Taylor Arena, Rochester, MN.

Impact starts with New Dawn coming to the ring resplendant with their new titles - CM Punk as World Champion, New Dawn as Tag Team Champions and The Amazing Red as X Division Champion. Evan Karagias already is the TV Champion and Mike Tenay says that he defends tonight against Kid Kash.

CM Punk leads the group in the ring and leads the celebration of the dawning of the new dawn in TNA. He says that finally TNA is being led by true champions, led by men who live for wrestling, who live their life cleanly without the need for drink or drugs, who live with respect for other competitors. He congratulates all his New Dawn members for winning their championships and for being the role models for the children that professional wrestlers should be.

Eric Bischoff interrupts, telling New Dawn that they are turning his stomach. He says wrestling is not about keeping kids happy, it's about making money and New Dawn won't make him or TNA any money. Bischoff says that while New Dawn might have the power that goes with the gold, he reminds them that he still has the power that goes with being the authority figure of TNA. He informs New Dawn that Jose Maximo and Eric's Army will get their rematches at Slammiversary II and while Jeff Jarrett earned the right to a title match at Slammiversary II, Bryan Danielson will therefore get his rematch on Explosion, with the winner facing Jarrett. New Dawn's celebrations have been muted. B-

We cut backstage, where Dusty Rhodes is talking up Paul London and how he will soon become the X Division champion. London is holding on to the Feast or Fired briefcase. C-

Backstreet Boyz v The Young Bucks

A somewhat disappointing start to the action as the former Tag Team champions proved too strong for the young Buck brothers, who nonetheless showed they have potential. The ex champs won the contest in 6:23 when Johnny Kashmere defeated Nick Buck by pinfall with a Backstreets Back. D

Eric's Army are backstage. They are angry and say that New Dawn got lucky at Sacrifice and fluked a win. They say that at Slammiversary II they will not be lucky as Miller and Douglas will not lose focus. C-

Vampiro then speaks from a the dark depths of the arena. He taunts Mr Wrestling IV, saying that he lack honour by not removing his mask when he lost at Sacrifice. D+

Brits Abroad v The Fringe (Aries & Quackenbush)

A considerably better match than the opener and also a much more even affair. The Fringe continue to make themselves noticed as they were victorious in 7:43 when Austin Aries defeated Chris Hero by pinfall with a 450° splash. C-

Ken Shamrock and Sid Vicious are in the locker room, arguing with each other about Ultimate Sacrifice and each blaming the other for preventing them from winning. Eric Bischoff has heard the commotion and enters... and then tells them they can settle their argument at Slammiversary II. C

Back at ringside and The Fringe make an appearance. Mike Sanders talk the group up, telling that they are emerging from the fringes and into prominance. He also says that Kid Kash will become the next TNA TV Champion. D

Doug Williams v EZ Money

Williams fairly comfortably got the better of one of the men who have been a thorn in his side of late, with Williams' success coming in 8:49 by pinfall with a Chaos Theory. C-

Rick Steiner is backstage, devastated at losing Ultimate Sacrifice and losing his place in Eric's Army. Steve Corino walks by and laughs at Steiner, saying he gets what he deserves for aligning himself with poison such as Bischoff. C-

In a horrific display of brutality, Harley Race orders his client, Abyss to attack an unaware and quickly bloodied Desmond Wolfe. The list of victims of Race and Abyss keeps on rising... C

TNA TV TITLE

Evan Karagias (champion) v Kid Kash

Karagias looked good against Kash as he and his New Dawn colleagues are riding a high wave of momentum at the moment. He overcame Kash in 12:52 by pinfall with a Tidal Wave. Evan Karagias makes defence number 3 of his TNA TV title. D+

AJ Styles and Bryan Danielson are backstage, talking about respect. AJ says of his respect for Danielson's abilities but he wishes that Danielson was on the side of the New Dawn, as he feels that New Dawn share many beliefs and traits than Danielson does. Danielson dismisses AJ. Eric Bischoff arrives on scene, and books another match for Slammiversary II, between Styles and Danielson. C-

