TNA's New Beginnings II

Recommended Posts

Well I really would not want to see the World Title defended in a Bar Room Brawl match but by the votes so far it looks like that is what it will end up being. I am also not crazy about a Street Fight either but that is the only one that has a slight chance so I will put all of my points on the Street Fight.

NWA TNA WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP - 'Wildcat' Chris Harris (champion) v Abyss

NWA TNA TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP - WWE Invaders (Teddy Hart & The Miz, champions) v Full Blooded Italians (Little Guido & Tony Mamaluke)

TNA X DIVISION CHAMPIONSHIP - Satoshi Kojima (champion) v Jose Maximo

TNA TV TITLE - Mr Wrestling IV (champion) v D'Lo Brown

The Amazing Red v Ultimo Guerrero

BHK's right. Can I switch my votes?

In a bout that had solid in-ring action but not much in the way of heat, Mike Quackenbush defeated Pac in 6:12 by pinfall with a Quackendriver. D

Live on Spike TV

Dusty Rhodes comes to the ring. He thanks everybody at Spike TV for their support for TNA over the past couple of years and he says TNA aims to go out with a bang. To do so, he has booked for every TNA championship to be defended. Tonight. C

The Amazing Red v Ultimo Guerrero

The action starts with the only match of the evening that isn't for a championship and it was a high quality opener featuring two wrestlers in Ultimate X and two of the most exciting wrestlers to watch in the X Division. A fairly quiet crowd was livened by some of the action and it was Red who had his arms raised in 10:04 by pinfall with a Code Red. C+

Kevin Kelly interviews AJ Styles backstage. AJ says that the X Division is about ability and excitement over style and he will show this to Satoshi Kojima at Destination X when he captures the X Division Championship. C+

Next we see Jeff Hardy. He welcomes back Air Paris to TNA, saying that on his return at Destination X the people will see what two great athletes Paris and Hardy are. D+

NWA TNA TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP

WWE Invaders (champions, with Jimmy Hart) v Full Blooded Italians

A while back, the FBI were on such a roll they were considered a serious threat to the then Tag Team Champions. Since then, they have dropped off significantly, with Tony Mamaluke in particular being off form. Here, they were a much tougher challenge for Jimmy Hart's men than expected and certainly gave them a run for their money. They didn't have enough though and the champs prevailed in 8:27 when The Miz defeated Tony Mamaluke by pinfall with a Reality Check. WWE Invaders make defence number 2 of their NWA TNA World Tag Team titles. C

The World Champion, 'Wildcat' Chris Harris talks about his upcoming title defence against 'Cowboy' James Storm at Destination X. He promises he will hurt Storm, not only for not respecting his wishes to defend the title with honour and pride by himself, but also for the vicious assault following his title defence at Against All Odds. He promises Storm's blood. C

Buff 'The Puff' Bagwell speaks out publicly at his depression at losing not only his cherished pink ribbons that he used to adorn the Tag Team Championship belts but also the championship themselves. Buff says his life would be completely empty if it weren't for 'The Big Black Love Muscle' Monty Brown. Buff wells up as well as the 'girly' section of the crowd, male and female.

Bryan Danielson comes out and is mocks Buff, wiping fake tears away. Danielson tells Buff to man up because if he doesn't, Destination X will be short and painful for him. C+

TNA TV TITLE

Mr Wrestling IV (champion) v D'Lo Brown (with Jimmy Hart)

A very good rematch and one as close as the first contest when IV won the title from Brown. As great as the action was, the crowd were really into it and it helped to elevate the match. Much like the first encounter, IV just about edged it and he defended in 9:49 by pinfall with a Sudan Elbow Drop. Mr Wrestling IV makes defence number 2 of his TNA TV title. C+

CM Punk comes to the ring. He says he now understands why Dusty Rhodes has booked him against Ken Shamrock. Shamrock had a long and successful spell in WWE and Rhodes wants Punk to test out Shamrock that he is not going to join the WWE Invasion and that he is TNA through and through. Shamrock comes out and tells Punk he is talking crap. Shamrock isn't playing around and just wants to become a three time champion. C

Jorge Estrada cuts a promo backstage regarding Ultimate X. He says he will be the man to take down the X and receive a X Division Championship match. C-

