First, I've been reading since start and I think this is my first post. I enjoy the hell out of this time period. I loved the characters and gimmicks from late 80's - early 90's. Love Demolition with the titles, mark out everytime I see a dynasty with them at the top. Looking forward to see how it goes for them and if Crush will come into play. Where is the Jim Powers & Paul Roma love? I may be the only person to ever mark out for Young Stallions, but.. eh. Also, need more jobbing tag teams? Firebreaker Chip (Curtis Thompson) & Todd Champion work out well as face jobbers. I liked them in WCW.. they could work. They actually got over for me by jobbing.

Now on to my picks:

Akeem vs. Shawn Michaels

Can't see Rockers breaking up without maybe a quick title reign.

Rick Martel and Jacques Rougeau vs. Tito Santana and Barry Windham

Windham is fresh face on roster, I can see his push staying true.

NON-TITLE SINGLES MATCH

'Ravishing' Rick Rude vs. Brutus 'The Barber' Beefcake

Can't see Rude losing.

MAIN EVENT NON-TITLE SINGLES MATCH

Hulk Hogan vs. Greg Valentine

Its the Hulkster..

Akeem vs. Shawn Michaels

Solely to put over the Towers as pretty unbeatable in order to push the feud on.

Rick Martel and Jacques Rougeau vs. Tito Santana and Barry Windham

So would this be the Can-Can Connection?

NON-TITLE SINGLES MATCH

'Ravishing' Rick Rude vs. Brutus 'The Barber' Beefcake

Seems a somewhat random match right now... could see it turn into a decent IC title feud later if they have decent chemistry.

MAIN EVENT NON-TITLE SINGLES MATCH

Hulk Hogan vs. Greg Valentine

As was said, Hammer is just out of his league here.

Thanks for reading, man! As for the Young Stallions, they've actually had a few decent matches on Wrestling Challenge, but I don't see them being on a main show anytime soon haha. I've definitely been trying to scout some good jobber teams though. I love this tag team division. I need more teams for the big boys to beat!

Akeem vs. Shawn Michaels

Maybe Jannetty accidentally costs Shawn just as he's about to pull the upset. Cant see why that'd happen only once... perhaps a slow, dramatic Rockers break up is among us.

Rick Martel and Jacques Rougeau vs. Tito Santana and Barry Windham

What happened to Raymond Rougeau? Is he teaming with his mustache now?

NON-TITLE SINGLES MATCH

'Ravishing' Rick Rude vs. Brutus 'The Barber' Beefcake

The champ rolls over The Barber on his way to Survivor Series.

MAIN EVENT NON-TITLE SINGLES MATCH

Hulk Hogan vs. Greg Valentine

I gotta say that Tunney making that 4 on 3 classic elimination match seems VERY realistic to me (though it never actually happened in any way). But given the situation, I think its the perfect option... especially with the heels all pointing fingers at each other. I think something HUGE is gonna happen that night, perhaps the revealing of who it really was which I think at this point is actually none of the above. Really enjoying this thus far.

WWF SUPERSTARS - Week 1, Nov. 1989

- We cut in and see Vince McMahon and Jesse ‘The Body’ Ventura standing on the stage with the ring in the backdrop.

Vince McMahon - Welcome everyone to WWF Superstars! Joining me as always is Jesse ‘The Body’ Ventura, and Jesse, what a spectacular night this should be!

Jesse Ventura - Well we’ve got the WWF Intercontinental Champion, ‘Ravishing’ Rick Rude, in action, as well as the WWF Champion, Hulk Hogan, in a match. It doesn’t get much bigger than that, McMahon!

VM - There’s no doubt about it, Jesse. But we’ve gotta get it down to the ring because our first match of the evening is about to get underway!

