NYCW - Passing the torch

Recommended Posts

Thank you so much for the kind words WC and glad to have you join in on the predictions. I haven't been doing fan signs, but would definitely be willing to incorproate them as I enjoy adding mine to Angeldelayettes USPW Diary.

Okay then, you can use my fan signs if you want to, but you don't have to use them, so don't feel pressured!

Signs:

Pull a rabbit out of your black hat, Bailey!

Black Hat Bailey vs Donnie J – NYCW Empire Title

Donnie wins but Black Hat keeps the belt.

Whistler & Steve Flash vs Honest Frank & Lee Wright – Steel Cage

Flash gets his revenge inside the cage.

The Ring Generals vs The Old School Principals – NYCW Tag Titles

Don't see the Ring Generals losing the belts for awhile.

Sammy the Shark vs Streetz Choice – Tri-State Regional Title

Jared Johnson steps in and walks away with the belts.

Handsome Stranger vs Dazzling Dave Diamond

Triple D starts earning that raise.

Good to see this running strong! Also glad to see my fan sign idea making it into other diaries!

NYCW –City Slam 1 – Week 2 April 2010

The crowd is ready to go, though it does not appear we have an increase from March, they are at least enthusiastic.

http://i184.photobucket.com/albums/x32/Kidbrit/TEW/CrowdCitySlam.jpg

Stomper: “What the hell is with all those signs?”

Me: “That’s what a lot of the younger kids do now Uncle Derek, it’s a good thing, means we are getting some younger fans.”

Stomper: “Bah, they stuck one in front of me when I was watching a Wrestling show it would be confetti, and young my ass, that guy in the corner is older than me!!”

Pre-Show

Prior to a big show Steve Flash, Whistler, Roger Monteiro, Animal Harker, Honest Frank, Lee Wright, Samoan Machine and Roderick Remus take the time to interact with the fans in a meet and greet. We keep the Heels and Face separated and beyond a few insults there are no incidents.

Handsome Stranger vs Dazzling Dave Diamond

Dazzling Dave is whooping it up and gets in Handsome Strangers head early on with his wild antics. The handsome one goes into a frenzy when Diamond traps him in the corner and rubs his armpit on his face, much to the delight of the crowd. Choking and gagging outside the ring, Handsome Stranger takes his revenge, brutalizing Diamond with punches, kicks and wicked slingshot onto the top rope that mails Diamond in the throat. Handsome Stranger then nails a DDT and to insure the pin place his feet on the ropes as Triple D is unable to kick out.

In a bout that had a good crowd and some decent in-ring action, Handsome Stranger defeated Dazzling Dave Diamond in 13:10 by pinfall, illegally using the ropes for leverage.

Sammy the Shark and Roger Cage are in the locker room and are apparently not seeing eye to eye.

Sammy: “Roger, all I am asking is that you watch my back against whoever Streetz throws out there. That whole group is a bunch of thugs and I don’t want to roll craps tonight buddy."

Roger: “Really, what about me? I’m better looking than Handsome Stranger, just as cool as Donnie J and can wrestle with anyone in this company, Roger….Roger Cage! But people are starting to forget that name, because I either have to watch your back or team with you because people are after you….what about me?”

Sammy: “Roger, listen man let me give these guys from The Young Moguls the Royal Flush and then it will be your turn to hit the Jackpot.”

Roger: “I’m a prime time player Sammy, center stage and all the rage, you know the name it’s Roger Cage….Remember all that?”

Sammy: “I do, I do and I promise we stack our chips together against Streetz and his crew, and then we get you back into the Lottery!”

Roger: (Screaming) “I don’t want to wait…..and quit talking in those stupid gambling analogies, it drives me nuts!”

Cage storms off as Sammy the Shark is left standing with a quizzical look on his face. Back in the shadows, an unseen figure who was eavesdropping, moves quietly away.

Roderick Remus vs Roger Monteiro

The youngsters get the stage again in a quick match and get an A for effort as they hit some solid high spots in a very open matchup that sees chain wrestling, high flying and both men willing to cross the line as needed. The end comes when Remus reverses a hurricanrana into the Remus clutch, forcing Monteiro to tap in agony.

In an extremely poor match, Roderick Remus defeated Roger Monteiro in 8:29 by submission with a Remus Clutch.

