WWE 2011: Bragging Rights!

Recommended Posts

I wanna see Ryder win at EChamber, and I really think T-Reks should've went over Santino, plus I'm excited for Cara's debut. Should be a good show, though.

Glad you're excited for Cara's debut, Kijar. Both that, and Ryder's title match will come shortly after the PPV. Reks isn't really doing a lot at the moment, and although Santino has lost his Tag title, I think he still has the potential to be a solid midcarder.

...Don't Be So Confident, Playa...

This week's episode of Smackdown began with World Heavyweight champion Edge in the centre of the ring. “The Rated-R Superstar” talked up the Elimination Chamber match just two days away, and went on to remind fans that his friend and 'brother' Christian's victory at the Royal Rumble meant that they would get to fight each other at Wrestlemania. The fans cheers at the prospect of that match were soon cut short when Sheamus appeared at the top of the ramp, telling Edge that his ****iness won't get him anywhere. No, Sheamus said, there will be only one winner at the Elimination Chamber and that will be the “The Celtic Warrior”. Edge was about to fire back when the theme tune of Smackdown General Manager Teddy Long hit the Philly arena! Long announced that if Sheamus is so confident of victory at the PPV, he won't mind a little warm-up match tonight...against Rey Mysterio!

With a match against Jack Swagger lined up at Sunday's Elimination Chamber PPV,
Christian
headed into his match with
Chavo Guerrero
hoping for a solid win to build on his already staggering momentum. The match's length – almost eight and a half minutes – tells us how close a match it was, but the man who won the 2011 Royal Rumble would just edge the match despite a solidly consistent outing from Guerrero. The
Killswitch
that decided the contest was met by an enormous cheer from the Philly crowd as the WWE Universe continue to throw their support behind Christian.

...Boom, Boom, Boom, You Know It...

The action soon cut backstage where Intercontinental champion Kofi Kingston and his current title rival Zack Ryder were in the middle of a brawl in the car park area. The two clambered over cars and threw each other into the sides of parked vans in a surprisingly entertaining fight before the fun police arrived to break things up. As this feud heads towards its big match things are really starting to heat up!

Eve
and
Alicia Fox
have rarely had chance to get through an match without the appearance of Kharma of late, but this week they did. Without the presence of the biggest diva, or Eve's often opponents, Team LayCool, both Fox and Eve tried their best to show the WWE Universe that the Divas division has the strength in depth of the men's. Unfortunately, the fans disagreed and despite a relatively decent performance from both ladies, the fans never really got behind them. A
Scissor Kick
from Alicia in the eighth minute signalled the end of this contest.

...For Whom The Bell Tolls...

The tolling of a bell, a swirling mist, a deserted field. A stone marker, a tombstone, a name. David Otunga...the tombstone falls. Heath Slater...the tombstone falls. Justin Gabriel...the tombstone falls. A tombstone remains...Undertaker! Only at Elimination Chamber 2011!

We have already seen Zack Ryder once tonight, but this time he was in the ring.
Zack Ryder vs JTG
was a timid encounter that gave Zack Ryder a win and little else. The fans weren't all that interested in JTG and while Ryder's profile is on the rise, it isn't yet high enough to bring name value to a match like this. Still, a respectable midcard bout ended with a fifth minute
Zack Attack
from the “Long Island Iced Z”.

...The Times They Are A-Changing...

The action returned straight into the middle of an argument between Teddy Long and a vaguely familiar female voice. As we watched through a half opened door we could see a visibly uncomfortable Teddy Long argue about upcoming “changes” in the WWE. What they were, and who he was talking to wasn't clear, because almost as soon as the segment had begun there was a quiet cough off camera. The cameraman looked down to see Hornswoggle grinning maniacally before the little Irishman slammed the door in our face!

Dolph Ziggler's winning streak continues.
Dolph Ziggler vs Yoshi Tatsu
was another squash match in favour of the former Intercontinental champion, who has become more focused and more deadly since losing the belt, and his manager Vickie Guerrero, in the same week at the beginning of the year. Tatsu gave little to a match that was as one-sided as they come, a
Sleeper Hold
just before the six minute mark putting the Japanese star out of his misery.

...Nexus Or Against Us...

The action once again cut backstage to the Nexus locker-room where David Otunga, Justin Gabriel and Heath Slater were deep in discussion about their PPV match with The Undertaker. When Wade Barrett walked in Otunga attempted to confront him about the Englishman's lack of leadership but Barrett just brushed him off, claiming that the Smackdown Elimination Chamber match – Barrett's shot at the World Heavyweight title – was the more important thing to worry about at this moment in time, for him and for the Nexus. Barrett slammed his locker and stalked out of the room, leaving Otunga to grumble about the Englishman's self-importance behind his back.

