Koshiro Ino vs Troy Tornado

Sticking with my vow to never predict against Ino again. Of course, if he loses here the vow is void. I do think that Ino needs the win to stay strong. Tornado is hot already just with his persona.

James Prudence vs Acid vs Benny Benson vs Edd Stone

Ladder Match for the TCW All-Action Championship

Tough to predict. Peak has made reference to his game with Benson not being over. Acid is with Bach. Edd has tension with Freddy. The only one who needs the title is Prudence, but I just can't see him winning. The title would add nicely to the Canadian Animals' teased break up. I'll go with Edd.

The Machines vs Total Violence Connection vs Samoan Violence Unlimited vs The New Wave

Ladder Match for the TCW World Tag Team Championships

A ladder match is a good way to get the belts off The New Wave without them actually getting beat. It's also a good way for a young team to win without making the other teams look weak, so I'll go with the Samoans.

Sammy Bach vs Joshua Taylor

TCW International Championship Match

Same reason I went against Tornado...Bach doesn't need the win to keep momentum. Taylor looks weak with the loss.

Sam Keith, Greg Keith & Matthew Keith vs Bryan Vessey & Ricky Dale Johnson

I feel like the Vessey-Keith match at Total Mayhem is inevitable and I like the build.

Joey Minnesota vs Wolf Hawkins

Hawkins is the next World Title contender (though Law may challenge again at Total Mayhem)...also sets up an interesting dynamic with Cornell.

Rick Law vs Rocky Golden

TCW World Heavyweight Championship Match

Golden retains, but something will stretch this. Law says he's not after Miss Sara, but is he honest?

Koshiro Ino vs Troy Tornado

Ino won the first, Troy levels their series here to set up a rubber match next time out

James Prudence vs Acid vs Benny Benson vs Edd Stone

Ladder Match for the TCW All-Action Championship

Benny is on the way down, Edd is just too inconsistent, and James is (in my eyes) not good enough for the big leagues

The Machines vs Total Violence Connection vs Samoan Violence Unlimited vs The New Wave

Ladder Match for the TCW World Tag Team Championships

First they are my fave team, second there are three top heel teams here and just the New Wave as faces - so makes an interesting dynamic to have the heels bickering to face them again

Sammy Bach vs Joshua Taylor

TCW International Championship Match

If his fall children win, then Sammy has to - or he loses their respect.

Sam Keith, Greg Keith & Matthew Keith vs Bryan Vessey & Ricky Dale Johnson

The Vessey - Keith match has already been too hyped to not happen

Joey Minnesota vs Wolf Hawkins

Like the Ino-Tornado match, Wolf lost at the 1st PPV, so he gets the series-levelling win here - and sets up a world title shot. Now that might not sit well with the returning Tommy, who will also no doubt want another shot at Rocky

Rick Law vs Rocky Golden

TCW World Heavyweight Championship Match

Well you've already said you want to try and keep the title on Rocky for a while, and Rick, although decent, isn't the man to move the title onto (although saying that, he was the man in my long ago TEW08 TCW diary who beat Tommy for the title) Most of the main challengers are again heels, so keeping the face champ makes sense.

I do sense that the story with Miss Sara might take a turn for the worse after the match though...

Koshiro Ino vs Troy Tornado

Tornado wins this via dubious circumstances, setting up a rubber match between the two next month, depending on who is still holding the world title at that stage will determine who ultimately wins the feud.

James Prudence vs Acid vs Benny Benson vs Edd Stone

Ladder Match for the TCW All-Action Championship

Benson is going to be distracted by Eddie Peak, just don't buy into Prudence as being good enough to hold the belt right now and as Rob said, can you really rely on Edd Stone...so why not put the belt on the best worker in the match...Acid.

The Machines vs Total Violence Connection vs Samoan Violence Unlimited vs The New Wave

Ladder Match for the TCW World Tag Team Championships

This just seems like the sort of scenario where the belts would change hands, putting them back on The Machines would just be a re-tread and Total Violence don't really need titles to get their whole psychotic monster schtik over...so the Samoan's continue their hot start.

Sammy Bach vs Joshua Taylor

TCW International Championship Match

Lots of title changes tonight, as Bach makes 2-0 for 'The Fallen'

Sam Keith, Greg Keith & Matthew Keith vs Bryan Vessey & Ricky Dale Johnson

It's the classic odds stacked against the babyfaces scenario. Both Vessey and RDJ are over enough for the fans to buy into them going over, plus they already have feuds lined up which will need them to keep their momentum. This won't hurt the Keith Boys because they have yet to really build their rep in TCW.

Joey Minnesota vs Wolf Hawkins

Hawkins recently got a non title win over Golden, so I expect him to stay strong here, there also seems to be some seeds being sown for possible dissention with his mentor Tommy Cornell, so it also appears to be that we are seeing the beginnings of Hawkins push to break out from being Cornell's lap-dog.

Rick Law vs Rocky Golden

TCW World Heavyweight Championship Match

Interesting to see how this match rates, if you get a B+ out of these two then you should be very satisifed, as both are more what could be considered to be 'carriable' opponents, rather than one's who can carry an opponent to a great match. Anyway I'll stump for Law not to be the one to end Golden's reign, all you would be doing is shifting the belt onto a slightly better heel version of what you already have holding the gold.

