PRE SHOW

In a bout that had solid in-ring action but not much in the way of heat, Arashi Assassins defeated Middle Eastern Nightmare in 6:04 when Devon Storm defeated Shawn Daivari by pinfall with a Mind Bender. D

Live on Spike TV

CM Punk kicks off the show, expressing his delight that although he wasn't able to defeat Scott Steiner in the ring, Steiner's true colours have been shown with Steiner leaving TNA following his second failed drugs test. He tells of his delight that his ideals and beliefs are being recognised as the right ones that TNA should adopt and that slowly but surely, not only is TNA becoming clean, but it is also adopting an approach that promotes competition between wrestlers, not favouring has beens of yesteryear.

He gets interrupted by Eric Bischoff. Bischoff tells Punk it's not the young punks that put bums on seats and money in the bank, it's the established stars... the Jeff Jarretts... the Shane Douglas... the Scott Steiners...

Punk is incensed. He flies into a rant and demands to know from Bischoff if Steiner was fired from TNA for his misdemeanours or did he walk. Bischoff is reluctant to answer at first, until Punk gets in his face. Bischoff unwillingly admits that Steiner walked, unhappy with a fine levied on him by TNA. Punk tells Bischoff that he and TNA management need to grow a set of balls and leaves the ring in disgust. C+

New Dawn v Quiet Storm

A technically sound enough match but it was done in front of a dead crowd, so it suffered as a result. Although Punk walked away from the ring with disgust a few minutes ago, he will be pleased with the performance of his tag team as they largely dominated their match against Quiet Storm and picked up the win in 6:10 when Jimmy Rave defeated Chris Divine by pinfall with a Dawn Awakening. D+

EZ Money is in the ring and calls out Doug Williams. He tells Williams that he intends to make a name for himself in TNA and he wants to do it at the expense of Williams. E+

Eric Bischoff has Rick Steiner in his office. Bischoff expresses his regret at Scott's decision to walk away from TNA, but assures Rick that as long as Rick keeps "doing the right things" then he will ensure he will go places in TNA. Rick Steiner shakes Bischoff's hand and says he is glad. C

Following a commercial break, Eric Bischoff is now in the ring again. He tells all watching that it is time that he announces the team captains for Lethal Lockdown. He calls out the two team captains for this year's Lethal Lockdown match...

<iframe title="YouTube video player" width="640" height="390" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/R8-Gdv72ZqE" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

When AJ has climbed into the ring, then Eric Bischoff introduces his opposing captain...

<iframe title="YouTube video player" width="480" height="390" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/5bksg5OwTeU" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

With AJ and Danielson in the ring, the two briefly stare at each other, there is a modicum of intensity and respect there and AJ eyes up the NWA TNA World Heavyweight Championship while wearing the TNA TV Title.

Bischoff tells them that he has decided they should be this year's team captains. Ordinarily, he would let them pick their partners, and to an extent he will. However, he tells AJ Styles that he wants him to captain a team containing CM Punk's New Dawn and he tells Danielson that he wants him to captain a team containing Eric's Army. Danielson argues that that doesn't give him a choice of partners. Bischoff smiles at him and says "maybe it will". AJ is suspicious and Bischoff closes that he will add another twist to the match "in a couple of weeks". C+

'Alpha Male' Monty Brown v Austin Aries

Brown unleashed some of his rage built up in recent weeks at the hands of Aries, Mike Quackenbush and Mike Sanders. He pulverised Aries from post to post, who did his upmost to hang on in there. Brown took a brutal win in 6:32 by pinfall with The Pounce. D+

Desmond Wolfe is in the ring and says that he has not seen a lot of action of late, that he has been buried underneath the influx of old stars. He issues an open challenge for Lockdown for anybody in the locker room to take him on. D+

A car backs into the parking lot. Out steps Abyss and Harley Race. The open the boot/trunk, which has been lined with plastic sheeting and has a bound and gagged Steve Corino inside. Abyss lifts out Corino and takes him out of sight. Moments later, they reappear, with fans inside the arena showing their horror as Corino has been tarred and feathered. Abyss lifts him back into the boot/trunk and slams it shut. He gets back in the passenger seat and Harley Race drives them away again. C

Christopher Daniels v The Amazing Red

Two top contenders in the X Division square off as the former champion meets the ultra quick, always exciting Red. The match that followed maybe was not quite as good as people had hoped for, but it wasn't too bad. Both men had roughly equal share of offence and as the dust settled it was Daniels who had his arm raised in 8:49 by pinfall with a Last Rites. C-

