PRE SHOW

In a match that had some good action and average heat, Little Guido defeated Ultimo Guerrero in 10:28 by pinfall with an Arriverderci. C+

Explosion

Wednesday, week 1, November 2005

Live on UrbanXtra and Request TV pay per view

Selland Arena, Fresno, CA.

Double R v New Announce Team

A good opening match which was mostly fast paced and high flying. Each team had good spells in the match and it was the new pairing of Joel Maximo and The Amazing Red who had their arms raised by Jack Doan in 10:19 when The Amazing Red defeated Rocky Romero by pinfall with a Code Red. C+

Christian Cage and Jeff Jarrett express their disgust at The Truth, calling him a turncoat and a traitor for turning his back on The Don of wrestling, Vince McMahon. They are clearly still mad at The Truth being the deciding factor in CM Punk beating Christian Cage at Bound for Glory IV and in the process becoming the champion and vanquishing the WWE Invasion. Jarrett promises he and Cage will vanquish The Truth at Turning Point. C

Latin American Exchange & Super Crazy v Hiroshi Tanahashi, Satoshi Kojima & Shoichi Funaki

Another good match and a keenly fought contest in which Mexico edged out Japan to advance to the semi final. Hernandez’s power was the biggest factor in Mexico’s win and set up the win when he man handled Funaki in the ring, the victory coming in 8:44 when Jorge Estrada defeated Shoichi Funaki by pinfall with a Greetings from Graceland. C+

Ken Shamrock is speaking to Kevin Kelly backstage, and he speaks about his Turning Point match against Steve Corino, commenting on Corino’s sporadic appearances in TNA and questions whether he will be ready to face somebody like himself. C-

Al Snow, Chavo Guerrero Jr, D’Lo Brown & Maven v Evan Karagias, Paul London, Rey Mysterio Jr & ‘Wildcat’ Chris Harris

A wild match which Mickey Jay struggled to maintain control of as on numerous occasions four or more of the men in the match engaging in brawling battles. When the dust finally settled the crowd cheered as their favourites emerged triumphant in 11:55 when Paul London defeated Chavo Guerrero Jr. by pinfall with a London Calling. C+

AJ Styles comes out to the ring. He announces that he has agreed to a contract to compete in HUSTLE and will move to Japan to further hone his skills next week. He continues by saying his match against Abyss tonight will be his last one in TNA, at least for now. He thanks the TNA fans for their massive support since he joined on day one, and promises them he will put on one last show before he goes. The crowd chant “Thank you AJ” and “Please don’t go”. C+

TNA X DIVISION CHAMPIONSHIP

Caprice Coleman (champion) v Jerry Lynn

A slightly disappointing title match which wasn’t as exciting as X Division matches usually are. The wily veteran Lynn have Coleman some problems through the match but the promising young star and current X Division champion dealt with everything his challenger could throw at him and overcame him in 14:29 by pinfall with a Thermal Shock. Caprice Coleman makes defence number 6 of his TNA X Division title. C-

Goldust conducts another bizarre promo, saying he finds ‘Big Black Love Muscle’ Monty Brown fascinating and strangely attractive. He says he wants some little Montys before licking his golden dildo, Gordon. C

NWA TNA TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP

Dudleys (champions) v Happy Bummers

Dudleys were their devious best as they bettered the homosexual pairing of Monty Brown and Chris Kanyon, with the Dudleys, especially Ray badmouthing the gay pair throughout the match. Their comments bordered on abusive and discriminative. This got into the heads of Brown and Kanyon and as the match progressed further, it affected them more. The crowd booed loudly as the champions retained, more so over the manner they did it than who it was and the fact the won. Their dubious win came in 13:16 when Brother Devon defeated 'Alpha Male' Monty Brown by pinfall with a 3D. Dudleys make defence number 7 of their NWA TNA World Tag Team titles. C+

John Layfield speaks, saying he hopes CM Punk wins so he can do what Christian Cage was deprived of doing back at Bound for Glory IV, and that is win the World Championship and rule TNA. C

Abyss (with Harley Race) v AJ Styles

AJ lived up to his promise and wrestled his heart out for the TNA fans. Abyss is on a monster roll at the moment and outmuscled Styles on his way to a big victory, his biggest since being the World Champion a while back. The crowd again thanked AJ despite his losing effort while Abyss stood menacingly in the ring, Harley Race congratulating his charge who surely is moving into World Championship contention again. B-

