Gamma 2027

Recommended Posts

This will be a dynasty set in the future of the Cornellverse in which all the original fighters have since retired and a new breed of fighters has emerged.

I will be playing GAMMA, the top promotion in the world, who will cater only to the best fighters. Therefore, I'll be keeping each division to around 15 fighters and will cut those that under-perform. Around two events will be held a month with about 5-6 matches per event. Money will be a non-issue.

GAMMA 118: Ross vs. Price III

Main Event: Clinton Ross (20-2) vs. ‘The Dagger’ Greg Price (17-4)

This fight will be the third meeting between these two for the currently vacant GAMMA Lightweight title (due to Aleksander Golob giving it up to go fight in Japan for ALPHA-1). Price nabbed the lightweight title briefly back in 2022 before losing it to Ross via early submission and then quickly getting knocked out in the rematch. Ross held the title to two defenses before losing it to Golob. Clinton Ross is currently ranked the #3 lightweight in the world whereas Price comes in at #7.

Clinton Ross is a wrestler who has incredible knock out power, solid boxing, and an all-around fantastic ground game. Greg Price is a mixed martial artist who is well known for his world-class speed and smarts in the cage, but can do just about everything pretty well.

Keys to the fight:

  1. Price has a weak chin and Ross should exploit that with his deadly knockout power.
  2. Price should avoid the ground game where Ross’s superior wrestling skills come in to play.
  3. Price needs to use his quickness and pepper Ross from a distance and look for openings.

Prediction: Clinton Ross by TKO

Co-Main Event: ‘The Knight’ Hiroharu Haga (16-1) vs. ‘The Enforcer’ Mads Jarvinen (19-2)

This will be a bout between two of the top-ranked welterweights in the world for a shot at the welterweight title held by Travis Howard. Both of these fighters have notable achievements, with Haga previously holding the ALPHA-1 welterweight title to 3 defenses and Jarvinen holding not only the SIGMA welterweight title to a single defense, but the GAMMA welterweight title to 2 defenses (before losing it to Howard).

Hiroharu Haga is a freestyle wrester who specializes in grappling and has a solid ground game. Mads Jarvinen is a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu practitioner who has devastating takedowns and really gives 100% every fight.

Keys to the fight:

  1. Jarvinen should keep the fight standing and take advantage of his superior boxing and kickboxing skills.
  2. The ground game could go either way; Jarvinen could exploit his better takedowns and rack up points controlling Haga on the ground.
  3. Haga should use his superior grappling and clinch game to control Jarvinen.

Prediction: Mads Jarvinen by decision

‘Shocker’ Alex Stallings (16-3) vs. ‘The Long Shot’ Mashai Kasuse (16-6)

Former GAMMA Middleweight champion will clash with one of the world’s deadliest kickboxers, Mashai Kasuse, in what could be the fight of the night with the winner getting a shot at the title. Stallings held the GAMMA Middleweight title to 3 defenses before losing it to Earl Burkman in 2024. He’s since racked up 5 wins. Mashai Kasuse has held titles in both EMERALD and BCF and was just recently brought over to GAMMA, winning his last 2 of 3 fights there in devastating fashion.

Ranked as the #4 middleweight in the world, Alex Stallings is a simple, unassuming brawler who has made a name for himself by knocking people out. Since his entry into MMA, 11 of his 12 wins come by way of knock out. Mashai Kasuse, a kickboxer, is all about his lightning fast, heavy kicks and speed.

Keys to the fight:

  1. Stand and hope to land.

Prediction: Kasuse by brutal knock out

‘Ninja’ Gordon Vedder (21-4) vs. ‘Anarchy’ Ryosei Shinko (17-5-1)

Former GAMMA Welterweight champion Gordon Vedder will take on the tough veteran Ryosei Shinko in what should be a thriller. Vedder has held the GAMMA welterweight to 4 defenses, more than anyone, and hopes to get back on track after a UD loss to Benjamin Rua. While Shinko doesn’t have anything yet to show for it, he has had a good showing in GAMMA so far, going 9-1 before losing his last two fights to very difficult opponents.

Gordon Vedder is a brawler well known for the power displayed in his punches both standing up and on the ground. Ryosei Shinko practices sambo and has developed a great takedown and ground game.

Keys to the fight:

  1. Shinko needs to avoid the power in Vedder’s punches and go for the takedown early.
  2. Vedder has to stay mobile and be a step ahead of Shinko.

