PRE SHOW

In a match that had some good action but not much in the way of heat, Latin American Exchange (Hernandez & Ultimo Guerrero) defeated The Young Bucks in 5:51 when Hernandez defeated Nick Buck by pinfall with a Dominator. C-

Impact

Sunday, week 3, March 2006

Broadcast on Spike on Monday, week 4, March 2006

In the ring and TNA Director of Authority Dusty Rhodes is congratulating Caprice Coleman on becoming the new TNA Heavyweight Champion. Coleman can’t hide his delight and expresses how proud and honoured he is to be champion. The former champion Brother Ray interrupts proceedings as his music hits and he strides to the ring with purpose. He climbs in and says he wants his rematch. Rhodes concedes he is obliged to give it to him, so Ray says he wants it in the Lockdown cage… at Lockdown. Rhodes and Coleman agree and the rematch is agreed two nights after Coleman takes the title from Ray. C+

Al Snow, Goldust and John Layfield are laughing at how they have been treating Ken Shamrock of late. Goldust is rubbing Gordon suggestively as they speak. The trio says they will find a partner and if Ken Shamrock has the balls, they can meet at Lethal Lockdown. C-

USA II – Jerry Lynn

The opening match of Impact is also the opener of the 2006 TNA Nations Cup and pitted the International team against one of three USA teams in this year’s tournament. As always in this tournament, the competitors fought hard and with pride for the country/team. Lynn proved to be too much for Guido and gave the Americans the lead in the three match quarter final series in 7:11 by pinfall with a Cradle Piledriver. C+

INTERNATIONAL 0 USA II 1

Maven and Mike Sanders are backstage, having a heated chat about Maven’s backstage attacks he has been doing with The Miz. Maven then attacks Sanders and leaves him lying on the concrete. C

Elsewhere backstage and nowhere near Maven, AK-47 are chatting and look happy. That is until the Tag Team Champions come across Albert Bloom and Test Martin. The champions jovial mood sinks as T N A tower over them. Albert and Test look at the champions and look at the belts, before Albert tells Aries and Kash that they will soon take those belts. C

TNA TV TITLE

‘Cowboy’ James Storm (champion) v Kishi

A disappointing title match that was stale and uninspiring. After a series of such good title defences, this was a shame for the Cowboy and he lost the title to Kishi who has been in TNA for a couple of months. Kishi became the new champion in 10:44 by pinfall with a Rump Shaker. Kishi wins the TNA TV title. D+

Mick Foley comes to the ring and says he is delighted to be in Richmond, Virginia. He says he has made Harley Race quit and he will do the same to Abyss inside the cage at Lockdown. He continues by saying that while Abyss might be able to brutalise him, he enjoys it and he also enjoys playing with Abyss’ mind. The show then goes to a commercial for a psychologist based in Richmond. B-

Eddie Guerrero is backstage with Chavo Guerrero Jr. Eddie tells Chavo that they should team up so they can “both right previous wrongs”. Chavo is delighted that he is able to team up with Eddie again. D

Brock Lesnar (with Eric Bischoff) v Bryan Danielson

A great match up and probably the best one that Brock Lesnar has been involved in since arriving in TNA. Lesnar overwhelmed the former World Champion as Danielson struggled to get any significant offence in. Lesnar’s expected victory arrived in 9:55 by pinfall with a Tornado Face Slam. B-

Kevin Kelly is backstage interviewing Williams. Williams says he is exciting at a new arrival due next week and that he can’t wait for the TNA Nations Cup to get under way for the United Kingdom team. C-

Rey Mysterio Jr is in the locker room and speaks of his upset at Eddie Guerrero’s attitude and actions since coming to TNA and that he can’t figure out what the perceived wrongs are that Eddie wants to right. B-

TNA X DIVISION CHAMPIONSHIP

Desmond Wolfe (champion) v Jamie Noble

Desmond Wolfe’s second X Division Championship reign lasted a mere two days as Noble completely outclassed him in a match that while saw some great action was only an average affair. Noble’s rise to the championship concluded in 10:24 by submission with a Guillotine Choke. Jamie Noble wins the TNA X Division title. C-

Backstage and a bad night for ‘Cowboy’ James Storm is being completed as he is suffering a beatdown from Christian Cage and John Layfield. He is surprisingly saved by Steve Corino, who helps up the Cowboy who gets his first favourable reaction from the crowd in over a year. C

In the locker room, and Chuck Palumbo are celebrating Kishi’s TV Title win earlier tonight by drinking champagne. C+

John Layfield v Rey Mysterio Jr

Despite Rey’s anguish at Eddie Guerrero’s actions, he was able to pull off the upset win in this classic David versus Goliath encounter. He was helped by Layfield being too sure of an easy victory, often taking the match and Rey lightly. Mysterio made Layfield pay for this and closed the match out in 15:23 by pinfall with a Springboard Hurricanrana. B-

I'm not gonna lie, I loved that win for Jamie Noble, it was very surprising but awesome. He deserves it. Also, good and intresting win for Kishi. I like seeing Brock rise, also. The stuff between Eddie and Chavo is interesting, as well as the exciting World X Cup.

