WWF 1989: Kayfabe Returns

Recommended Posts

Well, I totally ****ed the main event up. Great show as always and a great dynasty since the very start, I'm highly enjoying this. Keep up the good work.

Appreciate it as always, man! I'm excited at the way the show turned out and already have my Royal Rumble (and WrestleMania, for that matter) plans in place. The feedback from you guys makes this even more enjoyable to write. Thanks again!

Great show. Everything flowed and made sense. I could have done a little better but I got 3 match results right at least.

Thanks man! I actually thought it would be harder to write these elimination-style matches, but once it started flowing, it was really a lot of fun. And a HUGE thanks for the DOTM nomination!

Heh! That was fun. Don't quite understand how I could've missed it but it seems so obvious now that Jake was the one behind it! That's good writing if you ask me!

Fascinated to see where you go with the Suspects team now though and whether any of them were a 'higher power' (i.e. big Ted!)

Appreciate the nice words, Ritchardo! He was my choice all along, so it's been fun to build up that character and story. I've got some excited things planned so hopefully you'll enjoy it!

Also everyone, predictions update should be up a little later on.

Wow, I kinda sucked on predictions here. Nothing I disliked at all though, because even on matches I called wrong (Martel, Brainbusters) I liked the results (Windham, Rockers). Good booking on the cage match, shows that Heenan isn't the only brain amongst the Family. I actually had started thinking throughout the show about Jake and Hogan, though admittedly not in that way. I was thinking during the DDT to Dusty that it would be such a Jesse Ventura line if he'd have said that "Since nothing's being done to Hogan, Jack Tunney turns a blind eye". But I guess I'd thought too soon, because now it's all crashing down on Hulkamania! Go Snake man!

Kinda surprised you did go with this feud so soon though, I thought it could've been saved for Mania. Makes me really curious as to where you're going for WrestleMania 6. Please no Zeus!

Btw, where's the No Holds Barred ppv? ;)

<p>Hey man, great show!! I was totally caught off guard on multiple occassions. Gotta say, I loved the opening match finish with Martel celebrating his cheap elimination on Santana... then Windham doing the exact same to him minus the handful of tights. lol seems sooo realistic and true to the era.</p><p> </p><p>

Jake's involvement on this entire card (and for the last few months) was written up brilliantly. I cant wait to see where it goes from here.</p><p> </p><p>

The tag team division you have in 1989 is outrageous dude. To me, this is the Golden Age of tag team wrestling. For some reason, I didnt think the Rockers would come out looking the strongest though... but I'm glad they did. You've also introduced us to the Superkick quite early, which is also pretty freakin' cool. On a sidenote: You've officially inspired me to start a WWF '89 game.</p><p> </p><p>

Rude retaining I think was the right move. Really wondering where each man goes from here. Especially Warrior, I hope he's not on his way out. I love that guy. lol</p><p> </p><p>

The main event was extremely well done as well. I'm a little shocked however that DiBiase was the sole survivor, but with the Perfect/Savage brawl... I guess it makes sense in the end. Also, Perfect/Savage should be epic <img alt=":D" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/biggrin.png.929299b4c121f473b0026f3d6e74d189.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p>

All in all AWESOME show! You're really doing this era total justice. Keep on rockin my friend.</p>

This makes me feel like that I'm at least doing something right and that people are genuinely interested in the stories haha.</p><p> </p><p> On the tag team front, you are absolutely right about this tag division. It's overwhelming sometimes trying to give all these guys time. I hate not using the Rougeaus as much.....but look at the talent in front of them! That's one of the reasons why I broke up the Powers of Pain. It's impossible to get all of these guys equal time. I was hesitant on the Superkick, but this had a "big moment" feel to it, so I decided to bring it out.</p><p> </p><p> And thanks for the compliments on the two big matches. Loved the way Rude/Warrior and the main event turned out. Big things ahead on both fronts and now it's time to start making the push towards the Royal Rumble!</p><p> </p><p> Have fun with the new 1989 game! I never realized how much I loved this era until I started writing this (which has led to me spend money on old school wrestling DVDs like the early WrestleMania's and Summerslams), and it's easily the most fun I've ever had with one specific TEW game.</p>

