<p>I had to get a crack at Resi2 given I never played it so far, and I was very excited as it's the only title I marked for 2019 apart from DOA6 and Mount&Blade 2 (if it finally releases this year). Still, though it is a great game, I can't get myself to really like it. Survival Horror is a niche genre. You can't deny that it's not mainstream like Resi5/6. Both goth critisized by the "vocal minority", but were appreciated by a mainstream audience. This game, however, is just too hard for "casuals" like me. There's a perennial stalker during a portion of the game, which is incredibly annoying and stressfull. Obviously that is the goal of the game, to provide a stressfull environment. But that's not what I'm looking for in a game. I want to blow off steam after a workday. Thank god it has "assisted" mode, where ammo isn't scarse. "Standard" mode though... damn. You're just lost if you aren't perfectly aware of the map and the location of all the items, especially on the second playthrough.</p><p> </p><p>

To be fair, I'm not disappointed, and the game is great. Just thought it'd be more fun for me. A friend payd 60 for this (on my recommendation) and hated it. Thank god I only paid 35. <img alt=":p" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/tongue.png.ceb643b2956793497cef30b0e944be28.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /> Worth the 7 hours of gameplay I had I guess.</p>

It is one of the top 10 worst games I've ever played. Graphically it is a marvel, from a gameplay stance it is awful. Controls are clunky, aiming is near impossible on manual, the core health/stamina/deadeye system is horrible and they have learned nothing from the faults of previous Rockstar games because all of them are in this.<p> </p><p> I'm not saying this to be controversial, I'm saying it because I could have wiped my arse with a £50 note and it would have been a better use for the money. Having to brush and bath my horse to keep its "cores" full? That sums up the level of "fun" for me in this game. Your character moves like he is wearing a concrete suit. Having to stay at the slow, mundane speeds your mission companion is going makes it all the more tedious. I JUST WANT TO GET TO THE MISSION! Talking of the horse riding, it's like trying to drive an arctic lorry and constantly pulling you in directions you're not even directing it to! It's like they took the worst responding car in GTA V and skinned it to look like a horse. Heaven help you when you get on a carriage! </p><p> </p><p> So far of the 9 hours and 2 completed chapters I've played the majority of that time has been, finding food to keep my weight maintained, riding my horse from one generic mission to another (all the missions are pretty much the same so far). Cleaning both myself and the horse to maintain those ridiculous "cores" and getting shot in the middle of nowhere by randomly spawning O'Driscolls who appear from Asgaard.</p><p> </p><p> It appears Rockstar could release a game where your entire goal is to eat a biscuit and people would say "it is truly showing what these new consoles can do". RDR2 is basically an earlier unpatched version of The Witcher 3, minus the decent story and expansive DLC but with the added bonus of bathing! At least Geralt was wearing armour which can explain his movement speed, I think Arthur must be made from wood because there is no other reason someone in a shirt and trousers would move the way he does.</p><p> </p><p> That isn't even all that is wrong with this game but I feel it has taken enough of my time already.</p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> Gav...Gav...have you seen my friend Gavin?</p>

Before I started Oblivion on PS Now, I gave RDR 1 a spin and I just found it not to be for me. Not there was anything aggressively bad about the game. Story was sound, mechanics were very playable although I was completely naff at shooting. I think the biggest thing for me is that it seemed to be spread out for the sake of being spread out and marketing how big the map was. I certainly understand how it got the audience it did but I am so glad I didn't pay money specifically for that game,</p>

Just spend a couple of bucks on supposedly good indy games: Cultist Simulator and Renowned Explorers. The first one seems pretty fresh and was definitely exciting for a while, but given the lack of tutorial I didn't know what I was doing for the first 15 minutes. I took it for a cardgame and it kind of is, in a way, but it's... just a little weird. Thumbs up for bringing something new to the table though. Adore the genre. The theme is just not my thing, and for a "narrative cardgame" that's kinda key.

Got back to playing WMMA5 as I'm not that keen on continuing with Skyrim for some reason (still need to finish the damn game ffs, how long's it been?). Would love some TEW16 but with 20 coming this year (potentially), I'll hold out. And those cardgames like TES:Legends, MtG Arena and Gwent take up too much time if you start playing them, which is why I quit them for now. Still the best cardgames out there in terms of feel and look.

Also got Wreckfest which was a blast to play. It REALLY is the ol' Destruction Derby but with great physics which is exactly what it needed. It's pure carnage in some tracks. Just what I needed so worth the money (and it's still quite a lot; I think I paid 30$?).

<p>Picked up Two Point Hospital while it was discounted about a week and a half ago. I purposely waited for it to be patched up after some concerning reviews right after it was released.</p><p> </p><p>

It really is a modern update to Theme Hospital which I loved playing back in the day. It retains the wackiness and comic genius of TH while updating the graphics, offering more decorative items and expanding some of the game mechanics like training.</p><p> </p><p>

The early levels are easy once you know the basics but it's nice to play a game that's intentionally chill. It's also super addictive. I've been playing every day and clocked in almost 40 hours.</p>

I only play multiplayer in cardgames, that's it. So yes, there's a career mode. And the AI is definitely bent on destruction. There's 4 AI types I believe, where the two main ones are racing and derby.