Prediction: Shinko by submission

‘Dynamite’ Yoshi Tsukawaki (11-3) vs. ‘Death Row’ Tanzan Sekine (11-3)

These two fighters are looking to meet in the cage once more after Tsukawaki held Sekine to a decision last year. A win here would gain the fighter some legitimate respect in the light heavyweight division as both are ranked #9 and #10 in GAMMA.

Yoshi Tsukawaki is a ground and pound specialist who has great takedowns and an underrated ground game. Tanzan Sekine takes a hybrid fighting style where he uses his amazing speed as both an offensive and defensive skill.

Keys to the fight:

  1. Tsukawaki should be looking to get it to the ground early and finish Sekine there.
  2. Sekine really needs to use his speed and try and test Tsukawaki’s chin.

Prediction: Tsukawaki by submission

‘Prime Mover’ Herman Bobish (16-11) vs. ‘Ghost Dog’ Shane Sparrow (13-9)

Both of these fighters desperately need a win here to avoid being cut from GAMMA due to their mediocre performances there (6-6 for Bobish and 3-3 for Sparrow). Herman Bobish, a wrestler, generally likes to grind out wins in the clinch while Shane Sparrow uses a diverse array of boxing, kickboxing, and ground skills. Many believe Bobish to be overrated and Sparrow to be underrated.

Keys to the fight:

  1. Bobish needs to stick with what he’s best at doing and control Sparrow with his wrestling.
  2. Sparrow should try and stay mobile and avoid getting caught into Bobish’s clinch game.

Prediction: Bobish by decision

Results for GAMMA 118: Ross vs. Price III

Clinton Ross beat Greg Price by TKO in 3:25 of round 1 to win the GAMMA Lightweight title (Great)

Ross was able to catch Price into a grapple and take him down quicker than expected. Ross then used Price's triangle attempt to get side control and then mount before Price was forced to flip onto his back where Ross ended it with some brutal strikes to the head.

Hiroharu Haga beats Mads Jarvinen by Unanimous Decision in 5:00 of round 3 (Decent)

A kind of surprising win for Haga here who used his world class grappling skills to control Jarvinen for most of the match. Haga will be facing the winner of the title bout between Travis Howard and Tadiyuki Akamatsu.

Mashai Kasuse beat Alex Stallings by Unanimous Decision in 5:00 of round 3 (Good)

I think Alex Stallings was robbed in this match notably because he not only knocked Kasuse down to the ground in the 2nd round, but he got some vicious strikes in there that rocked him before the round ended. The third round should have went to Stallings, but didn't. Nevertheless, Kasuse did stay busy throughout the match to get the win.

Gordon Vedder beat Ryosei Shinko by TKO in 0:31 of round 1 (Great)

Vedder came out like a madman and secured a very impressive knock out win over a very tough opponent. This win will put vedder into a contention match for a shot at the title.

Yoshi Tsukawaki beat Tanzan Sekine by Unanimous Decision in 5:00 of round 3 (Average)

Although he was unable to finish, Tsukawaki was able to take down Sekine at will throughout the match to pick up another solid win.

Shane Sparrow beat Herman Bobish by TKO in 4:57 of round 1 (Good)

As expected, Bobish was quick to use his grappling skills to control Sparrow, but Sparrow was able to reverse it, break free, and barrage Sparrow up against the cage with punches. Bobish has since been cut and sources say a rematch with Tsukawaki could be in the works.

I will try to follow this...but i think you need to give us some round up of what happened in the past. Maybe like year by year so we know how the current roster formed. Or a summary of each division.

Because i doubt i will really get into this just knowing a brief bit about each fighter.

GAMMA 119: Vessey vs. Oliveira

Main Event: 'Perfection' Dale Vessey (11-0) vs. 'The Terminator' Tomas Oliveira (18-4)

The GAMMA Heavyweight champion phenom Dale Vessey will be taking on the heavy-handed striker Tomas Oliveira in what should be an exciting fight.

After beating the undefeated Dale Gibson for the title in his last fight, Vessey has put himself as the #1 pound for pound fighter in the world. He has used his Greco-Roman wrestling background as a base to become a top-notch all around fighter.

Tomas Oliveira has built up an impressive 7-1 record in GAMMA over the years and is currently on a 5 win winning streak with four of them being devastating knock outs. There's nothing fancy about Oliveira; he does one thing and he does it well: brawl.

Keys to the fight:

Vessey needs to get Oliveira down as early as possible where victory is assured.

Oliveira needs to stay on his feet and try and test the untested chin of Dale Vessey.

