NXT was a recap show with only 1 new match (Riddle vs Ohno) which was good.

NXT UK Episode 21: Moustache Mountain vs Gallus (NXT UK Tag Title Championship Semi-Final) was good. Tyler Bate wrestled like a madman.

NXT UK Episode 22: Toni vs Deonna was great. Best Women's match so far on the brand, IMO. Last double episode next week before Takeover: Blackpool.

AEW and ROH are offering lucrative contracts to top indie talent and Omega is considering a fantastic offer" from WWE (probably in the $3-5m/year range on par with Styles and Reigns). The dream of Bryan vs Omega at Mania is alive! Should be an interesting few months in wrestling.

Given he will have to book Smackdown more decently, per FOX's demands, Raw will get kicked both in ratings and in popular opinion. Maybe then he decides to book something with some effort on it to try and elevate what to him is the best show ever. I know that the 3 hours a week are lucrative...but he should have taken this opportunity with contracts having been renegotiated to set Raw back to 2 hours.

It doesn't really matter that their ratings in both shows are rock bottom. That is expected. More and more people are giving up conventional TV every day. But they are still #1 on the coveted 18-19 demo almost every week where they don't have to compete with NFL or NBA. And even in those days they still rank pretty high, with the difference being they are topped only by programs regarding football or basketball. And they mostly top over the rest. As long as they are killing it on the main demo, money will continuously be thrown into their face. It is no coincidence they got fat new deals and that Fox decided to pickup Smackdown. A live show with low cost that actually retains a good portion of those who are still watching the advertising? Who wouldn't want that? As long as they remain strong in the relevant demos, they will be fine.

Takeover Blackpool has three good matches and two meh matches in my opinion.

Eddie Dennis(TERRIBLE) vs Dave Mastiff and Travis Banks vs Jordan Devlin(infuriatingly annoying) just don't appeal to me. Dennis looks like a goober, not a wrestler. Jordan Devlin's gimmick is awful and looks like a midget with a giant head. Seriously, is his gimmick anything besides he was trained by Finn? I do not understand the appeal at all.

That said, with such low expectations, the only direction for them to go is a positive one. Rest of the card I'm rather excited about, but can't watch until Sunday.

NXT UK Takeover: Blackpool

Mustache Mountain vs Drake & Gibson - **** 1/2

Banks vs Devlin - N/R

Devlin vs Balor - *** 1/2

Dennis vs Mastiff - *** 1/2

Storm vs Ripley © - ****

Coffey vs Dunne © - *****

Verdict: Good 1st Takeover for the UK brand. The title matches all delivered. The post main event debut was icing on the cake.

Eddie Dennis vs Dave Mastiff blew me away. Then again my expectations for it were super low. It’s a shame Eddie has such a terrible look.

Whole show was good, didn't really care about Finn and dollar store knock off Finn though.

Eddie is a weird one. Dude has crazy strength and cuts good promos but he's so gangly and awkward. Hope he makes the most of the new UK Performance Centre.

Devlin does look like Balor with the proportions slightly off but he's actually a pretty good wrestler. Everyone was buzzing about his his match with WALTER (free to watch here:

). Speaking of WALTER. His debut was hype as hell. Better than weeks of boring vignettes followed by everyone debuting on the same show in squash matches like on the main roster. WALTER didn't cut a promo and didn't have a match and he looked like a total boss who could have beaten Dunne if he wanted to.