<p>Thanks for all the predictions thus far. Appreciate them all. Do have to say that I love some of the logic that people use to make their picks. Just love seeing people's line of thinking and how it corresponds with my booking logic (which is kinda hypocritical of me, since I rarely explain my picks anymore in other diaries - sorry!). </p><p> </p><p>

The goal is to have the show done by the end of the weekend, but we'll see how it goes.</p>

Koshiro Ino vs Troy Tornado

I really like both guys but I go with Hollywood here

James Prudence vs Acid vs Benny Benson vs Edd Stone

Ladder Match for the TCW All-Action Championship

I could see Acid or Benson taking the title here but wtih Acid being Bach´s hencman and Benson having trouples with Peak I presume that Stone will held his title this time.

The Machines vs Total Violence Connection vs Samoan Violence Unlimited vs The New Wave

Ladder Match for the TCW World Tag Team Championships

Any of these teams could well be the champs but that ladder stipulation seems to play it for the New Wave favour.

Sammy Bach vs Joshua Taylor

TCW International Championship Match

Bach seems to get more TV time currently so I could see a title change here.

Sam Keith, Greg Keith & Matthew Keith vs Bryan Vessey & Ricky Dale Johnson

I believe that the number advantage is enough to turn this one to Keith´s

Joey Minnesota vs Wolf Hawkins

I just like Hawkins more

Rick Law vs Rocky Golden

TCW World Heavyweight Championship Match

I doubt that Law would be the guy who takes title away from Golden

Koshiro Ino vs Troy Tornado - One win each, sets up a rubber match for the next PPV.

James Prudence vs Acid vs Benny Benson vs Edd Stone - I can see Stone and Huggins possibly feuding over the belt somewhere down the line, so I think Edd takes this one. After Peak takes Benson out of the equation.

Ladder Match for the TCW All-Action Championship

The Machines vs Total Violence Connection vs Samoan Violence Unlimited vs The New Wave - Really not sure on this one, but I can see Benson 'returning the favour' and costing TVC the opportunity to win, allowing SVU to grab the straps while The New Wave and The Machines are brawling on the outside. That way New Wave lose the straps without really losing, setting up a feud between them and the Samoans.

Ladder Match for the TCW World Tag Team Championships

Sammy Bach vs Joshua Taylor - Bach has been on waaay too much of a role to lose this one.

TCW International Championship Match

Sam Keith, Greg Keith & Matthew Keith vs Bryan Vessey & Ricky Dale Johnson - They need to win to set up the Vessey-Keith bout and to give RDJ some momentum for his upcoming clash with Tommy. I think Vessey takes the win over one of the Keith boys.

Joey Minnesota vs Wolf Hawkins - I get the feeling that wolf is going to be the next TCW champ, setting up some tension and eventually a feud with Tommy.

Rick Law vs Rocky Golden

TCW World Heavyweight Championship Match - I can't see Law taking the belt when there are heel challengers like Tornado, Hawkins etc waiting in the wings.

Rising Toward the Stars...

The pay per view broadcast starts with the TCW logo on a black background. This fades into a shot of the familiar confines of the Nevada State Armoury. The capacity crowd is amped up and loud. There are several shots of the crowd as the theme song for the event begins, with the picture fading into a montage. It starts with some of the biggest moments in HGC/TCW history, then highlights the workers involved in the show. About halfway through, it begins to focus on Tommy Cornell and TCW World Heavyweight champion Rocky Golden. It shows “Rough Justice” celebrating each of his five world title victories. Then is shows Golden winning the title and showing his defenses... Its unclear if the video is celebrating the continuation of Rocky Golden's title reign... or the end of it...

Jason Azaria: Bringing you the very best in professional wrestling, this is... Total Championship Wrestling! I am Jason Azaria, and with me is my broadcast partner, Kyle Rhodes.

Kyle Rhodes: Good evening to one and all. We are set for a big night here in Wyoming for Where Angels Fear to Tread. Let's get things started.

The show starts with a slick highlight video, set to the events theme song. It highlights the big stars and the main feuds of the pay per view. Notably, the only time Tommy Cornell features in the video is near the end, when a few moments from his match against Rocky Golden are shown, notably a slow motion shot of him taking the champions Rocky Road finisher and getting pinned clean. The final shot of the video is Rocky Golden, holding his TCW World Heavyweight championship belt aloft, with his girlfriend Miss Sara by his side.

Koshiro Ino vs Troy Tornado

6'2” + 295 pounds vs 6'2” + 237 pounds

The night starts off with a match the feels fairly big. Koshiro Ino obviously feels that way, as he emerges wearing his traditional samurai armor that he reserves for big fights. Ino looks calm and focused as he gets to the ring, posing for the fans in the very cool looking armor. He begins to remove it as Troy Tornado's theme music hits. The fans cheers to boos in an instant. Tornado is at this strutting, preening best as he makes his way down to the ring. He is basically dripping with tangible confidence. He gets to the ring, sneering at his opponent before circling the ring and posing. The whole procedure does its job of riling the fans up further. "The Kobra" stands in the ring and waits.

