BHOTWG- Stepping into the Inferno

Predictions Form

Unification Match for the Burning World/King of Fighters Championships:

Hiroaki Nakasawa vs Tadiyuki Kikkawa

Consensus seems to be Nakasawa's way, and I could easily be swayed to it as his victory makes sense in a lot of ways, except one. He wins and what next? For drama, intrigue, and the future ( at least short term) the better move is for Kikkawa to win and Nakasawa to chase.

World Tag Team Championship: The Rebellion (Shimedzu & Miyamae) vs Rapid Danger (Iesada & Pathlow)

Kikkawa wins, Rapid Danger loses, and the final breakup of the INSPIRE faction occurs.

Junior Championship: Sensational Dragon vs Elemental III

SD has had a good run but its time to see if E3 can live up to his predecessors

30 Min Falls Sprint for Junior Tag Championship:

Black Heart Flying Squadron (Kiyaru & Scorpion) vs Little Fury (Shiomi & VENOM) vs Size of the Fight (Kokan & Konda) vs Universal Excellence (Yasujiro & Kurofuji)

In chaos anything can happen, but chaos is also where the Black Heart Brethren thrive

Title Shot vs Mask: Mister Macho vs Some Dude In A Mask

Time for the unveiling and Macho needs to be pushed before his gimmick stales

Tables Match: BURNING Cobra vs Yasuhiko Taira

Power wise, this would seem to be tailor made for the mullet, but I am going to go with the experience of BURNING Cobra to pull out a win.

Singles Challenge: Kinnojo Horri vs Yasunobu Masuno

Horri is still ahead of the mullets

Tag Contenders: Explosive Tension (Sanda & Okazaki) vs Wild Fire (Toshusai & Onodera)

Wild Fire have fizzled recently, so I go with Explosive Tension

Loser Leaves BHOTWG: American Optimus vs Super Joshuya

Honestly it could be either way, but I recall that AO doesn't meet current hiring restrictions

Glenn Trial Series: Kevin Christopher Glenn vs Marihito Masuko

Masuko isn't where Glenn gets his first win overseas

3-Way Tag: Snow Lizzard (Shiraishi & Kawate) vs Hidden Spark (Yoshikawa & Koyama) vs Blended Whisky (Fuganaga & O'Curle)

Going with the younger and home grown of the 3 jobber teams

Pre-Show: Young Lions vs Veterans 8 Man Tag:

Mystic Dragon, Omezo Shikitei, Red Panther & Ryushi Sato vs Gareth Wayne, Nisso Yuasha, Roku Sotomura & Toshiki Shibanumo

name says it all, young lions dont get wins over veterans

Rendering Challenge

I actually have a favour to ask of the readers

If anyone with rendering skills read's this diary, I have a unique top secret request for a new character that will be appearing in this diary (preferably making their first appearance at Night of the Burning Hammer- which I'm aiming to get posted next Friday/Saturday). As its 'top secret' you're going to have to PM me, as it's a new 'non wrestling character' that will add further depth to one of the wrestlers current direction in the diary.

I did originally PM this request to JHD1 a week ago, but it appears as though he is away but I'm hoping someone else can take on the challenge in his absence. I'll be very grateful if someone does this, as I'm looking forward to writing this character in the diary- moving forward from Night of the Burning Hammer.

Ok no need to reply to the above post now- jhd1 has returned from holiday and is taking care of it- I'm really looking forward to what he comes up with. :)

There is of course still time to get in predictions, though to be honest I realise the current regulars have done this already. At the earliest I see this being up on Wednesday, at the latest next Saturday but whenever it comes I'm confident it will be worth the wait.

Night of the Burning Hammer will finally be up today.....

Splitting this one into two parts, as it it is a long read and people may not want to read it in one sitting. The parts will be matches 1-6 (+ pre-show match), and then matches 7-11.

First part should be up soon, second part later tonight.

The Young Lion quartet set the pace for much of the match with all four coming close to securing victory, Mystic Dragon with the Mystic Wave (Corkscrew Senton Splash) on Gareth Wayne, Ryushi Sato with the Sato Hammer (Flying Chop) on Yuasha, Red Panther nailing Sotomura with the Red Mist (Dropsault-Superkick) and Shibanumo almost being forced to tap out to Shikitei's Broken Sword (Crucifix Arm Bar)....

But each time the 'veteran' quartet would find a way to make the save, and eventually they got their way back into the match through a combination of sneaking in a few short-cuts and the 'young lions' becoming frustrated at the series of near misses. Despite this it still looked like the 'young lions' were set for victory when Red Panther and Mystic Dragon combined on a double springboard drop-kick to take down Nisso Yuasha. Panther then headed up top but was held back by Gareth Wayne...that gave Yuasha enough time to recover and the 'Baby Elephant' sent Yuasha crashing back into the ring with the THUNDER DROP (Gorilla Press Powerslam), whils the rest of the 'veterans' did enough to hold back the rest of the 'young lions' from making the save.

Result: Mystic Dragon, Omezo Shikitei, Red Panther [L] & Ryushi Sato vs Gareth Wayne, Nisso Yuasha [w], Roku Sotomura & Toshiki Shibanumo in 9:47 via pinfall (Thunder Drop)

Rating: B-

Onodera's Assessment: The Free to air match before the PPV turns out to be a pretty good 8 man tag, despite being made up of young lions and lowercarders...it appears that everyone here was motivated to bring their best, as though they wanted to prove a point that they deserve a spot on the PPV card. In fact Yuasha-san getting the victory here seems appropriate, as he seems to be on the one with a 'point to prove' the most out of anyone here, as his frustrations at being over-looked and directionless since the break-up of The Behemoths appears to be being brought into focus a little more of late.

Main Show- Live on PPV with Emperor Sports

The show begins with a video hyping up the card for Night of the Burning Hammer, to the tune of Deadman's Galaxy Days by Thee Michelle Gun Elephant; each match is brought into focus but particular attention is given to the main event- the unfication match between Hiroaki Nakasawa and Tadiyuki Kikkawa- really putting over their long awaited singles showdown as one of, if not the biggest matches in Burning Hammer of the Wrestling Gods history.

~The Long Path of Glory~

Match #1: Junior Championship:

Sensational Dragon vs Elemental III

http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q236/Tigerkinney/th_BHOTWGJunior1.jpg

http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q236/Tigerkinney/th_SensationalDragon_jhd21.jpg vs http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q236/Tigerkinney/th_ElementalIII.jpg

Night of the Burning Hammer kicks off with a bang, with one of the most anticpated matches on the card the Junior Championship match between Sensational Dragon and the Best of the Super Juniors Cup holder Elemental III.

The start was unsuprisingly, given the magnitude of the match somewhat cagey with a period of circling before they locked up....they then engaged in some back and forth mat wrestling that ended up in a stale mate. Both tried to pick the pace up a little by going more to their kicking and striking arsenal, but once again found their opponent able to go strike for strike with them.

Elemental III was the first to force a break through of sorts nailing Dragon with a drop-kick and then sending the champion out of the ring with a spinning head-scissors....it then looked like Elemental III was going to go for the Elemental Space Flying Drop but was wise to put the brakes on when he saw Dragon move out of potential harms way.

Dragon was able to re-enter the ring but it was Elemental III who continued to push the pace and the 'Sensational One' ended up bailing from the ring to take a powder....Elemental III knowing that a count-out victory would be no good then launched himself over the top with the Space Flying Drop but Dragon managed to move out of the way and then nail the 'Third Generation Icon' with a Superkick before rolling back into the ring.

Elemental III managed to haul himself back up onto the apron to avoid being counted out but was met with a drop-kick from Dragon who then launched himself off the top turnbuckle to wipe out Elemental III with a moonsault press.

This time Dragon pitched the 'Third Generation Icon' into the ring and went for the cover......

Elemental III kicked out at two, but Dragon remained in control and set up for the Dragon Suplex but the BOSJ Cup holder was able to block and force a standing switch but Dragon reversed it again only for Elemental III to sweep the legs out from underneath the defending Junior Champion and get a hold of Dragon's ankle.....

Dragon had enough wits about him though to use his free leg to kick Elemental III away and ensure that Elemental III did not get the Ankle Holdo locked on fully....

Elemental III however soon reseized the momentum however nailing Dragon with a leg lariat and then dumping the Sensational One with a a belly to back suplex...that was followed by the Tri-Fecta Kick Series combination and then an ELEMENTAL SUPLEX !!

One......

Two.......

Thr.......

Dragon managed to kick out but remain rooted to the mat, and found himself once again vunverable to the ANKLE HOLDO....

This time Elemental III managed to get it locked on, but Dragon had enough fight in him to ensure that the 'Third Generation Icon' could not grapevine the leg and after much flailing he managed to make it to the ropes to force the rope-break.

Dragon then sneakily bailed to the outside again for another powder, much to Elemental III's frustration. Elemental III then rolled out of the ring, only for Dragon to sneak back in and then surprise the 'Third Generation Icon' with a baseball slide that sent Elemental III crashing into the barricade. Sensational Dragon then peppered Elemental III with a flurry of kicks before dragging the BOSJ Cup Holder up onto the apron, where he then attempted to set up for a Dragon Slice off the apron to the floor but Elemental III managed to block the attempt and counter into a DDT on the apron!

Elemental III then pitched Dragon into the ring and went for a cover.....

One....

Two.....

Dragon managed to kick out but a swift flurry of kicks kept Elemental III in the drivers seat and he butterflyed Dragon's arms to set up for the EARTH BREAKER but Dragon managed to block the attempt and then leverage himself to counter into a pin......

Elemental III kicked out and then managed to counter into a quick roll-up of his own.....

Dragon managed to kick out of that, as both then rose back to their feet and exchanged kick and strikes until Elemental III was able to daze Dragon enough to plant him with the ELEMENTAL SUPLEX.....

One....

Two.....

Thr......

Dragon managed to kick out but remained rooted to the mat, and Elemental III headed up top top set up for the INFERNO SPLASH, but Dragon found a burst of energy to once again rise back to his feet and then send the 'Third Generation Icon' crashing back into the ring with a hurracanrana...

Only for Elemental III to then surprise Dragon with a reverse STO and transition into the ELEMENTAL CLUTCH (Koji Clutch) but Dragon was able to find a counter as he managed to find leverage to once again force Elemental III's shoulders to the mat.....

One......

Two....

Thr......

Elemental III suddenly realised the predicament he was in and let go of the submission hold he had on Dragon, despite the fact that the Junior Champion looked close to passing out....

Elemental III then dragged the drained Dragon back up to a vertical base and set up for an Elemental Suplex but Dragon was proving to be something of a dead weight, until the Junior Champion suddenly sparked back into life fighting off Elemental III's attemps with a series of back elbows before forcing the standing switch and tossing the 'Third Generation Icon' with a release Dragon Suplex.....

The BOSJ Cup winner somehow managed to flip onto his feet but was unable to prevent Dragon pulling off his dizzying multi-rotation crucifix arm bar submission the DRAGON'S CROSS.....

Dragon wrenched back on the arm bar and Elemental III began to drop to his knees, but the 'Third Generation Icon' wasn't about to give up on his chance of becoming Junior Champion and despite the agony his arm was in, he dug into his reserves of fighting spirit to rise back to his feet and then battle his way to the ropes and force a rope break, much to Dragon's frustration.

Dragon then immediately looked to nail Elemental III with a super-kick but the 'Third Generation Icon' saw it coming stepping out of the way only for referee Terakado to accidently stumble in the way of the oncoming boot of the Junior Champion....

Elemental III seemed to be oblivious to that fact though when he then caught Sensational Dragon with a roundhouse kick and then followed up with a basement drop-kick before placing Dragon into the ANKLE HOLDO....

This time Elemental III had the leg of Dragon grapevined, and the Junior Champion was soon tapping the mat furiously but with no referee to confirm the tap out....it wasn't going to count. Elemental III soon realised this and went over to revive the still dazed Terakado.

http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q236/Tigerkinney/th_MarihitoMasuko_jhd1.jpg

But all of a sudden Marihito Masuko sneaked into the ring, and then planted Elemental III with the MASUKO CRADLE SHOCK, to the stunned silence of 30,000 BHOTWG fans and then a wave of jeers ran out for Masuko's shocking turn on what appeared to be his now former tag team partner.

Masuko wasn't done though as he was about to do the same to Sensational Dragon but the Junior Champion managed to fight it off and Masuko bailed out of the ring before he could feel any repercussions from interfering in the Sensational One's match.

But Elemental III remained rooted to the mat and Dragon saw the opportunity to head up top, just as Terakado was getting his wits back. The Junior Champion then launched himself off upon Elemental III with the DRAGON'S FIRE (Corkscrew 630 Senton).......

One......

Two.....

Thr......

Elemental III managed to kick out, but he after feeling the effects of Masuko's Cradle Shock and then the Dragon's Fire he was literally running on empty and despite being able to flurry back up to his feet he was unable to prevent being nailed with a superkick and then planted with a DRAGON SLICE (Shiranui)......

One....

Two......

Three !!

Sensational Dragon had managed to somewhat controversially hold onto the Junior Championship, though it has to be said that the controversy was not of his design and perhaps even he would admit that Elemental III would deserve a rematch. And if Dragon would feel aggrieved about Masuko just inferfering his match, Elemental III will feel even more aggrieved at being turned on by someone he considered a close ally.

Result: Sensational Dragon [w] bt Elemental III in 20:51 via pinfall (Dragon's Slice)

Sensational Dragon makes V11 defence of Burning Junior Championship

Rating: B+

Onodera's Assessment: I think alot of fans would have been expecting Dragon-san's long reign with the belt (over a year) to come an end here, so I think this result and the manner of it with Masuko-san's turn on Elemental-san thrown into the mix would have caught plenty off guard. Admittedly the shenanighan's did take a little bit away from the match and prevented this from becoming the out-right classic it could have been but it still made for a exciting opener and going forward I think it makes for a much more intriguing storyline between these three, than Elemental-san predictably having the big win here.

Post Match Comments:

Elemental III: You know what Masuko-san, I'm not going to ask why, I know why, I know why you did what you did but one thing I will say is that you are a fool to make an enemy of me. Your New Heroes is over, I am the only true hero amongst us and in the end Masuko-san, I will prevail.

Sensational Dragon: What's really irritating me, is that you people aren't going to be talking about how Sensational I am, they're going to be talking about that jealous jerk-ass Masuko-san. One thing I didn't need was his 'help' to beat Elemental-san...I woud have won anyway.

