T-Rex vs. Giant Redwood vs. Anger vs. Freddie Datsun

I want to choose Giant Redwood. He is my favorite guy in USPW, but I'm sure Phil is going to get behind a guy he created... T-Rex.

Enygma vs. Peter Valentine

Valentine may have purpose, but Enygma is one of your main stars

Darryl Devine/Andre Jones vs. The Hillbillies

HIllbillies are jobbers

Jumbo Jackson vs. Captain USA

squash

T-Rex vs. Giant Redwood vs. Anger vs. Freddie Datsun

Datsun could win, but T-Rex has a lot of value as a monster heel

Glad to have you on board Lt. Lucrativo. You used to follow my SWF diary, did you not?

Yep, enjoyed it quite a bit.

Enygma vs. Peter Valentine

Enygma brings so much more to the table, he's got to go over here. But my guess is that Valentine will come out looking strong--perhaps losing by DQ.

Darryl Devine/Andre Jones vs. The Hillbillies

Looks like Phil's not up for pushing the Hillbillies, unfortunately. Devine and Jones both have some upward mobility--if they can somehow pull a decent match out their opponents here, it'll have to raise their stock.

Jumbo Jackson vs. Captain USA

I can't say I expect to see the Captain winning too many matches. Plus Phil's had some good things to say about Jackson, if I remember correctly.

T-Rex vs. Giant Redwood vs. Anger vs. Freddie Datsun

This one's got to come down to T-Rex or Datsun, doesn't it? I'll go with the monster, but it's conceivable that Datsun could win, especially since he could do so without pinning T-Rex, whom I'd assume Vibert would want to keep looking strong.

Thanks for the compliment, Oregano, although I hardly think my USPW has reached the heights of a few I've read. J-Silver anyone? Angeldelayete's got a good idea what to do, too.

Yeah, J Silver's USPW is great, don't get me wrong. (Among others.) I think my point was that I'm really liking the "old school schlock" element, as you put it -- and I don't think I've seen that portrayed in quite such a note-perfect fashion before. Which isn't a slight at all to (for example) J Silver, because that wasn't what he was trying to do.

Anyway!

Enygma vs. Peter Valentine

Nobody's crazy enough to push Peter Valentine... are they?

Darryl Devine/Andre Jones vs. The Hillbillies

I'm tempted to say that the established team beats the ad hoc team. But in this case, the ad hoc team is so much better -- both in terms of booking and in terms of talent -- that I just can't.

Jumbo Jackson vs. Captain USA

I thought the Ford Memphis match was the Captain's last? I'm half convinced this match doesn't happen as scheduled, but if it does go off like this, Jackson has to take it -- he's a decent worker with overness, and Captain USA is almost as retired as he should be.

T-Rex vs. Giant Redwood vs. Anger vs. Freddie Datsun

More like "Giant Ed Wood", am I right? Worst wrestler ever. Anyway, I like Datsun more than T-Rex, though something tells me Rex takes it.

Enygma vs. Peter Valentine - I may be dreaming, but what the heck.

Darryl Devine/Andre Jones vs. The Hillbillies - Can't see Hillbillies winning many matches, but they can take these two.

Jumbo Jackson vs. Captain USA - Can't see USA winning many matches.

T-Rex vs. Giant Redwood vs. Anger vs. Freddie Datsun - T-Rex shocks everyone by managing to hit some insane power move on the giant - but Datsun sneaks the victory by pinning Anger.

Enygma vs. Peter Valentine

More like, Vibert wouldn't be dumb enough to put Valentine over Engyma would he? :p

Darryl Devine/Andre Jones vs. The Hillbillies

Young guys that Vibert thinks has an upside, against comedy jobbers

Jumbo Jackson vs. Captain USA

Hmmm I thought Captain USA and his bullsh*t Red, White and Blue gimmick had already been show the door after this last match, looks like Phil just wants to bury this guy even more.

T-Rex vs. Giant Redwood vs. Anger vs. Freddie Datsun

Simply because out of the four, Datsun brings the least amount of suck.