Akeem vs. Shawn Michaels

<a href="

http://s1004.photobucket.com/albums/af162/TheBlake/?action=view&current=akeem.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1004.photobucket.com/albums/af162/TheBlake/akeem.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a><a href="http://s1004.photobucket.com/albums/af162/TheBlake/?action=view&current=shawnmichaels6.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1004.photobucket.com/albums/af162/TheBlake/shawnmichaels6.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

Match Notes: A short match, but these two were able to get the crowd in a frenzy, as they went at each other with lots of aggression. Jannetty and Bossman were present on the outside, and the tension was clearly there as these two were more focused on each other than the action inside of the ring. Michaels and Akeem continued to go at each other on the inside, countering each other’s moves, and neither man really gaining a complete advantage. Michaels then threw Akeem off the ropes and went charging at him so hard that the momentum sent both men over the top rope and onto the floor. They both immediately got up and kept battling, and this was all Jannetty and Bossman needed to finally get their hands on each other. They started throwing roundhouse rights at each other as well, and it became clear that Michaels and Akeem were in no hurry to get back into the ring, as referee Dave Hebner counted both men out at ten.

WINNER: Double countout at 5:01 (81)

- After the match, the two teams continued to battle back and forth as officials came running down to get between them and break them up before anyone was injured.

VM - Well Jesse, a very good match turned into an double countout, and an absolute brawl on the outside of the ring!

JV - These two teams don’t like each other one bit, McMahon. And it’s clear that it’s gotten in the way of winning matches. That won’t help them in the tag title race. That’s for sure.

VM - The hatred that these teams have started to show for one another is certainly not good for their focus.

JV - Not at all. But I’ve got full confidence that Slick will get Akeem and Bossman in line.

VM - Maybe so, but the speed and quickness of the Rockers has proved to be the achilles heel for the big men thus far.

JV - Like I said, McMahon, the Slickster will have these guys ready should these four go at it in an actual match soon.

VM - I think everyone would love to see that. Well folks, WWF President Jack Tunney is here tonight and rumors are swirling that there are several topics that he’ll be addressing, with this right here being the first…..

<a href="

<a href="http://s1004.photobucket.com/albums/af162/TheBlake/?action=view&current=jakeroberts5.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1004.photobucket.com/albums/af162/TheBlake/jakeroberts5.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a><a href="http://s1004.photobucket.com/albums/af162/TheBlake/?action=view&current=haku.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1004.photobucket.com/albums/af162/TheBlake/haku.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a><a href="http://s1004.photobucket.com/albums/af162/TheBlake/?action=view&current=thebarbarian.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1004.photobucket.com/albums/af162/TheBlake/thebarbarian.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a><a href="http://s1004.photobucket.com/albums/af162/TheBlake/?action=view&current=honkytonkman.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1004.photobucket.com/albums/af162/TheBlake/honkytonkman.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

- We see a graphic on the screen with the Survivor Series logo and ‘The American Dream’ Dusty Rhodes, Brutus ‘The Barber’ Beefcake, Hacksaw Jim Duggan, and The Mighty Hercules on one side with Jake ‘The Snake’ Roberts, Haku, The Barbarian, and The Honky Tonk Man on the other side. (80)

VM - That’s right ladies and gentlemen, ‘The American Dream’ Dusty Rhodes and Jake ‘The Snake’ Roberts will finally square off inside the ring, but it’ll be in a traditional Survivor Series matchup. What do you think about these teams, Jesse?

JV - Well there’s no doubt that there’s a lot of talent on both sides, but given the psychotic streak that Roberts has been on, he could probably take out the other side by himself. So Haku, The Barbarian, and the returning Honky Tonk Man are just added bonuses in my opinion.

VM - That may be true, but we cannot discount the fire that is burning deep inside The American Dream right now, and I’m sure he’ll have his three teammates ready to go on Thanksgiving night.

JV - He better. Or they might all be sharing an ambulance after the match.

VM - Now c’mon, Jesse. But…..well, hang on a second. It looks like The Brainbusters are making their way down the aisle, with Bobby ’The Brain’ Heenan right beside them. Let’s send it to the ring to see what these two guys are up to!

- The trio make their down the aisle and into the ring, with Heenan holding a mic in hand.

Bobby Heenan - “Hey humanoids…..put down your cheeseburgers and grease fries and listen up…..because the greatest tag team in the wrestling world today has something to say (loud boos).”

Arn Anderson - “That’s right! All of you people out there should get off of your butts and stand up and cheer us! You should cheer us because we saved you from having to watch a complete travesty go down with the World Wrestling Federation Tag Team Titles. Had Tully and I not ran down in the tag match last week, you would have been forced to cheer two complete frauds as your champions. Ya see, there’s a reason why we have the best manager in professional wrestling. We put our heads together and came up with a plan that would not only cost the Hart Foundation the titles, but also get our revenge on those painted freaks, Ax and Smash. That match was a complete joke for one reason and one reason only…..because the Brainbusters weren’t in it! And that’s…..”

- Before Arn can finish his sentence, the crowd goes bananas as we see Bret Hart and Jim Neidhart running out from behind the curtain and down the aisle. They hit the ring and the four men exchange punches as the Brainbusters start off with the upper hand. The Foundation then turn the tide and start gaining an advantage, and Heenan going crazy outside the ring. Before long, a host of WWF officials come running down the aisle and pull the four men apart, with Arn and Tully retreating to the outside. The four men continue to yell at each other when we see Jack Tunney come out from behind the curtain.

Jack Tunney - “Gentlemen, gentlemen. You might want to save some of that energy. It seems to me that there is a lot of unrest right now in the WWF Tag Team division, with several different teams trying to make their claim as the top challengers for the belt. Well, World Wrestling Federation officials and I are discussing the best way to resolve this and determine just who the team is that deserves the next shot at Demolition. Bret, Jim…..I know you two feel that you are obligated to another matchup considering the way that your title match ended last week on Superstars. Unfortunately, contractually, I simply cannot hand you another rematch. But you will be given a chance to earn another match with the tag team champions. But we will talk more about that after Survivor Series. For right now, you four men need to be focusing on the newest match to the Thanksgiving night extravaganza…..which will feature Arn Anderson and Tully Blanchard teaming up with Akeem and Big Bossman to take on Bret Hart, Jim ’The Anvil’ Neidhart, Marty Jannetty, and Shawn Michaels. Good luck to each of your respective teams.”

- Tunney walks behind the curtain as officials continue to stand between both teams, with Heenan trying to calm down the Brainbusters as Hart and Neidhart continue to taunt them on the inside. (75)

VM - Oh my, Jesse! Another huge match added to Survivor Series!

JV - There’s gonna be a lot of bad blood in that one, McMahon. We just saw a little while ago how much the Twin Towers and Rockers wanna go at each other. Now you combine that with these two teams out here? They might need more than one referee for that one!

VM - I would have to agree with you there, as that should be a fantastic match. Perhaps if one of the teams can set themselves apart, they might move up in the discuss that President Jack Tunney is having with WWF officials concerning the top challenger situation.

JV - There’s no doubt about it.

VM - The big question is whether the two teams on each side can co-exist. They all want the same prize and there’s no telling how that could affect what goes down on Thanksgiving night!

JV - You do whatever it takes to get a shot at those titles, McMahon. The difference is that the Towers have Slick and the Brainbusters have Heenan. I think we know whose strategy will be better going into that match.

VM - Well you certainly can’t underestimate the Rockers and the Hart Foundation. That’s for sure. But speaking of tag team matches, we’ve got one coming up right now. Let’s send it to Howard Finkel!

