The Injury

The injury is really where it all begins right now, isn't it? The month was August in the year 2009. I was working the independent circuit just trying to make a living until I got called up once again to one of the bigger and name promotions. I worked for Rip in MAW. I worked as a curtain-jerker for Tommy and TCW. If you search hard enough you might be able to find my two matches for TCW somewhere on youtube. Maybe, maybe not. But certainly things began to change within my career because of the injury.

I was wrestling a match on the American independent circuit. For some reason they decided to hire those untrained backyard idiots from Xtreme Danger Wrestling. They call those five guys the Quest or something. I was wrestling Kris Turkleton aka Fearless Blue and the match was going alright. I was at least pulling something out of the kid. That's more than I could say that his buddies had done earlier. The match was pretty decent until we got toward the end of the match and he began going into business for himself. We had a finish all planned and set up and he decided that he wanted to go over at the last moment. I was set up top and I leaped for a frog splash but there was nobody home where there was supposed to be someone. My knee came into direct contact with the mat and I heard and felt something snap.

The pain became so great in the next few minutes that I have no idea what happened after that. I have seen it on videotape later on but I cannot recall exactly what happened until I woke up in the hospital. When I woke up in the hospital room, the doctors told me that I tore my ACL. They recommended that I never wrestle again.

So, I'm an idiot. I'm only 24 years old. I do a little bit of rehab on the knee, pop some pain killers and head back on the road. Two matches later and I'm back in the hospital with the same prognosis. So now I cannot wrestle anymore. Wrestling is my life. It's what I live and breathe for. So, I have to decide what happens next.

OOC Note: This is merely the beginning of what I am challenged to become my greatest diary yet. This is not something that will be a fast undertaking like my other diaries have been. Instead, I will be taking my time even with this backstory. Things will move slowly but they will move surely until I reach the true end of the diary, the true end of the game. Welcome back to my vision for United States Pro Wrestling. Welcome back to my home.

I believe I was around September of last year after my wrestling career was finished. That was not a good time for me. I honestly did not know where to go from there. I always considered myself Timothy Hawk: wrestler. Now I was Timothy Hawk: ???. I had to fill in those question marks. I spent a lot of time during the month of September trying to do that. It turns out that 'Will Wrestle For Food' signs don't really work in real life. I did a lot of traveling and living in my car until the money ran out, which was about the middle of September. Then I made a decision that would push my career forward in ways I could have only imagined.</span></p><p><span style="font-family:'CENTURY GOTHIC';"> </span></p><p><span style="font-family:'CENTURY GOTHIC';"> I headed to the Mid Atlantic area with the last of the gas left in my car. I poured my heart out to him about my broken leg and about my wrestling career being shot. He listened to my story and then he offered me a job. I was as shocked as I'm sure you all are now. He said he needed someone to work colour for MAW alongside Marvin Earnest. I jumped at the chance to be able to work for this name company. I explained to him that I was living out of my car which has no gas. He let me sleep on one of the hard mats inside the basement of his house. He even gave me some money for gas, which in 2009 was no small amount of money.</span></p><p><span style="font-family:'CENTURY GOTHIC';"> </span></p><p><span style="font-family:'CENTURY GOTHIC';"> MAW only works one show a month but the wrestlers are always training in the basement of Rip's house, which doubles as my bedroom. So I was always awake in the early morning hours when people came down to train. I did what I could right alongside them. I began giving them tips on their moves and tips on their gimmicks. On the commentary booth, I was a natural, or so I thought, anyway. I enjoyed playing off of 'Marvelous Marv' and I really did enjoy my time spent there for the next several months. Rip and I began working together more and more backstage. How was I to know how deep his friendship would run? How was I to know what he would do for me? But I can tell you this, he is the most giving and caring man I know. Though most do not get to see it. Well, at least, he was familiar to me. I used to watch him all the time when I was a child. He would be on the tv screen talking about defeating all the villains and the power that his fans give to him. Then he would talk about the power of Strongamania. Yes, Sam Strong came into the basement. As with everyone, I'd heard about his friendship with Rip so it shouldn't be too much of a surprise. Though it was. Of course, I agreed, almost too immediately, too eagerly. This went into several nights worth of dinner and conversation about our pasts and about the wrestling industry as a whole. It was good to talk to someone like Sam about these things. </span></p><p><span style="font-family:'CENTURY GOTHIC';"> </span></p><p><span style="font-family:'CENTURY GOTHIC';"> Then the conversation turned to talk of USPW, Sam's company. We got to talking about Shane Sneer and how he runs the book in that company. Then Sam let me in on a little known secret. Shane is looking to drop the head booker position and just manage. That is news that hasn't even hit the internet wire yet. But I have no reason not to believe it. Sam offered to bring me to USPW. Not yet in that whole head booker position but just to be there throughout what is left of the month of December. Rip encouraged me to say yes. How could I refuse?</span></p><p></p></div></div><div></div></blockquote></div><p></p>

The Locker Room

So, I came up with Sam Strong to see my first USPW show from the locker room area. As soon as I entered the locker room, I knew I was in the presence of men who can and have made a difference in this industry. Men who would be forever known, men who would be immortal. Men like Chris Caulfield, Liberty, who goes by James Justice here in USPW, and Enygma who is the USPW World Champion and wears his mask even in the locker room. For just a silent moment or two I stood in awe of these great men. Many of whom I watched on tv over and over again.