When the match gets underway, Tornado refuses to engage. Several times, he gets set to lock up and then dances away. When he finally does engage, he quickly spins out and lays a heavy chop into Ino's chest. The big Japanese wrestler doesn't look impressed, but he also doesn't look hurt. They repeat, with the same chop from Tornado... except Ino chops right back. They go back and forth, chop after chop. Ino's chest chops are notoriously stiff and nasty - often called his "Kobra Bites" - and Tornado clearly takes the worse of the exchange that has the crowd buzzing. The action finally gets underway and Ino controls the early going. Tornado works to find a way to take back the momentum, but finds himself cut off and battered by "The Kobra". So "Hollywood" cheats. A quick kick to the groin slows Ino down enough. Tornado takes control, working over the face-painted warrior with his quick and diverse offense. Several times, Ino begins to battle back but Tornado keeps cutting him off with cheap tactics. Referee Eugene Williams even spots some of them but does no more than warn "Hollywood". The crowd is sternly behind Ino, and he does manage to battle back, ducking under a diving forearm from Tornado and hitting a big shoulder block. The painted warrior finds his energy and begins to hammer on his smaller opponent. He looks to be heading toward the victory again, getting Tornado up for his Burning Hammer... but Tornado smartly pokes the big man in the eye. Tornado just gets dropped instead of having his head smashed into the mat. While Ino is reeling, Tornado works to take advantage, He comes hard off the ropes and delivers his Star Maker forearm to the back of Ino's head. He quickly goes for the pin but “The Kobra” has enough to kick out. Tornado puts his boot into Ino's groin again... twice... Somehow Ref Williams misses both due to poor positioning, though its hard to miss Ino's pained reaction. Tornado takes advantage, leaping up to the top turnbuckle and delivering his Super Star Maker forearm to the side of the big man's head. He rolls him up for the pin, grabbing Ino's trunks to make sure he has enough leverage to get the three count.

Tornado begins to celebrate the win immediately. Ino picks himself up. He doesn't bother to argue with the ref, though the big Japanese warrior does look disappointed. After a moment, Ino offers his hand to Tornado in respect. “Hollywood” stares at it for a moment... then walks away. Beneath his smeared face paint, Koshiro Ino wears a steely expression.

Troy Tornado Wins at 17:21 via Pinfall

Grade: B

Kyle Rhodes: So has Troy Tornado earned a shot at the TCW World Heavyweight championship then?

Jason Azaria: I'm not certain, Kyle. Perhaps?

Kyle Rhodes: What happens if his friend Rick Law wins it tonight?

Jason Azaria: Quite a conundrum.

James Prudence vs Acid vs Benny Benson vs Edd Stone

TCW All Action Championship Ladder Match

6'' + 236 lbs vs 5'6” + 225 lbs vs 5'10” + 215 lbs vs 6'1” + 215 lbs

The ringside area is littered with a number of ladders. The TCW All-Action championship is hanging ten feet above the ring. Prudence comes out first, wasting little time. Then Acid, escorted by both Karen Killer and Sammy Bach. Benny Benson comes out by himself, as expected. Finally, the All Action champion comes out for the match with his full retinue. The match is exciting and full of action, if a touch spotty. Those watching at ringside also get involved repeatedly, but there is little the referee can do. Prudence and Benson actually show a bit of teamwork a few times, but it doesn't last, as they both covet the belt hanging above the ring. Acid looks particularly dangerous, as his all-out style works very well in the ladder match and he is unafraid to put himself at risk. He makes several big dives, but manages to avoid damaging himself too much in the process. The champion Stone takes a ton of damage, being the focus of all three challengers. At about the ten minute mark, Prudence tips over a ladder in the middle of the ring that Stone is trying to climb, sending “The Bad Boy” flying over the top ring and the floor below, right at the feet of his tag team partner, manager, and bodyguard, who all stare in horror. Stone is effectively out of the match after that. A short time later, Prudence is taken out when he takes a superkick from Sammy Bach outside the ring. Its then down to Benson and Acid. They battle, up and down several ladders but neither really able to gain the advantage long enough to set up a ladder, climb it, and retrieve the belt. The end sequence is face-desperation, as they throw each other about the ring, smashing into the ladders. Both try for their finishers and can't connect things. Acid pulls off an incredibly athletic and unique move, as he dives between the middle ropes and onto a ladder outside the ring that is leaning against he security barrier, running halfway up the ladder before leaping and twisting to grab the ropes and springboard into his Acid Rain Bomb. It takes Benson by surprise. When he's down on the mat, Acid begins to attack “Captain Excitement” with a ladder, using the aluminum ladder as a weapon. Benson rolls out of the ring to try to escape but Acid simply follows. More battering with the ladder before Acid simply throws the ladder on top of Benson. One of the ladder tangles in the security barrier and Sammy Bach casually puts his foot on the other end, trapping Benson beneath it. That allows Acid the time he needs to set up a ladder and climb to the top. Stone and Prudence are both just beginning to stir as Acid unhooks the belt and becomes the new TCW All Action champion.

After the loss, Freddy and Laura Huggins console Edd Stone, while Prudence and Benson chat as they move away from the ring.

Acid Wins at 14:01 via Item Retrieval

Jason Azaria: And we have a new All Action champion!

Kyle Rhodes: With a bit of an assist from Sammy Bach.

Jason Azaria: Indeed.

Sammy Bach vs Joshua Taylor

TCW International Championship Match

5'10" + 225 lbs vs 6'3” + 248 lbs

Bach gets plenty of hate from the fans as he comes down to the ring. He is not alone, however, as not only his manager Karen Killer is there with him, but also the new All Action champion, Acid. The trio could have simply stayed ringside after the previous match, but that lacks the drama of coming out to Bach's theme music. The TCW International champion earns a pretty good pop.

