The TCW logo fades into a shot of the rowdy Texas crowd as the Total Wrestling theme song plays. Some of TCW's biggest and best moments are highlighted as part of the shows opening video montage. Notably, few of the highlights are of the HGC days of the promotion. Even more notably, the montage is devoid entirely of “Mr. TCW”, Tommy Cornell. It highlights the current crop of TCW talent.

Jason Azaria: Bringing you the very best in professional wrestling, this is... Total Championship Wrestling! I am Jason Azaria, and with me is my broadcast partner, Kyle Rhodes.

Kyle Rhodes: Good evening to one and all. We have a great night of action ahead of us. So let's get things started.

Wolf Hawkins

In-Ring Promo

The crowd is silenced by the ever-familiar music of The Syndicate, the initial surprise of the fans giving way to a loud chorus of boos. Only its not both members of the hated stable that emerge. It is only Wolf Hawkins. The protege of Tommy Cornell jeers at the fans as he stands atop the stage before he makes his way down to the ring. He slides into the ring, taking a moment to pose before gesturing for a microphone. “The Prodigy” cannot speak immediately, because the roar of the hating crowd grows too loud. He waits it out, sneering. When he speaks, it is in slow and even tones. It makes almost every word come across like a threat.

Wolf Hawkins: That's right, I'm out here by myself. Tommy is enjoying his little vacation at home. If the Home Office really believes they are going teach him a “lesson” with this, they clearly do not know Tommy Cornell. But I am not out here to talk about my mentor. I am here to talk about me. Because the Hour of the Wolf is upon us. Tonight, Benny Benson will feel it. Next week, its going to be Rocky Golden. And at Where Angels Fear to Tread, its going to be you, Joey Minnesota.

This actually gets a pop from the crowd. Battles between Hawkins and Minnesota rarely disappoint.

Wolf Hawkins: I am tired, Minnesota, of people saying that we are the future of Total Championship Wrestling. There is no “we”. Its only me. I am the future. I am the Prodigy. You see, I am destined to follow the career path of Tommy Cornell. To become one of the greatest talents this sport has ever seen. You will be lucky to emulate Ricky Dale Johnson. Which means you will never be better than second best. You best get used to following my lead, Minnesota.

Hawkins drops the microphone and moves into the corner, leaning casually against the turnbuckles while he awaits his opponent

Grade: A

Wolf Hawkins vs Benny Benson

6'3” + 235 lbs vs 5'10” + 215 lbs

Benson gets a pretty decent reaction from the fans, but he doesn't hurry down to the ring. It is obvious he's still banged up from the battering he took from Eddie Peak at the pay per view. Things don't get much easier against Hawkins. The quickness of the 215-pound crusierweight doesn't give him much of an advantage over an athletic middleweight like Hawkins. The opening few minutes of the match are fairly open. Things change after about five minutes when “The Prodigy” grabs Benson by the hair and throws him across the ring. Referee Eugene Williams admonishes Hawkins, who simply does it again, throwing Benson into the turnbuckles and follow him in with a big knee. Williams is unlikely to disqualify someone unless the transgression is huge, so Hawkins simply ignores the ref. The 24-year old takes over the match, working Benson over viciously. Once “Captain Excitement” is clearly hurting, Hawkins slips into his stalking approach which fans have dubbed “The Hunt”. He moves forward with relentless offense, move after move that give Benson no room to breathe. It all leads up to the Full Moon Rising Enzuigiri kick, which Benson manages to avoid.... rolling out of the way and spinning to his feet, only to take a big knee to the chin. He drops, and the Full Moon Rising connects this time. Hawkins goes for the pin, getting the three from Williams. Benson pounds the mat in frustration at another loss as Hawkins is announced as the victor.

Wolf Hawkins Wins at 12:21 via Pinfall

Grade: B

Kyle Rhodes: The road for Benny Benson simply does not get any easier. You have to feel bad for “Captain Excitement” at this point.

Sammy Bach & Karen Killer

In-Ring Promo

“The Fallen” Sammy Bach is on the backstage interview set with his manager, Karen Killer. Bach glares into the camera for a long moment, until it becomes a bit awkward. Then he breaks into a creepy smile.

Sammy Bach: One of my students recently asked me a question. He asked, “Teacher, where does The Fall take you?” Silly child... as if The Fall can simply be explained. As it isn't an epiphany of truth that must be experienced to be understood. And so I answered, “Why, it takes you to the Bottom”...

The silence that ensues grows a bit awkward. Bach again leers into the camera while Karen stands calmly beside him.

Sammy Bach: The Bottom... Rock Bottom. It would seem to me, Taylor, that you still don't get it. You are not comprehending. You still do not understand that I am not simply trying to take the TCW International championship away from you. No, I am trying to set you free. Free as a bird. Free as “The Fallen”. But fear keeps you hanging on, Taylor. Don't be a coward. Accept the gift I am trying to give you.

Karen Killer: A gift...

Sammy Bach: I am not easily deterred, Taylor. In fact, I can be quite stubborn. So I'll be bringing some of my friends to help me ensure you see the righteousness of my quest. Some of my... children...

Bach leers into the camera for a brief moment before walking away.

Grade: B

Kyle Rhodes: His “quest”? His “children”? Sammy Bach seems to be moving further and further away from reality.

Jason Azaria: Indeed.

James Prudence vs Edd Stone

6' + 236 lbs vs 6'1” + 215 lbs

TCW All-Action Championship Match

The familiar open strains of “Dream On” by Aerosmtih gets a pretty good pop from the crowd, as they clearly recall the wrestler who uses the music. Introduced as “James Prudence” rather than “Jimmy P”, the blond-haired middleweight gets a fairly warm reception from the Texas fans. He delivers high fives to fans on the way down to the ring, making is clear he is a “good guy” at this point. The All-Action champion comes out with his full stable of support. He tries to incite the crowd a bit with some antics, but the fans don't quite care enough about “The Bad Boy” of TCW to really get riled up.

The match features solid action, back and forth throughout so both champion and challenger look good. The pace is quick and the pair limit the spots in favor of continual movement and action. The crowd, not yet truly caring about the cruiserweights in TCW, are only moderately into the action, however. The difference in the match ends up being Stone's ringside support, as Prudence gets the better of a nice exchange of kicks, followed by Laura Huggins screeching something at the challenger. Its enough of a distraction, as Stone connects with a superkick as soon as Prudence turns back. He quick goes for a pin, which Prudence cannot kick out of as Freddy Huggins grabs onto Prudence's leg through the ropes and holds it down.

Edd Stone Wins at 9:33 via Pinfall

Unknown music plays and the fans are quiet. After a moment, Sara Silver struts out onto the stage confidently. There is only a moderate reaction – only a few fans know her from her appearances on Uprising TV. She has a microphone but waits to use it, strutting back and forth across the stage and staring disdainfully at he fans, as if basking in the music. It does a bit to establish her role as a heel before she even speaks.

