigy bleeding, and he doesn't let up from there. Referee Sam Sparrow gives all his attention to this.

That predictably gives the Enforcers the opening they wanted, beating down Anderson before delivering another Gojira Falls and rolling out of the ring. Jack Marlowe shows up in Pete's line of sight, allowing Hawkins sufficient distraction for a punch to the guts followed by a DDT, and Hawkins promptly goes for the cover on Anderson – but Pete yanks him off, and a couple of moments later has Hawkins up in the air. The Lone Star Drop gets blocked, and Wolf gets clear – Full Moon Rising connects and Pete – well, he almost stays upright, but the stagger is enough for Anderson to get the Ammo Dump.

Wolf lunges for Anderson – Anderson ducks the clothesline – both men turn – dropkick from Anderson! Ammo Dump! The former Syndicate man covers Wolf Hawkins – one, two, three!

Tommy Cornell vs. Troy Tornado

These two remain... awkward... in the ring together... but the thing is, that's 'awkward' by the standards of Tommy and Troy. The grudge contest, as it appears to be, goes and goes, with both men moving fast, circling, calculating.

Troy fights like a man possessed here, but then, as Midden notes, “It's Troy who's tryin' to prove the point here. Tommy just wants to stay on top.”

And Cornell is... Cornell is actually giving ground. Cornell is... yes, as the minutes tick by, Cornell is slowly but surely getting the worse of the fight.

Super Star Maker from the top rope! That's got to be it!

One, two – NO!

http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm75/trenchcoatbrigand/TCW/TysonBaine_nachtfalter16.jpg

Tyson Baine pulls Troy bodily out of the ring. Ray Johnson is on the brink of calling for the bell, but Troy signals for him not to. Punch from Troy. Another. Another. Baine backs up a step – and headbutts Tornado so hard that the champion drops immediately. By the time he sits up, his head is bleeding slightly from the impact.

Baine rolls him back into the ring. Cornell, with a long smirk at Johnson, drops to his knees beside Tornado and makes the cover.

One, two – NO!

Tornado kicks out!

Disgusted, Cornell throws him back out of the ring. Johnson looks bound and determined to call for the bell, but this time Mayhem Midden, rising from the announce desk, intervenes.

He's seen something.

http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm75/trenchcoatbrigand/TCW/RickLaw.jpg

What he's seen turns out to be Rick Law, carrying an extended security baton. Arriving at ringside, he holds his hand out to one of the venue security by the guardrail, snapping his fingers, and almost reflexively, the guard hands him a second.

Law grins, long and slow with the camera on him, and twirls the baton in his hands, letting it snap out to full length as he does. The practised ease is obvious.

So armed, Law drives straight into Baine, swinging wildly. Midden cackles in triumph as Law begins to beat the monster down, driving him back from the ring.

Cornell goes after him, but Tornado is there, spinning him around, lifting him and landing the Tornado Driver on the outside.

Slowly but surely, the bloody and battered champion rolls his opponent back into the ring. He climbs to the top rope, sways there for a second, and leaps off into a moonsault, crashing down across Cornell.

One, two – NO!

Frustrated, Tornado heaves Cornell to his feet, and staggers him with something that looks a lot like Steve Gumble's savate kick. To the ropes – Star Maker – Cornell ducks – Rough Ride – Tornado leaps free – STAR MAKER!

ONE, TWO, THREE!

Johnny Bloodstone w/ Blonde Bombshell vs. Chris Rockwell

Chris Rockwell walks to the ring with an entirely impassive expression on his face... a face that's already sweating and pale.

Bloodstone, following, spots this as he comes close enough, squeezes the Bombshell's hand and smirks.

The two start off very, very slow, very cagey. It's almost a full minute before they lock up – at which point Rockwell sweeps Bloodstone's legs out from under him and bounces his head off the mat a couple of times before Bloodstone twists out.

Rockwell is snarling, clearly furious, and Johnny's face has settled into a deadpan mask. They circle again, lockup, shift gears, and Rockwell scores well with a snap suplex, but Bloodstone holds on, trying for a keylock on the arm.

And that's how the contest develops; Rockwell is prone to sudden flights of fury, barely in check, and Bloodstone stays calm, despite the provocation rained down on him by Rockwell.

Chris starts to turn the tide after a while, but is it really enough? Maybe – he certainly does a lot of damage to Bloodstone, who has to scramble to keep up. A paintbrushing slap staggers the champion, and Rockwell promptly dropkicks him directly in the shoulder, setting up for his signature Furusawa armbar.

Bloodstone almost looks furious, but, once again, he's able to get a sight of the Bombshell – and he settles back down into himself. While Rockwell's next assault almost overwhelms him, he manages to roll with it, pinning Rockwell's shoulders to the mat in an improvised pinfall attempt – which lasts just long enough to end the half-hour of back and forth.