The Survivor Series contest ends with a three-way tie at the top! I will think of a tiebreaker that will probably involve the next show or two. I know the predictions were somewhat challenging given the numerous possible outcomes of each elimination match, but it seems like you guys enjoyed it. I'll probably start adding bonus picks to the Saturday Night's Main Event cards as well. Oh, and a huge thanks for all the predictions and feedback! Card for Superstars should be up later on.</p>

From the offices of the World Wrestling Federation:

SCHEDULED CARD FOR WWF SUPERSTARS

Card subject to change

Jacques Rougeau vs. Brutus 'The Barber' Beefcake

Al Perez vs. Hacksaw Jim Duggan

Greg 'The Hammer' Valentine vs. Barry Windham

MAIN EVENT SINGLES MATCH

'The Model' Rick Martel vs. Shawn Michaels

For Zergon, JudgeJuryExecutioner, and DarthXaos

Main Event Match Rating:

(closest to the actual number wins the Survivor Series tiebreaker.....however, if no one is within five points of the actual rating, we move to another tiebreaker on Prime Time :D)

- Plus, the fallout from Survivor Series, as President Jack Tunney will be on hand to announce the championship committee's decision on determining the top challengers for the WWF Tag Team Titles. Also, the Million Dollar Man has requested some time to speak about his victory following the shocking conclusion to the Survivor Series main event!

Let the predictions begin! Also, for the three guys involved in the tiebreaker.....that's the best I could come up with haha. Anyways, show should be up Wednesday.

Jacques Rougeau vs. Brutus 'The Barber' Beefcake

Hey, a match that Brutus can actually win.

Al Perez vs. Hacksaw Jim Duggan

Perez seems to be just another jobber.

Greg 'The Hammer' Valentine vs. Barry Windham

Windham seems to be higher on the ladders.

MAIN EVENT SINGLES MATCH

'The Model' Rick Martel vs. Shawn Michaels

Michaels is still tag guy so Martel could use the win more so I go with Martel winning likely via interference from one of the tag teams that Rockers are fighting.

For Zergon, JudgeJuryExecutioner, and DarthXaos

Main Event Match Rating: I always suck at these but lets say 74

Dang, I did bad. Oh well..

Jacques Rougeau vs. Brutus 'The Barber' Beefcake

Jacques isn't a single guy just yet so I can see him taking the lose here.

Al Perez vs. Hacksaw Jim Duggan

Duggan beats Jobber.

Greg 'The Hammer' Valentine vs. Barry Windham

I'm a mark for Valentine, but Windham will roll following being the sole survivor for his team.

MAIN EVENT SINGLES MATCH

'The Model' Rick Martel vs. Shawn Michaels

Along the same lines as Jacques. Michaels will lose a good match-up to The Model..

Jacques Rougeau vs. Brutus 'The Barber' Beefcake

Al Perez vs. Hacksaw Jim Duggan

Jobbers to the jobbers to the stars.

Greg 'The Hammer' Valentine vs. Barry Windham

Y'know in thinking on it, it feels like I did something good, because both Windham and Martel are guys I toldja I would love to see become something, and so you give them a fairly decent profile feud against one another. This thought makes me smile.

MAIN EVENT SINGLES MATCH

'The Model' Rick Martel vs. Shawn Michaels

Something tells me that you're not far from pulling the trigger on either a title run or a breakup for the Rockers, and I'm hoping its a title run because I think they really should just stay together for a little while yet.

Jacques Rougeau vs. Brutus 'The Barber' Beefcake

With a little help from brother Raymond...

Al Perez vs. Hacksaw Jim Duggan

Squash

Greg 'The Hammer' Valentine vs. Barry Windham

Glorified squash. The Hammer is a great worker but I think by 1989 he's going to be used to profile others. He and Windham are set to have a good fight though.

MAIN EVENT SINGLES MATCH

'The Model' Rick Martel vs. Shawn Michaels

With a little help from both of those pesky Rougeaus... I'm calling it that both Jacques and Shawn's matches are qualifiers to see who should get a shot at the Demos. Rougeaus cheat to get the shot and start a mini-feud with The Rockers.

Jacques Rougeau vs. Brutus 'The Barber' Beefcake

I wanna say Beefcake gets the rub here, just because he's been putting out such high rated matches.

Al Perez vs. Hacksaw Jim Duggan

Squash.

Greg 'The Hammer' Valentine vs. Barry Windham

Windham has a little more going for him at the moment.

MAIN EVENT SINGLES MATCH

'The Model' Rick Martel vs. Shawn Michaels

Tough one... but going with The Model here to pick up the cheap win. Perhaps a Rockers miscue is in store. lol eventually I will be right.

For Zergon, JudgeJuryExecutioner, and DarthXaos

Main Event Match Rating: 76

Yeah I'm no good at this either... but I have a feeling its gonna be mid to late 70s or so.

Jacques Rougeau vs. Brutus 'The Barber' Beefcake

-Really wanted to go with Jacques here but have a nagging thought that Brutus is taking this one.

Al Perez vs. Hacksaw Jim Duggan

-Given the fall out from Survivor Series i nearly picked Perez due to interference from Hercules, however i don't see Perez doing much in the long run so Duggan it is.

Greg 'The Hammer' Valentine vs. Barry Windham

-Love the Hammer but Windham has more going for him at this stage.

MAIN EVENT SINGLES MATCH

'The Model' Rick Martel vs. Shawn Michaels

-Martel by his usual cheap tactics.

WWF SUPERSTARS - Week 3, Nov. 1989

- We cut in to see Vince McMahon and Jesse ‘The Body’ Ventura standing on the stage with the ring in the backdrop.

Vince McMahon - Welcome everyone to WWF Superstars! And Jesse, we might as well get right to the big situation at hand, and that’s the shocking turn of events that took place at the conclusion of Survivor Series last night.

Jesse Ventura - That’s right, McMahon. It’s what everyone is talking about around the world today, and that’s the admission by the resident maniac here in the World Wrestling Federation, Jake’The Snake’ Roberts, that he was the one that attacked Hulk Hogan in that parking lot!

VM - But that’s not all he did, Jesse. Roberts cost ‘The Hulkamaniacs’ their Survivor Series match against ‘The Suspects’ and…..

JV - Now wait a minute, McMahon. There’s no need to label them ‘The Suspects’ anymore, because just like I thought all along, none of those three did it!

VM - My mistake there. But it was Roberts who cost Hogan the match, and ladies and gentlemen, if you missed the huge event, we will indeed have video footage of the despicable act by Roberts later on tonight.

JV - Everyone needs to see that. The way I see it, McMahon, the World Wrestling Federation is officially in danger now that Roberts has set his sights on the champ.

VM - We might be facing the most uncertainty in the history of the WWF, because Jesse, I shutter to think of what might happen if Roberts…..I’m not even sure how to say this…..ends Hulkamania.

JV - Well if he continues on this path, it might not only be the end of Hogan but the end of the World Wrestling Federation as we know it. Could you imagine that guy as the world champion? But speaking of champion. McMahon. How about the Intercontinental Champion, ‘Ravishing’ Rick Rude, retaining his title against the Warrior? Let’s talk about that!

VM - I had a feeling you’d want to talk about that. But we’ve gotta get to our first match of the evening!

Jacques Rougeau vs. Brutus ‘The Barber’ Beefcake

<a href="

http://s1004.photobucket.com/albums/af162/TheBlake/?action=view&current=jacquesrougeau2.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1004.photobucket.com/albums/af162/TheBlake/jacquesrougeau2.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a><a href="http://s1004.photobucket.com/albums/af162/TheBlake/?action=view&current=brutusbeefcake3.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1004.photobucket.com/albums/af162/TheBlake/brutusbeefcake3.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

Match Notes: Not much going on in this match, although the fans were clearly behind the Barber and clearly angry at the sight of the Rougeaus. Raymond was trying to pull a few tricks on the outside, but Barber grabbed the scissors and went after him, and Raymond went running up the aisle in a hurry. Jimmy Hart then started yelling at Beefcake, and Beefcake chased him and went him up the aisle as well. Jacques then went after Beefcake as he got back in the ring, but after a few moves, the Barber gained the advantage back and kept it for the rest of the match. Raymond and Jimmy Hart kept trying to sneak their way back down to ringside, but Barber went to grab the scissors each time, sending him scurrying back. In complete control of the match, Beefcake locked on the sleeper and Jacques couldn’t keep the arm up at three.

WINNER: Brutus Beefcake at 5:04 (50?!)

