PRE SHOW

In a bout that had solid in-ring action and average heat, Vampiro defeated Robert Roode in 6:46 by pinfall with a Nail in the Coffin. C-

Impact

Saturday, week 3, November 2003

Athletics-Recreation Center, Valaparaiso, IN.

Live on Spike TV.

Eric Bischoff is in the ring promotion his vision of TNA and championing his soldiers - Shane Douglas, Ernest Miller and Jose Maximo. Sid Vicious comes marching to the ring with a look of intent on his face. He is intending to hurt Bischoff. Before he can climb in the ring though, he is blindsided. It's not Miller or Douglas. It's not even Maximo... it's Abyss. Abyss pummels Sid at ringside and throws him first into the guard rail and then into the steel steps. Rick Steiner comes racing down so Abyss retreats up the ramp with Eric Bischoff... who reaches into his pocket and hands Abyss a fistful of cash. C-

Paul London hypes himself backstage as the hottest free property in TNA and wants managers to take note. E+

'Alpha Male' Monty Brown v Mike Sanders

A high quality opening match which kept the crowd entertaining and leaves them wanting more. Brown probably had the edge over Sanders and this reflected in the result as he took the match in 6:25 by pinfall with The Pounce. C

CM Punk comes to the ring. He doesn't know which is worse... having a known drug abuser as the World Champion or having the man who hired him as the champion. He remarks that if this is what professional wrestling is coming to, a throwback to the bad, dark days, then it is in a very sorry state. B-

Mr Wrestling IV is cutting a promo on his Turning Point match against Abyss when American Dragon comes out of nowhere and attacks. He slaps on Arms Across American and IV is tapping. Dragon relinquishes the hold and leaves IV on the floor. D+

Backstreet Boyz (Tag Team champions) & America's Most Wanted v Full Blooded Italians & Happy Homos (with Roger Bagwell)

Another quality match. Last week and the matches so far this week are very encouraging. Particularly impressed was Roger Bagwell's work at ringside and the ultra sick sometimes gay teamword of Happy Homos. Despite this, it was still the team with the longest hair, alledgedly measure at longer than the Big Show is tall (Kashmere has grown his to fit in), that took the match in 9:15 when 'Wildcat' Chris Harris defeated Alex Wright by pinfall with a Catatonic. C

Desmond Wolfe cuts an interview about his title defence against Christopher Daniels. He says he is aware of his credentials and reputation from Daniels' time wrestling in Japan and knows he is in for a hard match. However, Wolfe is confident he has the tools to get the job done and keep his title. C

Eric Bischoff is in his office and has summoned Happy Homos to see him. He tells them he is impressed with their work as a team and as a reward he tells them they can name a stipulation for their Tag Team Championship challenge tomorrow night at Turning Point. Alex and Buff confer before Buff tells Eric they want a Paddle on a Pole match. C-

Abyss & American Dragon v Doug Williams & Mr Wrestling IV

Another good match, the fans are certainly getting their money's worth tonight. IV was suffering from the earlier attack by American Dragon and Abyss and Dragon capitalise on this by taking the contest in 10:19 when Abyss defeated Mr Wrestling IV by pinfall with The Black Hole. C

Jeff Jarrett then comes to the ring. He tells Ultimate Warrior to man up and come to the ring and face him like a man. No trickery, no lights going out...

Then the lights go out.

HE'S HERE

Ultimate Warrior's symbol appears on the big screen. It is then replaced by Warrior himself who is backstage. He bellows "I'm here and Jarrett's time is up tomorrow" before walking off into the darkness.

The arena lights then go off again. When they come back on, Jarrett isn't in the ring and is nowhere to be found. Nobody is at ringside at all apart from the announce team and ring announcer. B-

Ken Shamrock speaks from backstage. He says how he is getting tired of Eric's Army running amok and playing by their own rules. He says he will take down Shane Douglas tomorrow night. C

Christopher Daniels v CM Punk

The bar has been raised higher. A quality match where the two traded both technical holds and fast paced action. Daniels proved his experience in Japan will serve him well in TNA while Punk proved what a top star he already is. However, the match wasn't decided by the two guys in the ring as in 11:59 CM Punk was disqualified by Robert Brisko when Desmond Wolfe ran in and attacked Christopher Daniels. Punk was livid as Wolfe and Daniels brawled to the back. C+

Mr Anderson speaks from the locker room. He says that contrary to everybody else's opinion that Monty Brown was impressive against Mike Sanders tonight, he was not and that Monty does not have the skill or class to defeat Mrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr Anderssoooooooooooooonnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn. C+

http://t2.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcSkjMbl6XFRWUAJqssaG5isR9jq-bTbQmiPXsRp5p41WwMrVs3t

TNA TV TITLE

Jose Maximo (champion) v Rick Steiner

Very disappointing as the worst match of the night turned out to be the main event of the show. It wasn't helped by Steiner tiring towards the end. Despite this, he had Maximo where he wanted him - primed for defeat only for Ernest Miller to sneak in and hit him with a stiff kick. This allowed Maximo to take full advantage in 13:32 by pinfall with a Maximo Explosion. Jose Maximo makes defence number 1 of his TNA TV title. D+

To close the show, Mike Tenay, Don West and Potter run through the Turning Point card and spend some time recapping what has been going on between Jeff Jarrett and Ultimate Warrior. Only Don West thinks Jarrett will survive this one. C+

Show rating: C-

The show can be considered a success and should increase TNA’s popularity.