Bloodstone and the Bombshell immediately move to celebrate. Rockwell, meanwhile, lies on the mat for a long while, slowly pulling himself back up to a kneeling position. The camera closes in on a wide-eyed, disbelieving stare, and then Rockwell seems to think better of it. He turns toward the entrance ramp, to leave the champ alone – and freezes.

http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm75/trenchcoatbrigand/TCW/Remo.jpghttp://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm75/trenchcoatbrigand/TCW/PhilVibert.jpg

Standing there, watching, smirking, are Remo Richardson and his manager, Phil Vibert.

Rockwell charges in blind-eyed fury. Remo meets him halfway down the ramp, the pair of them throwing punches, kicks, anything they can.

http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm75/trenchcoatbrigand/TCW/RickyDaleJohnson.jpghttp://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm75/trenchcoatbrigand/TCW/TroyTornado_nacht6.jpg

Ricky Dale Johnson slams into the brawl, looking as if he's not sure whether to separate them or help Rockwell against Remo. Both of them turn on him. The three men fight for a long moment, before Troy Tornado re-emerges, freshly bandaged, to cut off Rockwell and fight him. RDJ and Remo stand there for a few moments, still brawling, but Bloodstone arrives on the scene; sensing that the tide has turned, Remo and Rockwell bail, leaving both champions and the long-time face of TCW to play to the crowd.

On the one hand... good show PS.

On the other, if I'd paid for that I'd have been pissed. Not a single title change on a PPV? I even played conservative but still called for 2 - sure one was a pure mark moment but... 0? Really? I'd have wanted a refund regardless of how good the actual matches were.

Interesting... I honestly have to say, this is not a mindset I actually 'get', so to speak. Part of that is just that I like long title reigns; part of it, though, is looking at TCW's title history. In 08 you come in at a point where the Syndicate have locked down the titles other than the All-Action for some time; there are only 2 title changes in the latter half of 2007, both All-Action.

So out of curiosity, and this goes out to everyone willing to answer - what makes a title change so essential to a PPV? What can replace that, if it's not there?

First off, good show. Enjoyed it.

Second, I don't really have an issue with no title changes during a pay per view. I honestly dislike the current WWE mentality that there should be title changes each PPV. That becomes predictable in its own way, and makes the titles less meaningful. Just my opinion.

I don't really care about title changes. The only time you need to change a title-holder should be when you can't think of more programs for the person holding the title.

As for titles changing hands, they should only happen at PPV's once you reach the big leagues, but there shouldn't be ever a guarantee of any amount of title changes.

Oh yeah, great show.

Nice show you had there:).

As for the need of title change on every PPV I don´t see it as necessarily or even a good idea as it would lead to shorter and likely less meaningful title runs plus I fear it might become a little too predictable if you know that at least one title is changing hands in any given PPV.

While some of this won't really apply to a large promotion like TCW, I generally only change the main titles either when I have to for contract reasons, or it is for storyline purposes. I rarely ever change titles just to change them unless the title holder is performing subpar and hurting me overall. In larger promotions I think the title should really only change hands if the storyline would benefit from it, or if the current champion is not able to carry the shows either with angles or matches, and doesn't have challengers that can keep his match quality up. fortunately TCW is blessed with several people who can make Rocky's matches watchable, and Rocky can carry his own angles well enough.

Well, you may have guessed but I'm a bit of a fan of long reigns. You've recently (two months back?) split the World title, but otherwise there's not been too much fuss with the belts. I think it sits well in TCW, anyway, with a genuine feeling of the titles being something worth going for separate from blood feuds and so on.

Phantom your still staying true to TCW. I dont have a problem with the belt switches on PPV. You know even if its a quick swap or transitional champion I dont mind as well as long as it advances a story your telling and I am able to follow along. Keep em coming. I'll be reading.

I don't really mind the lack of title changes, I had it in my mind that A Little South of Sanity - other than one of TCW's actual decently named PPVs - was an important PPV and therefore there might be some switching up of things. Keeping the main belts where they are is fine by me, I just suspected a bit more fluidity for the All-Action title at least due to the nature of the match.

Like I said, it was a very good write-up and I enjoyed it. I was just a touch surprised that coming out of the PPV, TCW looks almost exactly the way it did going into it. It was a minor quibble but it has sparked some lively debate. :D

Indeed it has, and I thank you for that.

The most important of TCW's PPVs are meant to be Malice in Wonderland and Total Mayhem. We appear, though, to have hit the point where I find it difficult not to book marquee matches, so this should get interesting...

Monday 1st December 2008

Maggie's going to kill me.

It's my own fault, really, for making the compromise. Kate's had the contract for a few days now and hasn't got back to us; I'm not going to push her myself, but it's still kind of nervewracking.

Not least because Ricky has Plans. Oh, yes.

The big debate for the last little while has been how we plan to introduce the women to the fans. There are certainly TCW fans who won't be happy no matter how we do it, but the hope is that the rest of our shows will keep them watching and buying tickets, while any we do lose are – so the theory goes – more than offset by creating new fans who want to see women's wrestling.