USPW American Wrestling

Live on Sports America

Week 2 September

St. Petersburg, FL

Sam Strong appears on the screen as the show goes live, sitting behind his desk alongside his two bespectacled lawyers, his daughter Alicia, and Nicky Champion. He reaches into his jacket pocket and pulls out a piece of paper, from which he begins reading.

SS: “Mr. Vibert, it is with the greatest pleasure that I announce to you and the world that the attorney general’s office of Florida has accepted our filing of an injunction to put your purchase of USPW on hold indefinitely.”

The fans in the arena pop like crazy. But as Sam folds the statement and deposits it back in his pocket.

Lawyer: “It has come to our attention that a minority shareholder that had previously pledged to sell their shares to the Vibert Group has now pulled them back and will be holding onto them until further notice. Therefore….”

The other lawyer steps forward and pushes up his bifocals.

Lawyer Two: “With those shares in limbo, Sam Strong still owns an equal amount of the USPW, regardless of whether the Vibert Group buys up all the remaining shares not owned by Mr. Strong.”

SS: “That means, until we find out who owns those shares, because right now the owner of them remains anonymous behind an account number…..”

He leans in toward the camera.

SS: “……I’m not going anywhere, Phil. And neither is USPW.”

They all stay in the same position for a second before the lights turn and the cameraman puts the camera back onto the tripod. The shot is off center, but it’s still on, rolling, and recording everything.

Alicia shakes hands with the lawyers, but Sam leaves them hanging, his focus elsewhere.

SS: “I’ve got to go find Valentine, man. I don’t know what he was thinking last week, hitting Nicky with that chair.”

He walks by the lens and clenches his jaw.

SS: “He needs a talking to.”

Savage Fury vs. Roderick Remus/Brendan Idol

Result: This week’s in-ring action kicks off with two local wrestlers getting the chance of a lifetime; the chance to perform in a USPW ring on live television. However, their chance is long gone before it even appears, as they are thoroughly demolished by Savage Fury who do everything possible to live up to their name, ending things with a disgusting “Double HHS” (Tandem running boot).

Phil’s Story Notes: Just a straight up squash designed to make Java and Warrior look as dominant as possible. Along with the Women’s Division, the tag teams and their quality is something that I will be focusing on over the long haul. These are both things that can and will differentiate us from TCW and SWF.

Savage Fury wins via pinfall @ 2:01

Vibert and his nearly-bigger-than-the-doorframe bodyguard, Charlie Thatcher, stroll through the backstage area very obviously looking for someone while the fans boo their very appearance back in the arena. Most of the boys avert their eyes when Vibert passes, which amuses him to no end. Finally, he stops in front of the locker marked ‘Des Davids’.

CT: “You got a minute for the boss?”

Davids blinks at them once or twice before going back to his wrist wraps.

DD: “You still the boss? Them lawyers said the courts are going to get involved….”

Thatcher steps up to him, drawing Davids to his feet. The pair goes nose-to-nose before Vibert steps in between them, whispering to Davids most assuredly.

PV: “Oh, he’s got time for me. I’m going to make him a superstar.”

Davids’ facial expression seems indifferent as he stands up and follows Thatcher and Vibert out the door……until the camera catches him sneaking a quick grin. You can hear Vibert’s voice as he moves down the hall.

PV: “But first he has to do something for me.”

Footsteps.

PV: “And don’t worry about the courts. I haven’t heard anything from my people; my father taught me to never believe a lawyer. They’re all crooked.”

Shawn Doakes and Mickey Starr welcome everyone to the show from their live broadcast location that sits about halfway up the ramp. When the cameras swoop in from above them, they smile and begin putting over the rest of the show’s lineup, getting particularly excited about tonight’s main event.

SD: “That’s right fans, if you hadn’t heard; Enygma will be in action tonight, taking on Peter Valentine….”

The shot goes backstage; Sam Strong is looking for his longtime best friend.

SD: “Who Sam Strong hasn’t caught up with yet.”

