PRE SHOW

In a match that had some good action and average heat, Christopher Daniels defeated Johnny Kashmere in 10:29 by pinfall with a Last Rites. The two didn't click. D

NUMBER ONE CONTENDERS MATCH

Brits Abroad v The Fringe

A solid enough opening contest where the Brits perhaps overperformed a little which led to a closely matched contest with a few near falls. It's The Fringe who earn their place in the Tag Team Championship match at Genesis as they won this in 9:20 when EZ Money defeated Desmond Wolfe by pinfall with a Money Clip. C-

NWA TNA TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP

Bumders (champions) v Double X (with Francine)

A woeful match due to a few factors. These teams have faced each other a few times recently which didn't help. Add to that a poor performance from Rocky Romero and Frankie Kazarian seemingly wishing he was already in Japan and the match completely fell apart. The end mercifully came in 9:49 when Buff 'The Puff' Bagwell defeated Frankie Kazarian by pinfall with a Hanging Around. Bumders make defence number 5 of their NWA TNA World Tag Team titles. A match the Bumders will want to forget though mostly it was not their fault. E

Following some on screen commentary from Mike Tenay and Potter, Buff Bagwell is in the back talking to camera. He says that match sucked and apologies to the fans and promises the match against The Fringe at Genesis will be much better... and they will walk out with the belts. C+

CM Punk v Ernest Miller (with Jimmy Hart)

Thankfully a million miles better than the Tag Team Championship match and one which saw Punk fighting like a man possessed. He really does believe and hold himself responsible for being the man to lead the fight to repel the WWE Invaders. He repelled Miller well, beating him in 11:47 by pinfall with a Pepsi Plunge. C-

Kevin Kelly is backstage with Sid Vicious, and he asks him what he meant on Impact when he says he wants to prove himself again. Sid says he wants to beat the top guys in TNA again. E+

NUMBER ONE CONTENDERS MATCH

Jose Maximo v Satoshi Kojima

A really good match between Maximo, who has been going from partner to partner barring a short and successful singles run and Kojima, who's brutal nature of his return a couple of weeks ago made everybody take notice. Kojima was brutal again here, although Maximo was able to withstand him for a while. Kojima's high level of brutality brought him results again and although Maximo was not in as bad a state as Mr Wrestling IV was a couple of Impacts back, Maximo did need some assistance to leave ringside. Kojima earned number one contendership in 12:24 by pinfall with a Lariat. Whoever wins out of Karagias and Lynn later has one bona fide tough opponent at Genesis. C+

Kevin Kelly is backstage with Ken Shamrock who says he wants Chris Harris to win tonight so he can take the title back off him that he cheated him out of. C-

NO DISQUALIFICATION MATCH

AJ Styles v D'Lo Brown (with Jimmy Hart)

A match where D'Lo bent the rules within the rules, given it was no disqualifications before AJ thought to hell with it and introduced weapons, which led to both men becoming bloody. The two then embarked on a chair duel, which had no winner as they laid each other out. While both men were on the canvas...

<iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/eeJMP-yDkFA" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Jeff Hardy comes running to the ring armed with a steel chair. The arena is almost silent. Some mark out big time for Hardy while a lot of fans are thinking "oh no not again another WWE Invader". Tenay and Potter mimic this on commentary, Potter even remarking "not more WWE bull****". Hardy slides in the ring as Styles and Brown struggle to their feet. Hardy looks like he is going to nail Styles with the chair, but then turns round and nails D'Lo with it instead. The crowd go insane, Tenay and Potter both shout "thank God" on commentary as Jeff Hardy climbs out of the ring and leaves through the crowd. D'Lo is out, Jeff Hardy is in TNA and AJ Styles picks up the scraps for victory in 16:06 by pinfall. C+

Following commentary from a very pleased Mike Tenay and Potter, D'Lo Brown has just arrived backstage and has got himself together a bit. He asks Jeff Hardy what that bull**** was, that they talked on Impact and he was going to be a key piece in the WWE Invasion of TNA. D'Lo tells Hardy there will be hell to pay from him and the rest of the WWE Invaders. C-

TNA X DIVISION CHAMPIONSHIP

Evan Karagias (champion) v Jerry Lynn (with Jimmy Hart)