Eric Bischoff is backstage again, this time with Ernest Miller and Shane Douglas in his office. He tells them the time has come for Eric's Army to have the power. Jose Maximo has the X Division Championship, and he tells Douglas and Miller to bring Bischoff the Tag Team Championship. C-

Backstreet Boyz v Eric's Army

The action picks up in a hot tag team match between the two time former champions and a psyched up Eric's Army. Their new found focus propelled them to claim a very good win that will certainly raise their stock and put them up among the top contenders for AMW's championship. The victory came in 9:23 when Shane Douglas defeated Trent Acid by pinfall with a Franchiser. C

Here is Eric Bischoff again... he appaulds Douglas' and Miller's victory and then introduces the new TNA X Division Champion, Jose Maximo. Maximo walks out, and the two celebrate Maximo's championship win at Ultimate X with some champagne. C

TNA TV TITLE

AJ Styles (champion) v Rick Steiner

AJ was having the majority of the match against his older, slower opponent and had Steiner set up ready for the Styles Clash. However, Eric Bischoff had come to ringside and took Rudy Charles away from the action, and this enabled his entire Army to run in and stop Styles from hitting the Clash on Steiner. Styles was left in a bad way and it didn't take much longer for Steiner to steal the title, doing so in 8:21 by pinfall with a Top Rope Bulldog. Rick Steiner wins the TNA TV title. C+

Finally, a part of the show without Eric Bischoff! Mr Wrestling IV and Vampiro are having an argument about being their true selves in TNA. IV says that nobody lives like a vampire in this day and age, while Vampiro remarks that at least he doesn't hide behind a mask. C-

Air Paris v Ken Shamrock

Main event time and it was a good one, probably helped by everybody being sick of the sight of Eric Bischoff tonight and he was nowhere to be found here. Paris really elevated his game in the main event as he troubled Shamrock in ways Shamrock rarely experiences, with the former UFC Champion struggling to get to grips at times with Paris' superior speed. Shamrock did manage to turn things round and ground out a victory in 12:34 by submission with an Ankle Lock. C

Show rating: C-

The show can be considered a success and should increase TNA's popularity.

Some of the angles didn't match the standard of the matches.

Attendance: 3431

TV rating: 0.89 (new TNA record)

Loss: $53,604

Impact Preview

Eric Bischoff revealed the two Lethal Lockdown captains last week in AJ Styles and NWA TNA World Heavyweight champion Bryan Danielson. He also added that while they will have some freedom to pick their partners, AJ will have to pick from his fellow CM Punk's New Dawn members and Danielson will have to pick members of Eric's Army. Bischoff also promised he will add another twist to the match. Will any partners or the twist be revealed this week?

Abyss and Harley Race have been doing some horrific, shocking things to Steve Corino. First they kidnapped him prior to Destination X, only bringing him back for long enough for Abyss to beat him before they took him away again. Last week they briefly brought Corino back again, this time so Abyss could tar and feather him. Corino has not been seen or heard in the whole week since. What is next in this shocking saga?

EZ Money, a man who has been in TNA for a while without making any impact, last week said he intends to make a name for himself at the expense of Doug Williams. With no match signed between the two, one must wonder how EZ will do this.

Also, Little Guido returns to action following an injury layoff.

Live on Spike TV

Sid Vicious comes to the ring as Impact comes on air. He doesn't hang around, he immediately calls out Jeff Jarrett. Jarrett is reluctant to go near his much taller adversary even though by hook or crook he has been getting the better of him. Sid challenges Jarrett to end it all at Lockdown, something that Jarrett, perhaps surprisingly, agrees to. C+

Backstage, and following his victory last week, 'Alpha Male' Monty Brown is showing no respect to Austin Aries, saying his pounding last week was coming to him for all of his chicanery over the previous weeks. E+

Kid Kash v Paul London (with Dusty Rhodes)

A very good opening contest saw the grapplers trade offence throughout. Had the crowd held much interest in the start of the match, it may have turned out even better still. With Kash in control, Rhodes gave some timely advice to London and it enabled him to wriggle out of the Money Maker and enabled him to build up to victory in 8:12 by pinfall with a London Calling. C

Eric's Army - Douglas and Miller - have a warning for America's Most Wanted. They are gunning for their titles and they will take it one way or another, as the pair hold up the Feast or Fired briefcase. C-