Darryl Devine/Andre Jones vs. The Hillbillies

Result: It takes a strong effort from a pair of men who function like anything but a cohesive unit, but Darryl Devine and Andre Jones end up sneaking by The Hillbillies after Devine’s low blow behind Baby Jamie’s back leads to him scoring with a sudden “DDD”. While Devine and Jones push and shove following the match, Jones disagreeing with Devine’s methods, Ford Memphis comes out onto the stage to point and laugh at the embarrassed country boys. As Jones and Devine are being separated by Baby Jamie, Devine rears back and slaps Jones across the face, causing Jones to go wild.

SD: “I think it all started back at ‘Apple Pie and Wrestling’ when Jones stole that win in their three way. Since then, these two just don’t see eye to eye at all.”

MS: “Speaking of not seeing eye to eye, The Hillbillies are in love with Ford Memphis and he won’t give them the time of day. What a clown he is.”

Phil’s Story Notes: Two stories cross paths here, something that’ll start happening around here more and more as we move forward. I hope it doesn’t confuse those fans living in the bible belt, but we’re going to assume they can learn to keep up over time.

Having really been hyped after last week’s video about his return, the crowd is hushed when the cameras shoot backstage and find Chris Caulfield lying face down on the marooned pavement near his still running rental car. A few staffers are handling the situation as best they can, calling for paramedics and trying to keep the cameraman back.

SD: “He’s bleeding like crazy, Mickey? What’s that feel like?”

MS: “I lost a lot of blood in a lot of different matches, Doakes, but I never lost that much at once. Look at that puddle!”

SD: “Chris Caulfield has a World Title match next week, live, on USPW American Wrestling. That’s what he came here to announce; I wonder if it’s still on?”

Sam Strong is still walking around backstage, as he has been since the beginning of the show, looking for Peter Valentine. He peeks his head into every locker room; the cameras follow him until he walks into and through the catering area. As he goes to recheck the other side of the building, the shot opens up and catches Peter Valentine, standing still as a statue around a blind corner, watching Strong storm in the other direction.

MS: “I knew it, Doakes. I knew he was ducking him.”

Jumbo Jackson vs. Captain USA

Result: Jumbo Jackson’s hard hitting offense is way too much for Captain USA to handle and the flag waving relic goes down for the count in under four minutes, falling victim to the “Jumbo Train” (running avalanche).

Phil’s Story Notes: I’ve taxed Jumbo with a couple of losses in recent weeks. This is an attempt to help him level off. I know I said that Captain USA had had his last match in the USPW, but I just couldn’t resist jobbing him out one or two more times before his contract expires. It makes more fiscal sense than just eating the last couple of months of his agreement without getting anything out of it.

When USPW American Wrestling returns after a commercial break (which included a thirty second ad for “United States of Pain” on PPV) a victorious Jumbo Jackson is headed back to the locker room when suddenly spots Peter Valentine.

Peter looks like he is trying to duck him, too, doing a quick about face and going back the way he came, but Jackson hustles and catches up to him.

JJ: “So, how’re things with Sam, Peter? Or more importantly how’re things coming with getting me a little payback for helping you out with the kid last week?”

Valentine snorts.

PV: “Help? You lost to ‘the kid’, remember? He beat you…..but tonight, I’ve got to beat Enygma. That’s more important right now.”

Jumbo is not impressed. But Valentine changes his tone, patting the large man on the shoulder.

PV: “I’ll hold up my end of the deal, big man, don’t worry. But I might need you to watch my back tonight, too, OK?”

Jackson sighs, but nods, drawing a smile out of Valentine. The two then walk down the hall together, talking as they walk out of sight.

JJ: “So, Sam isn’t mad at you for whacking the kid with a chair.”

Valentine puts his arm out to stop Jackson before slowly leaning and looking both ways down the hall. When he sees it’s clear, they continue.

PV: “I haven’t bumped into him yet.”

T-Rex vs. Freddie Datsun vs. Anger vs. Giant Redwood

Result: Four big, bad men take part in one of the wildest fights in recent memory. However, there is no doubt that T-Rex is in control the entire way, finally grabbing Anger in the “Jurassic Crush” and getting the submission while Redwood and Datsun battle on the floor.

