hard to have a champion that does not even want to compete on the major PPV's. sayanora Kojima (he'll make a good jobber to the stars on the rise for televised shows). maybe a battle royal to name a challenger for Harris since his last 2 challengers bailed out. Not knowing everyone on the payroll, I think James Storm one more time (if they have not met the magical 3 times already) or Steve Corino would provide good match-ups with Harris. With Storm, it could be a cage match blow-off that many expected for lockdown. Unless you have another show before the PPV, it might be hard to get much heat on another opponent. Storm has that built in (Corino or ??? attack after could set him for next month). Otherwise, Harris could be like Ali and pick an underdog for the title match - give some young jabroni his big chance on PPV (Roderick Strong, Billy Kidman, ??? -- someone who should match up well and in need of the rub they could get by going toe to toe with the world champ).

not sold on this pairing as champs, but they are holding their own

Monty will be lost without Buff by his side, but he could have a surprise - maybe a new boy toy to help him against G-Dust

John Layfield v Mr Wrestling IV (C-)

Christian Cage, D'Lo Brown & Jeff Jarrett v The Fringe (EZ Money, Mike Quackenbush & Mike Sanders) (D+)

The Fringe can give the Invaders a setback here, pinning Dlo or Cage. I think that would set them up for a tag team title match which they truly deserve. They'd make a great gateway bridge to the Dudleys.

Impact Preview

Impact comes to Spike TV on Monday night from Kenniwick on Sunday.

Following Matt Hardy's walk out on TNA, 'Wildcat' Chris Harris has no challenger now for his World Championship at Sacrifice. TNA Director of Authority Dusty Rhodes has promised to address this on Impact.

The Fringe have answered Dusty's plea for help in saving TNA but so far are coming up short in both numbers and results to the WWE Invasion. Can they emerge from the shadows?

Finally, Satoshi Kojima has asked for some interview time.

The Miz (Tag Team champion) v Desmond Wolfe

D'Lo Brown & Jeff Jarrett v The Fringe (EZ Money & Mike Sanders)

PRE SHOW

In an awkward bout that had solid in-ring action but non-existent crowd heat, Super Crazy defeated Alex Shelley in 6:26 by pinfall with a Crazy Bomb. D+

Impact

Sunday, week 1, May 2005

Broadcast on Spike on Monday night, week 2, May 2005

Dusty Rhodes has the World Champion, 'Wildcat' Chris Harris in his TNA Director of Authority office. He apologises to the champion for all the confusion regarding his challenger at Sacrifice but Dusty is now confident he has found somebody that won't walk out of TNA or go to Japan for a bigger pay cheque. Harris asks who. Dusty replies "James Storm". Harris is happy, can he put to bed the rivalry with his former partner once and for all? C+

Backstage and Kevin Kelly is interviewing Maven, or at least trying to. Maven isn't saying anything and only does the throat cutting gesture when Kelly mentions his Sacrifice match against The Amazing Red. C+

AK-47 v Latin American Exchange

The night's first action saw a somewhat stodgy match where both teams failed to impress. The Fringe members were the ones with their arms raised in 8:40 when Austin Aries defeated Hernandez by pinfall with a 450° splash but they will need to be much better if they are to make any progress in halting the Invasion. D+

Dudleys are backstage, saying they are the best tag team in the world and they are in TNA to destroy TNA, starting with "those pikey Brits" at Sacrifice. C

Christian Cage speaks from the Invasion locker room, saying D'Lo and Jeff Jarrett will give The Fringe a taster of what to expect at Sacrifice tonight. C+

Abyss (with Harley Race) v Mike Quackenbush

The first match was much like the first in terms of the standard of it, and saw Abyss dominate the majority of the match, winning it fairly quickly in 5:30 by pinfall with The Black Hole. D+

Al Snow and Bryan Danielson have a verbal exchange. Danielson says he is standing up for what is right and for TNA. Snow says soon there won't be a TNA to stand up for and we will remain WWE Champion when they meet. C+

Back in the TNA Director of Authority's office, Dusty Rhodes thanks Mike Sanders and EZ Money for their help and support. He tells Sanders he will get more of the TNA boys to help their cause. He wishes them luck in their match against D'Lo Brown and Jeff Jarrett, which is next. C

D'Lo Brown & Jeff Jarrett v The Fringe

A huge step up in quality from the first two matches which is a huge relief for everyone behind the scenes. The Fringe have stepped up their game since starting their battle against the WWE Invaders but again they came up short against their more experienced opponents, losing in 13:23 when Jeff Jarrett defeated Mike Sanders by pinfall with The Stroke. C+

John Layfield cuts a promo on Mr Wrestling IV, calling him a coward because he hides behind a mask. He asks if he is a real man. C

AJ Styles cuts a promo where he says he will retain his X Division Championship over Ken Shamrock at Sacrifice. Shamrock interrupts, saying he'll make Styles tap and win his belt. C

The Miz (Tag Team Champion, with Jimmy Hart) v Desmond Wolfe

A key match to determine whether the Tag Team Champions or the challengers will carry the momentum heading into Sacrifice. The match was very good, with Wolfe's European technical style causing Miz trouble. Miz, with verbal help from Jimmy Hart managed to scrape through in 10:40 by pinfall with a Mizard of Oz. C+