Streetz comes out with Edward Cornell and New York Doll as Sammy the Shark waits in the ring. “What up NYC, the only place to be, cause yo man named Streetz, flows wit all da dope beats. But yo, I ain’t hear for all dat. Sammy the Shark is the man wit strap, which he don’t deserve cause he straight up mad wack. Streetz has da pick, to face you ya fool and beat you like you was a lame rented Mule. So, wit dat clear…..Streetz sez…………………Roger Cage, get yo ass out here and face yo partner for the Tri-City belt.”

The crowd gets silent and Cornell and the Doll look at each other stunned, each demanding Streetz explain himself.

Streetz: “Yo, Terry Twist said I had da pick and I picked Roger Cage, come on out scrub!”

Cage appears, looking equally stunned. “I don’t know what you are up to Streetz, but as someone who knows smooth, you ain’t it! I am not facing my partner tonight.”

Streetz: “Yo, da contract is right here and it has da usual stips. Wrestle him and wit no apprehension, or punk out and got you a 3 month suspension!”

Cage knows the standard contract clause in NYCW and knows he has no choice unless he wants to sit on the sideline for 90 days.

Sammy the Shark vs Roger Cage – NYCW Tri-City Regional Title

Despite there earlier disagreement, the two shake hands and we are underway. It is a brilliant example of scientific wrestling, with each headlock, arm bar and takedown a technical display that the fans of NYCW are rarely treated to. Both men get frustrated at times, as being partners they know each other’s moves almost before they are executed. Still they wrestle on, maintaining their respective cool until a vicious chop by Sammy angers Cage, who hurls his partner between the ropes. As if realizing he had gone too far, Cage apologizes and holds the ropes open for Sammy to get back into the ring. As the Shark re-enters the ring, Cage yanks the ropes hard into Sammy’s crotch, then sucker punches him with a vicious right hand. Cage follows up with the Cage Rage and we have a new Champion!

In a bout that had a good crowd and some decent in-ring action, Roger Cage defeated Sammy the Shark in 14:44 by pinfall with a Cage Rage. During the match we also had Roger Cage turn on The Shark. Roger Cage wins the NYCW Tri-State Regional title.

Dat fool was holding yo ass down G, so now dat you gat da belt….Streetz is inviting you to part of da future. Chronic Future!! Now wat you say playa?”

Cage leaves the ring and walks up to Streetz and stands in front of him…………Then brushes past and heads to the Locker room without saying a word.

Samoan Machine vs Animal Harker

Samoan Machine is apparently still upset about his struggles at Ides of March as he is all over Harker from the opening bell and does not let up. In fact he pulls the Animal up twice from sure fire pins for the pleasure of putting him to sleep with the unbreakable sleeper, frothing at the mouth like a crazed Dog as Harker slips into unconsciousness.

In a match that had an average crowd reaction and some decent in-ring action, Samoan Machine defeated Animal Harker in 8:49 by submission with an Unbreakable Sleeper.

Our makeshift video screen shows Steve Flash returning to the locker room from the bathroom to find a note taped to his bags. Flash reads the note and looks up with a look of determination on his face. Crumpling the note in his fist he then heads out of the dressing area and out to the parking lot, where the camera losses sight of him.

Ring Generals vs Old School Principals – NYCW Tag Team Titles

The blow off match is a must win for the Principals and they start strong keeping Waldorf in their corner and making quick tags to stay fresh. Waldorf rolls under a double clothesline and Statler cleans house, running around the ring with fists pumping after the Mauler and Sanders are sent to the arena floor. The Masked Mauler regains momentum for the challengers with an eye rake and tries to hoist Waldorf onto the Turnbuckle for a super-plex, but Waldorf leaps over his back and rolls the Mauler up into a small package to save the belts.

In a match that had an average crowd reaction and some decent in-ring action, The Ring Generals defeated Old School Principals in 17:13 when Dean Waldorf defeated The Masked Mauler by pinfall with a quick cradle. The Ring Generals make defense number 3 of their NYCW Tag Team titles.

