<strong>Evan Karagias v Maven (with Jimmy Hart)</strong></p><p>

A disappointing opening match up that had some good action but was devoid of any real excitement and all it did was show that TNA has better wrestlers currently than Maven and Karagias, who to give him some allowance is in only his second match back after an injury lay off. Maven won the match in 9:56 by pinfall with a Crossbody Block but the crowd were already looking forward to what is expected to come later. <strong>D+</strong></p><p> </p><p>

‘Big Black Love Muscle’ Monty Brown and Goldust are backstage and are having a final verbal confrontation before the first ever strap match dildo on a pole tag team match later tonight. Monty tells Goldust he will feel the big black love muscle tonight, while Goldust pokes Monty in the face with Gordon the golden dildo. <strong>D-</strong></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Latin American Exchange v Spanish Announce Team</strong></p><p>

A far, far better match than the opener and a surprise as the recently reunited Maximos lose to their Mexican counter parts despite operating as a slick united and having a large portion of the match. LAX haven’t been prominent of late in TNA but this victory shot them right back into it in 10:39 when Hernandez defeated Jose Maximo by pinfall with a Megabomb. <strong>C+</strong></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Super Crazy (with Jimmy Hart) v The Amazing Red</strong></p><p>

A much better X Division contest than the opener, and thankfully the action has picked up significantly from that tepid first match. Crazy and Red shared some exciting offence and Red emerged with a great triumph in the battle of the former X Division champions in 9:41 by pinfall with a Code Red. <strong>C+</strong></p><p> </p><p>

The Fringe speak backstage, where first EZ Money and then Mike Sanders speak of their desire to win the Tag Team Championship both for themselves, all of The Fringe and for TNA as a whole. <strong>C</strong></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>TNA X DIVISION CHAMPIONSHIP</strong></p><p><strong>

Caprice Coleman (champion) v The Miz (with Jimmy Hart)</strong></p><p><strong>

A very good and hugely enthralling match which saw high flying from Coleman, a healthy mixture of styles from Miz and near falls aplenty from both men as the pace barely let up from start through to finish. Coleman took inspiration from the near sell out crowd in the Redbird Arena and Miz took inspiration from Jimmy Hart. Coleman prevailed in the close encounter in 12:59 by pinfall with a Thermal Shock. Caprice Coleman makes defence number 2 of his TNA X Division title. </strong><strong><strong>B-</strong></strong></p><p><strong> </strong></p><p><strong>

CM Punk is backstage with Kevin Kelly, where he says he is better than Al Snow, better than the WWE Invaders and better than anyone in WWE. He vows to win the WWE Championship in TNA. </strong><strong><strong>C</strong></strong></p><p><strong> </strong></p><p><strong>

</strong><strong><strong>AK-47 & ‘Wildcat’ Chris Harris v Jeff Jarrett, John Layfield & Ken Shamrock (with Jimmy Hart)</strong></strong></p><p><strong>

A trio seemingly not better than the WWE Invaders are the former World Champion Harris and the former Tag Team Champions AK-47 who succumbed to the experienced and crafty former trio of World Champions in Jarrett, Layfield and Shamrock. It wasn’t for a lack of effort on the TNA wrestlers’ part, they didn’t have enough answers to combat the WWE Invaders’ trickery and in Shamrock’s case practical brutality. The WWE Invaders took the contest in 11:56 when John Layfield defeated Kid Kash by pinfall with a Clothesline From Hell. </strong><strong><strong>C+</strong></strong></p><p><strong> </strong></p><p><strong>

It’s Al Snow’s turn to talk to Kevin Kelly, where he refutes CM Punk’s claims he is better than anybody in or from the WWE and states there is a reason that CM Punk has never been in the number one wrestling company in the world. </strong><strong><strong>C-</strong></strong></p><p><strong> </strong></p><p><strong>

</strong><strong><strong>Tag Team Strap Match</strong></strong></p><p><strong><strong>

Gordon the Golden Dildo on a Pole</strong></strong></p><p><strong><strong>

‘Big Black Love Muscle’ Monty Brown & Chris Kanyon v D’Lo Brown & Goldust (with Jimmy Hart)</strong></strong></p><p><strong>

A match never seen before in wrestling and probably never will be seen again. The four men were attached by two long straps which just reached from turnbuckle to turnbuckle, leather with studs on of course, which were bound together at the middle. On one ‘neutral’ corner was a eight feet high pole, with Goldust’s golden dildo, Gordon attached to the top of it. The premise of the match is simple. Win by pinfall or submission (in whatever form). The straps and dildos are just for homosexual hilarity.</strong></p><p><strong>

