TNA's New Beginnings II

Impact Preview

The final Impact before Lockdown comes from Battle Creek.

Almost all the pieces are in place for Lethal Lockdown. In ring captains CM Punk and D'Lo Brown square off to determine which team gets the man advantage. Will Punk manage to get out of Jimmy Hart who the Invaders' fourth man will be?

Satoshi Kojima is said to have an offer to AJ Styles that AJ "can't refuse".

The Easter Sacrifice vignettes got darker and more sinister last week with three unclear sacrifices being visualized on screen. Will any more information be forthcoming?

Spike on Monday night is where to catch the action.

PRE SHOW

In a match that had some good action and average heat, Billy Kidman defeated Prince Nana in 5:39 by pinfall with a Moonsault. C+

Impact

Sunday, week 2, April 2005

Broadcast on Monday, week 3, April 2005 on Spike

Kellogg Arena, Battle Creek, MI.

http://t1.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcQk-_2gcGxpyGIfZ3AU7iWEaMD7JzHCGs_mN1d91qLUy56tWd3lng

Satoshi Kojima is in the ring to start Impact and asks AJ Styles to come to the ring as he has an offer for him that he can't refuse. Out comes the X Division champion and AJ tells Kojima to go ahead. Kojima tells AJ they should battle for the X Division. Kojima says that when I win I gain control of the X Division and pick and choose who fights in it. AJ tells Kojima to tell him what will happen when he retains his title. Kojima replies by saying that if by some minor miracle AJ wins, then Kojima will leave the X Division. AJ thinks for a few seconds and tells Kojima he's got a deal. B-

Mr Wrestling IV is backstage, saying he is looking forward to defending his title tonight against EZ Money. Harley Race enters the scene and asks IV if he is looking forward to facing Abyss. IV says he is. Race questions his wisdom as Abyss grabs IV and throws him into the wall. IV is left in a bad way only an hour or so before his next TV Title defence. C

AK-47 v Young Bucks

The opening contest saw the Bucks make their second straight Impact appearance in an affair that was solid enough in the ring but was done before a dead crowd. Bucks were second best as AK-47 picked their first win in some weeks in 5:43 when Austin Aries defeated Matt Buck by pinfall with a 450° splash. D

Mike Sanders comes across Dusty Rhodes in the backstage area. He tells Rhodes that The Fringe will become names in TNA. Dusty says good, but he also wants them to do it the right way. C+

Beer Money v Full Blooded Italians

Beer Money are looking better together by the week as they put in their most impressive performance so far to dispatch the Italians with some in reserve. Their fairly comfortable victory came in in 7:55 when Robert Roode defeated Little Guido by pinfall with a Drinking While Investing. C-

Kevin Kelly interviews Bryan Danielson backstage, who says he will rip apart Jeff Hardy at Lockdown. C

The cameras are then seen backstage, where EZ Money has been laid out on the concrete. It's not evident who has done it, but other members of The Fringe as well as TNA officials Ricky Steamboat and Arn Anderson rush to the scene. Money is bleeding and barely conscious. Paramedics arrive on scene and stretcher him away. A weakened TV champion following Abyss' attack earlier now has no challenger tonight. C

Desmond Wolfe v Jorge Estrada

A good match ended in chaos when both Chris Hero and Hernandez both interfered in the match as Jack Doan was losing all control. Hernandez' interference counted more as it led to Estrada earning the win in 11:23 by pinfall with a Greetings from Graceland. C+

The Miz is taunting Buff 'The Puff' Bagwell backstage for being homosexual. However, with no Jerry Lynn or Jimmy Hart with him, he soon back tracks when 'Big Black Love Muscle' Monty Brown appears and Miz leaves quickly. C-

Ken Shamrock speaks out on 'Wildcat' Chris Harris, saying that Shamrock is the better champion and will prove that at Lockdown when he takes the NWA TNA World Championship for a third time. C+

TNA TV TITLE

Mr Wrestling IV (champion) v EZ Money

IV hobbles to the ring for the scheduled title match and as expected, EZ Money does not come to the ring when his music plays. It plays a second time and Money does not appear. The music stops and Robert Brisko is about to give the match to IV by forfeit when Jimmy Hart's music hits. He tells IV that he has managed to find a replacement for EZ Money to challenge for the title. IV is not happy, you can tell by him shaking his head. What right does Jimmy Hart have to find a new challenger?

<iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/FZT0d7WtbDc" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

The arena is stunned into silence. Even Mike Tenay and Potter are lost for words on commentary. Potter eventually manages to come up with "This is bad".

TNA TV TITLE

Mr Wrestling IV (champion) v Al Snow (with Jimmy Hart)

IV puts up a brave fight but in his weakened state following the Abyss attack earlier in the night and not even knowing Al Snow was in TNA, never mind that he would be wrestling him, it was a fight too big. Snow wins his first TNA title in his first TNA match as the Jimmy Hart and the WWE Invasion strikes again. Snow's win is in 13:38 by pinfall with a Snow Plow. Al Snow wins the TNA TV title. Hart is cackling loudly at ringside as Snow holds the title aloft, and says that "this is just the start of something massive". B-

Backstage and CM Punk is reeling from what he has just witnessed on the monitor. He knows the WWE Invasion has just struck another blow against TNA and they have got stronger and he knows that his New Dawn have to stand up and be counted at Lockdown. D'Lo Brown then walks up to him and only moments before their main event, tells Punk he should expect an even bigger surprise at Lockdown. C

WINNER EARNS HIS TEAM THE MAN ADVANTAGE AT LETHAL LOCKDOWN

CM Punk v D'Lo Brown (with Jimmy Hart)

Hart is still laughing as the main event begins and D'Lo has all the early offence. Punk pulls himself together and fights back with such a strong determination that it's more than even Punk has ever shown before. He proceeds to batter Brown all over the ring and Hart's laugh turns to one of horror as Brown gets pummelled, with Punk winning the important match in 19:52 by pinfall with a Pepsi Plunge. B-

Punk has a somewhat muted celebration in the ring cut short by the lights dimming to near darkness. On the video screen comes the same dark, vaguely familiar shaven headed figure seen in the disturbing Easter sacrifice vignette last week. The figure is brandishing a machete and has a man in a hood tied up beneath him. Again a voice says that this Easter weekend TNA will see a sacrifice. The shaven headed man swings the machete at the neck of the hooded man, and the screen goes black a split second before a loud scream is heard and all goes quiet. Punk and everybody in the arena is stunned silent, with many people heaving at what they have just witnessed. As Impact goes off the air, a few are heard vomiting. B-

Show rating: C+

The show can be considered a success and should increase TNA's popularity.

A number of angles did not reach the standard of the ring action.

Attendance: 3270

Loss: $60,221

Impact is TNA's fifth best ever show.

Mr Wrestling IV v Al Snow is TNA's ninth best ever match.

NWA TNA WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP

'Wildcat' Chris Harris (champion) v Ken Shamrock (C heat)

Harris has ushered in the most successful run TNA has ever had. His reward should be a high profile victory over the 2-time champ. Something in my gut says Shamrock will get his title back, but not sure he deserves to. with a loss here, Ken would have to do something spectacular to get back in the title picture - and that could be fun to watch unfold

NWA TNA TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP

WWE Invaders (Jerry Lynn & The Miz, champions) v Bumders (Buff 'The Puff' Bagwell & 'Big Black Love Muscle' Monty Brown (D+)

I agree with the earlier comment that the Bumders have pretty much run their course. I think this will be thier last hurrah together - one last time with pink ribbons on the belts before transferring them over to a different invader team (Snow and ??) and then going their seperate ways. maybe Roger can make a return to help them win, and be instrumental in their split as well. (what starts as a "feel good story" ends with a soap opera finish; almost like Elizabeth and Randy Savage)

TNA X DIVISION CHAMPIONSHIP

AJ Styles (champion) v Satoshi Kojima (C+)

interesting concept of Punk joining the invasion - but also good having him fight against them. Looking the Invader team to win, and two of them to move on to challenge the new tag champs.

