<p>PRE SHOW</p><p>

In a bout that had solid in-ring action but not much in the way of heat, Harry Smith defeated EZ Money in 6:18 by submission with a Bulldog Bite. D+</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Impact</strong></p><p>

Saturday, week 2, September 2003</p><p>

Grissom Auditorium, Nevada.</p><p>

Live on Spike TV.</p><p> </p><p>

CM Punk is in the ring to start Impact. He calls out both Jeff Jarrett and Chris Candido.</p><p>

<span>http://t3.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcTvjGB3RgJYFOORtUrrOOVAiE215CEZmNwwRXf9a82y5TI8fqo&t=1&usg=__IFc33n-cTLmXJG6LOwb1YzDu1Ks=</span></p><p>

Candido comes out first, irate at Punk for costing him a chance at the NWA TNA World Heavyweight Championship. He berates and insults Punk, who simply stands in the corner taking it. When Candido finishes his rant, Punk replies by asking what he has taken to be so irate.</p><p>

Jeff Jarrett then comes out, unhappy that he has been called out by CM Punk. CM Punk tells TNA's founder to shut up and listen! Jarrett is dumbfounded, so Punk carries on. He says he has found out that not one, not two but three wrestlers failed drug tests after No Surrender. He asks Jarrett what action has been taken against the three wrestlers. Jarrett says they have been severely reprimanded... besides, what business of it is Punk's?</p><p>

Punk says that wrestling needs to clean itself up. There have been far too many drug scandals in wrestling, even drug related deaths and he's not going to stand by idle while wrestling self implodes. He goes into specifics... he says that Chris Candido was one of the wrestlers who failed a drugs test at No Surrender... and it's not the first time he has failed. He asks Jarrett what he is going to do about Candido? Candido is going nuts in the corner before Punk tells him to "shut the hell up or he'll embarrass him". Jarrett hasn't responded so Punk warns him that if he isn't going to start to act, then he will. Punk will start to name and shame everybody in TNA who is a drug user and he knows Jarrett doesn't want him to do that... as there would end up being no TNA.</p><p>

Jarrett gives in. Punk has backed him into a corner and so he fires Chris Candido in the middle of the ring! Candido is distraught but then strangely, he thanks CM Punk for allowing him to see the error of his ways and he promises to clean himself up. Punk responds by offering to help Candido if he wants it and the two part on good terms. Jarrett however is getting in Punk's face, asking if he's happy and closing that Punk is now his enemy number one and as such, come Bound for Glory II, he will eliminate Punk from TNA. Punk smiles broadly and he leaves the ring to a tremendous reception from the crowd. <strong>C</strong></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Latin American Exchange (Hernandez & Konnan, with Jorge Estrada) v Jody Fleisch & Paul London</strong></p><p>

An acceptable opening match which saw LAX mostly dominate their opponents who simply never got much momentum going. The comfortable win came in 5:45 when Hernandez defeated Jody Fleisch by pinfall with a Dominator. <strong>D+</strong></p><p> </p><p>

Alex Wright is backstage telling everybody how proud he is of his German background and his sexuality, when Rick Steiner comes by and takes him out, saying the TNA has no place for people like him. <strong>D+</strong></p><p> </p><p>

A video plays hyping the history between America's Most Wanted vs. Spanish Announce Team vs Backstreet Boyz and previews their three way for the title at Bound for Glory II. <strong>D</strong></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>TV TITLE TOURNAMENT FIRST ROUND</strong></p><p><strong>

'Alpha Male' Monty Brown v Mike Quackenbush</strong></p><p>

Neither men have been in the ring too much of late in TNA, but you wouldn't have noticed as the two put on a decent enough match. Brown's strength overcame Quackenbush's savvy in 7:52 by pinfall with The Pounce. <strong>C-</strong></p><p> </p><p>

Ernest Miller is interviewed backstage by Travis Morton, where he talks about his elation of finally getting the better of Steve Corino at No Surrender. <strong>C-</strong></p><p> </p><p>

Mike Sanders, in the ring, challenges Ken Shamrock for a match at Bound for Glory II. Has Sanders lost his mind? Shamrock steps onto the entrance ramp, and declares the challenge accepted, saying that Sanders will go the same way as Judas Mesias. <strong>C-</strong></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>American Dragon v Little Guido</strong></p><p>

A very solid match which saw spells of great action and a very interested crowd. The match was a credit to both competitors and it was American Dragon who took it in 9:36 by submission with an Arms Across America. Dragon was strong here. <strong>C+</strong></p><p>