EZ Money is in the ring, and calls out Doug Williams to face him. As soon as Williams appears he gets jumped by Jorge Estrada, who had been lying in wait. The ambush leaves Doug Williams down and out and Money repeats his warning to Williams that he will make a name for himself at the expense of him. E

Backstreet Boyz v Full Blooded Italians

Little Guido makes his return to the ring and a small section of the crowd cheer his entrance, despite him being heel. It doesn't look like he has missed a step either as he looks good on his first match back, unlike his opponent Trent Acid who looked bad. This helped Mamaluke and Guido to chalk up an impressive victory over the former two time champions with it coming in 8:50 when Little Guido defeated Trent Acid by pinfall with an Arriverderci. Another good match too. C

<iframe title="YouTube video player" width="480" height="390" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/IrpX2funA0Y?rel=0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Harley Race comes to the ring, Abyss is not with him. Race gets a mic and he says he acknowledges that he and Abyss have been doing terrible things of late to Steve Corino and people are horrified at their actions. Surprisingly, he says they are right. He and Abyss have been horrific regarding Steve Corino. Race then cackles... and says there is more to come and points up to the rafters.

A spotlight spots Abyss, who has a hooded and bound Steve Corino at his feet. Corino's body shows little sign of life. Abyss pushes Corino off the ledge, and he is left dangling by a rope tied around his neck. The crowd gasps in horror as the show quickly cuts to the announce table where Mike Tenay, Potter and Don West express their utter disgust at what just happened. C+*

Backstage, and blissfully unaware of what just transpired in the arena, we see AJ Styles and CM Punk. The two talk Lethal Lockdown, speculating what twist Eric Bischoff has in store, and they both think it will be something to favour Danielson's team of Eric's Army. AJ finishes by saying it is a no brainer, the leader of New Dawn will be in the match. Punk says they will do the job. C+

Desmond Wolfe v Mike Sanders

The high standard of wrestling continues with this match which was different from the previous two as it was more of a technical affair and if anything was slightly better for it. Wolfe had a little more of the match and was shaping up to win when Christopher Daniels interfered and enabled Sanders to pick up the win in 9:42 by pinfall with a 3.0. C+

Sid Vicious cuts a promo backstage. He says he is going to briefly shift focus from Jeff Jarrett as he is disgusted with what Abyss did to Steve Corino earlier in the show. Abyss needs some sense beat into him, and since Corino is unable to do it at the moment, Sid says he will on Explosion. C

We move to Eric Bischoff's office. He is in discussions with Bryan Danielson about Lethal Lockdown and tells him that the twist he has for Lethal Lockdown presents a great opportunity for both sides, but he is fully confident that with the NWA TNA champion leading his Army, only one team will ever win the match. Danielson seems happy. C

As Danielson walks out, Jose Maximo approaches him. The new X Division Champion tells Danielson he wants in on the match. Danielson agrees and walks off. C-

TNA TV TITLE

Rick Steiner (champion) v Jerry Lynn

Another match that was different - two veterans with contrasting styles - and another match of siginificant quality. The crowd may not be as large as other shows, but they are definately being treated to some very good action. Lynn came close but Steiner ultimately retained in 12:35 by pinfall with a Top Rope Bulldog. Rick Steiner makes defence number 1 of his TNA TV title. C

Ken Shamrock speaks from a gym. He says that Air Paris impressed him last week when Shamrock beat him on Impact, so much so that he is offering to meet him again at Lockdown and give Paris the chance to impress on a big stage. C

Abyss is still in the rafters of the building. He says he will take a sadistic pleasure in doing the same to Sid Vicious as he is to Steve Corino. D+

Jeff Jarrett v Mr Wrestling IV

The best is saved to last and a fifth very good match and a more than suitable way to end what has probably been the best Impact in TNA's history. IV was doing well against the TNA founder, but when Vampiro's music played and the lights dimmed, he got distracted, despite Vampiro being nowhere to be found. Jarrett being Jarrett, he had no qualms about taking advantage and did so to take the contest in 14:46 by pinfall with The Stroke. B-

Show rating: C

The show can be considered a success and should increase TNA's popularity.

Some of the angles didn't match the standard of the matches.

Attendance: 2859

TV rating: 0.96 (new TNA record)

Loss: $63,014

Impact was the 8th best show in TNA history (and the 3rd best Impact)

*No Steve Corinos were harmed in the making of that segment.