Rick Martel and Jacques Rougeau vs. Tito Santana and Barry Windham

<a href="

http://s1004.photobucket.com/albums/af162/TheBlake/?action=view&current=rickmartel5.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1004.photobucket.com/albums/af162/TheBlake/rickmartel5.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a><a href="http://s1004.photobucket.com/albums/af162/TheBlake/?action=view&current=jacquesrougeau2.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1004.photobucket.com/albums/af162/TheBlake/jacquesrougeau2.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a><a href="http://s1004.photobucket.com/albums/af162/TheBlake/?action=view&current=titosantana4.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1004.photobucket.com/albums/af162/TheBlake/titosantana4.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a><a href="http://s1004.photobucket.com/albums/af162/TheBlake/?action=view&current=barrywindham2.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1004.photobucket.com/albums/af162/TheBlake/barrywindham2.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

Match Notes: Two very different teams here, as Martel and Rougeau took a flashy approach in this one, while the hard-working Santana and Windham tried to use their wrestling ability to pull off a victory. Martel made Rougeau do all of the dirty work, with Martel quickly scurrying out of the ring at any sign of trouble. With Raymond and Missy Hyatt on the outside, it just felt like the odds were stacked against the good guys throughout the match. Late in the match, Windham was starting to gain some momentum on Martel when Santana got distracted by Hyatt on the outside. He stepped off the apron to engage her, while Jacques landed a cheap shot on Windham’s back as he bounced off the ropes to deliver a move to Martel. Windham hit a right on Jacques which fazed him a little, while Martel regrouped and ran over and hit a dropkick to Windham. Martel covered him quickly, and referee Tim White’s vision was blocked from seeing Jacques hold Windham’s feet down as the three was counted.

WINNERS: Rick Martel and Jacques Rougeau at 5:41 (74)

VM - Once again that conniving Rick Martel scores another victory, this time alongside the equally as conniving Jacques Rougeau.

JV - How many times do I have to say it, McMahon? You do what you have to do to win the match. If the referee doesn’t see it, it’s his own fault. Martel and Rougeau did nothing wrong.

VM - Oh they blatantly cheated, Jesse. Everyone could see that!

JV - Not the referee.

VM - Give me a break. Two great wrestlers like Santana and Windham didn’t deserve that.

JV - Now what is this about “deserve?” What does that have to do with anything. Who cares if they deserved it or not. They got it. Congratulations to the winners. Better luck next time for the losers.

VM - Spoken like a true gentleman as usual, Jesse. Well ladies and gentlemen, we’ve already had plenty of things happen tonight concerning the Tag Team division. Mean Gene Okerlund is standing by with the World Wrestling Federation Tag Team Champions, Demolition, to get their thoughts on all of this madness!

- We cut to the back where we see Mean Gene Okerlund, with Ax and Smash to each side of him holding their title belts on their shoulder.

Mean Gene Okerlund - “Ax, Smash, I’d like to get your reactions to what we’ve seen so far here tonight concerning some of the teams that are trying to get the next shot at those titles right there. What do you think about all of this?”

Smash - “Before we get to that, I wanna talk about something else right now Mean Gene! I wanna talk about the Brainbusters interfering in our match last week! Arn, Tully…..you thought you were pretty smart by running in on our match. We’ve heard all the talk and we’ve heard everyone say that the Brainbusters saved our titles. Yeah the Hart Foundation had us on our toes…..but the Brainbusters didn’t save us. No way! Because the Brainbusters are cowards. And they made a big mistake by getting involved in our business again! Arn and Tully…..we beat you for the titles and if you become the top challengers, we’ll beat you again! And if it’s the Hart Foundation, then maybe we’ll be able to give all of these people out there the match that they deserve!”

Ax - “Well Gene, it’s clear that there’s a lot of teams here in the World Wrestling Federation that want a piece of Demolition. And while that’s all well and good, there is one fact that hasn’t changed tonight. And that is that we are the WWF Tag Team champions. So regardless of which team Jack Tunney decides on, we’ll be ready and we’ll beat whoever it is. And that’s all we’ve got to say!” (87)

- We cut back to the ring where Brutus ‘The Barber’ Beefcake is dancing around with his scissors in hand as he awaits his opponent.