Black Hat Bailey is at the announcers table with Rock Downpour. “You know, I had planned to come out here and repeat the same things I do every show to these intellectually challenged cretins Rock. But then it dawned on me. Some men, you just can’t reach…….So you get what we had here last month….and the month before…and the month before that. When the hell will your unemployment benefits run out people, so you can’t afford tickets anymore because I’m sick of looking at you? As for you Donnie J, you little punk, when I finish with you tonight…….You’re going to make this collection of inbreed sewer scum look like they belong to the Ford Modeling agency!” Bailey runs his thumb across his throat in a slashing gesture and storms to the back.

Steve Flash & Whistler vs Honest Frank & Lee Wright – Steel Cage Match

Whistler was ready to go and Flash seemed more than happy to let him start the match and in fact seemed in no rush to join the fray, finally allowing himself to be tagged in when Whistler was nearly out on his feet. Flash turned the tide, at one point grabbing the hair of both Frank and Wright and running them into the cage. It wasn’t long before all four men were in the ring and a free for all ensued and after a series of body slams Honest Frank and Lee Wright were both caught upside down in opposite corners, tied to the tree of woe. Whistler called for double baseball slides to the head, but Flash instead headed for the cage door as either an escape, or a pin won the match. Motioning for Whistler to hurry, Flash was already outside the cage as his partner approached with Honest Frank, who had worked himself free in pursuit. As Whistler reached the door, Flash slammed it heavily into his head, knocking him flat on his back. From there Flash watched with a smile as Honest Frank picked up Whistler from the Canvas and drove home the final nail with the Frank N Hurter!

In a bout that had a good crowd and some decent in-ring action, Honest Frank and Lee Wright defeated Steve Flash and Whistler in a Cage Classic match in 17:34 when Honest Frank defeated Whistler by pinfall with a Frank-N-Hurter following a turn by Steve Flash.

Rock Downpour screams over the arena PA system: “Holy treachery, what was that!!!”

Herb Stately: “I believe that’s called getting a return on your investment……………..Batman.”

Black Hat Bailey vs Donnie J – NYCW Empire Title

Before the match it is announced that the rest of the Gashouse Gang will be barred from ringside, or Black Hat will be disqualified and the Title will change hands. The announcement seems to raise Donnie J’s confidence level to extreme heights as works circles around the aging Champion, who after a particularly bad sequence drops to his knees and begs for mercy. Donnie hesitates and takes an uppercut to the nether regions for his trouble. Bailey is smiling now as he begins to soften up Donnie J’s back in preparation for the Bailey Breaker, in desperation, Donnie slides out of the hold and hits a belly to back suplex. Bailey is soon in trouble again and it looks like youth will carry the day before the rest of the Gashouse Gang appears at the entrance to the arena. Referee Michael Bull shouts a warning to them to get no closer, and while he is preoccupied Handsome Stranger comes through the crowd with a Ladder. Donnie J is ready this time and drop kicks the ladder into Handsome Strangers face knocking him off the ring apron. Bailey takes advantage of the distraction however and rolls Donnie up from behind, grabbing J’s tights as Michael Bull slides in with the 3 count!

In a bout that had a good crowd and some decent in-ring action, Black Hat Bailey defeated Donnie J in 21:53 by pinfall with a handful of tights. During the match we also had Handsome Stranger run in and attack Donnie J. Black Hat Bailey makes defense number 4 of the NYCW Empire title.

Black Hat Bailey grabs the microphone as the rest of the Gashouse Gang now joins him in the ring. “What we have learned here tonight, is that Whistler is right………..America is a great country! I mean, where else can you buy a commodity like Steve Flash for a mere $10,000.00 dollars. Now, I know that’s still more money than you idiots out here in the Arena spent on your rust eroded, 10 mile to gallon jalopies! But to finally shut the patriotic trap of that flag waving bleeding heart, well………it was a bargain. Now here is your lesson Whistler. You can take that red, white and blue rag you wave around and use it for toilet paper…..because the only Color that matters around here is Green, and now more than ever…..the Gas House Gang runs………..This City!!

Backstage:

Stomper: “Two big turns in one night, you got guts kid.”

Me: “Well Uncle Derek, from the reaction I would say they were both a success and it definitely got some heat.”

Stomper: “I’ll give you that….You know you still really haven’t booked that one dynamite match Terry, but you’re shows are consistent from top to bottom and I think they are still good enough to get people interested."

Me: “I hope so……I just wish we would have drawn another 100 or so tonight.”

