Delucia was primarily a PANCRASE fighter, who also fought at UFC 1 (in the alternate bout) and UFC 2, where he was clobbered by Royce Gracie in the second round of the tourney. He had a good career with PANCRASE, but was never on the same level as the Shamrocks, Funakis and Takadas.

Main News of September by Carl Klington

Nevada has regulated MMA as a sport! The governor of Nevada, Bob Miller said that he enjoys watching MMA and he thinks that MMA doesn't harm anyone! "If you can't stand it don't watch it!" he said to us when we interviewed him. This is a great day for the whole MMA world!

Fights of September by Daniel Keeley

UFC 19: Torch of War was the only big event held last month. Main Event featured Renzo Gracie who lost his last fight to Royce Gracie. The reigning World's Strongest Man Tibor Kazimir fought in the Co-Main Event against Oleg Taktarov.

Fight of the Month

This one's from UFC 19: Torch of War (Suprise?) as the former UFC Heavyweight champ Brock "Lionheart" Lockhart was going to face Melton Brown in a fight. The fight began with Lockhart's huge right hand which immidiately knocked Brown down. Lockhart decided to let him up and as soon as Brown was up, he was down again. This time Lockhart had just thrown him down. Lockhart waited and soon the ref pulled Brown up. Lockhart kept circling around and then he launched a devastating series of shots which was enough to pin Brown to the side of the cage. Lockhart kept punching and soon the ref signaled that the match ended and pulled Lockhart away from Brown. Lockhart won via TKO(Punches) in 2:13 of Round 1. (Fantastic)

Main Event(s) of the Month:

Main Event of the UFC 19 was between Renzo Gracie and the debuting Amaury Bitetti. Bitetti suprised everyone with his submission defence as he managed to defend his way to the second round. Gracie's submission skills were just too much as he made Bitetti tap out with a nicely executed Rear Naked Choke. Gracie won via Submission(RNC) in 6:10 of Round 2. (Average)

Shortlist Fight(s) of the Month:

Kenwyne Ryans had his debut match against the undefeated "American Dream" Eddie Haskil in the Lightweight division of the UFC. The fight went all the way to the 4th round. Haskil got a double leg takedown in the beginning of the round and he landed to the Ryan's guard. Haskil started to pound Ryans with hammerfists. Ryans looked like that he had had enough of this and he caught one of Haskil's punches, threw his other leg over Ryans head and locked the armbar. Short struggle ended to Haskil's tap out! Ryans won via Submission(Armbar) in 2:45 of Round 2. (Decent)

In the Co-Main Event of the UFC 19: Torch of War, the World's Strongest Man, Tibor Kazimir was set to fight against the always dangerous "Russian Bear" Oleg Taktarov. The first round was a pure war as both men shared HARD shots but they both managed to stay up. The second round started the same way. They walked to the middle of the Octagon and started to pound each other. Taktarov seemed to take the control with his shots. A combination from Taktarov was countered with a succesfull takedown and Kazimir made his way to the Mount of Taktarov. A few elbows later Taktarov was unable to defence himself and the ref stopped the fight. Kazimir won via TKO(Punches) in 4:37 of the Round 2.(Great)

Fights of the October by Daniel Keeley

UFC 20: One Night Wild offered us a pretty poor event with poor matches and a few good ones. It was also the longest UFC event this far as three of the fights went to the fourth round. There was a bit of criticism because of Heikki Knihti's fight not being even in the Co-Main event. This was seen in the amount of people in the crowd as only 287 people came to see it as the UFC 19 had 481 people watching it.

Fight of the Month:

Murilo Bustamante was set to fight against Sean "The Man" Johnson in the Middleweight division of the UFC. The first round was about submission defence and ground control as Bustamante managed to keep Johnson down and tried to submit him over and over again. The second round started with Bustamante's takedown defence but it was countered by Johnson's knee to the head of Bustamante. It wasn't enough to knock him out but he was now in the ground with Johnson in the side control. Johnson hit punches and moved to the mount at the same time. Once he was there, he launced few elbows and then he started to pound Bustamante's head with huge hammerfists. The ref jumped to stop the fight and the match was over. Johnson won via TKO(Punches) in 3:10 of Round 2.

Main Event(s) of the Month:

In the Main Event of the UFC 20: One Wild Night the Light Heavyweight champion of UFC, Guy Mezger fought against Bas Rutten. The fight was very average until the second minute of the 4th round. Mezger scored huge shots to the face of Rutten and Bas was majorly rocked. Mezger launched a left uppercut and missed it. He stepped back and fell to the ground holding his stomach. The ref stopped Rutten from continuing striking and he awarded the win for Rutten via KO(Liver Shot) in 2:39 of Round 4 for the UFC Light Heavyweight title.