Then my sensors turned on. My intuition kicked in. I took a slow look around and looked into the eyes of these men and decided right away in my mind just who would be a problem for me and who I could go to when I needed to. Everyone in and out of the industry has heard the stories of men like Giant Redwood and Sheik Mustafa, both of whom give a negative influence. Of course people have also heard stories about men like Peter Valentine. But Peter was the first man to walk up to me and shake my hand. We had a short talk and he started introducing me to some of the wrestlers.

James Justice and Chris Caulfield seemed to take to me right away. They even had me in awe because they told me they had seen some of my matches. When there are men you respect like this and they talk about matches of yours? Well, it is a great show of respect. People warmed up to me even further when Chris began singing my praises. That is something that really got me initiated into the locker room as Chris is known as a locker room leader.

Of course there are some who barely spoke to me the first few weeks of my presence there in USPW. Giant Redwood and Danny Jillefski tended to spend a lot of time just with each other. Darryl Devine and Seduction spent a lot of the backstage time making out with each other in a dark corner. The few times that Darryl did speak to me, he seemed like he expected a major push since he is a young guy and I'm a young guy. We both have a lot of similarities in talent. But any push he might get in the future will be a slow build, rather than a direct push to the top.

But I can still remembering being introduced to her. Being introduced to Sam's daughter Alicia. She is every bit as beautiful as she is on tv. She also has a charming personality to match. I admit the first time I met her I did what I could to spend time with her, including going over the Women's division. We talked about how her dad made the devision for her to shine. But she didn't want a push because of her name. She wanted to earn her place. That is respectable.

This all leads up to the major event for the month of December: USPW Made In America, the last major event under the reign of Shane Sneer.

USPW Made In America

As many people know, without pay-per-view coverage, these shows are not shown on television until they are in the can. What is done is they are taped as they are shown and then the last television show of the year the matches and highlights are shown.

I was settled within the locker room watching on the monitor for the show alongside Sam Strong. Some of the highlights included:

Peter Valentine defeated Captain USA to retain the USPW National title.

Following this match, The Force came running out for the save when Valentine continued the assault on USA. This reunited the former 2-time USPW World Tag Team Champions The Forces of America.

Raven Robinson defeated Belle Bryden to retain the USPW Women's title.

Andre Jones defeated The Force for the USPW Television Title.

The People's Team defeated C-V-2 (Cameron Vessey and Casey Valentine) to retain the USPW World Tag Team titles.

C-V-2 came up from MAW for a shot at the USPW World Tag Team Titles.

Chris Caulfield defeated Bruce the Giant

This win brought their series to 3-3 in order to determine the #1 contender. Their next match in January at USPW Stars, Stripes And Slams will determine who wins the series and becomes the new top contender.

The Titans defeated Enygma and James Justice

Tyson Baine pinned James Justice in this main event. Because Baine picked up the actual pinfall victory, he gets to decide the match type for his USPW World title match against Enygma at USPW Stars, Stripes And Slams. The end of the show had both Baine and T-Rex join the Sneer Corporation as the other members came out to join them in the ring. Shane Sneer, The Towers of Power and Jumbo Jackson all joined The Titans in the ring to close the show.

Following the ending of the show, Sam and I went into his office. He sat there for a few minutes and stared me down. Then he asked me if I wanted the job as head booker. More importantly, he asked me what I would change if I could change anything in this company. I had to think quickly on my feet with that question. But he obviously liked my answers as many of my policies were implemented.

USPW American Wrestling

Night of The Contenders

#1 Contender Match, Womens Title: Belle Bryden vs. Alicia Strong

Both of these women have strong cases to become the top contender to Raven Robinson's Womens title. Bryden lost to Raven last month in a title match. Can she get back there? Will Alicia Strong step forward as a new contender? And just where oh where is Cherry Bomb?

#1 Contender Match, USPW World Tag Team Titles: The Towers of Power vs. The Forces of America

The Forces of America reunited at USPW Made In America. Can they step forward against a team that has been their archrivals through most of their USPW stay? Or will Shane Sneer and the Sneer Corporation gain another title shot?