The match starts quickly, with some fast-paced chain wrestling. There is a fairly unique sequence of arm drag and his toss exchanges that somehow just works and the fans clearly enjoy. Bach then decides to disengage and run, making the champion chase. Taylor doesn't do too much chasing, as he knows that he has to be beaten to lose the belt. Several times, “The Fallen” leaves the ring to confer with Killer and Acid. Bach then begins to use his quickness to stay one step ahead of the champion, moving rapidly as he launches offensive moves and gets away from the attempted counter by Taylor. Its an approach that works, as the the challenger begins to take over the match. Bach begins to work some of his trademark kicks and “The American Samurai” looks to be in some trouble. He kicks out of several quick pin attempts by the challenger. Taylor begins his comeback when he actually catches an attempted roundhouse kick by Bach, and pops the challenger hard in the mouth. Taylor puts together a nice sequence of offense, including several suplexes. Bach tries to run, then surprises the champion with a springboard spin kick to head. An immediate pin attempt sees the champion kick out again. Frustrated, “The Fallen” begins to stomp on the champion in a rather vicious manner as Taylor lies prone as Killer screams her encouragement outside the ring. Referee Sam Sparrow tells the challenger to stop, then warns, then actually physically drags him away. Pining Bach in the corner, Sparrow delivers a stern lecture on listening to the official. While this is going on, Acid strikes. Hes scrambles onto the apron and up to the top turnbuckle in a flash, then delivers an Acid Rain Bomb swandive senton bomb to Taylor, and slides out of the ring. It happens in a blink and Sparrow misses it entirely. Bach goes back to work after Sparrow finishes with him, delivering an Adrenaline Shot flying flip neckbreaker, and then locking on his Bach on your Back bodylock reverse sleeper. It looks to be over... but Taylor battles and makes it to the rope. Bach is livid, delivering a wicked Enzuigiri kick and a top rope elbow before he sets up his The Fall finisher, getting huge air on the springboard corkscrew moonsault. He goes for the pin and Taylor in unable to kick out. With a big assist from Acid, Sammy Bach is the new TCW International champion. He looks pleased, but he doesn't do much celebrating.

Total Violence Connection vs Samoan Violence Unlimited vs The Machines vs The New Wave

TCW World Tag Team Championship Ladder Match

600 lbs total combined weight vs 560 lbs total combined weight vs 490 lbs total combined weight vs 470 lbs total combined weight

The duo of Eddie Peak and Genghis Rahn are the first team to be introduced, both looking ready for some violence. They are followed by The Machines, who wear their trademark calm and unshakable demeanor. They climb into the ring, and both Peak and Rahn *move toward them, as if to attack, but referee Ray Johnsn keeps them at bay. He has to try even harder as Bali So' and Rav Umaga come down to the ring with their manager, Sara Silver. When the ever-popular TCW World Tag Team champions Guide and Scout emerge and make their down to the ring, there's no holding Peak and Rahn back. The two go after the champions before they can even climb into the ring. As if realizing what a mess this is going to be, the ref calls for the bell.

The match is a chaotic in a way that only a four-way tag team ladder match really can be. Its constant action, especially in the early going - a swirling cacophony of bodies crashing into each other, bodies crashing into ladders, ladders crashing into ladders... all in hopes of grabbing the two title belts suspended above the ring. Some things become obvious quite early into the match – Eddie Peak is utterly fearless, the duo of Bali So' and Rav Umaga are impressively powerful, The Machines seem rather content to lie back a bit and allow the other three teams to wear each other down, and the teamwork of the New Wave is off the charts. Whereas the other teams all separate to some degree, Guide and Scout rarely move far apart, using their familiarity and perfectly timing to inflict an ever-increasing amount of damage. The Samoan pair are almost as impressive, as they work well together and they are vicious. The action – and damage inflicted – amps up as the match passes a dozen minutes. Peak uses a ladder as a weapon to take everyone – including his own partner, inadvertently. This leads to several near-finishes, as different wrestlers manage to make it up a ladder in the ring before being taken out in some manner. Genghis Rahn has a great opportunity to win it, but it becomes apparent once he's halfway up the ladder that he doesn't much like heights. He basically freezes there. Umaga comes up the ladder underneath him, and Rahn somehow ends up on Umaga's back, still too afraid to do much. The big Samoan turns the long-haired brawler sideways and delivers a big Samoan Drop from halfway up the ladder. Both New Wavers are back and mobile by this point, and the begin to work together again to defend their titles. Eddie Peak takes a huge bump, as he sets up a ladder beside the one that Guide is on, inside the ring. The two battle, both making it to the top of their respective ladders. John Anderson sets up another one, slightly further away. With Scout beginning to tip the ladder he's on, Peak makes a daring leap onto the top of the ladder set up by Anderson. Scout scales the ladder his partner is on, and slingshots his partner into a daring drop kick that sends Peak flying off the top of the ladder, over the top rope, and landing hard on the time keeper table. The table explodes. With Peak out of action, and Rahn brawling with both Samoans, its down to the two top teams in TCW facing each other in the ring. They go at it, and the teamwork of the New Wave is simply too much. They get the advantage, and make it count when they throw Hill over the top rope and onto the trio battling on the floor. Then they hit a tandem facebuster on Anderson, following it up by each going halfway up a ladder so they can get massive elevation for their Wave of Mutilation tower legdrop finisher. Guide then fights offf the trio of Hill, Bali, and Umaga while Scout makes it to the top of the ladder and retrieves the belts.

Bryan Vessey & Ricky Dale Johnson vs Sam Keith, Greg Keith & Matthew Keith

547 lbs total combined weight vs 705 lbs total combined weight

The two fan favorites come out first, individually. They both get some big pops from the fans. Then Sam Keith comes out with his two sons in tow, to the legends legendary entrance music. The twins are exactly the same size as their father, so its really like seeing triple. Only one of the three happens to be nearly 50 years old.