Stomper: “Be patient…..Because as long as I am not losing money…I will be, so don’t screw it up!”

Uncle Derek left and I sat down exhausted, he was right, we were not getting those big matches, but tonight’s show was consistent and I had to think that would help. Plus Black Hat had told me before the show he would be mentoring Marv Statler, so it was apparent the veterans were willing do what was needed to bring the next generation along.

Quick Picks (This Show / Overall)

Chriskid – 3 / 15

Dragonmack – 4 / 13

BgBuff – 3 / 13

Maxxhexx – 0 / 11

Angeldelayette – 2 / 9

BHK1978 – 0 / 8

TakerNGN74 – 0 / 3

Wrestling Century – 2 / 2

Thanks to all that predicted, Dragon got all but the main event and I thought about putting the strap on Donnie, but Handsome Stranger just wouldn’t let it happen. 

I see you 'borrowed' the idea I 'borrowed' from James Casey. :p

Just don't make the same mistake I did initially and forget to set everyone to on screen. I didnt any improvement from anyone the first two times I ran it because I didnt set that in the initial angle creation. I set mine as an 8 person angle with everyone onscreen, 4 people rated on entertainment and 4 not rated. I also set it as a major angle. I've been getting consistent D+ by using my 4 most charismatic people and then 4 people I want to try and improve.

You know what they say, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, LOL.

It really is a great idea though, especially with the "generation gap" NYCW has. I did set everyone to onscreen when I cloned it, but all are rated on entertainment. I will make the adjustment and chamge 4 to not rated. Thanks for the tip......and the idea :D

Sorry I missed the picks for the last show, not sure how I missed it but I did. The funny thing is when you showed how everyone did and I got an 0/8, I was like what the hell there is no way I picked that badly.:D Well I guess that I did not pick at all.

Anyways, great show as always and keep up the good work.

Stomper: “When are you going to be finished, we want to get some breakfast Terry?”

Me: “you can go eat Uncle Derek, Aprils final numbers are not going to change based on how many Bagels you eat.”

Stomper: “Listen wiseass, I want to enjoy my breakfast and not sit there thinking about money the whole time. Besides, if your big production for City Slam 1 cost me too much then Bo is buying breakfast.”

http://i184.photobucket.com/albums/x32/Kidbrit/TEW/BlackHatBailey.jpg

Black Hat: “Derek, you would find a way to have me buy breakfast if you fell into a well full of 100 dollar bills, so let’s just say I’m buying and go eat.”

Me: “No need, I’m finished….We lost 557 dollars in April, not really bad when you think about it. Our balance is still 101,073 dollars, so we are still ahead of the game year to date.”

Stomper: “So really what you’re saying, is if you didn’t hire that crappy band and that idiot from the Howard Stern show we would have made about 500 dollars!”

Black Hat: “Oh come on Derek, now the band I could have done without, but I loved having Richard Christy at the show and the fans did too. That kid is pretty damn funny…..strange but funny.”

Stomper: “Well I wouldn’t know Bo; I never got a chance to talk to him since he had his damn mouth stuffed with Cheese Cake every time I passed him. Hell, we would have done even better because I bet he ate about 50 bucks worth of food all by himself.”

Black Hat: (Laughing) “You know, he does love Cheese Cake, they used to bust his chops about that all the time. Hey Terry, next time you see Triple D ask him to say ‘I like Cheesecake’ he sounds just like Richard Christy!! Man I love those calls him and Sal make, have you ever heard the Tradio calls Terry, they really give those guys fits that…”

Stomper: “Dammit Bo enough about Mr. Cheesecake, can we go friggin eat now?”

Me: “Hang on Uncle Derek, our Radio ad for Mayhem should be on any minute now..”

Stomper: “What??? I told you no more expensive advertising, I swear to god I am going to kick you right off the Brooklyn Bridge one of these days..”

Me: “Uncle Derek, relax it was free. I met one of the DJ’s at a little AM station at City Slam and he said he would put us over for free tickets to Mayhem.”

Stomper: “Well, that ain’t really free is it Terry, because that’s a couple of tickets we are not getting paid for.”

Me: “Well actually it was six tickets, but we always have a couple of hundred empty seats anyway, so what the hell.”

Stomper: “SIX, well great, why don’t you invite him backstage and he can eat all the damn Cheese Cake too!”