Attendance: 3100

TV rating: 0.84

Loss: $54,586

Just gonna note, nice idea with the World Cup. I really want the prediction prize, and I know USA is gonna take it, but I love the FBI (myself being Italian) way too much not to pick them.

Still, this PPV is the most exciting for me thus far.

PRE SHOW

In a match that had some good action but not much in the way of heat, Devon Storm defeated Mike Quackenbush in 8:43 by pinfall with a Mind Bender. The two showed great chemistry. C

http://t2.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcRJ3TQNhzbfjpyOyfQWBO1578fmqx--rImMRGE4iW_gPdst8L8&t=1&usg=__2PaYl4aidvhXFy5VXFwwGPBI8PI=

Sunday, week 3, November 2003

Asheville Civic Center, Asheville, NC

A limousine pulls up at the arena entrance. The driver opens the door and out steps Jose Maximo wearing a suit and an ice cold stare. He means business tonight. C+

TNA WORLD CUP

USA (America's Most Wanted - Harris & Storm) v Italy (Full Blooded Italians) v Puerto Rico (Latin American Exchange - Hernandez & Estrada) v Iraq (Middle Eastern Nightmare)

Little Guido was the stand out performer in a solid opening match that was full of action and twists which did at times make it difficult to follow. The end came in 9:59 when Guido pinned Abbadon, winning the first TNA World Cup for Italy. After the match, he and Tony Mamaluke a presented a trophy saying TNA World Cup winners. D+

Air Paris v Paul London

The second match was high on entertainment and pace but low on technical wrestling. Still, this made it of a good quality. London will have done himself the world of good as he seeks a manager as he chalks up a good victory in 11:03 by pinfall with a London Calling. C

Backstage and Abyss is walking backstage, threaten and abusing staff who cower as he walks by. C-

'Alpha Male' Monty Brown v Mr Anderson

A disappointing match that wouldn't have been worth showing on Impact never mind a pay per view. Anderson takes it in 8:39 by pinfall with a handful of tights but it has done neither wrestler any favours with TNA management. D

Abyss v Mr Wrestling IV

Thankfully the quality picked back up straight away as the Monster took on the masked star and put on a show despite two completely contrasting styles. IV gave it his all, so much so he was visibly getting tired towards the end of the match. Abyss proved too big and powerful for him as the Monster prevailed in 11:23 by pinfall with The Black Hole. C+

The camera is in the locker room where Sid is warming up with his eyes bulging, his face bright red and he is hissing a lot. B-

American Dragon v Doug Williams

This wasn't as good as it could have been as Williams was off his game and as such the match didn't flow as good as it should. It was still miles better than Brown v Anderson though. Dragon took full advantage of Williams' poor show by beating him in 12:36 by submission with an Arms Across America. C-

Ken Shamrock talks about how he will take apart Shane Douglas tonight as TNA begin to disarm Eric's Army. C-

http://t3.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcQi28RvAkCwAUIq8ewZKtmYJT-sMxmlrHy1JnfItBJ1AyAMsOBWqw

TNA X DIVISION CHAMPIONSHIP

Desmond Wolfe (champion) v Christopher Daniels

This match was everything that was expected. A good mix of fast action and technical wrestling and one where both wrestlers fought hard for the belt with the crowd being kept enthralled throughout. Daniels has been impressive in his short time in TNA but his first attempt at winning a championship here came up short as Wolfe retained in 14:28 by pinfall with a Tower of London. Desmond Wolfe makes defence number 6 of his TNA X Division title. C

Eric Bischoff talks about his Army of Jose Maximo, Shane Douglas and Ernest Miller. He says they are a unit, a strong and united unit who are willing to fight for his causes. He warns Ken Shamrock, Sid Vicious and Rick Steiner they are in for a bad night. C+

Ernest Miller v Rick Steiner

The first match featuring one of Eric's soldiers was a little disappointing. The action was a trifle tepid and lacked real excitement. Miller took advantage of a tiring Steiner to take the bout in 11:03 by pinfall with a Thrust Kick. D+

American Dragon is backstage when a teenage fan approaches him asking for an autograph and a photograph. Dragon is rude to the fan and flips him off. C

http://t1.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcQwKG1IheNnDd6a7vejfh1O_dzzDsq5yvDZjp_hsGK7BrUcV-veJg

NWA TNA TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP

PADDLE ON A POLE MATCH

Backstreet Boyz (champions) v Happy Homos (with Roger Bagwell)

Another good match which had plenty of comedy gay moments. On a more serious note, Wright and Bagwell are beginning to really gel as a team and their offence is becoming very slick. This increased chemistry greatly troubled the champions. The paddle came into play when Buff Bagwell retrieved it but instead of using it on his opponents, he bent Alex Wright over his knee and spanked him with it instead. This threw the champions off a little and shortly afterwards Bagwell used it as a weapon by hitting Trent Acid in the face with it. Homos took a deserved victory to end Backstreet Boyz's impressive Tag Team Championship reign in 12:53 when Buff Bagwell defeated Johnny Kashmere by pinfall with a Homo Delight. Happy Homos win the NWA TNA World Tag Team titles. C

Ultimate Warrior cuts a promo on his match with Jeff Jarrett where he roars and shouts a lot, beats his chest and tells Jarrett he will take his title. C+

Jose Maximo v Sid Vicious

Many expected Sid to man handle Sid but it never happened. Maximo fought a tenacious match, evading many of Sid's power attacks and letting the big man wear himself out. As the big man tired, Maximo tried to put him away but he couldn't. Frustrated, he started taking out his anger on Rudy Charles which allowed Eric Bischoff to sneak in from seemingly nowhere and smash a steel chair over the back of Sid's head. Sid dropped like a ton of bricks, barely moving. Jose made the most of it and pulled off the shock victory in 12:59 by pinfall with a Maximo Explosion following interference from Eric Bischoff. Very good match. B-

Jeff Jarrett cuts a promo where he states that he will finally have Warrior face to face and he will see how Warrior can handle it like a man. C+

Ken Shamrock v Shane Douglas

Douglas was disappointing and Shamrock had control of long periods of the match and looked the very likely winner. That was until Eric's Army, in it's entireity, intervened. Bischoff took care of Rudy Charles while Miller and Maximo launched a brutal assault that when Douglas joined in was a three on one beatdown. Shamrock was never going to come back from that and a Douglas win was academic in 12:49 by pinfall with a Franchiser. C-

Tenay, Don West and Potter run through the tale of the tape between Jeff Jarrett and Ultimate Warrior. C+

http://t1.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcQsCHSUEEaLUwteAuJvoeawCK7e29mOWY3tF_woa1s4ks-bhqN6Yg

NWA TNA WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP

Jeff Jarrett (champion) v Ultimate Warrior

Argh, a let down. Things weren't helped by Warrior still carrying his ring rust and tiring towards the end. Warrior was strong from the opening bell as Jarrett struggled to get any offence at all, flying in the face of his belief that Warrior hid behind the arena lights and only took Jarrett by the element of surprise. As the match wore on though, things turned in Jarrett's favour with his stronger conditioning and higher stamina. It looked like he was going to defeat Warrior when in 18:06 the match descended into chaos after CM Punk got involved. He came down to the ring and hit Go To Sleep first on Jarrett and then, to a mixture of boos and cheers, to Warrior. Mickey Jay threw the match out as Punk got a mic and told everybody he's not going to stand by idle and allow TNA to be represented by either a drug abuser or somebody who allows it to happen. He is going to fight for change in TNA and he will fight until he gets it. D+

nice profit, and nice card

Sid looks to have worked off his ring rust, but Warrior has a ways to go. Maybe these two can be built into a good program - Sid vs Warrior (after he polishes off some rust) could be a great headline match for the #1 contender.

new tag champs!!! Glad to see Buff and Alex get the belts after all their hard work. Not sure what's going to happen to Roger since his presence seems to be a DRAG on the "queen" team (pun intended)

Thanks Olympia.

Warrior put on a good match on Explosion against Kazarian so there is something there. Have to see what happens, he's freelancing so will only sign short term deals so making long term plans will be difficult with him. It was a pleasant surprise when he produced a clean drugs test though!

As for Roger Bagwell, now I've switched him to managing Alex Wright rather than Buff Bagwell, the chemistry penalty as manager no longer applies.

PREDICTION COMPETITION

Jay R - 5

Michigan Hero - 7

BHK - 5

Kijar - 7

There is a tie. Rather than have a tie break on Impact, I've instead decided to allow both Michigan Hero and Kijar to pick three wrestlers each for the Feast or Fired match at Christmas Feast. I shall pick the remaining four. Current champions (Jeff Jarrett, Desmond Wolfe and Happy Homos) cannot be picked although the TV champion, Jose Maximo can as that belt is not defended on pay per views.

Well it sucks to see Mr. Anderson go, but I do like that you stick to your guns and actually give them three strikes. Makes your diary seem more real to me.

I have to say I did not see the Jose Maximo victory coming.

Glad to see the Happy Homos win.

Thank you FBI. I had a feeling I'd win, so I had Guido, Paul London, and American Dragon.