Buff 'The Puff' Bagwell is in a locker room, crying. He is in despair and disbelief that 'Alpha Male' Monty Brown has resisted his advances and instead gone with The Godfather and "those two straight sluts". Buff says he has not given up on the big black love muscle yet. C-

Jeff Jarrett v Jerry Lynn

While most of the show has hardly been too impressive, at least it started with an entertaining segment and finished with an entertaining match. We got what we expected, Jarrett baiting the fans, his opponent and using shady tactics while Lynn gave his usual polished, consistant performance. This led to him troubling Jarrett, however it was TNA's founder and former World Champion who took the win in 19:08 by pinfall with The Stroke. C+

Show rating: C

The show can be considered a success and should increase TNA's popularity.

A number of angles did not reach the standard of the ring action.

Abyss' rampage goes on. Last week he brutally attacked Desmond Wolfe, the latest in his growing list of bloody victims. Will Wolfe fight back or will Abyss bloody somebody else?

New Dawn has all the gold but Eric Bischoff still has power as he lines up challenges for the champions of New Dawn. Will he reveal their Explosion opponents or leave them guessing?

Staying with Bischoff, he has a big announcement to make on Impact regarding a new event in TNA.

I wonder what the hell is up with that. I see that all of the time in the C-Verse, I mean from a game standpoint I understand why the AI does that. However, from a player standpoint I think it is dumb.

PRE SHOW

In a match that had some good action but not much in the way of heat, Masato Tanaka defeated Roderick Strong in 7:30 by pinfall with a Roaring Elbow. C-

Impact

Saturday, week 1, June 2004

Lyndonville State Fairgrounds, Lyndonville, VT.

http://t3.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcQOhjZcp2rkPOeEg_v9dVR1OuffAbMSA25re5fpwS5cSaMhLMP88Q

Jeff Jarrett is in the ring to start Impact and he calls out CM Punk. Punk walks to the ring and Jarrett tells him that at Slammiversary II, Punk had better get any ideas out of his head about taking over TNA because Jarrett is going to kick his ass. Punk tells Jarrett he needs to take his head out of his ass as it's not Punk's intention to take over TNA, it's his intention to clean it up... and now that young, clean, hungry wrestlers hold the championships Punk thinks that New Dawn are doing a pretty good job of it.

Jarrett's response is to say the nonsense stops at Slammiversary II. B-

Backstage and EZ Money has laid out both Doug Williams and Jorge Estrada with a steel pipe. E

A short music video plays hyping The Fringe and recapping their gradual rise thus far in TNA. E+

Full Blooded Italians v Pride of Britain

Finally we get to the opening contest and it is a very watchable affair. Doug Williams, suffering from the earlier EZ Money attack, and Pac show great chemistry together. However, the FBI are on a roll and this continued in 6:31 when Tony Mamaluke defeated Pac by pinfall with a Springboard DDT. After the match, Mike Tenay announces that Full Blooded Italians will face Backstreet Boyz at Slammiversary II in a number one contenders match. C-

Eric Bischoff has Ernest Miller and Shane Douglas in his office. He tells them to get the job done at Slammiversary II or there will be consequences. Miller and Douglas remain silent and are clearly taking Bischoff's threat seriously. C-

Mr Wrestling IV finds Vampiro backstage, and beats him up to gain a measure of revenge. E+

Desmond Wolfe v Mike Sanders v Paul London (with Dusty Rhodes)

A good quality match with some exciting spots. All three men looked good and had chances to earn victory. It was Paul London, being spurred on by Rhodes at ringside, who emerged victorious in 9:45 when Paul London defeated Mike Sanders by pinfall with a London Calling. C+

Ken Shamrock is cutting a promo, which has the impression of 'sour grapes' over him not winning Ultimate Sacrifice. Sid interrupts, telling him to get over it and man up for Slammiversary. C-

Steve Corino speaks from the ring, where he challenges Rick Steiner to a match at Slammiversary II. Steiner appears on the stage and accepts Corino's challenge as he has something to prove. C-