It didn’t take long for the straps to be used, as ‘Big Black Love Muscle’ Monty Brown started whipping his opponents with it. D’Lo Brown screamed in pain. Goldust had a bizarre look of painful perversion and then Monty used it on his own partner Chris Kanyon who screamed for more and telling Monty to cause him more pain on his ass. </strong></p><p><strong>

The four fought some more, conventionally for a while, before Chris Kanyon managed to bound together Goldust and D’Lo using the straps, which allowed Monty and Kanyon to simulate anal sex in a four man bum chain.</strong></p><p><strong>

D’Lo was beginning to look visually sickened by the whole affair. Kanyon and Monty were of course loving it, while Goldust still had a bizarre look of perverse pleasure from the whole thing. Monty then tied Goldust and D’Lo together in the ropes, which allowed Kanyon to fetch Gordon the golden dildo while Monty was kissing his two opponents.</strong></p><p><strong>

D’Lo then backed up into the corner, looking completely disgusted at what he had got himself involved in and unwilling to participate in any more. Monty and Kanyon weren’t bothered, as they double teamed Goldust in a manner never seen before in a professional wrestling ring. Kanyon pulled down Goldust’s tights revealing a black thong. Monty then took Gordon the golden dildo and started poking it in Goldust’s anus. As Goldust screamed, unknown whether it was pain, pleasure or both as he was face down on a top turnbuckle, D’Lo Brown was physically sick in the opposite corner. Monty then took out Gordon the now brown dildo, Kanyon stood Goldust up who was pulling his ass cheeks back together only for Monty to nail him with a Pounce and in a rare piece of wrestling action in the match took the pinfall in 14:46. Some of the near ten thousand fans in the crowd shared D’Lo Browns thoughts at the whole match, some found it hilarious from start to finish while a handful went off to the men’s room for a quick wank or to clean themselves up. </strong><strong><strong>C</strong></strong><strong> (for the mixed reaction one assumes)</strong></p><p><strong> </strong></p><p><strong>

A startled looking Kevin Kelly and AJ Styles are seen backstage. Both men express their astonishment at what they had just witnessed in the ring. The segment was originally supposed to be AJ talking to Kelly about his challenge for Christian Cage’s NWA TNA World Heavyweight Championship but both men have been thrown completely off track by the Strap Golden Dildo match that just happened. </strong><strong><strong>C</strong></strong></p><p><strong> </strong></p><p><strong>

</strong><strong><strong>NWA TNA TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP</strong></strong></p><p><strong><strong>

Dudleys (champions, with Jimmy Hart) v The Fringe</strong></strong></p><p><strong><strong>

Back to traditional tag team wrestling and a very good match that did much to restore at least some faith that wrestling purists might have in the TNA product. That is as long as they have finished vomiting or voicing their displeasure on Twitface. Sanders under performed and this led to his team coming out on the losing end of this championship match in 18:13 when Brother Devon defeated Mike Sanders by pinfall with a 3D. Dudleys make defence number 3 of their NWA TNA World Tag Team titles. No bumming or any other homosexual acts in this match. Unless there was any in the crowd that the cameras didn’t pick up. </strong></strong><strong><strong><strong>B-</strong></strong></strong></p><p><strong><strong> </strong></strong></p><p><strong><strong>

</strong></strong><strong><strong><strong>Abyss (with Harley Race) v Rey Mysterio Jr</strong></strong></strong></p><p><strong><strong>

Abyss was largely dominant in a fairly short match. Rey did get some offence in, but most of it barely fazed Harley Race’s monster. Abyss won comfortably in 7:11 by pinfall with The Black Hole. </strong></strong><strong><strong><strong>C</strong></strong></strong></p><p><strong><strong> </strong></strong></p><p><strong><strong>

Christian Cage is backstage with Kevin Kelly. Cage says he is glad about the homosexual tag team match earlier as it has completely taken AJ Styles’ focus off their World Championship main event match later. </strong></strong><strong><strong><strong>C</strong></strong></strong></p><p><strong><strong> </strong></strong></p><p><strong><strong>

</strong></strong><span>http://t1.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcRU0qxZvv3Njy3SCY-aFq7eS6DgR45mfS_yFCe4_nbYjKZmfQNjRQ</span></p><p><strong><strong>

</strong></strong><strong><strong><strong>WWE CHAMPIONSHIP</strong></strong></strong></p><p><strong><strong><strong>

Al Snow (champion, with Jimmy Hart) v CM Punk</strong></strong></strong></p><p><strong><strong>

