WCW 1999: We Three Kings

Recommended Posts

LENNY LANE © VS REY MYSTERIO JNR. - After the match, Rey is going to sieze Lenny by his golden locks and take him out the back where Lodi will be waiting to whiten his hair up some more, al natural

BAGWELL AND JINDRAK VS EDDY AND BERLYN - This will be a very evenly shaped contest. After fourteen minutes of grueling action and six Slim Jims ads, when Bagwell is thinking about strumming his own guitar in celebration of his best match in WCW since the hey-days of the American Males, David Hassellhoff will drive KITT from the back down the ramp and up the aisle, going 96 miles per hour, no more, no less, as there will be a bomb planted on it that will go off should he change speeds, and will then pull a wheelie into the ring, crush Bagwell and Jindrak, to give his German friend Berlyn the change to cover Bagwell and shout out "Jurgen Klinnsman forever, achtung baby".

STEVEN REGAL, DEAN MALENKO, STEVIE RAY, BOOKER T, DAVE TAYLOR, CHRIS KANYON, CURT HENNIG, THE TOTAL PACKAGE, LA PARKA AND RICK STEINER BATTLE ROYALE - I genuinely toyed with the idea of La Parka. But I remembered that the action was likely to be indoors so rain was unlikely and therefore it wouldn't be a problem if you forgot your la parka. Kanyon Cutters for all and for all a very merry christmas.

KONNAN VS SCOTT STEINER - I'm going off the size of the arms test, and Scott Steiner has bigger arms, and of course they're also al natural.

DDP VS RANDY SAVAGE - Kanyon Cutters everywhere. Before the match, Ole Anderson will make a shock return announcing that he and Dusty Rhodes have taken the book. They will make Randy Savage dress in a black uniform with yellow polka dots and he will not recover. For Kim's part, they will make her put a tail on her toosh and Dusty will remark "Kim doll! Now you're a fox, you're no Baby Doll who is the perfect zero ©®, but you are still a fox!" DDP will get infuriated with Dusty's remarks and find KITT abandoned and half blown to smitherenes in the carpark, take control of KITT, listening to its poxy apartheid neutral jokes and drive it head first for Savage, who will crazily try to elbow smash it from the top ropes, and fail.

After the show, everyone not mangled by KITT will sit around singing Koombayah around Hulk Hogan and his hawaiin ukelele and drink wine coolers or cardboard box white wine, only the finest will do.

Y'know, I never really look at the ratings a segment/show pulls. It's all relative to the quality of the data...

.... Plus, how does the following match description rate?

Before the match is struck Vince Russo put together an unforeseen stipulation that the heels palatial mansions are at stake. After the match, Randy Savage announced that the Ultimate Warrior had siezed all their palatial mansions and has loaded up the rocketships with all their worldly possessions, causing the feud to stop all ages from Jurassic to the Ice Age where Hogan and Warrior will battle it out in the battle of the creepos at Starrcade. And after the match all competitors received a free set of steak knives.

Firstly, thank God Hogan/Nash/Sting received a free set of steak knives, after all, how would they be able to survive with the Ultimate Warrior stealing all their worldly possessions without their steak knives, but secondly, ... well, I forgot the second part.

Quick question BoomKing, we all know Jeff Farmer did the fake Sting, he also was Lightning (as we all know), will he don new face paint colours or a new mask and become Luigi of the Super Mario brothers, resulting in a God push?

All seriousness aside, I quite liked the show for one simple reason. It was basic but it had strategic intent in that everything that happened followed a common motive, and things that happened in previous segments meant something later on. I'm looking forward to the rest of this diary.

Nice first show the matches were just the right length and as this is around my favourite era for WCW i'll be reading.

QUICK PICKS

LENNY LANE © VS REY MYSTERIO JNR.

Just because i think a title change is a little too soon.

BAGWELL AND JINDRAK VS EDDY AND BERLYN

A tough 1 to call i can see Bagwell + Jindrak working better has a team but i was a fan of both Eddy + Berlyn so i'll go with them.

STEVEN REGAL, DEAN MALENKO, STEVIE RAY, BOOKER T, DAVE TAYLOR, CHRIS KANYON, CURT HENNIG, THE TOTAL PACKAGE, LA PARKA AND RICK STEINER BATTLE ROYALE

Curt Hennig .. because well he's Perfect!

KONNAN VS SCOTT STEINER

Was never a Konnan fan.

DDP VS RANDY SAVAGE

Now this is the hardest yet ... I always had a soft spot for Savage especially as an Heel, Macho Madness and all that but then DDP was one of my favourite Wrestlers at this time ...

Thought I would answer a few peoples question.

Rey Mysterio jnr. vs Kaz Hayashi vs Kidman Best of the three although Kidman comes close. Does he still have his mask at this point?

Actually, Rey lost his mask at SuperBrawl in february, but I hope nobody minds if I retcon that one because it was one of the dumbest things ever.

DDP VS RANDY SAVAGE - I guess DDP was heel at this point? I'd change that if I were you, he was much better used as a face. In any case, I suspect some dirty tactics to win, but I'd still call for it if he is face here, as I really don't know.

Yeah DDP is a heel at this point. At least he isnt a stalker getting beaten up by the deadmans missus yet.

BAGWELL AND JINDRAK VS EDDY AND BERLYN - Is Berlyn the same guy that was A Wall? Both have their strengths and advantages in this match, but I call Bagwell and Jindrak as the winners. Jindrak has a pretty good upside.

Berlyn was Alex Wright. The Wall was his bodyguard at one point I do believe.

Did I forget to mention that this match takes place in a junkyard?

hey great read, quick question not that it matters, but are you running these in TEW/EWR?

I understand no rating to break things up but a show rating would be kinda cool.

