milamber
Pretty good NXT this week.
Bestia Negra
I just watched the main event this week which was okay. Did they edit that match? Seemed like after Lumis flipped out of the ring he stood way too far away from it, the trajectory didn't seem to make any sense. Also, Lumis and Thatcher are both heels, no? As an old-school fan I don't like the heel getting the win vs another heel.
milamber
I think Lumis is a tweener. He was feuding with Roddy when Era were heels. Era seem to be turning babyface now.
Kijar
Really dig guys like Metallik getting legit title matches with AJ. Just a testament to what AJ and Bryan are as workhorse veterans. Also kudos to Smackdown creative for giving guys without reaction, more often than not, an honest shot here. Should've been Gable maybe, especially now that he is looking heel? and likely wouldn't lock horns with AJ at all. Big E getting a singles run is looking so forced right now, but I was running back through NXT in order and he was pretty awesome with the 5 Count stuff there. I do really miss Woods on TV, I'll say. I'm pretty sure they've only booked Lumis in the face role thus far, though his mannerisms are all heel (serial killer/psychopath) and he worked heel at house shows just before debuting on TV proper the second time (I saw him decimate Rik Bugez in person). Liking Ever-Rise getting more TV time between NXT and 205 Live. Tehuti is meh to me because his name is HORRIBLE. Liking them giving an actual character to Mendoza, Wilde, and Fantasma. Just think the Santos Escobar name is also pretty bad haha.
Jaysin
So I was thinking that Retribution could be some of the talent WWE released because of the Pandemic back in April. Only problem is most of them already signed with other companies except Rusev.

Jaysin
So what do folks hereabouts think of RAW Underground? It's just a knock off of Matt Riddle/Josh Barnett's Bloodsport show.

milamber
So what do folks hereabouts think of RAW Underground? I stopped watching Raw and SD months ago. I just read recaps now. Even if the Bloodsport thing was good it would still be unwatchable with WWE camerawork. 79 camera cuts... Seventy ****ing nine camera cuts in less then 2mins. During the Raw Underground segments... 1st fight: 17 cuts in 21.79 seconds 2nd fight: 12 cuts in 15.93 seconds 3rd fight: 25 cuts in 41.38 seconds 4th fight: 25 cuts in 38.39 seconds*
Jaysin
I tried to watch Raw last night and the first 40ish minutes were dedicated to lame as heck Seth Rollins. Seriously, the dude is one of the worst things in mainstream wrestling and they called him the greatest of his generation. Not even close to being true. I get that it's supposed to put heat on him, but it's more go away heat than anything.

I had to turn it off after those 40 minutes.

I did watch clips of Raw Underground and it's a very poor rip off of Matt Riddle's/Josh Barnett's Bloodsport shows. The idea behind Bloodsport is cool and unique. WWE's version is just lame to me.
CQI13
Well, it's unlikely that they will crap on their own guy. Not until he's on the way out, I guess.

Didn't know Riddle/Barnett had a Bloodsport-type show. I do know EC3 had vignettes with this a few weeks before Raw did it, so it my mind it's more of a direct copy of that.

Bestia Negra
Renee Young has turned in her notice that she's leaving! Probably off to AEW. I'm not watching much WWE these days, what was her job there? Can't remember seeing her on TV for years.

I think she does PPV pre shows and was doing a show called WWE Backstage but that got cancelled because of covid.
Jaysin
Takeover was pretty good. Bronson rocking the Bam Bam Bigelow gear made me pop.

Very glad Io retained as I think she's the best female talent in the world.

Also shocked that Kross won the NXT title. Fairly good match though. I enjoyed the show enough that I'm going to try and watch NXT again on Wednesday.

CQI13
Pat Mcafee is what WWE hoped Rob Gronkowski would be. A lot of basic stuff with some neat spots (the dive off the top, the jump to the top rope for the superplex). I thoroughly enjoyed it. Even thought he would win at one point - they did a good job of building the intrigue/doubt in the result. I thought Priest was going to have the NA Title stolen while in the jacuzzi. It is so strange to see the beginning of matches with no fans/no crowd noise. Once the match starts there's some reactions that you kind of forget about it. But entrances? and when they're just facing off and the ref is between them? The silence is deafening. I wonder why they don't just pipe in the sound for TV? (Obviously it wouldn't be audible in the arena). First time seeing Kross (hadn't watched since January, got an offer for the free month). But the side suplex is a finisher for him? It's certainly old school, but I thought it would be something more eye catching.
Jaysin
What's weird about the saito suplex being Kross's finish is it's also Jordan Devlin's finish.

Bestia Negra
Didn't watch the SummerSlam. Was Wyatt vs Strowman worth watching? Might watch that later today if it was. What was their storyline after the swamp disaster anyway? I thought we wouldn't see Strowman for a while but apparently getting "drowned" in a swamp isn't that bad, probably showed up the next night on RAW I'd guess McIntyre vs Orton was the best match on the card? Bray/Strowman - their best effort so far but that is a low bar to clear. Can't get into Bray or the Fiend character at all, it does less than 0 for me. Not sure if Strowman returned the next night or not ) don't watch the TV shows) but from the clips they played, they keep playing up this whole "anyone who goes up against the Fiend is changed, blah blah blah. Rollins/Dominick was probably the best match. Orton/McIntyre probably a close second, but the ending was...odd.
Jaysin
I'm far from a Rollins fan, but I felt his match with Dominik Mysterio was the best match of the show.

Drew vs Orton was good though. I just felt like they were holding back. I'm guessing they'll have another match at Payback. It was odd they built up the RKO vs Claymore angle leading up to the match and neither move was done successfully. Hoping Orton doesn't win the rematch as I just don't want to see Orton as champion in 2020
