Big Time Wrestling (Golden Age Mod)

No it is not wrong. Hey old people can be dangerous.

That is the truth, I think I have told this story before on here but I think it is a funny story. When I was a kid Hulk Hogan was in a match against Bad News Brown. Anyway, BNB took Hogan down and he stepped out of the ring and got on the microphone.

BNB said something along the lines of, "That's right I took this fool Hulk Hogan down and now I am going to Ghetto Blast Him." At this point an old guy who looked like Frederick Douglass came out of the crowd and started yelling at BNB. Bad News said something to the old man to get him even more pissed off so the old man jumped the guardrail and went after BNB. A bunch of cops had to take him out and he was still trying to fight BNB.

Overall (59)

Show Notes:

I think the shows are getting better and better and the storylines are really beginning to career the promotion.

Kayfabe Information:

I'm just liking this new Buddy Rose more and more. Nothing like putting a great feud together with Rose announcing that he can never have a shot at the NWA Pacific Northwest Heavyweight Belt.

Rick Rude and Archangel was great and could really become something in the future. Matt Borne and Archangel feud is now going into full mode.

House shows are still working, as you see I will put a couple of main guys in the shows but no one really big up the card. S & S Express has the be very disappointing to everyone, as they can not even win the house shows as a team. I can see Eddie Gilbert and Eddie Guerrero as being the biggest draws that will come out of the shows.

I will post the standings of the the 200 prediction prize sometime later today.

Please let me know what you think about the shows.

Thank you for reading.

Main Event: Billy Jack vs John Nord

I don´t really see Billy Jack losing to anyone expect Rose right now.

Match #1: Sheepherders vs The Fantastics (NWA Pacific Northwest Tag Team Bout)

I go with title change this time.

Match #2: Rick Rude vs Ricky Vaughn

Rude seems to be doing well with draw and DQ loss against two guys who are getting a push but I still go with Ricky here as he is higher on the card than Rude´s previous opponents.

Match #3: Ricky Santana vs Thunder

This one is actually quite hard but I go with Thunder as he is getting bigger push from these two right now.

Dark Match #1: Steve Doll vs Carl Styles

Styles jobs again

Dark Match #2: Mike Miller vs Doug Gilbert

jobber

Dark Match #3: Bruise Brothers vs. Scott Putski & Angelo Mosca Jr.

Bruise Brothers continue to pick up wins against lesser guys.

Main Event: Billy Jack vs John Nord

obligatory Army beatdown after the match - Where is Crippler Rip Oliver and his "Carry Out" service? BJ may need to be stretchered out afterward

Match #1: Sheepherders vs The Fantastics (NWA Pacific Northwest Tag Team Bout)

I agree - time for a change

Match #2: Rick Rude vs Ricky Vaughn

Rude needs to get one in the win column. For a while he may only be the gateway to the main event for upcoming face stars, but he he could BE the main event sooner than later

Match #3: Ricky Santana vs Thunder

Santana seems to be lost in the shuffle - a win here could keep him relavent

Dark Match #1: Steve Doll vs Carl Styles

Dark Match #2: Mike Miller vs Doug Gilbert

Dark Patriot Doug could work his way into something. AS DP, could be an interesting tag partner with Col. Debeers. For now, he helps keep Miller from sliding

Dark Match #3: Bruise Brothers vs. Scott Putski & Angelo Mosca Jr.

wow - if this match was Ivan Putski and Angelo Sr, you could have the main event. As is, the sons put over your up and coming brawler duo. With some work and the right amount of chemistry, these four could meet again later with tag team gold on the line.

curious - with your house tours, are these profitable at all, or how much are you losing along the way. some of the matches scoring in the 30's could be solid shows in the home territory - nice to see the War Party finally scoring a few wins.

Well i'm about 75 thousand in the hole for September but the end of the month calculations have not been added yet. So I figure I might break even or lose a slight amount of money. This should improve with more people coming out to these shows.