They tease the fans to start the match, with Bryan Vessey and Sam Keith squaring off. They circle, wary and cautious. They never actually engage, as Keith smiles as he steps back into his families corner and tags in one of his sons. Its Greg, and he locks up briefly with Vessey before “Shogun” emulates Keith – not in a flattering way – by backing away and tagging in Ricky Dale Johnson. Then the young Keith tags in his father again. The veteran Keith willingly locks up with RDJ and the match finally gets underway properly. The early going is solid back-and-forth tag team action. Neither team really holds the advantage for long and there are plenty of tags. The sequence really works to establish that the young Keith boys belong in that ring. It actually becomes almost as tough to distinguish them from their father as each other when they are in action, as they have exactly the same build, the same blond hair, and the same quick fluid style. When Greg and Matthew get going, they are a blond blur, much as their father was in his prime and is still capable of being at times. The twins also show some decent teamwork, though they are far off from The New Wave in that regard just yet. Around the ten minute mark, Sam hits a Keith Atomic Drop on RDJ and begins a long sequence of isolation where the Keith family try to destroy “The Lone Star Hero”. The sequence goes a bit over long and they tease the hot tag a few too many times, but the fans seem to enjoy the drama. Sam delvers his trademark chop sequence in the corner, riling up the crowd as he lays into the former champions chest. RDJ kicks out of repeated pin attempts, then suddenly hits a bit Leaping Lariat out of nowhere on Matthew Keith. After teaing him not being able to get to his corner one more time, he actually makes the tag and Vessey comes in roaring. He batters Matthew, and then very deliberately allows the youngster to tag out, staring hard at Sam Keith. “The Living Legend” steps into the ring as the fans titter. And then the two veterans lock up. They have a great technical sequence of holds and reversals, then Keith makes the mistake of laying into a chest chop. Vessey responds with a big elbow. They go back and forth, until both men drop to a knee. One of the Keith twins tries to get involved at this point, but RDJ jumps in and ends up brawling with both twins out on the floor as Vessey and Keith continue their battle. The fans love it and the two men deliver, going back and forth. Keith actually takes the advantage with some of his dirty tricks and begins to control things with some mat work. Vessey powers his way out and tags in RDJ. The match goes back to standard tag action, despite being three-on-two. Then as Greg Keith is in the ring against Vessey, the youngster makes a mistake. He does well enough against “Shogun”, but he emulates his father and goes for the trademark sequence of chest chops in the corner. Vessey takes about two of them before responding with a big elbow followed up by a back drop. He begins to work over the 20-year old, delivering several suplexes and another huge back drop. Vessey eyes Sam Keith as he punishes the man's child, the communication clear. Matthew Keith jumps in illegally to try to save his brother and takes a similar beating from Vessey. When Sam Keith steps in, so does RDJ. The match threatens to break down into chaos, but RDJ spears Sam Keith right out of the ring. The Keith boys try to double team Vessey but that doesn't last long before Vessey reverses things. Matthew rolls out of the ring to help his father, leaving the two legal men in the ring. A Vessey Line leaping forearm smash is followed by a Vessey Plex and then finally a Vessey Driver. “Shogun” goes for the pin and gets the three count right as Sam Keith slides into the ring to try to save his son.

Sam Keith, Greg Keith, Matthew Keith, Bryan Vessey & Ricky Dale Johnson

Post-Match Chaos

Bryan Vessey gets no time to celebrate as Sam Keith nails him with a big knee as he tries to stand up after the pinfall. “The Living Legend” begins to viciously assault his rival. He takes a second to direct his son Greg to go help his brother, who is brawling outside the ring still with Ricky Dale Johnson and the youngster is taking the worst of it. RDJ gets waylayed by Greg hitting a nice baseball slide to the outside. The referee tries to separate Keith from Vessey but gets shoved out of the way – if this was an actual match, that would be a disqualification.

This is no match, however. As the twins work over RDJ outside the ring, Sam Keith locks on his Neutron Plex inside the ring. Vessey roars in pain.

Keith is forced to break the hold as the referee is joined by a number of TCW staffers in the ring, who force “The Living Legend” to give up the legendary hold. They also separate the Keith twins from RDJ. The two 20 year olds yell at the veteran Texan, who grins and gives them both the finger, getting a huge pop from the fans.

Grade: A

Kyle Rhodes: Sam Keith not exactly showing his sons how to be a good loser.

Jason Azaria: No, not so much sportsmanship there. But we do have our first match set for Total Mayhem 15!

Wolf Hawkins vs Joey Minnesota

6'3” + 235 lbs vs 6'2” + 245 lbs

“The Prodigy” Wolf Hawkins comes out first, to his Metallica entrance music. He pauses on the stage for a moment, looking at the entrance like he is about to be joined by his mentor, Tommy Cornell. No one emerges. Hawkins grins at the ruse as the fans boo, then he makes his way down to the ring. Joey Minnesota, Philly's favorite son according to Rhodes, comes out to a big positive reaction from the adoring fans.