Some great action in front of a warm crowd and Karagias walked out with perhaps the biggest win of his career over a wrestler as accomplished as Lynn. At times Karagias was out wrestling and out manoeuvring him but his prize is a title defence against the brutal Satoshi Kojima at Genesis. Still, he remains the X Division champion as he defeats Lynn in 16:45 by pinfall with a Tidal Wave. Evan Karagias makes defence number 3 of his TNA X Division title. C

Backstage and Kevin Kelly interviews Jeff Hardy. Kelly asks him why is he in TNA and why did he attack a WWE Invader. Hardy replies he has left WWE because they are going downhill and he wants to be where the future of wrestling lies but not with the WWE rejects. D-

NWA TNA WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP

'Wildcat' Chris Harris (champion) v Abyss (with Harley Race)

A solid main event and Harris' debut as both World Champion and main eventing a TNA pay per view. He performed well but the monstrous challenger and former champion caused him some major problems. No problem then when 'Cowboy' James Storm came out to level things up and take care of Abyss when he had his back turned. This led to Harris making a maiden defence thanks to his tag team partner in 20:28 by pinfall with a Catatonic, though looking at Harris' reaction after the match he didn't look too pleased with the help he got. 'Wildcat' Chris Harris makes defence number 1 of his NWA TNA World Heavyweight title. C

though one of these days a champ may make a quick transition, I hope Wildcat will get a chance to see what he can do on top.

Fringe has really been impressive of late - title as a reward could be nice. Genesis should give us the start of something new. Bagwell will be back soon enough

Karagias continues to give good matches at this level and deserves a long run with the belt. Kojima could provide a super match with him

what's this rumor going around that the Creative of TNA saw where Wildcat Chris Harris won the world title here in TEW land and used that as last minute inspiration to put the strap on James Storm instead of Robert Roode (who they had been building up in major way)?

no matter, it is quite interesting to see Real Life following in the footsteps of one of our Diaries instead of always the other way around. Good job Nobby!

I'm back from holiday...

Impact Preview

'Wildcat' Chris Harris overcame his first big obstacle as World Champion by defeating Abyss, thanks to assistance from this America's Most Wanted tag team partner, 'Cowboy' James Storm, though Harris didn't look too pleased with the help. His next challenger is lined up for Genesis, and Harris and Ken Shamrock will sign the contract on Impact.

Speaking of Abyss, what next for Harley Race's monster now he is out of the title picture?

Jeff Hardy made a shocking arrival in TNA on Explosion, going against the trend of former WWE stars siding with Jimmy Hart's WWE Invasion. Rest assured Hart and the Invasion, especially D'Lo Brown won't be taking this lying down.

Saturday night on Spike TV to see it all.

PRE SHOW

In a bout that had solid in-ring action but not much in the way of heat, Ultimo Guerrero defeated Robert Roode in 8:14 by pinfall with a Reverse Superplex. C

Impact

Saturday, week 2, January 2005

Lyndonville State Fairgrounds, Lyndonville, VT.

Live on Spike TV

'Wildcat' Chris Harris, the NWA TNA World Champion is in the ring, and makes a plea to his America's Most Wanted tag team partner, 'Cowboy' James Storm to let him fight the single battles alone. He wants to prove to himself and the world that he can be the best.

Harris is interrupted. Not by Storm but by Ken Shamrock, his challenger at Genesis. Shamrock is sharp and brief, he tells Harris "not to pull that crap with me" and he will see him later at the contract signing. C

Johnny Kashmere v The Miz (with Jimmy Hart)

A very entertaining opening contest which featured some really good action. The Miz is raw but shows he has potential, and pulled off perhaps a bit of an upset in overcoming his more accomplished opponent cleanly in 6:40 by pinfall with a Mizard of Oz. C

Ernest Miller cuts a promo on Jose Maximo, telling him he has a lot of lessons to learn and that for turning his back on Miller and not following his right path, Maximo is going to become Invasion's bitch. C-

Kevin Kelly then interviews Satoshi Kojima who says that this time around, he is not here to help Japan win a cup, he is here for himself and he will take the X Division Championship from Evan Karagias. Kojima came across as mean spirited and focused. C+