Sara Silver: I realize that in your ignorance, many of you here may not know who I am. What you need to know is this – I am Sara Silver and I have an eye for talent. An eye that is respected in this business. Three months ago, Total Championship Wrestling contracted me to seek out the most talented young wrestlers in the world. That talent will come to TCW as part of Planet Silver. Tonight, you fans have the honor of seeing the first two débutantes. A team that will be the veteran backbone of Planet Silver. Two intense and physical wrestlers who taught Japan to fear a little South Pacific Island. A team that dominated the ranks in Japan's oldest and most respected promotions.

Silver trails off for a moment as the music kicks up...

Sara Silver: Total Championship Wrestling, I give you Bali So' and Rav Umaga... Samoan Violence Unlimited!

Bali So' & Rav Umaga

The pair of big Samoans emerge and stand on to the stage, flanking their manager. Their pair look intense and they are intimidating. Bali, better known in Japan as Samoan Machine, is 255 pounds of sculpted muscle. Rav Umaga is a bit shorter and with a more squat build, he is far from soft looking either. The furious look in his eyes makes him, perhaps, the more intimidating of the duo. They form a very impressive-looking pair.

Samoan Violence Unlimited vs The Cali Dragons

560 lbs total combined weight vs 415 lbs total combined weight

The Dragons get a decent little pop when they come, whether its fans recognizing them from their previous career on the indy scene or having seen the duo on Uprising TV. Unfortunately, Perez and James have the misfortune of debuting on Total Wrestling against a most formidable duo. Not only are the Samoan pair much larger, they are also more experienced as a tag team. Its not really a squash match, as the Dragons are not really dominated, in the sense that they get a fair amount of offense in... but it just doesn't affect the bigger pair much. The centerpiece of the match is Frankie Perez showing off his hard puroseau chops against Bali So', but the bigger man clearly gets the better of the exchange. Rav Umaga ends up delivering a Rhino Charge corner spear to Mike James a short time later, getting the three count for the win.

Samoan Violence Unlimited Win at 8:22 via Pinfall

Grade: C

Jason Azaria: Two need teams. Both impressive, but those Samoans.

Kyle Rhodes: Wow!

Jason Azaria: Well said, Kyle.

Joey Minnesota

Promo

“The Philly Phenom” Joey Minnesota is standing by himself on the backstage interview set. He's in his ring gear, looking intense and ready.

Joey Minnesota: You wanna challenge me, Hawkins? Accepted. I will never turn down a chance to prove you wrong one more time. See, I'm just as tired as you of the comparisons between us. Because we not the same. We are not even similar. The only thing that is we have in common is the place we occupy here in TCW right now. But how we got here.... could not be more different. While you were growing up in a big house and going to private schools in Florida, I was getting busted up on the streets of Philly. You came into this business by getting hand-picked by Tommy Cornell, trained by him, and turned into his little Tommy clone. I was brought up in the East Coast Wars, became the king of New York, and survived DaVE. There is nothing – NOTHING – that you can throw at me that I can't survive. Someday, you might figure that out.

He pauses, considering, then adds something else.

Joey Minnesota: Remember one thing, Hawkins... Your buddy Cornell isn't here for the next few weeks. So you best watch yourself...

Minnesota nods curtly at the camera and walks off the set.

Grade: A

Jason Azaria: Strong words there from Mr. Minnesota.

Kyle Rhodes: More exciting, Jason, is that we now seem to have a Minnesota-Hawkins match set for Where Angels Fear to Tread.

Jason Azaria: Indeed.

Genghis Rahn, American Buffalo & Texas Pete vs Rocky Golden, Bryan Vessey & Joshua Taylor

947 lbs total combined weight vs 830 lbs total combined weight

This one goes fairly much as the fans expect. Its not so much about which team will win – the Hellfire Club trio never get very close to taking the match – but the stories within the match. For the babyfaces, champion Rocky Golden and Bryan Vessey are on equal standing, as they have been in every tag match they've had together. Joshua Taylor takes the role of the young lion, taking guidance especially from “Shogun”. With the heel trio, the story is which of the three is the weak link... and surprisingly, its American Buffalo. The veteran monster makes poor decisions throughout the match, earning the ire of his teammates and his manager Floyd Goldworthy. The heel trio do manage to isolate Joshua Taylor for a time, working over the TCW International champion for several minutes until he makes the hot tag to Vessey, who cleans house. At this point, the match becomes a bit more interesting as Sam Keith and his two sons make their way down to ringside, standing and watching the action from up close. A short time later, world champion Rocky Golden fairly much batters Buffalo with some of his trademark power offense, following up a big stalling suplex by getting the 330-pounder up into The Rack. Joshua Taylor intercepts Rahn and Pete, with Vessey trying to do the same but he is instead tripped off the apron by Keith, who wandered around to that corner unseen. Buffalo taps out, but the referee is distracted by the ringside action. After Keith and Vessey jaw at each other for a moment, the 38-year old makes the mistake of turning away, taking a forearm to the back of the head for his troubles from the 48-year old. Referee Ray Johnson immediately calls for the bell.

Bryan Vessey Wins at 14:51 via Disqualification

Sam Keith, Greg Keith, Matthew Keith, Bryan Vessey, Rocky Golden & Joshua Taylor

Post-Match Staredown

The immediate post match is chaos. Floyd Goldworthy is quick to realize this isn't their fight any longer, and he gets the Hellfire Club trio heading towards the locker rooms, admonishing American Buffalo as they go. Vessey is trying to get at Keith, incensed over the cheap shot he received. Golden and Taylor hold Vessey back. Greg and Matthew Keith stand before their father, though its not clear if they are holding him back or simply creating a barrier. After a moment, it doesn't matter as a number of TCW staff swarm the area and separate the two groups. The tension between Keith and Vessey is obvious and its going to spill over if they aren't able to face off in the ring soon enough.

Grade: A*

Kyle Rhodes: Sam Keith. Bryan Vessey. That is a match I would love to see at Where Angels Fear to Tread.

The Tag Team Specialists vs Freedom Fighters

469 lbs total combined weight vs 540 lbs total combined weight

The crowd reaction for Ricky Dale Johnson is monstrous. The Texas fans clearly love the man dubbed “The Lone Star Hero”. The match ends up being mainly a showcase for the big Texan in his home state. The veteran tandem of Bryant and Oxford play their roles well, heeling it up as much as possible. They use a sequence of cheap tactics, from referee distractions to groin shots to double teams, to isolate Joey Minnesota. The fans remain hot, and when Minnesota finally makes the hot tag, the crowd erupts. Ricky Dale Johnson tears the Specialists apart, hammering at one and then other. The Texans love it. Its about as simple and old-school as you get for tag team action in TCW, but it works to perfection. RDJ gets the pin after delivering a South Justice choke slam to Bryant. The victors take their time celebrating, to the joy of the fans.

Troy Tornado & Rick Law

Promo

The pair of Troy Tornado and Rick Law are on the backstage interview set. Neither of the two men look impressed.

Rick Law: All I got to say is that I want my damned title shot! Stop ducking me, Rock. Prove to me you ain't a coward!