Jack Swagger
is heading to Elimination Chamber on a high having defeated former WWE Tag Team champion
Santino Marella
in style. The match was a strong, technical affair with Santino surprising critics with a solid display that almost matched the “All-American American”. Jack Swagger vs Santino Marella is never going to get a big billing but the eight minute match kept the fans thoroughly entertained after what has been a fairly flat set of matches so far. A
Cobra
was blocked by the Amateur Wrestling standout and the following
Gutwrench Powerbomb
was enough to keep Marella down for the three count.

...WWE Hall of Fame 2011...

USA! USA! USA! Ooaahh!
It could only mean one thing! The second inductee of the 2011 Hall of Fame would be none other than “Hacksaw” Jim Duggan! Armed with his trusty 2x4 and the red, white and blue, Duggan went down in history as the winner of the first ever Royal Rumble in 1988. For his undying love of America, and his accomplishments in the ring, the WWE would like to welcome its second Hall of Fame 2011 inductee...

...An Irishman In Philly...

Sheamus became the latest superstar to talk about the Elimination Chamber when he told Josh Mathews just how promising his chances were. The Irishman admitted that the Smackdown Elimination Chamber – between himself, Cena, Edge, Barrett, Rhodes and his upcoming opponent Rey Mysterio – would be tough, he claimed that he had the raw power, the unbridled potential and the sheer determination to win. And when he did, he'd not only be the World Heavyweight champion, he would be the first Irishman in the main event of Wrestlemania too!

Our main event was a good insight into the potential quality of this Sunday's Elimination Chamber match – given that both of its participants will feature in that PPV match.
Rey Mysterio vs Sheamus
was a solid match that served to give both men a boost leading into the big Sunday show. Mysterio's speed proved a good compliment to Sheamus' power and for more than ten minutes the pair went back and forth, with numerous near falls leaving the crowd on the edge of their seats. In the end Sheamus' true colours came to the fore and he began focusing on inflicting pain over trying to pin his opponent. When Mysterio continued to fight back, Sheamus decided that things would end in his favour one way or another. Taking a steel chair Sheamus went to work on the Mexican's legs, attempting to take away the speed and agility that Mysterio often relies on. The attack was swift but the damage severe and although on paper this was a victory for Mysterio, Sheamus will count himself as the real winner of this contest.

Daniel Bryan brings it back to 2-2

Elimination Chamber Match, WWE World Heavyweight Title Match: Edge defends vs. "Dashing" Cody Rhodes vs. John Cena vs. Rey Mysterio vs. Sheamus vs. Wade Barrett

Wade Barrett mark, guilty as charged!

Jack Swagger vs. Christian

Christian wins his returning PPV match

Gauntlet Match: The Nexus (David Otunga, Heath Slater and Justin Gabriel) vs. The Undertaker

Undertaker is going to defeat the odds

WWE Title Match: Randy Orton defends vs. The Miz

Not a fan of successive changes in title reigns...

Elimination Chamber Match, #1 Contender To WWE Title Match: Alberto Del Rio vs. Big Show vs. CM Punk vs. Diesel vs. Drew McIntyre vs. John Morrison

It's probably going to be McIntyre seeing as you seem to be pushing him but I love Punk too much!

I have just sat for a couple of hours reading this whole diary and it is awesome! I love the layout of both shows and can't wait for the next read!

Best of Seven Match Series (2-1), Non Title: William Regal vs. Daniel Bryan

Probably wrong but I think it would be weird to have Bryan win both of the PPV matches (as he's obviously winning the feud at Wrestlemania). Also I think it's a bit too obvious predicting if you keep having them trade victories.

Elimination Chamber Match, WWE World Heavyweight Title Match: Edge defends vs. "Dashing" Cody Rhodes vs. John Cena vs. Rey Mysterio vs. Sheamus vs. Wade Barrett

Edge wins setting up a match against Christian at Mania which is what should have happened in real life.

Jack Swagger vs. Christian

Momentum for the title challenger.

Gauntlet Match: The Nexus (David Otunga, Heath Slater and Justin Gabriel) vs. The Undertaker

If Barrett was in this match my prediction would be different.

WWE Title Match: Randy Orton defends vs. The Miz

Can't see the title changing hands.

