Anyone on Red dead Redemption 2 ? a GREAT GREAT Game.

Here is where I try not to rip this game, but Ive just finished chapter 2 and I hate the game with a passion. It is one of the top 10 worst games I've ever played. Graphically it is a marvel, from a gameplay stance it is awful. Controls are clunky, aiming is near impossible on manual, the core health/stamina/deadeye system is horrible and they have learned nothing from the faults of previous Rockstar games because all of them are in this.

I'm not saying this to be controversial, I'm saying it because I could have wiped my arse with a £50 note and it would have been a better use for the money. Having to brush and bath my horse to keep its "cores" full? That sums up the level of "fun" for me in this game. Your character moves like he is wearing a concrete suit. Having to stay at the slow, mundane speeds your mission companion is going makes it all the more tedious. I JUST WANT TO GET TO THE MISSION! Talking of the horse riding, it's like trying to drive an arctic lorry and constantly pulling you in directions you're not even directing it to! It's like they took the worst responding car in GTA V and skinned it to look like a horse. Heaven help you when you get on a carriage!

So far of the 9 hours and 2 completed chapters I've played the majority of that time has been, finding food to keep my weight maintained, riding my horse from one generic mission to another (all the missions are pretty much the same so far). Cleaning both myself and the horse to maintain those ridiculous "cores" and getting shot in the middle of nowhere by randomly spawning O'Driscolls who appear from Asgaard.

It appears Rockstar could release a game where your entire goal is to eat a biscuit and people would say "it is truly showing what these new consoles can do". RDR2 is basically an earlier unpatched version of The Witcher 3, minus the decent story and expansive DLC but with the added bonus of bathing! At least Geralt was wearing armour which can explain his movement speed, I think Arthur must be made from wood because there is no other reason someone in a shirt and trousers would move the way he does.

That isn't even all that is wrong with this game but I feel it has taken enough of my time already.

Odyssey is tedium incarnate. As grindy as an MMO, but with Dark Souls-like combat that misses everything that makes it good in said game. I got to play it free thanks to that Project Stream thing Google's doing and I still feel like I wasted $60.</p>

<p>So I just recently bought a PS4 (my first console since I dumped my 360 a few years ago)....I mainly bought it for Spiderman. Spidey was a great game...played a lot like the Batman Arkham games but even better and a really engrossing story.</p><p> </p><p>

I was really looking to selling Spiderman for RDR2 next but Fleisch your criticisms have me doing a double-take. I've read a lot of mixed reviews online for the game as well. Still not decided because the original Red Dead Redemption (even Revolver too as a matter of fact) was a game I loved playing and lost many hours on...</p>

<p>I'm actually really enjoying RDR2 at the moment, and the slower paced motion. Just feels to me like most other games has the player permanent running places and this feels more real.</p><p> </p><p>

However... being a little more flush with cash this month, i purchased a <a href="http://www.thrustmaster.com/products/tflight-hotas-one" rel="external nofollow">HOTAS One</a> mostly for Elite Dangerous.. Damn that change the game up</p>

<p>Played through LiS but I didn't really think it was that amazing. So not hyped for a second part.</p><p> </p><p>

For me now it's just finishing the games I've started (Thronebreaker) and waiting for the Resident Evil II remake and Dead or Alive 6, though the latter doesn't really excite me. Somewhere this month we might see the release of Showtime 2, which could be a fun text-sim like TEW. And there's of course the endless wait for Mount & Blade II. <img alt=":p" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/tongue.png.ceb643b2956793497cef30b0e944be28.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p>

Been playing RDR2 and loving it... Yes, there are definitely flaws and I find certain aspects of the game pretty challenging... Travel can be slow and tedious... All that said, the character development and world building are top notch. I've had a ridiculous amount of fun with mundane tasks (hunting, fishing, collecting bounties, breaking horses, etc.). 20+ hours in and I feel like I haven't even scratched the surface yet.