Im using Super hyper TEW 08 championship edition: The new fighters, to be exact. Yeah I can give you ratings and whatnot no problem. Its just that as with most real world mods, the stats are a little skewed in my favour, (although my attendances are in the crapper for some reason...) Thats not to know the awesome job CrookedRainJr has done making the Mod, for which I thank him.

Show rating was a C+ Main Event got a B, Jarrett vs Bagwell was C-, Vicious vs Steiner was C+, Heat vs The Bombers was C- (Mostly due to Konnan and Bam Bam's inability to work together I guess) The International Exhibition scored a C- and Goldberg vs Morrus was a C.

.... Plus, how does the following match description rate?

Quote:

Before the match is struck Vince Russo put together an unforeseen stipulation that the heels palatial mansions are at stake. After the match, Randy Savage announced that the Ultimate Warrior had siezed all their palatial mansions and has loaded up the rocketships with all their worldly possessions, causing the feud to stop all ages from Jurassic to the Ice Age where Hogan and Warrior will battle it out in the battle of the creepos at Starrcade. And after the match all competitors received a free set of steak knives.

This was above and beyond any scoring system that could be concieved by mortal minds.

Quick question BoomKing, we all know Jeff Farmer did the fake Sting, he also was Lightning (as we all know), will he don new face paint colours or a new mask and become Luigi of the Super Mario brothers, resulting in a God push?

As we all know,in May 1999, Farmer left nWo Japan and formed "TEAM 2000" with Chono as Super J, so yes, becoming Luigi seems the next logical step of his storied career. Perhaps Chono will become Princess Peach.

KONNAN VS SCOTT STEINER

Was never a Konnan fan.

Man, tough crowd. How come NOBODY has any love for the K-Dawg? I personally thought he had a great run in WCW and I loved his TNA work. Maybe he's a guilty pleasure.

LENNY LANE © VS REY MYSTERIO JNR.

He's much more talented and giving him the Cruiserweight Title is the right thing to do. I don't see a problem with a title change here as it's a low level title.

BAGWELL AND JINDRAK VS EDDY AND BERLYN

I think those two have the potential to become a really good team.

STEVEN REGAL, DEAN MALENKO, STEVIE RAY, BOOKER T, DAVE TAYLOR, CHRIS KANYON, CURT HENNIG, THE TOTAL PACKAGE, LA PARKA AND RICK STEINER BATTLE ROYALE

I'll go different to everyone else here and say Booker will get the shot. It's a very tough one to call though.

KONNAN VS SCOTT STEINER

I really can't see Konnan beating Steiner here. I've always liked Steiner as a wrestler aswell.

DDP VS RANDY SAVAGE

I feel DDP can offer more at this point and should be kept strong.

We've got not one but two main events lined up as we continue the number one contender tournament for Stings WCW heavyweight title belt! Not only will Scott Steiner go one on one with Konnan, but you lucky people get to witness DDP and The macho man square off in this ring tonight!

Boy, were really spoiling you tonight, Sacremento, because thats not all. Sid Vicious, your one big mean guy, but there's a lot of hungry talent behind those curtains who think they can knock you off your pedestal! Well earlier tonight, whooo, I went back there and I rounded em all up and I told em all to be ready for war tonight....because were gonna have ourselves a battle royale to find someone who can stand toe to toe with you at Halloween Havoc big man!

FLAIR- Steady on there Rick, I had nothing to do with Monday, that was all Bischoff's doing. As for tonight... I think we can find room for one more competitor whoooooo, if thats what you really want.

RICK- Your damn right that's what I want! You see, Monday night, I was shocked that everything I had worked for was taken away from me. Well tonight I'm not shocked any more, tonight I'm pissed off!

Tenay welcomes us back on commentary

TENAY- Ladies and gentlemen, as you will recall, On Monday Night Nitro Rey Mysterio Jnr. won an International Exhibition match which entitled him to a cruiserweight title match. This past couple of days I have heard that the championship committee has tried to persuade Mysterio to save this title shot for the upcoming Halloween Havoc but Mysterio, ever the competitor, has made it very clear that he will cash in right here tonight!

HEENAN- Wow! Halloween Havoc's loss is our gain! That oughta be a great matchup.

TENAY- Well we wont have to wait long to find out because that matchup is next!

http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg267/Chrisox/wcw/Rey_Mysterio15.jpg VS http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg267/Chrisox/wcw/Lenny_Lane.jpg

CRUISERWEIGHT TITLE MATCH

LENNY LANE © VS REY MYSTERIO JNR

Mysterio gained the upper hand in this one very early on. Mysterio was just too fast and too talented for Lane to handle resulting in several two counts. Lane had enough and left the ring, grabbed his Cruiserweight title and made his way up the ramp. Mysterio wasn't about to let him leave though, as he hit a suicide dive on Lane, inadvertedly cracking his own skull on the belt! Both men are down on the outside as the ref begins to count both men out.

Mysterio was the first to stir, driven by his desire to regain the Cruiserweight title. Knowing that he could not win the title on a countout, he dragged the prone Lenny back into the ring...but Lenny was playing possum! He rolls up Mysterio and gets a long two count despite having his feet on the ropes.

Lane takes over on offence for the middle part of the matchup but fails to put Mysterio away. Lane begins to get frustrated leading him to make enough mistakes for Mysterio to get himself back in the match. Mysterio hits a top rope headscissors takedown and the crowd sense he is moments from victory. One tornado DDT later and we have a NEW cruiserweight champion! Mysterio celebrates in the ring!

http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg267/Chrisox/wcw/Bill_Goldberg.jpg

The camera's cut to backstage where Goldberg is seen walking

http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg267/Chrisox/wcw/Meng.jpghttp://i170.photobucket.com/albums/u260/Hurry84/WCW/TheBarbarian.jpg

Suddenly and without warning, The faces of fear Meng and The Barbarian, attack Goldberg from behind! Goldberg goes down but doesnt give up. He gains enough distance between himself and his attackers to grab a metal pipe and chase them away. Goldberg stands tall with a bloody head for his troubles.

http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg267/Chrisox/wcw/Gene_Okerlund.jpghttp://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg267/Chrisox/wcw/Bret_Hart.jpg

GENE- Ladies and gentlemen we will get word to you regarding the physical condition of Bill Goldberg as and when we get it. With me now is the excellence of execution himself, the master of the sharpshooter, the one and only Bret Hart!