Phil’s Story Notes: I am pained to have booked this. Please accept my apologies. However, I cannot argue with the number of signs in the audience that reference T-Rex’s winning streak. There is obviously something there, and I’m not that full of myself that I’d ignore it because it isn’t of my creation.

Sara Silver tries to catch Enygma for comments on the way to the ring as everyone has been trying to do for the last couple of months. And true to form, the masked mysterioso walks right by the outstretched microphone on his way toward the curtain.

But suddenly he stops.

And turns around.

And waits until Silver jogs up and puts the microphone near his lips.

E: “You want to know why I came back to the USPW, is that it?”

Silver nods slowly. She’s new and has never heard him speak either.

E: “The USPW World Heavyweight Title.”

He turns walking back toward the ring as his music hits.

E: “Now leave me alone.”

*******

Enygma vs. Peter Valentine

Result: Even after finally breaking his silence, Enygma shows that actions speak louder than words in the ring. Using his big match experience to avoid almost all of Peter Valentine’s dirty tricks, Enygma turns a wicked turnover powerslam off of the ropes into an “Enygma Variation” (anklelock) that nets him the tap out victory. Jumbo Jackson comes out with Valentine, but is seconds too late to break up the anklelock after taking too long to make up his mind to get involved.

Phil’s Story Notes: I’m sure this will be a much worse main event in the ring than it is on paper, but USPW fans are so focused on who the star is instead of who can work that I don’t think we’ll suffer for it. Enygma has been one of the main players in SWF and performed on the biggest stages that this business has to offer. Those facts, combined with the long term contract he has with USPW, make pushing him a no-brainer.

Enygma wins via submission @ 9:03

*********

After the match is over Tyson Baine appears on the stage. As soon as Enygma notices, the two engage in a long distance staredown as Shawn Doakes and Mickey Starr start the show toward home.

MS: “Baine must’ve heard Enygma’s interview; saying you are only here for the title is the same as challenging the man to his face. That masked weirdo just signed his death warrant.”

SD: “Why would anyone in their right mind challenge a crazed demon like Tyson Baine? He’s a real life monster.”

We go to a split screen, with Baine on one side and Sam Strong on the other. He has worked himself up quite a bit and shoves a heavy side door open so hard it bangs into the wall. He walks out into the parking area just in time to see the shrinking taillights of the exact shiny black rental car that he is looking for in the distance.

Now, he knows for sure that his best friend is ducking him.

-This week the SWF brought DaVE Danger Zone TV back onto the air as a “B” show on Wednesday nights. Its premiere was rated as a C-.

-Also, SWF held their September PPV Event, Under Control, this week (2) on Thursday night in front of a sold out crowd of 15,000 at The Cattle Market in Puerto Rico. It was headlined by Eric Eisen’s successful defense of the World Heavyweight Title against Jack Bruce (B) and featured a huge showdown angle between the retaining champion and Marat Khoklov (A*). It scored a 3.76 buyrate.

“The computer doesn’t lie, Phil. It’s another C minus.”

“I don’t care what your computer says, pal, I’m on the right track. I know it.”

“Now don’t get me wrong, I’m enjoying it. Quite a bit, in fact. I just think you might’ve jumped the gun when you said you’d be able to take them to the level of SWF or TCW so quickly.”

“Things in this business change in the blink of an eye, my friend. You might be looking at the bottom line right now, but I’m looking at the big picture.”

“Such as?”

“Well, I’m sure it’s easiest to say that we’ve had two ‘C-’ shows……”

“…..two C- shows that steadily drove away the viewer increase that you got right out of the gate. USPW American Wrestling scored the exact TV rating it did three weeks before your takeover. From 1.41 to 1.05 to 1.02 in less than a month? That’s not good.”

“Talk to me about the ratings again in October or November. I’m not a miracle worker; there’s a lot of trash that needs to be taken out in USPW before it can sustain the level I expect.”

“Sure.”

“But, like I said a while ago, the transition itself is going to be the story. We could just turn this into DaVE and alienate all the people that pay to see USPW now so that we could sell tickets and merchandise to the folks who are still waiting for a rebirth of the extreme. It would just be replacing one minority group of fans with another, right?”

“That’s what I would expect would happen, yes.”