With that, Law stomps off. Tornado is left by himself. Which isn't a problem for “Hollywood”. He takes over, staring into the camera from behind his dark sunglasses for a long moment. Then he suddenly takes off the white sport shirt he's wearing, as if being shirtless will somehow emphasize the point he's about to make.

Troy Tornado: I could rail about the injustice of what happened at Just Another Day. Instead, I will look forward. To the future. A future so bright, I gotta wear shades. A future that holds the sequel. Cuz “Hollywood” knows there is always a sequel. See, I may have mi-sunder-estimated the epicness of your fortitude, Ino. But “Hollywood” rarely makes the same mistake twice. The Home Office has already told me the sequel is planned. Production has begun, and this won't be the same script. This time around, Ino, “Hollywood” is going to have the ending that everyone is looking forward to. A happy ending. Because Troy Tornado is all about happy endings...

“Hollywood” goes to walk off camera. Then stops, turns back to the camera, does a quick peck bounce, and then departs.

Koshiro Ino vs Eddie Peak

6'2” + 295 lbs vs 6'5” + 325 lbs

The big Japanese wrestlers gets a pretty good pop from the Texas fans when he emerges. The negative reaction for Peak is pretty huge, proving the 325-pound monster is amongst the most hated heels on the TCW roster.

When the bell rings, both men look ready for battle. It's a sign of respect from Peak that he doesn't charge at his opponent immediately, as he often does, but circles slowly and looks for an opening. Both men are powerful and capable of unleashing prodigious amounts of violence, but they both bide their time and wait for the right opportunity. When they do engage, it sets off a nice sequence of chain wrestling, as the big men exchange holds. Not quite what the fans expect, but its well done and quick-paced, so it seems to be enjoyed. This builds into a fun spot where the two men take turns throwing themselves at each other with big shoulder blocks, with neither giving much ground. Until Peak responds gets taken off his feet by a leaping shoulder block from "The Kobra", and he responds by rolling to his feet and lashing out with a big forearm shot across the face paint. Ino responds in kind and they go back forth, big forearm shot after big forearm shot. They go back and forth on it, with each shot landing and getting a pop from the crowd. It goes on and on, shot after shot, until both men stumble backward into the ropes on opposite sides of the ring. Peak grabs the ropes and stumbles into the corner, while Ino actually flips through the ropes and lands on his butt on the floor. Sensing an opportunity, “The Predator” rumbles across the ring and slides beneath the bottom rope, aiming a baseball slide right at Ino's head.... but the Japanese powerhouse moves and Peak instead slams into the security barrier. The match descends into a good old fashioned brawl, which the fans love. The pair battle outside the ring, then back in the ring, then outside the ring again. As the match nears the quarter hour mark, both men notably slow as the heavy offense of each takes its toll. They build towards a big finish, trading big suplexes and bad drops. When one competitor looks like they have the other ready to apply their finisher to, the other finds a way to reverse things. There are a couple of near falls in there as well. Peak finally goes for his Peak of Perfection cruxifix powerbomb, but Ino's bulk combine with some heel kicks at Peak's back force “The Predator” to drop Ino. After an attempted roll-up that Peak kicks out of, Ino hits a pair of big knees, then gets Peak up on his shoulders for a Burning Hammer. The fans go nuts as he hits it, smashing the 325-pound monster into the mat. The ref counts out the three along with the crowd.

There is no post-match celebration from Ino. He rolls off, wiping at the little bit of face paint he has remaining. The TCW Attendants slide in to check on both wrestlers. Peak chases them away, glaring at Ino and then howling his anger at heaven before departing. Ino gets a big reaction from the fans as he acknowledges them.

Koshiro Ino Wins at 22:04 via Pinfall

Grade: B

Not much to say on the show. Fairly straight-ahead, for the most part. The inclusion of the RDJ tag match was a last-second booking decision, based on the fact that it was set in Texas. And for those wondering about Tommy Cornell and his "suspension"... Yeah, the intent is to keep him off-screen for that month...

Also, alts! Thanks jhd1!

Good show. Ino surprises me with another win...I should stop betting against him. I like the addition of Bali and Umaga, they fit with TCW well. I'll be interested to see how any tag team gets built up to be worthy challengers of The New Wave (something I struggle with when booking TCW). I'm impressed that you're keeping Cornell off screen for the month...I like stips that mean something. It also makes the office look legit.

Just have to say I really love the music, really adds to the atmosphere :D

Thanks! Just like on Gen-S, I have fun (and agony) picking the music. Its always intended to add a little something to a character, rather than just be something that sounds good. Glad someone is enjoying the music addition, as I'm trying to pick my spots where the music is actually used. And thought I've probably done this before, a shout out to FINisher for showing me to embed it in that manner.

I've often in the past used Ino in a Jobber to the Stars role, as it seems to befit his "good but not great" skillset. Seems like its common for him to be used that way. I wanted to do a bit more with him in this game. Which isn't to say he's about to beat Rocky Golden for the title. But kept strong enough to potentially headline a pay per view is a good spot for him. I love the Japanese/puroseau element that he and a few others add. Something I want to build on.

As for Peak, I'm glad that people were picking him for the most part, as he is supposed to be TCW's resident monster. But I don't want him to be seen as unbeatable monster, except perhaps when he is focused and angry. Keep that in mind...

I so wanted to debut Bali and Rav sooner. The timing felt right here, though, and I had them working some dark matches to build a bit of overness. Bali/Samoan Machine is a guy I always wanted to use in 2008, but could never land. Now, you can land him and he's not quite as good!?! Still, damned talented. A great addition to the tag ranks, both for talent and for experience. I want TCW to have the finest tag team division possible, and the Samoans are a key part of that.

I want to say more about Cornell, but I'll bite my tongue for now...

Mark 11.0

I Spy...

Fighting a war requires having an army. But can an unhappy army be an effective one? “You cannot make everyone happy” is a simple truth. One worth remembering. One necessary to remember, perhaps. It does not always make things easier, however. Especially when the sea of discontentment begins to swell.

Fans rarely have a true understanding of what the backstage environment of a promotion can be like. I've seen comparisons to professional sports teams. Without having been part of such a team, I can't say for certain. But if if most professional sports teams somehow combine diverse personalities and backgrounds with various different internal alliances and cliques, yet all somehow focused on a similar goal, then maybe...

The problem is that in professional wrestling, those “unifying goals” are not particularly unifying. Individual goals and needs take precedence almost every time. The result is a swirling vortex of personalities, goals, desires, needs, friendships, cliques, and tensions. Personal relationships play so much into it. Personal relationships - both positive and negative - can form in any number of possible ways. Maybe a couple of guys travel together and become tight. Maybe a veteran takes a younger worker under his wing, the way Vessey has with Aaron Andrews. The opposite can happen just as easily - the veteran feels threatened by the young worker, or the young worker is resentful of the "glass ceiling" created by that veteran. No matter how good of a guy he is, someone like Wolf Hawkins is always going to be resented to a degree because of his relationship with Cornell. Same with the Keith boys because of their father. Its just human nature.