Now Bret, in less that a weeks time, you will step into the ring with one of the icons of professional wrestling Hollywood Hulk Hogan. WCW Governor Ric Flair made that match a possibility at the close of Nitro, and he has since stated that this will be a number one contender tournament match. My question to you, Bret Hart, is simply this...with the stakes as high as they can be, are you ready for next monday?

HART- I gotta admit Gene, thats a difficult question to answer. 1999 has been a tough year for both me and my family. We've suffered personal trauma's that I wouldn't wish on anybody, and it's made me question who and what I am. I asked myself if The Hitman still had a place in WCW and professional wrestling as a whole. Many times over the past twelve months I have thought about calling it a day...

But that's not the Hart Way. The Harts are wrestlers Mean Gene, and wrestlers wrestle. Next monday night, I can't out razzle dazzle Hulk Hogan. I havent got a flashy entrance like him or a huge entourage watching my back. I wont spout a hundred catchphrases try and make myself look cool by hanging aboot with celebrities. On monday night, all I can do...all I WILL do, is outwrestle Hulk Hogan.

And I'm not going to do it for myself. As much as I love them for their continued support, I'm not going to do it for the fans in attendance or those watching around the world. I'm going to make a promise tonight. I promise that by the end of 1999, I WILL become the WCW heavyweight champion, and when I do, I will dedicate my success and the rest of my career to my brother, the late, great, Owen Hart.

GENE- Strong words indeed from The Hitman, back to you Mike and Bobby.

http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg267/Chrisox/wcw/Rick_Steiner6.jpghttp://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg267/Chrisox/wcw/StevieRay.jpghttp://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg267/Chrisox/Booker_T4.jpghttp://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg267/Chrisox/wcw/ChrisKanyon2.jpghttp://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg267/Chrisox/wcw/WilliamRegal2.jpghttp://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg267/Chrisox/wcw/Dave_Taylor.jpghttp://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg267/Chrisox/wcw/DeanMalenko.jpghttp://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg267/Chrisox/wcw/CurtHennig11.jpghttp://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg267/Chrisox/wcw/Lex_Luger.jpghttp://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg267/Chrisox/wcw/LaParka3.jpg

Ten man battle royale for Television Title match at Halloween Havoc

Here is your order of elimination

1, Rick Steiner eliminates Dave Taylor

2, Rick Steiner eliminates Steven Regal

3, Curt Hennig eliminates La Parka

4, Lex Luger eliminates Chris Kanyon

4, Booker T eliminates Lex Luger

5, Stevie Ray eliminates Curt Hennig

The last four competitors are Rick Steiner, Dean Malenko, Stevie Ray and Booker T. Stevie and Booker face off against Rick and Dean, they shake hands and go to work on Rick and Dean. Dean has Stevie Ray hanging onto the top rope, he seems moments from elimination, but here comes Booker...who dumps them both over the top! Stevie is clearly pissed, booker tries to apologise to his brother but Stevie is having none of it!

Steiner tries to dump Booker over the top rope but he holds on. Steiner backs off and allows Booker back into the center of the ring. They shake hands as if to say, "may the best man win," before locking up. Steiner gains the upper hand and hits several power moves leading to a running powerslam. The ever resourceful Booker slips out of it and pushes Rick over the top rope!

Booker T looks stunned! He has just earned the biggest shot of his singles career! He paces the ring, not quite sure how to act, before jumping into the crowd and celebrating with the people! Rick Steiner is still at ringside berating himself. He knows he had Booker beat but let him literally slip through his fingers.

http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg267/Chrisox/wcw/Sid_Vicious.jpg

The familiar music hits and Vicious makes his way to ringside. Steiner, anticipating a confrontation, jumps into the ring and taunts Vicious to face him.

The two go at it and the already tired Steiner starts to get the tar kicked out of him. Vicious is just beating a hole right through the dog faced gremlin. He sets Rick up for a vicious powerbomb...

http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg267/Chrisox/wcw/Scott_Steiner.jpg

...but here comes Scott! Scott Steiner comes to his brothers aid and sends Sid packing! Scott helps Rick up and raises his arm high. He shouts to Sid that this isn't over...

http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg267/Chrisox/wcw/RicFlairShort.jpg

Backstage we see Governor Flair in his office on the telephone.

FLAIR- I know Eric, I know, it's a risky move, but Hulk isn't going to jeapordise his WCW career...hold on a minute Eric, I've got company... What can I do for you buddy?

http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg267/Chrisox/wcw/Chavo_Guerrero8.jpg

CHAVO- I'm not your buddy esse! I can't believe you had a so called International Exhibition match on Nitro and didn't include a member of the most internationally recognised wrestling family in the world, los Guerrero's! It should have been me winning the WCW Cruiserweight title tonight Holmes not that perfecto idiota Rey Rey!

FLAIR- You want a title shot, is that it, "Holmes?"

CHAVO- I want the recognition I deserve!

FLAIR- I hear ya Chavo. There's an old saying of mine that goes something like this...to be the man, whooooo, you gotta beat the man, so how about I put you in a match against the man who took Rey Rey to the limit on monday, Billy Kidman, on Saturday night?

CHAVO- And if I win?

FLAIR- If you win...I'll give you a shot at Mysterio at Halloween havoc. That good enough for you "Esse?"