VM - A great victory for the Barber, as he managed to keep those two cheaters away from the ring!

JV - Now who are you calling cheaters, McMahon? Raymond ad Jimmy Hart didn’t do nothing wrong. What’s really wrong is that we’ve got a grown man running around with a pair of oversized scissors trying to cut people’s hair!

VM - Oh c’mon, Jesse! He’s the Barber!

JV - Oh yeah? How many barber’s you know that have hair like that? Or have a shop inside a wrestling ring for that matter.

VM - Just settle down, Jesse. We’ve got more important issues to talk about, and that’s concerning the Million Dollar Man, who ladies and gentlemen, we have received word will be here tonight to address the fans in the World Wrestling Federation…..and President Jack Tunney. What do you think that’s all about, Jesse?

JV - He’s probably here to tell boast about pinning the World Wrestling Federation champion last night in the middle of the ring. I’d do the same thing!

VM - Oh give me a break! You know as well as I do that the only reason DiBiase got the pin was because of that snake, Jake Roberts!

JV - I guess you could make all the assumptions that you want, McMahon, but the fact is, DiBiase pinned Hogan, 1-2-3. That’s a fact.

VM - I’m not denying that, Jesse, but…..

JV - Yes you are.

VM - Well that’s your opinion. Let’s send it to Howard Finkel for our next match!

Al Perez vs. Hacksaw Jim Duggan

<a href="http://s1004.photobucket.com/albums/af162/TheBlake/?action=view&current=alperez.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1004.photobucket.com/albums/af162/TheBlake/alperez.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a><a href="http://s1004.photobucket.com/albums/af162/TheBlake/?action=view&current=jimduggan3.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1004.photobucket.com/albums/af162/TheBlake/jimduggan3.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

Match Notes: Perez got off to an aggressive start, trying to take Duggan out early. But that didn’t work, as Duggan was obviously in a foul mood following the events at Survivor Series. After Perez got a little bit going, Duggan began blocking everything, and catching Perez when he tried a crossbody, Duggan slammed him and then charged at him with the shoulder block to score the pinfall.

WINNER: Hacksaw Jim Duggan at 5:18 (56)

<a href="http://s1004.photobucket.com/albums/af162/TheBlake/?action=view&current=hercules2.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1004.photobucket.com/albums/af162/TheBlake/hercules2.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

- After the match, Duggan grabbed his 2x4 and began celebrating in the ring when from out of nowhere, Hercules slid into the ring and hit Hacksaw from behind. Duggan dropped the 2x4, and Hercules started hitting Duggan with his steel chain. With Duggan down and out on the mat, Hercules picked up the 2x4 and spit on it, before throwing it down on the mat. (61)

JV - Now that’s the Hercules I’ve been waiting to see for years now, McMahon! He got soft on there for a little while, but that’s the kind of intensity that will you get you to the top in the World Wrestling Federation!

VM - That was a blatant attack from behind, Jesse. What, do you want everyone to be like Jake ‘The Snake’ Roberts around here now? Is that what you want?

JV - I’m not saying that at all. I’m just saying that it’s nice to see Hercules be a man again and make Duggan pay for costing him a potential victory at Survivor Series last night. Although perhaps the Snake roughing him up a little bit this past month or two set off a fire in him.

VM - Well even though Hacksaw accidentally hit him with the 2x4 last night, this is uncalled for!

JV - Don’t get into your right and wrong stuff, McMahon. It’s not about that. It’s about showing someone that you won’t take something like that. Accident or not, Hercules is mad, and I like it.

VM - I can’t believe you’re condoning this type of action, Jesse. I really can’t!

JV - I could care less what you think, McMahon. Bravo, Hercules!

VM - Ladies and gentlemen, let’s send it to Mean Gene Okerlund who is standing by with the Rockers!

- We cut to the back where we see Marty Jannetty patting Shawn Michaels on the back, as Mean Gene stands beside them.

Mean Gene Okerlund - “Shawn Michaels, last night at Madison Square Garden in the tag team elimination match, you were the sole survivor after a fantastic performance. Do you think last night’s result will impact President Jack Tunney’s decision in determining who the top challengers are for the WWF Tag Team champions, Demolition?