Having picked up the victory, American Dragon celebrates in the ring. <strong>C-</strong></p><p> </p><p>

Backstage, Devon Storm is in a mad rage, destroying anything inaminate in his path with a crowbar. Security stop him. <strong>C-</strong></p><p> </p><p>

Joel Gertner interviews LAX where Jorge Estrada and Konnan are outspoken about their lack of opportunities recently in TNA. <strong>D</strong></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>TV TITLE TOURNAMENT FIRST ROUND</strong></p><p><strong>

Alex Wright v Desmond Wolfe</strong></p><p>

Desmond Wolfe defeated Alex Wright in 9:46 after an even contest by pinfall with a Guvnor's Crumpet. Wolfe is on track to be TNA's first double champion. <strong>C-</strong></p><p> </p><p>

In the ring, Shane Douglas conducts a poetry reading, rhyming (or closely doing so) all sorts of insults with Rick Steiner's name. Steiner the weiner is Douglas' favourite. <strong>C-</strong></p><p> </p><p>

Travis Morton congratulates Desmond Wolfe backstage and Wolfe speaks about his quest to become a double champion in TNA. Monty Brown walks by and reminds Wolfe that to win the TV Title, somebody is going to have to beat the 'Alpha Male'. <strong>D</strong></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>CM Punk & Sid Vicious v Shane Douglas & Steve Corino</strong></p><p>

A good main event where all four men fought with desire and intensity. Punk's new found fan favouritism gave him belief and resilience as he refused to be beaten by Douglas and Corino's double teams and short cuts. A hot tag to Sid saw him clean house before the match finished in 19:53 when CM Punk defeated Shane Douglas by pinfall with a Pepsi Plunge. <strong>C+</strong></p><p>

Sid Vicious is celebrating the victory in the ring while Punk is celebrating in the crowd. Steve Corino runs in and attacks with a steel chair, beating Sid down into the mat and barely conscious. <strong>C</strong></p><p>

Harley Race and Eric Bischoff come down to ringside and argue over Sid Vicious. Race says he should be granted a title match, Bischoff tells Race "over my dead body". <strong>C+</strong></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Show rating: C</strong></p><p>

Some of the angles did not reach the standard of the matches.</p><p>

The show can be considered a success and should increase TNA's popularity.</p><p>

Attendance: 2000 (sellout)</p><p>

TV rating: 0.59</p><p>

Loss: $47,986</p>

judging by the fan's reaction, they think there is no place for a people like Steiner here. They seem fine with men like Alex and Buff.

saw where the Quack Attack won the PWG title - maybe you should go after their former champ. Evan Karagias would be a nice addition and could set up a good feud with the Happy Homos (and maybe end up falling under their dominion)

Impact preview

CM Punk coerced Jeff Jarrett into firing Chris Candido live on Impact last week and an enraged Jarrett said he would end CM Punk at Bound for Glory II. Jarrett can't wait that long, surely?

Eric Bischoff is on hand to tell Sid Vicious who he will face at the big event.

Plus there will be two more first round matches in the TV Title Tournament.

Tune into Spike TV to see the live action on Saturday night.

PRE SHOW

In a match that had some good action but not much in the way of heat, Paul London defeated Austin Aries in 7:20 by pinfall with a London Calling. There was a lack of psychology on display. C-

Impact

Saturday, week 3, September 2003

Arena at Trump Taj Mahal, Atlantic City, NJ.

Live on Spike TV.

Eric Bischoff is backstage and expresses his disappointment that Vader and Vampiro were not able to take out Sid Vicious. However, he was delighted last week when Steve Corino took down Sid with a steel chair. He sees Corino as providing the answer to his problem and so books Steve Corino versus Sid Vicious for Bound for Glory II. B-

Spanish Announce Team attack Johnny Kashmere and Trent Acid backstage, and leave them down and out. Kashmere in particular is left in a bad way. C+

Harry Smith v Steve Corino

A solid enough opener and while Smith put up a great fight, Corino has too much class and experience... at this stage of Smith's career. This led to a Corino victory in 6:59 by pinfall with an Old School Expulsion. C-

http://t1.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcRvcIjPOQEhNH3ckApQLhGh2hqF6CIMSGR7r8taM0yd57Im5to&t=1&usg=__uksrkhVDWL-88VPM2gvLAxYoolk=