Chavo smiles at Ric

CHAVO- Thanks, "Buddy."

The camera cuts backstage, but it is not the usual WCW camera's we go to. This camera is slightly grainy, almost like a home camcorder, and has the letters CCTV in the bottom right hand corner along with today's date

VOICE- Alright! We are backstage at WCW Thunder!

The camera focuses on the locker room of Eddy Guerrero.

VOICE- Lets see who we have behind door number one shall we?

http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg267/Chrisox/wcw/Berlyn.jpghttp://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg267/Chrisox/wcw/EddyGuerrero.jpg

Eddy is with his new tag partner for the night, Berlyn. They seem deep in conversation.

EDDY- No, listen up, esse! Repeat after me... ¡Órale! You got that?

BERLYN- I sink I got it, allow me to try. Ahem. Yodelayayodelayayodelay-ay- ooooh!

EDDY- Oh cabron, why did I ever agree to team up with you....

Eddy see's the camera

EDDY- Hey, get that thing out of here!

The camera goes to a static screen and cuts out, leading to a commercial break

In a match that contained two entirely new tag teams it should come as little surprise that there was a certain lack of chemistry. Jindrak and Bagwell perhaps gelled better, but Jindrak was clearly unhappy with Bagwell's hyperactive antics. Eddy and Berlyn may not have a great team dynamic, but their tendancy to take the low road seemed to give them enough mutual respect. The match ended when Bagwell was pinned after Berlyn cracked him with his cane and Eddy got the cover.

http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg267/Chrisox/wcw/Gene_Okerlund.jpg

GENE- A great victory for Guerrero and Berlyn there, despite gaining it via dubious means... My next guests require no introduction, but they insist that I give them one anyway. An unlikely alliance perhaps, but one that is very powerful. Im talking about the WCW champ Sting, Big Sexy Kevin Nash and of course Hollywood Hulk Hogan.

http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg267/Chrisox/wcw/aHulkHogan.jpghttp://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg267/Chrisox/wcw/KevinNashLong.jpghttp://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg267/Chrisox/wcw/Sting.jpg

NASH- Take a hike Gene, once again, you've worn out your usefulness in a matter of seconds! Did you guys hear what Bret Hart said earlier? That he's going to dedicate the rest of his career to Owen? I mean come on, hasn't Owen suffered enough? Let the guy rest in peace!

STING- Hart, your living under the false prophecy that you could ever take this sexy slice of gold from around my waist! Take a long hard look at this belt Bret because it is the closest you will ever come to it!

HOGAN- Let me tell you something Bret! You see the three of us have a little understanding. The WCW championship NEVER leaves this little triangle. Challengers can come and go but you will always see the belt around the waist of one of the three of us. When I beat you on Monday, and when Nash beats Perry Saturn on Saturday Night we both go one step closer to keeping the title. So you see it doesn't matter whether it's me or Big Sexy who goes onto face Sting at Halloween Havoc, one way or another, the championship stays in the family.

NASH- But, gee, wait a minute Hulkster! Didn't Governor Flair ban us from ringside during your match on monday? How will you ever beat Bret without us by your side? What are you going to do?

HOGAN- What am I going to do? WHAT YOU GONNA DO BRET HART?! I never have and never will need anybodies help to beat a chump like you, and on Monday, your gonna find that out the hard way! There wont be any baseball bats or ambushes at Nitro Bret, just the raw power of my 29 inch pythons running wild on you!

http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg267/Chrisox/wcw/Konnan.jpg W/ http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg267/Chrisox/wcw/BamBamBigelow.jpg VS http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg267/Chrisox/wcw/Scott_Steiner.jpg

KONNAN WITH BAM BAM BIGELOW VS SCOTT STEINER

As an act of solidarity, Konnan's fellow Tequila Slammer joined him at ringside. Well, I say act of solidarity, it was more a way to allow some blatant cheating on Konnan's behalf. Indeed, K-Dawg was able to mount an unlikely advantage against the genetic freak Steiner. Konnan dominated the matchup thanks in part to the help of Bam Bam and partly due to his attacking arsenal. The rolling thunder lariat has Steiner down for a long two count.

Konnan clamps in a headlock to wear out Steiner but Scott has way too much left in the tank. He powers out and throws Konnan halfway across the ring with a german suplex and shows off with some press ups. Steiner hits the Frankensteiner on Konnan and goes for the pin....1...2...Bam Bam tries to make the save, but Scott moves and Bigelow hits his own man with a splash! Steiner covers again and this time its good enough for a three count!

http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg267/Chrisox/wcw/Gene_Okerlund.jpghttp://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w15/TheWho87EWR/Wrestlers/Uploading/DDP11.jpg

GENE- So we now know that Scott Steiner will join Jeff Jarrett and Bill Goldberg in the second round of the Number One Contender Tournament. DDP, you go into your match with Randy Savage hoping to join them...

DDP- Hoping Gene? You think I have to hope? We'll you dont know DDP! I know I'm going to beat Savage tonight Gene, just as I know I'm going to Halloween Havoc to face off against the Stinger. And the reason I know all this is because I have one thing that nobody else in this tournament has. Its something that starts with a sparkle and ends with a BANG!

GENE- I admire your confidence Dallas, but what of your friendship with Kevin Nash?

DDP- You know, Nash is a great guy, and so are Hogan and Sting. And as much as I love those guys they have something I want. Something I need. Something I deserve. So don't take this the wrong way guys, but when I have the honour of competing against any of you in this tournament, you better get ready to feel da BANG!

http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w15/TheWho87EWR/Wrestlers/Uploading/DDP11.jpg VS http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg267/Chrisox/wcw/RandySavageWolfpac.jpg

DIAMOND DALLAS PAGE VS RANDY SAVAGE

There is definitely a big match feel to this one, which may make Eric Vince and Ed wish they had held it back to PPV or at least Nitro. That being said, it is a great match to beckon in the new era of WCW and the added importance of Thunder.