Like the F-Zero games (when the hell is the next one arriving? I'll buy a Nintendo just for that!) there's a competition of points and you can ram the leaders to screw them over. Putting the damage model on realistic is a must, and it'll turn some races into purely surviving. I once put myself on the sidelines after the race and got a beer, and when I came back I was the only car in the race.

Steam sales are back again, and there's some fun sales going on. South Park II is only 5$. Was thinking about getting SoulCalibur IV, which is 20$, or Assassin's Creed Odyssey, which is 30$. The latter seems best given I enjoy atmospheric and immersive games lately. And it looks quite stunning.

Mortal Kombat 11 is still way too expensive. I mainly play those games for the storyline and then shelve it indefinately, so I'm never giving more than 20$ for it.

Ended up getting all 3. SC6 was meh, but Odyssey turned out ti be a gem. Did NOT expect that from f'n Ubisoft. I guess not having played an AC game since brotherhood made me crave this title. I really recommend it though it strays from the traditional AC experience and just turns you into a mass murderer instead. But if you like that timeframe you will love this.

Question for the European gamers out there. Have seen some Tour de France games on PS Now when trying to decide what I want to play next. So I was wondering what y'all thought of these games and how they played. Are they management sims or are you riding the race yourself? Would they be worth the time for someone who doesn't really know the sport or particularly care to watch it? Been curious how such a game would work but haven't been able to talk myself into trying them yet. Should I look into changing that? I haven't done any sports games on Now since getting it in January so it owuld be something different at the very least.

<p>I used to be a megafan of those games back in the day, but I'm talking about 10+ years ago. At the moment the games are really just carbon copies of the last version, so I'd recommend getting one of the cheapest ones on Steam. It doesn't matter what year.</p><p> </p><p>

On PS they take a more "racing" approach, but nominally they are manager games quite like TEW. It's a lot of fun to race yourself but you can just sim the stages and focus on the management: who's riding when, when are the riders peaking, etc. Just get it on PC though. It's crazy to imagine it on PS. The only one I've played on console was the first one, and that was laughably bad. I almost won the TdF with Cancellara. <img alt="" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/eek.png.0e09df00fa222c85760b9bc1700b5405.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p>

<p>Just heard that Yukes and 2K are no longer cooperating. This means we might see a second WWE game pop up, which has been ages (since the console three-way split, namely RAW, SD! and DoR).</p><p> </p><p>

Here's me crossing my fingers for something great, because lately their games have been mediocre imho. I've caved and purchased the last one relatively early, but it wasn't worth the price.</p>

I got the Pro Cycling Manager from last year. Has improved in the last couple of years but set-up is still the same. You do have a career mode now as well (<> management only mode). Replace the default DB with a better one (PCM Daily I think) and you got a decent (but still buggy) game.

Just finished the Gears 5 campaign, it's.. short. Like really short, like finish it in one sitting short (though I didn't do this due to work and so on).

Looking back the game is still great but there's a lot of stuff that they out and out just don't wrap up and feel unfinished. I'm not going to go into any spoilery territory here, but I will say the "big" fight at the end that the Gears games usually give never comes (though they try and fail) and it's a shame.

Personally, I would have gone about it differently and the campaign could have been much better and longer but they went a different direction and honestly, as a Gears fan, I feel unfulfilled. This doesn't take away from the fun I had but I read somewhere that they were taking a more "storyline" based approach to Gears 5, when the Gears of War games (especially 1-3) have excellent campaigns and storylines, though 4's isn't amazing it has an excellent ending and 5 has an excellent beginning to tie up that ending but they shouldn't have changed the formula that was working. Don't fix something that isn't broken.

Overall, I'd recommend the game to Gears fans only, don't pick up this game without any experience of the previous games cause a) there's a lot of lore and history that you need to know to understand what's going on and b) this is not the type of game to start your experience of a franchise cause you will be confused and probably stop playing it. If you want to try Gears out play Gears 1 first and make your way to Gears 5.

So... who's preordering the new WWE game? I know, I know. I got the game relatively early last year and barely played it and spend more time managing the rosters in Universe mode than anything else, but I'll play more this year damnit! :p

To be honest, the new DLC concept with thematic updates seemed missable at first, but then I saw the arenas. Good lord that looks awesome, though the novelty will wear off soon I reckon. Despite a bad track record and despite GM mode still isn't back in - next year they really don't have an excuse; it's mainly a couple of cosmetic changes and some programmed events, guys... - I think I might just preorder it and play it when it's been patched.

And there's just not many games out there for me this year (Gears5 is not for me at all). I still have a backlog from the last few years to get through after FINALLY finishing AC:Odyssey (150 hours?). I didn't get through the last segments of Atlantis as it was too much of a grind to progress. Not to "level" but the story segments are locked until you "clear" the map, which is ridiculous given the game has so many content. They don't need to artificially lenghten it at all. Still got Heavy Rain, Beyond:two souls, Divinity OS 2, and Pillars of Eternity 2. But I'll probably skip the latter as it's just too hard to immerse yourself into.

I just got 2K19 from a 3 for 25 deal from Gamestop alongside Horizon Zero Dawn and another game I don't recall. I don't see paying full price for a 2K next year version.