Doug Williams & Full Blooded Italians v Latin American Exchange

A disappointing contest as looking at some of the wrestlers involved, the action should have been a lot better than it was. Corino completed his heel turn in the match, by siding with LAX and going after the liked FBI and Williams. His turned is seen as a very good mood. He also took the spoils for his team in 9:30 when Steve Corino defeated Little Guido by pinfall with an Old School Expulsion. D+

Backstage and CM Punk is verbally threatening Jimmy Hart, saying he will take out his WWE boys one by one if he has to to stop the WWE from taking over TNA... and he will start with Teddy Hart. C+

Prior to the next match, Bumders and The Fringe's EZ Money and Mike Sanders have a verbal altercation where each say they will walk out of Genesis as the Tag Team Champions. One thing of note, Buff and Monty have attached pink ribbons to the championship belts. C

Bumders (Tag Team Champions) & Arashi Assassins v The Fringe (Aries/Money/Kash/Sanders)

Another disappointing many person tag, with the fans beginning to lose interest The Fringe took the bout in 9:41 when EZ Money defeated Devon Storm by pinfall with a Money Clip. D+

Harley Race is in the ring with his monster Abyss, saying the former World Champion is going to come back and leave another trail of destruction on his way to the World Championship again. Sid Vicious comes out, he stands toe to toe, face to face with Abyss and says he has things to prove as well and suggests the meet at Genesis. Race says yes. C+

D'Lo Brown was in the ring cutting a promo on Jeff Hardy prior to his TV Title defence against Jose Maximo. He rips into Hardy, saying he will pay for what he did on Explosion. Hardy comes out and says he is not interested in WWE or any dumb ass Invasion in TNA. C-

TNA TV TITLE

D'Lo Brown (champion, with Jimmy Hart) v Jose Maximo

Brown is mad, and sticks the boots into Maximo so much that Patrick Hernandez threatens to disqualify him. Maximo is resilient and comes back and D'Lo and looks to have a three count only for Jimmy Hart to place D'Lo's foot on the bottom rope. Maximo complained to Hernandez, which led to D'Lo attacking from behind and from this he took the match in 12:21 by pinfall with a Low Down. D'Lo Brown makes defence number 3 of his TNA TV title. C

Dusty Rhodes is in the ring with a table and two chairs set up, and he is holding a contract for the Championship match at Genesis. He first introduces Ken Shamrock and then the champion 'Wildcat' Chris Harris. They take turns to say that they will be champion at Genesis and they will kick the others ass before the sign the contract. Once signed, Shamrock attacks and places Harris in the Ankle Lock. Shamrock is shouting "Where is Cowboy now?" as Harris is tapping. Shamrock lets go to a chorus of boos. C-

AJ Styles & CM Punk v Jerry Lynn & Teddy Hart (with Jimmy Hart)

New Dawn v WWE Invaders and a very solid main event and easily the best action of the night. Punk was particularly focused in this as he appears to have made it his mission to repel the WWE Invasion, as in his eyes nobody else in TNA appears to be doing anything about it. This match will have gone a tiny way towards that as CM Punk picked up the win for his New Dawn in 16:30 when CM Punk defeated Teddy Hart by pinfall with a Pepsi Plunge. B-

Show rating: C

The show can be considered a success and should increase TNA's popularity.

A number of angles did not reach the standard of the ring action.

Attendance: 2876

Rating: 0.76

Loss: $63,921

AJ Styles & CM Punk v Jerry Lynn & Teddy Hart is TNA's 7th best match in history.

Impact Preview

Genesis is only one day away and Ken Shamrock appears to be in the World Champion's head. Shamrock left 'Wildcat' Chris Harris laying after the contract signing last week, telling him he doesn't believe that Harris doesn't want 'Cowboy' James Storm's help and mocking him when he had no help during Shamrock's attack. Will America's Most Wanted work together tonight or will Harris' insistance at fighting this battle alone cost him?

Dusty Rhodes has an announcement for Ernest Miller and Jose Maximo.

Will anyone back down in the stand off between Abyss and Sid Vicious?

Tune in to Spike TV on Saturday night.