Overall (61)

Show Notes:

A great show, with a great ending. Rose finally got what was coming to him. Who is the masked man? How will Rose respond? How will the Sheepherders respond to losing the Tag Team belts? Find out next show.

Kayfabe Information:

The main event storyline are about to get really good.

The Fantastics and The Sheepherders feud is going really well right now and now how will the Sheepherders respond. Just watch, this feud is going to get violent.

I’m really like Rick Rude. To carry Vaughn to a decent match is impressive. Rude has not won a match yet but he has really shinned in every match so far. Rude could become one of the future wrestlers of the PNW.

Do you think Madril has a shot at defeating Archangel?

The house shows are still going great, with BC going from 10 to almost 20 in 6 shows, so it is working. Finding some good chemistry between some wrestlers and I think there could be some big wrestlers coming out of this. Dusty Wolfe is doing well, as I think he some of the best matches so far.

Please let me know what you think about the shows.

Thank you for reading.

Ben who?:D I have no clue who the hell Ben Bassarab is and Brady is a jobber. Therefore, this is a rather easy pick for me.

I really have no clue about Bassarab expect he was at Stampede Wrestling and was married to a Hart I believe. I really have no clue what kind of wrestler he was.

Main Event: The Grappler vs Cocoa Somoa

more important in the grand scheme of things.

Match #1: Col. DeBeers vs Ricky Vaughn (NWA Pacific Heavyweight Championship Bout)

if I saw correctly, Vaughn has only 1 win - would think he'd need more exposure and some wins over lesser talents before he carried a title

Match #2: Al Madril vs Archangel

agree with earlier comment that the first real loss will come at conclusion of big feud, In the meantime, he gets the Goldberg treatment

Match #3: Steve Doll vs Ricky Santana

like Doll better and think he can offer a lot - both are more tag team stars - both are capable of carrying singles titles too (and both did in PNW irl,) since Doll won the big title I'll go with him to move up the singles rankings

Dark Match #1: Matt Borne vs Curtis Thompson

Dark Match #2: Carl Styles vs Scott Peterson

Dark Match #3: Bruise Brothers vs. Ben Bassarab & Brady Boone

Bassarab married into the Hart family and won tag titles in Calgary with Owen Hart and Benoit. Had a good feud with the VietCong Express there. solid talent that was passed over when WWF bought out Calgary or he could be more of a household name like the others they brought in. He should do well in the PNW midcards for now, and bound to help with the ventures into Canada. With that said, the Bruise Brothers are on a roll right now and won't be stopped by this makeshift team.

AGPW International Heavyweight - Bulldog Bob Brown defeated Stephen Petitpas for the AGPW International Heavyweight (58 rated match).

PROMOTIONAL NEWS

http://i1091.photobucket.com/albums/i387/thunderwill/Promotions/WWF06.jpg

World Wrestling Federation is on a roll and destroying the wrestling landscape. There September Supercard was one of the best in the world right now, it had Hulk Hogan defeating Jake Roberts to retain the WWF World Championship title (90 rated match). 22,683 fans showed up for that card that did an 80 rating and 3.37 PPV buy rate. WWF did lose three wrestlers during the month. Moondog Rex and Corporal Kirchner have left but the news of Bruno Sammartino was the biggest lost, not so much for where he was on the card but losing a living legend is hard on any promotion. Andre the Giant, Bob Orton Jr., Harley Race, Hulk Hogan, Jake Roberts, Junkyard Dog, King Kong Bundy, Paul Orndorff, Randy Savage and Ricky Steamboat are the main event stars. $58,114,169 is in the bank. WWF is ruling the world and no one can stop them.