You can never be certain how people will react. TCW adding quality young talent like the Samoans, Antonio Maxi Marquez, and the Keith boys is a good thing for the promotion, as it provides more talent to go after the SWF with. In a sense, what is good for TCW should be good for all the talent. But its not, and some don't look at it that way anyway. Some see it as more competition for top spots and for TV time.

Take The Machines. Brent Hill and John Anderson are both experience veterans, guys who understand the business and are generally a positive backstage presence. They have spent a long time together in Total now, and there is really no better place for them. A strong tag team division benefits them, yet there are rumblings that they are not too happy about the new tag team additions - the Samoan pair, the tandem of Peak and Rahn, the Keith boys, plus some of the other pairings that are slowly gaining experience. The Machines lost their status of the top team in TCW when The New Wave arrived, and Hill's injury kept them from possibly reclaiming it. Now, they are looking at the additional teams and thinking their spot as the #1 heel tag team is in danger. Are they going to end up as glorified jobbers like The Tag Team Specialists, playing out their last years in the business by putting over younger talent. Its an understandable concern.

Is there anything to these "rumblings"? Therein likes the question.

Of all the many varies roles I take on here with TCW, one of the few that I do not enjoy at all - that I honestly despise - is that of spy.

Rat. Stooge. Stool pigeon. Snitch.

Call it what you want, it all comes down to the same thing.

As I sit in Cornell's office, listening to The Boss talk through things, this is what I get back - he wants me to pay attention to the "talk in the back" and report back to him and Bryant. At least I'm not being asked to be proactive in seeking out the information - simply listen and report back.

"Joel wants to debut them at the pay per view, then," Cornell told me. "It's a good idea, I think. Hold the Vessey-Keith match until Total Mayhem. Make 'em really want it!" I just nodded. Throwing my opinion out there - to support or to argue against - was a waste of breath. I wasn't being told this for approval or validation. I was being told this so I knew what was being done or at least considered.

Cornell and Bryant know that what they get from the talent is filtered. Its not always the truth. A lot of stuff is second or third hand - "this person says that person said this" - and can be twisted. There are politics involved, as everyone wants to find a way to catch the eye or the ear of those running the show. So having a few "open ears" doesn't hurt. Though I doubt they are getting the whole story regardless.

"Just wanna see if its gonna make anyone too snappy, right," Cornell nodded at me.

"Sure," I agreed. What the hell does "too snappy" mean, anyway?

"Get on it then," he ordered me, nodding at the door.

And with that, my short conversation with The Boss was over. Audience ended.

I walked out of the office not certain if I would pass along what I heard. Easy enough just to say I haven't heard anything of note. Its not like I'm one of the talent, who other workers are going to confide in. I'm just the Internet dork.

Cornell and Bryant aren't trying to keep everyone happy, I guess. Just suss out who is overtly unhappy. Would they do anything about it anyway? Or just continue on with their plans, knowing it might be making someone hate their position in the company, or hate another worker. Or just hate in general.

The irony of these concerns is that to hear Sam Keith talk, the backstage environment in Total Championship Wrestling is a social workers paradise compared to what he often experienced in the Supreme Wrestling Federation. I've heard him tell stories about the early days of his career, in the mid 90s, when guys like Bruce the Giant, Sid Streets, and even "Mr. Supreme" Dennis Butler prior to his untimely death, made the place a hell for so much of the talent. And Eisen seemed to enjoy it, often stoking the flames of discontent and controversy rather than actually trying to calm things down.

What is it like today? You hear stories from talent, passed on from friends within the SWF empire. Its not the nicest place at the moment, with good guys like Faith, Chris Morrisette, and Angry Gilmore being overridden by the likes of Brandon James, Scott Sinclair, Marat Kholov, and even Eric Eisen. Apparently, Richard Eisen's approach is simply “love it or leave it”. It's his empire and his rules. I guess I should be thankful that Cornell does not simply want to emulate Eisen. Then again, if that kept me from having to play spy....

Preview of TCW Presents Total Wrestling

Tuesday, Week 2, April 2010

Total Championship Wrestling continues to hurtle towards Where Angles Fear to Tread at the end of April. Plenty of action on tap this week.... but once again, no Tommy Cornell.

Two men who have faced each other many times in the past few years face off, as Ricky Dale Johnson takes on the 6'9", 330-pound powerhouse known as American Buffalo. The big Texan backs down from no man, but he will be wary of being trampled.

Last week, Sara Silver introduced Total Championship Wrestling to the first two members of Planet Silver - Bali So' and Rav Umaga. The Samoan duo manhandled fellow newcomers The Cali Dragons. This week, they face a slightly more established pair in Aaron Andrews and Chance Fortune - The L.A. Connection. The best tag team action in the wrestling universe is on TCW.

Sammy Bach has been promising to do two things - take the TCW International championship from Joshua Taylor and introduce his "children". Bach will do one of those things, as he will team up with his unknown "child" against Taylor and his regular partner, Koshiro Ino.

Last week, James Prudence made his return to TCW, coming up just short in a chance to Edd Stone's All-Action champion. Things don't get any easier this week. Prudence will be paired up with the top tag team in TCW, The New Wave, as the trio take on three of the biggest names in Total - Sam Keith, Rick Law, and Troy Tornado. Prudence is sure to be a target and is likely to be in for a tough night.

The main event is a non-title match between Rocky Golden and Wolf Hawkins. Perhaps in an attempt by the Home Office to show "The Prodigy" that he is better off without mentor Tommy Cornell, Hawkins will have a shot to prove himself against the current top dog in Total Championship Wrestling. Should he upset the champion, its likely that Hawkins would get a title shot somewhere down the line.

You won't want to miss out! Tune in on GNN Total Sports!

Buffalo isn´t anything spesial and shouldn´t go over RDJ here

Samoan´s have a good start and it will continue here

Mediocre big men aren't going to be getting much of push in TCW....what a mediocre big man is actually the champion ?

Samoan Violence Unlimited (Bali So' & Rav Umaga) vs The L.A. Connection (Aaron Andrews & Chance Fortune)

Samoan's seem in line for a strong initial push and the L.A Connection aren't so far up the card here to really be damaged by the loss.

Burning Pride (Koshiro Ino & Joshua Taylor) vs Sammy Bach & ???

I'll go for Burning Pride on this, possibly by DQ...the mystery guy being called one of Sammy Bach's 'Children' sounds more like some lackey/fall guy type than someone is who going to come in with a strong push.

Sam Keith, Rick Law & Troy Tornado vs The New Wave & James Prudence

Too much star power on the heel side for The New Wave of handle, Prudence is clearly there to take the fall.

Rocky Golden vs Wolf Hawkins

Non-Title

A non title win would set up Wolf as challenger down the road, but you seem to be perservering with Golden as champion and I think you want to keep him looking strong.