Shortlist Fight(s) of the Month:

The #2 Pound-For-Pound fighter Heikki Knihti was set to fight against Leon Simmons who some retard decided to call "The Prototype". The first round included several takedown attempts from Simmons who calls his style "Traditional Jiu Jitsu"... And of course, Knihti pounding his ass with several kicks and one head kick which knocked Simmons down. The second round started with... Simmons' takedown attempt which failed yet again! In the 8th minute Knihti launced a flurry of punches and Simmons was dropped to his back. Knihti got to open guard position and started to pound his face with series of strikes. The ref stopped the fight. Winner via TKO(Punches) in 8:00 of Round 2. (Good)

Fights of the November by Daniel Keeley

This is just a small update cause the Main Event of the month and the Fight of the Month is the same and none of shortlisted fighters had a fight this month. The month featured few Independant fights and the UFC 21: Stay Hungry. Seems like that UFC's staff are out of ideas for event names as they recycle their event names!

Fight of the Month and Main Event of the Month:

This fight was the main event of the UFC 21: Stay Hungry. Ken Shamrock, the UFC Heavyweight champion was set to fight against Steve Jennum. Jennum isn't the biggest name of UFC and the question is that what has he done to deserve a title shot? But to the match. The match began with a dominance of Shamrock and it continued that way. Shamrock took Jennum down with a nice single leg take down. They scrambled on the floor for a while and suddenly Jennum was tapping out. Shamrock was twisting Jennum's ankle and that was enough for a win. Winner via Submission(Ankle Lock) in 2:33 of Round 1 and still the UFC Heavyweight champion, Ken Shamrock! (Fantastic)

These 2 fought before, and Knihti got his arse handed to him. Can't see it being any different here.

Co-Main Event MW: Rickson Gracie (2-2) (#7 P4P, #3 MW) vs. Sean "The Man" Johnson (4-1) (#6 MW)

In real life, you pick Rickson. In the game, where the modder underpowered the guy, you pick his opponent.

HW: Cal Worsham (1-0) (#8 HW) vs. Tibor Kazimir (2-1) (#9 P4P, #2 SHW)

A weight advantage and a skill advantage. I hope Worsham like the taste of fist.

LW: Kenwyne Ryans (1-0) (#1 FW) vs. Rumina Sato (0-2) (#2 LW)

Yeah, squash. Syn, has the UFC got a LW title?

LHW: Ernie Verdicia (1-1) vs. Todd Medina (1-1) (#7 LHW)

Medina has beaten better opposition, I'm guessing. His fight to win, therefore.

Main News of December by Carl Klington

In my opinion the biggest news of this month was the debut of EF. We here are sorry that we didn't get info about the event before our last magazine which prevented our readers from predicting it... But yeah, so Extreme Fighting had their first show which included the crowning of both, Heavy- and Middleweight champions!

Misc.

We will send our readers a list of next months cards as soon as we hear get the lists from EF's and UFC's presidents. The list will also include an article from the MMANews 1995 MMA Awards.

Fights of December by Daniel Keeley

This was the first month ever to have two shows in one month. UFC 22: Destructive Appetite (Can't they come up with new names?) had a main event which is possibly the biggest match of 1995 as Royce Gracie (6-0) taking on the "Finnish Flash" Heikki Knihti (8-1). In EF 1 we saw Remco Pardoel (0-3) take on Zane Frasier (2-3) for the EF Heavyweight title and in the Main Event, Thaddeus Luster (1-1-1) fought against Minoki Ichihara (1-2) for the EF Middleweight title.

Fight of the Month:

This is from UFC 22 as Kenwyne Ryans fought against Rumina Sato. Ryans did short work of Sato as his striking skills were enough to drop Sato to the ground and finish him of with elbows from the mount. Ryans won via TKO(Elbows) in 2:03 of Round 1. (Fantastic)

Main Event(s) of the Month:

The Main Event of the EF 1 included Thaddeus Luster, Minoki Ichihara and the EF Middleweight title. The first five minutes was dominated by Ichihara on the stand up. Then Luster managed to take Ichihara down after he was pinned against the cage. Luster was in the side control and Ichihara started to scramble his way out. Somehow Luster got his back and he locked the Rear Naked Choke. Ichihara had to tap out and Luster was the first ever EF Middleweight champion! Winner via Submission(RNC) in 5:51 of Round 1 and the new EF Middleweight champion, Thaddeus Luster!

