Impact Preview

Bryan Danielson certainly has his hands full now he is World Champion. Eric Bischoff announced last week that he will face Sid Vicious on Explosion and the winner will face Ken Shamrock at Destination X. All three are in the building for Impact.

The Steiners shocked the world by turning on the fans and attacking the tag team champions last week. Will they explain their actions?

Christopher Daniels was complaining about how unfair it is at Destination X where he will defend in a six way Ultimate X. Homicide has left TNA, so will it be five way or will a replacement be announced? Will any of his opponents have anything to say?

Tune in on Saturday night to Spike TV

PRE SHOW

In a bout that had solid in-ring action but not much in the way of heat, Ultimo Guerrero defeated Keiji Sakoda in 6:16 by pinfall with a Reverse Superplex. D+

Impact

Saturday, week 4, February 2004

Jadwin Gym, Princeton, NJ.

http://t3.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcRL8c3CzL7n1NlyOoYIuivagLfbN2HO6_fyh3xMjtQCUxXNz9jH

Live on Spike TV

Ken Shamrock kicks off Impact cutting a promo on both Bryan Danielson and Sid Vicious. He says that he doesn't care who wins on Explosion as his focus is solely on winning the NWA TNA World Heavyweight Championship and he doesn't care who he has to beat to get it. C

CM Punk speaks from the backstage interview area. He talks about the benefits of not taking drugs, not smoking and not drinking alcohol. Scott Steiner interrupts and says that he is a prime example of the physical specimen, he is Big Poppa Pump, he is the big bad booty daddy. Punk tells Steiner that he makes him sick and walks off in disgust. B-

Roderick Strong v The Amazing Red

Although there was a lack of psychology on show during the match, it was a bout that featured some great action and was more than acceptable as an opening contest. Strong was making his Impact debut and was looking to make, well, an impact but Red was just too good and prevailed in 6:26 by pinfall with a Code Red. C

Backstreet Boyz cut a promo saying how they have been told their opponents at Destination X will be Divine Storm. They say that it is an absolute joke, that the two time former tag team champions have to face a pair of nobodies on pay per view. They finish by saying they will make an example of them. C-

Steve Corino then speaks from his locker room. He says he can't believe that a man as monstrous as Abyss can be such a coward, sneak attacking him last week. He tells Abyss that revenge will be sweet at Destination X. C+

Sid Vicious is walking backstage but a cameraman is following Bryan Danielson. He waits, spots his moment and attacks Sid with his championship belt, leaving him bloody on the concrete. C-

'Alpha Male' Monty Brown v Mike Sanders

Disappointing following the standard of the opening matchup. Brown had control of most of the match and looked set to take it when with Sanders distracting Mickey Jay, Austin Aries ran in and hit Brown with a low blow from behind. This allowed Sanders to nick victory in 8:51 by pinfall with a 3.0 D+

AJ Styles and Christopher Daniels are in the midst of a backstage argument. Styles tells Daniels he is ambitious and hungry with Daniels retorting that Styles should not be greedy and go after two titles. C

CM Punk is walking backstage, grumbling about the stars of old. He comes across Eric Bischoff, who has a warning for him and his New Dawn to not get too big for themselves. Punk has a look of suspicion on his face. B-

TNA TV TITLE

AJ Styles v Jorge Estrada

Another good match in which AJ Styles had almost total control and closed it out with some comfort in 8:30 by pinfall with a Styles Clash. AJ Styles makes defence number 4 of his TNA TV title. Estrada didn't put in a bad performance at all, he was just outclassed. C

Harley Race is backstage with the monster Abyss, whom he talks up and says that with the right guidance, there is no reason why he won't dominate TNA for many years to come. C

Jeff Jarrett then comes to the ring, where he addresses the former World Champion and the man that beat him for the title, Sid Vicious. He vows that he will not let Sid win back the title. B-

America's Most Wanted, Doug Williams & Jerry Lynn v Air Paris, Jose Maximo & Steiners

Scott Steiner is still showing signs of ring rust and was disappointing in this match, yet he was still able to lead his team to victory in a match that was wild, chaotic, entertaining and not short on action. This win puts the Steiners in very good stead with the Tag Team Championship on the line at Destination X. Their win came in 10:32 when Scott Steiner defeated 'Cowboy' James Storm by submission with a Steiner Recliner. C

