olympia
too bad the group where Buff the Puff Bagwell has 12 title defenses is all the way over in Australia. Otherwise, you might be able to capitalize on his popularity doing a card there with him in main event. Doubt it makes sense to travel there when so much to be done at home. using that same thought process though, saw Wildcat Chris Harris with a lengthy title run in one area - could feature him at a show there. And several of your lower ranked guys look to be over somewhat in the California (SW) promotions. Wonder if they could carry a low cost show in those areas? Once you find a way to start turning profitable months, I'll breathe easier for you buddy,
Nobby_McDonald
More news TNA turned in it's best financial result with the exception of the Carter investment by announcing a loss of $88,290 in October. Nobby_McDonald
Impact Preview Sid is already finding life hectic as NWA TNA World Champion. Last week Bischoff made him face Ernest Miller. Coming up on Explosion he faces the Jeff Jarrett rematch and at Genesis he and Ken Shamrock have verbally agreed to have a title match. Before that though Bischoff is making Sid defend the title again on Impact against Shane Douglas. Homicide surprised everybody at Christmas Feast by returning in the Feast or Fired match. Last week he reunited with his old buddy Hernandez and this week LAX make their in ring return. Meanwhile Jeff Jarrett still thinks in his mind he is the World Champion and he has gone on record on the TNA website he will prove that by facing a series of worldwide challengers starting with the Australian Champion this week on Impact. Catch this and lots more on Saturday night on Spike TV. Nobby_McDonald
PRE SHOW In a bout that had solid in-ring action but not much in the way of heat, Mr Wrestling IV defeated EZ Money in 6:24 by pinfall with a Sudan Elbow Drop. C- Impact Saturday, week 1, January 2004 Orleans Arena, Las Vegas, NV. Live on Spike TV CM Punk walks to the ring to start Impact and is given a microphone. First he talks about the monster Abyss. He has a feeling that Abyss is not acting off his own back, that he is being instructed to act on somebody else's behalf because why else would he take have issue with CM Punk? At Christmas Feast they ended up just brawling but Punk is happy with that, he's happy to brawl... so he says let's make Genesis a Falls Count Anywhere match and decide who is the better brawler. Then he addresses Jeff Jarrett. He tells him that sometime ago he promised he was going to clean up TNA of all the washed up drug takers of yesteryear's wrestling. This will be a new era of wrestling, one of clean, pure and hungry wrestlers that care not for politics and where their next fix will come from. Punk promises change and it is going to happen much sooner than Jarrett thinks. C Devon Storm & Keiji Sakoda v Latin American Exchange Sakoda makes his TNA debut partnering Storm, a duo who has seen success in other companies. Sakoda found his debut hard going against a reunited LAX as Homicide showed desire he's not shown before which compensated for a less than stellar performance from his partner Hernandez. Homicide chalked up his first win since returning in 7:50 when he defeated Keiji Sakoda by pinfall with a Cop Killa. C- Frankie Kazarian and Rocky Romero have attacked Johnny Kashmere backstage. As they stand over the fallen Backstreet Boy, they both make an X sign. Double X? D+ Eric Bischoff is in his office with American Dragon. He tells Dragon he has every confidence he will destroy Mr Wrestling IV and reveal to the world his identity, so he has no qualms in making the match on Explosion a Mask versus Mask match. C+ Jeff Jarrett v The Australian Champion Jeff Jarrett gets the microphone before the match and says that everybody in TNA and who watches TNA knows that he is still the real world champion and to prove that fact he will face a number of champions from around the world. His first opponent is The Australian Champion... http://t2.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcRiZsf6__NRVoQqmihQpE6rCyO4KHyuBvTii-wvdNtP6ZdWg5ygog NATHAN JONES Despite Jones' obvious strength and size advantage, Jarrett goes on to dominate the majority of the match and takes it in 4:54 by submission with a Figure Four Leg Lock and celebrates as if he has won the World Championship. D+ Roger and Buff 'The Puff' Bagwell are backstage in a locker room decorated almost entirely in pink. Buff has some tight pink shorts on and is holding the pink paddle while Roger is clad in his usual leather biker style outfit. Roger speaks, saying the Happy Homos aren't so happy right now as they have learned they have to defend the Tag Team Championship at Explosion against Ken Shamrock and Ultimate Warrior. But... brains always beat brawn... C Rick Steiner speaks from the back, telling Eric Bischoff and his Army that he is not sweating over Genesis as he knows of plenty of guys in the back that would love to kick Bischoff and his Army's ass. C- http://t2.