Satoshi Kojima is in the ring and address the fans. He talks about his admiration for TNA's World Champion, Chris Harris, saying Harris has impressed him greatly since becoming champion. Kojima also says that while he enjoys wrestling in TNA, his heart is back home in Japan. C

We got back to the hospital which has been home to CM Punk since Lockdown. He is awake and being monitored by a doctor, although Punk seems unable to talk. Flanking them are the same two burly, armed security officers seen previously. C+

'Fallen Angel' Christopher Daniels v Goldust (with Jimmy Hart)

A main event that was not well received and probably should have been Miz v Wolfe in it's place. Goldust looked the better of the two through the match but his advantage was wiped out when 'Big Black Love Muscle' Monty Brown ran in, still angry at his perception that Goldust was the straw that broke the camel's back and caused Buff Bagwell to leave. Monty nailed Goldust with The Pounce, which caused Mickey Jay to award Goldust the match by disqualification in 17:19. D+

Show rating: C-

The show can be considered a success and should increase TNA's popularity.

Some of the angles helped to lift the show.

Backstage and 'Wildcat' Chris Harris and 'Cowboy' James Storm are brawling all over the backstage of the Macon Coliseum. After a good five minutes of back and forth brawling, security eventually wade in and break the champion and Sacrifice challenger up. B-

Backstage again and Curt Hennig tells Bryan Danielson that Sacrifice will be his one and only shot at winning the WWE Championship from Al Snow. D+

NWA TNA TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP

WWE Invaders (champions, with Jimmy Hart) v The Young Bucks

An easy match for the champions, Curt Hennig probably signed this one to be a tune up for the much tougher defence at Sacrifice. With the predictable nature and outcome of the match, the crowd was pretty dead and it was no suprise that the champions retained in 5:33 when Jerry Lynn defeated Matt Buck by pinfall with a TKO. WWE Invaders make defence number 10 of their NWA TNA World Tag Team titles. D

AJ Styles and Ken Shamrock get in a verbal duel about who is the better man and who will walk out of Sacrifice as the X Division Champion. They nearly come to blows but all the TNA referees manage to persuade them not to. C+

Dusty Rhodes has The Fringe in his office. He says he wants to give them incentive for Saturday and a reward if they win, he promises them all a title match if they can defeat Christian Cage, D'Lo Brown and Jeff Jarrett at Sacrifice. The Fringe are delighted. B-

'Cowboy' James Storm v Doug Williams

A really good match helped by the two looking like they really gel in the ring together. Cowboy needed this match to tune up for his unexpected championship opportunity next week and made the most of it by disposing of Williams in 12:03 by pinfall with a Last Call Superkick. C+

Mr Wrestling IV interrupted a John Layfield promo on him by calling him a bully and he uses his influence backstage to get where he needs to be. IV tells him he won't be able to do that next week when they meet in the ring. B-

'Big Black Love Muscle' Monty Brown speaks out against Goldust, blaming him for his relationship break up with Buff 'The Puff' Bagwell, blaming him that Buff has left TNA and blaming him for Buff checking himself into a clinic to get treated for depression. C+

Abyss (with Harley Race) v Johnny Kashmere

Abyss was again dominant against a much smaller opponent as he put away Kashmere in 5:16 by pinfall with The Black Hole. D+

Backstage and the Dudleys say they are the world's greatest tag team and Sacrifice will be the start of their road to dominance in TNA. B-

The Fringe are backstage where Mike Sanders, EZ Money and Mike Quackenbush say they have everything to gain at Sacrifice and they will do so when they defeat Christian Cage, D'Lo Brown and Jeff Jarrett of the WWE Invasion. C

Air Paris v 'Fallen Angel' Christopher Daniels v Satoshi Kojima v The Amazing Red

Kojima was back in the X Division here but didn't look like he wanted to be, as he fought with a vicious edge against his three opponents fast paced, high flying style. It worked for Kojima as it took him to a victory in a match full of excitement, his win coming in 12:47 when Satoshi Kojima defeated Christopher Daniels by pinfall with a Lariat. C+

Jerry Lynn and The Miz are backstage, where they proclaim themselves as the best TNA Tag Team Champions ever and that their match against Brits Abroad at Sacrifice will be a walk in the park. C

CM Punk is seen at hospital, flanked by a doctor, a nurse and two armed security guards. For the first time he is awake and able to talk since the horrific hanging at Lockdown. He doesn't say much, other than hello to the TNA viewers... but it's progress. C+

Bryan Danielson v Super Crazy (with Jimmy Hart)

A very good main event despite the bout looking awkward in spells. Crazy makes his TNA TV debut alongside Jimmy Hart, which automatically made the crowd hate him and put him in the WWE Invaders. Despite Hart egging him on, Danielson got the better of him and won in 16:57 by submission with an Arms Across America. C+

Show rating: C

The show can be considered a success and should increase TNA's popularity.

Some of the angles did not reach the standard of the ring action.