~Contemptious Breeders~

Match #2: World Tag Team Contenders Match:

Wild Fire (Tadakuni Toshusai & Takayuki Onodera) vs

Explosive Tension (Chuichi Sanda & Masaaki Okazaki)

http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q236/Tigerkinney/th_TadakuniToshusai_USPW1.jpg & http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q236/Tigerkinney/th_TakayukiAvatar.jpg

vs

http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q236/Tigerkinney/th_ChuichiSanda_jhd21.jpg & http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q236/Tigerkinney/th_MasaakiOkazaki.jpg

These two teams have becoming rather familiar with each other of late, having fought to a double count-out draw and then clashing again in the three-way Tag Title match with The Rebellion during the Combustion Tour shows leading up to 'Night'. The winners of this match would be earning themselves another title shot, where as the losers would likely find themselves having to build up their title credentials once again.

The budding rivalry between these two teams, was highlighted when they went right each other as soon as the bell sounded and the match immediately broke down into a 'Donnybrook'.... Referee Koetsu Shinozaki was soon able to get a lid on things though and with order restored, and some steam let out of each sides system...the match then settled down into a cagier affair for the next few minutes with neither side really seizing the advantage.

That was until Sanda managed to sneak in a cheap shot on Onodera, something that saw Toshusai immediately protest to Shinzoaki about, but only served to put his partner in more of a predicament as Explosive Tension, combined on a drop toe hold/running knee strike combo.

Onodera managed to kick out, but for the first time in the match one team was fully in control, the RAGE duo then proceeded to work over Onodera in the corner, much to the frustration of Toshusai, with the back of Onodera being of a particular concern for their methodical abuse.

It became obvious as to why Explosive Tension, were targetting Onodera's back when Okazaki placed the 'Iron Man' in the CENTURY CRAB LIFT (Leglock Cloverleaf) but despite having suffered minutes of relentless punishment, Onodera was able to dig deep and battle his way to the bottom rope, much to Okazaki's immediate frustration.

Explosive Tension then decided that something more impactful was to be called for, but Ondoera was able to duck a EXPLOSION KICK II (Spin Kick) from Sanda...and Okazaki was errantly nailed instead....the 'Iron Man' then nailed Sanda with the END OF YOU (Rolling Elbow to the Back of the Head) before collapsing to the canvas, too worn down to go for the cover.....

A recovered Okazaki was able to catch up to Onodera, grabbing the 'Iron Man's' right leg but Onoder was able to kick Okazaki away with his free leg and get the tag into Toshusai.

'Wild Charisma' came in with his usual whirlwind like energy, taking both of Explosive Tension down with a series of clothesline's before planting Okazaki with the SPINESHOCKER but before he could go for the cover, Sanda nailed him from behind but Toshusai immediately spun around flipped the double bird and then after a boot to the mid-section drilled Sanda with the SHOCK TREATMENT (Double Underhook Backbreaker) before turning his attention back to the legal man Okazaki....

One....

Two....

Thr......

Toshusai's frustration was clear to see as Okazaki got the shoulder up to keep the match alive.... but 'Wild Charisma' was still in control and he began to place Okazaki in a double underhook but 'No Mercy' managed to squirm free and then after a desperation rake of Toshusai's eyes took 'Wild Charisma' down with a legsweep before looking for the GROUNDED ARM BAR but Toshusai was able to use his long legs to reach the bottom rope before Okazaki could truly lock it in.

Toshusai regained control against Okazaki with a series of lefts and rights, and then to whip 'No Mercy' into the ropes to build up momentum for a more impactful Spine Shocker or the Shock Kick but Okazaki somehow managed to reverse the momentum of the Irish Whip and sent Toshusai straight into the on-coming boot of Sanda, as 'Wild Charisma' found himself nailed with an EXPLOSION KICK (Running Boot).....

One....

Two....

Thr.....

Onodera dived back in to make a desperation save, but was soon back to the outside by Explosive Tension.....

Exposive Tension then peppered Toshusai with a series of kicks, before setting up for the EX2 (Double Exploder Suplex) but Toshusai found another burst of fighting spirit and countered into a double suplex of his own. 'Wild Charisma' then levelled Explosive Tension with a double clothesline. Toshusai then tagged in the re-freshed Onodera as both members of Explosive Tension squirmed out of the ring to try and re-group but the 'Iron Man' climbed up to the top turnbuckle and then came crashing down upon the RAGE duo with a flying fore-arm.

Onodera then pitched Sanda back into the ring, and straight into the on-coming boot of Toshusai, as Sanda found himself nailed with the SHOCK KICK (Bicycle Kick)....

One....

Two.....

But referee Shinozaki rightly waved off Toshusai's pin attempt with immediate effect, remembering that he was no longer the legal man. Toshusai lost his cool, as he began to argue with the referee, allowing for Sanda to recover and nail Toshusai from behind, but Onodera the legal man was back in the ring and he was able to then plant Sanda with the 02 SUPLEX (Bridging German Suplex)......

One......

Two....

Thr.....

Okazaki dived back in to make the save but was pulled back out to the floor by Toshusai. Onodera then pulled Sanda back up to a vertical base and began to set up for the CALL THE DOCTOR but Sanda managed to wriggle his way out and then dump Onodera with a Belly to Back Suplex.....

Okazaki and Toshusai had both decided to then race back to their corners to look for the tag and it was Sanda who was able to win the 'race', as Okazaki raced across to knock Toshusai off the apron with a climbing knee strike, only for the recovered Onodera to then dump 'No Mercy' with a release German Suplex.....

One....

Two....

Okazaki kicked out but Toshusai rolled back into the ring, and Wild Fire combined on a double team vertical suplex, before setting up for the 8 WAY SANTA, as Toshusai lifted Okazaki up with the wheelbarrow only for Sanda to break back into the ring and nail Toshusai with the EXPLOSION KICK II (Spin Kick)......

Onodera was then nailed with a double running boot from the RAGE pair before being dumped with the EX2 (Double Exploder)......

One......

Two....

Thr......

Toshusai dived back across to make the save, but was then on the receiving end of a boot into the mid-section and then dumped with an EXPLODER from Sanda.

Meanwhile Okazaki had managed to turn Onodera over into the CENTURY CRAB LIFT....

Onodera tried to hold on and fight his way to the ropes, but unlike earlier he had taken as much punishment to his back that he could withstand and despite one last push, he came up short of reaching the ropes and he was forced to tap.

It was another hard fought encounter between these two teams but one that see's Explosive Tension descively earn the victory and another shot at the World Tag Team Championship.

Result: Chuichi Sanda & Masaaki Okazaki [w] bt Tadakuni Toshusai & Takayuki Onodera [L] in 14:18 via submission (Century Crab Lift)

Rating: B

Onodera's Assessment: And I don't get put myself over on Burning Hammer's grandest stage...what the hell am I thinking. Self deprecation aside, this was a very solid tag team match, pitched about right...not there to steal the show but also to keep the crowd's mood up after an exciting but controversial opening contest. Explosive Tension went over here, as I feel at this stage they will be able to provide the better match up with either of their prospective opponents from the Tag Title match- that being said Toshusai-san and I did have an excellent match against The Rebellion back in September.

Post Match Comments:

Masaaki Okazaki: One objective down, another to be achieved.....

Chuichi Sanda: No matter who emerges with the Tag Team Championship later tonight, we will be there to take them down.

Takayuki Onodera: I'm not going to say that it's time to end Wild Fire, but perhaps Toshusai-san and I need to take a break, perhaps refocus on singles competition again and reconcile stronger down the road.

Tadakuni Toshusai: NOOOO!!! WIILDDD FIRRREEE!! can no break up, NOOOO!!! BREAAKKK UPPP!!! NO, NO!!! NOOOOO!!!

Takayuki Onodera: Toshusai-san I said nothing about breaking up, I just meant that perhaps we could focus on singles for a bit, because I think it might help us become stronger.

Tadakuni Toshusai: YESSSSS!!! STRONGER!!!

Match #3: Loser Leaves BHOTWG:

American Optimus vs Super Joshuya

http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q236/Tigerkinney/th_BlackEagle_alt5.jpg vs http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q236/Tigerkinney/th_SuperJoshuya-1.jpg

Super Joshuya has never been able to come to terms with the fact that he lost his right to stay in Dragon Feet 2K9 to American Optimus last month, and it appears that Optimus can't move on entirely either from the constant attention of his former tag team partner...with the only solution being that this time it's not just a case of one of them having to leave a stable, one of them will be forced to leave BHOTWG all together.

It's not really a great strength of either man but given the resentment that they have built up for one another it was no surprise to see them immediately go after one another with straight forward brawling as soon as the bell sounded.

The fight soon spilt on the floor, and with the 'must be a winner' stipulation in place there was no twenty count either....soon enough the chaotic brawling between the former tag partners turned hated rivals soon spilt out into amongst the crowd. American Optimus managed to pick up a folded chair and jam it into Joshuya's mid-section causing the 'Nippon Luchador' to double over, before American Optimus looked to set up for the O-Bomb, but Joshuya stood firm and back body-dropped Joshuya into a row of chairs, as the fans scurried from their seats.

However despite there being no count-out the match still had to be settled in the ring, and Joshuya picked Optimus up and began to drag 'gaijin legacy' back to the ring. American Optimus however re-took control with an eye-rake, before whipping the 'Nippon Luchador' into the ring-steps. American Optimus then followed up with a flurry of hard kicks to Joshuya, before pitching the Junior Division veteran back into the ring.

Joshuya kicked out of a pin attempt from American Optimus, but 'Gaijin Legacy' remained in control and set up for a Brainbuster but Joshuya managed to block the attempt and countered into a Falcon Arrow.

Joshuya then decided to head up top, but American Optimus was back to his feet only for Joshuya to knock him back down with a Leg-Lariat. Joshuya then snapped off a head-scissors take down, before rolling a disorientated Optimus up with a cradle pin.

Optimus kicked out, and then quickly countered into a pin attempt of his own....Joshuya kicked out of that and they exchanged rolling cradles but neither of them was able to force their opponents shoulders to the mat for a full three count during the exchange.

Back to their feet, and one time former tag partners exchanged strikes once again, until American Optimus was able to once again seize the advantage with a sneaky kick to the groin of Joshuya, before drilling the 'Nippon Luchador' with a Brainbuster.....

One.....

Two......

Joshuya kicked out but soon found himself placed in the OPTIMIZER (Dragon Sleeper Surfboard)....

'Gaijin Legacy' wrenched back on the hold but Joshuya wasn't about to tap away his spot on the Burning Hammer roster and the 'Nippon Luchadore' galantly hauled himself and Optimus over to the ropes. But with that effort just to make it to the ropes, Joshuya looked a spent force and American Optimus saw the opportunity to head up top.

So confident that Joshuya had nothing left, American Optimus took his time, posing before the crowd before launching off with the O-ZONE SKY FLYER (Shooting Star Press)....

But Optimus posturing had cost him, as Joshuya rolled out of the way and 'gaijin legacy' ended up crashing and burning.

And then in a shocking turn of events, Joshuya then blatantly low blowed American Optimus from behind, just as 'gajin legacy' returned to his feet before planting his former tag partner into the canvas with the J-DROP (Flip Over DDT).....

One.......

Two.....

Three !!!

And just like that American Optimus' career in Burning Hammer has come to an abrupt end. As they leave the ring Joshuya has a smile on his face that says he is rather pleased with his actions that lead to victory, one now has to question whether this was Joshuya exacting revenge on Optimus, for his former partner's leaning towards using nefarious tactics or whether or not this is a change in attitude for the Junior Division veteran.

On the other side of the coin, American Optimus cut a disconsolate figure in the centre of the ring, as he tried to come to terms with the fact that he was no longer a member of the BHOTWG roster. Though he never really reached his potential in Burning Hammer, the gaijin junior division member gets a good ovation from the fans, as he walks up the BHOTWG entrance ramp for the final time.

Result: Super Joshuya [w] bt American Optimus [L] in 9:44 via pinfall (J-Drop)

Rating: B-

Onodera's Assessment: For a match of this nature, it did feel a little rushed but on the other hand they packed alot of intensity and emotion into the time they were given, all in all it made for a good but not great match, perfectly fine for low priortity 'filler' on an 11 match card for a 4 hour supershow...if every match was a 'classic' within the first 3 matches, the fans would be burned out before the show has even got started.

Given Kaneko-san's instructions to me when I took on the role of head booker, and Herring-san (American Optimus) previous problems with the law, it was inevitable his time with BHOTWG had to come an end, though surely Kaneko-san knew about Herring-san's personal history, before he hired him. In fact I find it a real shame that we had to cut American Optimus' Burning Hammer tenure prematurely, especially as his 'problems' were well in the past. Herring-san actually has two months left on his contract, but it felt natural to end his time within BHOTWG here and for the final two months, he will be working for Hinote Dojo. We can only hope he decides to take his talents back to his homeland, rather than sign on with one of our rivals.

Super Joshuya: You reap what you sow, faux Optimus-san. How does it feel to have a taste of the very medicine you were giving out. Oh how does it feel faux-Optimus-san. You were never worthy to wear the mask of the great Optimus-san and now Burning Hammer is finally rid of you. I can move on now, for as I proved tonight...I am not finished, not finished at all!!

Match #4: Kinnojo Horri vs Yasunobu Masuno

http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q236/Tigerkinney/th_KinnojoHorri_jhd1.jpg vs http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q236/Tigerkinney/th_YasunobuMasuno-1.jpg

There is no doubting that either Horri or Masuno would have wanted to be involved in a more high profile match on the Night of the Burning Hammer card, as this is about little more than personal and stable pride on the line but that's not to say neither would be motivated to gain the victory here.

The early exchanges see them lock up with a Test of Strength, with Horri more than holding his own against his slightly larger opponent. After a while Masuno becomes frustrated with that and gets in a cheap shot but Horri is not one to back down from a brawl and he immediately gives back, as good as he got.

Masuno's slight power advantage does begin to come into play however, as he manages to scoop Horri up for a Powerslam after an eye-rake. That gets Masuno a two count, before 'the Hammer' then put the boots to Horri. That just seemed to fire up 'Mr One Million Per Cent Burning Hammer' but the rally was cut off with a lariat and then a vertical suplex for a two count.

Masuno then hoisted Horri upon his shoulders to get up for the DAY OF RACKENING, but he soon found that Horri wasn't worn down enough as the former Burning World Champion slipped off and then dug down deep to summon upon all his strength to dump Masuno with a German Suplex !!

One...

Two....

Horri was too worn down to hold onto the bridge. Referee Umeki then applied a double count, but both Horri and Masuno were able to stagger back up to their feet and then exchange more clubbing blows...neither one backing down......

