NYCW CHRISTMAS OF CHAMPIONS

Held at Pennsylvania Park

Saturday Week 2 December 2014 Att: 2000

PRE SHOW

In a bout that had solid in-ring action but not much in the way of heat, Kentucky Bill, Matt Hocking, Regular Joe and The New York Doll defeated The Barrio Boys and Militant Solutions in 6:17 when The New York Doll defeated Felipe Caballero by pinfall.

Match Rating D-

A rest of the roster match to warm the crowd up, with the lower echelon heel teams taking the victory over the face jobber squad.

MAIN SHOW

David Mack VS Hugh De Aske

While the fans weren't expecting much at the start of this match, the pace was frantic from the get go as the dread pirate pushed David Mack for all he was worth. Moves and countermoves were performed at a lightning pace for several minutes. The finish came in rapid fashion as well as Mack went for a rollup that got reversed by De Aske, and then reversed again by Mack to get the three count.

In a match that had some good action and average heat, David Mack defeated Hugh de Aske in 8:22 by pinfall.

Match Rating C

This was pretty much a tryout for De Aske as his contract was coming due. He has been with us a long time, and despite his talents, I hadn't really seen much improvement or ability to get heat from the crowd. So I had him go all out with me to really get a feel for his skill in the ring, and I have to say it was impressive enough for me to keep him around barring insane contract demands.

Haley Buck is with her team the Ring Generals in the locker room before the match.

Haley: " Okay boys, it's time to remind everyone that we are the best tag team in NYCW. People think we have fallen off the radar and they don't mention our names when it comes to the tag championship, even though we are multiple time champions. But we can make a statement tonight that we are still here and still the team to beat by going out there and beating the hell out of Wild Tribe and that goon they are teaming up with. I have gotten you a good partner that can hold up his end, and now it's up to you to take care of business. So are you going to go out there and show everyone who the best tag team is?!"

Statler & Waldorf: " Hell Yeah!"

The Ring Generals then do their customary sprint to the ring as Haley follows behind.

Rating D+

While the fans weren't as 'negative' for lack of a better word for this than last month in similiar angles, there was definitely less of a response from the audience this time than usual for one of Haley's pep talks.

The Ring Generals & Lassana Makutsi VS Wild Tribe & Sammy the Shark in 6 man tag.

It was immediately obvious that the bitter feud between the Ring Generals and Wild Tribe hadn't subsided over the past few months as both teams tore into each other with fury. Both sides were fairly even and frequently tagged out with neither side maintaining an edge for long. After over ten minutes of back and forth action, the fight between the Ring Generals and Wild Tribe spilled to the outside, leaving the third member of each team in the ring as Lassana Makutsi took on Sammy the shark. Sammy tried to end it with his Ace in the Hole cutter, but Makutsi was able to reverse into a suplex and covered Sammy for the pinfall and the win for his team.

In a bout that had solid in-ring action and average heat, Dean Waldorf, Marv Statler and Lassana Makutsi defeated Tribal Warrior, Wildman Toma and Sammy The Shark in 12:14 when Lassana Makutsi defeated Sammy The Shark by pinfall.

Match Rating D+

An okay match that served the purpose of reminding the audience of the Ring General-Wild Tribe feud, while giving Makutsi the opportunity to score a rare victory over Sammy, who is heading back to USPW.

http://i336.photobucket.com/albums/n329/Dragonmack/DeanWaldorf.jpghttp://i336.photobucket.com/albums/n329/Dragonmack/MarvStatler.jpghttp://i336.photobucket.com/albums/n329/Dragonmack/KidToma.jpghttp://i336.photobucket.com/albums/n329/Dragonmack/TribalWarrior.jpg

The match may be over, but the action wasn't as Wild Tribe continued brawling with the Ring Generals outside the ring. Both teams ignored the official and the bell and kept fighting all the way to the back until finally they were separated by the rest of the wrestlers.

Rating D-

Once again, the audience wasn't very vocal during this encounter, but it was necessary to set up the next step of my planned storyline.