Prediction: Vessey by submission

Co-Main Event: 'Death Urge' Wesley Dahl (16-8-1) vs. 'Fast Twitch' Tim Couture (17-8)

Former Light Heavyweight champion Tim Couture is set to battle the stalwart Wesley Dahl in what will be their second meeting. Tim Couture was able to quickly submit Dahl back in 2023, but many believe Dahl has since surpassed Couture and have been calling for a rematch.

Wesley Dahl is a Greco-Roman Wrestler who has developed a superb ground game while Tim Couture has built upon his Muay Thai background to incorporate a wide variety of skills.

Keys to the fight:

Dahl will probably find it difficult to get Couture to the ground where he can use his better ground game to his advantage, but he'll need to if he wants to win.

Couture should try and keep the fight standing where he can use his superior standup to rack up points and possibly get a knock out.

Prediction: Dahl by submission

'The Barbarian' Kojiro Ochiai (14-4) vs. 'The Predator' Jason Green (18-7)

The second meeting between these two in which Green was able to get a surprising submission win over the more formidable, former GAMMA Heavyweight champion Ochiai. They're both coming off losses, so they'll be looking for a win to put them back into possible title contention.

Kojiro Ochiai comes from a Greco-Roman Wrestling background, possessing a solid ground game and some heavy hands. Jason Green has built a wrestling style specifically for MMA; working the clinch game, taking fighters down, and submitting them.

Keys to the fight:

Ochiai is the much better standup fighter and Green has a rather questionable chin, so if Ochiai were smart he'd keep it standing, which he should be able to do.

It's going to be a tough fight for Jason Green, but his best bet of winning is controlling Ochiai in the clinch game and grinding out a decision.

Prediction: Ochiai by TKO

'Prime Time' Earl Burkman (19-3) vs. Martin Azeredo (17-4)

These two former GAMMA Middleweight champions will duke it out for what will be surprisingly the first time in their careers. They've each held the GAMMA Middleweight title to 3 defenses, so they're very capable fighters and are both known for their long winning streaks (Burkman had as many as 13).

After losing his title to Kowalczyk in his last fight, Burkman looks to get back on track with a win over the deadly grappler Azeredo. Both of these fighters come from a wrestling background, so they have similar skill sets, but many consider Azeredo's wrestling to be superior.

Keys to this fight:

Azeredo needs to use his better grappling to control Burkman.

Azeredo should avoid standing with Burkman as his chin has cost him some easy fights in the past.

Burkman can probably avoid getting taken down by Azeredo, but he may get outgunned in the grappling game.

Prediction: Azeredo by decision

'Blackjack' Andrew Kelly (19-4) vs. 'The Sublime' Bernardo Diez (15-6)

A lightweight fight that will pit two very different styled wrestlers against one another. Kelly employs a more traditional wrestling skill set, being pretty good in all aspects of wrestling and the ground game while Diez likes to use his solid wrestling base to keep the fight standing and wear away at his opponents through dirty boxing.

Keys to the fight:

Kelly should look to get Diez down to the ground early and work his better ground game.

Diez has a solid enough base to keep Diez from taking him down, but he might actually be able to control Kelly well enough in the clinch.

Prediction: Kelly by submission

'Born To Be Wild' Nobuyori Sakanoue (13-10) vs. 'The People's Champion' Aaron Grove (18-12)

These two welterweight fighters have had mediocre performances in GAMMA and know that a loss here could mean a cut from GAMMA. Sakanoue was brought to GAMMA due to his incredible speed, cardio, and smart fighting style, but has so far been unimpressive, going 0-2. Aaron Grove actually left GAMMA in 2023 after a mediocre performance before returning and going 0-2. Grove likes to wrestle and take the fight to the ground to work his good submission skills.

Keys to the fight:

Sakanoue has to use his lightning speed to keep Grove from taking him down.

If Grove catches Sakanoue, the fight will likely be over

Prediction: Grove by submission

Results for GAMMA 119: Vessey vs. Oliveira

Tomas Oliveira beat Dale Vessey by TKO in 4:49 of round 4 to win the GAMMA Heavyweight title (Fantastic)

An absolute stunner here. Tomas Oliveira, who was previously unranked, knocks off the #1 pound for pound fighter in the world to win the GAMMA Heavyweight title. Vessey actually controlled Oliveira quite handily to win 3 of the 4 rounds, but that control came at a cost as he visibly gassed during the 4th and Oliveira was not only able to avoid his takedown attempts, but he rocked Vessey before sending him up against the cage with a barrage of strikes. Huge win for Oliveira.