Caprice Coleman and Jimmy Rave, the regular tag team in New Dawn are backstage being interviewed by Travis Morton. They talk about their match with Ernest Miller and Shane Douglas, saying they are excited to be facing such illustrious opponents and are determined to show what they are capable of. C

Joel Gertner interviews the Steiners backstage shortly after their match. They say that tonight showed America's Most Wanted that the Steiners are better than them and that they will not be Tag Team Champions for much longer. C

Buff 'The Puff' Bagwell (with Roger Bagwell) v Ken Shamrock

A good main event and a good way to finish this week's edition of Impact. An even contest where Buff showed how he has stepped up his game in recent weeks while Shamrock did what he does best... being Ken Shamrock. The number one contender did end up having enough as he took the victory in 16:49 by submission with an Ankle Lock. C+

Show rating: C

The show can be considered a success and should increase TNA's overall popularity. Some angles didn't reach the standard of the ring action.

Attendance: 3236

TV Rating: 0.70

Loss: $63,360

Impact was TNA's 10th best show in it's history.

Time for the POWER of the People to rise up again!! Maybe Marty can join forces with Necro Butcher and take TNA by storm!! What an invasion theory.

I think Marty could actually help out the younger members of New Dawn in matches en route to a blow-off main event against Punk. Short term deal for some long term benefits?

Really like seeing Race with Abyss. Reminds me of his days managing Big Van Vader, and maybe he can help turn Abyss into a modern day version (complete with cool headdress that blows smoke). :D

Impact Preview

Eric Bischoff plans to make an announcement for the World Championship match on Explosion in a few days time.

Meanwhile, Jeff Jarrett has vowed that Sid Vicious will not win the title back in that same match. Will he give anything away on Impact?

Back to Bischoff, he had a word of warning for CM Punk and his New Dawn last week. Will Punk shrug it off and carry on about his business or address the issue despite it not knowingly be about drink or drugs?

Watch Impact live on Spike TV on Saturday night.

<p>PRE SHOW</p><p>

In a bout that had solid in-ring action but not much in the way of heat, Tony Mamaluke defeated Pac in 6:17 by submission with a Sicilian Stretch. <strong>C-</strong></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Impact</strong></p><p>

Saturday, week 1, March 2004</p><p>

Broadbent Arena, Louisville, KY.</p><p>

<span>http://t1.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcTVbNnGa5eu1xBnivfXupIT0Dq0rjggEkciBVxRQOmtBRqCNc4R</span></p><p>

Live on Spike TV</p><p> </p><p>

Eric Bischoff is in the ring. He calls out Bryan Danielson, Sid Vicious and Ken Shamrock. The three come to the ring, with the champion being the last one to come to the ring. Danielson says that he will outwrestle Sid to which Sid retorts that he will break Danielson in half and claim back his title. Bischoff tells them he has a surprise for them. With Ken Shamrock challenging the winner at Destination X, Bischoff names him as the special guest referee at Explosion. Shamrock is surprised to and looks none to happy. <strong>C-</strong></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Arashi Assassins v Divine Storm</strong></p><p>

A rather non descript match that lacked any excitement did not have a lot of quality either. The Assassins killed off their opponents in 5:08 when Devon Storm defeated Chris Divine by pinfall with a Mind Bender. <strong>D</strong></p><p> </p><p>

'Alpha Male' Monty Brown is attacked again by a masked man backstage and thrown into a wall. The man removes his mask... and it is Austin Aries. He's either brave or stupid. <strong>C-</strong></p><p> </p><p>

We cut to elsewhere backstage, where AJ Styles and CM Punk are in mid brawl with Christopher Daniels and Jose Maximo, it being unclear as to who started it. A bevvy of officials and security break up the brawl before either pair gets the upper hand. <strong>C</strong></p><p> </p><p>

<span>http://t2.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcSkjMbl6XFRWUAJqssaG5isR9jq-bTbQmiPXsRp5p41WwMrVs3t</span></p><p>