Horri then went for the BURNING LARIAT but Masuno was able to block and the suddenly snare 'Mr One Million Per Cent Burning Hammer' in the MASUNO DEEP SLEEPER (Arm Hook Sleeper)......

Masuno had it locked on right in the middle of the ring and Horri was fading fast.......

Referee Umeki went to check on the fading Horri.....

Horri's arm was raised but flopped down......

Umeki raised the arm again....

And again Horri's free arm just flopped to the side.......

Horri's arm was raised one more time.......

'Mr One Million Per Cent' Burning Hammer still had some fight left in him....as he suddenly came back to life, a burst of fighting spirit seeing him battle his way out with a series of back elbows into Masuno's mid-section, eventually forcing 'the Hammer' to relinquish the hold.

Masuno still looked to be in control though and after a series of clubbing blows to Horri, he began to set up for a vertical suplex.....but Horri managed to battle his way out with a series of side elbows and then all of a sudden mustered up the strength to plant Masuno with what looked to be an attempted FIERCE SPINEBUSTER (High Angle Spinebuster)...it's not as impactful as Horri would have liked, but it's enough to take Masuno off his feet and plant the 'Hammer' onto the mat......

Both manage to beat Umeki's double ten count, but it is Horri who begins to seize the momentum, as he connects with a lariat to rock Masuno, and then a side-slam to plant 'the Hammer' onto the canvas.....

That gets a two count for Horri, who then makes a rather uncharacteristic decision to head for the top turnbuckle with Masuno still planted to the mat, but going into unfamiliar territory proves to be a mistake for Horri and Masuno is able to recover, and bring Horri crashing back into the ring with a superplex.

Masuno then lifted Horri up with a vertical suplex and then brought 'Mr One Million Per Cent Burning Hammer' crashing back down with the BLAST TEST (Vertical Suplex Side Slam)......

One......

Two.......

Thr........

Horri shows his incredible resillience by kicking out at the last split second, to the immediate frustration of Masuno. Masuno is go incensed and convinced that it should have been three, that he begins to argue with referee Umeki.

Masuno's loss of focus allows for Horri to recover and then spin Masuno around before delivering a series of right and lefts, but Masuno is able to withstand the flurry and once again sets up for another BLAST TEST but this time Horri is able to battle out and then all of a sudden nail 'the Hammer' with the BURNING LARIAT!!!

One......

Two.......

Three !!!

Masuno had dominated much of the match, but when the BURNING LARIAT connects, it is just about impossible for anyone, even the very best to be able to muster up the strength to kick out before a three count.

Result: Kinnojo Horri [w] bt Yasunobu Masuno [L] in 11:31 via pinfall (Burning Lariat)

Rating: B

Onodera's Assessment: One of those matches where the popularity of the performers in the ring, in particular Horri-san is able to lift a fairly average contest from an in-ring perspective. Let's be honest a Horri- Masuno power/brawl battle is never going to win any Match of the Year honour's anytime soon. That's not to say though that it wasn't entertaining and for what it was, they did a pretty good job of getting the crowd invested into a match with pretty much no build, but then again these two have always been rivals of sorts, with a firmly entrenched Sekigiun babyface and the other a firmly entrenched heel.

Post Match Comments:

Kinnojo Horri: Masuno-san you have always been a tough opponent, that I will give you but the difference between you and me, the difference that has meant I have been a World Champion and you have not, is that I have more HEART! And it's always going to be the difference until you stop believing in short-cuts and trust your own fighting spirit.

Yasunobu Masuno: I suppose all the Sekigun worshippers are having a great time laughing at my current slump, oh laugh it up fanboys....because I'm going to be wiping those smiles off your faces, because when the tide turns, it will turn with an almighty destructive force...that your so called heroes won't be able to handle.

~Welcome To The Big Leagues~

Match #5: Glenn 20 Match Trial Series (#5):

Kevin Christopher Glenn vs Marihito Masuko

http://s137.photobucket.com/albums/q236/Tigerkinney/th_KCGlenn.jpg vs http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q236/Tigerkinney/th_MarihitoMasuko_jhd1.jpg

There's a little more heat added to this match, following Masuko's actions from earlier. It's not so much the fans want to see the young lion Glenn get his first win, more the case that they want to see Masuko get immediate comeuppance following his controversial interference during the Junior Championship match- the downturned thumbs from a fair amount of fans as the 'Painted Wonder' made his way to the ring were very noticeable.

The match began like so many Junior Division matches do with some high speed chain wrestling, and the young lion Glenn was more than a match for the former two time Junior Champion. Frustrated that he wasn't able to put an early stamp on the match Masuko went out for a powder. Glenn showed his inexperience at that point by giving chase, leading to him being out-runned by Masuko and then nailed with a drop-kick. The 'Painted Wonder' then took Glenn off his feet with a basement drop-kick and then went for a roll-up....

Glenn however managed to to roll through into a pin attempt of his own, only for Masuko to reverse the pinning attempt again and then put his foot on the ropes for leverage.....

One.....

Two.....

Thr.....

Referee Shinozaki saw Masuko's nefarious tactics, and discounted the pin. The Painted Wonder lost focused for a moment to argue with the ref, before turning round into a stiff fore-arm from Glenn, before the 'Dixieland Wonderkid' planted Masuko with a vertical suplex for a two count.

Glenn then decided to head up top, but was cut off by a recovered Masuko, but a hurracanrana attempt by the 'Painted Wonder' was blocked and Glenn then nailed Masuko with a missile drop-kick.

The former two time Junior Champion managed to roll out of the ring before Glenn could follow up, much to the gaijin young lion's frustration. This time Glenn decided to stay in the ring, given that the decision to give chase earlier proved to be a mistake.

However it proved to be a mistake this time, not to keep up the pressure...as it allowed for Masuko to recover, and the 'Painted Wonder' was able to side-step an attempt at a Tune Up The Sunshine Band and then nail Glenn with a leg-lariat....Masuko then snapped off a head-scissors before going out onto the apron and then planting the 'Dixieland Wonderkid' with the INTO THE WHITE (Springboard Bulldog)......

One......

Two.....

Thr........

Glenn showed great fighting spirit by kicking out, much to the 'Painted Wonder's' immediate frustration. Masuko then looked to set up for the MASUKO CRADLE (Bridging Leg Hook Belly to Back Suplex) but Glenn was able to fight out and then force a standing switch befoe planting Mausko with a Bridging German Suplex......

One......

Two.......

The gaijin young lion wasn't quite able to keep hold off the bridge. But as both staggered back up to their feet, it was Glenn who was able to maintain control, with a flurry of strikes before planting Masuko with the LOUISIANA SPIRAL (Twisting Brainbuster).......

One.....

Two......

Thr.......

Masuko managed to just kick out, but remained rooted to the mat, so Glenn saw the opportunity to head up top........

Only for Masuko to move out of the way just in time, as Glenn crashed and burned with the 450 DEGREE SPLASH.......

Masuko then went for a quick roll-up on the 'Dixieland Wonderkid'

One.....

Two.....

Thr......

Glenn was able to kick out, but then found himself trapped in the PINK DREAM (Straight Jacket Triangle Choke) but the Masuko had applied the hold too near the ropes, and Glenn was able to force the rope-break but the 'Painted Wonder' was going to make sure that he made full use of the five count, before having to relinquish the hold.

Masuko feeling that he was now in full control, then set up for the MASUKO CRADLE SHOCK (Swinging Leg Hook Fireman's Carry Slam) but Glenn was able to slip off the shoulders and then plant Masuko with a Belly to Back Suplex......

The 'Dixieland Wonderkid' then drilled Masuko with a Brainbuster for a two count, before transitioning into the DEEP SOUTH DREAM (Front Chancery).....

Masuko looked as though he was on the verge of passing out to the gaijin young lion's submission hold...

But somehow managed to blow 'Pink Mist' into the face of Glenn and somehow getting the sneaky tactic past the eyes of referee Shinozaki....Perhaps the referee was simply too shocked to re-act, as the last time the 'Painted Wonder' had resorted to those sort of tactics was over two years ago.

The now disorientated Glenn was forced to relinquish the hold, and despite nearly passing out Masuko was still able to nail Glenn with a drop-kick and then snap off a head-scissors before placing Glenn into his own choke based submission the 'PINK DREAM' this time Masuko had it locked on right in the middle of the ring.......Glenn tried to hang on valiantly but he did not have enough fight left to make it to the ropes or battle his way out of the submission and in the end Shinozaki saw no chance but to call for the bell.

Result: Marihito Masuko [w] bt Kevin Christopher Glenn [L] in 12:56 via submission (Pink Dream).

Rating: B+

Onodera's Assessment: Wednesday's match against Pathlow-san probably edges this out as the best match of Glenn-san's fledgling Burning Hammer career, but this was another 'brave' loss against a top quality opponent that will help to accelerate his standing amongst the fans. The heel turn earlier from Masuko-san, obviously helped generate a little extra heat for the match.

Post Match Comments:

Marihito Masuko: The path of self righteousness lead to a recurring dead-end, now a new path has been forced open, a path that can lead to ultimate glory, there will be victims along the way...victims I can no longer show mercy, for mercy is a sign of the weak.

Kevin Christopher Glenn (in English): Dang it Masuko-san, I got respect for ya and all, nah scrub that last line, I had respect for ya, 'cause what ya did dahn 'serv any respect ...ya got that right.

Match #6: 30 Minute Falls Sprint for the Burning Junior Tag Team Championship:

Black Heart Flying Squadron vs Little Fury vs

It was now time for the second title match action of the night, as Black Heart Flying Squadron were about to put their Junior Tag Titles on the line in a 30 minute Falls Sprint, would the titles remain intact around their waists or would new champions emerge?

One more note to make is that if any of the teams were to end up tied in falls at the end of the 30 minutes, then the match will go into a sudden death- next fall wins overtime.

It's Tornado rules but only two start out in the ring, and it's Hyosuke Kokan and Yoshii Shiomi who kicked things off and their cagey chain wrestling set the stall out for pretty much the early portion of the match, as all teams tagged in and out...tried to nab a surprise pin but each time their opponent would either kick out or someone would step into the ring to make sure that the save would be made. Even though the first fall wasn't going to win this match, every team wanted to get their noses in front early.

Invevitably though with some many bodies involved, the match had to 'breakdown' eventually and the descent into chaos was sparked by Universal Excellence sending the Black Heart Flying Squadron out of the ring with a double drop-kick but then be drop-kicked themselves by Little Fury.....Little Fury however were then sent to the floor by Size of the Fight...who then followed up with their trademark suicide dives.

That put Size of the Fight in control, and they were able to set up for the BIG FIGHT ENDER (Powerbomb/Neckbreaker) combo on VENOM, when the match was brought back into the ring but Shiomi was able to make the save and then quickly roll-up Konda from behind....

One.....

Two.....

Thr.......

Yasujiro broke up the pin a springboard splash, then Kurofuji rolled into the ring and then dumped Kokan with the TOHOKU THUNDER SUPLEX (Rolling Release Suplex).....

One.....

Two....

Three !!!

Golden Scorpion tried to get into make the save, but he was too late, as Universal Excellence nabbed the early advantage.....

Fall #1: Haru Kurofuji over Hyosuke Kokan in 6:27 via pinfall (Tohoku Thunder Suplex)

Black Heart Flying Squadron-0, Little Fury-0, Size of the Fight-0, Universal Excellence-1

But Universal Excellence advantage was short lived, as a recovered Konda then stunned the in-coming Golden Scorpion with the KONDA KUTTER (Jumping Cutter) to nab a quick pin fall, and put Size of the Fight at one fall each with Universal Excellence.

Fall #2: Kansuke Konda over Golden Scorpion in 7:05 via pinfall (Konda Kutter)

Black Heart Flying Squadron-0, Little Fury-0, Size of the Fight-1, Universal Excellence-1

The match then settled into a pattern where the two teams without a fall each, the defending champions Black Heart Flying Squadron and Little Fury began to work together against Size of the Fight and Universal Excellence, with both teams resorting to cheap shots amongst the chaos, including Golden Scorpion drop-kicking a chair into the face of Hyosuke Kokan and VENOM crotching Barei Yasujiro on the middle rope. But the BHFS were caught off guard again, when the Awesome Kiyaru after having planted Haru Kurofuji with his trademark Tilt-A-Whirl Legsweep was then planted into the canvas with a Spinning Facebuster from Shiomi who then transitioned into a crossface....Kiyaru found himself caught in the SUBLIME CROSSFACE....

Scorpion was then taken down with a drop toe hold by VENOM and then placed in the STING IN THE TAIL (Cross Kneelock)....

Kiyaru tapped, and it was now only the defending champion's who were playing catch-up.

Fall #3: Yoshii Shiomi over The Awesome Kiyaru in 11:24 via submission (Sublime Crossface)

Black Heart Flying Squadron-0, Little Fury-1, Size of the Fight-1, Universal Excellence-1

Scorpion's hand was quivering too and he looked on the verge of tapping out, only for Yasujiro to make the save with a basement drop-kick. It wasn't so much than Yasujiro was saving the BHFS, that they didn't want to give Little Fury the advantage and momentum of going ahead in the match.

The match continued to be battle at a fast pace with bodies flying in and around the ring, and all four teams coming close to registering a fall over the next few minutes, with both VENOM and Konda almost nabbing surprise roll-ups for their teams on Kurofuji and Scorpion respectively, but after kicking out of Konda's roll-up it looked as though Scorpion was about to put the BHFS on the board when he drilled Konda with a BRAINBUSTER, only for Kurofuji to break up the pin attempt with the KAMIKAZE HEADBUTT, Yasujiro then caught an in-coming Yoshii Shiomi upon his shoulders and then dumped the 'Sublime One' with the YASUJIRO SUPLEX (Electric Chair dropped into a Bridging German)....

One.....

Two.....

Three

Kurofuji was able to drop-kick both Kiyaru and VENOM off the apron, whilst Kokan was a fraction too late, as Universal Excellence went one ahead of both Size of the Fight and Little Fury and perhaps more signicantly two ahead of the reigning champions the Black Heart Flying Squadron, whose reign as champions was now beginning to look in serious danger of coming to an end.

Fall #4: Barei Yasujiro over Yoshii Shiomi (Yasujiro Suplex) in 16:11 via pinfall (Yasujiro Suplex)

Black Heart Flying Squadron-0, Little Fury-1, Size of the Fight-1, Universal Excellence-2

Now you would think that Universal Excellence would play cagey given their position, but that does not appear to be in their nature and they continued to be right in the thick of the action as they looked to secure a third fall, but that lead to Kurofuji being caught with the 'ENGAGE THE RAGE (Reverse STO/Enziguri) combo by Little Fury...... Yasujiro made the save and then combined with Size of the Fight on a drop-kick assisted double suplex only for the former two time champions to quickly turn on the 'Mighty Mouse and plant Yasujiro with the BIG FIGHT ENDER from , but desperate not to see another team get a two fall lead on them the Black Heart Flying Squadron made the save before Kiyaru sneakily crotched Konda from behind, whilst Scorpion drilled Kokan with a Brainbuster.

Konda kicked out of Kiyaru's quick roll-up but was then planted with a springboard drop-kick assisted Leg-sweep from the defending champions.....

One....

Two......

Kurofuji made the save, but was nailed with an Enziguri from Scorpion who then hoisted 'Tohoku Thunder' upon his shoulders as Kiyaru headed up top.....

ULTRA EFFECT (Electric Chair assisted Forward Somersault Stunner) !!!......

One.....

Two......

Three

The champions had finally registered a fall on the board, and thus kept their hopes of winning the title alive.

Fall #5: The Awesome Kiyaru over Haru Kurofuji in 20:02 via pinfall (Ultra Effect)

Black Heart Flying Squadron-1, Little Fury-1, Size of the Fight-1, Universal Excellence-2

Hyosuke Kokan then tried to catch Kiyaru off guard with a quick roll-up, only for VENOM to make the save and then try to do the same to Kokan. Several of these quick pin attemps then continued for the next minute, but each time there would be someone from one of the opposing teams to make the save.....

The match then really broke down with many battles happening in and out of the ring, the wildest of which saw the Black Heart Flying Squadron bring a ladder into play only for it to be turned against them, and for Barei Yasujiro to use it as a launching pad to come crashing down upon Scorpion with the MIGHTY MOUSE AIR ATTACK (Sky Twister Press).....

Yasujiro pitched Scorpion back into the ring after that and went for the pin, but that was broken up by a SHIOMI BOMB DROP (High Angle Senton Bomb) from Shiomi......

One....

Kokan intervened and then dumped Shiomi with the ELECTRIC SHOCKER SUPLEX (Double Chickenwing Suplex)......

Kiyaru broke it up with the ETHEREAL KILLER (Springboard Shooting Star Press).....

Only to receive a boot to the mid-section and then drilled with the KONDA DRIVER (Fisherman Driver) by Kansuke Konda.....

Konda however was then nailed with an Enziguri from VENOM who then spiked the 'Big Fight Player' with the INFECTIOUS SPIKE (Spike DDT)....

One.....

Two.....

Thr......

Kurofuji made the save and then looked to set up for the TOHOKU THUNDER SUPLEX, but before he could deliver it he was nailed with a drop-kick from a recovered Golden Scorpion, before the 'Gold and Black Attack' then planted Kurofuji with the SCORPION STINGER (Leg Trap Sunset Flip Powerbomb).....

One......

Two....

Thr.......

Shiomi desperately dived over to make the save, to prevent the BHFS from going to two falls, especially when he nailed Scorpion with a gamengiri but the Little Fury man did not see an in-coming Awesome Kiyaru, as the 'Dark Enigma' busted out the rarely seen LORD OF THE RING (Twisting Springboard Tornado DDT).......

One.....

Two

Three

Despite being down for much of the match, the Black Heart Flying Squadron were now tied with Universal Excellence going into the final stretch of the match, whilst both Little Fury and Size of the Fight tied on one fall a piece were looking to gain a second to force sudden death overtime.

Fall #6: The Awesome Kiyaru over Yoshii Shiomi in 25:05 via pinfall (Lord Of The Ring)

Black Heart Flying Squadron-2, Little Fury-1, Size of the Fight-1, Universal Excellence-2

Kansuke Konda had climbed up top and looked as though he was about to launch himself off with the KONDA SPLASH, upon a downed VENOM but he was soon cut off by Golden Scorpion, who was looking to drill the 'Big Fight Player' with the ANEURYSM BRAINBUSTER but both were soon joined by everyone else, ending up in a 'Tower of Doom'.

As bodies lay strewn across the canvas with the time ticking down it was VENOM who eventually pulled off the powerbomb to send everyone crashing to the mat, that was able to get to his feet first...he was able to nail Kokan with the V-STINGER (Shining Wizard Enziguri) but was then sent caught with a leg lariat from Barei Yasujiro....the momentum of which sent 'Lethal Infection' into a Bridging German Suplex' from Kurofuji........

Yasujiro then followed up with a Standing Shooting Star Press (Universal Studios)......

One......

Two......

Thr........

Golden Scorpion and Yoshii Shiomi made simultaneous saves...Shiomi with a standing senton splash on Kurofuji and Scorpion with a drop-kick to send Yasujiro out of the ring....Shiomi however then staggered right into a gamengiri from Scorpion, who then went out onto the apron to set up for the GOLDEN SHOT (Slingshot Legdrop) only for the 'Gold and Black Attack' to be suddenly be caught with a KONDA KUTTER (Jumping Cutter) by Kansuke Konda.....

But just as the Big Fight Player was about to make the pin and near enough force the match into a three way sudden death overtime, he suddenly received a faceful of Black Mist from The Awesome Kiyaru and then planted into the canvas with the KIYARU EFFECT (Forward Somersault Stunner)......

One......

Two....

Three.....

Surely now the Black Heart Flying Squadron would retain their titles......

But no Barei Yasujiro had dived across at the last split second to make the save, Kiyaru once again blew Black Mist, but the 'Mighty Mouse' was able to side-step out of the way and instead it was Hyosuke Kokan who received a faceful of the mist.....

Kurofuji then drop-kicked Kiyaru out of the ring, only to then be nailed with an Enziguri from VENOM.....

Little Fury set up for the ENGAGE THE RAGE on Yasujiro but the save was made by Kansuke Konda who wanted to keep Size of the Fight's own hopes of forcing a sudden death three way alive, but the 'Big Fight Player' was then met with a boot into the mid-section by Yasujiro who then drilled Konda into the canvas with the MIGHTY MOUSE DRIVER (Half Nelson Lifted Wheelbarrow Driver)......

The bell was about to ring.....

One.....

Two.....

Three !!!!!

Barei Yasujiro had just got his pinfall in, in time and with three falls in the match Universal Excellence had become the new Junior Tag Team Champions!!

Final Fall (#7): Barei Yasujiro over Hyosuke Kokan in 29:59 via pinfall (Mighty Mouse Driver)

Black Heart Flying Squadron-2, Little Fury-1, Size of the Fight-1, Universal Excellence-3

The crowd shared with Universal Excellence's first championship victory in BHOTWG, whilst the other teams especially the out-going champs the BHFS cut for-lorn frustated figures after such a physically and emotionally draining match. The Flying Squadron will be even more frustrated by the fact that they didn't even lose a single fall to the new champions.

Result: Universal Excellence [w] bt Black Heart Flying Squadron, Size of the Fight and Little Fury in 30:00 after scoring the most falls.

Universal Excellence win the Burning Junior Tag Team Championship

Rating: A

Ondodera's Assessment: Lots of high spots but not a spot-fest....amongst the many high-spots the way the falls unfolded kept the crowd hooked throughout the entire 30 minutes. We had the defending champions almost pulling off a come from behind victory and almost getting the third decisive fall through nefarious means, Little Fury and Size of the Fight both looking to force the sudden death overtime and of course Universal Excellence eventually triumphing with only a second left to win their first championship....mix in that rollercoaster with saw memorable spots....Yasujiro-san's Mighty Mouse Air Attack from a ladder, Kiyaru-san busting out the ultra rare Lord of the Ring and you had what added up to be a show-stealing effort from four of the best Junior Heavyweight Tag Teams in the world.

~Silence Shouts Loudest~

Match #7: Mask vs Title Shot:

Mister Macho vs Some Dude In A Mask

http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q236/Tigerkinney/th_EijiHamacho_jhdMacho1.jpg?t=1294616716 vs http://i754.photobucket.com/albums/xx181/jhdTEW/Alts/Renders/SDITM_jhd.jpg

Basic premise here is that if Mister Macho wins, then the mysterious Some Dude In A Mask has to reveal his true identity, if however 'Some Dude' wins then Macho will have to relinquish the World Championship shot he won in the 'Battle of Sapporo' match to the enigmatic masked man.

It is Macho who goes on the front foot early, as he imposes himself upon SDIAM with his energetic brawling. That see's the masked man go out for a powder, Macho wanting to keep the early pressure on gives chase, but is sent into the ring-steps with a drop toe hold, before SDIAM follows up with a vicious flurry of kicks.

The masked man then pitches Macho back into the ring and goes for a quick roll-up, the Macho-Universe leader bravely kicks out but SDIAM continues to work over the leg of Macho before placing the former RAGE man in a Tendon Hold.....

Macho digs down and makes it to the ropes, but is soon taken back down to his feet again by another basement drop-kick from the methodical 'Some Dude'.....

SDIAM then looked to be lining up for the dreaded AT STRIKE, but Macho managed to rise back to his feet to block the attempt and then stun the enigmatic masked man with a MACHO LARIAT before collapsing back to his knees.

Both managed to stagger back up to their feet to beat referee Shinozaki's ten count, but it was Macho who would continue to turn the momentum back his way, with a release overhead belly to belly suplex. SDIAM picked himself back up, but was then levelled with another MACHO LARIAT!!

One....

Two.....

Thr........

The enigmatic 'masked man' kicked out but Macho was still in control and he looked to be settting up for the OLD SKOOL PILEDRIVER but SDIAM managed to block the attempt and then somehow managed to start applying a Sleeper Hold, but the Macho Man stayed strong and managed to shake the enigmatic masked man off, before connecting with another clothesline and then a Uranage slam for a two count.

Macho continued to be in control and tried for the OLD SKOOL PILEDRIVER again, this time he was able to drill SDIAM into the canvas......

One.....

Two......

Thr......

To the disbelief of Macho, SDIAM kicked out but the masked man remained rooted to the canvas, so the Macho-Man decided to head for the top-turnbuckle......

But before Macho could deliver the MACHO ELBOW DROP, the enigmatic masked man was suddenly back to his feet, before climbing the top-rope....SDIAM tried to bring Macho back in with a superplex, only to be shoved back down to the canvas.....Macho then came flying off with the MACHO ELBOW DROP......

But SDIAM rolled out of the way at the last split second, and as Macho staggered back up to a vertical base, he was immediately scythed down with a chop-block before SDIAM went back to the TENDON HOLD........

Macho managed to battle his way out of the submission again, and placed SDIAM upon his shoulders to then plant the enigmatic masked man with the HAMACHO SLEDGE (Death Valley Driver)......

One.......

Two.....

Thr......

SDIAM kicked out......

Macho then appeared to be setting up for the BULL RUSH (High Impact Spear) but all of a sudden he collapsed to his knees, the effects of SDIAM's leg work suddenly coming to fruition, the ruthless masked man then saw his opportunity......

AT STRIKE !!!!

Macho was nailed right in the face by the devastating Front Knee Strike....

One......

Two......

Three !!!!

The pinfall in all honesty was academic, as Macho looked to be genuinely knocked out by the AT Strike. So concerned was a young lady (early twenties, with the looks and demeanour of a J-Pop Idol) in the crowd, who appeared to be so concerned for Macho's well being that appeared to be in hysterical tears about Macho's condition.

http://i754.photobucket.com/albums/xx181/jhdTEW/Alts/Renders/TKValet_jhd2.jpg

Macho soon remained conciousness however, as he was put onto the stretcher, as he was carried up the entrance ramp...the attractive young lady was curiously allowed to join him...having somehow got past security. Macho certainly seemed to know who she was though, as he said to the tearful female 'Oh my Erisabet-chan thanks for coming, but sorry....'

SDIAM showed no emotion in celebrating his victory, but no one was going to take that as him showing remorse for temporarily knocking out his opponent, this was just the demeanour he had every minute of the day since his arrival in BHOTWG.

Result: Some Dude In A Mask [w] bt Mister Macho [L] in 14:23 via pinfall

Rating: B

Onodera's Viewpoint: After the show-stealing effort from the Junior Tag Division in the preceding match, anything that followed it was always going to have a difficult time following it but SDIAM and Macho did a solid job with a decent 'clash of styles' effort with the masked man's more cerebral attack overcoming the power game of Macho. Talking of Macho- the fact that he is beginning to resort back to his old Raging Bull move-set will begin to become significant over time, and plus the introduction of 'Erisabet-Chan' is another evolution in his character. The loss to SDIAM also does not mean that his own singles push is over, it's just that when Some Dude's run is brought to an end, it will be brought to an end by someone even more significant than Macho.

Post Match Comments:

The press don't get much out of Some Dude In A Mask, who just send one word in his now trademark deadpan monotone 'Winner'.

Mister Macho meanwhile was taken to the nearest hospital, probably for just a precautionary check up and presumably with 'Erisabet-Chan' riding in the ambulance with him.

Match #8: Snow Lizzard (Sanetomo Shiraishi & Sessue Kawate) vs Hidden Spark (Stone Yoshikawa & The Incredible Koyama) vs Blended Whisky (Mitsunari Fuganaga & Merle O'Curle)

This three way tag mostly played out as Hidden Spark's high flying Junior Heavyweight style pitting itself agains the more grounded submission game of Blended Whisky, with both sides mostly focused on one another whilst the more experience Snow Lizzard tried to pick their spots....breaking up pin attempst and generally trying to steal victory with roll-ups.... In fact it looked as though Snow Lizzard, despite being the 'third wheel' for much of the match would be the most likely to take the win after nailing the SL SNAPPER (Russian Legsweep/Neckbreaker combo) on Stone Yoshikawa, but Koyama was able to make the save.

Koyama then drop-kicked Shiraishi out of the ring and then nailed Kawate with a gamengiri....that lead to the 'Deadly Air' heading up top to then come crashing down upon Kawate with the AIR KOYAMA (Shooting Star Press) only to feel the full force of a Running Knee Drive from Fuganaga....O'Curle then slapped on the Celtic Wreath (Seated Chickenwing Crossface) on the already winded Kawate, forcing a quick tap out from the Snowman and securing the PPV victory for the RAGE duo.

Result: Mitsunari Fuganaga & Merle O'Curle [w] bt Stone Yoshikawa & The Incredible Koyama + Sanetomo Shiraishi & Sessue Kawate [L] in 10:25 via submission (Celtic Wreath)

Rating: C+

Onodera's Assessment: This was admittedly the bathroom break/food/merchandise stall visit match (well possibly second visit for some-given how long the show is), but even with that in mind this did feel a little disjointed as three way and would have worked better with the third team taken out but with a 4 hour show like Night of the Burning Hammer, you want to give as many people on the roster an opportunity to make it onto the main show as possible.