Ricky Dale Johnson vs American Buffalo

As an American Buffalo fan (we actually call ourselves "Buffalo Humps") I was rocked by the Buffalo's loss to Benny Benson. It's difficult emotionally, but easy logically, to predict an RDJ win.

Samoan Violence Unlimited (Bali So' & Rav Umaga) vs The L.A. Connection (Aaron Andrews & Chance Fortune)

Samoans are on a roll.

Burning Pride (Koshiro Ino & Joshua Taylor) vs Sammy Bach & ???

I've learned my lesson: do not predict against Koshiro Ino. I agree with Tigerkinney that "Fall Children" do not sound like an unstoppable force.

Sam Keith, Rick Law & Troy Tornado vs The New Wave & James Prudence

The preview foreshadowed Prudence being the weak link. He is.

Rocky Goldenvs Wolf Hawkins

Golden already has his next challenger and keeping Golden from looking lameduck seems to be the goal. He kicked out of the Rough Ride didn't he?

Ricky Dale Johnson vs American Buffalo

This one is kind of a no-brainer, given the current storylines.

Samoan Violence Unlimited (Bali So' & Rav Umaga) vs The L.A. Connection (Aaron Andrews & Chance Fortune)

I think there's just as good of a chance you'll give the win to Andrews and Fortune here, But I'm hoping you give the Samoans a good initial push.

Burning Pride (Koshiro Ino & Joshua Taylor) vs Sammy Bach & ???

Because picking against Ino hasn't exactly worked for me here so far...

Sam Keith, Rick Law & Troy Tornado vs The New Wave & James Prudence

I agree with TK here. Jimmy P is here to take the fall.

Rocky Golden vs Wolf Hawkins

A win to keep your champ looking strong, but it'll be something that makes it seem that Hawkins could have succeeded. Botched finisher or something like that.

Huge fan of Koshiro so that is why I made this pick.

Sam Keith, Rick Law & Troy Tornado vs The New Wave & James Prudence

Sam Keith, Rick Law and Troy Tornado seem like the better put together of the two teams so I will go with them for the win.

Even though its a non-title match Rocky Golden should win this match to keep himself strong and keep his momentum going.

Ricky Dale Johnson vs American Buffalo - RDJ's quasi-aimlessness continues!

Samoan Violence Unlimited (Bali So' & Rav Umaga) vs The L.A. Connection (Aaron Andrews & Chance Fortune) - The phrase of the day is 'lambs to the slaughter.'

Burning Pride (Koshiro Ino & Joshua Taylor) vs Sammy Bach & ??? - I expect Bach's partner not to be anybody major and whoever the newcomer is, he'll be the one taking the fall.

Sam Keith, Rick Law & Troy Tornado vs The New Wave & James Prudence - Hey Jimmy, you're in a match with people way above your paygrade. Guess why?

Rocky Golden vs Wolf Hawkins - By countout when somebody attacks Golden.

American Buffalo vs Ricky Dale Johnson

6'9” + 330 lbs vs 6'4” + 295 lbs

This is a match that has taken place many many times over the past few years. Although RDJ has been able to draw some very solid matches out of the big man, Buffalo has rarely come up on the winning end. They do tend to be entertaining brawls, and this one fits right in. No one really expects Buffalo to win, and he never really looks close to it. He does manage to get in some offense and do some damage to the sturdy Texan. Particularly when they are outside the ring. Even interference by Floyd Goldworthy can't turn it Buffalo's favor. RDJ gets the three count after a slightly-awkward Southern Justice Nadowa choke slam.

Ricky Dale Johnson Wins at 12:54 via Pinfall

Grade: B-

Jason Azaria: Here's a little fact you may not know... American Buffalo has beaten Ricky Dale Johnson four times.

Kyle Rhodes: But not once by pinfall or submission, if I recall correctly.

Jason Azaria: You certainly do. Most of those involved some degree of interference. And usually by Tommy Cornell

Kyle Rhodes: Who thankfully is not here tonight. Or the rest of this month.

Wolf Hawkins & Jasmine Saunders

Backstage Promo

“The Prodigy” Wolf Hawkins is on the interview set with Jasmine Saunders. The young man does not look impressed.

Jasmine Saunders: I'm here with Wolf Hawkins. Last week, Wolf, you challenged Joey Minnesota to a match at Where Angels Fear to Tread. He not only accepted but called you...

Jasmine slowly trails off when she meets the hard glare that Hawkins is giving her. A most uncomfortable glare.

Wolf Hawkins: A clone? Is that what you were going to say, Saunders? That's what Minnesota called me. But I'm no clone. I've learned from the very best, but I am my own man. A very dangerous man, who needs to be respected. Minnesota is going to remember after the pay per view. Tonight, I'm going to teach it to Rocky Golden.

Jasmine Saunders: Speaking of your match with the TCW World Heavyweight champion Rocky Golden... Oh, hey...

The interview trails off, looking off screen. Hawkins turns his head to follow her gaze and he looks surprised too. Then the source of their surprise comes onto the screen...

Cornell looks into the camera, switching on his trademark sneer. There is genuine shock on the faces of Saunders and Hawkins.

Wolf Hawkins: Tommy!?! You're not supposed to be here!

“Rough Justice” levels his fearsome steely gaze at his protege, staring him down. Cornell steps forward as he gets right up into Hawkins face.

Tommy Cornell: Don't ever tell me what to do.

Wolf Hawkins: Sorry, I... I just meant... I wasn't expecting to see you here. You know, the Home Office...

Tommy Cornell: I came here to support you tonight, and this is the thanks I get, Wolf?

Another sneer, and Cornell turns and stalks away. Hawkins gives a dirty look – undeserved – to Saunders, and then turns to follow. Saunders is left on set by herself. She looks at the camera, struggling to find something to say. Finally, she just shakes her head and makes a “cut” gesture.

Kyle Rhodes: How did Cornell get into the building? Someone get security. Now!

The L.A. Connection vs Samoan Violence Unlimited

469 lbs total combined weight vs 560 lbs total combined weight

The two teams get surprisingly good reactions from the fans. The match itself is basically a longer version of the Samoans debut from the previous week – the Connection get in quite a bit of offense, but with the power, resilience, and teamwork of the Samoans dominates the match. Andrews and Fortune make a good attempt, but they just really have no way of inflicting significant damage on the Planet Silver tandem. Fortune gets isolated and pounded for a bit, but the sequence doesn't last long before he manages to tag in Andrews. “Ace” tries going shot for shot with Umaga, but “Rhino” takes the better of it. The Connection pair end up kicking out of several pin attempts through the middle portion of the match. The man heads into the end sequence as Chance Fortune drops a top rope elbow onto the head of Bali.... which doesn't phase the Samoan in the least and just leaves him grinning. The match moves towards its end with some great teamwork, as referee Eugene Williams weakly tries to tell them only one should be in the ring at a time, leading up to a Rhino Charge by Umaga, which gets the pinfall win.

Samoan Violence Unlimited Win at 12:57 via Pinfall

Jason Azaria: Another impressive win by Samoan Violence Unlimited.