There is a lot of stalling and a long feeling out process to begin. Neither man wants to make a mistake and that is understandable with whats at stake. Eventually, Dallas capitalises with a decidedly low blow, which gives him the advantage he was looking for. DDP has Savage reeling with a succession of hard right hands. A belly to belly suplex and a flying clothesline both get two counts.

Savage finally gets some traction and threatens to take control of the matchup but again falls foul to an illegal move behind the referee's back. Page beats Savage from pillar to post, and it only seems a matter of time before the Diamond Cutter ends it. Out of nowhere, Savage gets a desperation jumping knee drop and looks to rally the troops by getting the crowd into the match.

An atomic drop followed by a scoop slam gets a two count for Savage. A huge vertical suplex gets another. Savage looks to the top rope and the crowd knows whats coming.

Savage ascends the top rope and the fans are going wild! He signals for the Savage Elbow....but Scott Hall pushes him off the top for the second week running behind the refs back! DDP slowly starts to stir as Savage is hollering at Hall! DDP is unsure what has happened, but he doesn't need a second offer to hit the diamond cutter! DDP covers for the 1,2,3!

http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y250/bobinc/TEW%20Pics/ScottHallNWO.jpg

After the match, DDP realises what Scott Hall has done. Scott enters the ring and mouths "your welcome." before raising DDP's hand. DDP pulls away from him but Hall tries again...and walks straight into a Diamond Cutter! The show ends with DDP standing tall in the ring as Savage and Hall nurse their wounds.

Due to unprecedented traffic here at WCW.COM, the webmasters have asked the head honcho's of WCW management if we can give a prize to the highest ranked predictor at the end of each month. WCW management were so impressed with the response that they have said that after Halloween Havoc, the person with the most correct predictions will have the opportunity to come up with an official team name for Mark Jindrak and Buff Bagwell! Make sure to predict often, as in the event of a tie break, the person who has nominated the most will be declared the winner!

http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h18/JRS_2006/EWR%20Junk/SaturdayNight.png

Which brings us nicely to tonights show! Two more tournament matches have been annouced for Saturday Night. The winners will join Bill Goldberg, Jeff Jarrett, Scott Steiner and DDP who have already advanced to the second round. As mentioned on Thunder, Big Sexy Kevin Nash is scheduled to face Perry Saturn in one on one competition. Also involved in tournament action are Chris Benoit and Eddy Guerrero. Which two men will make it one step further to main eventing Halloween Havoc?

Also in action will be Scott and Rick, the Steiner brothers, as they face off against United States champion Sid Vicious and his tag partner for the evening Chris Kanyon. Sid has been a constant thorn in Rick Steiner's side since the Television Title was taken away from the dog faced gremlin. Tensions bubbled over on Thunder during an unsanctioned brawl which was stopped by Rick's brother Scott. Tonight the legendary team reunites to get some measure of revenge on Sid.

After the violent attack he recieved on Thunder at the hands of The Faces of Fear Meng and The Barbarian, Bill Goldberg was taken to a nearby medical facility where he recieved twenty stitches. Tonight, Goldberg has been cleared to wrestle, and Governor Flair wasted no time in allowing Da Man to get his hands on one of his assailants. When asked who he wanted to face, Goldberg is said to have simply replied "Both of them!" That'r right, Bill Goldberg will face both Meng and The Barbarian in a handicap match of his own free will! We know Bill is a tough and amazing athelete, but this time, has he bitten off more than he can chew?

Chavo Guerrero had some choice words for Governor Ric Flair on Thunder, claiming to be overlooked in the Cruiserweight division. As such, Flair booked the young Mexican in a number one contender match, against the talented and extremely agile Billy Kidman. The winner of the match will go to Halloween Havoc to face the new WCW Cruiserweight champion Rey Mysterio Jnr. This is an amazing opportunity for both men, but who will have their hand raised come the end of the match?

Finally, in a continuation of Eric Bischoff's tag team incentive programme, The Blue Bloods Steven Regal and Dave Taylor will be in action against WCW's newest tag team. Dean Malenko has a wealth of wrestling experience to pass onto the younger members of our Cruiserweight division which is why one of our newest recruits, Elix Skipper, has jumped at the chance to team with The Iceman. Will Skipper and Malenko be the ones to win the £50,000 bonus?

All this plus Ric Flair, Sting and Kevin Nash are scheduled to be in the house tonight. Make sure you don't miss one minute of the action!

Welcome to WCW Saturday Night, live from The Gill coliseum, Oregon, on Saturday October 9th, 1999

Your hosts are Tony Schiavone and Dusty Rhodes

http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg267/Chrisox/wcw/Tony_Schiavone.jpghttp://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg267/Chrisox/wcw/DustyRhodes.jpg

http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg267/Chrisox/wcw/Bill_Goldberg.jpg

Saturday Night starts with Bill Goldberg in the ring. His forehead is bandaged.

BILL- STING!I know your here tonight Sting! Get your ass out here and face me man to man!

Goldberg waits to see if Sting will make an appearance.

BILL- I might have known you wouldn't have the guts! Afterall, you sent The Barbarian and Meng to do your dirty work on Thunder, didn't you? I know it was because of you that I spent all Thursday night in the hospital Sting!

I know you wanted Meng and Barbarian to send me a message! Well message recieved champ, and that message is, you're running scared! That's right Sting, I saw the look on your face when I walked past you on the ramp on Monday. You know I'm coming after your title, and I wont let anybody stand in my way!