Post Match Comments:

Mitsunari Fuganaga: Blended Whisky are not here to play second fiddle in RAGE, does that mean a conflict of interests with Explosive Tension...perhaps, but I'm sure they will welcome a bit of inter faction rivarly..it will only drive us to become better.

Sanetomo Shiraishi: It pains me to admit this, but Kawate-san and I are being left behind by a stronger, faster generation...we will keep trying but it's time to admit that our best days may be.....

Sessue Kawate:.....SO you're just going to accept this failure are you, are you?

Sanetomo Shiraishi: Remember Kawate-san, I was not the one who failed.

Match #9: Tables Match:

BURNING Cobra vs Yasuhiko Taira

http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q236/Tigerkinney/th_DuaneStone_alt1.jpg vs http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q236/Tigerkinney/th_YasuhikoTaira-1.jpg

Yasuhiko Taira would be feeling confident heading into this match, against former ally turned bitter enemy BURINING Cobra, as he chose the Table's stipulation for the match.

The match begins for the bell has even rung with Cobra taking Taira by surprise with a missle-drop-kick that sends 'the Bulldozer' crashing against the guard-rail but the hard landing on the floor also takes alot out of the 'reformed hero'.....Both stagger up to their feet, and the 'high risk' surprise attack appears to have effectively back fired on Cobra, as Taira levels the former BHB man with a running boot.

More punishment from Taira follows, including a faceplant onto the ring-steps that appears to bust the masked man open, when a trickle of blood begins to seep through Cobra's mask.

Feeling that Cobra is weakened enough Taira then goes to work on setting up a table in the ring. But he gets too c0cky as he plays to the crowd, with his slow deliberate setting up of the table, that of course gives Cobra the chance to pick himself up and in the end he manages to take Taira by surprise with a baseball slide, that unbalances 'the Bulldozer'. The 'reformed hero' then follows up with a basement drop-kick to take his considerably larger opponent off his vertical base.

Cobra then stomped away on Taira for a bit, before turning the BHB man over to set up for the STONE HOLD (Sharpshooter), Toru Minamoto on the commentary table then plays 'Captain Obvious' to perhaps everyone watching at home, when he comments that Cobra won't be able to beat Taira like that.

Taira manages to power Cobra away, and then staggers back up to his feet only to be taken down with another basement drop-kick....and once again despite being unable to win the match with a submission Cobra goes back to the STONE HOLD.

Cobra of course realises that the can't win the match that way, and releases the hold....but he's unable to lift up the deadweight of the much larger Taira onto the table still set up inside the ring, so he has to wait for Taira to stagger up to his feet...

Cobra takes Taira down with a drop-toe hold ...that sends Taira heading for the table....the 'Bulldozers' forehead hits the edge of the table, but it remain in-tact much to Cobra's frustation.....

But the BHB man has been now also been busted open, and Cobra manages to muster up the strength to place his groggy onto the table. The 'reformed hero' then heads for the top turnbuckle and comes soaring off with the FROM CANADA WITH LOVE (Swandive Headbutt).....

Taira moves out of the way at the last split second..and Cobra goes crashing through the table......

Taira thinks he has won, but referee Umeki quickly tells Taira that the match isn't over, rightly pointing out that the match only ends when an someone is sent through a table by their opponent.

A bloodied and enraged Taira then set about setting up another table, as Cobra lay motionless in the ring....

However once again Taira takes his time setting up the table..this time however it's through wear and tear rather than arrogance, but 'the Bulldozer' turns his attention back to Cobra in time to level the 'reformed hero' with a clothesline...and then follow up with the TYPHOON SUPLEX (Rotating Vertical Suplex).......

With Cobra planted back on the canvas, the 'Bulldozer' decides to move the table, so that it is now propped up agains the corner....before tossing Cobra into the same corner with the SAMSON SLAM (Pumphandle Fall Away Slam) but somehow Cobra manages to stop just short of going through the table.....

Much to Taira's immediate frustration....

But Cobra isn't out of danger, as the 'Bulldozer' came steaming in with The FLATTENER.....

However Cobra manages to move out of the way in time (perhaps saved by Taira not being able to charge at full speed), and Taira ends up clotheslining the table instead, with the wooden object falling on top of him....Cobra see's the opportunity to head for the top-rope, but Taira manages to power the fallen table off himself and cut Cobra off.....

Taira then delivered a series of heavy lefts and rights to Cobra before setting the table back up.....

The 'Bulldozer' then began to set up for the WRECKING BALL (Muscle Buster) but Cobra manages to fight his way out and slips off the back of Taira before nailing Taira with a drop-kick but the BHB man shakes it off and levels the 'reformed hero' with a clothesline....

Taira apperared to be setting up for another WRECKING BALL attempt, but all of sudden his legs give way, and starts stumbling towards the table....Cobra then counters into a Tornado DDT !!!

Taira goes CRASHING THROUGH THE TABLE !!!!

Despite the odds being seemingly stacked agains thim BURNING Cobra had managed to outmanouvre his former ally turned enemy Taira. With Masuno losing to Horri, the Black Heart Flying Squadron losing the Junior Tag Team Titles and now Taira being sent through a table by Cobra, the 2010 edition of Night Of The Burning Hammer has certainly been a night that the Black Heart Brethren will want to forget.

Result: BURNING Cobra [w] bt Yasuhiko Taira in 13:18 (Table Break via Tornado DDT)

Rating: B+

Onodera's Assessment: A really good Tables match, it was paced just right with not too much downtime with setting up the tables and Cobra-san's victory came about him being 'creative' and weakening Taira-san's with a Stone Hold, coupled with Taira-san's 'own worst enemy' arrogance, that is what effectively enabled Cobra to outmanouere Taira-san and emerge with the victory.

Post Match Comments:

BURNING Cobra: Taira-san you thought, you held all the aces didn't you...well you may be bigger than me, you may be physically stronger than me, but you sure as hell aren't a smart as me or as brave as me.....this is the just the beginning Taira-san, the beginning of the end for the Brethren.

Yasuhiko Taira: Cobra-san, this time you got lucky...but your luck will run out, and when it does run out, you will suffer severe consquences for your betrayal of the Brethren.

Match #10: World Tag Team Championship:

The Rebellion (Shimedzu & Miyamae) vs

Rapid Danger (Tasuku Iesada & John Pathlow)

http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q236/Tigerkinney/th_TasukuIesada.jpg & http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q236/Tigerkinney/th_HellMonkey_alt2.jpg

The semi main event now, and it's the World Tag Team Championships that will be on the line, as The Rebellion defend against the inaugral UTL Cup winners Rapid Danger. The Rebellion have already had to make a demanding defence of their belts just a few nights before against Wild Fire and Explosive Tension in a three way but the partially former? INSPIRE duo have shown signs of not being on the same page that brought them the UTL cup victory recently, with Pathlow seemingly more keen to reconcile with Kikkawa.

The match starts of slow and cagey with both teams seemingly cautious about not making a mistake that could cause the opposing team to gain an early advantage, and when it does look like one team would be able to cut off the ring, their opponent would always be able to work their way out of trouble. This continued for the next ten minutes, until Pathlow started to show frustration at the lack of headway and switched up to a barrage of strikes and kicks when in the ring against Miyamae.

But 'the Viper' stood up to the barrage and after ducking a roundhouse kick, lured Pathlow into Reverse STO for a two count.....Pathlow then suddenly found himself being placed in the SNAKE CHARMER (Over the Shoulder single leg Boston Crab) but he was able to dig in and battle his way to the ropes.

Miyamae tagged Shimedzu in, who lined up for the LIFE FLASHER, but Iesada has sneakily made his way around, and trigged Shimedzu up from the apron. Miyamae saw this and engaged Iesada with some ringside brawling, only for a recovered Pathlow to drop-kick Shimedzu out of the ring, and then follow up with a suicide dive that sent everyone (Iesada included) crashing against the barricade).

It looked as though Iesada did not care much for Pathlow's 'Kamikaze' tactic and the Rapid Fire began to argue, but then suddenly got back on the same page when they saw both members of The Rebellion staggering back up to their feet, before planting the defending champions with stereo suplexes out on the floor. The challengers rolled back into the ring but soon realised that they couldn't win the titles by count-out.....

Iesada pitched Shimedzu back into the ring, and Pathlow connected with a roundhouse kick for a two count. Rapid Danger then retained control, whipping Shimedzu into their corner and then taking turns to dish out methodical punishment to 'Kamikaze Spirit' before Iesada flipped the weary Shimedzu over into the IESADA BRIDGE (Bridging Northern Lights Suplex).....

One.....

Two.....

Thr.....

Miyamae managed to dive back in to make the save, but was soon sent back to the floor with a drop-kick from Pathlow. Pathlow then went out onto the apron, as Rapid Danger looked to set up for the DANGEROUS LIASON, but Miyamae managed to pull Pathlow off the apron and then Shimedzu took advantage of a hesistation from Iesada to counter into the A-KO ARROW (Slingshot Falcon Arrow).....

One......

Two......

Iesada was able to kick out of a weak cover from Shimedzu, but in all honesty 'Kamikaze Spirit' knew that a winning pin would be a bonus as this stage, he was just looking for a momentum changer and with Miyamae having just whipped Pathlow into the ring-steps outside of the ring....things were looking up for The Rebellion and despite a last ditch effort from Iesada to prevent Shimedzu from tagging out, 'Kamikaze Spirit' did manage to get a refreshed Miyamae back into the match.

Miyamae was then able to nail Iesada with the GLITTERING MAGICIAN (Shining Wizard)......

One.....

Two....

Thr......

Iesada kicked out but still found himself in trouble and was taken down with a leg lariat/leg-sweep combo but much to the Rebellion's frustration, Iesada was again able to kick out.

Miyamae then headed up top, but then found himself nailed with an apron Enziguri from Pathlow....Shimedzu was then able to cut Pathlow off from suplexing Miyamae back into the ring, only for Iesad to return to his feet and send everyone crashing back into the ring 'Tower of Doom style' after a powerbomb.

Rapid Danger were then able to seize back the momentum after referee Terakado's double count with stereo drop toe holds, before locking in stereo submissions with Shimedzu placed in the IESADA SPECIAL (Cross Arm Breaker) and Pathlow slapping the KIMURA LOCK onto Miyamae.......

With his arm being ripped out of it's socket, Shimedzu tapped out but referee Terakado waved it off, saying that neither was the legal man and that the only submission that mattered was the Kimura Pathlow had on Miyamae, and much to Rapid Danger's frustration, 'the Viper' was able to dig into his reserves of fighting spirit and battle his way to the ropes.....

Despite Rapid Danger's frustrations however, they remained in control with Shimedzu still trying to shake some feeling back into his arm at ringside.

Pathlow then tried to set up for the KILL DRILL (Double Underhook Piledriver) on Miyamae, but the Viper was able to block the attempt and then counter into a butterfly suplex.....

One....

Two......

Pathlow kicked out and then stunned Miyamae with a gamengiri, before getting Iesada officially tagged back into the match. Iesada then reeled off a string of snap suplexes before finally settling on planting Miyamae with the IESADA BRIDGE.....

One.......

Two.......

Thr........

Miyamae kicked out but soon found himself being locked into the IESADA SPECIAL.....

But before Iesada could truly lock his socket wrenching submission hold on, Shimedzu was able to make a last ditch save....only for 'Kamikaze Spirit' to be taken out with a drop toe hold/basement drop-kick combo from Rapid Danger......

Miyamae was able to use the distraction however to land a pair of drop-kicks on the INSPIRE? pair. Miyamae was then able to plant Iesada with the MIYAMAE SPOILER (Swinging Reverse STO).......

One.....

Two.....

Thr.......

Pathlow was able to break up the pin with a double stomp, and then level Miyamae with the APOCALYPSE LARIAT (Swinging Pendulum Rebound Lariat), but he was not the legal man and he had to wait for Iesada to regain enough senses to officially tag him back into the match....

With Iesada tagging Pathlow back in, they appeared to be setting up for the DANGEROUS LIASON II (Springboard Drop-Kick/Suplex combo), but Miyamae was able to duck the drop-kick and Pathlow 'unintentionally nailed' Iesada instead.

Miyamae was able to then nail Pathlow with a knee strike and then follow up with a release DRAGON SUPLEX.....

Before getting the tag back into Shimedzu. Shimedzu then nailed Pathlow with the LIFE FLASHER (Rebound Running Boot)......

One......

Two.....

Thr.......

Pathlow kicked out, but Shimedzu was keeping the pressure on and he was able to drill Pathlow with the REVOLUTION DROP (Twisting Inverted Brainbuster).......

One....

Two....

Thr.....

Pathlow was again able to show great fighting spirit by kicking out, but 'Kamikaze Spirit' remained focused an placed 'Rapid Fire' into the INSURREXION DEVICE (Guillotin Choke) but Shimedzu was unable to maintain the hold, with the initial adrenalin wearing off, as the tried to fight through the painful effects of the Iesada Special.....

Shimedzu frustrated at being unable to force a tap out from Pathlow, tagged Miyamae back in. Miyamae however decided to head up top, as Shimedzu then dragged a still groggy Pathlow back up to a vertical base, they appeared to be setting up for a SPIKED SKULL-DROP, but Pathlow was able to counter into a Brainbuster....only for Miyamae to nail Pathlow with a missile drop-kick....

But the momentum took Pathlow all the way over to the Rapid Danger corner, Iesada quickly tagged in, avoided a spin kick from Miyamae, and then rolled 'the Viper up'......

Iesada and Miyamae then exchanged pins until all of a sudden Miyamae found himself trapped in the IESADA LOCKDOWN (Cross Legged Bridging Pin).......

One.....

Two......

Shimedzu was staggering up from the corner to make the save, but was then nailed with the BLUNT FORCE TRAUMA (Running Leaping Side Kick) from Pathlow....

Three !!!

Miyamae was unable to fight his way out of the Iesada Lockdown....and with that we have new first time World Tag Team Champions in the form of Rapid Danger.

Result: Tasuku Iesada [w] & John Pathlow bt Shimedzu & Miyamae [L] in 25:50 via pinfall (Iesada Lockdown)

Rapid Danger win the Burning World Tag Team Championship

Rating: B+

Onodera's Assessment: A very good semi main event between two highly skilled teams. You get the feeling they were holding back slightly as not to try to over-shadow/burn out the crowd before the main event itself, and you also get the feeling that this isn't going to be the last time we will be seeing these two teams match-up and that The Rebellion will demand an instant rematch with the new champions.

Post Match Comments:

Tasuku Iesada: World Tag Team Champion, it feels good to be that......