Me: “Wait, wait, here it comes……”

“Hey Head bangers, this is Crazy Cabby and that was Accept with ‘Balls to the Wall’ and speaking of balls to wall, for all you pro wrestling fans out there, don’t forget to check out New York City Wrestling a week from this coming Saturday in crazy, crazy Queens. The main event will be a three way dance for the NYCW Empire Championship between Black Hat Bailey, Donnie J and Handsome Stranger, plus Whistler has a score to settle with Steve Flash and Honest Frank and rumor has it he is looking for a partner to put those two in their place. It’s wild, it’s crazy, it’s New York City wrestling! Now back to the music..”

Stomper: “Wow and all that cost was 6 tickets?? That idiot sounds like he’s auditioning for a job to sell Water Beds! Let’s go eat Bo!”

I didn’t care what Uncle Derek thought, free was free in my eyes. Looking at the latest on TEW.com I noticed that we got a mention for signing Jared Johnson, while my old Buddy Grandmaster Phunk signed a developmental deal with RIPW, good thing I didn’t pursue him. Mainstream Hernandez signed with 4C, while CZCW picked up both Fumihiro Ota and American Elemental. Not making the website, but just as important for me was the fact that I was able to extend Steve Flash's contract for another 9 months, meaning my planned feud between him and Whistler would have a nice run.

Quite a few retirements with Suzue Katayama, Mephisto, Nikki Power, Dick the Devastator, Liberty and Jackson Andrews all calling it quits. Liberty kind of surprised me as he is only 39 and seemed to be a staple of USPW, but he was done none the less. No real scandals, just a note about Erne Turner putting over David Poker in RIPW, obviously trying to smooch his way onto the SWF roster. TCW also signed a PPV deal in Japan, which could be huge in their quest to catch SWF. Me, I had smaller dreams, like maybe holding a show in Philadelphia by the end of the year, or maybe snagging a 2:00am TV slot on some cable channel that maybe reached viewers in 3 or 4 different states and came on right before a Chuck Norris infomercial for the total body Gym……Yeah, that would be good.

great turns...flash did come out of nowhere.....and good setup to the cage turn....keep up the good work...

Thanks Buff, I think both turns give me some more options as I really didn't have a plan for Cage as I figured he would jump to SWF when they came calling, but he did not. It makes sense to have him feud with Sammy as I think that gives me a better mid-card storyline than the Ring Generals/Old School Principals.

It was hard to believe that my 5th show was here and the year was almost half over. I was counting on the two top matches to carry Mayhem, while using the undercard to do some transitioning and feature the long awaited debut of the Rayne Man, who prior to now I did not really have solid plans for. The best part though was how much more relaxed I was with City Slam 1 behind me and no major fallout from the turns of Flash and Cage. Well, actually there was some minor drama. Black Hat believed that Steve Flash would fit in with the Gas House Gang motif better if he got rid of his trademark Mullett. It took a week of cajoling, but Steve finally parted with his beloved Joe Dirt locks and managed to do so without shedding a tear. (I had Popsicles ready just in case)

Triple D and Kentucky Bill vs Rick Sanders and Richie Riggins

Triple D and Bill hit it off like long lost cousins and form decent enough Tag team, that I may consider making them a regular pairing. The match is not bad as Riggins shows he is a quick study in applying the weasel tactics Rick is famous for. His cheating does not spare him from the wrath of Triple D however, who puts him to bed with a brutal Dazzle Driver.

In a match that had an average crowd reaction and some decent in-ring action, Dazzling Dave Diamond and Kentucky Bill defeated Richie Riggins and Rick Sanders in 10:30 when Dazzling Dave Diamond defeated Richie Riggins by pinfall with a Dazzle Driver

Rayne Man vs Lee Wright

The crowd is eager for the debut of Rayne Man, but Lee Wright is just as eager to destroy the hoopla and he promptly goes about breaking Rayne Man down, one body part at a time. Wright pauses only long enough to mock his opponents name with unflattering imitations of the handicapped, which draw the ire of the crowd. It is during one of these exhibitions of classlessness, that Whistler charges in and hits the Rebel Yell while Referee Michael Bull was checking on Rayne Man, who had been hurled to the floor. Regaining his senses, Rayne Man locks the “Rayne Fall” on the still groggy Wright and steals the win!