Benny Benson

Video

A TCW rarity is shown – a taped video promo. This one shows Benny Benson sitting by himself in a darkened locker room. He is leaning forward, a rather intense look of angst on his face. “Captain Excitement” come across as anything but, his eyes toward the floor as he begins to speak.

Benny Benson: I've known people like you my whole life, Peak. Bullies. Gutless bullies. I've known your type when I was a kid back in Canada. I known your type everywhere else I've wrestled. And Peak... I have never been scared of bullies.

Benson slowly, dramatically, looks up at the camera.

Benny Benson: See, your type always picks out the weak kids. The small kids. Those who won't fight back. You chose poorly this time, Peak. I'm not the weak kid. I'm not scared or intimidated. I may still be isolated here in TCW, but I won't back down. You picked me to play your “game” with... but you can't win. I won't be bullied.

Benson stares hard into the camera, before it cuts away.

Eddie Peak, Genghis Rahn, American Buffalo, Floyd Goldworthy & Jasmine Saunders

Backstage Promo

Eddie Peak and the rest of the Hellfire Club are on the backstage interview set with Jasmine Saunders. The interviewer looks more than a little bit intimidated.

Jasmine Saunders: Now, Eddie, you just saw the comments from Benny Benson. But before we get to that, last week, you lost to Koshiro Ino...

Eddie Peak: I have no desire to talk about the past, woman. What is done is done. Ino will pay, but right now, my focus is on other things.

Peak pauses, leering into the camera maniacally. The man sells crazy very well.

Eddie Peak: A bully? You call me a bully, Benson? Yeah, I'm a bully. But I'm not looking to steal your milk money. This game doesn't end with you getting beat up after school. This game ends with your career coming to a bitter and painful closure at my hands. My blood-soaked hands. Our game will have to wait, however... I have some other things to take care of.

Jasmine Saunders: Can you confirm that the coming pay per view, you...

Eddie Peak: I'm not finished, woman. Keep your questions. I have business to take care of it... Business with....

Peak turns to face American Buffalo. He points at his Hellfire Club stablemate.

Eddie Peak: ...you...

American Buffalo: What? I...

Buffalo has no chance to say anything further as Peak's right hand smashes into his face. Peak follows that up with a series of clubbing blows, keeping Buffalo off balance. As the 6'9” monster stumbles backward, Peak uses the space to unleash an animalistic spear that levels his former associate. He then begins to unleash a series of blows while still atop the big man.

Genghis Rahn watches with a apparent disinterest, while Floyd Goldworthy has a look of horror on his face, ready to run. Saunders watches for a moment before she hurries away, hollering for security.

Grade: B+

Kyle Rhodes: I do believe that American Buffalo was just invited to leave the Hellfire Club.

Jason Azaria: Indeed. Here's a fact you may not know... American Buffalo's fans call themselves “Buffalo Humps”.

Kyle Rhodes: I was not aware he had fans.

Burning Pride vs Sammy Bach & ???

543 lbs total combined weight vs 450 lbs total combined weight

The babyface duo emerge first, getting a nice reception from the fans. They emerge together, to Pride by Soil. Then Sammy Bach comes out with Karen Killer at his side, but with no sign of his unnamed partner. "The Fallen" and his manager make their way down to the ring. Bach climbs in, staring distrustfully at Taylor and Ino. Then, with a wicked grin and a dramatic flourish, he drops to one knee and points at the entrance at the top of the ramp....

As soon as the music hits, there is a reaction from some segments of the arena, as the music is recognizable even before the wrestler emerges...

http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k235/Bigpapa42_2006/Wrestling/TCW/Workers/Hired%20Alt%20Small/Acid_alt9Small.jpg

Acid

The wrestler who emerges onto the ramp is one of the most unique-looking in professional wrestling. Known as "Acid", he is 5'6" tall but a very sturdy 225 pounds. He is built like a pro football running back. But it is his look, not his build, that is memorable. His entire head is covered by a full mask, the same distinctive design he has wore for the better part of a decade. It is hard to tell where the mask ends, however, as it very much blends into an upper torso that is almost completely covered in tattoos. Swooping dragons interlace with flames and tribal designs, covering his entire upper body, and his arms right down to his finger tips. Little actual skin can be seen. The artwork has become more complete since he last wrestled in America, and there is an overall Japanese texture to much of the work. The same can be said of his legs, below the baggy shorts he wears. The shorts blend in with the tattoos, much like the mask, so the effect is almost that of the wrestler wearing a body suit.

After standing motionless on the stage for a moment, Acid races down to the ring, a colorful blur moving down the ramp. He executes one of his signature ring entrances, diving through the second and third ropes and rolling to his feet with a bit of a flourish. He is introduced, with the crowd still tittering a bit. Then the match gets underway. The match is basically a showcase for Acid, showing off the breakneck quickness and head-first style that earned him the "Caustic Powerball" nickname. He throws his sturdy body around with reckless abandon. He has a great chain wrestling sequence with Taylor, and later goes chop-for-chop with Ino. Bach seems content to let Acid do much of the work, who sells beautifully and never backs down. There is little in the way of teamwork between Bach and Acid, however, whereas the Burning Pride duo manage a bit of tandem action. There is a pop from the crowd when Bach is in the ring and Ino disengages to tag in Taylor, who is calling to his face-painted partner. The two rivals circle for a moment before Bach grins and tags Acid in, generating a chorus of boos. There isn't much in the way of false finishes and the end of the match comes rather suddenly. Acid knocks Ino through the ropes and to the floor with a perfect dropkick, then leaps to the top turnbuckle and executes a leg-drop onto the Japanese wrestler. Taylor leaves his corner to check on his partner, only to get nailed by Bach with a springboard flying forearm. Taylor rolls to his feet and gets hit by several kicks from Bach, falling into the corner. Bach follows and continues to put the boots to the International champion. Referee Sam Sparrow warns Bach to get back to his corner, as neither are the legal man in the ring - that would be Ino and Acid, who are still battling out on the floor. After a seemingly endless series of kicks to the chest and face of Taylor, Sparrow calls for the bell and drags Bach off. Ino and Acid continue to battle, even as the bell rings and official separate them. In the ring, Bach celebrates as if he just won as the TCW Attendants check on the out-of-it Taylor.

Burning Pride Win at 13:54 via Disqualification

Grade: B

Kyle Rhodes: It certainly looked like Sammy Bach was more concerned with inflicting damage to Joshua Taylor than winning that match.

Jason Azaria: Indeed. However, Acid... What an addition to TCW!

Kyle Rhodes: Absolutely! I wasn't sure who to expect when Bach kept talking about his “children”. But certainly not someone as talented and experienced as Acid!

Sara Silver, Bali So' & Rav Umaga

Promo

Sara Silver emerges out onto the stage to her music, followed by the Samoan tandem. Silver sniffs her nose at the booing fans, then the trio make a line toward the ring, with the lovely manager between the two wrestlers. Silver is handed a microphone once the trio is in the ring.