As for Meng and Barbarian... I make it a policy never to shoot the messenger... I SPEAR the messenger! When I'm through with the two of you, I want you to scrape your blood off the canvas, pick up your teeth, and wipe your sweat from your brows....and I want you to put them in an envelope and deliver them to Sting! And when you do, I want you to give him a message from me...Goldberg's coming for him, and he wants his heavyweight title back!

http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg267/Chrisox/wcw/DustyRhodes.jpg

RHODES- Thems fighting words from Bill Goldberg right there Partnah! I think he got some of that Saturday Night Fevah if you weeeeeell!

http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg267/Chrisox/wcw/Tony_Schiavone.jpg

TONY- I think you might be right, Dusty! Welcome, wrestlefans, to another edition of WCW Saturday Night.

RHODES- It's tha muthaship Tony!

TONY- Indeed it is, and we are anticipating some amazing matchups here tonight. Not one but two main event calibre matches in the form of Kevin Nash vs Perry Saturn and Chris Benoit vs Eddy Guerrero. And were gonna kick things off with a match made by our Governor Ric Flair on Thunder.

http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg267/Chrisox/wcw/Chavo_Guerrero8.jpg VS http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg267/Chrisox/wcw/BillyKidman4.jpg

Chavo Guerrero Jnr. vs Billy Kidman

A great little match to kick off Saturday Night. Both men were on it tonight, and with a title shot on the line, they both went all out for the victory. Chavo tried from the offset to assert his submission expertise on Kidman with several intense leg and arm locks leading to a Loco Lock attempt that Kidman just sneaks out of. The crowd seem somewhat dissapointed with the lack of high flying moves so far but Chavo continues to try and keep it on the ground.

Kidman tries to up the tempo with some of his high octane offence including a top rope dropkick and a springboard bulldog. Chavo looks to regain control with a powerbomb but as everybody knows, YOU CANT POWERBOMB BILLY KIDMAN! Kidman gets a roll up for a very near two count. Kidman floors Chavo and goes up top for the shooting star press, but Chavo moves out of the way in the nick of time. He looks for the Loco Lock again, and this time he locks it in tight! Kidman has no choice but to tap out! He celebrates in the ring as we cut to commercial.

When Saturday Night comes back, we are again backstage with the CCTV camera seen on Thunder

VOICE- Welcome back to the show CCTV fans! The great thing about backstage is that you never know who your going to run into! For example, just five minutes ago, DDP left his locker room.

The camera focuses on the door

VOICE- But I know he wasn't the only in there... Lets take a peek inside shall we?

The camera shows the door opening and water can be heard running.

VOICE- It seems our special guest is in the shower folks! We should probably leave...or we could take a closer look?

The camera moves towards the shower area and we hear the shadow of a female figure singing to herself.

Kim see's the camera and shrieks. She pushes it away and the camera cuts out before the audience can see anything untoward.

http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg267/Chrisox/wcw/Bill_Goldberg.jpg VS http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg267/Chrisox/wcw/Meng.jpghttp://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg267/Chrisox/wcw/TheBarbarian.jpg

BILL GOLDBERG VS THE FACES OF FEAR

This was contested under tag rules, so Goldberg only faced one opponent at a time. He took little time to bring the pain, allowing Meng and Barbarian to tag so he could get a piece of both of them.

Meng was eventually able to to get some token offence in, and was even able to apply the Tongan deathgrip, but Bill simply powered out of it. Goldberg spears Barbarian to the outside and Jackhammers Meng to pick up the academic victory.

After the match, Goldberg picks up a microphone from ringside

BILL- Dear Sting, I'm gonna kick your ass! Yours sincerely, Bill Goldberg!

http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg267/Chrisox/wcw/WilliamRegal2.jpghttp://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg267/Chrisox/wcw/Dave_Taylor.jpg VS http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg267/Chrisox/wcw/DeanMalenko.jpghttp://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg267/Chrisox/wcw/Elix_Skipper.jpg

THE BLUEBLOODS VS MALENKO AND SKIPPER

The experience of Taylor and Regal really showed in this one. Individually, Elix and Dean more than held their own, but as a team they still have a lot to learn. Taylor and Regal used their smarts to isolate who they perceived to be the weaker man, Elix Skipper.

Skipper clearly has the confidence to take them on but makes a few rookie mistakes that allow The Bluebloods to keep him isolated. All match long the crowd look for a hot tag that never comes. Regal finishes things with a regal-plex to Skipper.

http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg267/Chrisox/wcw/Bret_Hart.jpghttp://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg267/Chrisox/wcw/aHulkHogan.jpg

A video plays hyping the epic encounter scheduled for monday between Hogan and hart. The footage is interspersed by their interviews from Thunder. It finishes on two lines.

"I never have and never will need anybodies help to beat a chump like you, and on Monday, your gonna find that out the hard way!"

"On monday night, all I can do...all I WILL do, is outwrestle Hulk Hogan."

http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg267/Chrisox/wcw/Bill_Goldberg.jpg

Goldberg is dressed in his street clothes, making his way back to his rental car

http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg267/Chrisox/wcw/Sting.jpg

Sting finally makes his presence known by viciously attacking Goldberg! He smashes him several times before officials and road agents can seperate them. As they hold Sting back, he has some choice words for Goldberg.

STING- You don't know who you're messing with Bill! You have no idea the world of pain your walking into...

http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg267/Chrisox/wcw/Tony_Schiavone.jpghttp://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg267/Chrisox/wcw/DustyRhodes.jpg

TONY- I wouldn't be surprised if Goldberg's been busted wide open again after that unprovoked attack.

DUSTY- He was clubbering him Tony! Sting is a bonafide coward the way he's been lurkin in the shadahs lately!

TONY- I think the issues between those two are far from over Dusty... On a happier note, one person on cloud nine at the moment is Booker T, who has earned the right to face Sid Vicious at Halloween havoc for the United States championship. Lets take a look at what went down on Thunder

Highlights are shown of Booker T's victory in the battle royale on Thunder.