In a bout that had a good crowd and good action, Rayne Man defeated Lee Wright in 11:32 by submission with a Rayne Fall after interference from Whistler.

As the ring clears, Whistler comes back out and places his flag on a stand in the center of the ring. “You know, there was a time when I believed in people and that everyone had some good in them. Now, as I stand here before you I feel alone, isolated….A prisoner, just like Francis Scott Key when he penned those immortal words while straining to catch just a glimpse of old glory as its tattered remnants were periodically illuminated..”

Honest Frank: “Oh wah, wah, wah….Shut the hell up will you please!” As Whistler turns to face Frank, Steve Flash attacks from behind and both men work Whistler over, before each hit their finishing move.

With Whistler motionless after being nailed with both the Frank n Hurter and the Flash Bang, Honest Frank walks up to the flag, starts to salute it, then spits on it. He then pulls a small can of lighter fluid from his pocket and douses Whistlers beloved flag. Steve Flash then produces a lighter, and as Whistler starts to come to and cries in vain for him to stop, Flash sets the flag ablaze. Frank and Flash then beat a hasty retreat for the locker room as a near riot ensues. One fan throws a chair at the retreating duo, while another hops the rail and takes a kick to the midsection from Frank for his troubles. Meanwhile in the ring, a frantic elderly woman tries to save the flag by throwing her soda on the flames, but it is in vain as the Flag is completely destroyed.

The New York Doll vs Marv Statler

Statler has to deal with not only The Doll, but the threat of Streetz and Edward Cornell throughout the match, but he manages to stay one step ahead of the Young Moguls and their Manager using an impressive array of aerial moves complimented by solid mat wrestling as the trio reach their boiling point. With Statler set to bring the New York Doll out of the corner with a Bulldog, Cornell nailed him in the back of the head with a Chair, bringing an immediate disqualification. The Young Moguls were not done however, as they hoisted Statler up onto their shoulders then delivered a tandem Power Bomb through a table Streetz had set up outside the ring and onto the concrete floor.

In a match that had an average crowd reaction and some decent in-ring action, Marv Statler defeated The New York Doll in 10:43 when The New York Doll was disqualified when Edward Cornell ran in and attacked Marv Statler.

Black Hat Bailey joins Rock Downpour for an interview: “Did somebody burn some Toast?”

Rock: “Black Hat, I don’t think any of these good people find that funny in the slightest, to burn the American Flag is blasphemy.”

Black Hat: “You know what Rock….You’re right. And you know what else blasphemy is? For me to have to come out here later tonight and give those two Johnny come latelys, those two snot nosed punks Donnie J and Handsome Stranger another shot at tarnishing my Empire Belt!! I am the Godfather of NYCW, the leader of the syndicate that runs this town, the Gas House Gang! Yet I get caught up in their little lovers spat over who is the fairest of them all, who is going to get to wear the chartreuse trunks and whose damn spray on tan looks better? Wrong! You two Fabio imposters are in my world and the only glamour you’re going to find are the stars you’ll be seeing as I lay you both out and leave you staring into the lights!!”

Roger Cage vs Sammy the Shark – NYCW Tri-State Regional Title

Cage approaches Sammy before the bell and speaks softly to him, then extends his hand…..Sammy finally reaches to accept the gesture and Cage cheap shots him again! Sammy loses his temper and quickly recovers to send Cage scampering for higher ground and as he returned, Sammy mockingly held the ropes open for him, which of course Cage did not go for. Some good back and forth action ensued, but Cage’s arrogance let Sammy escape a near pinfall and eventually regain control. The Shark brought forth the fury and had Cage out on his feet and ready to go when Cornell and The New York Doll attacked Sammy as Streetz distracted the Referee, allowing Cage to hit the Cage Rage and vanquish his former partner again!

In a bout that had a good crowd and some decent in-ring action, Roger Cage defeated Sammy the Shark in 16:42 by pinfall with a Cage Rage. During the match we also saw Edward Cornell run in and attack The Shark, and The New York Doll also attack The Shark. Roger Cage makes defense number 1 of his NYCW Tri-State Regional title.