Wesley Dahl beat Tim Couture by Submission in 3:25 of round 3 (Excellent)

Couture was actually beating Dahl in the standup to win rounds 1 and 2 before Dahl, realizing he had to do something, charged in hard at the opening of round 3 to take Couture down and submit him in an impressive fashion. This moves Dahl up to #5 in the Light Heavyweight rankings and is likely a win a away from a title shot.

Jason Green beat Kojiro Ochiai by Split Decision in 5:00 of round 3 (Great)

Huge props to Green here in beating Ochiai in one of the most interesting ways I've seen yet. He would basically grab on to Ochiai and pull him down into his guard and harass him with triangle chokes the whole match. They were never successful, but I guess they were enough of a threat in the judges eyes to give him the win. Smart strategy by Green.

Martin Azeredo beat Earl Burkman by Unanimous Decision in 5:00 of round 3 (Decent)

As predicted, Azeredo took advantage of his superior grappling and grinded out a win over Burkman. Azeredo will probably be fighting for a title shot against a TBD opponent next.

Andrew Kelly beat Bernardo Diez by Submission in 1:29 of round 2 (Average)

Diez really couldn't stop Kelly from taking him down at will, which eventually led to him getting submitted early in the 2nd round. Kelly moves to #5 in the Lightweight division, but his low name value in the states means he'll need at least a few more wins to get a shot at the tile.

Aaron Grove beat Nobuyori Sakanoue by Submission in 4:07 of round 1 (Good)

Grove was able to take Sakanoue down on the first attempt and managed to eventually submit him in what looked to be a routine win for him. Grove will likely be sticking around for a while, but Sakanoue will be getting cut.

GAMMA Lightweight Top 10:

#1 Clinton Ross (21-2) Age: 28

Current two time GAMMA Lightweight champion and fighter of the year in 2023. Has only lost twice: once to the Brazilian Jiu Jitsu phenom Alexander Golob via decision and once to Vasilii Petrovic by way of knock out. He's finished all the fights he has won (10 TKOs and 6 submissions).

#2 Dominykas Arlovski (22-3) Age: 30

Two time ALPHA-1 Lightweight champion with the majority of his wins coming by way of TKO. One of the most deadly strikers in the world. Lightning quick and nearly impossible to take down. Just recently signed with GAMMA after a long stint with ALPHA-1 and has gone 1-1 with a loss to Petrovic.

#3 Vasilii Petrovic (17-7) Age: 28

A recent arrival at GAMMA who has gone 2-1 with huge wins over Arlovski and Ross, but a stunning submission loss to Darryl Rivera. A masterful Muay Thai specialist who likes to use scything low kicks to wear down his opponents. Lightning quick. Deadly ground and pound. Does have a somewhat questionable chin.

#4 Greg Price (17-5) Age: 32

Former GAMMA Lightweight champion (way back in 2022) who is a master of all trades, though his quickness and smarts in the cage are most notable. 3 of his 5 losses are thanks to Clinton Ross.

#5 Andrew Kelly (20-4) Age: 26

Former two time BCF Lightweight champion and a recent arrival in GAMMA who has quickly risen up the rankings with his solid wrestling and ground skills. 75% of his wins come by way of submission.

#6 Darryl Rivera (17-6-2) Age: 30

Former BCF Lightweight champion who is also a recent arrival at GAMMA. Got a stunning win over Petrovic before losing to Backlund via decision. As with Kelly, loves to use his solid wrestling base to take fighters down and submit them. Well known for his outstanding cardio.

#7 Bobby Backlund (20-4) Age: 31

Former BCF Lightweight champion (4 defenses) who was snatched up last year. Another solid wrestler that usually grounds and pounds his opponents to victory.

#8 Glenn Jericho (16-10) Age: 29

The charismatic "screwball" has had a decent showing in GAMMA with a 5-3 record, his biggest win being over Backlund. A fairly good wrestler that can stand and bang when needed.

#9 Bernardo Diez (15-7) Age: 26

Former SIGMA Lightweight champion Bernardo Diez has done well in GAMMA, going 5-2 so far. A good wrestler and power puncher, his one weakness is his ground game.

#10 Timothy Thatcher (10-2) Age: 29

A newcomer to GAMMA, Timothy Thatcher has been building a reputation in SIGMA as a great submission artist, going 5-1 there. His biggest win is actually over Andrew Kelly, so a rematch between the two is likely.