“Instead, if I take the time to merge the two audiences by using the story, even pitting them against each other if necessary, I double the amount of people buying our tickets and our merch. And that’s when the ‘casual fan’ that always seems to get pandered to will find his way over to our stuff. That's how it always happens. The mainstream is always the last to know everything.”

“…..”

“And then we’re golden. You just wait.”

“You might be right, however……”

“However nothing. Our matches still aren’t getting the best grades but look at how the angle grades have shot up. I’m getting people over; that’s first. Wait until the end of the month and you see some of the signings I made. We’re going to start balancing things out, you’ll see.”

“You made some signings? Where was I?”

“In the bathroom again. And, to be honest, I think you might have a problem. You’re either doing drugs in there, which is fine, however I wish you’d share. Or you have one of those flow issues I see on TV all the time. In either case, you should probably see someone.”

“That's funny. Almost as funny as two C- rated shows in a row.”

“Laugh now my little marshmallow, but after my first batch of signings debuts, we’re going to have this conversation again.”

Tyson Baine vs. Chris Caulfield - I don't see any way on earth Vibert books a World title change on free TV.

Ford Memphis vs. Andre Jones - But this one; I can see changing hands. Just not to Andre Jones.

Alexis Lee vs. Belle Bryden

Darryl Devine vs. T-Rex - SQUASH!

As much as Caulfield is Vibert's boy, Baine just brings more (literally) to the table

Ford Memphis vs. Andre Jones

-TV Title Match-

In the world of blands, Ford has the more entertaining gimmick

Alexis Lee vs. Belle Bryden

This aint strip wrestling! ( although I would be fine with that also :D )

This is the kind of win that puts Devine in the upper card

Maybe with the assistance of the attacker from the last show. Maybe not. Baine is, after all, pain.

Ford Memphis vs. Andre Jones

Can't get a handle on how strong either of these guys is being booked. When in doubt, go with the guy who has the belt.

Alexis Lee vs. Belle Bryden

Belle's got way more talent.

Darryl Devine vs. T-Rex

My underestimating-T-Rex streak continues. But really, Devine is Devine. We've all seen him pushed, but that's because he's really good. You can get by with T-Rex in USPW, but Devine is still Devine.

Nicky Champion vs. Ben Williams

Typical squash!

-World Heavyweight Title Match- Tyson Baine vs. Chris Caulfield

Not time for Baine to lose the title yet.

-TV Title Match- Ford Memphis vs. Andre Jones

I'll also go for the champ here.

Alexis Lee vs. Belle Bryden

Alexis Lee has been brought in to do the job.

Darryl Devine vs. T-Rex

Can't believe someone tipped this to be a SQUASH for T-Rex, Vibert has already indicated he is pretty high on Devine. That being said Vibert does seem to be finding a place on the roster for T-Rex as the number 2 monster heel and I see his winning strak continuing but this won't be a squash.

Nicky Champion vs. Ben Williams

This however will be a SQUASH

Better hurry up and predict . . .

Tyson Baine vs. Chris Caulfield

-World Heavyweight Title Match-

Baine won't lose the belt on free TV--plus he's too good as a dominant champ.

Ford Memphis vs. Andre Jones

-TV Title Match-

I'll say Ford retains, I can see the possibility for an upset. The Hillbillies have to cost Ford the belt at some point, right? Probably not yet, though.

Alexis Lee vs. Belle Bryden

Bryden will be kept strong here--she's too good to fall down the women's rankings.

Darryl Devine vs. T-Rex

The monster's streak continues.

Nicky Champion vs. Ben Williams

I'd say Nicky can handle the jobber here.