Samoan Machine vs Jared Johnson

The Machine continues to cut his swath of destruction through NYCW, though he does have some moments of trouble from the talented Double J, who display some sound skills on the mat and at times outshines Samoan Machine technically. Johnson’s problem is that he cannot match his opponent in the power department and is soon worn down by sheer brute force. The Samoan driver that finishes the match brings a gasp from the crowd and leaves Johnson down for several minutes.

In a match that had some good action and average heat, Samoan Machine defeated Jared Johnson in 9:19 by pinfall with a Samoan Driver.

Whistler comes out, takes a microphone and sits on the ring steps. As he begins to speak, tears well up in his eyes. “Tonight, I lost a piece of myself when Honest Frank and Steve Flash burned my flag. I have carried that flag with me for close to 20 years and it was more than just a prop, more than just an identity or a gimmick. It was part of my soul and what you did tonight rips that part out of me….Gone forever. There will be hell to pay for what you two did, and the man that is going to help me collect is probably the last man you want to piss off when it comes to disrespecting this great country!”

God bless America blares over the sound system and the American Patriot appears as the crowd breaks into chants of USA, USA, USA!!

Whistler & American Patriot vs Honest Frank & Steve Flash

Whistler and Patriot don’t even wait for Flash and Frank to make it to the ring, meeting their opponents in the entry way. Neither side holds anything back and within minutes both Flash and Whistler are bleeding, as the batter each other with anything not mailed down. Eventually the action returns to the ring, where the crowd pops big after Frank and Flash are double Irish whipped into each other and both go down. With things looking bad for the Heels, Frank loads his shoe up and nails Patriot with a shot to the groin. Whistler then grabs Frank by the feet and pulls him from the ring, attempting to rip the shoe off and show the referee. Steve Flash seizes the moment and rolls Patriot, who is gasping for breath, up in a small package. Bull makes the count as Flash grabs a hand full of tights to insure Patriot’s shoulders stay down.

In a bout that had a good crowd and good action, Honest Frank and Steve Flash defeated American Patriot and Whistler in 14:41 when Steve Flash defeated American Patriot by pinfall with a handful of tights.

With the match over Frank clocks both Patriot and Whistler with his loaded shoe, laying both men out. He and Flash then celebrate by laying the boots, with Lee Wright joining in on the fun for good measure. Black Hat Bailey vs Donnie J vs Handsome Stranger – NYCW Empire Championship

It is apparent early that Donnie J will be the target of both men and he takes a beating in the early going. Black Hat goes for a big clothesline on Donnie, who is laying on the ropes, but Donnie ducks at the last minute and propels Black Hat to the floor with a back drop. This turns the focus on Donnie J and Handsome Stranger and they tear down the ring with fast paced back and forth brawling, that features some stiff bumps and plenty of twists and each pulls off amazing counters to escape the others finisher. Black Hat finally recovers and drops Donnie J from behind with a huge forearm. Picking J up, Bailey delivers a pile driver and covers Donnie, looking for the win. Handsome Stranger then pulls Bailey off and covers Donnie himself, getting a two count before Black Hat pulls him off. Bailey and Stranger begin to argue and Black Hat then pushes Handsome Stranger through the ropes in anger. Before he can turn back around, Donnie J slides in and rolls the Champion up with a quick schoolboy and Michael Bull hits the 3 count, giving NYCW a new Empire Champion!!!

In a bout that had a good crowd and some decent in-ring action, Donnie J defeated Black Hat Bailey and Handsome Stranger in 19:21 when Donnie J defeated Black Hat Bailey by pinfall with a fast roll up. Donnie J wins the NYCW Empire title.

Backstage:

Stomper: “Well kid, good show and I think this will increase our popularity, but for god’s sake, don’t let Handsome Stranger call a match in the ring. Just because he knows fine Italian suits, doesn’t mean he knows psychology. You know the angles did match the in ring action either need a better balance there Terry."

Me: “But Uncle Derek, the place was ready to riot when Flash set the Flag on fire, how do I get more heat than that with an angle?”

Stomper: “You got a lot to learn kid; there is a difference between pissing people off and getting heat. Flash and Frank are probably not safe on the street for a couple of days because of that…”

Me: “You could have told me to tone it down.”

Stomper: “What and ruin my fun?”

I got the ambiguous wink again as Uncle Derek headed off to grab a late night snack with our former Emipre Champion.