Old School Principals © VS The Scions of Wrestling for the NYCW Tag Team titles

This was a battle of veterans trying to prove they weren't done yet versus a young and talented pair of brothers with an impeccable pedigree and a will to prove they were worthy of their legacy. Sanders and Mauler used every bit of skill and experience they had to fend off the brothers who were determined to take the titles and the battle went back and forth for over ten minutes. But finally, as Greg fought on the outside with Mauler, Matthew countered a figure four attempt by Sanders and reversed it into his father's patented Proton Lock. Sanders struggled valiantly to reach the ropes, but Keith had him positioned dead center in the ring, and Sanders had no choice but to eventually tap, giving the victory to the Scions.

In a match that had some good action and average heat, The Scions of Wrestling defeated Old School Principals in 13:17 when Matthew Keith defeated Rick Sanders by submission with a Proton Lock. The Scions of Wrestling win the NYCW Tag Team titles.

Match Rating C

While an excellent ring performance from the Scions is expected, OSP did a fantastic job of making it a very competitive match and end up having this be a real 'passing of the torch' performance.

http://i336.photobucket.com/albums/n329/Dragonmack/GregGauge.jpghttp://i336.photobucket.com/albums/n329/Dragonmack/MatthewKeith.jpg

After the Scions hands are raised in victory and they have been given the tag belts, Greg and Matt grab a microphone and address the crowd.

Greg: " New York, you have just witnessed the first step in what will be a destiny of championship that far exceeds anything that worthless bastard who calls himself our father has ever or will ever achieved. The sons will surpass the father and that deadbeat will pale in comparison to the legacy my brother and I will leave in this industry!"

Matt then grabs the microphone.

Matt: " That's right, my brother and I are the present and the future of this business and this is only the first of what undoubtedly will be dozens if not hundreds of championships we will hold. But tonight it's time to go out and celebrate! Fathers, lock up your daughters because the Scions are hitting the town tonight!"

Matt and Greg then exit the ring with the belts over their shoulders.

Rating D

While not getting much of a response from the audience, I still need to fill some gaps in the show as we aren't a pure wrestling federation ( at least not yet, depending on where Ota eventually wants to go) and these segments reinforce the differences between the brothers.

http://i336.photobucket.com/albums/n329/Dragonmack/NYCW_TriState.jpg

Cameron Vessey VS Nelson Callum © for the NYCW Tri-State Regional Championship.

Former tag partners faced each other in the ring and, having been partners, knew each others moves and tricks well, leading to a virtual stalemate in the ring. Although the action was fast paced and both in and out of the ring, neither the challenger nor the champion was able to gain any lasting edge over their opponent. As the frustration level grew on both sides, the fight went outside the ring once again, and into the first rows of the crowd. The referee began counting, but neither former Hot Shot was paying attention as the desire to prove himself superior to his ex partner drove both men to continue fighting. Finally, the referee reached the count of ten and called the match a draw.

In a match that had some good action and average heat, Nelson Callum drew with Cameron Vessey in 15:14 following a double count out.

Match Rating C

Solid beginning to this feud as both men performed well and hopefully began raising the interest of the fans.

http://i336.photobucket.com/albums/n329/Dragonmack/NYCW-1.jpg

http://i336.photobucket.com/albums/n329/Dragonmack/MikeyJames.jpghttp://i336.photobucket.com/albums/n329/Dragonmack/FumihiroOta.jpg

Mikey James comes down to the ring with the KONY trophy and grabs a microphone.

James: " Victory in the KONY tournament was a great honor. So is the ability to challenge for the Empire title. But my victory over my master last month has shown me my true path, and that is to bring him back from the darkness and onto the path of the Way of the Fist that he has forsaken."

James pauses for a moment then continues.

James: " But in order to return my master from the darkness, I must force him to remove that symbol of the darkness which he carries and that is the mask he wears. That mask is the source of his pride and also the source of the darkness he carries. So even though the title shot I have earned is a great honor I will place that title shot up against the mask of my master. Do you agree to my challenge Master?"