John Pathlow: I just hope that we can stay on the same page, to keep hold of these belts....

Tasuku Iesada: Well we proved tonight we can still function as a team...

John Pathlow: Perhaps, our win tonight was lucky....

Tasuku Iesada: There's no such things as lucky, we won these belts because we are the best....

John Pathlow: I need convincing, so I would welcome a re-match from The Rebellion, I hope they are up for the challenge.

Shimedzu: Rapid Danger, we will not shy away from the fact that you're a great team, but you got lucky tonight, we still believe we are the better team.....

Miyamae: We weren't fooled by the so called communication problems, we were ready for a tough match from Rapid Danger, but their luck just held firmer than ours on this occasion. We will get those belts back and then we can become four time champions.

Match #11: Unification Match for the Burning World and King of Fighters Championships:

Hiroaki Nakasawa vs Tadiyuki Kikkawa

http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q236/Tigerkinney/th_BHOTWGWorld1.jpghttp://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q236/Tigerkinney/th_INSPIRE.jpg

http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q236/Tigerkinney/th_HiroakiNakasawaALT21.jpg vs http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q236/Tigerkinney/th_TadiyukiKikkawa.jpg

One of the biggest match-up's in Puroresu history, on the biggest night on the Puro calendar...champion vs champion, two seemingly unstoppable forces in a collision course with one another, and only one can emerge the victor. But just who?- the current Burning World Champion and the leader of BHOTWG's new generation or the King of Fighters Champion, the returning but tainted legend, the standard bearer for the previous generation.

As to be expected for a match of this magnitude the introductions had an extra buzz about them amongst the pomp and ceremony and though what went on previously throughout the show kept the fans entertained, this was the strawberry on top of the cake, this was the pinnacle of the night...this is what they had all been waiting for.

After the pomp and ceremony of the introductions, the bell-rings and we get an intense staredown between the two champions, they just circle each other for the next minute....keeping their eyes intensely locked on their opponent as if they're the only two people in the Kanagawa Stadium....both shorten the distance between themselves, until they come nose to nose....neither man looks as though they want to back down from the other, even though not one strike in anger has been thrown yet.....neither man wants to show any sign of weakness to the other, and that seems to extend even to a staring contest.....

And then both at the same time, unleash on the other....finally fed up of a staredown that lasted nearly three minutes..and when they do unleash it's a furious barrage of strikes, that neither one seems to be backing down from. Blow for blow they go, chops, fore-arms, elbows.....just when it looks like one would be gathering some momentum, the other would soak up the pressure and then unleash just as heavy a barrage back.

Of course at some point though the stale-mate had to be broken, and it was Kikkawa who was able to gain the advantage with a desperation eye-rake before planting Nakasawa with a Uranage Slam, but the World Champion got right back up only for Kikkawa to block a Lariat and then toss Nakasawa overhead with a release belly to belly suplex.....

Nakasawa staggered up to his feet, only to be met with a charging fore-arm into the corner by the 'King of Fighters'...Kikkawa then decided to pitch the dazed Nakasawa onto the top turnbuckl and set up for a superplex but Nakasawa regained his senses and fought the attempt off, before nailing Kikkawa with a flying fore-arm. That saw Kikkawa roll out of the ring and go for a powder....Nakasawa kept his cool, and decided not to give chase, instead using the time to gain a breather himself...even if that did mean not being able to truly seize the momentum at this stage.

Kikkawa rolled back into the ring, and Nakasawa charged forward, only to be taken down with a drop toe hold from the INSPIRE leader. Kikkawa then took Nakasawa by surprise, by looking to look in an STF submission, something that the World Champion would not have scouted for.....but Nakasawa had enough fight left in him to reach the ropes and force a rope-break.

Kikkawa kept the pressure on after the rope-break however, peppering Nakasawa with a series of fore-arms before planting the H-Bomb with a Vertical Suplex for a two count. Kikkawa then scooped Nakasawa upon his shoulders, but the Burning World Champion fought his way off with a series of side-elbows, before suddenly planting Kikkawa with an STO.....

The King of Fighters rose back to his feet but was immediately levelled with a Lariat from the H-Bomb. That got Nakasawa a two count, before the World Champion followed up with a snap suplex...this time Nakasawa did not go for the cover, deciding to tie Kikkawa up into the FIGURE FOUR LEGLOCK instead......

Kikkawa however was able to muster up the strength to turn over and apply the pressure to Nakasawa, Nakasawa dug down though to turn the pressure back the other way but Kikkawa was able to grab the bottom rope and force the rope-break.

Both staggered back up to their feet, and it was Nakasawa who seized the intial advantage with a boot into Kikkawa's mid-section, but the 'King of Fighters' was able to squirm out of a head and arm lock and bail out to the floor.

This time Nakasawa decided to go in pursuit, only for Kikkawa to outmanouevre Nakasawa, by rolling back into the ring and then baseball sliding the World Champion into the guard-rail. The INSPIRE leader then went to whip Nakasawa into the ring-steps only for the momentum to be reversed......Nakasawa then came charging in with a lariat, only for Kikkawa to move out of the way and for Nakasawa to collide with the ring-post. Kikkawa then dragged Nakasawa up to the ring-apron and began to set up for a KIKKAWA DRIVER, but Nakasawa was able to slip off and then countered with a NAKASAWA NECKBREAKER (Inverted Swinging Neckbreaker) off the apron to the floor!

Nakasawa then pitched the dazed Kikkawa back into the ring and went for the cover.....

Kikkawa kicked out, but Nakasawa remained in control and began to set up for the COMPRESSION POWERBOMB (Scoop Lift Powerbomb) only for Kikkawa to stand firm and then counter with a back-body drop......Nakasawa rose to his feet immediately only to be levelled with a KIKKAWA LARIAT !

One....

Two......

Thr.......

Kikkawa dragged Nakasawa back up to his feet, and then peppered the Sekigun leader with a flurry of fore-arms before setting up for the BURNING LARIAT, but Nakasawa suddenly sparked into life and returned fire with a flurry of fore-arms of his own before planting Kikkawa with a vertical suplex and then collapsing to the mat, as if the burst of energy was enough to halt Kikkawa's momentum but not quite enough to fully turn the match back in Nakasawa's favour.

Both then staggered back up to their feet and once again traded blows, with both now showing the effects of the constant barrage of ultra stiff shots, with Nakasawa's chest red raw and Kikkawa now sporting a small cut on the forehead. Kikkawa however would make a breakthrough, backing Nakasawa up with a flurry of machine gun like chops and then levelling the World Champion with another KIKKAWA LARIAT.....

One......

Two....

Thr.....

Nakasawa kicked out again, but this time Kikkawa kept things on the mat, by applying the KIKKAWA DEATH CHOKE (Straight Jacket Hold).....

Nakasawa appeared to be fading, as Kikkawa applied the pressure.....

Referee Umeki checked on the World Champion.....

Nakasawa's arm went down......

Umeki raised the arm again....

But still no response from Nakasawa......

Umeki gave Nakasawa one last opportunity to convince him that he could carry on....

This time Nakasawa did respond, suddenly coming back to life and digging down to drag himself and the equally relentless Kikkawa across to the ropes to force a rope break.....

An exhausted Nakasawa then rolled out of the ring, to try and re-group.....Kikkawa frustrated that the Kikkawa Death Choke had not forced Nakasawa to submit...was keen to keep the pressure on, but was blindsided with a clothesline from behind by the H-Bomb and then shoved into the ring-post, causing the slight cut he had on his fore-head to open up more.

Nakasawa then started to show the mean streak he had begun to develop by gouging his thumb into Kikkawa's opening wound, to the shock and disdain to some of the crowd. Nakasawa then dragged the 'King of Fighters' up to the apron and tried to set up for the COMPRESSION POWERBOMB but Kikkawa stood firm, and then suddenly sprung back to life, firing back with a flurry of chops and then scooping Nakasawa upon this shoulders, Nakasawa however managed to fight his way off and then double Kikkawa up with a knee strike to the gut, before hanging Kikkawa in the middle rope.....

Nakasawa then headed for the top turbuckle...and then came off with a guillotine leg-drop.....

only for Kikkawa to move out of the way just in time.....

The 'H-Bomb' then staggered back up to his feet , to then be met with to everyone's jaw dropping surprise, a slingshot shoulder block from the INSPIRE leader.

Despite the fact the was now sporting a crimson mask, Kikkawa seemed to be seizing back the momentum , and followed up the shoulder block with another KIKKAWA LARIAT....

But the King of Fighters did not decide to go for the cover, instead he scooped Nakasawa upon his shoulders and then climbed up the turnbuckle....to deliver an avalanche KIKKAWA DRIVER (Wrist Clutch Death Valley Driver)......

One......

Two.......

Thre.......

Nakasawa managed to get his shoulder up barely in time, but it was enough not to see Kikkawa become the unified champion, much to the dismay of the King of Fighters.

Kikkawa dragged the dazed Nakasawa back up to a vertical base and began to set up for a vertical suplex (or more likely the Incendiary Tower) but Nakasawa's deadweight was proving to be difficult to lift .....

Frustrated by Nakasawa's resistance....Kikkawa simply shoved Nakasawa back down to the mat and then went for another cover.....

One.....

Two.....

Nakasawa suddenly reversed into a small package......

One....

Two....

Kikkawa managed to kick out, but was then stunned with a knee to the face.....Nakasawa then dragged the stunned Kikkawa to his feet and then planted the King of Fighters with a NAKASAWA NECKBREAKER.....

Nakasawa wasn't done however, as he suddenly found the energy to lift Kikkawa up for the COMPRESSION POWERBOMB (Scoop Lift Powerbomb) before wearily collapsing upon Kikkawa to make the cover......

One.....

Thr.....

Kikkawa bravely kicked out, but with blood loss starting to take effect he did not have the energy to rise back to his feet.....

Nakasawa unconvinced that another pin attempt would suffice, then headed for the top turnbuckle.....

H-SAULT (Moonsault) !!

But Nakasawa had took too long to climb the turnbuckles and Kikkawa had managed to move out of the way just in time......

Then as both wearily got back to their feet, Kikkawa blocked a fore-arm from Nakasawa and then nailed the World Champion with the BURNING LARIAT !! (Explosive Short Range Lariat).......

Kikkawa kicks out, but Nakasawa suddenly sees the tide has turned in his favour due to Rapid Danger's shocking inteference.......

Nakasawa then locks eyes with Rapid Danger on the entrance ramp, and then smiles back at them (giving indication that he knew about their plan all along), before planting the King of Fighters with a NAKASAWA NECKBREAKER........

Nakasawa then taunted Kikkawa to get back to his feet.......

Kikkawa being the proud man that he is bravely did, but what appears to be the only man left in INSPIRE was then nailed with the SUDDEN IMPACT LARIAT (Turnaround Short Range Lariat).....

Nakasawa's victory is met with a chorus of boos, the fans feeling cheated by the manor of his victory, and no longer seeing Nakasawa as heroic standard bearer for the new generation. And though they're not onside with actually supporting Kikkawa, they seem to have refound their respect for him, knowing full well that he should be the Unified Champion not Kikkawa had Rapid Danger, not interfered.

Result: Hiroaki Nakasawa [w] bt Tadiyuki Kikkawa [L] in 31:47 via pinfall (Sudden Impact Lariat)

Hiroaki Nakasawa Unifies the Burning World and King of Fighters Championship/Makes V18 Defence of Burning World Championship

Rating: A

Onodera's Assessment: All in all a pretty brutal hard hitting contest, that lived up to expectations. The shenanighans at the end, may have stopped this from becoming an absolute classic in a pure in-ring sense and would have probably irritated 'purists'. But what it does do is shake things up in Burning Hammer moving forward and I don't think maybe people were clued into the fact that Nakasawa turning bad and the disintegration of INSPIRE angles were going to converge at this very point.

http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q236/Tigerkinney/th_TasukuIesada.jpg http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q236/Tigerkinney/th_HiroakiNakasawaALT21.jpg http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q236/Tigerkinney/th_HellMonkey_alt2.jpg

Post match Hiraoki Nakasawa, arrogantly grabs both the Burning World Championship and King of Fighters Championship, before arrogantly posing alongside the new World Tag Team Champions Rapid Danger- securing the image that these three have formed a new and what looks to be highly powerful alliance.

Rating: A

Post Match Comments:

Hiroaki Nakasawa: To stay on top, you must surround yourself with the best and I believe Rapid Danger, present the very best here in Burning Hammer. And you know what those fans that once cheered for me, can jeer me all they want...because they don't matter, what matters is being champion, is being the very best. I do not wish to be their false idol, this sport isn't about doing what they want, it's about what I want, and all I want is be the best.

Tadiyuku Kikkawa: Nakasawa-san you did not beat me.....I beat myself. The only person who could ever beat me, is myself.

Overall: A

Onodera's Viewpoint: Maybe a tad too much filler (the Lizzard-Spark-Whisky 3 way tag comes to mind most) for this to be absolutely great from top to bottom, but trying to fill a four hour show is a difficult task, but all in all I'm pretty satisfied with how this turned out.

Both parts of Night of the Burning Hammer are now up for your viewing pleasure :)

Hey TK, just wanted to stop in to say your match write-ups continue to impress with levels of detail most (including myself) couldn't dream of achieving. Only recently noticed your request for a render. Sorry I didn't see it until it was too late but just so you know, if you ever need a request like that in the future, you can always PM me.

...awesome...

Fantastic work, TK. Great show and great twist at the end. Should've seen that possibility but I really wasn't looking for it much.

I really hope you keep this going, as I really want to see where you go from here. But certainly understand whatever you decide to do.

@ London: Thanks :) You do great work too as a diary writer (I need to get re-caught up with your TCW diary. Anyway as for the render JHD-1, who I did originally PM (but was away when I made the request) took care of it.

@ Phantom Stranger: They certainly did, the real 'feel good' moment of a show where the heels mostly came out on top- guess I didn't follow the convention where the good guys triumph at the really big showdown.

@BigPapa42: Along the way some things have changed from the original plan I had way back at the start of the diary, but the Unification Match and the twist at the end is something I always had in mind to happen at Night of the Burning Hammer. The fact that you had a 'should have saw that coming' reaction after the event- is just the sort of response I was looking for...surprising, yet in the context of how things had been building, also logical.

And this diary certainly isn't ending at this point- still got plenty of stories to tell that need resolving, beyond the Title Unification. At the very least I see this continuing onto the end of the current tour, at the most (and I would like to think I would still have the motivation to do so) the next Fire Dream of the Immortals. Going beyond that though is not very likely.

Great show with lots of surprises!

I didn´t expect Rabid Danger to win the titles but I love the fact they did and their alliance with Nakasawa was another nice shocker as was Masuko´s turn.

