TNA TV TITLE - Jose Maximo (champion) v CM Punk

Well my head says Punk, but I have a feeling that Jose could really use this win. I think you have done a great job with him after his brother left.

Jeff Jarrett v The Japanese Champion

Latin American Exchange v Pride of Britain

Devon Storm v Steve Corino

I saw Steve Corino in a restaurant two weeks ago before a ROH show and yes that is my sole reason for picking him to win.:D

Paul London v Ultimo Guerrero

<p>TNA TV TITLE - Jose Maximo (champion) v <strong>CM Punk</strong></p><p>

Punk has become the center of attention with anti-drug message. It seems to be working as there have been NO evidence of doping in the last few shows. TV title would be a simple reward for him and a bigger soapbox for him to stand on to deliver his message (and now he becomes a bigger target from some of those he had lashed out against as they chase his title)</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Jeff Jarrett</strong> v The Japanese Champion</p><p>

nice storyline building here as Jarrett beats the the champions from all over the world. Keeps him relevant and helps his case that he is the real world champ - until he finally gets another shot at the TRUE belt.</p><p> </p><p>

Latin American Exchange v <strong>Pride of Britain</strong></p><p>

Devon Storm v <strong>Steve Corino</strong></p><p>

Corino can develop into a huge star to help carry a few shows for you. Storm is nothing more than cannon fodder</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Paul London</strong> v Ultimo Guerrero</p><p>

like to see London get going well. Watching some of his "stoner videos" on Youtube makes me wonder if he would be a great challenger to Punk</p>

He was a promising young star in the original version and delivered a few good storylines. Somehow, I think you could build a major feud with him against Buff and Alex. Seems like Evan's partner for you was Air Paris (under an alias). I can see him winning a few of the midcard titles and helping to build a solid undercard. Who knows, with proper management, he could become the big dog in a year or so.</p>

<p>PRE SHOW</p><p>

Austin Aries had an interview hyping himself by telling everyone watching just... how.. good.. he... is... <strong>E</strong></p><p> </p><p>

In a bout that had solid in-ring action but not much in the way of heat, The Amazing Red defeated Nick Jackson in 6:10 by pinfall with a Code Red. Red was off his game. <strong>D+</strong></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Impact</strong></p><p>

Saturday, week 2, January 2004</p><p>

Genesis Convention Center, Gary, IN.</p><p>

Live on Spike TV</p><p> </p><p>

Eric Bischoff is in the ring with Ken Shamrock and Sid Vicious. He warns them that any violence towards him will result in an immediate firing. You can see Shamrock and Sid just itching to get their hands on Bischoff. He tells them that he has two announcements for their championship match at Genesis. First of all, he has decided that it will be a No Disqualification match. The other announcement is that the third man in their match will be... Mike Quackenbush. The arena falls silent in disbelief as Shamrock and Sid look at each other and Bischoff with puzzled looks on their faces. <strong>C</strong></p><p> </p><p>

Backstage, and Dusty Rhodes is seen watching on a monitor as as the wrestlers make their way to the ring for the opening match. <strong>D+</strong></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Paul London v Ultimo Guerrero</strong></p><p>

An opening match of acceptable quality, London did his cause no harm at all in his desire to obtain a manager's services with Harley Race, Roger Bagwell and Dusty Rhodes all interested. He was impressive against his masked, Mexican opponent with Dusty seen on a couple of occasions applauding London's efforts. London picked up the win in 8:22 by pinfall with a London Calling. <strong>D+</strong></p><p> </p><p>

Having picked up the victory, Paul London celebrates in the ring and Dusty Rhodes nods in approval. <strong>D-</strong></p><p> </p><p>

'Alpha Male' Monty Brown is shown backstage, where officials have just found him bloody and battered, the apparent victim of a sneak attack. He is stunned but conscious, but doesn't know who attacked him. <strong>C-</strong></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Devon Storm v Steve Corino</strong></p><p>

Corino made his much anticipated return after a lengthy enforced absence and looked impressive, as if he has barely missed any action at all. Storm performed well too as he looks to build momentum for his X Division Championship Challenge in eight days time. Corino was the man with his arms raised in 10:18 by pinfall with an Old School Expulsion. <strong>C-</strong></p><p> </p><p>

A music video is shown to promote America's Most Wanted. <strong>C-</strong></p><p> </p><p>

CM Punk comes out to the ring. He speaks out against Abyss and Jeff Jarrett as he has done in recent weeks. He tells both Abyss and Jarrett that things are falling into place firstly to deal with Abyss and then to take on Jeff Jarrett, clean up TNA and usher in a new era. <strong>C+</strong></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Latin American Exchange v Pride of Britain</strong></p><p>

A slightly disappointing match between two of the teams who are vying for contendership for the Tag Team Championship. Wolfe and Williams have a bit of a problem though... they just don't seem to gel as a team. The match became more and more chaotic and all four men started brawling in the aisle which led to Mickey Jay counting both teams out in 13:02. <strong>D+</strong></p><p> </p><p>

Eric Bischoff is backstage with his Army. He comments that Operation Steiner will be complete at Genesis when his soldiers take him out of action and whoever is foolish enough to agree to be his partner. <strong>C</strong></p><p> </p><p>

Back in the ring and Mr Wrestling IV is in it, angry at American Dragon. He says that Dragon reneged on the stipulation. By getting disqualified he lost the match and now he demands Dragon comes to the ring and unmask. Dragon does come to the ring and starts to remove his mask, but instead attacks Mr Wrestling IV and locks him in Arms Across America. When IV starts tapping, Dragon holds it on for a short while longer before leaving IV lying in the ring, readjusting his mask so it fits properly and leaving, remaining masked. <strong>D-</strong></p><p> </p><p>

Roger Bagwell and Buff 'The Puff' Bagwell are in a locker room, having a heated argument with Alex Wright. Wright has his bags packed. Buff says that he can't believe he is doing this. Wright says that he is made his mind up and he is leaving for Mexico where he can have all the hot senors he wants, and he is taking his pink paddle with him. Wright leaves and Buff and Roger are left crying... and where does this leave the NWA TNA Tag Team Championship? <strong>D-</strong></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Jeff Jarrett v The Japanese Champion</strong></p><p>

Jeff Jarrett gets the mic and introduces his opponent, The Japanese Champion...</p><p>

<span>http://t2.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcTzrJdg5cYwliE1SYCbIxDX-jvywX0mAXnNfURkJDf1zfLyRMfI</span></p><p>

Masato Tanaka.</p><p>

The two put on a good, entertaining contest with Tanaka's hard hitting no nonsense style putting Jarrett in some difficulty. Jarrett fought back though and out wrestled his opponent to take the victory in 7:56 by pinfall with The Stroke. Following the win, Jarrett again proclaimed that he is the real world champion. <strong>C</strong></p><p> </p><p>

Ultimate Warrior shouts from backstage in a moderately coherant fashion. He warns American Dragon that he has eight days left to cash in his Feast or Fired briefcase, so it might be wise for him to do so before he loses it to the might of the Ultimate Warrior. <strong>C-</strong></p><p> </p><p>

Rick Steiner speaks from backstage and laughs at Eric Bischoff's idea of Operation Steiner. He tells Bischoff that he has found the perfect partner for Genesis and that he is not going to give an arse like Bischoff the pleasure of knowing who it is. <strong>C+</strong></p><p> </p><p>

<span>http://t2.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcSkjMbl6XFRWUAJqssaG5isR9jq-bTbQmiPXsRp5p41WwMrVs3t</span></p><p>

<strong>TNA TV TITLE</strong></p><p><strong>

Jose Maximo (champion, with So Cal Val) v CM Punk</strong></p><p>

Despite the match having some great action and the crowd really being into it, as a main event it was a little disappointing. Maximo looked for a while as though he would retain the belt but then Punk mounted a sustained fightback and looked prime to win the TV Title only for Abyss to make an appearance. This distracted Punk and as Jose Maximo distracted Rudy Charles, Abyss got a steel chair and cracked Punk in the head with it. This allowed Maximo to retain in 14:47 by pinfall with a Maximo Explosion as Abyss laughed at ringside. Jose Maximo makes defence number 8 of his TNA TV title. <strong>D+</strong></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Show rating: D+</strong></p><p>

The show might have hurt TNA's popularity overall. A number of angles did not reach the standard of the in ring action.</p><p>

Attendance: 3427</p><p>

Rating: 0.71</p><p>

Loss: $57,087</p>

Divine Storm are interviewed backstage by Joel Gertner, they use this time to hype themselves up to the moon. E-

Impact

Saturday, week 3, January 2004

Smith Center, Washington D.C.

Live on Spike TV

Eric Bischoff is in his office backstage. In his office are America's Most Wanted, Full Blooded Italians, Latin American Exchange, Pride of Britain and Buff 'The Puff' Bagwell. Bischoff has one of the NWA TNA Tag Team Championship belts and addresses Buff Bagwell. He tells him that he has sympathy for him with Alex Wright walking out on him and leaving him without a partner. He tells Bagwell that it is with regret that he will have to strip him of the NWA TNA Tag Team Championship but promises Buff that if he can find a new partner, he will give him first shot at whomever the new champions are. Buff reluctantly hands over his championship belt and leaves the office. Bischoff then turns to the remaining eight men in front of him. He tells them that the stakes have been raised further at Genesis and instead of the four way match being for the number one contendership, it is now for the vacant belts. The eight men holler in delight before they start bickering about who will win the belts. Bischoff yells at them to shut up and says that there is one more thing... tonight there will be a four way singles match between Doug Williams, Homicide, Tony Mamaluke and 'Wildcat' Chris Harris. C

Elsewhere backstage and Ernest Miller is leading Eric's Army in a three on one beatdown on Rick Steiner, with Miller asking Steiner where his Genesis partner is right now. C

Doug Williams v Homicide v Tony Mamaluke v 'Wildcat' Chris Harris

Harris debuts AMW's new manager tonight, who is Midajah, who has been off TNA programming since Super Crazy left. It helped immense as the two appeared to play off each other straight away. The match was contest under similar rules as the four way tag match will be at Genesis in that there were two men in the ring at once and there were tags in and out... at least that was the idea as there were plenty of run ins from those on the apron and also a few Lucha Libre style 'tags'. When the dust finally settled, it was the Brit who had his arms raised in 9:12 when Doug Williams defeated Tony Mamaluke by pinfall with a Chaos Theory. D+

Christopher Daniels is backstage cutting a promo where he says that he intends to become TNA's greatest ever X Division Champion and Devon Storm and The Amazing Red are merely stepping stones on that path. C-

Dusty Rhodes approaches Paul London in the locker room. He tells London he has an offer to manage him that he will find far too lucrative to turn down. He hands London an envelope. London opens it and his eyes light up. Rhodes tells him to think about it and give him an answer soon. D+

TNA X DIVISION CHAMPIONSHIP

Christopher Daniels (champion) v The Amazing Red

Daniels first defence against the debuting Red and it was some contest. Fast paced and exciting throughout, both men put on a contest that left the fans breathless at times. Red was impressive on his debut and Daniels in winning showed that if Red is going to be of the calibre of opponent he will consistantly face and that if he has a long reign, his prophecy/boast earlier in the night may well come true... Daniels took it in 11:02 by pinfall with a Last Rites. Christopher Daniels makes defence number 1 of his TNA X Division title. C

Ultimate Warrior is backstage shouting a lot in a typical Warrior promo where he yells how he will win the Feast or Fired briefcase from American Dragon. As he is finishing off, an American Dragon masks flies across in front of Warrior. Warrior goes to pick up the mask only for a masked Dragon to attack him from behind with the briefcase, with him saying "I'm here". D+

Mr Wrestling is backstage, incredibly frustrated. He is angry at American Dragon for not unmasking so he challenges him to a second mask match at Against All Odds, this time with no disqualifications. C+

Buff 'The Puff' Bagwell and his husband Roger are backstage venting their anger at Alex Wright for abandoning them for a moustached sombrero wearing Mexican and causing Buff to lose his half of the NWA TNA Tag Team Championship. He says he will take out his anger on Mr Wrestling IV at Genesis, telling him it's nothing personal, he just happens to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. Buff then takes some handcuffs out of his pocket, handcuffs Roger to a bench and starts to spank him. C

Jeff Jarrett v The Brazilian Champion

Jarrett repeats his spiel about being the real world champion and tells how he has defeated all the worthy champions from Asia. He will now focus on South America and introduces tonight's opponent, The Brazilian Champion...

http://t3.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcR9EY9t-hd7D9S5DgK8gy9xqt8ZdwpdYdQp-vVfSn5lzzHLY080

Kafu came out all guns blazing and landed some heavy shots on Jarrett. That was mostly it though and Jarrett took full control. That is until Monty Brown ran in and as Jarrett and Rudy Charles got into a shoving match when Jarrett accused Charles of slow counting, Charles shoved Jarrett into a Pounce. Kafu made the cover slowly but Jarrett was able to kick out. Incensed, he laid into Kafu and took the match in 3:55 by submission with a Figure Four Leg Lock before pointing a finger at Monty Brown, telling him he will get him at Genesis. D

Little Guido cuts a promo saying that he and Tony Mamaluke will take the Tag Team Championship to Italy. C

Backstreet Boyz then speak from backstage saying that as a two time former NWA TNA Tag Team Championship they cannot believe that they are not in the four way for the vacant titles. They say they will take out their frustrations on Double X at Genesis. D

American Dragon & Buff 'The Puff' Bagwell (with Roger Bagwell) v Mr Wrestling IV & Ultimate Warrior

Quite an odd match here... two masked wrestlers, a screaming muscleman in face paint and a homosexual who put on a gimp mask for the match. In hindsight, although he looked the part in one of the strangest matches TNA has ever put on, it did hinder his performance as his vision was slightly impaired. Even so, his team proved to gel better as a unit. With IV in trouble, Dragon outwitted Warrior for the second time tonight by throwing a second American Dragon mask in his face and then running off, which prompted Warrior to chase him through the crowd. IV was looking for the tag but Warrior was not there so Bagwell capitalised in 13:09 and defeated Mr Wrestling IV by pinfall with a Buff Blockbuster. C

CM Punk is in the ring, commentating on how a new era is dawning in TNA and how Abyss will be made an example of to the TNA officials who swear by the old ideals of size, muscle, has beans and drugs. Abyss then appears on the video screen to interrupt Punk where he is seen crushing a coconut, a small metal box and a basketball with his bare hands, saying that CM Punk will go the same way tomorrow night at Genesis. Punk is not impressed and vows that Abyss will fall to the new dawn. C+

Steve Corino then appears, saying he is glad to be back in TNA following his long time on the injury list. It's time for him to get back to what he does best, which is kick ass and take names, with his next one being Paul London tomorrow night. C-

TNA TV TITLE

Jose Maximo (champion, with So Cal Val) v 'Alpha Male' Monty Brown

Despite the match drifting in places, this was a very good main event and a worthy way to close the show. Maximo and Brown battled back and forth in the ring and at ringside, and given what happened earlier, perhaps it was a little surprising that Jeff Jarrett did not make an appearance. Brown had his chances to take the TV Title but Maximo managed to make another successful defence and is looking a very solid champion. He won in 14:33 by pinfall with a Maximo Explosion. Jose Maximo makes defence number 9 of his TNA TV title. C+

Following the match, Mike Tenay, Don West and Potter run through the Genesis card, paying the most attention to the three way match for the NWA TNA World Heavyweight Champion where Sid Vicious defends against Ken Shamrock and Mike Quackenbush. B-
