a win here could help cement your top team and give them added prestige (unlike in the real TNA where they had AMW put over the Dudleys time and again).</p><p> </p><p>

TNA X DIVISION CHAMPIONSHIP</p><p>

ULTIMATE X</p><p>

exciting match that sees the debut of a true X-division pioneer, Marty Jannetty!!!! Marty puts a beating on CM Punk and lays out the champ Daniels allowing Paris to escape with a win. <img alt=":D" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/biggrin.png.929299b4c121f473b0026f3d6e74d189.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p>

even without Alex, and despite the bad on screen chemistry with Roger, Buff needs to return to the spotlight</p><p> </p><p>

Abyss v <strong>Steve Corino</strong> ©</p><p>

ok so he has Race, and is channeling Vader. Corino is a top star and should get the win here while making Abyss look like a million dollars. Win comes with Necro Butcher returns by popular demand to lay out Abyss. Abyss Time is delayed for a couple weeks, but is slowly building steam. </p><p> </p><p>

London needs to score a win to take advantage of all the "who will be his manager" hype. Would expect Sanders to push him a bit, but London is the big deal right now.</p>

PRE SHOW

In a match that had some good action and average heat, Robert Roode defeated Kid Kash in 6:29 by pinfall with a Northern Lariat. C-

Explosion

Wednesday, week 2, March 2004

Cameron Indoor Stadium, Durham, NC.

Live on UrbanXtra pay per view

Ken Shamrock is in the ring and Sid Vicious and Bryan Danielson make entrances. Shamrock has a microphone and runs through what he will and won't stand for in tonight's championship match... basically he wants a clean wrestling contest with no nonsense. Jeff Jarrett interrupts and repeats his previous warning that he will not let Sid win back the title tonight. Shamrock tells him that he won't interfere on his watch. C-

NWA TNA TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP

America's Most Wanted (champions, with Midajah) v Latin American Exchange (Hernandez & Estrada)

The show kicks off with the first of three championship matches which is a reasonable affair that lacked real spark or excitement. That's not to say it wasn't entertaining, it just didn't stand out of being overly good. The champions were in control of most of the bout and made the most of their ascendancy in 7:02 when 'Cowboy' James Storm defeated Jorge Estrada by pinfall with a Death Sentence. America's Most Wanted make defence number 3 of their NWA TNA World Tag Team titles. C-

A short video is shown where Little Guido says he will be back from injury after Destination X. C

Backstreet Boyz v Eric's Army

Kashmere and Acid have sought a challenge for some weeks and Eric Bischoff gave them one when he sent out Ernest Miller and Jose Maximo (with So Cal Val) to battle the former two time tag team champions. With the Boyz not knowing who exactly to prepare for, that certainly helped Bischoff's soldiers, who used this uncertainty to their advantage to take a match that drifted along in parts in 11:29 when Jose Maximo defeated Trent Acid by pinfall with a Maximo Explosion. C

The Steiners cut a promo from backstage where Rick says that they weren't impressed by America's Most Wanted's victory earlier on and Scott says that winning tag team gold off them will be like taking candy from a baby. C-

TNA X DIVISION CHAMPIONSHIP

Christopher Daniels (champion) v Mr Wrestling IV

A bout which saw some excellent back and forth action and kept the fans on the edge of their seats. IV was beginning to get the measure of Daniels and had winning his first TNA championship in his sights when seemingly from nowhere Mike Quackenbush rushed in and took him out while Rudy Charles was checking on Daniels. Daniels spotted his opportunity and took a cheap win, but a win, in 13:24 by pinfall with a Last Rites following interference from Mike Quackenbush. Christopher Daniels makes defence number 5 of his TNA X Division title. C+

Steve Corino makes a double promo from backstage. First of all he warns Rick Steiner that he will forget his singles match with Steve Corino tonight at his peril, or he will get his ass kicked. He then tells Abyss and Harley Race that he has not forgotten Abyss' attacks on him and Destination X will be where he will extract his revenge. C

Air Paris & Buff 'The Puff' Bagwell (with Roger Bagwell) v AJ Styles & Jerry Lynn

Quite an odd tag team match which provided a good quality match. Paris and Bagwell were a strange pairing but managed to work well together, as did Styles and Lynn who along with Paris are involved in Ultimate X at Destination X. It led to a match that saw plenty of action and all four men getting in some serious offence at some point of the match. AJ was the man with his arm raised in 12:09 when AJ Styles defeated Air Paris by pinfall with a Styles Clash. Styles and Lynn shook hands after the match. C