DUSTY- I do believe that we have Bookah Tee on the telephone Line! Are you receiving me Bookah?!

BOOKER- Yeah I hear you loud and clear dawg!

TONY- Alright! First things first, congratulations on a hard fought victory.

BOOKER- Thanks, Tony, I appreciate that. I'm just sorry I can't be witchu tonight

TONY- With halloween Havoc only three weeks away, Book, will you be doing anything differently in the short run up to the match?

BOOKER- Im just gonna do the same as I always do Tony. Work hard in the gymn every day, watch a few scoutin tapes, y'all know how it is...

DUSTY- Bookah, I wanted to ax you a question if ah may.

BOOKER- Shoot, Dawg

DUSTY- Now we all saw that in ordah to pick up the victoree on Thundah, you tipped your own brothah, Stevie Ray, over the top rope. Enquiring minds need to know, Book. What is the current situation regarding you and Stevie?

BOOKER- Now why you gotsta stir things up like that Dusty? Me and Stevie are tight, you know that. We's thinker than blood...

DUSTY- But the look on your brothah's face when he realised what you done did was the look of a man scorned Book....

BOOKER- There you goes again, trying to cause trouble were there aint none! You know Stevie is a competitor and he wants to win every match he's in, so yeah, he got a little hot...but everythings cool now dawg. He knows I did what I gotta do, and if the situation was reversed, he'd a done the same thing.

TONY- Alright Booker, were gonna have to leave it there for the time being. Thanks again for joining us as good luck at Halloween Havoc

http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg267/Chrisox/wcw/KevinNashLong.jpgVShttp://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg267/Chrisox/wcw/PerrySaturn.jpg

KEVIN NASH VS PERRY SATURN

As decisive victory as we've had so far in the tournament. Nash may not be the fastest or the most technically gifted athelete on the WCW roster, but he certainly is one of the strongest. Saturn used all of his ring craft to try and stick and dodge but Nash picked up a relatively easy victory via the Jacknife Powerbomb.

After the match, Kevin Nash is joined in the ring by Mean Gene.

http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg267/Chrisox/wcw/Gene_Okerlund.jpg

GENE- Alright, what a victory for Kevin Nash here tonight. Big Sexy, that means you go onto the second round of the number one contenders tournament. Of all the competitors still in contention, who would you most look forward to facing in the ring?

NASH- I'll go you one better than that Gene, how about i call one of them out right now....DDP! Get your saggy ass out here right now!

http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg267/Chrisox/wcw/DDP11.jpg

DDP saunters down to ringside with a grimace.

NASH- Page...what the hell happened on Thunder man? I respect the hell out of you but you had no right giving the diamond cutter to Scott! I sent him out there to help you, man, and thats how you repay me?

DDP- Me and you go back a fair way, Kevin, and I say this as a friend. When I need your help...I'll ask for it.

NASH- If I remember correctly you were five seconds away from the elbow drop! I don't think you were in any position to ask for help!

DDP- I knew what I was doing! I had Savage right where I wanted him!

NASH- Yeah it sure looked that way, pal. I can't believe your pissed off with me. You should be thanking me you ingrate!

DDP- Look... I appreciate what you were trying to do Kev. I just need to do this on my own. Whoever I face in the next round, whether its Goldberg, Hogan, Hart...stay out of my business.

NASH- Your forgetting one thing... If you want to make it all the way to Halloween Havoc, eventually, your gonna have to face me!

The two men go nose to nose as Nash's music plays

http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg267/Chrisox/wcw/Scott_Steiner.jpghttp://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg267/Chrisox/wcw/Rick_Steiner6.jpg

Backstage, Scott and Rick are seen menacingly walking towards the ring as Saturday Night goes to a commercial

http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg267/Chrisox/wcw/Scott_Steiner.jpghttp://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg267/Chrisox/wcw/Rick_Steiner6.jpg VS http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg267/Chrisox/wcw/Sid_Vicious.jpghttp://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg267/Chrisox/wcw/ChrisKanyon2.jpg

Rick wants to start this one with Sid, but Kanyon says he's got it. The Steiners go to town on Kanyon whilst reminding the crowd what a great tag team they are. They isolate Kanyon for a solid ten minutes before Sid can get into the match.

Sid looks like an absolute monster as he destroys Rick Steiner. Scott has little choice but to watch on as his brother is pounded by Vicious. Scott has had enough and tries to rush the ring but the referee stops him, allowing Kanyon and Vicious to double team Rick.

The match continues like this until Scott eventually gets the hot tag and clears the ring! Sid decides he's had enough and takes a walk as Scott and Rick hit the Steiner Device on Kanyon! This ones over. Scott Steiner gets the pin as Sid watches off from the ramp.

http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg267/Chrisox/wcw/Chris_Benoit.jpg VS http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg267/Chrisox/wcw/EddyGuerrero.jpg

CHRIS BENOIT VS EDDY GUERRERO

And so it comes to this. Our main event of the evening. This is by far the most technically grounded match of the first round as both men go out of their way to outdo each other.

There is a crispness to their actions that really distiguishes them as two workers with a lot of upward mobility in WCW. They go back and forth in the early exchanges, and the impact only gets more intense as the match progresses.

Guerrero is the first to gain any kind of advantage but it's a shame that he had to resort to cheating to get it. Guerrero continually uses underhand tactics to keep on top of Benoit. Ever the fighter, Benoit refuses to either give in, or lower himself to Eddy's level. Eddy hits a German Suplex before going up top to look for a senton....which connects! 1...2....no! Benoit gets to the ropes!

