MJStark Posted January 17, 2012 Share Posted January 17, 2012 Yep, that's right, I took the plunge and started a CBH Render Request Thread. GROUND RULES FOR REQUESTS i: Politeness - Remember, renderers are taking their own time to essentially do you a favour, so please remember your manners ii: Please give a good description - But avoid being overly intricate on details. You will get better work from it if you allow renderers some creative freedom, but also don't be too vague. If you can find a picture of roughly what you are after out there on the web post it, visuals will always help, and by all means pop on to HeroMachine or something similar if you want. Also, putting the word 'REQUEST' (in the blue & bold) at the start will help request posts stand out more. iii: One request at a time - No 'I need this 5 man super-squad' requests please. If you have five requests, take five turns. If a request you made isn't getting filled but you want something different go back, edit the original post to remove the request and post again. iv: Bumping - Please leave a request for five days before bumping it. v: Be gracious about what you are given - See point (i). If you are truely unhappy with it then I'd imagine most renderers would be up for giving things a tweek but please be polite GROUND RULES FOR RENDERERS i: Claim posts - To stop two or more renderers working on the same character if you see a character you want to give a go, quote the request post and say you're doing it. If two people do this without seeing each others post I'll PM them and they can decide between themselves ii: 'Copyrighting' - By all means place rules of use on renders you post (eg: Fine for personal games, not for mods, etc). As standard all renders will be free to use so if you don't want that it's your job to let people know. iii: Politeness - Same applies for us lot too. Just cos we're artists doesn't mean we can be rude These ground rules may be added too in the future as situations come up, or if anyone has any good ideas for neccesary rules to make this all run as smoothly as possible. Just to point out, while I am a renderer I have no intention of filling every request so I'm starting this on a Field of Dreams basis ('If you post it, they will come') as far as renderers are concerned. REQUEST The Minute Menace - A villain with the ability to shrink in order to cause mayhem. I don't really care what the villain's costume looks like but for the actual picture I would like him to be in the process of shrinking. I'm thinking copying and layering smaller and smaller versions of the guy on top of each other and having increasing transparencies/blur effects to get an "action" shot for the body. I'm not sure if this is an example, or a serious request but the above is exactly the sort of thing that will get a request ignored in my opinion. The rest is fine but if you don't care what the costume looks like how is a renderer supposed to come up with something? As evidenced in the TEW alt thread 9 times out of 10 someone who writes this will not be happy with the outcome - I'd prefer it to be green/black/have circles/be shorter etc. is typically the response to a posted image.