Elimination Chamber Match, #1 Contender To WWE Title Match: Alberto Del Rio vs. Big Show vs. CM Punk vs. Diesel vs. Drew McIntyre vs. John Morrison

It's either Punk or Del Rio, going with the most talented option.

Best of Seven Match Series (2-1), Non Title: William Regal vs. Daniel Bryan

I almost did go with Regal but having Bryan win three times a row would likely make Regal looking a little bit too weak at the end so I go with safer 2-2 option.

Elimination Chamber Match, WWE World Heavyweight Title Match: Edge defends vs. "Dashing" Cody Rhodes vs. John Cena vs. Rey Mysterio vs. Sheamus vs. Wade Barrett

I agree with Nathers7 about Edge vs. Christian being the likely Wrestlemania match so that means that Edge needs to retain here.

Jack Swagger vs. Christian

Christian won´t lose his momentum

Gauntlet Match: The Nexus (David Otunga, Heath Slater and Justin Gabriel) vs. The Undertaker

Undertaker is pretty old by now so he should be putting younger guys over espesially in 3 vs. 1 situations like this.

WWE Title Match: Randy Orton defends vs. The Miz

Miz isn´t getting the title back

Elimination Chamber Match, #1 Contender To WWE Title Match: Alberto Del Rio vs. Big Show vs. CM Punk vs. Diesel vs. Drew McIntyre vs. John Morrison

Orton vs. Punk would surely be interesting and Mania worthy match.

Best of 7 Match Series (2-1)

William Regal vs. Daniel Bryan

[Our opening contest here on WWE Elimination Chamber is a match in the best of 7 series between William Regal and Daniel Bryan. Both men are technical masters so it is no surprise that this is yet another technical masterpiece. The amount of matches within this series, though, has some fans questioning the length of it. A pretty good match to open the show, though, that saw Regal nearly get the submission with the Regal Stretch. Bryan made it to the ropes though and when Regal broke the hold, Bryan locked him in the LeBell Lock! Regal struggled to reach the ropes himself but Bryan had the hold in tight and Regal was forced to submit.]

Winner: Daniel Bryan (Via Submission @ 11:57; Series Tied (2-2))

Match Rating: C+

[Following the sound of the bell, Daniel Bryan gets his arm raised by the referee as the fans cheer his victory. Bryan moves to the corner and climbs up, pumping his fists to get the crowd even more excited about the WWE United States Champion! He is given his title and he raises that in the air as well as a figure moves into the ring behind him.]

Daniel Bryan takes the Brogue Kick from Sheamus! Sheamus looks down at Daniel Bryan and picks up the WWE United States title belt. He smirks down at it and then drapes it across the waist of Bryan before raising his fists in the air.]

Elimination Chamber Match

WWE World Heavyweight title on the line

Edge defends vs. John Cena vs. "Dashing" Cody Rhodes vs. Rey Mysterio vs. Sheamus vs. Wade Barrett

[Edge vs John Cena vs “Dashing” Cody Rhodes vs Rey Mysterio vs Sheamus vs Wade Barrett in an Elimination Chamber match for the World Heavyweight Title featured a fantastic mix of established stars and new upcoming members of the roster. The result was a good contest that stretched each participant to his limit. John Cena and “Dashing” Cody Rhodes who managed a close fought five minute bout before Sheamus entered the fray. By then Cena had the upper hand and Sheamus, seeing the tactical advantage, went surprisingly to Cena's aid, helping “The Champ” to eliminate the “Dashing One” after an Attitude Adjustment. The alliance was soon shattered when the three count completed and Sheamus began laying into Cena – who was still in the pinfall position. Sheamus controlled the next few minutes until Rey Mysterio's entrance gave Cena a reprieve. Sheamus managed to hold his own against the babyface duo and before long Wade Barrett entered the contest. The fourth man allowed two fairly even fights to develop, but as Barrett and Cena slogged it out in the corner, Sheamus was using anything he could find as a weapon. The size and power advantage the Irishman held over Rey Mysterio was used to full effect – the luchador was thrown into the side of the cell, the pods and even slammed onto the metal flooring. The devastation was quick and effective and just as Edge entered the match Rey Mysterio was eliminated. Across the ring Wade Barrett turned to see Edge enter, and the distraction proved decisive. Cena had been watching his opponent, and not the rest of the ring, and when Barrett turned back around, Cena hit his second Attitude Adjustment of the match...1....2...3! That left just Cena, Edge and Sheamus.