http://i1091.photobucket.com/albums/i387/thunderwill/Promotions/JCP.jpg

Jim Crockett Promotions is hanging in there but for how long. The JCP Supercard for September was just as good as WWF’s, as 14,182 fans showed up to see Ric Flair defeat Ron Garvin to retain the NWA World Heavyweight title (90 rated match, yes you read that right). The show did an overall score of 80 and also had a .59 PPV buy rate. Tim Horner, Thunderfoot, Thunderfoot II, George South and Bobby Jaggers had left the promotion. The biggest wrestler leaving was Arn Anderson, who joined AJPW. Barry Windham, Big Bubba Rogers, Dusty Rhodes, Lex Luger, Nikita Koloff, Ric Flair, Animal, Hawk and Tully Blanchard are the main event stars. $3,658,448 is sitting in the bank. JCP is hanging in there but the lack of younger talent could hurt the long term goals of the promotion.

http://i1091.photobucket.com/albums/i387/thunderwill/Promotions/AWA.jpg

American Wrestling Association continues to fall. The AWA Supercard for September did very well (.28 PPV buy rate). 6,304 fans showed up, with Larry Zbysko winning the AWA World Title from Nick Bockwinkle (78 rated match) and overall the show was rated at 75. AWA lost there television show All-Star Wrestling though during the month. Nick Bockwinkel, Cocoa Somoa and Rip Oliver have all left the promotion during the month and with the death of Jimmy Snuka, the AWA is really missing some top talent. Jerry Lawler & Larry Zbysko is the only Main Event talent on the roster. No new wrestlers have been signed by the AWA. Negative $176,874 is in the bank. The death of AWA will be soon.

http://i1091.photobucket.com/albums/i387/thunderwill/Promotions/WCWA.jpg

World Class Wrestling Association is going very well. Labor Day Star Wars was the big event during the month for the WCWA. 5,000 fans showed up to see Kevin Von Erich defeat Abdullah the Butcher to retain the WCWA World Heavyweight title (78 rated match), the overall show did a 71 rating. Texas Championship Wrestling television program being canceled will hurt but the WCWA is still doing well. Lance Von Erich, The Grappler and Nord the Barbarian have left the promotion. Abdullah the Butcher, Al Perez, The Von Erich Brothers, Red River Jack and Tony Atlas are the main event stars. $2,287,725 is in the bank. The money is coming in but the popularity is falling, so who knows with WCWA right now.

http://i1091.photobucket.com/albums/i387/thunderwill/Promotions/UWF1.jpg

Universal Wrestling Federation is still hanging tough but could be on the downside real soon. September Superdome Extravaganza was the big event during the month, as 3,500 fans showed up to the event. One Man Gang defeated Terry Gordy to retain the UWF World Heavyweight title (67 rated match) was the main event and the show did a 62 overall rating. Black Bart left the promotion but the big news was Ted Dibiase leaving. Ted DiBiase was one of the biggest stars of the promotion but he left for Japan. Big Bubba Rogers, Bill Irwin, Buddy Roberts, Chavo Guerrero, Michael Hayes, One Man Gang and Terry Gordy are the main event stars of the promotion. $527,776 is in the bank. UWF is not really making any big moves up or down, as they are just doing enough not to be over whelmed by the WWF juggernaut.

http://i1091.photobucket.com/albums/i387/thunderwill/Promotions/WWA2.jpg

World Wrestling Association is just rolling along unnoticed. The Epidemic of Hate was the big event for the WWA and drew 2,000 fans. Greg Wojokowski defeated Stormy Granzig in the main event (match rated 61) and the show was rated 57 overall. No one left the promotion during the month but no one joined the promotion either. Calypso Jim (Bobo Brazil’s son), Golden Lion, Greg Wojokowski and Scott Rechsteiner (Scott Steiner) are the main event stars of the promotion. WWA has $254,215 sitting in the bank. The WWA is just moving along unnoticed but how long will that last?