Shawn Michaels - “Well Mean Gene, I’m not sure what else we have to do to prove that we are the top tag team in the World Wrestling Federation. All four of the teams were represented last night at Survivor Series, and who came out on top? I did. The Rockers did. So it seems pretty straightforward to….."

- Before Michaels can finish his sentence, Jack Tunney walks into the picture.

MGO - “President Jack Tunney! We were just discussing the top challengers situation for the Tag Team Titles. Now you said you would address this situation following Survivor Series. Are you prepared to do that here tonight?”

Jack Tunney - “Gene, I am. Shawn, although your performance last night was admirable and certainly caught our eye, it is the team aspect of this whole situation that we are looking at. Unfortunately, your partner was the first man to be eliminated in the match, so I’m not sure how we can judge the team as a whole from that. Keep in mind that this was simple a showcase, not a true top challengers match. So, after much deliberation with the championship committee, we have come to the conclusion that we think will best help us find the top challengers for Demolition at the Royal Rumble. Gene, given what all has gone on in the tag team division in recent weeks, we have decided that there are two tag team matches the WWF fans want to see. They want to see the Hart Foundation against the Brainbusters and they want to see the Rockers against the Twin Towers. Therefore, next week right here on Superstars, Shawn Michaels, Marty Jannetty, you will get your match against the Twin Towers. The following week on Superstars, the Hart Foundation will meet the Brainbusters. Now, the winners of those two matches will meet each other at Saturday Night’s Main Event in a few weeks to determine who indeed is the top challengers for the World Wrestling Federation Tag Team Titles. Thank you Gene, and Shawn, Marty, good luck in your match next week.”

- Tunney walks off as Michaels and Jannetty look more focused.

MGO - “Gentlemen, would you like to comment on President Jack Tunney’s huge announcement?”

SM - “Akeem, Bossman…..you better get ready for the fight of your lives. And Rick Martel, I‘m not happy right now. Which means I‘m gonna take all my frustration out on you tonight in the main event!”

- The Rockers walk off in an angry manner. (84)

VM - What a blockbuster announcement here tonight by Jack Tunney, as we’ve got two huge tag team matches scheduled for the next two weeks here on Superstars!

- We see a graphic showing the four teams and the dates for the two big matchups. (78)

JV - I can’t believe it, McMahon, but I actually applaud the job done here by Jack Tunney and the championship committee. These teams don’t like each other one bit, so why not let them go at it, and the winners meet for a shot at Demolition.

VM - I figured you’d have something to say about this not being fair to the Brainbusters. I’m shocked.

JV - Well Arn and Tully are clearly the top challengers in my opinion, but there’s nothing wrong with this idea. They’ll just win two matches, and then they’ll get their revenge on the champs.

VM - You seem pretty confident, Jesse. But let’s not forget that they have to get through the Hart Foundation first, who still feel they would be the champions right now if it wasn’t for the Brainbusters.

JV - It doesn’t matter what they feel. They aren’t the champions and they aren’t gonna be. It’s as simple as that.

VM - They’ve as good a shot as the other three teams. But let’s go back down to ringside for our next contest!

Greg Valentine vs. Barry Windham

<a href="

http://s1004.photobucket.com/albums/af162/TheBlake/?action=view&current=gregvalentine.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1004.photobucket.com/albums/af162/TheBlake/gregvalentine.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a><a href="http://s1004.photobucket.com/albums/af162/TheBlake/?action=view&current=barrywindham2.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1004.photobucket.com/albums/af162/TheBlake/barrywindham2.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

Match Notes: A good match featuring two hard-nosed competitors. Valentine gained the upper hand early on, seemingly catching Windham off-guard with a rather powerful offensive attack. After Valentine had him in a headlock, the crowd started to stomp their feet and get behind Windham, who used the emotion from the crowd to start gain some energy and break out of the hold, sending Valentine off the ropes and hitting a big clothesline on him. Valentine bounced up to his feet, and Windham hit a huge superplex on him. Windham then ran to the opposite corner as he waited for Valentine to slowly make his way to his feet, and with the crowd still going bananas, Windham ran at the opposite facing Valentine, and hit the Running Bulldog for the 1-2-3.

WINNER: Barry Windham at 5:58 (74)

VM - Chalk up another victory for Barry Windham here in the World Wrestling Federation!

JV - Oh settle down, McMahon. He got lucky last night at Survivor Series and he got lucky again tonight.