SD: “That’s Tyson Baine with his hands around the neck of Enygma, fans.”</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

The scene unfolds. Enygma has his back to a guardrail somewhere near the arena’s concession area, which is visible to the side. A few fans get out of the way as Baine leans forward, trying to force Enygma backward over the guardrail.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

SD: “That would be about a twenty foot drop, backward, onto unforgiving concrete!”</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

MS: “I think I just saw the guardrail wobble a little bit. You know these hicks; they never hire union, it’s always some local handyman doing the work. Enygma’s in big trouble.”</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

But the masked man lands a right hand and Baine’s grip loosens. Then he loads up and lands another and looks like he may have turned the tide in his favor. Suddenly though, Baine has his ever present chain wrapped once around his fist and he drops a bomb on Enygma.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

SD: “He’s out on his feet!”</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

The second chain punch spins him halfway around and leaves him leaning over the guardrail, wide-eyed and barely conscious. But when Baine starts wrapping the chain around Enygma’s neck, things hit fever pitch.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

SD: “Oh good god, oh good god, no. Don’t do this! Someone stop this monster! This has gone far enough!”</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

Baine puts his boot into the middle of Enygma’s back and begins pulling the chain, choking him. Enygma grabs at the chain and begins scrambling, really freaking out.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

SD: “He’s going to kill him; Tyson Baine is going to kill Enygma!”</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

Enygma begins gasping. Suddenly, a veritable platoon of police officers descend and begin prying Baine off of the chain. He yells “Baine is Pain!” a few times before laughing and dropping the chain, letting the cops unwrap it from around Enygma’s neck. We close the segment with a tight shot of Baine’s twisted smile and a bit of a sell for tonight’s main event.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

SD: “Tyson Baine will defend the USPW World Heavyweight Championship on tonight’s show in a Philadelphia Rules Hardcore Match against the returning Chris Caulfield.”</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

MS: “It looks like he’s ready, doesn’t it?”</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

<em>Result: There is no denying that Andre Jones has stepped up his game over the past month and a half or so; the response he gets from the fans gets bigger each and every week. But the Television Champion will go to any length to retain his belt and does so on this occasion, gaining the necessary extra leverage on the winning rollup by putting his feet on the middle rope and bailing from the ring as soon as he hears the bell. </em></p><p><em> </em></p><p><em> </em></p><p><em>

Phil’s Story Notes: Jones is still climbing up the ranks; I’m not sure dropping a tainted should-have-won match to the TV Champ does too much to him in fans’ eyes. Phil Vibert stands outside of his limousine talking to someone on his cell phone with his usual self important tone quite evident.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

PV: “I don’t care how you do it, you track down that number and you figure out who owns those stocks. Even though it’s a teeny tiny amount, whoever it is said they’d sell ‘em to me and now they’re not going to. Bad move. You find out who owns that account and get me a name. The intern cowers.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

I: “You told us to let you know when the next match was set to start.”</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

Vibert pulls himself together.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

PV: “Yes, yes I did. Thank you.”</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

The intern nods, feeling safer. But Vibert’s phone starts ringing again, bringing him right back where he was……and he lashes out at the intern.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>Darryl Devine vs. T-Rex</strong></p></div><p></p><p> </p><p>

<em>Result: T-Rex comes in with a lot of fanfare, as most fans (and people, in general) really dislike the brash Devine. But the blonde youngster holds his own in the few brief encounters he has with the massive Rex. He makes good use of his position in the ring, time and time again escaping T-Rex’s attempts at the “Jurassic Crush” (full nelson) by sliding out to the floor or grabbing onto the ropes. At one point while Devine is on the floor, the cameras shoot backstage and again find Chris Caulfield beaten and in a pool of his own blood. It distracts Devine to the point where he almost gets counted out watching the footage. Soon after, Devine takes offense to Baby Jamie putting his hands on him and he shoves him -hard- through the ropes to the floor, leading to a DQ. T-Rex still grabs Devine in the “Jurassic Crush” (full nelson) after the decision, but lets go when DDD is able to poke him in the eye before he gets it locked in tight.</em></p><p><em> </em></p><p><em> </em></p><p><em>

SD: “Looks like the Rex wanted to make Devine scream even though he had already picked up the win.”</em></p><p><em> </em></p><p><em> </em></p><p><em>

MS: “But Devine got out of it, like he always does with everything. He’s a slippery as they come, that guy.”</em></p><p><em> </em></p><p><em> </em></p><p><em>