Hawkins does not even allow the match to get underway, because as soon as Minnesota is at ringside and not looking, “The Prodigy” dives through the ropes onto his rival and begins to pummel him. Referee Ray Johnson shakes his head and calls for the bell. The two young stars almost get counted out twice as they wage their war in and out of the ring. The early going is all brawling, as both men try punish each other. They make liberal use of the ringside obstacles to damage each other. It begins to look as though it might make for a short match. Near the ten minute mark, Hawkins bounces Minnesota's head off the ring post outside the ring, then grabs a chair from beneath one of the ring officials. As he winds up and looks to nail his wobbled rival with it, Hawkins realizes that he is doing this in full sight of the referee, who is waiting to call for the disqualification. That causes him to hesitate, and the chair is driven into his own face by a kick from Minnesota. Shaking his head, Sparrow begins to count. Both men just barely make it back into the ring before the ten count, but it takes much longer before they can make it to their feet. This sets up the middle sequence of the match where they duo put on some nice mat wrestling, with a number of pin attempts but none are that close as both men have plenty of fight left. They do wear down, however, and go back to brawling as the match goes beyond twenty minutes. They throw bombs at each other, hitting big moves and getting near-pins with kickouts at the very last second. Neither man can connect on their finisher, however. “The Philly Phenom” looks to have it won after he connects with his Minnesota Salute flying forearm but Hawkins shows determination in kicking out. A short time later, Minnesota locks in his Minnesota Holiday sleeper. After fighting to keep from going out, Hawkins rolls forward and gets to the ropes. He's dazed and wobbled, so Minnesota goes for another Minnesota Salute. But Hawkins sees it coming and tries to scramble out of the way as Minnesota flies, but “The Prodigy” gets tangled with referee Johnson and the ref ends up taking the brunt of the shot. He is down and out. Minnesota and Hawkins continue to brawl, until Hawkins ducks under a flying forearm attempt and slides out of the ring. He looks to take a breather, but Minnesota follows him out. And takes a shot with a chair for his trouble, Hawkins having retrieved the chair he was going to use earlier. There is no ref to call for the bell this time. He uses the chair again and again, driving the edge of it into his rival's chest and stomach. He throws the battered fan favorite back into the ring, following him with the chair in hand. The ref is beginning to stair. Hawkins delivers one more heavy chair shot to the top of Minnesota's head and that drops him. Hawkins then tosses the chair out of the ring and drops to the mat himself, feigning being out as well. Back on his feet and trying to shake out the cobwebs, Johnson seems confused as to what happened, with both competitors lying prone in the middle of the ring. He shrugs and begins to count. Before he can get halfway to ten, Hawkins feebly crawls over and covers Minnesota. One... two... three... Its over... Hawkins continues to sell being out of it, barely celebrating the win as the fans boo. Minnesota is still out and being checked on by the TCW Attendants. The opportunity for referee Ray Johnson to reverse the decision passes as no one bothers to explain to him what happened.

Wolf Hawkins Wins at 31:00 via Pinfall

Grade: B+

Kyle Rhodes: What a cowardly finish by Hawkins.

Jason Azaria: He did learn from Tommy Cornell.

Kyle Rodes: True. Can that match possibly put Hawkins in a position to challenge for the TCW World Heavyweight championship?

Rick Law vs Rocky Golden

TCW World Heavyweight Championship Match

6'7” + 305 lbs vs 6'7” + 330 lbs

The challenger comes out first, as usual. Rick Law gets a monstrously negative reception as soon as “Welcome to the Jungle” by Guns n' Roses begins to play. The man himself comes out, looking surly and focused. The place erupts when Rocky Golden's music hits and the TWC World Heavyweight champion emerges, his smiling girlfriend by his side. The 330-pound champion looks no less determined than his opponent. The introductions take time, and lend to the big match feel that this one has.

There is no slow start here. No feeling out process. The two men both seem to genuinely despise each other, and they come out throwing bombs. They exchange big shots and keep throwing. Its a bad plan on the part of the champion, as no one in TCW can match the precision or power that Rick Law throws strikes with. Golden keeps coming, though, as he is clearly determined to keep his belt. Miss Sara calls out encouragement from the floor. Golden has the size advantage, in terms of weight, but he cannot really overpower Law as he does with most of his opponents, which takes away part of the advantage the champion typically employs. Law begins to take control of the action, hitting some knees and a big shoulder block that takes the champion down. The challenger works to damage the champion, battering him continually and without remorse. Every time Golden begins to fight back and look like he might start his comeback, Law cuts it off in some manner, whether its another big right hand or an eye gouge. The challenger is willing to do whatever it takes to take the belt. When Golden counters a suplex attempt into a suplex of his own, then another, Law allows his frustration to show through. The challenger is smart, however. He realizes that the champion has found his second wind, so Law slides out of the ring. He goes after Miss Sara. Golden charges out of the ring and after Law, who is waiting for it. He trips the champion into the ring steps, with Golden's 330 pounds slamming into the metal with nasty concussion. Law takes the champion back into the ring and goes an immediate pin, but Golden kicks out. “The Guardian Devil” punishes the champion, but momentum switches suddenly when Law is elevated into a big back drop. Golden follows it up with a big shoulder block, then a huge spinebuster. The champion is rolling but doesn't seem to have that much left in the tank. The two men exchange strikes again. Golden goes for his Rocky Road Ganso bomb, but the challenger blocks it. He wobbles the champion with his feared Justice Jam uppercut. Law connects with a Long Arm of the Law lariat and goes for the pin, but Golden kicks out. The challenger looks frustrated, unsure of what it will take to keep the champion down. Golden makes it to his feet and blocks a big right right hand from the challenger, then delivers another big spinebuster. Golden does something he rarely does and heads up to the top turnbuckle. He lands a huge elbow drop from the top, then grabs both legs for the pin. The ref counts out the three. Golden retains.