CM Punk speaks from his locker room, where he is limbering up for his match with Scott Steiner tonight. He tells Steiner that he detests everything he stands for, especially the drug taking which is the only way he has got to look how he looks. He tells Steiner he will show him what Straight Edge is all about tonight and he will see The New Dawn of TNA. C

Rick Steiner v Steve Corino

The consistantly good standard of the show tonight continued in another entertaining affair between two old hands. Steiner started by hitting hard but Corino started out wrestling him and wore his older opponent down. With Steiner tiring, Corino was able to take the win in 13:39 by pinfall with an Old School Expulsion. C

Eric Bischoff is in his office when Ernest Miller and Jose Maximo enter. He congratulates them on their victory earlier on over the two time former tag team champions and now he can not worry about them winning about not having challenges or competition. C-

CM Punk v Scott Steiner

Steiner put in a poor performance which led to CM Punk having most of the offence and nearly exclusively in control of the match. He was all set to win when Mickey Jay took a bump. Steiner took full advantage of the referee being down by fetching a steel pipe and knocking Punk out cold with it. He then put Punk in the Steiner Recliner and Punk was out, not even remotely resisting the hold. Mickey Jay came to and gave the match to Steiner in 14:39 by submission. The crowd start throwing trash into the ring, while Steiner stands over a prone Punk telling him there will be no new dawn. C

Before the main event, the announce team run through the tale of the tape. C

NWA TNA WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP

Bryan Danielson (champion) v Sid Vicious

Special Guest Referee: Ken Shamrock

Power versus wrestling. Big man versus one of the best smaller men in the business. Challenger v champion. With a former World and UFC champion as the referee.

The battle was intense. Sid caught Danielson a few times with power moves but Danielson was tenacious, refused to be counted out for the pin and mounted comebacks every time. Then Sid shook the ring with a Power Bomb. New champion... no, Danielson drapes his foot on the bottom rope and Shamrock cancels the three count as soon as he makes it. Sid gets in Shamrock's face. Shamrock doesn't back down. Jeff Jarrett sprints into the ring and hits Shamrock from behind, causing Shamrock and Sid to butt heads. Both go down and while Shamrock is recovering, Jarrett hits The Stroke on Sid. Danielson slaps on Arms Across America. Sid fights the hold with all he has left, but he is weakened and is weakened further. Eventually he can't fight no more and a recovered Shamrock is forced to give the win to Danielson with Jarrett nowhere in sight. Danielson wins in 19:43 by submission with an Arms Across America after interference from Jeff Jarrett. Bryan Danielson makes defence number 1 of his NWA TNA World Heavyweight title. C

Show rating: C (for consistant!)

The show can be considered a success and should increase TNA's overall popularity. Some angles didn't reach the standard of the ring action.

Attendance: 7573

Buy rate: 0.49 (5th highest in TNA)

after the last card, could see AMW having a full-blown war with Eric's Army (with maybe an assist from old rivals the Backseat Boyz). With the mix and match teams, they could rack up a few defenses and hopefully deliver some good matches while Steiners battle Punk's stable - building toward a big rematch.

Impact Preview

Jeff Jarrett lived up to his promise and prevent Sid Vicious from reclaiming the NWA TNA World Heavyweight Championship on Explosion. With the two scheduled to meet at Destination X, will Sid wait to extract revenge?

CM Punk's New Dawn came to a stall on the same show when Scott Steiner manipulated his way to a victory thanks to his lead pipe. Punk has requested a meeting with Eric Bischoff "as a matter of urgency". Will he get his meeting?

Ken Shamrock knows who he will challenge to try and and win TNA's greatest prize - Bryan Danielson. With the prospect of one of TNA's greatest wrestling matches on the horizon, will Danielson play fair?

Catch the action on Saturday night courtesy of Spike TV.

PRE SHOW

In a bout that had solid in-ring action but not much in the way of heat, Paul London defeated Nick Jackson in 5:45 by pinfall with a Dropsault. C-

Impact

Saturday, week 2, March 2004

Municipal Coliseum, Lubbock, TX.

http://t1.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcSKfZTHKARwMPszgacjgWlByJjepUN8q2Z9XJXud6w7aG8-OJbLAQ

Live on Spike TV

Impact opens with Jeff Jarrett and Sid Vicious brawling through the backstage area. Sid is clearly getting the better of the fight only for Jarrett to manage to crawl inside a car following a low blow on Sid and race off into the night. C+

Arashi Assassins v Steiners

Rick and Scott dominanted almost the entire opening contest which was mildly acceptable. Their predictable win came after a few minutes, in 5:32 when Scott Steiner defeated Devon Storm by submission with a Steiner Recliner. D+