VM - How exactly was he lucky last night? He was the sole survivor in a great Survivor Series matchup, which saw him pin ‘The Model’ Rick Martel to finally get his payback on him.

JV - Yeah but he still hasn’t beaten Martel in a 1-on-1 match, and I don’t see that happening anytime soon.

VM - Although it wasn’t a 1-on-1 contest, he did pin him last night, so I’d say Windham’s confidence will be riding high if he does indeed get another shot at Martel.

JV - Confidence don’t win you matches, McMahon. Beating your opponent to the point that they have to submit or can’t kick out of a three count does.

VM - I can’t argue your last point, Jesse, but speaking of The Model, he’s in our main event here tonight against Shawn Michaels, and that match is coming up a little later on. But right now, we…..

- The Million Dollar Man’s music hits, and out comes DiBiase with a huge smile on his face as he makes his way down to the ring.

VM - Well right now it looks like we’re gonna go down to the ring to hear what the Million Dollar Man has to say!

Million Dollar Man - “Well, well, well. I’ve got only one question to ask of you people out there: How does it feel, huh? How does it feel to have your stupidity handed to you on a silver platter, huh? All I heard for months was “the Million Dollar Man was the one that attacked Hulk Hogan.” And what do you know? Just like I said all along, I was not the man that attacked Hogan! Time and time I again, I professed my innocence to all of you. But yet you wouldn‘t believe it. Well now you‘ve got no choice to believe it! Because last night at Survivor Series, you people saw two things. You saw the man who attacked Hulk Hogan…..and you saw the Million Dollar Man pin the World Wrestling Federation champion! It was me and Hogan left in that ring, and I pinned him! How do you like that?! HAHAHAHAHAHA! Now the way I see it, there is no one else in the WWF that has beaten Hogan in the middle of this ring like I did last night. Of course, I wouldn‘t expect Jack Tunney to walk out here and name me the top challenger for the WWF Title, because well, Tunney was just as ignorant as you people when it came to finding Hogan‘s attacker. But I want all of you to listen to me real well…..that World Wrestling Federation Title will be mine! And there‘s nothing that anyone can do about it! Because everybody‘s got a price for the Million Dollar Man! HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!”

- DiBiase walks over and hands the mic to Howard Finkel, and continues to smile from ear to ear as he taunts a few of the fans in the front row with his money. (92)

VM - A very confident Million Dollar Man out here tonight, Jesse, as he certainly didn’t hesitate to tell everyone how wrong they were in suspecting him as the attacker!

JV - I thought that was why he was here, McMahon. Because when you pin the world champion, you can do pretty much whatever you want for a while. He didn’t have to be here tonight. But I’m glad to see him put you and everybody else in their place for blaming an innocent man. Shame on you, McMahon!

VM - I’m sure not gonna apologize if that’s what you’re looking for. We had plenty of reason to suspect DiBiase after he tried to run down Hogan with that car the week before the attack!

JV - But did he hit him with the car? No he didn’t. And was he the one that attacked Hogan? No he wasn’t. So let’s everyone get off the Million Dollar Man’s back for a while. The man pinned the world champion in the middle of the ring! He’s on top of the world!

VM - Oh would you stop gushing! But anyways, enough about the Million Dollar Man for now. Let’s get to two important interviews coming up on Prime Time next week, as ladies and gentlemen, we will indeed hear from the Intercontinental champion, ‘Ravishing’ Rick Rude, concerning his big victory over The Ultimate Warrior inside of that steel cage last night. But that’s not all folks, as we will also hear from Macho Man Randy Savage, who I’m sure will have something to say about his little scuffle with Mr. Perfect in the last night’s main event, which led to both men’s elimination!

- We see a graphic on the screen showing pictures of Rude and Savage, with the Prime Time logo in the middle of them. (85)

JV - First of all, McMahon, it’s good to know that we still have a champion like ‘Ravishing’ Rick Rude here in the World Wrestling Federation. The man is the definition of a champion, and once again, I told everyone that he would beat The Ultimate Warrior, and that’s exactly what he did.

VM - You did say that.