Rick Law, Rocky Golden & Miss Sara

Post-Match

Both men are exhausted as the TCW Attendants hit the ring to check on them. Golden can barely make it to his feet as he his embraced by his squealing girlfriend, who has the TCW World Heavyweight champion belt in her hand. She embraces Rock, who is too tired to celebrate. Sara seems happier that he is still champion than the champion himself does.

On the other side of the ring, the defeated challenger lurches to his feet, shoving away the sports trainers trying to check on his condition. He yells at Golden, clearly unhappy with losing. He slides out of the ring but doesn't leave the ringside area. He stalks back and forth on the floor, glaring with hatred at the champion and his lovely girlfriend as they begin to celebrate the successful title defense.

Grade: A

Kyle Rhodes: Rocky Golden is still TCW World Heavyweight champion... but I'm not sure this one is over.

Post Show Thoughts

-I am nothing if not repetitive. If I recall correctly, I gave Acid the Shooting Star title in his first PPV match in my Generation Supreme diary. The logic for taking the belt off of Stone was quite simple - Acid makes for better matches than Stone does, so Acid can elevate the belt and division. Stone cannot. Fans of "The Bad Boy" don't have to worry - I do have plans for him. Acid also gets instant credibility from fans who don't know him from his DaVE or Japan work. Benson would have made a fine champion as well, but he has other concerns.

-with the other title change, Taylor held the belt for quite awhile. Also, it seems like Bach has never really moved much above the All Action division, so taking the International title is a step forward. I could have skipped that and rushed him toward the main event but this feels like more natural growth. I did it in a way that I hoped would keep Taylor fairly strong.

-ah, the four-way ladder match. Once again, tag team action steals the show in terms of match grades. It shouldn't be that shocking - three of the teams are quite experienced and there were three workers in the match who are fringe main eventers based on their overness... and not three you might expect. And yes, Eddie Peak did willingly take a Sick Bump in the match. I would have okay taking the belts off of The New Wave here, but I just wanted to build things up a bit more.

-the 2v3 match was actually a rather late throw-together. My original intent was to have Vessey vs Keith for this PPV and I started to build toward that. After some consideration (and advice), I decided to push that one back to Total Mayhem to make that an even bigger show. So this match was basically a way to build toward that. Plus it gave RDJ something to do. Plus it was a way to introduce the Keith boys in the ring.

-the main event... actually delivering better than I expected. I knew that this one could be a B- minus match and drag the PPV to a B overall. I was willing to take that. I really wonder if they could have managed a B+ if the match was shorter, as two guys with B- Psychology really shouldn't be doing 25 minutes.

Ah well, at least I'll have Cornell back for the coming month...

Prediction Contest

16 predictions in total. Thanks guys. Only one person got all 7 of the right, which was Rob4590. It was nice (for me, at least) see that the picks were all over, with the main event being the only match that pretty much everyone got right. Lo-Drew actually got 6 of 7 but didn't make a pick in the 7th match.

For the prediction contest, the winner (or winners, as I'm willing to give Lo-Dew the nod as well) gets the opportunity to ask for something they would like to see as part of the diary. It could be a particular match, a specific angle they would like to see, or even a particular topic for a Total Mark segment.

Thanks for predicting, everyone.

Once again an awesome show! I love the attention to detail, like Ino's armour, reminding us The New Wave have the best teamwork during the Keith match, Wolf teasing Tommy's arrival, and having long introductions for the main event (among others). Little things like this really give me a feel for your TCW. "The twins are exactly the same size as their father, so its really like seeing triple. Only one of the three happens to be nearly 50 years old." Funny! (I still need to learn how to quote like everyone else.)

And thanks!

I have a ton of fun with those little details. A big part of the reason I wanted to do a TCW diary is that I felt I had a real "vision" of the promotion. A lot of those little details go back to that.

did taylor or bach win? u have taylor down as winner

And thanks. It was Bach. I copy and posted the layout of the match from the last pay per view and missed editing that. Whoops!

Ok finally caught up. Good work so far Papa and will be reading and following and commenting. Not much to say atm due to read overload or what I covered in the PM. Love the total mark stuff, and damn you are getting some high grades for your angles.

Good PPV, but if you ask me, Rick Law can deliver... just not under the current TNA product settings. I mean, a B is good and all, but this is the Main Event. Considering TCW's talent, this should have been a B+ main event.

Rick Law is very over my game and he would be willing in the SWF. Like Golden's, he's not entirely suited to the current TCW product. Not about to give up on him. And while I realize other matches would have graded strong for various reasons, I'm trying not to book just for grades.

Interesting? You mean it wasn't interesting before? :p

More interesting, then. Its now two months into the diary game-time, but it still feels like things are getting established and some of the main storyliness are just getting going.

Glad you're reading. As we've talked about, the way I run TCW is quite similar to how I would like to see TNA run, so I'll hope you'll enjoy it in that regard.

With the angles, I think overness helps. A lot of my top guys are quite over. I always try to have them rated on whatever the worker is doing in the segment - so if a guy is talking, its going to be rated on Entertainment, etc.

Mark 13.0

Happiness

I made into the office a bit late the day following the pay per view. Tommy Cornell beat me into the office, and he was in a very good mood. It seemed to rub off on those around him, and the general atmosphere in the office was more positive than normal.

Personally, I found it creepy.

I'm used to Cornell being snappy. I'm used to him sneering at me, even when its not deserved. I'm used to him clipping back at me with biting sarcasm. That's the Tommy Cornell I know and love, both as The Boss and as the professional wrestler. Seeing him smiling and glad-handing everyone like a campaigning politician is disconcerting.