Ricky has opted to introduce them a couple at a time. We've picked four who we'll be building around at the start – though we'll have to replace Kate if she eventually decides not to sign – and, while the goal is to introduce a Women's Championship early on and separate their storylines out, we're bringing them in in connection to storylines the fans are already invested in.

In short, their initial exposure will tie in to existing storylines.

And, if Kate signs, Ricky has a segment blocked off on a coming Badge of Honor in which I will be back in the ring. Ten years and change after I retired. I haven't even taken a bump in the Danger Zone in the past five years – my participation there these days is entirely from ringside.

So this Monday morning I find myself in TCW's own purpose-built training facility, pretending to Maggie that I'm just in meetings, finding out just how woefully unprepared and rusty I am.

Maggie's going to kill me. I need to figure out a way to dodge this...

There are only two months to go to Malice in Wonderland but, more importantly, we have only eight televised shows before Psycho Circus is upon us, and tensions are already close to boiling over.

Following their intervention after the end of the Tag Team Championship match on Sunday, the Keith Brothers have been challenged by the Easy Riders and the young prodigies have picked up the gauntlet in what promises to be quite th battle.

Sammy Bach, who many are saying could and even - in some cases - should - have defeated Sam Keith for the Hard-Hitting Championship, will take on TCW's own Aaron Andrews. Both men, at the moment, are tipped by many to eventually reach the top, both have recently put on performances deserving of it - the question is, simply, who will triumph on the day?

A newcomer to TCW faces a tough challenge after that, as Sayeed Ali, a noted competitor who's made his name in Canada, will go head to head with Brent Hill of the Machines. We wish Mr Ali luck - there can be few tougher challenges to begin with.

Another battle of young talent will follow, as Sean Deeley and Joey Minnesota square off. This battle may well not be quite so clear-cut, as Deeley has his own issues elsewhere...

For the first time in several months, RDJ teams back up with Danny Fonzarelli, and the pair will face off against practitioners of a different style. The British Lions have claimed, in a recent statement here on tcw.com, that it was their injury to Greg Keith that shaped Frankie Perez' successful title defence on Sunday; certainly, they're in the midst of making quite a name for themselves.

Tommy Cornell will be in action, too, having been specifically requested as an opponent by Rocky Golden for his first match back from injury at the hands of Marat Khoklov. Good idea or bad - we'll see soon enough.

Sam Keith will take on another TCW champion afterward, going head to head with Frankie Perez in a non-title affair. Can Perez raise his standing - and that of his title belt - through the roof?

Lastly, in the main event, the Stone Brothers unite to take on World Heavyweight Champion Troy Tornado and the man who saved him on Sunday, Rick Law. What have the Syndicate got in store for these two men?

Prediction Key:

Easy Riders w/ Carl Batch vs. Keith Brothers w/ Blonde Bombshell

Aaron Andrews vs. Sammy Bach

Brent Hill vs. Sayeed Ali

Joey Minnesota vs. Sean Deeley w/ Laura Huggins

British Lions vs. RDJ & Danny Fonzarelli

Rocky Golden vs. Tommy Cornell

Frankie Perez vs. Sam Keith w/ Blonde Bombshell (non-title)

Easy Riders w/ Carl Batch vs. Keith Brothers w/ Blonde Bombshell

Could go either way but since current champs are face the aligment will be the tie breaker so Easy Riders take this one.

Aaron Andrews vs. Sammy Bach

Bach seems to be getting a bigger push

Brent Hill vs. Sayeed Ali

Though start for Ali indeed infact too though, Hill picks up a win here

Joey Minnesota vs. Sean Deeley w/ Laura Huggins

I likely think a little too high on Minnesota considering that this diary started in TEW 2008 not in 2010 when he is main eventing, but I still go with Minnesota winning with Deeley having other problems.

British Lions vs. RDJ & Danny Fonzarelli

I expect that British Lions take their first win soon but not against RDJ

Rocky Golden vs. Tommy Cornell

Sorry Golden but there is no-way you win here

Frankie Perez vs. Sam Keith w/ Blonde Bombshell (non-title)

Bach losed to Keith and on my opinion he´s better than Perez so I go with Keith here.

Rick Law & Troy Tornado vs. Stone Brothers

Edd Stone seems like a weak link here.

The Riders are on a downswing after their unsuccessful challenge at the PPV.

Aaron Andrews vs. Sammy Bach

After an A-rated match, Sammy can be kept elevated.

Brent Hill vs. Sayeed Ali

JOBBER!

Joey Minnesota vs. Sean Deeley w/ Laura Huggins

Freddy-ference!

British Lions vs. RDJ & Danny Fonzarelli

Fonzie picks up a win to keep him sweet, before he goes back to jobbing.

Rocky Golden vs. Tommy Cornell

Aww, man. Poor Rocky. Not the most promising re-debut ever.

Frankie Perez vs. Sam Keith w/ Blonde Bombshell (non-title)

Not a chance, Frankie.

Rick Law & Troy Tornado vs. Stone Brothers

Woo! Rick can win on something that isn't Badge Of Honour!
