The Late Night Warz!

I agree that FX is a rising star they have several great television shows. The fact remains though that Conan would be leaving NBC and arguablly the best gig there is out there for at this point in time a second tier cable network as far as ratings. However you gotta remember what the PERCEPTION of him going to cable would be. It would be looked at as a failed demotion and exile from anything to do with network television.

Atleast if he goes to FOX and creates his own show he's still on network television and has a very credible chance to kill Leno in the ratings.

No way that Cable can generate him even half the ratings he's getting in network t.v and no way any cable company not named Comedy Central can give him any sort of credibility what so ever. The only reason CC can do it is because they already have two of the hottest guys out there with Colbert and Stewart.

If F/X wants to get into late night there are plenty of guys out to do it with. TBS showed this with Lopez but O'Brien going to cable I think would look like going from batting cleanup for the Yankees to playing for the Tulsa Tornado minor leagues.

The deal has now been reached and stands at $45 million dollars (33 to Conan, severence pay for his staff equals the rest).

O’Brien will be free to begin another TV job as soon as September, NBC said.

ABC said they were not interested, obviously CBS is out, and that only leaves FOX which has been known to be the best fit anyway.