Phil’s Story Notes: We kept both Devine and T-Rex intact character wise, I think. I will admit, we had a lot going on in this match, with the Caulfield story moving through it, but by increasingly presenting things in this manner, I keep getting the fans more ready to handle my full vision; the full spectrum of the things I’d like to do with this company. </em></p><p><em> </em></p><p><em> </em></p><p><em>

Sam Strong walks into Nicky Champion’s locker room and closes the door behind him. Nicky is sporting a large square bandage on his head from where he took the chairshot from Peter Valentine last week. And before Sam can even get out his first syllable, Champion shoots up out of his seat.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

Smile retracted.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

He gets close and puts his hand on Champion’s shoulder.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

SS: “You’re as much my family as Alicia.”</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

Champion nods.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

SS: “And I’ve known Peter Valentine since you were still in junior high school, haven’t I?”</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

He nods again.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

SS: “Let me talk to him, Nicky. I’ll take care of it, don’t worry; all of it, whatever it is that he can’t deal with, I’ll take care of it. And then……we can just put it behind us and move forward.”</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

Champion takes a second to digest his mentor’s plea before standing and hugging him. Sam tousles his hair.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

But a heartbeat later, Alicia bursts in.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><a href="</p><a href="http://s179.photobucket.com/albums/w286/NoNeck_photo/?action=view&current=AliciaStrong-1.jpg" rel="external nofollow">http://s179.photobucket.com/albums/w286/NoNeck_photo/?action=view&current=AliciaStrong-1.jpg"</a> target="_blank"><img src="<a href="http://i179.photobucket.com/albums/w286/NoNeck_photo/AliciaStrong-1.jpg" rel="external nofollow">http://i179.photobucket.com/albums/w286/NoNeck_photo/AliciaStrong-1.jpg"</a> border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a> </div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

AS: “Nicky! Your truck!”</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

The three sprint up a hallway and then down a side tunnel, coming out into the talent’s parking area where the orange glow is instantly visible; Champion’s oversized pickup truck is on fire. </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

The fire truck that stays outside of the building is already pulling up, sirens wailing, as the fire looks to have been burning for a couple of minutes. </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

Champion is undoubtedly upset, squeezing at handfuls of his short brown hair. But when he turns back from the blaze, his face turns angry.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

NC: “Put it behind me, huh Sam? And who do you think is behind this?”</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

Sam shakes his head.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

SS: “He might not even be here tonight, Nicky. We…..”</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

The fact that Strong will still give Valentine the benefit of the doubt is the last straw for Champion. He throws up his hands and storms off, pushing between Sam and Alicia and heading back into the building. </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

NC: “He’s here. I know he is. I’ll find him myself after my match.”</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>Nicky Champion vs. Ben Williams</strong></p></div><p></p><p> </p><p>

<em>Result: Nicky Champion comes out even more focused than usual and takes the fight right to Ben Williams. The finish is merciful; Champion catches Williams turning around, steps under a meaningless right hand and knocks him out with the “XXX” (superkick).</em></p><p><em> </em></p><p><em> </em></p><p><em>

Phil’s Story Notes: Nicky’s right smack in the middle of it now. His momentum is important to me. Plus, he and Williams make each other look pretty good if I remember correctly.</em></p><p><em> </em></p><p><em> </em></p><p><em>

As soon as the match is over, Sarah Silver hops up from a chair near the ring and climbs through the ropes, waiting a few seconds for the fans to quiet down a bit before sticking the microphone in Champion’s face. He smiles.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

NC: “It sounds like the Nicky Champion fans are loud in Ft. Lauderdale tonight, doesn’t it Sara?”</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

They pop again as she nods; Nicky looks on approvingly.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

NC: “I wonder if anyone else wants to hear from Peter Valentine as bad as I do? Did you set fire to my truck? Show yourself!”</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

The fans boo the mere mention of his name.......</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><a href="</p><a href="http://s179.photobucket.com/albums/w286/NoNeck_photo/?action=view&current=thSamStrong.jpg" rel="external nofollow">http://s179.photobucket.com/albums/w286/NoNeck_photo/?action=view&current=thSamStrong.jpg"</a> target="_blank"><img src="<a href="http://i179.photobucket.com/albums/w286/NoNeck_photo/thSamStrong.jpg" rel="external nofollow">http://i179.photobucket.com/albums/w286/NoNeck_photo/thSamStrong.jpg"</a> border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