Sara Silver: Last week, you fans were first introduced to Samoan Violence Unlimited. And now, you all understand what I have known since I first saw them wrestle in Japan – this team will dominate Total Championship Wrestling. They will take the TCW World Tag Team championships from The New Wave. They will destroy anyone put in front of them.

The fans boo at this promise. Silver just smirks. Her tag team look indifferent.

Sara Silver: Do you really think these two men care what you think? It is their talent and tenacity, not your support, which will carry them to certain glory. It is my management skills that will escort them along the way, not your cheers. Bali and Rav and the rest of Planet Silver who you have yet to meet are the future of Total Championship Wrestling... And the future is now...

Some more boos as Silver smirks some more.

Sara Silver: In fact, the future will happen at Where Angels Fear to Tread. After some discussions with the Head Office, my team will be facing The New Wave for the TCW World Heavyweight championships...

This draws some cheers, which quickly turns to be boos based on who emerges out onto the stage.

Brent Hill & John Anderson

The Machines rarely have much to say, but they have a microphone this time.

John Anderson: I think you are forgetting about someone... The Machines.

Sara Silver: Not forgetting... Just not caring.

John Anderson: You should care. We have a rematch with The New Wave coming at the pay per view.

Sara Silver: Had. Past tense. And you best get used to that – being the past. Because Bali and Rav are the future. You have a problem with the change, then you best take it up with the Home Office.

Silver just smirks as Hill and Anderson shake their heads and then leave the stage.

Guide, Scout & James Prudence vs Sam Keith, Rick Law & Troy Tornado

705 lbs total combined weight vs 777 lbs total combined weight

The TCW World Tag Team champions emerge to a big reaction. James Prudence comes out next, making his way down to the ring to a decent pop. Then the heel trio come out one at a time. The match gets underway, and the early going is all about the trio of heels trying to take down the tag champs. Guide and Scout are simply too experienced and neither allow themselves to get isolated, or stay in the ring for too long. They also manage some nice trademark double-team moves, including a somewhat comical sequence of double drop kicks on Tornado, who rolls to his feet right into another one, and then again. There is also a nice brawling sequence between Guide and Law, with “The Guardian Devil” getting the better of it. Prudence gets into the match only for short spurts through the first half. The second obvious weak link of his team then gets an extended run of action, but not in a positive sense, as he is isolated and punished by the heel trio. The platinum blond middleweight takes a nasty beating. He keeps battling, however. He kicks out of several pin attempts, and is saved by Guide or Scout on several others. Urged on by the fans, Prudence keeps working for that hot tag. It actually never happens. He gets laid out after Troy Tornado hits his Star Maker high velocity forearm, but before “Hollywood” can take advantage, the tag champions pour into the ring. So do Keith and Law. The melee moves out of the ring, with three heels gaining the advantage over the tag pair. Referee Sam Sparrow seems torn on whether to star the count or simply end things with a disqualification. Tornado comes back and pins Prudence, but its been long enough that he has enough to kick out. The fans cheer. A second Star Maker follows and there is no kickout this time, as Guide just misses getting back into the ring in time to make the save.

Sam Keith, Rick Law & Troy Tornado Wins at 15:22 via Pinfall

Tommy Cornell, Ricky Dale Johnson, Joey Minnesota, Joshua Taylor & Koshiro Ino

Backstage Incident

Tommy Cornell, red-faced and irate, is arguing with a veritable army of TCW staffers. The wall of faceless staff are trying to force “Mr. TCW” towards the exit behind him, but he's having none of it.

Tommy Cornell: Leave? Who the hell do you lot think you are? I don't give a good goddamn what the Home Office says! You want me out of here, you going to have to toss me!

Cornell stops suddenly, his face contorting into the familiar sneer.

Tommy Cornell: Johnson.

Ricky Dale Johnson: Tommy. Looks like we have us a little problem.

Tommy Cornell: Why don't you mind your own business, then.

Ricky Dale Johnson: Well, see now, this here is my business. You ain't supposed to be here. Which means you're leaving.

Tommy Cornell: Try and make me!

Ricky Dale Johnson just grins. Suddenly Joey Minnesota steps up beside. Then Joshua Taylor. Then Koshiro Ino. Even discounting the typically useless TCW officials involved, Cornell is suddenly badly outnumbered. And the look on his face changes as he realizes it.

Ricky Dale Johnson: No friends here, Tommy. No Syndicate. Nothing for ya. You can either walk through the door behind you, or we'll toss ya. Choice is yours.

Without any real choice left, Cornell turns and strides pridefully towards the exit. He hoofs it hard to open it and stomps out of the building.

Sam Keith, Greg Keith & Matthew Keith

In-Ring Promo

Sam Keith is in the ring, flanked by his two sons. The legend looks impatient, obviously waiting for the Cornell situation in the back to be cleared up.

Sam Keith: Bryan Vessey has asked the Home Office for the chance to face me Where Angels Fear to Tread. This afternoon, I gave the Office my answer... No.

This draws the ire of the fans, who are clearly eager to see Keith and Vessey lock up.

Sam Keith: I said no for one reason. Not because I'm scared of facing Vessey. Rather because he needs to earn it. What have you done since coming back to TCW, Vessey? In six months, who have you defeated? Eddie Peak? The Hawkins kid? Do you really think that earns you the right to face a living legend like Sam Keith?

The 48-year old superstar allows the question to hang for a moment.

Sam Keith: No, it does not. Let's be real here. I have won world championships all over the world. And you, Vessey... you are a tag team wrestler. A very fine tag team wrestler, but still... just a tag team wrestler. Five years in Japan does not change that. You are what you are. I do, however, have a solution.

Keith turns to his two sons.

Sam Keith: My two sons, Matthew and Greg, are the two most talented wrestlers in Total Championship Wrestling after myself. Someday, they will surpass even me. They need a stage to showcase their skills. You need a way to prove you are worthy to face me one-on-one, Vessey. So if you can find a partner or two, I will partner my sons and we can have ourselves a little tag match at the pay per view. Assuming you can find anyone who wants to bother with you. If you win – and you won't – then I will face you at Total Mayhem.

The fans cheer at the proposal. Anything that allows them to see Sam Keith versus Bryan Vessey in a TCW ring.

Sam Keith: Mark my words, Vessey... You will rue the day you decided to take on the Keith Clan.

The Keith trio then take their leave of the TCW ring.

Grade: B+

Jason Azaria: Now there is an interesting possible match for the pay per view! Who could Vessey find to partner with?

Kyle Rhodes: Benny Benson, perhaps? James Prudence?

Wolf Hawkins vs Rocky Golden

6'3” + 235 lbs vs 6'7” + 330 lbs

Wolf Hawkins comes out looking focused and determined. He acts as if the sea of booing fans simply do not exist. He climbs into the ring, taking his corner and bouncing from foot to foot as he waits his opponent. The fans explode with joy when Rocky Golden emerges with his girlfriend. The duo take some time getting down to the ring, high-fiving fans all the way down. Although it is not a title match, he has the TCW World Heavyweight championship, which Hawkins eyes greedily as Golden parades it around the ring.