A decent match where Snow fought with the WWE on his sleeve, in other words as though his life depended on it. Punk was focused, keenly anticipating a lot of Snow’s moves and countering a number of them, including the Snow Plough. Hart tried to interfere on Snow’s behalf, only for Punk to clock him while he had Snow locked in the Anaconda Vice, and proceeded to break the hold and punch Hart straight in the hooter, knocking him down for the count. Snow tried a sneak attack, which Punk knew was coming and Punk took the WWE Championship in 19:46 by pinfall with a Pepsi Plunge. CM Punk wins the WWE title. The WWE Championship is with a TNA wrestler, though it is not the official WWE Undisputed Championship. </strong></strong><strong><strong><strong>C+</strong></strong></strong></p><p><strong><strong> </strong></strong></p><p><strong><strong>

Following the match, CM Punk heads out into the crowd and towards an exit. He stops at the exit, the crowd are going nuts as Punk is heard shouting “Kiss my ass McMahon” and “I’m the best in the world”. </strong></strong><strong><strong><strong>B-</strong></strong></strong></p><p><strong><strong> </strong></strong></p><p><strong><strong>

As we wait for the match between Christian Cage and AJ Styles to commence, Tenay and Potter run us through the Tale Of The Tape. </strong></strong><strong><strong><strong>C-</strong></strong></strong></p><p><strong><strong> </strong></strong></p><p><strong><strong>

</strong></strong><span>http://t1.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcQsCHSUEEaLUwteAuJvoeawCK7e29mOWY3tF_woa1s4ks-bhqN6Yg</span></p><p><strong><strong>

</strong></strong><strong><strong><strong>NWA TNA WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP</strong></strong></strong></p><p><strong><strong><strong>

Christian Cage (champion, with Jimmy Hart) v AJ Styles</strong></strong></strong></p><p><strong><strong>

A lack of chemistry just took the shine of a main event which could have been one of, if not the best match in TNA history. The crowd were hot and some of the action was just as hot, but the match didn’t flow like it could maybe have done so. Even so, the fans had their money worth from it as Styles came close to winning the title following a springboard forearm, a four fifty springboard splash and also a Styles Clash. Cage sneaked a shoulder up or put his foot on the bottom rope on each occasion.</strong></strong></p><p><strong><strong>

Jimmy Hart then started distracting AJ Styles by shouting dildo through his megaphone repeatedly. This clearly broke Styles’ concentration and while he was busy trying to shut Jimmy Hart up, the champion took full advantage and retained in 25:51 by pinfall with an Unprettier. Christian Cage makes defence number 5 of his NWA TNA World Heavyweight title. </strong></strong><strong><strong><strong>B-</strong></strong></strong></p><p><strong><strong> </strong></strong></p><p><strong><strong>

The show can be considered a success and should increase TNA’s popularity.</strong></strong></p><p><strong><strong>

PRE SHOW

In a match that had some good action but not much in the way of heat, Billy Kidman defeated Prince Nana in 6:18 by pinfall with a Shooting Star Press. C+

Impact

Sunday, week 1, September 2005

Broadcast on Spike on Monday, week 2, September 2005

TNA Director of Authority Dusty Rhodes is in the ring to start Impact with the WWE Champion CM Punk. Rhodes calls out his counterpart of sorts in the WWE Invasion, Arn Anderson and the NWA TNA Champion, Christian Cage.

Anderson and Cage walk to the ring, Anderson clearly unhappy at Punk winning the WWE Championship from Al Snow two nights ago at No Surrender as he gives him verbals all the way during the walk. Anderson and Cage climb in the ring, and Rhodes tells them it is time it all came to an end. He says that as TNA is in complete limbo right now with a TNA guy and a WWE guy running the show and as there is a WWE guy holding the TNA Championship and a TNA guy holding the WWE Championship, he has a proposition to sort everything out. Rhodes proposes two things to happen at Bound for Glory IV. Firstly, that there be a series of matches at Bound for Glory IV between TNA wrestlers and WWE wrestlers and whichever company or faction wins the series wins control at TNA. Secondly, that Christian Cage and CM Punk meet again, this time in a unification match for the NWA TNA and the WWE Championships.