We go backstage again where AJ Styles and X Division champion Christopher Daniels are having an argument. AJ mentions about their friendship from time spent together in indy feds but Daniels just flips him off, saying he doesn't care about friendship, just about keeping his X Division championship. C-

Steve Corino is in the ring cutting a promo on Abyss, telling him he will be getting his payback at Destination X when he takes down the monster. Harley Race then shows up and distracts Corino from the ringside area. Suddenly, Abyss sneaks up behind Corino and proceeds to beat Corino into the mat. C+

'Alpha Male' Monty Brown & Mike Quackenbush v Austin Aries & Mike Sanders

Brown and Quackenbush were displaying some excellent chemistry together in the ring and were in full control of the match. That was until Quackenbush shocked Brown by hitting him with the Quackendriver. Quackenbush then stood on at ringside and watched as the academic win was picked up by their opponents in 7:25 when Mike Sanders defeated 'Alpha Male' Monty Brown by pinfall with a 3.0. D+

After the match, Quackenbush celebrates with Aries and Sanders in the ring as the three laugh at a downed Monty Brown. D-

Ken Shamrock cut a promo where he says he now knows who his Destination X opponent will be and he is glad it is Bryan Danielson. He says the fans will see a fantastic wrestling match and the best wrestler will end up the champion... and the best wrestler is Ken Shamrock. C-

Ernest Miller and Shane Douglas talk from backstage, saying that it is men against boys at Destination X when they rip apart New Dawn. D+

TNA TV TITLE

AJ Styles (champion) v Air Paris

A very good contest between two men who are in Ultimate X - the TV Champion and somebody who might be considered a forgotten man in TNA, as Paris has not been done an awful lot of note in recent months. The match was a fast paced affair with some pockets of great action but suffered a little by a surprisingly quiet crowd. The champion retained in 14:02 by pinfall with a Styles Clash. AJ Styles makes defence number 6 of his TNA TV title. C+

Buff 'The Puff' Bagwell is in his locker room, decked out lavishly in pink with hearts, feathers and various homosexual leather wear dotted about. He tells about his excitement of his match with 'Alpha Male' Monty Brown at Destination X and how he is looking forward to getting his hands on some big black... muscle. C

Steve Corino is backstage, seething at Abyss' sneak attack earlier, only for it to happen again when Abyss assaults Corino, it being quick and brutal. Corino is out and paramedics come to attend to him as soon as Abyss roars and leaves. C+

Mr Wrestling IV cuts a promo on his pay per view contest against Mike Quackenbush. He also remarks he found Quackenbush's actions earlier tonight in turning on Monty Brown appalling. C

Doug Williams v Jose Maximo

TNA's first TV Champion put in an impressive performance against Williams who was not lacking in quality himself. Maximo built himself some momentum approaching Ultimate X by picking up the win against the tough Brit in 10:42 by pinfall with a Maximo Explosion. C-

Desmond Wolfe shows Mike Sanders no respect at his actions earlier tonight in masterminding the backstabbing of Monty Brown, calling him "scum". D

CM Punk and Eric Bischoff are in the ring, having a heated exchange over the direction of TNA similar to how they have in the past, CM Punk wanting to see a New Dawn that is drug and politics free while Bischoff just wants to make money at whatever cost. The subject of Scott Steiner is brought up and Punk demands a rematch due to Scott Steiner cheating on Explosion. Bischoff refuses and the two argue before Steiner himself appears and attacks Punk to the mat, remarking that he looks good when he is squashed flat. He applies the Steiner Recliner as Bischoff taunts Punk. B-

Buff 'The Puff' Bagwell (with Roger Bagwell) v Sid Vicious

A disappointing main event that saw Jeff Jarrett again interfere in Sid's match, hitting him with The Stroke. Buff capitalised in 14:39 by pinfall with a Buff Blockbuster but it is a match that won't last too long in the memory of TNA's fans. D+

Show rating: C-

Some of the angles helped to lift the show as a whole.

Attendance: 3549

TV rating: 0.88 (new Impact record)

Loss: $56,806

Who will Roger and Buff "recruit".....um.....I mean "turn".....um.....well by whatever term, who will take Bagwell's place against Monty? With Alex out of the picture, Roger and Buff need a good 3rd (menage a trois)

congrats on the DOTM!!!!!

Nice to see some of your guys doing so well on the indy circuit. Hope you are able to capitalize on their popularity in those local areas to draw bigger crowds and ratings.

Yes, the innuendo was not at all hidden there. :D

Typically though, Buff goes and breaks his arm elsewhere so he is going to have to wait to get his hands on some big black meat.

I will announce who Buff's substitute is on the next Impact. By all means change if you want to in due course.