Following the match. Abyss intimidates Kevin Kelly while Harley Race remarks that his monster has sent AJ packing with his tail between his legs and they will now be targeting glory. C

NWA TNA WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP

CM Punk (champion) v Air Paris

A good main event that surprisingly showed a lack of psychology from the two combatants. Paris, the first X Division champion was making his first challenge for the World Championship and certainly upped his game for it, as he proved to be a match for Punk. Punk absorbed Paris’ offence however and made his first defence since unifying the TNA and WWE Championships a couple of weeks ago. Punk’s victory was in 18:57 by pinfall with a Pepsi Plunge. CM Punk makes defence number 1 of his NWA TNA World Heavyweight title. C+

Following the match, CM Punk grabbed a microphone from ringside. He says that he woke up this morning and both he, and another man had wised up. He said he received a phone call this morning where he was made an offered he simply could not refuse. He went on to say that TNA is not the big time, and it never will be. He continued by saying he has been offered “big promises and big dollars” and that he wants to better himself in the big leagues. “That man was Vince McMahon and I’m leaving this company of nobodies with your title”. With that, CM Punk drops the microphone in the ring and leaves down the side of the ramp, with NWA TNA World Heavyweight Championship belt draped over his shoulder, flipping the bird to the fans, some of which are stunned into silence and the others boo loudly and shout abuse at Punk. B

Show rating: C+

The show can be considered a success and should increase TNA’s popularity.

A number of angles did not reach the standard of the matches.

Attendance: 9919

Buy rate: 1.01 (new TNA record)

Profit: $247,766

Progress has slowed now as I started a new job last month and I have a lot less free time now. I was able to post a few shows before with a couple of days space because before I got my new job I had three weeks off, and was able to progress the game ahead of the diary. It's caught up now though.

Hopefully I'll have something up next week.

PRE SHOW

In a match that had some good action and average heat, Johnny Kashmere defeated Shawn Daivari in 7:41 by pinfall with a Cradle Breaker. C-

Impact

Sunday, week 1, November 2005

Broadcast on Spike on Monday, week 2, November 2005

Reilly Center, St Bonaventure, NY.

http://t1.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcRspQVAOtf1XcpPoMkpescNc3RNC0IqJbGJ9knad8qBPl-O0Fy6

TNA Director of Authority Dusty Rhodes starts Impact by walking to the ring and taking a microphone. He says he is disgusted by CM Punk’s actions last week. He thought Punk was a good man as he led TNA to victory over the WWE Invaders only to abandon TNA and jump ship to WWE itself with the NWA TNA World Heavyweight Championship. Rhodes is also angry he can’t do anything about it and he has a problem in that the World Champion is now in another company.

Rhodes is then interrupted by some unfamiliar music and out walks TNA owner Dixie Carter, making her first appearance on a show. Dixie tells Dusty that next week there is a board meeting with the NWA regarding the World Championship and that she will have an announcement to make following that meeting on Impact next week. C-

A music video highlights package is shown of Caprice Coleman. A

TV TITLE TOURNAMENT FIRST ROUND

EZ Money v The Miz

Money under performed in this first round match and it cost him as The Miz took full advantage of Money’s poor showing to advance into the quarter finals in 9:15 by pinfall with a Reality Check in a mediocre opener. D+

Rey Mysterio Jr speaks to Kevin Kelly, remarking he is surprised CM Punk left for TNA after fighting so hard for TNA and being the champion. Rey thinks Punk has made a mistake joining WWE. B-

Ken Shamrock speaks, laughing that CM Punk has abandoned TNA and taken the title with him. Shamrock says that he will be the next champion but first he’s going to break Steve Corino’s ankle at Turning Point. C+

United Kingdom (Brits Abroad & Doug Williams) v Canada (Lance Storm, Quiet Storm & Vampiro)

A restless crowd’s mood wasn’t lifted when the Canadians triumphed over the British, though at least the match was of a fair standard. Canada advance to a semi final series against USA I in 7:58 when Lance Storm defeated Desmond Wolfe by submission with a Straightshooter. C