.....but do a complete one-eighty and leap out of their seats when the loud guitar solo that begins “Legitimate Patriot” comes pouring out of the speakers, signaling the arrival of the immortal Sam Strong. He makes his way to the ring and walks right up to Champion, patting him on the back and pointing to him as the crowd cheers.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

When they settle down, he asks for another microphone; it’s clear he still wants to talk to his protégé.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

SS: “Brother, listen to me. I understand that you want to get some payback from Valentine, even if he isn't responsible for what just happened to your truck."</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

Champion nods and looks out toward the crowd who approve.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

SS: “But you need to understand that, for the good of USPW, I’m going to need you two to be able to work together.”</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

There are a few boos at that suggestion, but they quickly overwhelmed by the cheers.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

SS: “Let me talk to Peter, dude. I’ll let him know where we’re coming from.”</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

Nicky does not look pleased, but slowly begins nodding, agreeing with his mentor.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

SS: “You just need to trust me and trust in the fact that I can straighten him out. I need you to have your head on straight and your eyes on the prize, brother.”</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

Alicia stands right alongside her father, echoing his motions almost simultaneously.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

SS: “Next week, I’m putting the two of you in a match….”</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

The fans go nutty. They do want to see Champion get his hands on the apparently still in-hiding Valentine.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

SS: “And next week, I’m coming out here to talk to Phil Vibert, man to man.”</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

He looks into the hard camera.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

SS: “I think it’s time we cut through the BS and get around to doing what’s right for this company.”</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

Shawn Doakes and Mickey Starr sell the heck out of the importance of seeing next week’s show from the broadcast location as we transition into the next segment.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

SD: “That’s got to be something big, Mickey. I can’t imagine what Sam might have in mind?”</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

MS: “Maybe he’s finally figured out that, even if he fights it in the courts, he’s going to have to concede defeat at some point anyway. Maybe he’s just going to walk away?”</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

SD: “The Sam Strong I know is a fighter; if he's going down, he'll go down swinging." </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>************</strong></p></div><p></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

We run a montage of the attacks on Chris Caulfield against clips of Tyson Baine’s “Baine is Pain” vignettes. It ends with the music stopping and a slow-mo low cam shot of Baine chokeslamming James Justice off of the USPW American Wrestling stage. Mickey Starr’s voice, from that night, closes it out.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

MS: “He’s a monster, Doakes; Tyson Baine is a bloodthirsty monster.”</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

<em>Result: We have some firsts for USPW American Wrestling after this one including a fist fight using a parked car; it is a hardcore brawl of the highest order. Things go from the ring, up the aisle, into the backstage area, and out into the parking lot before the finish comes. First, Baine whips the already banged up Caulfield into a parked limo and he flies over the hood, landing on his head on the other side. But Baine raises the bar, walking the nearly unconscious hardcore legend out onto the platform of a loading bay and viciously chokeslamming him off of it into a nearby dumpster. </em></p><p><em> </em></p><p><em> </em></p><p><em>

SD: “Caulfield is a warrior; he IS hardcore……but he never had a chance tonight, did he?”</em></p><p><em> </em></p><p><em> </em></p><p><em>

MS: “He came in a beaten man, without question. The demon, Tyson Baine, sent two different men to the emergency room tonight, Doakes; first Enygma and now Chris Caulfield.”</em></p><p><em> </em></p><p><em> </em></p><p><em>

SD: “And the big question now is, will Enygma be able to wrestle two weeks from Sunday in Atlanta at United States of Pain?</em></p><p><em> </em></p><p><em> </em></p><p><em>

Phil’s Story Notes: That Caulfield, still kayfabe hurt from the two attacks- last week and tonight- cannot keep up with Baine even in a match catered to his exact skillset shouldn’t hurt him. The beatings he’s taken combined with Baine’s dominance give him more than enough reason for losing. </em></p><p><em> </em></p><p><em> </em></p><p><em>