I never thought I would enjoy readíng pure wrestling promotion with no angles but somehow you had managed to capture my interest. Keep up with the good work.:)

Just back from the Valley and a new BHOTWG card, yay!

Night of the Burning Hammer

(Friday 29th October 2010)

Kanagawa Stadium , Kanto( 30'000 Super No Vacancy)

And Live on PPV with Emperor Sports.

And to be released as a 2 DVD set evidently!

Commentators for the show:

Toru Minamoto, Mitsuhide Muro, Katsuhiko Shunsen

So if Nakasawa is going eeevvviiill, which commentator will be the one getting his shirt ripped every show. My vote is Shunsen.

'Baby Elephant' sent Yuasha crashing back into the ring with the THUNDER DROP (Gorilla Press Powerslam), whils the rest of the 'veterans' did enough to hold back the rest of the 'young lions' from making the save.

Predictable enough, but the preshow is not the place for big surprises. If Nisso keeps winning will his name change to Bull Elephant at some point?

baseball slide that sent Elemental III crashing into the barricade.

And this makes for a good opening. Junior title match, so it's bound to have great action to get the crowd going. And the two are well matched so it's hard to be sure who'll win. I know I picked EIII because Dragon had been champion for so long. But they both are credible.

The BOSJ Cup winner somehow managed to flip onto his feet but was unable to prevent Dragon pulling off his dizzying multi-rotation crucifix arm bar submission the DRAGON'S CROSS.....

I've always loved this type of move.

But all of a sudden Marihito Masuko sneaked into the ring, and then planted Elemental III with the MASUKO CRADLE SHOCK, to the stunned silence of 30,000 BHOTWG fans

But one voice breaks the silence. "BOO!" But I'm not a big fan of interference leading to the end of a match. It's just so SE and doesn't seem right for a title match. Though it does indeed complicate things quite a bit.

Elemental III: You know what Masuko-san, I'm not going to ask why, I know why, I know why you did what you did but one thing I will say is that you are a fool to make an enemy of me. Your New Heroes is over, I am the only true hero amongst us and in the end Masuko-san, I will prevail.

We need emotion there. He needs ALLS CAPS and many many !!!!111!!!one!!. We need to see the Elemental going molten! For some reason in my mind I heazrd this in a Ben Stein voice.

Sensational Dragon: What's really irritating me, is that you people aren't going to be talking about how Sensational I am, they're going to be talking about that jealous jerk-ass Masuko-san. One thing I didn't need was his 'help' to beat Elemental-san...I woud have won anyway.

Kikkawa and SD need to team up. Their egos are on the same levels. Right up to the semi-delusional stage. “jealous bakayaro Masuko-san!!” /fixed.

Toshusai immediately spun around flipped the double bird and then after a boot to the mid-section drilled Sanda with the SHOCK TREATMENT (Double Underhook Backbreaker) before turning his attention back to the legal man Okazaki....

Go Tosh! This is usually the point Makabe gets himself flattened.

Result: Chuichi Sanda & Masaaki Okazaki [w] bt Tadakuni Toshusai & Takayuki Onodera [L] in 14:18 via submission (Century Crab Lift)

I liked this match, it was a good follow up to the all out, high speed action of the title match. We don't want MIKO burned out before the end.;)

Tadakuni Toshusai: NOOOO!!! WIILDDD FIRRREEE!! can no break up, NOOOO!!! BREAAKKK UPPP!!! NO, NO!!! NOOOOO!!!

Tosh, go give interview lessons to Elemental III!

Wow, you put a lot more effort into this match than I expected, given we all knew who the winner was and it was just a low priority filler match. Well done!

Masuno had dominated much of the match, but when the BURNING LARIAT connects, it is just about impossible for anyone, even the very best to be able to muster up the strength to kick out before a three count.

So true. Burning lariatooooooo! Another good match, in the bigger man, stronger style. Big impacts, many lariats, and hard hitting action. I expectged Horri si win, based on the need for a new Sekigun Ace but Masuno put up a good fight.

they did a pretty good job of getting the crowd invested into a match with pretty much no build

I usually like these matches because they are pure competition, making a nice counterpoint to the storyline matches.

Result: Marihito Masuko [w] bt Kevin Christopher Glenn [L] in 12:56 via submission (Pink Dream).

Predictable, but Glenn keeps getting closer and closer to a win. I was a little curious what would happen here since Masuko had already interfered in the junior title match. I was hoping for some type of confrontation with E3/SD or event E3 giving Glenn advice or at least providing a distraction. Seems like thyey would at least want Masuko to know who upset they were with his actions.

Result: Some Dude In A Mask [w] bt Mister Macho [L] in 14:23 via pinfall

So much going on here. Again, some dude breaking down his opponant for the AT. Mister Macho putting all he has into the match, and as befits being on the PPV, it's a serious, hard fought match. I totally called appearance of Miss Erisabet. J-Pop idol indeed.

I'm guessing at this point that Some Dude won't be unmasked as part of a match. He has a title shot coming up and I also don't see him actually fighting for a title under 'some dude in a mask'. It would be like having an unknown masked team in the Superbowl. So I suspect that some dude will either unveil a name for his masked identity at some point. Or he'l unveil just before the title match as a way of unsettling his opponant with his identity. Which I'm still cluel;ess about, by the way. Who the hell is this guy??

Taira ends up clotheslining the table instead

I can see the comentary now. 'Great Buddha's Mercy, he just broke a solid wood table with a lariat. What would he have done to Cobra if it had hit?!'

Result: BURNING Cobra [w] bt Yasuhiko Taira in 13:18 (Table Break via Tornado DDT)

Not my favorite match from a booking viewpoint. The writing was just fine. Taira chose the type of match poorly, which gave his opponant a chance. But it was Taira's chosen match and against a junior and Taira still lost. So it feels like he's pretty much a midcarder at this point, if he can't do better than that. But I'm on drinking the New Japan flavored sake (koolaid? Ugh) when it comes to heavyweight vs. junior matches. For the two divisions to make sense it feels like there has to be a strict divide between them. We'll see if this is just an abberration though.

[MIKO takes a break now. Seriously, it feels like commentating freaking 5 hour dome show and my job is easy. Much respect for TigerK and how much work he put into this.]

It looked as though Iesada did not care much for Pathlow's 'Kamikaze' tactic and the Rapid Fire began to argue

The INSPIRE curse continues. Can they hold it together?

Miyamae was then able to nail Iesada with the GLITTERING MAGICIAN (Shining Wizard)......

I'm just waiting for the first person to call this a SPARKLING VAMPIRE!

Another great match, plenty of action and storyline. Iesada and Pathlow are amazingly talented and and put the fun into disfunction. Rebellion is still probably the better TEAM. Very much looking forward to the rematch.

Match #11: Unification Match for the Burning World and King of Fighters Championships:

Hiroaki Nakasawa vs Tadiyuki Kikkawa

At last! After 70 pages of reading, the match everyone has been waiting for!

And it's on! This is exactly the type of match I'm expecting.

Kikkawa then took Nakasawa by surprise, by looking to look in an STF submission, something that the World Champion would not have scouted for

You know this is a slow build, long duration match when they are whipping out the submissions they only use like once a year.

The 'H-Bomb' then staggered back up to his feet , to then be met with to everyone's jaw dropping surprise, a slingshot shoulder block from the INSPIRE leader.

Pulling out all the stops here.

John Pathlow then slides in and to the shock of everyone in the crowd nails Kikkawa with the BLUNT FORCE TRAUMA !!!

/windowcrackingscream! This is the 1 on 1 match we've been waiting on for a year, GTFO Rapid Danger!

Mitsuhide Muro on commentary pleads 'Please not like this'

Echoing every fan in attendence, as well as our readers at home.

Nakasawa's victory is met with a chorus of boos

I'm right there with them. No, seriously, in the picture of him holding up the titles, I'm the one in the corner back there. No, to the right. Dressed all in black.

the fans feeling cheated by the manor of his victory, and no longer seeing Nakasawa as heroic standard bearer for the new generation.

MIKO feels cheated as well. Imagine the match where Kawada finally pinned Misawa for the Triple Crown, then add in outsider interference that helps him. I'll never forgive you for this, never!

So, when's the next card out?;)

Overall good show. As always, Tiger puts an impressive amount of thought into each match, even the throw aways. It's fun to be able to pick out wrestling styles for individual wrestlers while reading the matches. Rapid Danger running in on Kikkawa after the match would have made me so much happier though. It would seem more villainous and it would not have messed with the climax of the slow building Kikkawa-Nakasawa storyline. The climax disappointed this puroresu purist.

<p>A few responses first to fan reaction...</p><p> </p><p>

@Zergon,Shmoe: Thanks as always for the praise, it's always appreciated. </p><p> </p><p>

@Infernalmiko: Great analysis, as always and I even enjoyed the criticism's over some of the booking decisions- answers to those criticism's will be in the up-coming Onodera's Viewpoint post, which will be the next post, in fact. Predictions contest post, will be up tomorrow.</p><p> </p><p>

As for my plan to end this at Fire-Dream...I feel that would be a good place to end it, because at the pace this diary goes at- the next TEW will be out by the time I get to the next Night of the Burning Hammer (but I suppose that goes with the territory of detailed match write-ups). </p><p> </p><p>

Also part of it is, as much as I enjoy writing these diaries...I need to focus on 'real life' , because well I'm happy in real life but not as happy as I could be. I'm going to be returning to Japan next April and I think realistically I can get this wrapped up just before or maybe just after that trip- and then as I said, I need to focus more on 'reality'- as boring as that may sound.</p>

<p></p><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i754.photobucket.com/albums/xx181/jhdTEW/Alts/TakayukiAvatar_jhd.jpg</span><p> </p><p>

<strong>The Onodera Diaries:</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

<span style="font-size:10px;">Whenever you go against the purists, it's always a bit of a risk and the inteference in both the Unification match between Hiroaki Nakasawa and Tadiyuki Kikkawa, and the Junior Championship match between Sensational Dragon and Elemental III, of course had the old school purists up in arms so to speak. Now I'm not going to dismiss them off hand, I can see their point and I went back and forth over these decisions many times but I felt in the end they were needed to spark the true heel turns for Nakasawa and Masuko. </span></p><p><span style="font-size:10px;"> </span></p><p><span style="font-size:10px;">

As much as the purists do not like it, the manner of Nakasawa's unification triumph and Masuko's inteference in costing Elemental III the Junior title- has garnered them massive heat...fans want to see these two get their comeuppance and that includes the purists.</span></p><p><span style="font-size:10px;"> </span></p><p><span style="font-size:10px;">

Now I'm not going to advocate Burning Hammer suddenly becoming awash with inteference but occassionally it is needed to push storylines along, trigger turns etc. Allowing our wrestlers to have a bit of 'character' so to speak, is what helps distinguish us from GCG and PGHW and it's been like that ever since the days of Hooded Kudo, who would regularly use the dreaded Mist attack against his opponents- so lets not pretend that nefarious tactics are a new thing in the Hammer. </span></p><p><span style="font-size:10px;"> </span></p><p><span style="font-size:10px;">

Kaneko-san was a happy with how Night of the Burning Hammer turned out, though I still have to fully convince Kikkawa-san I am the right from the job, I think it will always be that way, until I hit a proverbial 'grand-slam'...generally feeling is that my first 'Night' was the equivalent of hitting one out of the park, but like a one run homer- not a game winning grand-slam. Unsurprisingly 'Night' had our biggest buy-rate of the year, with a 1.34 rating the number quoted by Emperor Sports. We were also tempted to go with a bigger venue than Kanagawa, but the current downturn means that demand wasn't quite big enough to warrant the move up to the 50,000 seater Toyota Stadium- personally I always think it looks better to have a full or nearly full venue, than one that is not, even if you say sell a couple thousand more tickets. </span></p><p><span style="font-size:10px;"> </span></p><p><span style="font-size:10px;">

Another question coming out of the show, of course will be what will happen to the Unified Championship. Basically the plan is for the King of Fighters Championship to be retired, but for it's openweight stipulation to be taken on by the Burning World Championship. Now the Burning World Championship will still mainly be for heavyweights only but the very best Juniors can challenge for it, right now I only see three realistic challengers from the Junior ranks....BURNING Cobra, Sensational Dragon and John Pathlow. Cobra can prove he can take on heavyweights by using a cerebral, technical style, Dragon's the current Junior champ and a special talent, whilst Pathlow now one half of the World Tag Team Champions is on the Junior/Heavy borderline anyway. As for the other top Juniors, Kiyaru's time in terms of doing anything outside of the Junior ranks has past, Elemental III still needs to prove himslef, whilst Masuko will always be too small to be taken seriously against heavyweights.</span></p><p><span style="font-size:10px;"> </span></p><p><span style="font-size:10px;"> </span></p><p><span style="font-size:10px;">

In the King of Fighters Championships place we plan to introduce a midcard level heavyweight only championship. This isn't a title for Nakasawa, Horri, Kikkawa or even the Rebellion guys to be competing over. But it is something that the Black Magic guys could try and get themselves back on track with, or looking a bit lower down the ranks- perhaps something Nisso Yuasha or Mitsunari Fuganaga could aim for. </span></p><p><span style="font-size:10px;"> </span></p><p><span style="font-size:10px;">

On a completely different tangent, as I write this , it seems like some of the younger fans in attendance at Night of the Burning Hammer recognised who 'Erisabet-Chan' was, and for those under 25 I suppose Yuki Akiyama would be quite well known as apparently she is a well-known Seiyu (voice actor for Anime), as well as a J-Pop singer. Akiyama-chan apparently does alot of work for the Nagoya-Animation studio, who do alot of 'slice of life' comedy stuff...apparently it's very 'Moe'- look I don't have much clue about this stuff but apparently she was in a few highly succesful anime's for this Nagoya studio, one called 'Lycopene' and the other called 'The Sadness of Emiri Kimidori', apparently she sung the theme tune for the last one.....look I had to look up this information on the internet....honestly!</span></p><p><span style="font-size:10px;"> </span></p><p><span style="font-size:10px;">

One has to wonder how a seiyu of 'slice of life' anime's and a J-Pop singer, got to be involved with Burning Hammer but apparently someone's son is a big fan of Akiyama-chan and he managed to pull a few strings for his son to meet his 'idol', well it turns out Akiyama-chan is something of a wrestling fan...and well lets just leave it that. </span></p><p><span style="font-size:10px;">

Finally read the awesome show and saw that you will be bringing this to a close down the road. I am sorta sadden by that, however, we nerds and geeks know that eventually real life is out there and we have to go live outside of TEW. Basically just tossing my two cents in about you ending the diary and also giving you mad mad MAD kudos for the awesome show. KUTGW!