http://i1091.photobucket.com/albums/i387/thunderwill/Promotions/CWA2.jpg

Continental Wrestling Association is loved in the southeast but little known outside that area, so they are no real threat to the bigger promotion. Featured Attraction was the big event during the month, as 3,100 fans showed up to Mean Mike Davis & Rocky Johnson defeat Bill Dundee & Jerry Lawler in the main event (match rated 75). The overall event scored a 71 rating. No one left the promotion during the month but no one joined the promotion either. Austin Idol, Bill Dundee, Brickhouse Brown, Jerry Lawler, Jonathan Boyd, Rocky Johnson, Soul Train Jones and Tommy Rich are the main event stars. CWA has $1,108,995 sitting in the bank, as the fans in the southeast are really loving the product. In the southeast CWA is probably king but any where else they are nothing. This is good news for the promotion, as the bigger promotions should not bother them.

http://i1091.photobucket.com/albums/i387/thunderwill/Promotions/CCW2.jpg

Continental Championship Wrestling is just barely hanging on, as they are in a big battle with the CWA to control the southeast. CCW only had one event in September: Aggravated Assault. 1,535 fans showed up to see Buddy Landell defeat Ron Fuller to retain the CCW Heavyweight title (match rated 62) in the main event and the show did a overall rating of 54. CCW local television show Continental Championship Wrestling was cancelled, which really hurt the promotion. Norvell Austin was a big lose for the promotion but they did sign one of the biggest young future wrestlers in the world: Sting. Buddy Landell, Dutch Mantell, Mr. Wrestling II, Ron Fuller and Tennessee Stud are the main event wrestlers. CCW has $210,786 in the bank. CCW will have a hard time with CWA who is putting on better shows but with the signing of Sting, can CCW be on the rebound?

http://i1091.photobucket.com/albums/i387/thunderwill/Promotions/CSW.jpg

Central States Wrestling is the smallest promotion in America, so beyond the central states no one has heard of the CSW. CSW only had one event in September: Urban Decay. 1,500 fans showed up to see Bulldog Bob Brown defeat D.J. Peterson to retain the CSW Heavyweight title (match rated 56) and the overall show did a 54 overall rating. Thunderfoot and The Warlord have left the promotion, while no new talent was signed. Bulldog Bob Brown, Earthquake Ferris, Porkchop Cash and Rufus R. Jones are the main event talent. CSW has $169,646 in the bank. CSW is doing just fine with the small little pond that they are playing in.

http://i1091.photobucket.com/albums/i387/thunderwill/Promotions/ASW2.jpg

All-Star Wrestling in Vancouver, Canada is the biggest wrestling promotion has to offer at this time. The ASW Another Attempt was there big event of the for the promotion in which 228 fans watched Master Sgt. Tomko defeat Mad Dog Rex (match rated 32) to retain the UWA Heavyweight title. The overall show was rated at 35. One of the biggest stars of the ASW John Tenta left the promotion during the month, while no new talents came into the promotion. Master Sgt. Tomko, Moose Morowski, Rick Davis and Timothy Flowers are the main event stars. ASW has $220,858 in the bank. ASW is just in surviving mode but pulling a 35 rated show is going to hurt to overall product of the promotion.

http://i1091.photobucket.com/albums/i387/thunderwill/Promotions/Stampede.jpg

Stampede Wrestling Calgary is right behind the ASW to be the best in Canada. SWC Up in Flames was the promotions big event for September. 1,533 fans showed up to witness Makhan Singh defeat Owen Hart (match rated 62) to retain the Stampede North American Heavyweight title, while the show did a 59 overall rating. Viet Cong Express #1 left the promotion but they quickly signed Dutch Savage to take his place. Bruce Hart, Makhan Singh, Owen Hart and Strangler DiSalvo are the main event stars. SWC has $192,640 in the bank. SWC is climbing up the ranks very quickly and puts on great matches monthly, which is too be expected from SWC.

http://i1091.photobucket.com/albums/i387/thunderwill/Promotions/AGPW.jpg

Atlantic Grand Prix Wrestling is the smallest promotion in Canada. AGPW Paradise City was the big event for September. 1,041 fans watched Stephen Petitpas defeat Leo Burke (match rated 66) to retain the AGPW Heavyweight title and the show did a overall rating of 61. Rick Valentine was the only wrestler to leave the promotion during the month, while no new talent was signed. Bulldog Bob Brown, Leo Burke, Pierre LeBelle, Ron Starr and Stephen Petitpas are the main event stars of the promotion. AGPW has $47,850 in the bank. AGPW is winding down on there summer and fall tour, as they will shut down after November. Will AGPW come back next season?