TNA X DIVISION CHAMPIONSHIP

Satoshi Kojima (champion) v Jose Maximo

Speaking of the X Division Championship, the very impressive and outspoken Kojima took on Maximo in a very good title match in front of a hot crowd. Maximo was making a very good account for himself only for his brother Joel to come to ringside. While Joel didn't physically get involved, his presence was enough to distract Jose. Kojima capitalised on Jose being sidetracked and defended in 11:51 by pinfall with a Lariat after a distraction from Joel Maximo. Satoshi Kojima makes defence number 3 of his TNA X Division title. C+

Jimmy Hart comes out with Sid Vicious. Hart says he saw a broken man and saved him. He has turned Sid back round to the imposing giant he once was and he will be the one to solve problems and bust heads for the WWE Invasion. C+

Satoshi Kojima speaks from the locker room following his successful title defence. He says he heard what AJ had to say earlier and tells him he won't be able to stop Kojima turning the X Division on it's head. The X Division will become a division where the best fighter, the best wrestler will win, not the best flyer or acrobat. B-

NWA TNA WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP

'Wildcat' Chris Harris (champion) v Abyss (with Harley Race)

Harris is getting more impressive as a champion by the week. His ring work is picking up considerably, as is his popularity with the fans. With 'Cowboy' James Storm now an enemy and not a friend, there is also no chance of getting assistance from him. Free to concentrate on the task at hand, Harris systematically approached the match with Abyss and while Abyss was able to use his bulk and power to good effect, the champion wrestled an astute match in his most impressive title defence to date, gaining a clean win and putting to bed Abyss' challenge and Race's claims at not getting a clean shot at the title. If he can defeat Storm at Destination X, can he do the same to Shamrock and put him metaphorically to bed to? The match ended in 18:51 by pinfall with a Catatonic. 'Wildcat' Chris Harris makes defence number 5 of his NWA TNA World Heavyweight title. C

NWA TNA TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP

WWE Invaders (champions, with Jimmy Hart) v New Dawn

The ongoing battle between WWE Invaders and New Dawn continues, although CM Punk has largely been fighting for New Dawn and indeed TNA as a whole on his own although AJ Styles has been winning some matches against WWE Invaders. Here, Jose Maximo and The Amazing Red failed to follow up their win against other WWE Invaders Ernest Miller and Joel Maximo last month when despite a poor showing from The Miz, the champions defended in 8:45 when The Miz defeated The Amazing Red by pinfall with a Mizard of Oz. WWE Invaders make defence number 3 of their NWA TNA World Tag Team titles. D+

Kevin Kelly interviews Ernest Miller, who suggests there is "much more to come" from the WWE Invaders. E+

Buff 'The Puff' Bagwell v 'Cowboy' James Storm

A considerably better match than the opener where Storm was stern faced and pretty brutal and nasty. Buff ended up cowering at times and cried at one point, calling for his pink ribbons, the Tag Team Championship and his "big black love muscle" Monty Brown. Storm showed no mercy and wrapped it up in 12:10 by pinfall while using the ropes for leverage. Buff cried again after the match until Monty Brown came down to comfort him. C

CM Punk and Ken Shamrock engage in a war of words over their Destination X match. Shamrock tells Punk he is focused on one thing - winning the title for a third time and not the WWE Invasion. Punk can think all he likes, "I'm not one of them". C-

Abyss (with Harley Race) v Jeff Hardy

The two simply didn't gel together in the ring and it led to a disappointing contest where so much more was hoped. Abyss gradually wore down the unorthodox Hardy and took the bout in 12:37 by pinfall with The Black Hole. D+

Bryan Danielson cuts a promo from backstage. He shows no concern for Buff Bagwell's mental state, saying it is none of his business and that he is very confident of victory at Destination X. C

AJ Styles v Steve Corino

Easily the best action of the night so far as some great action between Corino and Styles finally got the crowd into the action. Corino grounded Styles for long periods of the match but AJ's greater speed proved the difference in the end as he used it to propel himself to victory in 13:49 by pinfall with a Styles Clash. C+

http://t1.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcQsCHSUEEaLUwteAuJvoeawCK7e29mOWY3tF_woa1s4ks-bhqN6Yg

NWA TNA WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP

'Wildcat' Chris Harris (champion) v D'Lo Brown (with Jimmy Hart)