Bryan Danielson v Jeff Hardy ©

Abyss v Mr Wrestling IV ©

Brits Abroad v Latin American Exchange (D+)

Double R v Full Blooded Italians (D-)

exciting new team

Beer Money v Pride of Britain (D)

not so sure Beer Money is ready for prime time yet,

X DIVISION ESCAPE MATCH

Air Paris v Billy Kidman v 'Fallen Angel' Christopher Daniels v The Amazing Red (D)

Kidman is a big name star and would be a great match to watch against AJ Styles. Should get a couple good feuds to emerge out of this match!

PRE SHOW

In a bout that had solid in-ring action but not much in the way of heat, Vampiro defeated Alex Shelley in 7:09 by pinfall with a Nail in the Coffin. C-

All matches held inside the steel cage.

Double R v Full Blooded Italians

Despite Rocky Romero being off his game, this was a stellar opening contest that everyone backstage will hope will set the night up for TNA's best night. Also despite Rocky's underperformance, the relatively new duo of Rocky and Roderick took the contest in 8:05 when Roderick Strong defeated Little Guido by submission with a Stronghold. C+

XSCAPE MATCH

Air Paris v Billy Kidman v 'Fallen Angel' Christopher Daniels v The Amazing Red

A superb match full of high flying, exciting action. The quality on show in this match is sure to elevate all four men, especially the winner. After numerous attempts to try and escape from all wrestlers, and Daniels getting backdropped off the top of the cage into the ring, it was Paris who touched the floor first, climbing out in 13:28. B-

Mike Tenay and Potter are seen on commentary and announce that Satoshi Kojima has not been able to make it to Boston for Lockdown. They say they are awaiting word from TNA Director of Authority Dusty Rhodes as to what will happen regarding AJ Styles' scheduled X Division Championship defence. B-

Beer Money v Pride of Britain

A big drop down following the first two quality matchs, and perhaps a slight surprise as Beer Money lose their first match together in 7:07 when Doug Williams defeated Robert Roode by pinfall with a Crowning Glory. D+

Brits Abroad v Latin American Exchange

Considerably better and the other British pairing make it two out of two for Blighty. An impressive performance from the improving Chris Hero and Desmond Wolfe see them put away Hernandez and Jorge Estrada in 11:13 when Desmond Wolfe defeated Hernandez by pinfall with a Guvnor's Crumpet. C

D'Lo Brown is backstage with Jimmy Hart and they promise tonight will be a night that the wrestling world will never forget, before laughing rather evilly. C

Bryan Danielson v Jeff Hardy

A great mix of technical wrestling and risk taking, Danielson came on top to score a huge win. Hardy was left disappointed and in pain when Danielson scored in 11:40 by submission with an Arms Across America. B-

NWA TNA TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP

WWE Invaders (champions, with Jimmy Hart) v Bumders

A match that was a bit disappointing, being overshadowed by the lesser lights of the tag team division earlier in the night. Buff showed little of his recent bouts of depression and the former champions were clearly on top.

<iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/W_RCyQlsFHM" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

The world is shocked as the bizarre one himself appears.

http://t1.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcS3_OhiwI-4GbqdOkAtIhuKDYWf-t1LcyLtumGptXwyz_dVfX53fg

Jimmy Hart distracts Mickey Jay as Goldust enters the ring. He grabs Buff 'The Puff' Bagwell in a crotch lock and when 'Big Black Love Muscle' Monty Brown runs to try and save Buff, Goldust kicks him square in his balls. Monty falls in a heap, Goldust leaves the ring and the champs retain in 12:38 when The Miz defeated Buff 'The Puff' Bagwell by pinfall with a Reality Check. WWE Invaders make defence number 6 of their NWA TNA World Tag Team titles. C-