It isn't hard to figure out why he's happy. The pay per view last night was a success. Not a resounding success, but the show as a whole is getting solid enough reviews and the buy rates look like they were strong enough as well. That show was a big risk for Total Championship Wrestling and it looks like things had passed the test.

I doubt fans realize just how much of a risk that TCW took with Where Angels Fear to Tread 2010. Its easy to look at it and think the risk all came from no Cornell. That was only part of it, though. The main event was two guys who, despite being popular, would not have been trusted to main event a pay per view even just six months ago. Golden and Law are both under 30 year olds, the future of Total Championship Wrestling. The same for the two guys in the secondary main event, Joey Minnesota and Wolf Hawkins. Both TCW and the SWF have been criticized for being too reliant on veteran star workers and not giving the tonger talent a real chance to prove themselves. Last night was TCW giving some of their top young talent a chance to carry things, and they look to have been successful. That Cornell and Bryant took the risk and it appears to have paid off bodes well for the future of TCW.

Another reason the Cornell was likely happy is that it seemed the time off over the past month has done him good. The only time Tommy Cornell takes time off is when he's injured, and he's basically never injured, so... He was still working through the past month, in the office most days. But he wasn't traveling. Which meant he could go home to his family every night, instead of a couple of nights per week. The storyline suspension was done basically to give Cornell a bit of break. Well that and actually giving the fictional “Home Office” some teeth after years of doing doing but making matches. It seems the time away has been good for The Boss.

There was one other reason The Boss was in a good mood. Last night, after the pay per view, rumors came through that a major Supreme Wrestling Federation wrestler had suffered an injury on their live TV event. A short time after, we found out it was Eric Eisen and he would definitely be missing some time. News came through this morning that it was a serious rotator cuff injury and the current SWF World Heavyweight champion was likely to be out for the remainder of the year.

Tommy Cornell was quite happy about that.

Not that actual injury itself – no wrestler is likely to be happy about seeing another wrestler take a serious injury. But rather, The Boss is happy about what that injury could mean for the Supreme Wrestling Federation. He hopes that this injury could perhaps indicate that the SWF's run of good luck is coming to a close. Cornell truly believes that the whole Syndicate storyline should have been what carried TCW onto equal ground as the SWF. The elements were there – compelling drama combined with great wrestling. Injuries kept it from being what it could have been and should have been. Good planning and bad luck. Then Supreme put together a solid storyline that was well conceived and well written, but the fans took to it in a huge way. Good planning and good luck.

It seems commonly accepted amongst fans that Cornell hates Richard Eisen. It is incorrect. There is a dislike there, but there is also a ton of respect. If it wasn't for an SWF scout seeing him wrestling as a teenager in a seedy club in London, he might never have moved overseas to America. Or received the best training in the business at the time. Or become a huge star. If it wasn't for the punishment Eisen meted out for Cornell's participating in the legendary brawl with Nemesis, he might never had made the decision to leave the stifling confines of the SWF to try his hand in HGC. Richard Eisen had a pretty stern hand in molding the Tommy Cornell we know today, and The Boss recognizes that. There is also the simple respect for another wrestling promoter, especially one who has accomplished as much as Richard Eisen has.

To The Boss, the Supreme Wrestling Federation are not so much “the enemy” as they are “the competition”. The Eisen vision represents a distillation of the traditional values he loves. He looks at talent like Angry Gilmore, Rich Money, Chris Morrisette, and others and feels they could do so much more if they were restricted to what the SWF allows.

Cornell is happy about the injury because of what it represents for Total Championship Wrestling – an opportunity. The SWF just lost their reigning champion to a botched dive in a TV match. One of their most popular workers – one of their most effective heels – is gone for the better part of a year. Its the kind of issue that can stall the momentum that the SWF has had since they first launched The Man Under Pressure storyline. Its the kind of opportunity that TCW needs to take advantage of.

Will it give an opportunity to TCW? I'm not so certain. Losing Eisen hurts, as he is very over with the fans. He's also still quite limited as a wrestler. The SWF might end up putting the belt on someone stronger, like Rich Money, and end up coming out ahead anyway.

I don't think Cornell's happiness will last. Regardless of what happens with the SWF and their world title. Regardless of what happens in the coming weeks and at the next pay per view. Regardless if he took another month. He is just not the type of person who is going to remain in a “good mood” for a long period. I don't say that a negative or critical way. Its simply that Cornell is intelligent, focused, driven, and goal-oriented. Yes, he also has a wicked sense of humor and enjoys a laugh, but those things are secondary. It takes an incredible amount of drive and focus to become the best of your generation at anything. I find he is at his best when he approaches anything – be it a match, a business decision, or even a creative decision – with that drive and focus, not with a goofy grin on his face.

What does it say about me that I am not really happy for Cornell's current happiness? I don't want to think about that, honestly. I just want what is best for Total Championship Wrestling, the same as The Boss does.

Rick Law is very over my game and he would be willing in the SWF. Like Golden's, he's not entirely suited to the current TCW product. Not about to give up on him. And while I realize other matches would have graded strong for various reasons, I'm trying not to book just for grades.

That being said, you might eventually need to adjust certain... issues. I'm absolutely certain that Wolf Hawkins, Joey Minnesota (why did he get such a big head in 2010?), and Rick Law can make it.

Rocky Golden? Not so much. Maybe, maybe not. But he's not one I'd bank on.