The crowd waits a few moments, then suddenly a cloud of smoke appears in the ring, and out from the cloud steps the Warrior of Darkness, Ota. Ota stares intently at his former apprentice for several seconds, then slowly nods in acceptance, and then steps back into the cloud, which then dissipates as Ota vanishes. James then picks up the trophy and heads to the back.

Rating D-

Even though the crowd has developed an antipathy to these non wrestling segments recently, some are necessary in order to set conditions and background for the various feuds.

http://i336.photobucket.com/albums/n329/Dragonmack/JesseChristian-1.jpg VS http://i336.photobucket.com/albums/n329/Dragonmack/StevenParker.jpg

Jesse Christian VS Steven Parker

Parker was fresh off his big victory over former Empire Champion David Mack last month and looking to continue building momentum as he faced the veteran Jesse Christian. But the ultra tough southern strong man isn't ready to step aside for the younger generation just yet, and brought all his power and brawling advantage after the Rip Chord protege Parker. Christian controlled the early portion of the match until a rake of the eyes allowed Parker to gain the momentum and take the stronger Christian to the mat where he tried to wear the veteran down. Christian rallied back and the match went back and forth till Christian tried for the Torture Rack. Parker managed to kick his way out of the hold and then countered with his Future Shock to get the victory in a hard fought match.

In a match that had some good action and average heat, Steven Parker defeated Jesse Christian in 14:57 by pinfall with a Future Shock.

Match Rating C+

Excellent match as Parker continues to impress in getting a great performance out of the veteran Christian.

http://i336.photobucket.com/albums/n329/Dragonmack/FreddieDatsun.jpghttp://i336.photobucket.com/albums/n329/Dragonmack/DarrylDevine.jpg

Freddie Datsun is backstage being interviewed about his upcoming match.

Datsun: " Devine, it figures you would take the cheap road and cheat to win the belt! But I have a rematch clause and this time the match will be in a steel cage. Nowhere for you to run, nowhere for you to hide, and no way for you to prevent me beating the hell out of you and taking back that title you didn't earn. I will be the Empire Champion again after tonight Devine!"

Right then Devine barges into the area and gets in the face of Datsun while grabbing the microphone from the interviewer.

Devine: " The hell you will you washed up has been! I am the champion! I am the greatest ever in this business and not you nor anybody else is gonna take this title from me! Inside a cage or not makes no difference! All it means is that it will be that much easier for me to finally put your worthless hide out to pasture! I am the champion and whether you like it or not, live with it because it is never going to change!"

Devine shoves Datsun, who then shoves Devine back and the two start brawling backstage until finally separated by officials and other wrestlers.

Rating C-

At least the main stars get some life out of the fans as we build up some hype for the main event.

http://i336.photobucket.com/albums/n329/Dragonmack/MikeyJames.jpg VS http://i336.photobucket.com/albums/n329/Dragonmack/FumihiroOta.jpg

Mikey James VS Ota, Warrior of Darkness in a title shot vs Mask match.

Once again master and student met in the ring, this time with the stakes raised as Ota's defining ninja mask was on the line against the guaranteed title shot that James had won last month at KONY. Once again the battle looked like a stalemate as each man knew the others moves well and had counters ready for every offensive attempt of their opponent. Once again it came down to the signature kicks of the participants, only this time it was Ota slipping the kick of James and replying with his Ninja Strike on target, flattening his former protege and allowing the Warrior of Darkness to cover James for the pinfall and the victory, thus retaining his mask and gaining James' guaranteed title shot.

In a bout that had a good crowd and some decent in-ring action, Ota, Warrior of Darkness defeated Mikey James in 17:57 by pinfall with a Ninja Strike.

Match Rating D

That was, in a word, disappointing. The buildup had gone well, the stakes were high, the crowd was actually very into the story and had a lot of energy, and for once it was the wrestlers who dropped the ball. Neither Ota nor James were on their game tonight, and the action in the ring had more of a rote quality to it that made it seem to fall flat. I know we all have off nights, but this one came at a bad time, and from both participants.