JV - You bet I did. Now, as for this Macho Man/Mr. Perfect business…..it’s Savage’s own fault that he got eliminated from the Survivor Series match. He blatantly struck Perfect, his own teammate, and it serves him right that he got eliminated. Maybe if he woulda been concentrating more on the opponent, that wouldn’t have happened. Savage has no one to blame but himself.

VM - You’re just on a roll tonight, aren’t you, Jesse?

JV - I’m just speaking the truth, McMahon. Like I do every single week.

VM - Well I’d call it more of an opinion.

JV - That’s fine. And I’d call you wrong.

VM - Anyways, folks, it’s time for our main event! Let’s send it to Howard Finkel!

‘The Model’ Rick Martel vs. Shawn Michaels

<a href="

http://s1004.photobucket.com/albums/af162/TheBlake/?action=view&current=rickmartel5.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1004.photobucket.com/albums/af162/TheBlake/rickmartel5.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a><a href="http://s1004.photobucket.com/albums/af162/TheBlake/?action=view&current=shawnmichaels6.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1004.photobucket.com/albums/af162/TheBlake/shawnmichaels6.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

Match Notes: A very good bout, with Michaels getting all the fan support following his successful streak over the last week or so. Michaels started out red hot, and was clicking on all cylinders, which sent Martel to the outside in a hurry to be consoled by Hyatt. Jannetty was pumping up the crowd, and being a cheerleader of sorts for Michaels, who really was on a roll. Martel tried to get offense in, but never really got a meaningful attack going. This match was all Michaels, and the crowd was eating it up. But, late in the match, with Michaels still in control, Akeem and Big Bossman made their way down the aisle and attacked Jannetty from behind. Michaels was still engaged with Martel on the inside, before finally noticing the attack, as referee Dave Hebner was yelling out and trying to stop the Towers. Michaels began to get out of the ring to help, but Martel grabbed him by the tights and Michaels turned right into the Arrogance spray, which Hyatt had threw in the ring for Martel. Martel went over and grabbed Hebner, and then jumped on top of Michaels quickly to score the pinfall.

WINNER: Rick Martel at 9:37 (80)

<a href="http://s1004.photobucket.com/albums/af162/TheBlake/?action=view&current=akeem.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1004.photobucket.com/albums/af162/TheBlake/akeem.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a><a href="http://s1004.photobucket.com/albums/af162/TheBlake/?action=view&current=bigbossman3.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1004.photobucket.com/albums/af162/TheBlake/bigbossman3.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

- After the match, the Towers walked confidently down the aisle as Michaels eventually made his way up and went out to check on Jannetty who was down on the outside, a victim of a vicious 2-on-1 attack.

VM - It certainly looks like the Twin Towers were out to gain an advantage before their big tag team match next week…..and boy did they achieve that! What a despicable attack on Jannetty!

JV - Michaels should have gotten out there and helped him a little earlier, McMahon. He’s his teammate after all.

VM - He had a match to focus on!

JV - Well this match wasn’t as important as the one he’s gonna have next week. And well, he lost anyways, so he might as well have just went out there and got counted out.

VM - Michaels is too much of a competitor for that, Jesse.

JV - So you’re saying it was better for him to leave his partner out there with two of the biggest men in the World Wrestling Federation? That don’t make no sense, McMahon!

VM - Well those two had no business being out here anyways!

JV - Sure they did! They were scouting one of their opponents for next week. Can’t blame them there.

VM - Ah that’s a load of…..

JV - Hey now! Watch it, McMahon!

VM - Alright, alright. Well ladies and gentlemen, we leave you tonight with highlights that we promised earlier on in the show of last night’s Survivor Series main event, which ended in an absolutely sickening manner, with Jake ‘The Snake’ Roberts revealing himself as World Wrestling Federation champion, Hulk Hogan’s attacker. We have no idea when we’ll see the Hulkster back here on WWF television, but you can bet that he won’t take this lying down.

- We cut to a video package that shows the highlights of the main event, including Andre’s countout elimination, and the rift between Savage and Perfect. Then we see the ending to the match, with Roberts standing over Hogan to the heavy boos from MSG crowd. (89)

SHOW RATING: 78 (that Beefcake/Rougeau rating might be the weirdest one thus far)

He'll get to pick the main event and semi-main event of a future Wrestling Challenge! Card for Prime Time should be up a little later.....but before that, there will be a very interesting development concerning a big WWF name (TEASER!). :D