Cage is eager, he’s had Punk’s number in TNA. Punk is eager too, saying it’s time to end the WWE and the McMahon puppets. Anderson is not so sure, but after a short conference with Cage, he agrees. Bound for Glory IV will have massive implications for the whole future of TNA. C+

USA I (Steve Corino) v INTERNATIONAL TEAM (Rocky Romero)

An awkward looking bout that didn’t excite the crowd kicked off the second TNA Nations Cup. Corino has not been prominent of late in TNA while Romero has largely been competing in the tag team division. Despite Corino’s lack of ring action, he still put USA I in the lead in the best of three series by disposing of Romero in 8:09 by pinfall with an Old School Expulsion. C-

Hernandez and Jorge Estrada are in a dressing room decked out in green, red and white, and has a couple of Mexican flags. They tell the TNA fans that Mexico is the best country in the world (cue cheap heat from the crowd in the Hirsch Memorial Coliseum) and then go on to discuss whether Chavo Guerrero Jr, Super Crazy or Ultimo Guerrero would be the best option for their third man. They push the cameraman away before announcing a decision. C

A music video package plays showcasing the talent of Billy Kidman. C

’Cowboy’ James Storm v Paul London

A high quality match that surprised many and got the crowd increasingly raucous as the match went on. Brawling met high pace and air and despite the complete contrasts, Storm and London displayed some great cohesiveness in the ring. As the match reached it’s conclusion, it was London’s faster pace that was in the ascendancy and duly brought him victory in 8:42 by pinfall with a London Calling. B-

Satoshi Kojima is backstage, talking to Shoichi Funaki in Japanese. Whatever Kojima was saying, it sure fires up Funaki as he leaps up, starts shouting in Japanese before finishing with “Japan number one!” C-

Backstage and Arn Anderson has met the X Division Champion, Caprice Coleman. Anderson asks if Coleman has heard that there is the hugely important series of matches at Bound for Glory IV. Coleman tells the Enforcer that he has and he is looking forward to TNA returning to normal. Anderson says that’s not going to happen, and that an X Division Championship match will be part of the series, where the challenger will be Maven. C+

Happy Bummers (new name for ‘Big Black Love Muscle’ Monty Brown & Chris Kanyon) v WWE Invaders (with Jimmy Hart)

The Miz did his team no favours whatsoever by putting in a stinker in what was otherwise a decent match. Miz’s poor show heavily tipped the match in favour of Brown and Kanyon who took it with some comfort in 11:33 when Chris Kanyon defeated The Miz by pinfall with a Flatliner. C

Backstage and an unhappy Jose Maximo is with his brother Joel. Jose blames himself for their surprise defeat to Latin American Exchange at No Surrender. Joel tries to cheer him up by telling him the greatest teams have suffered setbacks in the past but it doesn’t seem to work. C

Backstage and Arn Anderson is geeing up the WWE Invaders, including Al Snow, Jeff Jarrett, the Dudleys, John Layfield, Ken Shamrock and Goldust. Anderson can’t stress enough how vital it is that the WWE win the series at Bound for Glory IV as failure is not an option… and neither is letting Vince McMahon down. C+

Air Paris v ‘Wildcat’ Chris Harris

Harris took it to Paris in another match that far exceeded expectations and was high in quality. The former World Champion proved too much for the former X Division Champion and Harris walked out triumphant in 11:58 by pinfall with a Catatonic. B-

Kevin Kelly talks to Harley Race, who hypes his monster Abyss and says he will become the best big man in the history of the business. C

Dusty Rhodes is in his office backstage and AJ Styles enters. He thanks AJ for coming to see him, and tells Styles about the huge series at Bound for Glory IV. Styles tells Rhodes he can count on him to do his bit. Dusty says he knows he can, so asks AJ to take on Jeff Jarrett at Bound for Glory. AJ says he’ll be glad to. B-

Rey Mysterio Jr v Super Crazy (with Jimmy Hart)

A great match up that will be remembered in TNA for some time. Mysterio and Crazy put on a fast and exciting match throughout which saw both men unleash their full range of exciting moves. Both men had numerous near falls and Rey had his arm raised in front of a standing crowd in 14:03 by pinfall with a Springboard Hurricanrana. Rey laps up the crowd’s chants of “Rey is awesome”. B

Show rating: C+

The show can be considered a success and should increase TNA’s popularity.

Some of the angles did not reach the standard of the ring action.

Arn Anderson was used too much.

Attendance: 3979

TV rating:

Loss: $68,824

Impact is the seventh best show in TNA history.

Rey Mysterio Jr v Super Crazy is TNA’s ninth best match in history.

PRE SHOW

In a match that had some good action but not much in the way of heat, Ultimo Guerrero defeated Pac in 5:33 by pinfall with an El Nudo. C+

Impact

Sunday, week 2, September 2005

Broadcast on Spike on Monday, week 3, September 2005

RIMAC Arena, San Diego, CA.