Freddie Datsun VS Darryl Devine © for the NYCW Empire Championship in a Cage Match

Both men eyed each other intently as the cage lowered over the ring, trapping both men inside with each other. As soon as the bell sounded, Datsun tore into Devine with a furious physical assault, seemingly determined to take back the belt by pure intense brawling. Devine weathered the assault however, and then countered back with his own onslaught as the intensity rose and the blood began flowing from both men when the cage itself got involved in each wrestlers attacks. Finally, as the match approached twenty minutes of hard fought action, both men were looking for the big move to put down their opponent so they could pin them or escape the cage. Devine went for the Dream Drop, but was blocked, Datsun then went for the Patriot Press after a back body drop. But Devine once again wriggled out of it and countered with a kick to Datsun's gut, setting up another Devine Dream Drop, this time connecting. Devine drops over Datsun's prone body and the referee counts, 1...2...3.

In a match that had some good action and a good crowd, Darryl Devine defeated Freddie Datsun in a Cage Modern match in 19:34 by pinfall with a Devine Dream Drop. Darryl Devine makes defence number 1 of his NYCW Empire title.

Match Rating C+

An excellent main event as both men stepped it up a notch and managed to get the energy back from the disappointing preceding match.

OVERALL SHOW C-

I must admit when I saw this rating from the TEW.COM website I got very upset. In my opinion, and also in the opinion of the site, every match but the James-Ota confrontation was good or great. The angles were flat but we had kept those to a minimum in the show and we had closed off with a strong main event. But apparently the weak semi-final was enough in their opinion to drag down the total show to a level similiar to what we had been getting all year.

Letting everyone know that I am bringing this dynasty to a wrap now.

While writing up the last show, I found it extremely hard to muster the enthusiasm to do the write up. Not because it was hard or complicated, because it was actually a simpler overall show than most I have done recently, but because I don't really have any overall direction from this point, and things have just seemed to stall, both in the dynasty and ingame where it doesn't really feel I am making any progress.

I appreciate the large amount of support, comments, and accolades I have garnered from this dynasty over the last 15 months. All the participation and support have made this worthwhile and I thank everyone that took time to comment, predict, read, or even just occasionally glance through this dynasty. At currently just under 45, 000 views it is definitely most recognized of my several works, and I am truly grateful for all the attention it has gotten. I will probably take some time off from writing here and I think that this is it for the David Mack Chronicles ( at least until a new TEW comes out ;) ) as if ( probably when) the writing bug hits me again, I will do something different. I will still be around the boards daily, reading and predicting on other diaries ( and playing some mafia).

So once again, thank you all and welcome to the end of The David Mack Chronicles : NYCW -The Homecoming. :)

Sad to see 'The Homecoming' come to a close but I have enjoyed your diaries greatly and want to say "Thank You" for providing entertainment, advice and tips via PM's on improving my game and a mental escape from our everyday lives. :)

This has been a great read Dragonmack form start to finish, but I can fully understand you bringing this to an end.

It just looks like you've hit a proverbial glass ceiling in the game and can't really take NYCW any higher (hey realism has come to TEW) and if you don't feel like you can progress/don't really have any direction then it probably is time to call it a day.

Thanks for the read Dragonmack but as a writer myself I fully understand and I am sure I am not the only one that sometimes things need to end. Plus if you arent into it anymore there is no real reason to keep it going and try to force things together because ultimately that doesnt work. Anyways thanks again Dragonmack!

A fantastic voyage from the start where it did its beginning to the now that is its finish. The Homecoming was my anchor in the shape of a rock. It kept me on the courses, and now I will blow away.

In other words,

Thanks Dragonmack!

Alright, so I'm just on page 53, but I have a question that's been burning for a while: who are the Amish cousins? You just let Simon go, so I don't think we'll figure him out. I'm guessing one of them is Jebediah, but I have no clue on the other...

EDIT: And now I feel like an idiot, having just found out this was over immediately after posting the question.

The Amish Cousins were based on one of the GDS'ers here Apupunchau, who is in a wrestling school and he and his partner are using an Amish gimmick. One was Jebediah renamed, the other was a created character.

Well, I've finally slogged through this beast of a work, and I'm happy to say I did. Really enjoyed reading it, even if I did come a little late to the party. Great job, and don't be surprised if I rip you off in my own diary!