Christian Cage and Jeff Jarrett also laugh at CM Punk’s departure, saying he learnt what they know, that Vince McMahon is the Don of wrestling. The Truth then walks by, and the pair mock him for having no friends with AJ Styles abandoning him and moving to Japan. The Truth gets wide eyed and talks to Little Jimmy. Cage and Jarrett say he’s crazy and The Truth says Little Jimmy found him a tag partner and Mike Sanders and The Truth will make sure Cage and Jarrett are “gonna get got”. C+

A sad Satoshi Kojima is seen backstage. He is sad at Japan’s elimination from the TNA Nations Cup and also saddened at the manner of CM Punk’s departure, saying it lacked respect and dignity. B-

TV TITLE TOURNAMENT FIRST ROUND

Air Paris v Mike Sanders

A fairly disappointing night of action so far was not improved in a fairly stale match. Sanders edged it in 10:33 by pinfall with a 3.0. As Sanders celebrates advancing, The Truth appears on stage giving him the thumbs up, only for Christian Cage and Jeff Jarrett rush up and attack him and throw him off the ramp before escaping as Sanders runs up the ramp carrying a chair. C-

John Layfield is backstage and unlike others, is angry that CM Punk has left as he has now been deprived of challenging for the NWA TNA World Heavyweight Championship at Turning Point. He demands that Dusty Rhodes makes the right decision and names him champion. C

Backstage and a heated exchange is taking place between the Dudleys and AK-47. A bevvy of security and officials keep the four men apart who will meet at Turning Point. C+

Al Snow & Maven v Happy Bummers

A much better match much to the fans relief but another result that won’t please most of them. A keenly caught contest was won by Snow and Maven to give them the momentum going into the six man tag team match at Turning Point with some help coming from Goldust who attacked ‘Big Black Love Muscle’ Monty Brown mid match. Snow picked up the fall in 13:19 when he defeated Chris Kanyon by pinfall with a Snow Plow. C+

EZ Money is backstage where he taunts the dark Vampiro. D+

Harley Race is elsewhere backstage where he hypes up his monster Abyss and how he will torture ‘Wildcat’ Chris Harris at Turning Point. C+

Caprice Coleman (X Division Champion) & Evan Karagias v Chavo Guerrero Jr & D’Lo Brown

Easily the best match of the night and a match that finally the crowd could get into and were happy with. Coleman has been looking ever impressive and his upward standard continued further with a very impressive performance here, helping his former New Dawn partner to take the match in 16:02 when Caprice Coleman defeated Chavo Guerrero Jr. by pinfall with a Thermal Shock. B

Show rating: C+

The show can be considered a success and should increase TNA’s popularity.

A number of angles did not reach the standard of the matches.

Chavo Guerrero Jr was used too much.

Attendance: 4134

Loss: $47,025

NWA TNA TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP

Dudleys (Brother Devon & Brother Ray, champions) v AK-47 (Austin Aries & Kid Kash) (C heat)

AK-47 is one my favorite home grown teams. Right now a little stability might be important with the defections. AK will get another chance to bring home the gold. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/RF9fqx4H_Cg" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

’Cowboy’ James Storm v EZ Money

A cracking opening match which will got the crowd vocal, with the majority clearly behind Money. Everyone likes Money and can’t get enough. The support helped Money and he looked good throughout but he came out on the short end and it was James Storm who had his arm raised in 11:32 by pinfall with a Top Rope Bulldog. C

D’Lo Brown v Evan Karagias

Another good match and one that produced a result that might be considered a little surprising. D’Lo is the more established of the two wrestlers but it was he that was staring up at the lights in 9:45 when he was defeated by pinfall with a Tidal Wave. C

John Layfield is backstage with Kevin Kelly. Layfield is angry he hasn’t been named the new World Champion when he should have been facing the departed champion CM Punk for the title tonight and demands that TNA Director of Authority Dusty Rhodes presents him with the championship tonight in the ring, before or after his match. C

Brits Abroad v Jerry Lynn & The Miz (with Jimmy Hart)