Christian Cage and CM Punk, the NWA TNA and the WWE Champions respectively are in the ring as Impact starts. The two engage in yet another war of words between the two, this time over which many will reign supreme and whether it will be in TNA, or as Cage put it, “Vince McMahon’s side project”. This angers Punk who rushes at Cage, who just manages to bail in time. B-

Double R v Spanish Announce Team

SAT suffered a second straight surprising defeat as they went down to Rocky Romero and Roderick Strong despite again mostly controlling the match. Again Jose looked deflated after the match, perhaps bordering on depressed as his brother Joel tried to console him. Double R’s triumph came in 7:03 when Rocky Romero defeated Jose Maximo by submission with a Diablo Armbar. Jose tailed behind his brother with his head down as they walked back up the ramp away from the ring. C-

Kevin Kelly interviews Vampiro backstage, who talks about the TNA Nations Cup and how Canada will win. C-

Air Paris v Billy Kidman

A high quality match which highlighted all the strengths of one of the best things in TNA right now, the X Division, which consistently produces some quality matches. As always with these (typically) smaller athletes, both men gave everything they had and it was Paris who stood tall in 9:55 taking the decision by pinfall with a Moonsault Press. B-

A rather bizarre segment comes up next. ‘Wildcat’ Chris Harris is in the ring talking about how much TNA means to him and how he will do all he can for TNA to live on past Bound for Glory IV. Jimmy Hart then interrupts with Goldust, who is carrying a brown stained Gordon the golden dildo. Goldust declares himself as “bigendered” and that “I loved his match at No Surrender as it excited me”. Goldust says he can beat any man or woman in a match and tells Harris that Goldust will beat him at Bound for Glory. Harris, like most of the crowd, have a look of disbelief on their face at what Goldust has just said. B-

Al Snow is backstage where he says he is angry at losing the WWE Championship to CM Punk and is apologetic to Vince McMahon for letting him down. C

Maven v The Amazing Red

A match that eclipsed the high quality match between Paris and Kidman earlier and one that firmly puts Maven on course to be a serious challenger to Caprice Coleman and the X Division Championship at Bound for Glory. While he was not dominant against Red as both men looked superb, he did pull off a victory that people will take notice off, it coming in 8:31 by pinfall with a Crossbody Block. B

Paul London is walking backstage minding his own business when he comes across Harley Race and the towering Abyss. Race tells London that Abyss is hungry for more pain and suffering and is looking for his next victim and that he has just found him. London looks worried and scurries off. C+

The Dudleys are next to be seen in the WWE Invasion locker room. They laugh off any possible challengers for their titles at Bound for Glory, saying there are no teams in TNA good enough to take their belts off them. C+

TNA NATIONS CUP QUARTER FINAL MATCH 1

Satoshi Kojima v Super Crazy

Surprisingly average given the high quality of the earlier contests. A back and forth contest with both men competing proudly for their country with Japan seizing the advantage in 14:21 when Kojima beat Crazy by pinfall with a Lariat. C

John Layfield comes to the ring. He is proud to be a WWE superstar and after Bound for Glory he says that WWE and Vince McMahon will rule wrestling. Rey Mysterio Jr comes out and takes umbrage to Layfield’s comments, saying that McMahon killed WCW and Rey will not stand by and allow McMahon to destroy TNA as well. Layfield says fine, he says that Jerry Lynn will show him otherwise at Bound for Glory IV. Rey looks on at Layfield with disgust. B

Backstage and AJ Styles is walking and talking to a cameraman, saying he bleeds TNA and has been here from day one. He can’t believe that the very founder of TNA, Jeff Jarrett, would abandon his very own company and side with a scumbag like McMahon and corporate bullies like WWE. Jarrett attacks AJ from behind, saying he lost his company when “that floosie Dixie Carter poured her money in”. He stomps on AJ for good measure before leaving. B-

Abyss (with Harley Race) v Bryan Danielson

Some solid action in the main event but it was overshadowed by some of the great X Division action seen earlier. Abyss has been having his way recently by dominating his opponents but in this clash of two former World Champions, Danielson put up far more of a fight than Abyss’ other recent opponents. Abyss still used his bulk to bring the win though with the match concluding in 16:55 by pinfall with The Black Hole. C

Show rating: C+

The show can be considered a success and should increase TNA’s popularity.

Some of the angles helped to lift the show.

Attendance: 3910

Loss: $49,736

Maven v The Amazing Red was the seventh best match in TNA history.