Dusty Rhodes is backstage with AJ Styles. He tells AJ he has an opponent for him tonight, a man that TNA has only signed in the last couple of days. AJ asks who and Dusty says Maven. AJ stares at Dusty in disbelief, asking why he has signed a former WWE star. Dusty says not to worry, Maven is not one of the Invaders, he is here as a wrestler and not an Invader. AJ is skeptical. C+

Abyss (with Harley Race) v Mr Wrestling IV

A dismal match which went on for too long given how poor it was, especially considering it was a former World Champion versus a former TV Champion. Abyss' victory will not be the one he will celebrate the most and he took it in 14:58 by pinfall with The Black Hole. D+

As we wait for the match between 'Wildcat' Chris Harris and Ken Shamrock to commence, Tenay and Potter run us through the Tale Of The Tape. C-

http://t1.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcQsCHSUEEaLUwteAuJvoeawCK7e29mOWY3tF_woa1s4ks-bhqN6Yg

NWA TNA WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP

'Wildcat' Chris Harris (champion) v Ken Shamrock

A decent match and one that Shamrock fought with focus and intensity. It shows how far Harris has come in four months when he was able to withstand every Shamrock could throw at him, included the dreaded Ankle Lock. Shamrock as a result grew frustrated and Harris took advantage of Shamrock's change in demeanour and put to bed any remaining doubters that he is deserving of being World Champion. His win came in 18:38 by pinfall with a Catatonic. 'Wildcat' Chris Harris makes defence number 9 of his NWA TNA World Heavyweight title. C

http://t3.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcRDBMSQ0_iTO7VvB3vnNp1PvZHbryqaECz942G_joAC98-E16CZHA

TNA X DIVISION CHAMPIONSHIP

AJ Styles (champion) v Maven

The crowd were unsure how to take to the debuting Maven given how many WWE stars have entered TNA as Invaders. Maven acted neutral throughout and gave AJ a very good match and came close to winning the title. AJ managed to pull through despite having around an hour's notice as to who his opponent is by taking it in 21:24 by pinfall with a Styles Clash. AJ Styles makes defence number 2 of his TNA X Division title. C+

CM Punk has his New Dawn with him. He gives them a final pep talk, saying tonight might be the night to decide the whole future of TNA. C

LETHAL LOCKDOWN

New Dawn (CM Punk, Caprice Coleman, Evan Karagias & Jose Maximo v WWE Invaders (D'Lo Brown, Ernest Miller, Joel Maximo & mystery partner, with Jimmy Hart)

Interestingly, both teams decided to go with the Maximos to start the match, so we were treated to brother versus brother for the opening five minutes. It was intense and physical, and both brother made the other bleed by utilising the cage. The clock counted down and New Dawn's numerical advantage starts with the arrival of Caprice Coleman. The numbers count as they dominate Joel Maximo for two minutes before Ernest Miller charges the ring and even things up. Miller fights off his opponents and the contest evens back up. The Maximos begin to toil having been in the ring for nine minutes as Evan Karagias runs to the ring and goes aerial. The Invaders are on the backfoot again but put up a struggle before D'Lo Brown, their in ring captain comes to the save. The Invaders gain the upper hand before the New Dawn leader, CM Punk enters. He nails a GTS on D'Lo and a Pepsi Plunge on Miller and Maximo over the next two minutes. The Invasion is looking in trouble as the clock counts down to zero for their mystery partner...

The arena is expectant as Punk stands mid ring, primed and ready...

<iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/iXU7f_hY41Y" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Jeff Jarrett is back in TNA!

Jarrett takes his time getting to the ring, to allow the other WWE Invaders to recover a little from Punk's onslaught. Jarrett finally climbs into the ring, and calls for the roof to lower. Lights dim, music plays and the roof dramatically lowers to the the cage. It drops and eight men retrieve various weapons, and New Dawn come on top in the war of weapons. New Dawn are looking very good at this point and look like finally winning the battle for TNA against the WWE Invaders.