The trio engaged in a truly exciting three-way match that could have easily had any outcome. The fourth elimination was little more than bad luck for John Cena, who was Speared by Edge after Sheamus ducked out of the way. Edge and Sheamus managed another six minutes alone before the World Heavyweight champion's experience – and it could be argued freshness – took hold and a second Spear didn't miss, leaving only the required three count to confirm Edge as the winner. Winner: Edge (Via Elimination @ 24:17; Edge retains the WWE World Heavyweight title)

Jack Swagger vs. Christian

[We knew that Christian was going to Wrestlemania, and we now know that he'll be facing his close friend and former tag team partner Edge! That knowledge seemed to inspire Christian to victory and Christian vs Jack Swagger was a match easily on par with the Elimination Chamber contest we just witnessed. Swagger's technical approach may be undervalued in today's wrestling world but he certainly played his part in a match that for nine minutes entertained all 18,000 fans. A Killswitch from Christian was enough to put Swagger away, and left the fans even more excited about the prospect of Edge vs Christian at Wrestlemania! B]

Winner: Christian (Via Pinfall @ 9:33)

Gauntlet Match

The Undertaker vs. The Nexus

[Few would have expected The Undertaker vs The Nexus in a Gauntlet Match to reach the heights of the earlier Smackdown Elimination Chamber, nor the excellent contest between Christian and Jack Swagger but somehow, some way, it did. “The Phenom's” first opponent was Heath Slater, and the “One Man Rock Band” managed to get into the ring and throw a couple of punches before Taker leapt into action, hitting a devastating chokeslam on the ****y, unprepared Slater. Next up was Justin Gabriel who did a far better job of actually wrestling his opponent, but once again the end was in no doubt. Although Gabriel's attacks began to take a toll on the ageing “Phenom”, the South African never looked like winning and a Last Ride put him out for three.

Undertaker's final opponent – David Otunga – kept his distance from the Undertaker, wearing him down by dashing in, attacking, and jumping back. The tactic appeared to be working but as Otunga's confidence grew his concentration declined. In the tenth minute of the match he turned his back one too many times and The Undertaker launched into action, throwing Otunga into the corner. A big boot, running slam and Tombstone Piledriver later, and The Undertaker was being declared the victor of a match that whilst challenging, didn't come close to the danger it could so easily have been. B]

Winner: The Undertaker (Via Pinfall @ 11:11)

Match Rating: B

[As the gong of Taker's music hit the arena sound system the lights cut out, raising a huge cheer from the WWE Universe in attendance. Expecting to see The Undertaker bathed in blue light, the fans were completely shocked when the lights came back on with The Undertaker suspended in mid-air above Batista! We knew Batista was returning but who would have guessed it would be in such a devastating way...Batista Bomb!

Batista looked down at the body of The Undertaker and then pointed towards the Wrestlemania XVII banner hovering above the arena! Batista has laid down a challenge – will the Undertaker accept!? A]

WWE Title Match

Randy Orton defends vs. The Miz

[Our WWE Championship match is up next and it is a rematch that the fans have been anticipating. There is no Alex Riley at ringside for The Miz this time. This match definitely lives up the hype that surrounds it. One of these two men is headed to WrestleMania to defend this title. The match was a stalemate for most of the bout as it went back and forth between these two hated rivals. The Miz got a near fall following a swinging inverted DDT! The Miz puts Orton in the corner and he runs with a leaping corner clothesline. A few more minutes into the match, The Miz goes for the Skull Crushing Finale -- Connects! The Miz makes the cover: 1 -- 2 -- KICKOUT! Orton barely got his shoulder up before the three count! The crowd gets Orton back into the match and The Viper strikes The Miz with a rope hung DDT. The Viper coils on the mat, waiting for The Miz to get up. Orton stomps his foot on the mat and gets that unstable look on his face. The Miz gets on hands and knees -- Punt Kick! Orton catches The Miz with that Punt! Orton makes the cover: 1 -- 2 -- 3!]

Winner: Randy Orton (Via Pinfall @ 11:44; Randy Orton retains the WWE title)

Match Rating: B+

[We head into a video promoting this year's Raw Elimination Chamber! Six men will go into battle in the Elimination Chamber to determine the number one contender to the WWE title. We are shown how all six men made it to this evening with wins in singles matches during the month of February on WWE Raw.]

Elimination Chamber Match

Alberto Del Rio vs. Big Show vs. CM Punk vs. Diesel vs. Drew McIntyre vs. John Morrison

[Our main event this evening in a match that will determine just who will be the new number one contender to the WWE Championship!

First Two Men

The first two men inside the Elimination Chamber were Drew McIntyre and John Morrison! These two men showed why they are two of the premier athletes on Raw. Each of them scored early near falls but it seemed like neither man could pick up the victory. As they hit a double clothesline on each other, one of the biggest events of the night occured.