USPW Television Title Match: Andre Jones defends vs. Freddie Datsun

Freddie Datsun is one half of the USPW World Tag Team Champions. He gets the opportunity to slide more gold around his waist as he takes on the defending Television Champion Andre Jones. This is Jones' first title defense since winning the title from The Force at Made In America.

#1 Contender Match, USPW National Title: Anger vs. Nicky Champion

Anger is a veteran who has made his name in tag team wrestling. Now he is looking to make a name in singles competition. But his opponent is a man who is the protege of Sam Strong himself: Nicky Champion. Champion is a definite fan favourite. Will Peter Valentine be lurking here?

Darryl Devine vs. Chris Caulfield

Darryl Devine is a man who has been looking for respect here in USPW. Chris Caulfield is in a battle to be the #1 contender to the USPW World Heavyweight title. This is a chance for Devine to find his respect. Or will Caulfield gain some momentum in the run toward the finals of his series with Bruce the Giant.

Non Title Match: Jumbo Jackson vs. Enygma

This is a non title match but it will propel the bodyguard of Shane Sneer high in the rankings if he is able to defeat the USPW World Heavyweight Champion. Enygma has been on less of a roll here since being attacked again and again by his challenger at USPW Stars, Stripes And Slams: Tyson Baine. Can Enygma snag back some momentum?

Tyson Baine vs. James Justice

At USPW Made In America, Baine got the pinfall on Justice in tag team action. Justice will be looking for some revenge here. But T-Rex is always lurking. Will the Jurassic Power become a part of this match?

What match type will Tyson Baine select for his match with Enygma at Stars, Stripes And Slams?

After scoring the pinfall at USPW Made In America, Tyson Baine gets to select the match type for his final USPW World title shot at Stars, Stripes And Slams. What kind of match will he select?

All this and more on the first episode of USPW American Wrestling in 2010.

...Video 1...

http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a226/shawkes/USPW3/PeterValentine_alt.jpg

[As the video right here on USPWrestling.com is clicked upon, a highlight reel begins showing some of the better matches in the career of 'The Chosen One' Peter Valentine. He is shown hitting the Heart Breaker Heart Punch on such wrestlers as James Justice, Java, Tribal Warrior, Jim Force and more as an announcer begins to speak over top of the highlights.]

Announcer

"Peter Valentine has been an active member of USPW's roster since he left TCW in 2006. He faced and defeated some of the top wrestlers in USPW with the feared Heart Punch that he calls the Heart Breaker.

[The video turns to a shot of a swirling USPW National title belt. Then we are taken to the finals of the tournament after the belt was revived.]

Announcer

"In August of 2009, the USPW National title was revived. A tournament was selected as a way to crown a new champion. This tournament culminated in a match where Peter Valentine faced the former USPW National Champion Java. The samoan did everything that he could up against the strength of Peter Valentine but it was not enough. Valentine caught Java with the Heart Breaker and covered him to win the USPW National title. Since winning that title, Valentine has defended the belt against anyone who dares to threaten his new status as The Chosen One, a moniker that he began soon after winning the belt. This week on USPW American Wrestling, a new top contender for this belt will be crowned as Anger steps into the ring to face Nicky Champion. No matter who wins this match, we can definitely rest assured that no one will get the belt from Peter Valentine without a true fight from this American Icon, this Chosen One."

[The video flips to a shot of Peter Valentine standing strong and flexing with the USPW National title belt around his waist. Then comes a slow fade out to black.]

An Update: Just an update for those still looking to predict. The plan right now is to get the first show up on Thursday. So that gives you a couple of days to predict. The show is written up right now but I need to go back through it a few more times.

Thank you to those of you who have predicted already. I've enjoyed those and the comments, including the welcome back comments. They are all very much appreciated.

The First Days

The first day that I stepped into the role of head booker was also the day of a house show that I needed to attend. I headed up to the Great Lakes region for the show but spent a lot of the evening in my office in the back. I would watch a few matches here and there but mostly I spent the time looking at some tapes that were sent my way of wrestlers looking to get into USPW. Apparently, word travels fast in the wrestling business and these audition tapes were sent my way personally. Of course, some of them weren't truly wrestling audition tapes. But, in the interest of being family-friendly, I'll leave it at that.

The next day, Tuesday, I had off from any house show obligations. So that is when I started making some replies to some of the tapes that were sent my way. I used some of the money that I was allowed to use in order to fly certain wrestlers in for an audition match with some of our top stars. The Huntsville Fairgrounds served as home to this as it serves as the home base for USPW American Wrestling. Contract signings would have to be made during the week as my focus turned completely to USPW American Wrestling, my first show at the top, so to speak. I can only hope that the fans enjoy the show as much I enjoy bringing it to them.