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcSkjMbl6XFRWUAJqssaG5isR9jq-bTbQmiPXsRp5p41WwMrVs3t TNA TV TITLE Jose Maximo (with So Cal Val) v Trent Acid A sound match which saw Jose face a Backstreet Boy for the second straight week, rekindling their short rivalry in the tag team match prior to Joel Maximo's departure. Maximo again defended his title as he just had the edge over Acid, claiming victory in 14:27 by pinfall with a Maximo Explosion. Jose Maximo makes defence number 7 of his TNA TV title. C- Backstage and Eric Bischoff grants Ken Shamrock's request for a title match against Sid Vicious on the grounds that Bischoff would just slightly prefer to have Shamrock as champion than Sid... however... Bischoff added that he will insert a third man into the match to make it a three way... but he's not ready to say who just yet. B- Mike Tenay, Don West and Potter hype the four way X Division Championship match on Explosion this coming Wednesday, remarking that this will be Desmond Wolfe's toughest defence to date. C+ 'Alpha Male' Monty Brown v American Dragon An intriguing match that ebbed and flowed between Brown's power game and Dragon's technical ability. With the crowd firmly behind Brown, it was Dragon who came out with the duke in 12:10 by submission with an Arms Across America. C- http://t2.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcTqoC8JO2yzRhunHatFkE32ISIM68WsvezRg0fghwosyKRdUYA8 HE'S HERE The lights come back on and Ultimate Warrior is standing in front of American Dragon who has the fright of his life and quickly escapes the ring and ringside area. C- Eric Bischoff is backstage with his Army. They laugh at Rick Steiner telling him that he is deluded if he thinks he can overcome this unit no matter who he picks as his partner. It's Operation Steiner and Steiner will be run out of their territory or destroyed. C http://t1.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcQsCHSUEEaLUwteAuJvoeawCK7e29mOWY3tF_woa1s4ks-bhqN6Yg NWA TNA WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP Sid Vicious v Shane Douglas Two veterans put on a match that had more crowd heat than quality in the bout. Douglas tried all the dirty tricks in his arsenal only for Sid to power his way through. Sid was tiring but got the upperhand and had Douglas in position for a Power Bomb only for the rest of Eric's Army to run in and attack Sid, resulting in 14:50 when Shane Douglas was disqualified due to outside interference. Sid Vicious makes defence number 2 of his NWA TNA World Heavyweight title. C- Show rating: C- The show can be considered a success and should increase TNA’s popularity. Nobby_McDonald
I have a question... if I were to run a small weekly show (similar to Rising Stars in my TEW08 diary) in addition to Impact, Explosion and pay per views, will it have a significant effect on TNA's popularity? It will be like a weekly house show, but not a house show in name as I have no wrestlers on a written contract apart from Potter (part time wrestler) and Jarrett. I think it depends on what you make it. If it is a B show it will not change TNA popularity but I think it will change the workers on the show popularity. If you make it a regular show and it is not up to par with the other shows I think it will have somewhat of a significant impact. That being said I am no expert so do not take my word on it. Nobby_McDonald
PRE SHOW In a match that had some good action but not much in the way of heat, Ultimo Guerrero defeated Robert Roode in 7:21 by pinfall with a Reverse Superplex. The two displayed great chemistry. C- Explosion Wednesday, week 2, January 2004 Manley Basketball Arena, Syracuse, NY. Live on UrbanXtra pay per view Ken Shamrock starts Explosion in the ring. He says that he knows he has business to attend to tonight but he has bigger business at Genesis. He calls out Sid Vicious. Sid comes to the ring and the two stand toe to toe. There is a great feeling of both respect and intensity as the two stare each other out, neither man flinching or giving to the other. Shamrock tells Sid that regardless of who Eric Bischoff puts in as the third man, he knows the two of them will have a great battle and he is looking forward to it. Sid tells Ken he can't wait and leaves the ring. C Caprice Coleman v Kid Kash Despite a lack of psychology on show, this match provided a very pleasant surprise. Two TNA debutants facing off in the opening match of Explosion yet they produced some great action and some great heat from the crowd, giving an early indication that both men will be worthy additions to the TNA roster and some of the more established guys had better look over their shoulders. Kash took the win in 6:49 by pinfall with a Money Maker but Coleman emerges from the match with a great deal of credit also. C Rick Steiner speaks from the locker rooms. He tells the fans that he has made some phonecalls and he is very happy with whom he has managed to get as his partner for Genesis and that Eric Bischoff will not believe his eyes when he sees who it is. C- A short video is shown to promote the imminent arrival of The Amazing Red in TNA. C America's Most Wanted v Full Blooded Italians This had a lot to live up to given the quality of the opening contest and it fell just short of that. That doesn't mean it wasn't entertaining, not at all, it was a perfectly watchable tag team contest between two of the four teams who will meet at Genesis with the prize being a Tag Team Championship match. Due to this, this was an intense match and it was AMW who walked away with the victory in 8:50 when 'Wildcat' Chris Harris defeated Tony Mamaluke by pinfall with a Death Sentence. C- CM Punk is backstage walking along a corridor when Abyss appears out of nowhere and blindsides him. Fortunately for Punk it is only a glancing blow but the monster stalks Punk with a look of evil intent before a bevvy of security appears to hold back Abyss. Punk is surprised and a little shocked. C Backstreet Boyz & Doug Williams v Latin American Exchange Again there was a lack of psychology on display and add it to a substandard performance from Jorge Estrada and Johnny Kashmere and what do you get..? Another really good match! It was full of action, double and triple teams and partners running in on the match. Despite the momentum from Homicide's recent return, Estrada's poor performance was enough to tip the match to their opponent and the conclusion came in 12:38 when Trent Acid defeated Jorge Estrada by pinfall with a Yakuza Kick. C+ Jeff Jarrett speaks from backstage, saying that he is the real World Champion, he proved that by beat the Australian Champion on Impact and he will retake his belt from Sid Vicious tonight. C+ MASK versus MASK American Dragon v Mr Wrestling IV Another match of considerable quality but this for an entirely different reason. This was one of the best technical wrestling displays in TNA's history. Dragon was getting the upper hand but getting increasingly frustrated at IV's kicking out of pins and refusing to submit or tap to submissions. Dragon brought a chair into play and at first Mickey Jay prevented him from using it. After more frustration though, Dragon grabbed the chair again and floor IV with a stiff head shot. Jay immediately called for the bell but with IV barely even moving on the mat, Dragon left the ring and refused to remove his mask. C+ Following the match, Ultimate Warrior spoke from backstage, promising American Dragon that he hasn't forgotten that he stole the case at Feast or Fired and he is going to extract his revenge at Genesis and tells Dragon that if he has the balls, he will do the right thing and put his World Championship briefcase up at Genesis. E+ http://t3.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcRDBMSQ0_iTO7VvB3vnNp1PvZHbryqaECz942G_joAC98-E16CZHA TNA X DIVISION CHAMPIONSHIP Desmond Wolfe (champion) v Christopher Daniels v Devon Storm v Vampiro This match continued the high standard of the evening with a fast paced match that thanks mainly to Wolfe also had it's share of quality technical wrestling. All four men had moments and chances to win but Wolfe became a victim of the rules that don't favour the champion where he doesn't have to lose the fall to lose the belt as in 14:24 Christopher Daniels defeated Vampiro by pinfall with a Last Rites. Christopher Daniels wins the TNA X Division title. Wolfe was a mixture of unhappy and livid after the bell as Daniels celebrated with the title. C Eric Bischoff is his office with his Army of Shane Douglas, Jose Maximo and Ernest Miller. He tells his troops that this is Operation Steiner, to take Steiner out and that no matter who Steiner gets as his partner, they have both the numerical and the wrestling advantage and tells them they have to get the job done. C- http://t3.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcSS9x6o5E2HI2l1LroZ43KhcFZ9Y_YCIsWnkiWN8iF7KtdkgzSM NWA TNA TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP Happy Homos (champions, with Roger Bagwell) v Ken Shamrock & Ultimate Warrior Quite possibly the most unlikely challengers it came as a surprise that they managed to team up well together considering they both have combustable personalities. They also proved to be a big problem for the champions. With their titles under serious threat, Buff got the pink paddle from Roger Bagwell and with the referee screaming at him not to use it, he smacked Ken Shamrock over the head with it in a very non homosexual way in 14:15, which led to Rudy Charles calling the disqualification. Warrior beat on Wright and Bagwell after the bell before a recovering Shamrock roared as he got back to his feet after everyone had left the ring. C Mike Tenay, Don West and Potter go through the tale of the tale for the main event. C+ http://t1.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcQsCHSUEEaLUwteAuJvoeawCK7e29mOWY3tF_woa1s4ks-bhqN6Yg NWA TNA WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP Sid Vicious (champion) v Jeff Jarrett A really good match to end what has been a really good show and promises much for the year ahead. In terms of the match itself, it ran a similar course as the match back at Christmas Feast where Sid took the title. This time however, there was no interference from Eric Bischoff, nor any of his army and with no outside help, Jarrett succumbed after putting up a good fight in 19:41 by pinfall with a Powerbomb. Sid Vicious makes defence number 3 of his NWA TNA World Heavyweight title. Yes, you read that right, Jarrett agreed to lose clean! C Show rating: C- The show can be considered a success and should increase TNA’s popularity. Some of the angles *cough* one *cough* did not reach the standard of the matches. Attendance: 8625 Buy rate: 0.41 Profit: $106,322 The show drew the third largest crowd in TNA history and the fourth largest buy rate.

Nobby_McDonald
Impact preview Sid Vicious and Ken Shamrock are adamant that the third man in their World Championship triangle match won't make a difference. Judging by their intense confrontation on Explosion, they might have a point. However, the third man will make a difference... and Eric Bischoff is set to name him on this week's Impact. Jeff Jarrett is convinced that he is the real World Champion, despite Sid Vicious beating him twice within a month with the title on the line.