Eddy is clearly frustrated and looks to end things with the jacknife splash but his frustrations get the better of him, allowing Benoit to get up to his vertical base and hit and grab Eddy's leg. Eddy turns around into a dragon screw! Benoit goes up top and the crowd knows whats coming... Diving Headbutt from the top rope! Benoit crawls over to a motionless Eddy and covers 1....2....3! Benoit progresses to the next round!

Benoit staggers to his feet holding his head whilst his hand is raised in victory. Eddy Guerrero also slowly comes to and looks menacingly at Benoit. He approaches...and offers his hand?

Benoit doesnt know what to do, but eventually, he reluctantly accepts and the two combatants shake hands. They are interupted by some familiar music

http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg267/Chrisox/wcw/Sting.jpg

STING- Well aint this sweet? I got three words for the two of you...get a room! You know, the more I look around WCW, the more I realise just how much I'm carrying this promotion on my shoulders! Aside from Hogan and Nash, there are zero legitimate contenders to this huge, obscene, sexy slice of twenty four carat gold around my waist! I mean, Bret Harts washed up, Scott Steiners a freak show, Goldbergs in the hospital...again, and the less said about you two scrubs the better! So Ric Flair, if you're listening...I'm beggin ya! Save us the torture of having to sit through thr.....

http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg267/Chrisox/wcw/Bill_Goldberg.jpg

Sting freezes at the sound of Goldbergs music. He turns to face the curtains and backs up as a bloody Goldberg growls his way onto the ramp! Sting begs off... but Eddy and Benoit grab him and bundle him into the ring! Goldberg watches on as Benoit hits a bridging dragonplex on the world champ! With Sting down in the middle of the ring, Eddy and Benoit ascend the turnbuckles at opposing corners....Frog Splash by Eddy! Diving headbutt from Benoit! They celebrate as the crowd cheers. Goldberg looks on, his stoney silence speaking volumes...

http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg267/Chrisox/wcw/NitroWCWlogo.gif

Is it really only a week since Eric Bischoff returned to WCW along with his new board of directors and Governor Flair? So much has occured in such a short space of time the mind truly boggles. Nitro this week comes from the Colonial Center at the University of South Carolina and it promises to be just as explosive as last week.

http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg267/Chrisox/wcw/CurtHennig11.jpg VS http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg267/Chrisox/wcw/Shane_Douglas.jpg

Tonight, the first round of the Number One Contender Tournament draws to a close, as the final four men compete in singles competition. Governor Flair has announced that Shane Douglas and Curt Hennig will face one another for a spot in the next round. These are two stellar atheletes who are sure to put on a wrestling clinic in the ring.

http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg267/Chrisox/wcw/Bret_Hart.jpg VS http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg267/Chrisox/wcw/aHulkHogan.jpg

Then, of course, there's the big one. A match made only a week ago but based on years of intrigue and drama. Bret Hart, of the legendary Hart Family, will battle Hollywood Hulk Hogan, in tonights epic main event. Hogan has made no attempt to hide the fact that he, Kevin Nash and Sting are working as a unit to hold onto the WCW title, even going as far as to claim that the belt will NEVER leave the three of them. Hart, meanwhile, has promised to become the WCW champion and dedicate his victory to his brother, Owen Hart. Governor Flair has upped the stakes by declaring that Hogan will be fired from WCW should Nash, Sting, or anybody else interfere on the Hulksters behalf.

http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg267/Chrisox/wcw/RandySavageWolfpac.jpg VS http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg267/Chrisox/wcw/thScottHallNWO.jpg

Randy Savage has requested this match against Scott Hall after Hall ambushed and cost Savage victory not once but twice. Hall has prevented Savage from hitting the Savage elbow two times, costing him a place in the Number One Contender Tournament second round in the process. Savage has vowed to get his revenge tonight and hit the elbow drop on Hall.

http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg267/Chrisox/wcw/StevieRay.jpghttp://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg267/Chrisox/Booker_T4.jpg VS http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg267/Chrisox/wcw/thBuff_Bagwell.jpghttp://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg267/Chrisox/wcw/Mark_Jindrak.jpg

New number one contender for the United States Championship Booker T claims all is well in the Harlem Heat camp, despite Booker eliminating Stevie Ray from the Battle Royale. We will find out first hand tonight whether this is true or not as they team up to take on Bagwell and Jindrak. The rookie pairing will have to go all out to beat the tag champs and pick up their first victory as a tag team.

http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg267/Chrisox/wcw/Lenny_Lane.jpg VS http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg267/Chrisox/wcw/Jamie_Noble3.jpg VS http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg267/Chrisox/wcw/Shannon_Moore24.jpg VS http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg267/Chrisox/wcw/Psychosis.jpg

WCW is the ONLY place in North America where you can see the high flying and acrobatic cruiserweights. It is personally an honour and a privelige to call these matches, (even if it is almost impossible to keep up with them!) Former Cruiserweight Champion Lenny Lane will be looking to get back into the title hunt as he does battle with Psychosis, Shannon Moore and Jamie Knoble.

http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg267/Chrisox/wcw/KevinNashLong.jpghttp://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg267/Chrisox/wcw/Sting.jpg VS http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg267/Chrisox/wcw/Chris_Benoit.jpghttp://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg267/Chrisox/wcw/EddyGuerrero.jpg

Finally, after the Events of WCW Saturday Night, Sting was left battered and bruised by up-and-comers Benoit and Guerrero. Sting demanded that Governor Flair give him a shot at retribution against them and his wish has been granted. Sting and Nash are an imposing and crafty duo, so Benoit and Guerrero will have to put all their differences aside to achieve victory tonight.

You cannot afford to miss Nitro tonight, fans, as also in the house will be; Bill Goldberg, Jeff Jarrett, The Steiner Brothers and United States Champion Sid Vicious. Join me, Bobby Heenan and Tony Schiavone Live and exclusive on TNT tonight for two hours you will never forget!