‘Ravishing’ Rick Rude vs. Brutus ‘The Barber’ Beefcake

<a href="

http://s1004.photobucket.com/albums/af162/TheBlake/?action=view&current=rickrude2.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1004.photobucket.com/albums/af162/TheBlake/rickrude2.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a><a href="http://s1004.photobucket.com/albums/af162/TheBlake/?action=view&current=brutusbeefcake3.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1004.photobucket.com/albums/af162/TheBlake/brutusbeefcake3.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

Match Notes: A simply outstanding match that had the fans in a frenzy as there were numerous times where they thought Beefcake had the match won. Heenan was ringside and was more arrogant than ever, clearly thinking that Rude would make quick work of Beefcake. But while Rude took the early advantage, Beefcake slowly built up an attack, and had the champ reeling. Rude tried to mount a comeback and went for the Rude Awakening, but somehow, Beefcake wiggled out of it and locked Rude in the Sleeper Hold. Rude started to go down but punched his way out of it. Rude then sent Beefcake into the ropes with an irish whip and Beefcake came off and ducked a clothesline, locking in the Sleeper Hold once again. The crowd was on their feet at this point, as it was clear that they thought they were about to witness a stunning victory for the Barber. Rude went down to a knee and seemed to be going out fast when Heenan hopped up on the apron to try and get into the ring. Referee Dave Hebner went over to make sure that he didn’t intervene, and from out of nowhere, The Barbarian came out from the crowd and picked up the IC Title belt from the timekeeper’s table. Beefcake spotted him and went over to stop him but Barbarian clocked him with the belt before he could do anything. Rude slowly crawled over as Barbarian went back through the crowd and Heenan got down. Rude pulled himself on top of Beefcake…..1...2...3!

WINNER: Rick Rude at 11:30 (99!)

- After the match, Rude nursed his wounds as Heenan climbed inside the ring to congratulate the champ, and Hebner helped Beefcake down the aisle after an impressive effort. As Beefcake went through the curtain, we once again saw Jack Tunney come out from behind the curtain…..

Jack Tunney - “Rick, congratulations on your victory here tonight. However, while the referee did not catch the antics from The Barbarian.....I did. Now, the fact of the matter is, I cannot keep having members of the Heenan Family interfere in important matches here in the World Wrestling Federation. But more importantly, I cannot have Heenan Family members interfering in your upcoming Intercontinental Title defense at Survivor Series against The Ultimate Warrior (crowd cheers). So Rick, that is why I have come to the decision that your match with The Ultimate Warrior will have to be a match where there can be no interference. A match where the two gentlemen inside the ring will decide who deserves to be Intercontinental champion. Therefore ladies and gentlemen, our Intercontinental Title match between ‘Ravishing’ Rick Rude and The Ultimate Warrior will now be held inside of a 15 ft. high steel cage (crowd goes crazy). Thank you, gentlemen.”

- Tunney goes back behind the curtain as Rude throws a huge tantrum in the ring, with Heenan pounding the ropes and hitting turnbuckles. (100)

JV - You’ve gotta be kidding me, McMahon! What does Jack Tunney think he’s doin’!

VM - He’s giving the World Wrestling Federation fans a legitimate title match, Jesse! And not one that the Heenan Family will ruin with their cheap interference!

JV - I don’t like this decision one bit. What’s he got against The Brain?

VM - C’mon, Jesse! The Brain’s henchmen have been interfering in matches all over the place. Look at what they did to our Tag Team Title match last week!

JV - That ain’t got nothing to do with Rude. The man’s the only real champion here in the World Wrestling Federation, and he did nothing wrong. They can’t throw him in inside of the cage with the Warrior. This isn’t the zoom, ya know?

VM - Well I think all the fans out there are very excited about this development. Finally the Warrior can get his hands on Rude without anyone interfering!

JV - It’s just not right, McMahon. Not right at all.

VM - Mark your calendars, folks. Thanksgiving night…..Warrior and Rude in a cage!

JV - Oh calm down. Stop acting all giddy.

VM - I’m excited about the match, Jesse! And I’m also excited about our main event of the evening, as another champion is in action…..it’s time for the WWF champion…..it’s time for Hulkamania!