<iframe width="425" height="349" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/63gdZAsl62E" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

New Dawn and the arena wonder what's going on. Then there are gasps of disbelief as WWE Invaders' numbers clearly grow substantially.

Al Snow, Goldust, Matt Hardy, Bubba Ray and Devon Dudley, Christian Cage and John Layfield all make their way to the ring. Jack Doan, manning the cage door, rather than be imtimidated, smiles and hands the cage door key to John Layfield. Layfield unlocks the door, they all climb in and Layfield locks it again. New Dawn have gone from having a big advantage in four on four to being outnumbered by eleven to four. They stand in the middle of the ring, circled by their Invaders. Punk lets out a battle cry and given they can't escape, take the fight to the Invaders. They are quickly beat down, with the Invaders having a seven man advantage and weapons, New Dawn succumb. Then things get sick and disturbing.

Matt Hardy grabs the match referee Robert Brisko and throws him into the cage, taking him out of action. The Dudleys take three pairs of handcuffs and the group handcuff Caprice Coleman, Evan Karagias and Jose Maximo to the cage. The Invaders then take turns to take vicious weapon shots at the three while the four members of the actual match (D'Lo, Joel, Miller and Jarrett) hold Punk and force him to watch. He yells for them to stop, and eventually the Invaders do with Karagias, Coleman and Jose cuffed and barely moving. They turn their attention to Punk and it is now eleven to one. The arena lights dim and a voice booms out... it's Easter, there will be a sacrifice. A dark figure with a shaved head stands in the entrance way and he makes his way to the ring. The lights come back up and it's Maven. He is carrying a noose. Matt Hardy climbs on the turnbuckles as Maven places the noose around Punk's neck. Punk looks resigned to his fate. With his team mates all out of commission, and now twelve men standing before him, he nows this is the end. Many in the crowd can't look and both Mike Tenay and Potter put down their headseats as the WWE Invasion perform a public hanging of CM Punk. Punk is dangling in the air and is losing consciousness as the arena lights go out. With everything in darkness, the plug is pulled on the show and it goes off air without the usual TNA logo coming up to end the show. C

<p>Now that's what I call a "cliff hanger" of an ending <img alt=":D" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/biggrin.png.929299b4c121f473b0026f3d6e74d189.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p>

I'm sure the censors and critics are up in arms over the hanging. Maybe the fans in Boston never saw anything like that before. However, according to Blackjack Mulligan and Kevin Sullivan, the only place where a Hangman's Noose match is legal is Knoxville, TN (where they had a few as well as Florida).</p><p> </p><p>

Your Invader Army has grown leaps and bounds. What did you do? Sign their entire roster?? JUST Learn from the mistakes made in the original NWO angle.</p><p>

<strong>Nice Way to bring back Jeff Jarret though!!!</strong></p><p> </p><p>

Congrats to Wildcat Harris for his big win. He should have a few good possible challengers before becoming embroiled in the Invader angle (if that is in the cards). I could see him going thier weekly challenges one by one to set up the big showdowns against Snow, JBL and guessing the main one would be Jarrett just because of his history with the Company.....but each of the others could be built up as the biggest threat to his title (and the Company) in history just because of their reputations.</p>

Jeff Jarrett blocked even beginning negotiations with Steve Austin and Edge said we aren't big enough for him.</p>

Impact Preview

TNA moves to Raleigh on Sunday following the sickening events at Lockdown which saw New Dawn members Caprice Coleman, Evan Karagias and Jose Maximo seriously hurt and CM Punk sacrificed when he was hung in the ring in front of thousands in attendance and millions watching throughout North America on pay per view and in other countries through selected internet sites. The condition of the four men will be updated on the show.

During the horrific events, Jeff Jarrett returned to the company and the WWE Invasion grew exponentially bigger and stronger. Surely now they have serious stroke in TNA.

Finally, how will some of TNA's other wrestlers not involved in the sickening sacrifice react to what happened?

Tune in on Monday night on Spike to see Impact start the road to Sacrifice.