As the bell rings, the two step into the center of the ring to stare each other down. Golden is much larger, a good four inches taller and a hundred pounds heavier. His ripped biceps are as large as Hawkins muscular thighs. “The Prodigy” is smart enough not to go for-strength against the champion, instead transitioning into some chain wrestling as soon as they lock up. Golden is able to power out. They go through it again, with the same result. Golden smiles at his opponent, clearly believing that if the mentor cannot beat him, the protege won't have a chance. Hawkins take the approach of trying to take away the big man's base, beginning to work over his legs with kicks. He specifically targets the left knee for damage. The approach is not without cost, as Hawkins can't stay out Golden's reached and ends up getting pounded with some power offense by the world heavyweight champion. Hawkins tries several times to take the champion off his feet but without success. The match goes back and forth for the opening ten minutes, with both men inflicting damage in small but certain increments. Hawkins manages to take Golden to the mat with a nice baseball slide into his left knee, at which point he begins to drop elbows to the knee, then tries for a figure four but the big champ powers out. He is moving more slowly, though. They go down to the mat again with a simple trip this time, with the same result. More damage from Hawkins before Golden can get to his feet. After he powers back to his feet, Rock hits a big shoulder block. He begins to hammer at his younger opponent with trademark power offense, but its all a bit awkward as he favors the knee that Hawkins has been working on. A big spinebuster is followed by a pin attempt, but Hawkins kicks out. He slides out of the ring in a hurry, trying to regroup. “The Tank” just waits in the ring until Hawkins has to return to avoid being counted out. The lumbering champion is moving slower than normal now, and Hawkins works to make him chase. A series of kicks that connect to the knee and to Golden's muscled torso look to take a toll. The knee gives out, putting Golden down to one knee. Grinning, Hawkins lines up his Full Moon Rising Enzuigiri kick... but its blocked by the champion, who catches the leg and swings Hawkins around, tossing him into the corner and then following with a shoulder to the gut. The knee looks to give out as Golden delivers another big spinebuster, but grimaces and keeps going. He gets Hawkins up into The Rack. It appears that everything is over for Hawkins, as few escape the feared submission rack that Golden uses only upon occasion now. Before Hawkins can tap, the match takes a sudden turn....

Rick Law gets a massive negative reception as he walks down the ramp. Rocky Golden eyes him warily, slowly loosening his hold on Hawkins. Sensing opportunity, Hawkins begins to struggle, driving his knee into the side of Golden's head until he is released. He flops to the mat, then grabs the big champion from behind and rolls him up into a schoolboy, but Rock kicks out in time. Golden lurches back to his feet, eying first his opponent who is still on the mat, looking rather spent, then at his rival Law. “The Guardian Devil” glares back defiantly. The crowd is quiet as the tension is palpable. Golden turns his attentions back to his opponent, taking a nasty little throat jab. It staggers Golden, but he counters with more big shots that seem to fold his middleweight opponent. Before Golden can take advantage, Law makes his move. He moves around to the far side of the ring, where Miss Sara is standing. The petite young woman eyes him warily as he comes closer, menacingly. Golden stops and watches, reading to jump out of the ring to intervene. Law stares up at the champion, his gaze filled with hatred. Golden stares back, completely unphazed. The distraction gives Hawkins time to recover, and he hits Golden's left knee from behind with a nasty-looking baseball slide. The champion goes down in a heap, grabbing for that knee. Hawkins begins to kick and stomp, knowing his he has to take advantage while he can. He lets loose a Full Moon Rising that doesn't quite connect cleanly, but he tries for the pin anyway. Golden powers out with typical aplomb. The champion is again distracted immediately afterward as his girlfriend letting loose a screech of fear as Law grabs at her arm but just misses. What doesn't miss is another Full Moon Rising Enzuigiri kick from Hawkins. It connects cleanly and the champion flops backward to the mat. Hawkins charges in with a pin, not only grabbing the champs tights but putting a boot up on the ropes to give better leverage. Referee Ray Johnson misses it as he counts out one... two... three... Golden powers his shoulder up, but too late. The ref calls for the bell....

Rocky Golden, Rick Law, Miss Sara & Wolf Hawkins

Post-Match

Wobbly and wounded, the champion immediately looks to ringside, where Law is still menacing Miss Sara. As Wolf Hawkins begins to celebrate his unlikely victory over the champion, Golden goes after Law. As soon as Rock hits the floor, his left knee almost gives out, but he keeps moving, shoving himself between his nemesis and his girlfriend. He shoves Law away, with the response being a big left hook to Golden's face, following by an overhand right. The combo buckles the champion. Without hesitation, Law withdraws the expendable baton he carries as a weapon. As Miss Sara begs him not to, the number one contender extends it. He holds it up, for everyone to see. Then, with a wicked grin on his mug, Law lays into the champion with the baton. The shots are forceful and look quite nasty.

Miss Sara screams for the beating to stop. In the ring, Hawkins continues to celebrate his victory, ignoring the carnage occurring at ringside. A team of TCW staffers pour to the ringside area and try to insert themselves between Law and the battered champion. The scene is chaos, as no one wants to get within swinging distance of Law. As a pair of particular brave staffers cover Golden, another pair help Miss Sara drag the 330-pounder a short distance away.

Law stalks back and forth at ringside, waving his baton and looking as if he's about to charge at the group of TCW officials who now surround Golden. Instead, he somehow ends up grabbing the TCW World Heavyweight championship belt off the timekeeper table. He holds it aloft, then disdainfully throws it down before he finally stomps back up the ramp. He stops on the stage, holding his baton in the air victoriously.

The final shot is from the back of the stage, looking out. In the foreground is Law, his back to the camera and his arm still raised. In the background is the ring, with Wolf Hawkins still standing on the second turnbuckle in celebration. Beside the ring, TCW World Heavyweight champion Rocky Golden can be seen, still being tended to.

Grade: A*

Kyle Rhodes: Wolf Hawkins just gave Rocky Golden his first loss of 2010!

Jason Azaria: And Rick Law delivered a beating that the champ is not going to forget!

Some Post-Show Thoughts

I would love to explain all the reasons I went with the Hawkins win over Golden, but it would give too much away. So I'll just say that I wanted Hawkins to take the win, but in a way that really wouldn't hurt the champion too much. Hopefully this accomplished that.

Similarly, the Cornell appearance was done for specific reasons that will become apparent down the road.

I figured using the "Fall Children" moniker would throw some people off. Don't worry - that won't be the actual name for Bach's stable. I wanted something a bit different for Acid so I went with the idea of him being covered in tats, helped by jhd1's alt.

Prudence was thrown into the six-man not really so much to be the fall guy, though he ended up doing that. It was intended more of a Japanese-style young lion inclusion (even though Prudence is no longer a young lion) where the youngster gets the rub just by showing a bit of something against the established stars.

Apologies to the Buffalo Humps (or Hump, if there is only one), but you may not enjoy the plans I have for Mr. Buffalo.