<strong>TNA TV TITLE</strong></p><p><strong>

AJ Styles (champion) v Vampiro</strong></p><p>

Vampiro makes the most of Styles being in the brawl moments before the match to get the upper hand early on in the contest. He comes close to winning the title but Styles rallies back and completes the comeback in 8:31 by pinfall with a Styles Clash. AJ Styles makes defence number 5 of his TNA TV title. <strong>C+</strong></p><p> </p><p>

The Steiners are in the backstage interview area, remarking that they are tag team legends, the greatest team there has ever been and they will take TNA gold at Destination X. America's Most Wanted come by and attack their Destination X challengers with Storm throwing Rick Steiner through the back of the set. <strong>C</strong></p><p> </p><p>

Harley Race is in a dark, secluded part of the arena, where he hypes up his monster Abyss and says that he will soon leave a trail of destruction through TNA. <strong>C</strong></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Doug Williams v Hernandez</strong></p><p>

Another mediocre affair, one which saw a significant proportion of the crowd disappear for refreshments. Most had come back in time to see Williams take the match in 7:16 by pinfall with a Chaos Theory. <strong>D</strong></p><p> </p><p>

Jeff Jarrett speaks from his private locker room. He tells Sid Vicious that it doesn't matter that Ken Shamrock is the referee at Explosion, he will still prevent him from winning the World Championship as he isn't fit to hold it. <strong>B-</strong></p><p> </p><p>

Backstage and Joel Gertner is interviewing Ultimate Warrior, saying that he has heard he has an announcement to make. Warrior screams and shouts a lot and says he quits TNA as he is sick of being in a two bit company. <strong>D</strong></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>CM Punk's New Dawn (Karagias/Rave/Coleman/Red) v Buff 'The Puff' Bagwell (with Roger Bagwell) & Eric's Army</strong></p><p>

With Eric Bischoff warning CM Punk that his New Dawn should be wary about who he crosses paths with in regard to the people who have stroke in TNA, this was the first ring meeting between the New Dawn and Eric's Army. What followed was an action packed, fast paced affair that despite Ernest Miller being below his best was an entertaining contest. Eric's Army prevailed when the veteran of their team took the duke in 9:14 as Shane Douglas defeated The Amazing Red by pinfall with a Franchiser. <strong>C</strong></p><p> </p><p>

Eric Bischoff has called Backstreet Boyz into his office. He is pleased with his side's victory that he has just seen on a television and then turns to Kashmere and Acid. He tells them that as they want competition, they will face a team of his choosing on Explosion. The Boyz demand to know who, but Bischoff tells them that's for him to know. <strong>D+</strong></p><p> </p><p>

Abyss is still in a dark backstage area, but without Harley Race now. Steve Corino appears with a trash can and nails Abyss with it several times, leaving the big man down. <strong>C</strong></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Desmond Wolfe v Mike Sanders</strong></p><p>

Despite the match being relatively short, it wasn't short on action and quality as the two battled at each other with remarkable intensity. Wolfe took it in 5:50 by pinfall with a Tower of London with the fans left wanting more. <strong>C+</strong></p><p> </p><p>

Eric Bischoff is in the ring and is hosting a 'ethics versus money' debate between CM Punk and Scott Steiner. Punk passionately argues the case that TNA should adopt some strong ethics to set an example to the wrestling world and the fans. Steiner and Bischoff argue that the wrestling business has always been about titles and making money. Bischoff gets in Punk's face, telling him he should stand down before things get ugly for his "useless revolution". Punk doesn't stand or back down, but his attention fully on Bischoff allows Steiner to blindside him before putting him in the Steiner Recliner. <strong>C+</strong></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Abyss v Jerry Lynn</strong></p><p>

A strong main event and one where Lynn took the match to Abyss who was suffering from Corino's earlier attack while the two showed some great chemistry in the ring. Abyss' size and strength did eventually wear down his much smaller opponent and although Lynn used his superior speed and vast years of experience, it was the monster who won through in 13:42 by pinfall with The Black Hole. <strong>C+</strong></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Show rating: C</strong></p><p>

The show can be considered a success and should increase TNA's overall popularity. Some angles didn't reach the standard of the ring action.</p><p>

Attendance: 2974</p><p>

TV Rating: 0.87 (new TNA record)</p><p>

Loss: $74,251 (new TNA record)</p>