But I know that after my return trip to Japan in April*, real-life has to come first. Saying all that, I don't think the writing bug will ever truly go away, and if and when I could ever find the time, I may start another project-never say never but I know that other things must become a priority for my real-life to be truly fulfilled. </p><p> </p><p> * This year I went as part of a group tour, which was really good and served as a great introduction to the country- but as good as the tour was, and though they were flexible in terms of sticking with the guide or going off to do your own thing each day, I was still stuck to a schedule and couldnt always do what I wanted to do. </p><p> </p><p> Anyway the tour company I went with Inside Japan Tours <a href="http://www.insidejapantours.com" rel="external nofollow">www.insidejapantours.com</a> , also help arrange accomodation, travel, event tickets to cater for your own schedule, if you're going out on your own (they call it Fully Tailored Trips). I was going to hold it off a few years, but I thought why the hell not return straight away- whilst I'm not tied down with any commitments. </p><p> </p><p> If you're ever thinking of going to Japan, I wouldn't hesitate in recommending Inside Japan Tours- they have offices in the UK, Japan and the U.S and their service in both booking the group tour last year, and thus far in arranging my fully tailored trip has been first rate. Our Tour Guide was also excellent- in fact I would probably recommend doing a guided tour, if you are visiting Japan for the first time. </p><p> </p><p> Sorry for the 'advert' just now, but I just felt compelled to do it, as I fell in 'love' with Japan as a country (i've always wanted to go there, and it did not disappoint) and I think Inside Japan Tours are an excellent company to go with, if you're ever thinking about visiting Japan.</p>

I would like to thank you for not only an awesome dynasty but for also introducing me to how puro is supposed to be ran. I love the idea of PGHW, but I never had an idea how to get the point of respect and honor across. I tried messing with the match to angle ratio but it just felt wrong.

Not having access to Japense wrestling I never would have thought of the post show press conference. Thank you for introducing me to this. It has made the puro scene in the Cornellverse an option for me now. You finally made it all click for me. Thanks again.

<p></p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;"><span style="font-size:12px;">Night of the Burning Hammer Predictions/Booking Analysis</span></span></strong></p><p>

</p></div><p></p><p></p><p>

<span style="font-size:10px;"><em>So as it's the big show, I'm actually going to provide full analysis on the predictions and the reasons behind the booking decisions. </em></span></p><p><span style="font-size:10px;"> </span></p><p><span style="font-size:10px;">

</span><span style="font-size:10px;"><strong>Pre-show Match: Young Lions vs Veterans</strong></span></p><p><span style="font-size:10px;">

</span><span style="font-size:10px;"><em>(All 7 Predictors picked the Veterans to win)-</em></span></p><p><span style="font-size:10px;"> </span></p><p><span style="font-size:10px;">

As Dragonmack said Young Lions don't win, saying that I was tempted to give the 'young lions' the rub, as I wouldn't have incurred the penalty but in the end I felt it was better to treat the vets (even if they are at the jobber end) with a bit of respect. The likes of Shikitei and Sato can get their break out moments down the line (though admittedly they may not see the light of day in this diary). </span></p><p><span style="font-size:10px;"> </span></p><p><span style="font-size:10px;">

</span><span style="font-size:10px;"><strong>Match 1: Junior Championship: Sensational Dragon vs Elemental III</strong></span></p><p><span style="font-size:10px;">

</span><span style="font-size:10px;"><em>(6 for Elemental III, 1 for Sensational Dragon)</em></span></p><p><span style="font-size:10px;"> </span></p><p><span style="font-size:10px;">

General consensus was that Elemental III would follow up his BOSJ Cup victory and be the one to end Dragon's year long reign at the biggest show of the year. Not that doing the obvious thing sometimes is bad, but this path just seemed a little too obvious to me with the cup winner being the one to end the reign of the long reigning champion. However I also wanted a reason for Elemental III failing to get it done, and that's where Masuko came in, with Masuko's own failures to wrest the belt from Dragon- causing him to become jealous enough to interefere and cost Elemental III the victory. The reason he also tried to attack Dragon, was to also make the point that the interference was for his own selfish reasons not to help Dragon. </span></p><p><span style="font-size:10px;"> </span></p><p><span style="font-size:10px;">

</span><span style="font-size:10px;"><strong>Match 2: Tag Contenders: Explosive Tension vs Wild Fire</strong></span></p><p><span style="font-size:10px;">

</span><span style="font-size:10px;"><em>(5 for Explosive Tension, 2 for Wild Fire)</em></span></p><p><span style="font-size:10px;"> </span></p><p><span style="font-size:10px;">

It appears that the general feeling is that Explosive Tension have a bit more momentum behind them in terms of being considered challengers for the World Tag Team Championship and that was reflected with the predictors picks, and that certainly is the case right now with the RAGE duo going over. I've not given up on Wild Fire, but for the forseeable future right now they're like the number 4/5 team (along with perennial rivals Black Magic) as the teams not quite there in terms of challenging for the belts.</span></p><p><span style="font-size:10px;"> </span></p><p><span style="font-size:10px;">

</span><span style="font-size:10px;"><strong>Match 3: Loser Leaves BHOTWG: American Optimus vs Super Joshuya</strong></span></p><p><span style="font-size:10px;">

</span><span style="font-size:10px;"><em>(All 7 for Super Joshuya)</em></span></p><p><span style="font-size:10px;"> </span></p><p><span style="font-size:10px;">

Easiest match of the night to call- Well it appeared that everyone here actually paid attention to the start of the diary, and the fact that American Optimus would be forced to leave Burning Hammer, due to Kaneko's owner goal about not hiring or re-hiring those who had been in trouble with the law.</span></p><p><span style="font-size:10px;"> </span></p><p><span style="font-size:10px;">

It's a bit annoying that I have to lose American Optimus/Plague/Black Eagle/Ian Herring because though he wasn't a top end Junior, he did provide a solid midcard prescence in that division, but unfortunatelty the owner goal was what it was. But I decided I wanted to respect his talents enough to give him a notable send off and that was how the teaming up, breaking up and then becoming rivals with Super Joshuya angle came out. Joshuya seemed the obvious choice, because of his own history of teaming with the original Optimus and also the fact that he didn't really have much direction either- however with American Optimus now banished, just what to do with Super Joshuya now?</span></p><p><span style="font-size:10px;"> </span></p><p><span style="font-size:10px;">

</span><span style="font-size:10px;"><strong>Match 4: Kinnojo Horri vs Yasunobu Masuno</strong></span></p><p><span style="font-size:10px;">

</span><span style="font-size:10px;"><em>(All 7 for Kinnojo Horri)</em></span></p><p><span style="font-size:10px;"> </span></p><p><span style="font-size:10px;">

Actually this probably ties with the Loser Leaves Burning Hammer contest for easiest match of the night to predict, if Masuno wasn't going to get the job done against Mister Macho, he certainly isn't going to go over a genuine World Title contender in Horri, plus you can also add in the fact that with Nakasawa showing signs of turning heel, Horri needed to be kept strong to step into the role of being the new heroic standard bearer for the Sekigun. When I was planning things out right at the beginning , I was tempted to have Horri be the one to turn heel out of the Sekigun powerhouses, but he's what you call a natural babyface and the fans just wouldn't have been able to buy into a heel turn from him. </span></p><p><span style="font-size:10px;"> </span></p><p><span style="font-size:10px;">

</span><span style="font-size:10px;"><strong>Match 5: Glenn Trial Series: Kevin Christopher Glenn vs Marihito Masuko</strong></span></p><p><span style="font-size:10px;">

</span><span style="font-size:10px;"><em>(All 7 for Marihito Masuko)</em></span></p><p><span style="font-size:10px;"> </span></p><p><span style="font-size:10px;">

OK actually the third guaranteed correct answer of the show (so I guess we have a three way tie for easiest match of the night to predict), and all these matches end up following on from one another! Of course Glenn a young lion, looking for his first victory wasn't going to go over an established Junior title contender in Masuko. </span></p><p><span style="font-size:10px;"> </span></p><p><span style="font-size:10px;">

</span><span style="font-size:10px;"><strong>Match 6: Junior Tag Championship: Black Heart Flying Squadron vs Little Fury vs Size of the Fight vs Universal Excellence</strong></span></p><p><span style="font-size:10px;">

</span><span style="font-size:10px;"><em>(3 for Universal Excellence, 2 for Black Heart Flying Squadron, 2 for Size of the Fight)</em></span></p><p><span style="font-size:10px;"> </span></p><p><span style="font-size:10px;">

One of the more difficult matches to call, but it generally is harder to choose with more options involved- though no one picked Little Fury (guess everyone saw them as the fourth wheel). It was however always the plan for the BHFS to win the belts at Fire Dream and hold them until Night of the Burning Hammer. Now initially Size of the Fight were the obvious choice to end BHFS reign as champions, but the emergence of Universal Excellence changed that- I always wanted to team Kurofuji and Yasujiro given their WLW connections but the fact that they had excellent chemistry as a team- sparked me into giving them a real push towards the top of the Junior Tag ranks. The four teams involved in this match are essentially the cornerstones of my Junior Tag division, but I know that I can't rely on them completely in order to keep things fresh. </span></p><p><span style="font-size:10px;"> </span></p><p><span style="font-size:10px;">

</span><span style="font-size:10px;"><strong>Match 7: Title Shot vs Mask: Mister Macho vs Some Dude In A Mask</strong></span></p><p><span style="font-size:10px;">

</span><span style="font-size:10px;"><em>(All 7 for Mister Macho)</em></span></p><p><span style="font-size:10px;"> </span></p><p><span style="font-size:10px;">

Seems like everyone's judgement was clouded by the fact that they're desperate to see who is behind the Mask. Some Dude is being built as an unstoppable machine, and it's going to take someone even higher in rank than Macho, to stop him in his tracks. His true identity will be revealed eventually but there will be more to it, than him simply de-masking and then carrying on as himself.</span></p><p><span style="font-size:10px;"> </span></p><p><span style="font-size:10px;">

As for Macho, his singles push continues but not necessarily towards the very top of the card, perhaps the soon to be introduced Burning Heavyweight Championship will be something for him to aim for? Also the introduction of Erisabet-Chan (Yuki Akiyama) will also have meaning beyond her merely provding 'eye candy' at ring-side for a bunch of Otaku's to drool over. </span></p><p><span style="font-size:10px;"> </span></p><p><span style="font-size:10px;">

</span><span style="font-size:10px;"><strong>Match 8: Blended Whisky vs Hidden Spark vs Snow Lizzard</strong></span></p><p><span style="font-size:10px;">

</span><span style="font-size:10px;"><em>(5 for Hidden Spark, 2 for Blended Whisky)</em></span></p><p><span style="font-size:10px;"> </span></p><p><span style="font-size:10px;">

I love the fact that Infernalmiko's analysis skipped this filler match, mind you my own write up- treated it as the 'bathroom break' match that it was. This was always going to be between one of the newer pairings, as Snow Lizzard's job these days is simply to be low card gatekeepers. In the end the low ranked 'heavyweight' tag team trumps the low ranked Junior Tag Team. I think many went for Hidden Spark over Blended Whisky, as I've given more hints towards giving Yoshikawa and Koyama more of a focus...that I have done by teaming them together but they are still someway off a push. In alot of ways I think I should have just made this a straight 2vs2 tag with Snow Lizzard putting over Blended Whisky and have the Hidden Spark guys involved in the pre-show match. </span></p><p><span style="font-size:10px;"> </span></p><p><span style="font-size:10px;">

</span><span style="font-size:10px;"><strong>Match 9: Tables Match: BURNING Cobra vs Yasuhiko Taira</strong></span></p><p><span style="font-size:10px;">

</span><span style="font-size:10px;"><em>(6 for Cobra, 1 for Taira)</em></span></p><p><span style="font-size:10px;"> </span></p><p><span style="font-size:10px;">

Well most correctly tipped Cobra to emerge with the 'against the odds' victory here, though for the one descenting voice (Infernalmiko) I was tempted to go the other way and I can totally see her reasons that heavyweights should be portrayed to be stronger than Juniors. However in the end, I decided that this would be one of the matches where I would give the 'fans' the result they would want to see with Cobra heroically over-coming the odds. </span></p><p><span style="font-size:10px;"> </span></p><p><span style="font-size:10px;">

Also as pointed out the in the Onodera diaries post, that the weight restrictions on the Burning World Championship will be officially lifted, and though in general heavyweights will be booked strogner, there is what I see as being a small band of Juniors who can 'compete' with them- Cobra is amongs them. As for the Black Magic guys (Taira and Masuno), the intention was always to portray them as having the physical tools to dominate, but to also have a weakness to be out-smarted, due to their arrogance clouding their judgement. </span></p><p><span style="font-size:10px;"> </span></p><p><span style="font-size:10px;">

</span><span style="font-size:10px;"><strong>Match 10: World Tag Team Championship: The Rebellion vs Rapid Danger</strong></span></p><p><span style="font-size:10px;">

</span><span style="font-size:10px;"><em>(5 for The Rebellion, 2 for Rapid Danger)</em></span></p><p><span style="font-size:10px;"> </span></p><p><span style="font-size:10px;">

General feeling is that The Rebellion would retain the titles, probably because their current run still had plenty of mileage left in it and also Rapid Danger were showing signs of not being on the same page. Of course the 'communication' issues was a smoke-screen to what was really going on- and the former INSPIRE pair head into the next show with the Tag belts alongside their new stable mate Nakasawa who holds the Unified World Championship due to their 'help'</span></p><p><span style="font-size:10px;"> </span></p><p><span style="font-size:10px;"> </span></p><p><span style="font-size:10px;">

</span><span style="font-size:10px;"><strong>Match 11: Unified World Championship: Hiroaki Nakasawa vs Tadiyuki Kikkawa</strong></span></p><p><span style="font-size:10px;">

</span><span style="font-size:10px;"><em>(6 for Nakasawa, 1 for Kikkawa)</em></span></p><p><span style="font-size:10px;"> </span></p><p><span style="font-size:10px;">

Well I think most felt that this would be a torch-passing moment with Nakasawa going over Kikkawa, but I don't think anyone saw Nakasawa triumphing, due to to inteference from Rapid Danger and for Nakasawa's gradual descent into heel-dom and for the collapse of INSPIRE to merge together in this one match- though Miko to her credit did call Nakasawa using nefarious tactics in her predictions. Reasons as to why I decided to go in this direction, have of course already been covered in the Onodera Diaries post. </span></p><p><span style="font-size:10px;">