A very good tag team match which saw the typical face and heels tactics. Miz and Lynn frequently double teaming and making illegal tags with Desmond Wolfe being the man struggling to tag out before ultimately making a hot tag to Chris Hero, who briefly dominated the match. Jimmy Hart provided a crucial distraction to Chris Hero, which allowed his charges to capitalise and win in 10:49 when The Miz defeated Chris Hero by pinfall with a Reality Check. C+

Ken Shamrock v Steve Corino

A quality match in an old school style as two quality wrestlers wrestled each other on the mat, just like the olden days. Shamrock caused Corino problems with his hard hitting and prevailed partly due to this in 13:26 by submission with an Ankle Lock. C+

The Dudleys speak about their Tag Team Championship match tonight against AK-47, saying they took the belts off them and they aren’t going to let them have them back. C-

Doug Williams v John Layfield

A cracking match. Layfield wrestled with anger and it looked like he would hurt Williams. Williams however countered Layfield with some excellent technical wrestling and caused his much larger opponent considerable problems. Layfield’s anger was channelled the right way ultimately and he was victorious in 11:27 by pinfall with a Clothesline From Hell. After the match he staged a short sit in, demanding Dusty Rhodes bring out the World Heavyweight Championship belt, until his mic got cut off and seven burly security men came out to escort him away. B

Christian Cage & Jeff Jarrett v Mike Sanders & The Truth

Sanders and Truth tried their hardest, with The Truth occasionally seeking advice from his invisible friend Little Jimmy. None of this was enough to help them to take the match and that even with Christian Cage not performing as well as everybody knows he can. Despite this, he still claimed the victory for his team in 14:32 when Christian Cage defeated Mike Sanders by pinfall with an Unprettier. C

Backstage after the match, Christian Cage calls The Truth pathetic and tells him he needs to either grow up or see a shrink as he has no imaginary friend and he has no ‘Little Jimmy’. [/b]C-[/b]

TNA X DIVISION CHAMPIONSHIP

Caprice Coleman (champion) v Chavo Guerrero Jr

Another X Division match which was high on pace and high on quality. Coleman is proving to be a tremendous champion and made another noteworthy defence against a respected opponent who was a tough test. Coleman’s newest successful defence had the fans chanting his name as he held up the belt after winning in 14:06 by pinfall with a Thermal Shock. Caprice Coleman makes defence number 7 of his TNA X Division title. B-

Al Snow, Goldust & Maven v ‘Big Black Love Muscle’ Monty Brown, Buff ‘The Puff’ Bagwell & Chris Kanyon

The worst action of the match thus far despite numerous comedic homosexual/homophobic spots throughout the match, one example being when Goldust rubbed Monty Brown’s penis (through his tights) with both of them seemingly enjoying it until Buff Bagwell and Chris Kanyon rushed into the ring and laid into Goldust. With Goldust laid out, the match became three on two and the trio of gays had their arms raised as the cocks raised in excitement in 14:59 when Buff 'The Puff' Bagwell defeated Maven by pinfall with a Buff Blockbuster. C-

Ken Shamrock is in Dusty Rhodes’ office and puts his case across as to why he should be made the new World Heavyweight Champion. For once Shamrock is calm and collected and Rhodes is clearly listening, before telling Shamrock it may not be in his hands to decide anything, it might be Dixie Carter and the board who make a decision. C-

NWA TNA TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP

Dudleys (champions) v AK-47

A quality tag team championship match on a night which has seen some really good action. The Dudleys went into this match with a highly confident attitude having taking the titles off AK-47 a few weeks ago. Austin Aries and Kid Kash were not champions for nothing though and were very resilient in this match, absorbing everything the Dudleys threw at them and gave it back. Their resiliency saw them reclaim the titles in 19:53 when Kid Kash defeated Brother Devon by pinfall with a Money Maker. AK-47 win the NWA TNA World Tag Team titles. C+

The cameras go backstage where we see Abyss warming up. By head butting the lockers. C+

Abyss (with Harley Race) v ‘Wildcat’ Chris Harris

A very good main event between two former World Champions. Harley Race was expecting this to be another dominant performance from Abyss, but Harris is too good and indeed often took the fight to his larger opponent. The crowd got more and more behind Harris but in the end, Abyss’ size and strength proved to be a little bit too much and Race’s charge finally overcame the Wildcat in 22:44 by pinfall with The Black Hole. B-

Show rating: C+
