1996 - The War Begins? Updated?

Oh and JudgeJuryExecutioner, your guess is as good as mine since I am the world's slowest, most easily distracted mod maker. Whenever I think I am getting close to done, I find something that isn't quite working or I remember something that I should have done before. I feel like a massive jerk taking this long doing a mod but I would rather try to make it as close to complete as possible before release so whatever mistakes slip through are relatively minor ones.

 

Its all good buddy. A thousand thanks for all your time and effort that you do put into these things. I'd rather it take time anyhow than be rushed. 1996 was one of my fav time peroids... and it was a year that really set the bar big time.

 

I plan on doing a game with the WWF where the Kliq stays. Can you imagine how different things would be even today if they had never left?

I plan on doing nWo in the WWF. Just need to figure a base storyline :)

Since you guys asked ...

 

This is getting closer to completion at least in terms of data. Been polishing up a few little odds and ends like completing some missing title lineages and some narratives to add a little background. Up to a little over 1700 workers at present and trying to prevent myself from adding any more otherwise this mod will never be completed, but I did feel a large number were necessary to really make this feel like a fleshed out gameworld as opposed to a skeletal mod with just enough workers to make running a game possible but with very limited options.

 

Inspired by the Jericho DVD I'm currently working on adding a storyline based on the Jericho/Malenko feud from 1998. Still got storylines to work on but if I hit a brick wall with those I will release without adding many more.

 

Haven't heard from Nightshadex about pictures in a while, not sure how he is progressing but I imagine there are still a number of worker pictures that need doing. I'd really prefer not to release this mod until all the pictures that can be done have been done.

 

Also, logos etc haven't really been done. If anyone who is okay with graphics wants to lend a hand with those I wouldn't say no. Also if anyone feels like volunteering, soon I might be looking for a little more help testing/error spotting. If anyone has the patience to sim a couple years or give the database a once over and report their results PM me and when the data is ready for you to take a look I'll pass it along.

My two cents; first of all, 1700 workers is very impressive, I don't think anymore are needed. Second, I don't think making storylines is necessary at all. Actually, I don't think they're needed at all. About pictures, again, I don't think they're needed either. Most of the guys who download your mod already have one or two of Genadi's mods, including his massive picture pack, so they aren't necessary. If you want to feel special, of course you (NightShadeex) can make them. Togg should have done a fair amount of logos on an excellent background, with smooth cutting. If you need any that his pack(s) don't have, you can shoot me a PM.

 

Also. I want to offer myself to be a tester :p

Exactly that. Needless to say I have waited for this.. since TEW10 came out. And in my honest opinion, I think you would just do extra, unnecessary work, if you do all the storylines etc.

While mine are quickly made and rather unpolished (and thus perhaps not exactly what you might be looking for), you are free to use my logos - perhaps as placeholders untill you find something better looking.

Yeah, you're probably right. I have an unhealthy interest in small details and I'm not particularly good at getting them all done. I'll try to concentrate on just finishing up the content I have rather than adding anything new.

 

As for the pictures though, I really do prefer to have a completeish pic pack with this so my much beloved unknown indy guys can have a face to go with their name. I'll see how that goes though, if it doesn't happen it doesn't happen.

In terms of data it's mostly done. I've freaking ate, slept, lived and breathed this mod for the last week or so. My eyes hurt and I've started applying TEW stats to everyday items. A glass is neither half full or half empty, it's about a D+ to C- in fullness.

 

At the moment I'm just finishing the incomplete stuff like bios and narratives and as always, testing bits and pieces. I do have a couple of little annoying issues when testing that I am trying to work around.

 

I absolutely hate putting a release date on anything since well, the one time I tried that I was so embarrassingly wrong. But if I don't have this data done within the next month I would be pretty ashamed of myself. Pictures might take a bit longer because of the sheer amount but I will try to jump in as I keep adding more alter egos and things that I forgot about and it's hardly fair for me to constantly increase the amount of work Nightshadex has to do.

 

As it stands the final number of workers will be about 1750 and alter egos are pushing 600 so it's a substantial amount of work.

 

Man, one weird thing about getting close to the end of a mod. As much as I love 1996 I am starting to wish I was working on another year. I have the biggest hankering for a good 1993 or 2002 mod that really pays attention to the indies.

1993 would be cool.... I however (if I may make another suggestion) would love to see a 2000 mod starting in April when Russo and Bischoff hit us with the New Blood angle. I loved the idea, and thought it coulda saved WcW at the time if done correctly.

That would be cool, not sure I will be able to ever stomach making another mod again. One of the problems is there are so many really interesting eras in wrestling ... I tend to build more around the era than a specific angle hence why I went with 1996. So much went on in that year and the late 90s was such an interesting time.

As always, sorry about the delay :o I am just back from another extended period of inactivity on this mod to trying to get it all done.

 

News on this one is that I am about 200 pictures, a few bios and a few narratives away from release.

 

 

That is awesome!
