One thing I liked was in EWR how there was the Crowd Reaction (1-100) and Match Rating (1-100) and some combination of those factors gave you the final match rating. I think having visible grades for both of those factors at least show up would be interesting, even if we don't have to see the whole match grading system.

Matches aren't that simple though, that's the problem. EWR was simple and each segment was basically graded on it's own with the result worked out at the end... TEW has so many more factors that weigh in, bonuses for star quality, penalties for chemistry, crowd burnout, charisma, road agent notes...

Many of them could be put into one side or another but some just don't fit. So any results you got at the end wouldn't look like the match rating or crowd reaction score because of the sheer number of variables taken into account. Ultimately, the Dirt Sheet feature will show everyone just how much goes into deciding a match rating but its WAAAAAAAY more complicated than people ever seem to think it is. Like, ridiculously complicated.

Entirely agreed. If you grade things out of 10 then you can use whole numbers between 0 and 10. Start giving out fractions and you are then using a 20 or 40 point scale, so you might as well just use that instead. Giving out part numbers just shows that your scale isn't sensitive enough for you to use, which indicates that it's broken in the first place. :p

Didn't IGN used to give out ratings like 93.4? Hell, they should have gone up to a 1000 point scale and not down to a 10 point :D

Hopefully the 93.4 is now being rated as a 9.34 otherwise they're only highlighting how stupid their old system was. <img alt=":p" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/tongue.png.ceb643b2956793497cef30b0e944be28.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png"></p><p> </p><p> Seriously though, reviews going to much more than a 10 point scale are gonna be pretty odd... the difference between a 7 and an 8 point game isn't a huge amount really, the difference between a 74 and a 75 point game is just silly.</p><p> </p><p> I'd also like to say that any 10 point system with an average score of 7 is broken. People say I'm a harsh reviewer but if you look through the scores of things I'd reviewed you'd find that they average roughly in the middle of any scale I'm using. 6 isn't a bad score, it's above average... and yet you'd struggle to find places where that is the case.</p><p> </p><p> /rant about scales and stuff</p><p> </p><p> And now to say that it's hard making TEW mods, grading people out of a 100 is hard. But it's necessary otherwise skill development would be crazy in the game! Imagine being graded out of 10 and gaining a whole point all of sudden! MADNESS! <img alt=":)" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/smile.png.142cfa0a1cd2925c0463c1d00f499df2.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png"></p>

<p>I like the 100 skill points we get in TEW/WMMA. I like the letter grades, although I didn't think I would. I will probably go back to the points, but not because I don't like the letter grades. It's going to be more because alot of the grades that are lower then higher grades stand out (brighter, or for whatever reason) more to me. It's an eye thing for me. A bright yellow F+ stands out to me more then a dark colored D- (and the fact one has a + and the other a -, lol). I've often had to go back and re-look again, to make sure I didn't make a mistake because of this.</p><p> </p><p>

That would be the only reason I convert back to the 100 instead of using letter grades, for ease of sight. That is of course, unless the grades are colored in such a way that the brighter one's are all higher then the lower ones (being darker). Then, believe it or not, I think I would want to keep the grades instead. I like it being a bit less exact, which was totally opposite of what side I took in the original debate about them.</p>

<p>What I did for a mini-mod where I added a whole fed of user created characters was use a random number generator. </p><p> </p><p>

I generated X amount of skills (X being the total number of skills appropriate for the role) and generated the random numbers. </p><p> </p><p>

I then slotted them into where I felt they should go and I had a guy made. I then went back and tweaked it to get it right, but I felt better knowing it wasn't me arbitrarily setting this guy at a 45.6 and the other guy at a 64.5 but the universe <img alt=":D" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/biggrin.png.929299b4c121f473b0026f3d6e74d189.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p>