Hulk Hogan vs. Greg Valentine

<a href="

http://s1004.photobucket.com/albums/af162/TheBlake/?action=view&current=hulkhogan5.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1004.photobucket.com/albums/af162/TheBlake/hulkhogan5.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a><a href="http://s1004.photobucket.com/albums/af162/TheBlake/?action=view&current=gregvalentine.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1004.photobucket.com/albums/af162/TheBlake/gregvalentine.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

Match Notes: Although the Hammer gave it his all in this match, it was clear from the very beginning that the Hulkster was in a foul mood was gonna take care of business. Hogan started off with a flurry of attacks and sent Hammer to the outside very quickly into the match. But Valentine would get a few counters in and would actually take control of the match for a few minutes, trying to wear down Hogan with a series of armbars and headlocks. Hogan would eventually gain his momentum back though, and started to hulk up after he broke out of the Hammer’s grasp. Hammer tried to go at him with all that he had, but Hogan blocked everything, and hit the Big Boot for bouncing off the ropes for the Leg Drop before covering Hammer for the win.

WINNER: Hulk Hogan at 7:01 (77)

- After the match, Hogan posed for the crowd, which really had them fired up. After a minute or so of posing, this man slowly started making his way down the aisle…..

- Savage stopped about halfway down the aisle, as Hogan finally turned his attention to him and was clearly ready for a fight. But Savage just stood there with a blank stare on his face, with Hogan urging him to come into the ring to face him. After staring him down for a little bit, Savage turned around and went back behind the curtain, with Hogan looking somewhat confused as he continued his posing for the crowd. (100)

VM - What do you think that was all about, Jesse?

JV - I don’t know, McMahon. But I can tell you this, if that had been Perfect or DiBiase, Hogan would have gotten taken out right then and there. Savage should have capitalized on a great opportunity to wear down the Hulkster before Survivor Series.

VM - Well Savage has said in trying to prove his innocence that he’s a man that settles his score in the ring.

JV - He could have done that right there.

VM - I’m talking about in a sanctioned match, Jesse.

JV - Like I said, had Perfect or DiBiase been here tonight, they woulda took the champ out in that very ring. They probably aren’t gonna be too happy with the Macho Man,

VM - We’ll see about that. But thanks for joining us everyone on this blockbuster edition of Superstars!

SHOW RATING: 84 (a 99 from Rude and Beefcake?!)

Al Perez vs. 'The American Dream' Dusty Rhodes

-Perez has zero chance in this one.

Jacques Rougeau vs. Barry Windham

-Hard pick, went with Windham only because i see Martel and himself feuding it out a little more.

The Barbarian and Haku vs. The Bushwhackers

-Haku and Barbarian need a push going into Survivor Series.

Arn Anderson vs. Bret Hart

-Another tough call, flipped a coin and it landed for Bret.

MAIN EVENT SINGLES MATCH

Million Dollar Man vs. Brutus 'The Barber' Beefcake

-99 match rating with Rude or not, there is no way Brutus deserves to go over Ted.

Man, I tried to think outside the box on my Superstars predictions and completely botched it. Good thing Hulkster was on the card! BTW, I thought Tito had a little feud going with HTM on the B shows. Not that it matters, I just figured he'd be on Martel's team and someone else would be plugged in with the heels. Still having a blast tho!</p>

Squash Match for The Dream</p><p> </p><p>

Jacques Rougeau vs. <strong>Barry Windham</strong></p><p>

I'm still backing Windham.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>The Barbarian and Haku</strong> vs. The Bushwhackers</p><p>

As much as I like the Bushwackers, I see them getting beat up badly.</p><p> </p><p>

Arn Anderson vs. <strong>Bret Hart</strong></p><p>

Hardest match for me to decide, but I think The Hitman will pull it out or it may go to double DQ or double countout.</p><p> </p><p>

MAIN EVENT SINGLES MATCH</p><p>

<strong>Million Dollar Man</strong> vs. Brutus 'The Barber' Beefcake</p><p>

Easy pick.</p>