Arashi Assassins & Jerry Lynn v Double X & Air Paris

A solid enough contest that was good enough to keep interest but not good enough to be particularly memorable. Lynn's experience and consistancy helped his team to prevail in 9:37 when Jerry Lynn defeated Frankie Kazarian by pinfall with a TKO. C-

Dusty Rhodes and Paul London are backstage. London is happy with his victory earlier and Rhodes tells him he has another stern test lined up for him, this time at Slammiversary II. Rhodes tells his protege that he will face Christopher Daniels. London seems excited at the prospect. D

Harley Race is backstage with Abyss. Race says that Abyss enjoyed bloodying Desmond Wolfe on last week's Impact and that he is looking forward to doing it again when they meet at Slammiversary. C-

TNA TV TITLE

Evan Karagias (champion) v Christopher Daniels

I'm a bit disappointed here, I was expecting a match between two talents like Karagias and Daniels to be much better, as it was it was largely mediocre and nondescript. Karagias defended in 12:17 by pinfall with a Tidal Wave. Evan Karagias makes defence number 4 of his TNA TV title. D+

AJ Styles and Bryan Danielson are exchange heated words backstage about Danielson losing the World Championship at Sacrifice and their upcoming match at Slammiversary. AJ also remarks that Danielson doesn't need to side with the likes of Eric Bischoff, something that Danielson took some exception to. C

Elsewhere backstage and there are more heated words... this time Buff 'The Puff' Bagwell is blaming The Godfather for spoiling his chance of getting some big black love muscle when he enticed 'Alpha Male' Monty Brown away with "two disgusting sluts". Godfather tells Buff to watch his mouth, he only deals with the classiest of ladies and that Monty knows which way he swings. C

Jose Maximo v Mr Wrestling IV

Thankfully, the best action was 'saved' for the main event, as Maximo, a man who has really come into his own in TNA with a TV Title and X Division Championship reign to his name met IV, a man who has potential but has yet to deliver on it. The match proved to be entertaining and lifted a crowd that only had a modicum of interest in the match. Both men showed off their best offence. The end came when Vampiro made an appearance and distracted Mr Wrestling IV, which allowed Maximo to claim the match in 14:23 by pinfall with a Maximo Explosion. C+

Following the match, Eric Bischoff's music hits and he walks to the ring. He applauds Maximo's victory before taking a microphone. He says he has an announcement to make regarding a new event that will be happening over the coming months in TNA. He announces that this coming week, the first ever TNA Nations Cup will start, where eight teams of four will battle in a knockout format until one team is left, winning the TNA Nations Cup for their nation. He finishes by saying that the full format and teams including competitors will be posted on tna.com this coming week. For once, Bischoff gets a good reception as Impact goes off air. B-

NWA TNA TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP

New Dawn (champions) v Double X (with Francine)

Explosion starts with an explosive Tag Team Championship match where three men looked good but Rocky Romero put in a sub par performance. This made Kazarian carry most of the match for Double X and this ultimately cost the challengers as New Dawn made their first defence in 7:32 when Caprice Coleman defeated Frankie Kazarian by pinfall with a Dawn Awakening. New Dawn make defence number 1 of their NWA TNA World Tag Team titles. C-

Ken Shamrock speaks from backstage where he says that he is sick of Sid Vicious rubbing it in that he failed to win Ultimate Sacrifice. D-

TNA NATIONS CUP

QUARTER FINAL MATCH 1

Jerry Lynn v Kid Kash

http://t1.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcSm6E7KXHDFrNg9KVTh5-_PJ0Hk9r6QP194ApzOaiNE5KfrQCpkXw v http://t1.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcSm6E7KXHDFrNg9KVTh5-_PJ0Hk9r6QP194ApzOaiNE5KfrQCpkXw