OTHER NEWS

Carl Ouelett has joined the wrestling ranks and is just waiting for a promotion to take a chance on this young wrestler.

Thunderbolt Patterson and Kenny Jay have retired from wrestling but the biggest news was Lou Thesz has retired from the wrestling business. The wrestling world will miss Thesz has he was truly a living legend.

Probably the biggest news of the month was Jimmy Snuka dying in a car accident. The Oregon State Police has been very quiet about how the accident happened.

Jeff Gaylord was arrested during the month after fighting with a police officer. It is believed drugs or alcohol was involved.

Match Notes The match had an average crowd and decent in-ring action. Col. DeBeers had the match in total control as Ricky Vaughn was able to do very little in the match. DeBeers started yelling with the crowd and even pulled Vaughn up after the count got to two from the referee. The referee got knocked down, when Vaughn missed a clothesline attempt, which DeBeers quickly hit the Piledriver. The Grappler came down to the ring and attacked DeBeers, as DeBeers was trying to revive the referee. The Grapple hit his own Piledriver on DeBeers and pulled Vaughn over the fallen DeBeers. Match Notes The bout had an average heat and good action. Cocoa Somoa and The Grappler put together a nice little match. Somoa tried to use some dirty tricks but just never found that one move to pin The Grappler. The Grappler keep fighting, evening getting a couple of his own two counts. Col. DeBeers came down to the ring and tried to attack The Grappler but hit Cocoa Somoa instead. The Grappler got rid of DeBeers and quickly covered Somoa to get the victory.

Winner by Pinfall.....The Grappler at the 11:56 mark.

(56)

Overall (58)

Show Notes:

That was a good show but I wished the main event was a little better. Now Rose has two people after him, so this is going to get interesting.

Kayfabe Information:

The main event storyline is getting good now.

Zergon picked Ricky Vaughn to win the Pacific Heavyweight title, so I went with the quick change off a fluke win. Now The Grappler and Col. DeBeers is going to start a nice feud, since they both have been really good lately. Vaughn will being starting a feud with another wrestler.

Do you have enough money to acquire the AWA? Because if so... go for it. :p

I have just over $500,000, so I doubt I have enough money to take them over. AWA is now over 300,000 in the hole, the end is near.

Please let me know what you think about the shows.

Thank you for reading.

Main Event: Billy Jack vs Cocoa Somoa

Cocoa gets another main event loss here.

Match #1: The Fantastics vs Rip Oliver & John Nord (NWA Pacific Northwest Tag Team Titles)

Tough opponents for the champs but it´s too early for a change.

Match #2: Ricky Santana vs Thunder

Hard one but Santana won their last encounter so I give this one to Thunder.

Match #3: Steve Doll vs Abbuba Dein

I see Doll as more important guy.

Dark Match #1: Mike Miller vs Don Running Bear

War Party are still jobbers.

Dark Match #2: Al Madril vs Brady Boone

Madril is more important.

Dark Match #3: Bruise Brothers vs. Biff Wellington & Tommy Jammer

Bruise Brother build-up continues.

Main Event: Billy Jack vs Cocoa Somoa

Billy Jack buying some time and upping his status until he gets the match with Rose.

Cocoa takes one on the chin - I think he's still very upset about the death of his best friend Jimmy Snuka. Could see him making the face turn in near future to go after Rose (nice interim feud before the masked guy is ready)

Match #1: The Fantastics vs Rip Oliver & John Nord (NWA Pacific Northwest Tag Team Titles)

good challenge - Nord takes the L

Match #2: Ricky Santana vs Thunder

Ricky needs to offset his loss last week. Thunder will get his wins during tag matches since his partner cant lose. therefore he can afford to put Santana over here

Match #3: Steve Doll vs Abbuba Dein

like the new singles push for the Southern Rocker - should help improve their tag match scores too I hope.