Big Show

The focus turned to the chamber where The Big Show is standing when red smoke began rising inside the chamber. The crowd watched as the ring beneath the Chamber was torn apart and Kane's upper body began sticking out inside Big Show's chamber. Big Show was taken by surprise when 'The Big Red Monster' grabbed him and began sucking him down in the ring. At this point, Kane and Big Show disappeared inside the ring and would not be seen for the rest of the evening.

Add Alberto Del Rio

Alberto Del Rio came in and he made an immediate impact when he went after the arm of John Morrison. Morrison did his best to stay away from the action but he was double-teamed by Del Rio and McIntyre. McIntyre strikes Morrison with the Future Shock! Del Rio shoves McIntyre away and hooks on the Cross Armbreaker! John Morrison has no choice but to tap.

John Morrison is eliminated

Add Diesel

After the first time, when Big Show was supposed to come out but he has disappeared, Diesel entered the ring to fight both McIntyre and Del Rio. Del Rio used a hit and run strategy on both McIntyre and 'Big Daddy Cool.' Diesel focused his attention on McIntyre and was able to hit the JackKnife Power Bomb on McIntyre with an assist from the cell structure. He made the cover on McIntyre: 1 -- 2 -- 3!

Drew McIntyre is eliminated

Add CM Punk

Diesel and Alberto Del Rio were battling when the last contestant came out of his chamber in CM Punk. The Straight Edge Superstar was content with watching when he first came out of his cell. Del Rio suffered a horrible fate as he was whipped into one of the chambers, smashing the glass and busting him wide open! CM Punk slips over and attacks Diesel, locking in the Anaconda Vice! Diesel struggles but has nowhere to go! Big Daddy Cool is forced to tap out!

Diesel is eliminated

Final Two

We are down to our final two contestants in CM Punk and Alberto Del Rio. And the two of them put on a fine back and forth show with the crowd showing some support for both men. Del Rio goes for his Cross Armbreaker but CM Punk manages to get out of it. CM Punk is sent into the cage, though and gets busted open, much like Alberto Del Rio. Both men are bloody messes. Del Rio drops Punk with a bridging German Suplex: 1 -- 2 -- Kickout! Punk battles back with a knee in the corner and then a bulldog. He motions for the Go To Sleep and then picks Del Rio up on his shoulders -- GO TO SLEEP! Punk drops Del Rio with the GTS! He makes the cover: 1 -- 2 -- 3!]

Winner: CM Punk (Via Elimination @ 24:19)

Match Rating: A

[CM Punk is going to WrestleMania to take on Randy Orton! A bloodied CM Punk gets his arm raised as he is victorious over five other wrestlers here tonight. Punk looks outside the cell and points toward the WrestleMania sign. CM Punk smiles and motions the 'belt' motion to his waist, saying that he is going to walk away from WrestleMania with the WWE Championship. Will he? We'll find out at WrestleMania! We'll see you next time on WWE Raw where Stephanie McMahon will be taking over!]

Best of Seven Match Series (2-2), Non Title: William Regal vs. Daniel Bryan

- Have Regal go up 3-2 then have Bryan come back two straight.

Non Title: The New Legacy vs. Open Challenge/Mystery Team

- Legacy will win but I've got a feeling I'll be surprised by who this team is.

Michelle McCool vs. Kelly Kelly

- Total shot in the dark because I don't really pay attention to today's Women's division.

The Miz vs. Rey Mysterio

- As much as I want Mysterio to win, The Miz should be getting the win here in order to keep him dominant.

Sheamus vs. John Morrison

- This one could really go either way but I see Sheamus getting the W.

CM Punk vs. John Cena

- Keep him looking good on the Road to Wrestlemania.

Best of Seven Match Series (2-2), Non Title: William Regal vs. Daniel Bryan

I agree with ya_its_me, Regal takes this one and then Bryan takes the last two.

Non Title: The New Legacy vs. Open Challenge/Mystery Team

Non title so challengers pick up a nice win in order to establish them quickly.

Michelle McCool vs. Kelly Kelly

Personal preference

The Miz vs. Rey Mysterio

Miz did lose his title pretty quickly so win over Mysterio would help him re-establish in my eyes.

Sheamus vs. John Morrison

Sheamus was the last man to be eliminated in Chamber while Morrison didn´t do nearly as good so I go with Sheamus.

CM Punk vs. John Cena

Punk is the one who has big title match coming so I give him the win here.
