Bigpapa42
What's great is the versatility of these characters. There have been a bunch of SWF diaries, each with their own slant on Christian Faith; unstoppable bad ass, old school veteran, bible-quoting Christian hero... Different flavors and all of them are awesome. I expect personal games have even more varied ideas of who the man is. Different strokes. Whatever gets you hard. Limiting it to "Rip Chord IS Ric Flair" or "Johnny Bloodstone IS Dynamite Kid" just hurts the creative juices. Just sit back and let it flow. Still, I'm right. Faith IS Undertaker. End of discussion Very much agree on the diversity of the characters and how you can interpret them. I do think the real world comparisons can be helpful and even maybe necessary in regular games. I've had some non-diary games that I took pretty serious and booked pretty careful, but none came anywhere near close to the work I've put into the SWF diary game, in terms of characterization, storylines, etc. For myself - and I assume for many games - its easier to spent a few minutes and say that Rich Money = Ted DiBiase and use that as a basic basis, rather than put in the hours it can take to create a custom character template. When it comes to diaries, I do think that using the basic comparison approach is going to limiting. As you say, a writer is taking away so many possibilities from themselves if they are to say that a C-worker is the near-exact equivalent of a real world worker. Rawisericho
I mean I guess we could "sit back and just let it flow" but that would also limit any sort of discussion or creative talks. Yes, there's no right answer for a lot of these guys. Self is focusing on the physical nature of Faith whereas I'm looking at the career path and Christian smilarities. I'm going to list a few more. (This will be cut and dried but hopefully it'll ignite debate) Swoop = The Rock Nathan McKenzie = Matt Morgan

BHK1978
I always get a Chris Jericho vibe when I see Joe Sexy. Granted no sane person would ever make that link because nothing in his bio would back me up. It is just something that I had always thought. And that is why I always push Joe Sexy to the moon! As someone who is noted for giving some personality into the lesser known characters of the C-Verse, I agree that real life comparisons are both necessary and limiting at the same time. I highly recommend doing this for some of your characters when you are starting out adventuring into the world that is the C-Verse has it can be overwhelming at times (though you youngin's got it a whole lot easier than we vets did since you guys can see what we have done with some of the characters), especially when it comes down to actually writing out promos. However, don't be scared to change something about the character that isn't comparable to the real world wrestler you are basing him/her on. It's those tweaks or changes that makes the characters stand out on their own rather than looking like a knock off of the real world character you based him/her off of. ampulator
There will never be another Rock. Although Swoop comes close, I think Swoop's Entertainment Skills (pretty good as they are) are nowhere near the Rock's, while Swoop's Performance Skills overall is better than the Rock's. Derek B
Joe Sexy is almost a carbon copy of Rick Rude! That's why I push him, though he always gets a different style of push when I do it. Sexy is a potential megastar for the SWF thanks to his charisma but he needs a little work on his performance skills to get him there. For his main event push I will (one day) be renaming him to Joseph Lewis Knight (shortened to JLK) and launching him from there. Fits his finisher nicely, just adding a K to make it the One Knight Stand. And Jack Bruce is most similar to Chris Jericho. That's obvious. Greg McNeish
And here I always thought that Jack Bruce was based off of the bass player, and singer of Cream: Jack Bruce. Silly me....
praguepride
Yeah, Jim Force was never meant to be a crazy "Ultimate Warrior" type guy. It's just a few people saw his face paint and decided to make him crazy and it became an inside joke where Jim Force is batsh*t crazy. He is actually interviewed on the c-verse site and he's a pretty normal guy that you could attest to any of the over-muscled hosses from the 80's. Just slap some facepaint on them and you could make the arguement. Kashmir Singh = Khali, because they're both Indian Angry Gilmore = Edge (or Christian..can never remember which..) because they both get injured a lot. Enforcer Roberts = Big Boss Man because they both play cops. If Eric Eisen = Shane McMahon, then who's Jerry? I don't see him and Stephanie being that similar Joe Sexy = Val Venis because of their pornstar gimmick. Zimmy Bumfhole = Xpac because they both look retarded
Greg McNeish
Rick Law plays the cop. Enforcer Roberts is an uncharismatic Arn Anderson, or a more talented Steve Blackman.
Phantom Stranger
Honestly, what this shows is that there's only so much 'basis' there. I always envision Chord as a Roddy Piper - but a Piper with more title reigns, possibly because there's no direct Flair equivalent.
Greg McNeish
Rip Chord also has a lot of similarities to Jake 'The Snake' Roberts. The biggest difference, in my eyes, is that it was later in his career that the drinking caught up with him.
James Casey
You could equally say that Chord is Bret Hart, or Dynamite Kid, or Arn Anderson, or... He was a very good wrestler who topped out in the top ten workers of his day, and thanks to uncanny chemistry with Sam Strong managed to sustain a feud with the most famous wrestler of this or any other generation across the best part of a decade... Yeah: Roddy Piper sounds about right
BHK1978
Angry Gilmore = Edge (or Christian..can never remember which..) because they both get injured a lot. Funny thing is I always see Angry Gilmore as Christopher Daniels. And here I always thought that Jack Bruce was based off of the bass player, and singer of Cream: Jack Bruce. Silly me.... I am working on a mod and I was thinking of naming some one Ginger Baker. I would do Eric Clapton but he is way to well known!

Otherwise, you can sorta make a link.
Nedew
Well, Travis is black and fairly bad in the ring. Otherwise, you can sorta make a link. You could argue Daniels' used to have a quasi-religious element to his gimmick? And that would link them somewhat? But yeah, it's pretty baseless otherwise.