A very good match to kick off TNA's new Nations Cup and although the fans weren't sure what to make of the whole concept initially, the quality of this match soon drew in their interest. Kash has always been a bit of a nomad in wrestling, but he was quality here while Lynn was his ultra consistant self. Lynn came away with victory here in 9:51 by pinfall with a Cradle Piledriver. C+

USA I 1 USA II 0

Harley Race is in the bowels of the building with Abyss. He says Abyss will destroy Desmond Wolfe at Slammiversary and welcomes him to his own personal hell. Abyss is seen in the background battering an unknown male to the ground. C

TNA X DIVISION CHAMPIONSHIP

The Amazing Red (champion) v Mike Quackenbush

The Fringe's first shot at gold and Quackenbush puts in a sterling effort in a reasonable match. New Dawn are riding a huge wave of momentum and this continues as Red overcomes his challenger in 10:59 by pinfall with a Code Red. The Amazing Red makes defence number 1 of his TNA X Division title. C-

Jeff Jarrett is backstage and has some stern words of wisdom for CM Punk. He warns Punk that he does not know the business side of wrestling and that it isn't an ideal world of drug free athletes. Wrestling is a business where the better man wins by whatever means and money is to be made. He says that should Punk overcome Danielson tonight, at Slammiversary he will beat a lesson into him. C

Air Paris v Brian Lawler

A disappointing match and hardly an impressive debut by Lawler, though the match wasn't helped by the two not clicking in the ring. Lawler had a larger share of the offence and prevailed in the match in 13:52 by pinfall with a Top Rope Legdrop. D

Rick Steiner is backstage, verbally giving Steve Corino what for for being "a meddling bastard". Steve Corino walks by and tells Steiner to meddle this and lays into him. Security are quickly on hand to break up what is no more than a scuffle. E+

AJ Styles v Mike Sanders

New Dawn and The Fringe clash for the second time tonight and the match is a little better than the first and brings out the same result. AJ picks up an impressive win in 12:17 by pinfall with a Styles Clash. C

The Godfather is backstage with a large, black man who is not 'Alpha Male' Monty Brown. He enters Buff 'The Puff' Bagwell's locker room and says that he feels sorry for Buff feeling down and alone, so he has brought him somebody. He tells Buff that he does not usually deal with gay hos but he will make an exception and offers Buff the services of Dwight for the night. Buff's eyes light up as he eagerly eyes Dwight up and down before rubbing his chest. Buff is grinning like a Cheshire cat as the cameras decide to make an exit. C

Eric's Army v Ken Shamrock & Sid Vicious

While Shamrock may have been vocal in his dislike for Sid earlier in the night, there was no sign of this in the match as he and Sid worked well together and were in control for most of the match.

Until...

Ken Shamrock attacked Sid from behind when he had Ernest Miller set up for a power bomb. Shamrock locks Sid in the Ankle Lock and after about 30 seconds in the hold, Sid starts tapping while Shane Douglas laughs from the ring apron. Shamrock then leaves Sid in the ring to loud boos. Sid gingerly gets back up, only to be met by a recovering Ernest Miller and the match ended in 18:08 when Ernest Miller defeated Sid Vicious by pinfall with a Thrust Kick. C-

Shamrock's turn went pretty well.

As we wait for the match between CM Punk and Bryan Danielson to commence, Tenay and Potter run us through the Tale Of The Tape. C-

NWA TNA WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP

CM Punk (champion) v Bryan Danielson

Some great wrestling action as the two put on a clinic, but the crowd have been a little subdued with the show thus far being a little substandard on the whole. The match followed a similar pattern as to the Sacrifice match where Punk won the title, again both men having chance and coming very close to being triumphant and walking home with the belt. Ultimately, it was Punk who retained and goes on to face Jeff Jarrett at Slammiversary II. The win came in 20:44 by pinfall with a Pepsi Plunge. CM Punk makes defence number 1 of his NWA TNA World Heavyweight title. C

Having picked up the victory, CM Punk celebrates in the ring holding the World Championship belt above his head. C+

Show rating: C-

The show might have hurt TNA's popularity overall.

A number of angles did not reach the standard of the matches.