Scoop Slam – Inside Pro Wrestling June 2010

World Level Wrestling growing

WLW was given Japan’s big three a fourth power with their rise to Cult level last month. It is expected the jump in stature will produce a mini talent raid of other Japanese promotions as WLW look to become a major player in the land of the rising sun.

Other news out of Japan sees a new owner of PGHW as Seiji Jimbo takes the reins of Japan’s number two promotion. Jimbo’s first move after taking charge was to turn the book over to Canadian Alexander Robinson, which has raised some eyebrows, despite Robinson long tenure with PGHW as a wrestler.

The current growth in Japan has also given rise to a new promotion as EX2010 opened their doors in May. The promotion, owned by Kuemon Hotta and booked by Sensational Ogiwara will feature “explosive action” and will focus on up and coming talent such as Spider Yakuta, Morimasa Kato and Kenko Takemitsu.

Sean set to “McFly”

Rumors from Canada indicate Sean McFly has turned down NOTBPW’s latest contract offer, with insiders saying McFly believes he has outgrown the promotion. This news come on the heels of McFly’s back injury, which is expected to keep him out of action for another 2 months.

Sick Bumps

Speed D of WLW joins McFly on this month’s list of walking wounded after suffering a torn Stomach muscle, which should keep him out through the end of June.

Sunset

Jaguar Endo, Saeko Hiroyuki and Preston Holt have all announced their retirement from Wrestling.

On the Tube

SWF and America-Sports-1 have announced plans to renew SWF Uprising next season, while TCW’s Saturday Night Showcase will also return on the same network, making for some interesting competition.

I place the newsletter on my desk and retrieve my trusty notebook to finish fleshing out my plans for our June show “Manhattan Project” when I get a knock on the door.

http://i184.photobucket.com/albums/x32/Kidbrit/TEW/LarryVessey.jpg

Larry Vessey enters and pulls up a chair….”Listen Terry, I know we have clashed a couple of times, but I want you to know I get what you are trying to do and know that it is best for the company.”

Me: “Thanks Larry, it means a lot to have your support, but there is still a place for the veterans and I want you to know you still have a role here.”

Larry: “Well, I really don’t. I am just here to put the young guys over and I just don’t feel like hanging on and having that be my legacy. To be honest, I just need a break and so I am hanging up the tights.”

Me: “You sure?”

Larry: “100%, consider this my notice….”

Me: “Well, if you are sure then I only wish you the best Larry, but I would like to send you off on style.”

Larry: “What, jobbing to Regular Joe?”

Me: “No, a retirement match against Black Hat Bailey, two legends going at it one more time at the Manhattan Project show, in fact you two can open the show.”

Larry: “Believe it or not…..I appreciate that Terry, that shows me you respect the business, thank you.”

I watched Larry leave and though it was sad to see a good career ending, his presence will not be missed on the locker room, where he was generally an ill-tempered dick. I picked up the phone and called Uncle Derek.

Stomper: “Is that you Terry?”

Me: “Wow, you figured out how to answer your cell phone?”

Stomper: “If I could figure out a way to send my fist through the phone you’d have a bloody nose right now.”

Me: “I was kidding, but the reason I am calling is Larry Vessey is retiring.”

Stomper: “You know, I suspected this might coming, hell Vessey has always been a miserable sonofabitch, but lately he has been almost unbearable sometimes….so you gonna bury him?”

Me: “Actually Black Hat wasn’t scheduled to work Manhattan Project, so I am going to book a farewell match for Larry with him.”

Stomper: “You gotta learn to be more of a bastard Terry, I would have jobbed him out to Kentucky Bill.”

Me: “Isn’t he your friend?”

Stomper: “Yeah but he’s a prick and if I didn’t like him I would have jobbed him out to you.”

Me: “Wow, OK. Hey listen, I left $14 in your desk drawer…..”

Stomper: “What the hell for?”

Me: “That was our profit for May and you are going to need it to buy me Dinner since you bet we would lose money…..Don’t worry though, that won’t be enough to cover the tab.”

Stomper: “You sonofa…”

Oops, must have lost my signal.

Your characters are all so real on screen and off. By far my favorite work on the forums. I can literally feel the emotion. I absolutely hate The Whistler, but you made me cheer for him against workers I normally like. Congradulations and keep up the good work.