After the match, Harry Smith is in the ring when Dusty Rhodes strides out! Rhodes says he has been watching Smith over recent weeks and is impressed with his heart, desire and says that he has bags of potential. He asks Smith if he wants him to guide him through the early stages of his career. Smith doesn't need asking twice as he says he will be honoured to. D

Roger Bagwell is backstage with Alex Wright and Buff 'The Puff' Bagwell. Alex says about his feelings for Roger and Roger responds by saying he loves his husband Buff. He tells Alex that he and Buff are happy for Alex to participate in threesomes, but it will never develop on an emotional level. Alex is upset so Buff tells Alex to take his time for it to settle in and think about what he wants to do. D-

TV Title Tournament First Round

Super Crazy (with Midajah) v Vampiro

Another solid match, although Crazy must be disappointed with his career in TNA too date as it has never really got going in terms of his win loss record. He lost this one too in 8:13 by pinfall with a Nail in the Coffin. During the match, it was announced by Mike Tenay that Trent Acid will face Jose Maximo later on tonight. C-

Shane Douglas pulls up in his car at the arena car park. Rick Steiner appears and literally drags Douglas from his car and starts beating him up, before throwing him into his driver door and slamming him on the hood/bonnet... depending if you're American or English! C-

American Dragon is interviewed backstage by Joel Gertner, he talks about his disappointment in the lack of depth of talent in TNA. A few of the crowd boo. C-

TV Title Tournament First Round

Devon Storm v Vader

Vader was physically dominant in a match he was expected to win, but in probably TNA's biggest ever upset, he was embarrassed in 9:36 by pinfall with a fast roll up. Devon Storm ran up the ramp as Vader went mad in the ring. D+

CM Punk and Jeff Jarrett meet backstage, Jarrett rants about how Punk backed him into a corner and made him fire a perfectly able worker in Chris Candido. He raves about how he will take Punk apart at Bound for Glory II. Punk just smiles at him, saying he will like to see him try and that Jarrett knows inside that Punk is right about drug taking and TNA's poor policy on it. C+

Doug Williams is in the locker room with Desmond Wolfe. He says he hasn't had chance to celebrate Wolfe's X Division Championship win with him, so the two sit down for a celebratory cup of tea. C

Ken Shamrock & Rick Steiner v Mike Sanders & Shane Douglas

A tense tag match between rivals who will face off at Bound for Glory. The intensity rose when Shamrock and Sanders were in the ring together and even more when Steiner and Douglas were, the latter was showing small side effects from the earlier Rick Steiner attack. The contest concluded in 18:43 when Ken Shamrock defeated Mike Sanders by submission with an Ankle Lock and he and Steiner celebrated a hard fought win. C+

Harley Race calls Ernest Miller into his office. He says he was impressed with Miller's victory over Steve Corino back at No Surrender. He goes on to say he wants to test Miller with a younger, hungrier opponent at Bound for Glory II, and tells him his opponent there will be Mr Anderson. C

Mr Wrestling IV is interviewed backstage by Travis Morton, he hypes himself up to the fans. Disappointing segment. D

Jose Maximo v Trent Acid

A good main event despite a lack of psychology. It was helped by a hot crowd and spells of fantastic action. Jose had the better of the opening exchanges courtesy of the attack at the beginning of the show but Trent mounted a strong comeback and looked the more likely to win. That was until Joel Maximo arrived at ringside and became the difference maker, leading to Jose Maximo winning the match in 14:39 by pinfall with a Maximo Explosion following interference from Joel Maximo. The Maximos celebrate over the defeated champion as Impact goes off air. C+

Show rating: C

Some of the angles did not reach the standard of the matches. The show can be considered a success and should increase TNA's popularity.

Attendance: 3643

TV rating: 0.63

Loss: $56,707

News

Vader has left TNA after refusing to negotiate a new contract.

Little Guido has changed his style of wrestling to that of a Japanese junior.

Francine has signed with TNA for a further year.

how big a loss is Vader's leaving?

he hasn't done much in a while, and could have carried a steep price tag. Sure someone will fill the gap.

laughing at Little Guido. trying to think out how the style change would impact his name......guess now instead of FBI being full-blooded Italians, he can form a new team of ???

(NSA was only thing coming to mind so far.....Nipponese Secret Army? work on it, and u could have something fun for the mid-card. remember that the FBI included guys like Tommy Rich and Tracy Smothers so the precedent is set to give you as much lee-way as you want to take it. Of course you can always team him up with some other Japanese Jr's and maybe add a SUMO type enforcer to the team)