Maven v Mike Sanders

An acceptable opening contest but one that lacked in excitement. Sanders largely had the better of Sanders, but when Maven feigned injury and got Mickey Jay’s attention, this enabled The Miz to run in and hit Sander with a Skull Krushing Finale. Maven made a ‘miraculous recovery’ to cheaply take the match to ringing boos from the fans in 8:50 by pinfall with a Crossbody Block following interference from The Miz. C-

Backstage and Tony Schiavone says he is the best backstage interviewer in wrestling history. With him is Kishi, who talks up being the TV Title holder and that nobody can take the belt from him. Inside the arena and the crowd grow restless. D-

TNA X DIVISION CHAMPIONSHIP

Jamie Noble (champion) v EZ Money

Noble’s first defence since defeating Desmond Wolfe in Wolfe’s first defence and a much better effort from the new champion than the previous one. It was also a much better match than the opener between Sanders and Maven. Money did give Noble some problems, but Noble proved to be too good and retained in 11:50 by submission with a Guillotine Choke. Jamie Noble makes defence number 1 of his TNA X Division title. B-

Back in the office of the TNA Director of Authority, Dusty Rhodes has summoned Yoshihiro Tajiri to see him. Rhodes tells Tajiri that not only do Japan face Canada in the TNA Nations Cup Quarter Finals, he’s also decide that Tajiri should face Lance Storm at Lockdown. Tajiri is happy. C

Gregory Helms v Jerry Lynn

Helms makes his TNA in ring debut and puts on an impressive performance against the veteran and also impressive Lynn. Action went back and forth and it was one of the TNA’s new additions to the roster that came away with the spoils in 11:41 by pinfall with a Vertebreaker. C+

Backstage and Eric Bischoff is talking about his charge, Brock Lesnar. He hypes Lesnar’s legitimate toughness. He hypes Lesnar’s winning start in TNA which is at fourteen. He says nobody can stop Lesnar on his march to TNA domination. B-

NWA TNA WORLD TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP

AK-47 (champions) v Dudleys

A very good tag team match, one of TNA’s finest in the near five year history. Dudleys, reunited for the first time in a few months due to Brother Ray holding the Heavyweight Championship were strong opponents for the champions and a serious threat. Aries and Kash held firm though, were resilient and withstood what the Dudleys could throw at them. The champions retained in 13:25 when Austin Aries defeated Brother Devon by pinfall with a 450° splash. AK-47 make defence number 9 of their NWA TNA World Tag Team titles. However, AK-47’s music was interrupted during their celebration when Abyss’ music hit and the big masked monster strode to the ring carrying his Feast or Fired briefcase. B-

NWA TNA WORLD TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP

AK-47 (champions) v Abyss

Abyss cashes in his Feast or Fired briefcase and Mickey Jay calls for the bell. The champions, weakened by their tough defence against the Dudleys destroys the champions and cashes in for the championship in 2:27 when Abyss defeated Kid Kash by pinfall with The Black Hole. Abyss wins the NWA TNA World Tag Team titles alone. C

Following the contest, Mike Tenay and Potter recap a tough few days for the now former champions, as they review them being attacked by T N A on Impact. They speculate what will happen to T N A’s Tag Team Championship challenge due for Lockdown now Abyss has won the titles on his own. C+

Christian Cage & John Layfield v Ken Shamrock & Steve Corino

A preview for Lethal Lockdown as half of each team face off in a decent tag team match. Cage and Layfield had more of the match and made the most of their superiority in the bout by taking it in 13:44 when John Layfield defeated Ken Shamrock by pinfall with a Clothesline From Hell. C+

Potter interviews Mick Foley via telephone. Potter asks Foley how he is, who first says he wished he could be there in Aberdeen, South Dakota. Foley says he is sore and has ringing in his head, but he’s had worse and will make Abyss quit in the Lockdown cage. C+

Eddie Guerrero v William Regal

A tremendous match between two wrestlers with hugely contrasting styles. Eddie likes the air but can wrestle with pretty much everybody, while Regal is a great wrestler who can go toe to toe with most. The match also saw distractions from both Chavo Guerrero Jr and Doug Williams, Eddie and Regal’s respective partners. Eddie lied, cheated and stole the victory, it coming in 13:49 by pinfall with a Frog Splash. B

TNA HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP

Caprice Coleman (champion) v Al Snow

A great main event and a great way to end the show. Coleman was hugely impressive in his first defence as Heavyweight Champion and continued his impressive showings from when he was a long standing X Division Champion. Snow wasn’t an easy opponent and gave Coleman plenty to think about, but Coleman finished him off in 18:20 by pinfall with a Thermal Shock. Caprice Coleman makes defence number 1 of his TNA Heavyweight title. B

In a match that had some good action but not much in the way of heat, Johnny Kashmere defeated Shawn Daivari in 6:29 by pinfall with a Backseat Driver. C+

Impact

Sunday, week 1, April 2006

Broadcast on Spike on Monday, week 2, April 2006

Campanelli Stadium, Brockton, MA.