Dark Match #1: Mike Miller vs Don Running Bear

rename: Don "Jobbing" Bear

Dark Match #2: Al Madril vs Brady Boone

Madril also needs a rebound win

Dark Match #3: Bruise Brothers vs. Biff Wellington & Tommy Jammer

squash express continues. Are the Bruises skills or popularity or match ratings seeing some progress yet?

sad to see AWA crumbling in your world, but I can see plenty of cracks from the inside so not all that surprising. The team of Gagne and Condrey is interesting to say the least (wonder what prompted Loverboy Dennis to switch sides?)

enjoy the look at the other leagues too - CCW could hang around a while. They might not rival the Memphis group for over all popularity, but Ron Fuller's group has legions of fans in the Birmingham to Knoxville area. They put on some imaginative shows back in their heyday. Cool seeing Sting make an appearance with them. Several Mid-South legends worked their way thru the area (ala Hotstuff Gilbert, Lord Humongous)

keep up the good work!

Main Event: Buddy Rose vs. Bam Bam Bigelow (NWA Pacific Northwest Heavyweight Title Bout)

while Bigelow would be a new addition to the PNW title history, I also don't think its his time yet. You have 2 big money matches coming for Rose - one with Billy Jack and one with the mystery masked man

Match #1: Ricky Vaughn vs. Bobby Jaggers (NWA Pacific Heavyweight Title Bout)

I like Jaggers better with this title, but fine with giving time to run with the ball for now.

Match #2: Butch Miller vs. Tommy Rogers

DQ, bloody double team beatdown. Maybe a chance to introduce a new Sheepherder? (maybe one of the Canadian guys on the under-roster?) and possibly Tommy gets saved by someone other than his partner to help set up a 6-man match and keep the feud hot/

Match #3: Steve Doll vs. Thunder

both guys on the upswing - think Doll may take more work (since Thunder can always go a squash-a-rama) and also has more upside potential (historically)

Dark Match #1: Mike Miller vs. Scott Peterson

One Souther Rocker wins, one loses. keeps the team in balance?

Dark Match #2: Bruise Brothers vs. Indian War Party

stomp, crush, maim, kill. Love the Bruise Brothers on a rampage

Dark Match #3: Brady Boone vs. Carl Styles

Styles is the War Party of singles matches

as for hidden stars on the house shows - The Gilbert Brothers and 2Cold Scorpio are no brainers. May take a while to build a reputation for themselves in the area but sky's the limit as far as potential. Dark horse - maybe Scott Putski (or Mosca Jr). They are green and lack the overall skills but maybe could be built over time. PNW was often about given that unproven rookie a chance and watching them blossom (ala Scotty The Body). I'd also like to see if you could take one of the lesser known Canadian stars and make them meaningful to us. If you were able to take Bassarab or one of those guys and make him a player in PNW, that would be an accomplishment (he may job for 3 months while he character builds and the right storyline for him to take off comes along) - not sure which but their exploits on the road may shed some light.

as for the masked man - I'll bite on it being one of the recently released AWA guys. Seems to be a good sharing relationship between the 2 areas. My first guess would be the kingpin Bockwinkle, but that could prove to be a very costly matter. For a short term pop and help elevate some guys, it could be a good investment - or sink the ship. Another fun idea would be one of Snuka's old tag team partners like Terry Gordy or Bruiser Brody!!! Talk about a dynamic feud!! Both may think they are too big for you, but both would be short term hires (think they are free lancers who only come for 3 months at a time) I'd buy a ticket right now to see either of them burst on the scene and challenge Rose and to avenge Snuka (heck they might accuse Rose of cutting the brake lines and add to some of the tasteless comments in that storyline -- which by the way I'll be borrowing on liberably in the AWA, all in good fun. anyone reading the obscure references will not understand if they don't follow along here as well, which I'm sure most do anyway)