A solid World Championship match where the challenger was a little cocky, but then that is D'Lo's nature. Harris stopped him once when D'Lo was doing his head waggle only for Harris to punch him in the face while he was doing it, which sent Jimmy Hart wild and the crowd roaring. D'Lo was more serious after that but Harris rode his offence and defended the belt in 19:30 by pinfall with a Catatonic. 'Wildcat' Chris Harris makes defence number 6 of his NWA TNA World Heavyweight title. C

Mr Wrestling expresses his complete delight at claiming his first championship, the TNA TV Title, recently. C+

Evan Karagias v Sid Vicious (with Jimmy Hart)

The two shared good chemistry, not that it was easy to tell as for most of the match Sid just tossed Karagias around like a doll, utilising the size and strength difference to full advantage. As a result, Karagias never really got going and the match mercifully ended in 7:15 by pinfall with a Powerbomb. C-

http://t3.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcRDBMSQ0_iTO7VvB3vnNp1PvZHbryqaECz942G_joAC98-E16CZHA

TNA X DIVISION CHAMPIONSHIP

Satoshi Kojima (champion) v Desmond Wolfe

A bold move putting Wolfe and the X Division Championship as the main event? Yes. Did it work? Certainly. The two put on a terrific contest and it was evident they work extremely well together. The match went on for some time, probably the longest X Division match in TNA history and the crowd were lapping it up. Kojima also had a challenge he wanted, a fighter and a wrestler and not a high flyer. Kojima proved at least on this night he was the better wrestler, though Wolfe gave a very good account of himself and Kojima acknowledged this by shaking Wolfe's hand after the match in a surprising show of sportsmanship which was appreciated in The Super Pit. Kojima's win came in 23:11 by pinfall with a Lariat. Satoshi Kojima makes defence number 4 of his TNA X Division title. B-

Impact Preview

Impact moves to Spike and the X Division is taking center stage in the build up to Destination X which is juust under two weeks away.

Satoshi Kojima is trying to usher in an X Division era where fighting and wrestling ability matters over flash and flamboyance. This past week he edged out Desmond Wolfe in the X Division's longest and arguably best ever match. Next up is AJ Styles at the big X Division pay per view but AJ has an exciting mix of flamboyance and wrestling ability. Will he derail Kojima's train or will the 'Era of Kojima' come in full force? They will be first on Spike's Impact on Monday night.

Also on the show, Buff 'The Puff' Bagwell will confront Bryan Danielson following numerous complaints TNA have received that Danielson has been bullying Bagwell since he lost the Tag Team Championship and his treasured pink ribbons.

Tune in on Monday night on Spike to see the action.

TNA X DIVISION CHAMPIONSHIP

Satoshi Kojima (champion) v AJ Styles (C+)

I'll echo others who are just not feeling Kojima. Sure he can deliver good athletic matches, but would the TNA fans buy him as champ. I expect he and AJ will steal the show, and the Era of Styles begins.

NWA TNA WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP

FANS PICK THE MATCH (see below)

should be an entertaining brawl

ULTIMATE X

WINNER BECOMES NUMBER ONE CONTENDER

Caprice Coleman v Evan Karagias v 'Fallen Angel' Christopher Daniels v Jorge Estrada v The Amazing Red v Ultimo Guerrero (D+)

He was highly regarded and needs a big splash to make a name for himself in TNA

BROTHER v BROTHER

Joel Maximo v Jose Maximo (D)

Bryan Danielson v Buff 'The Puff' Bagwell ©

I feel sorry for Buff right now, losing his pink ribbons and all. He'll bounce back though

AK-47 (Austin Aries & Kid Kash) v Brits Abroad (Chris Hero & Desmond Wolfe) (D)

Doug Williams v Jerry Lynn (D)

AIR PARIS RETURNS

Air Paris v Jeff Hardy (D)

Sure, Hardy is the big name druggie but Paris has done a great job for you in TNA so hopefully he gets some rewards. These two could actually become a good tag team down the road?

CM Punk v Ken Shamrock (C-)

Shamrock is a 2-time champ who really hasn't delivered for you on the big stage. Could be a good time for him to start putting over some younger guys. A win here could go a long way to elevating the New Dawn to the next level