http://t3.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcRVgDA5KvYhL4FjB3P1GaD2y0U3YkP9_7H-PMMwNxI7o6hgY2P7

Impact begins in the office of the TNA Director of Authority. Dusty Rhodes is behind his desk and in front of it are the TNA Heavyweight Champion Caprice Coleman and the man he took the belt from, Brother Ray. Rhodes tells the pair he has drafted together the rematch for Lockdown, but there are a couple of stipulations he wants in the match. The first stipulation is that the match can only be won by escaping the cage. The second is that anybody who tries to interfere in the match will be automatically fired. The third is that this is Brother Ray’s only rematch to regain the championship. Coleman signs straight away. Ray hesitates. Rhodes tells him to take it or leave it, he’ll give somebody else the opportunity. Ray, a little reluctantly, signs. B-

Little Guido is backstage, seen stalking the X Division Champion, Jamie Noble. He strikes in a revenge attack and leaves the champion lying on the concrete. D

Latin American Exchange v New Announce Team

An opening tag team contest bristling with quality, where the LAX had the better of the NAT for much of the affair. Their superiority turned into a win in 7:29 when Ultimo Guerrero defeated Joel Maximo by pinfall with a Reverse Superplex. C+

Tony Schiavone is backstage where he remarks he is going to conduct the greatest interview ever. His guest is Rey Mysterio Jr, who challenges Jamie Noble for the X Division Championship at Lockdown. Rey says he is going to take the belt off Noble in the cage but acknowledges that Noble is a worthy champion and it will be a tough match. This wasn’t the greatest interview ever but was alright. C+

Backstage and The Miz is in the locker room with his Tough Enough tag team partner Maven. Miz talks about Mike Sanders, saying it is his plan to take out Sanders and it is working awesomely. C

Chavo Guerrero Jr v Doug Williams

An excellent match up that would have been worthy of being a main event, such was the quality on show. The match was also helped by the two being able to put on a match that flowed like water down a chute. Although the two competitors are on opposing teams in the TNA Nations Cup, this was not a Cup match up. The two still strived to win and it was Williams who did in 9:27 by pinfall with a Chaos Theory. B

Dusty Rhodes is having a hectic night. In this segment, he addresses the controversy regarding the Tag Team Championship. He says that Abyss’ win on Explosion when he cashed in his Feast or Fired briefcase was legitimate. However, he has been left with a major problem. Due to Abyss holding the championship on his own, and he and Harley Race refusing to find Abyss a partner, the NWA have decided to withdraw the championship from TNA and strip Abyss of being a champion. Dusty Rhodes continues by saying the new TNA Tag Team Championship will be decided at Lockdown when four teams meet in the cage with the teams being the two time NWA TNA Tag Team Champions AK-47, T N A, Chuck and Kishi and Latin American Exchange. C+

Christian Cage, Al Snow, John Layfield and Goldust are laughing at Ken Shamrock, Steve Corino and ‘Cowboy’ James Storm, saying they have no hope of finding a fourth person stupid enough to enter Lethal Lockdown so they will kick their ass in a four on three Lethal Lockdown. Goldust finishes by saying if they are that desperate, they can borrow Gordon for the night, finishing the promo by licking his golden dildo suggestively up and down. C

Another really good contest that although saw Cage enjoy the advantage for much of it, still enthralled the fans. In reality, the outcome was in little doubt for virtually all of the bout so the end was of little surprise when it came in 9:43 by pinfall with an Unprettier.

Dusty Rhodes is in his office where The Amazing Red is the subject of his attention. Rhodes tells Red he is in the Xscape match to determine the number one contender to the X Division Championship following Lockdown. Red is naturally delighted. C-

TNA TV TITLE

Kishi (champion) v Jerry Lynn

A good match but overshadowed by some of the great action seen earlier in the night. Lynn used all his veteran knowledge to try and combat the huge size difference but was unsuccessful as Kishi retained the title by pinfall in 11:32. Kishi makes defence number 2 of his TNA TV title. C

Satoshi Kojima and Yoshihiro Tajiri say that following Shoichi Funaki’s loss in the first match of their TNA Nations Cup Quarter Final against Canada that they have to produce the goods when they team up in the second match of the best of three series otherwise they are out before they know it. C+

Eddie Guerrero and William Regal have a verbal joust about whether Mexico or United Kingdom have the better team for the TNA Nations Cup. Guerrero finishes the segment by saying that Mexico will “right the wrongs of the past”. Nobody seems to know what wrongs he means. C

Brock Lesnar (with Eric Bischoff) v Mick Foley

Mick Foley’s in ring debut for TNA and indeed his first match in a long time and it showed, as it was evident he was rusty. Despite this, and the hurting that Abyss put on him last week on Impact, he was resilient and it took all of Lesnar’s strength and aggressive to finally put the Hall of Immortal member away. Lesnar was finally able to do it in 14:43 by pinfall with a Tornado Face Slam, but Foley had the fans cheering his name in Brockton, Massachusetts. B

Show rating: C+

The show can be considered a success and should increase TNA’s overall popularity.

Some of the angles did not reach the standard of the action.

Attendance: 3909

Loss: $61,726