What does this combination tell you; Heikki Knihti, Royce Gracie and The Middleweight championship of the UFC? Answer is a great match! The match started with Royce taking Knihti down and smothering him but not being able to finish the match. The second round was just a copy of the first round and so we got to the third round with Gracie leadin in points. The third round began... The fighters clinched and they wrestled for a while. Royce shooted for a takedown and Knihti got somekind of a Guillotine locked in. They crashed to the ground and Royce was in Knihti's guard. Knihti signaled to the ref that the fight was over and then the ref noticed that Gracie was unconcisous. A replay of the events showed that Gracie's head crashed to the ground when Knihti had his head in the Guillotine! What a suprising victory by Heikki Knihti! Winner via Knock Out(Slam?) in 0:51 of Round 3 and the NEW UFC Middleweight champion... HEIKKI KNIHTI! (Great)

Shortlist fight(s) of the Month:

Cal Worsham was set to fight against Tibor Kazimir in the UFC 22: Destructive Appetite. The fight went to Kazimir who took the win via Unanimous Decision. (Average)

This was the Co-Main Event of the UFC 22. Rickson Gracie took on Sean "The Man" Johnson in the Middleweight division of the UFC. Rickson took Johnson down as soon as the fight began and he just pounded Johnson from the bottom of his heart. The ref was already ready to step in to end the match but Johnson managed to sweep Rickson and he got the the mount. Johnson started to pound and after a while the ref stopped the fight! Johnson won via TKO(Punches) in 1:40 of Round 1. (Great)

MMANews New Year's Special!

Daniel Keeley here with the second ever MMANews awards ceremony! This is a new year's special magazine which will only come to our subscribers! We will once again look at the top 10 Pound-For-Pound fighters and we will also give the same awards as last year!

MMANews End Of Year Awards 1994:

Fighter of the Year: Heikki Knihti!

-We were fully confident that Royce would win this again but no! Knihti won him with a bit of luck and so we awarded him this award! With his 9-1 record he is also the Pound-For-Pound leader. He has never been in a bad match and he is the king of having great matches. One of the most exciting fighters to watch and we wish him luck for 1996!

Rise of the Year: Bas Rutten

-From 0-0 to 3-0 and he also became the UFC Light Heavyweight champion. You can't achieve much more in the current state of MMA. We sure are looking for Rutten's next year as the champion.

Fall of the Year: Rickson Gracie

-He was once a BIG name. Now he's just the worst of the Gracie family. 3 losses and 0 wins made sure that he will get this award! We wish him luck for next year!

Promotion of the Year: UFC

-There still isn't any other options! UFC just keeps driving MMA forward and by giving us great shows, they keep getting even more fans for them and for MMA!

Team of the Year: C-4 MMA

-They have Brock Lockhart (Former UFC HW Champion), Christopher Leninger (Former UFC LHW Champion) and Thaddeus Luster (Current EF Middleweight, Former UFC Welterweight Champion) and that shows just how good their training is!

Show of the Year: UFC 18: Into The White

-Rutten beat Delucia in the Co-Main Event and Knihti beat Rickson Gracie in the Main Event. This show just boosted UFC's popularity so much that it has to be mentioned!

Fight of the Year: Renzo Gracie vs. Scott Baker

-FANTASTIC fight from UFC 12: Battle Of Evermore. Renzo ended the match quicly with an Armbar from side mount. This match will be remembered for a long time!

Worst Fight of the Year: Kazuo Takahashi vs. Jack McGlaughlin

-40 minute sleeping contest from UFC 12: Battle Of Evermore. Takahashi won this match by pinni McGlaughlin to the fences...

Knock Out of the Year: Heikki Knihti vs. Royce Gracie

-How to knock out Royce Gracie? Just use DDT and that will surely work. That's atleast what Heikki Knihti thought and it really did work! Royce will surely remember that slam for the rest of his life.

Submission of the Year: Royce Gracie vs. Renzo Gracie

-Best possible way to show the power of BJJ. Royce saw a opening that most people couldn't use but Royce used it in form of Triangle Choke. Renzo didn't tap out and lost his consciousness.

Main Event of the Year: Guy Mezger vs. Christopher Leninger

-The Main Event of UFC 14: Forced to Fear. Mezger beat Leninger to become the UFC Light Heavyweight champion. Fantastic fight but in my opinion it wasn't suitable to be a main event!

Upset of the Year:Frank Shamrock defeats Renzo Gracie

-I From UFC 21: Stay Hungry. Frank defeated Renzo with a picture perfect Armbar and many people, especially the Gracie Family, didn't like about that!