<p>It indeed looks like gaming is falling apart, with Diablo Mobile and Fallout 76 the prime examples. The sad thing is that people probably don't care. I feel it's become an "issue" online but sadly that's mainly a couple of influential people nagging about it. Quite frankly the companies probably couldn't care less as the bulk of the gaming crowd nowadays is indeed mobile and just buys whatever they bring out, regardless of quality standards. Why don't you try giving it your all when your boss doesn't give a hoot, and see where you end up. That's right: you just do the minimal necessary with the same outcomes.</p><p> </p><p>

Ever since mobile internet was a thing (even before the Iphone in 2007) console only represented a minor portion of the sales. So it makes sense to invest in it. I said before that Valve just can't justify working on another game as it'd be "ineffective" from an economic standpoint. And I firmly stand by my opinion that it's impossible to make a genuinely "good" game on mobile. </p><p> </p><p>

That being said, I guess TEW could in some form appear on tablets and it'd be controllable and awesome. There's also stellar board games and card games who find their way to mobile and are rockin' it. Eternal, ES:Legends, Ascension, Through the Ages, ... And I can see text-based story games do well, but right now that's a niche market for indy devs with very varying degrees of quality (at least from my uninformed standpoint). But that is exactly where it ends imo.</p><p> </p><p>

-------------</p><p> </p><p>

Anybody bought something during Cyber Monday? I got me Divinity: Original Sin 2 (I know, I'm probably the last gamin' Belgian to get it <img alt=":p" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/tongue.png.ceb643b2956793497cef30b0e944be28.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />), Pillars of Eternity 2 (someday) and WWE 2K19. Very surprised they already priced the latter off to 20$(?!) a month after release. I rarely play those games but they are fun enough to pay 20$ for it I guess. Finally I got the new CKII expansion "Holy Fury", so I've got enough games to last me through the winter and beyond. As there's literally nothing beyond the horizon for me (except Resi2 and DOA6), that'll be it for a long while.</p>

<p>In regards to Fallout 76, from what I have heard about it (Once again I have not played it so I am just going by information I have gotten on it) the game is a buggy mess. Many feel that the game was rushed out and is not a complete game. </p><p> </p><p>

They also did not listen to their core audience. It has nothing to do with toxic masculinity or any such nonsense, it is just a company making a game that (from what I can gather) the majority of their fan base does not want. Folks did not want a Fallout MMO, you could see it from the reactions once they announced it.</p><p> </p><p>

Also, the lack of NPC's means the game is not as dynamic.</p><p> </p><p>

I think that is what is happening with a lot of video game companies and the entertainment industry as a whole. They are not listening to their fans, they are making the games they want to make and not the games their fans want to see.</p>

I went back to RDR2 and having now completed the single campaign, I have to say it picks up from chapter 4. The same flaws that bugged me originally still apply but the story ended up being pretty good. First 3 chapters still sucked, and I had to fight through the boredom of those before I could start to enjoy it a little more.

Now onto the online portion. Same trolling little no lifers and their 24-7 gameplay ruin it for anyone who cannot put that level of time in. Every other player seems to have ridiculously overpowered guns and the best horses after 3 days, but instead of allowing others to enjoy the story and just going about their business they instead decide to kill at random for no other reason than they can. This in turn will lose Rockstar players, and potential sales of their microtransactions within the beta period because there is no friends only or invite only option.

I shall be looking for a new game to get into because RDR2 Online is not for me.

I think we're going to see a compression of AAA publishers (particularly EA once Anthem flops like Battlefield V has) and I'm hoping that will lead to a similar situation to what PC gaming had in the late 90s-early 2000s where AA publishers more in tune with their developers will rise up and give us games that may not exactly push the envelope technically but will be fantastic to play.</p>

I do think it's been a major push back this year because a lot of the games have been...Lackluster to say the least. It's been that way for a while, but it's just getting worse and worse. Other than diablo, I'll admit my games are more indie style. I think Indie games are going to make a bigger splash in 2019 than expected because of people getting tired of these big companies screwing people over.</p><p> </p><p> I saw something on Facebook that was mentioned that most of the companies trying to screw the customer over are American companies, I don't know how true that is, because it seems to be most companies at this point.</p>

Are there some Elder Scrolls fans here?

I was playing Skyrim just this week. If it's modded, it's just great. And I've enjoyed Oblivion before. Couldn't get into Morrowind as I found the combat lacking and played NWN instead. I'm also playing the card game and their MMO is the MMO I've played the most (1 whole hour :p).

Here's probably the funniest gaming-related thing I've seen this year:
