The League, Season Six (Game Thread)

Recommended Posts

Late night posts from me... Nuclear wouldn't be an SK, he'd be a bomb. Attack him and he's going to make you suffer for it at least as badly as you make him suffer... leave him alone and he's gonna leave you alone. A nice townie role for Nuclear... Coach on the other hand, he'd be a tough one to predict where he'd land. Possibly an indy of some sort out to make himself some cash. :)

Scorpion could be an SK as well.

Nah... Louisville Slugger is way weaker than LGT

Dangit, Sam, did you have to go and ruin my PG/CO surprise already?

...you are SO not appearing in this game now.:p

(Note: I do not speak for the finished product of the actual League Mafia. You really think I'm going to give you any more information than what is presented over the five threads already devoted to The League? *laughs*)

...sorry... :p:D:p

Can you imagine LGT being Lightning's manager though?

Or maybe 'Bulletproof' (Adrenaline Rush)

That would probably fit Gaius and Century as well

@Survive_The_Sting! @III you go anywhere near my wife @QueenB_LBS I will end you.

@Survive_The_Sting! @Diamond_Rocks Please. You're the one hiding behind a rule preventing me from getting my title back so that makes you the chicken s***.

@Survive_The_Sting! @Diamond_Rocks If you want me to be a man have the ban lifted and I will be happy to take the title from you.

@Survive_The_Sting! @Diamond_Rocks Not my fault you're too chicken to have the ban lifted to protect yourself from me.

@Survive_The_Sting! @Diamond_Rocks Not my fault I have to use a loop-hole to get back whats mine because certain champions are too scared to face me.

@QueenB_LBS @Diamond_Rocks Plastic??? Please this is all nat-u-ral honey. Have my belt polished for me.

So, work has decided to cut down on the time I normally use to do League stuff this week, with me losing most of my standard match-writing time to an absolutely BS training thing on Tuesday. Most of my job work will have to be done on Monday, which means that finalizing database stuff may not get done on my usual schedule.

So instead, I'm just gonna say [censored] it and push the show back a day. Means that yes, once again the show will be posted on Wednesday. But I'd rather not take the chance in missing something in the updates and PM's that could affect the matches run.

Training deadline is still tomorrow evening. For those folks asking about a moveset, I'll try to get to you tomorrow with an answer for your specific questions.

Finally, a reply from Tori:

@LeagueToriM: @Psycho_Sam_BBW--given my past history with guest hosts for B.R., and your current situation, I'm not sure how that'd work....

Show has been run. Need to add commentary (tomorrow's task post-dental appointment) and get pages updated.

A heads-up that I will not be doing predictions for Tag Team Turmoil because of the redraws every round.

I also plan (hopefully) to announce the opening round matches Friday evening local time. I may try to get a Beyond Ringside thing put up to go over the first half stuff, but that will depend on my mental status later this week.

What, you don't want to try and arbitrate and score people picking wins for random tag partners? Sigh.

What, you don't want to try and arbitrate and score people picking wins for random tag partners? Sigh.

If the roles were reversed, would you want to do it? I'm just trying to limit my headaches while I have the chance! :p

Or more importantly, guessing who the random tag partner is and then having Tori make the teams to her liking, allowing Squeamix to win?:p

Tori has nothing to do with the drawing. That's Commissioner Marshall's job.

He didn't win. Nuclear won it for him.

Just don't hate Phoenix for being a far better tag wrestler than the two of you put together.

As an update, I am about halfway done the card. I hope to have the show up by... *looks at clock* ...about 8:00 p.m. local time, or in about two hours. If it's done earlier, then it will be up earlier, naturally.

Pages will be updated tomorrow when I sit down to start the mid-season review show, and should be posted by 5:00 p.m. local time Thursday afternoon.

THE LEAGUE: SEASON SIX, WEEK NINE

[it's the second "Rivalry Week" of the season, and the crowd in Wolverhampton has turned out in force for the end of the first half of the season. Instead of going to our ringside team as is normal, we instead head right for the ring to get the action underway this week.]

Scott Stevens (4-4, 7%) vs. III (4-4, 8%)

The lights in the arena go pitch black, as red lasers and spotlights light up the area. The video screen lights up and flashes across the screen, "Nothing survives my sting!" The crowd starts booing as Dave Mustaine's voice echoes throughout the arena, "I am the Scorpion, whoa!" The jeering intensifies as a mash-up of "I Stand Alone" and "Amazing" hits the speakers, drawing out the former Legacy Pro Wrestling champion. Walking down the aisle, he talks trash the entire way while raising a fist at a few of the more vocal bashers. As he finally gets to the ring, he climbs the nearest turnbuckle and stares down the aisleway, an icy glare and the throat slash gesture his only actions as he drops to the mat.

Amelia Williams: Ladies and gentlemen, this is our opening contest, scheduled for one fall! Introducing first, from Houston, Texas, weighing 256 pounds...Her Goddess Selket's favorite Arachnid, The King of Sting, The Venomous One and Only... he is "The Scorpion" Scott Stevens!

Bob Sinclair: Good evening, everyone, and welcome to what is sure to be an action-packed episode of The League! We're not wasting any time tonight, as we start with one of the more heated rivalries in The League!

Tori Montgomery: The last time these two faced each other, Stevens suffered his first career loss to III, and you can bet that Stevens is looking to use III as nothing more than a warm-up headed into LPW's first show on Thursday.

Frankie Garnett: No way Scorp loses to the twerp twice in a row, Tori. No way whatsoever!

Two bagpipe players come out, playing the Scottish funeral dirge "Coronach" as fog covers the entranceway. Riding on a white horse is III, wearing a Grim Reaper rope and holding a scythe in one hand, pointed at the ring as his horse slowly walks to the ring. Behind him are two women carrying bouquets of orchids. III leads the procession to the announce table, the women placing the flowers on the table, as does III with the scythe, before he dismounts the horse and removes the robe, rolling in the ring and doing a limb breaking motion while never taking his eyes off of Stevens.

Amelia Williams: His opponent, from The Third Altar of the Third Tier of the Third Pyramid, weighing 199 pounds...III!

Bob Sinclair: Due to his win in week one, III is currently the leader of this pairing despite equal records. A win here guarantees him the tie-breaker over Stevens.

Tori Montgomery: He's mentioned something to me about an Owl's Death Grip, something that he made a reference to before their Week One contest. We might see that in this match, as he continues to try to get in the head of Stevens,

Frankie Garnett: Unless it's his shoulders gripping the mat while Stevens covers him for a pin, it won't be relevant.

Amelia Williams: Our next bout is scheduled for one fall! Introducing first, from Shreveport, Louisiana, weighing 292 pounds...Tarik Nolan!

Amelia Williams: Here is your winner, at a time of six minutes and twenty seconds...Tarik Nolan!

Frankie Garnett: A press powerslam? Seriously? He had to have done something illegal there, ref!

Bob Sinclair: It looked like Sam hit his head hard on the outside just moments before, Frankie. It might have knocked him into a daze.

Tori Montgomery: I'm thinking the same thing, Bob, though I wouldn't discount the impact of that powerslam. Nolan has freakish power, and that impact could have stunned Sam just as well. Regardless, Nolan ties the series and moves into the lead in his pairing!

Psykosonik's "Panik Kontrol" echoes throughout the arena as our next participant emerges, nearly hidden amidst the red spotlights. Amelia Williams: Our next contest is scheduled for one fall, and is for the Legacy Pro Wrestling Championship! Introducing first, the challenger...from Bien Hoa, Vietnam, weighing 177 pounds...Ly Quang Bao!

Bob Sinclair: Bao has a chance to get a measure of revenge and comeuppance at the same time here, as he looks to avenge his Week One loss.

Frankie Garnett: Him as LPW Champion? Well, he did come back from a broken neck, so maybe he does deserve it.

Tori Montgomery: More so than you, Frankie.

Frankie Garnett: Hey!

"Don't Cha" hits the arena to a mixed reaction as The League's lone female member emerges from backstage, with a gold title belt around her waist. There is a confident smirk on her face as she talks trash with some of the louder fans before sprinting into the ring by diving under the bottom rope. As she stands, she proceeds to the corner nearest the announce table, hands thrown in the air as the soaks in the crowd reaction while her manager stands outside, also applauding her client.

Amelia Williams: His opponent, accompanied to the ring by Jayde, from Aberdeen, Scotland, weighing 137 pounds, she is the reigning and defending Legacy Pro Wrestling champion...Diamond!

Bob Sinclair: Diamond won the title in controversial fashion last week, causing the webmaster of LPW's site to go on a tirade claiming we were devaluing the prestige of their title.

Frankie Garnett: I think the guy has a point, Bob.

Amelia Williams: Here is your winner, at a time of eight minutes even, and still the Legacy Pro Wrestling champion...Diamond!

Bob Sinclair: Diamond becomes the first person to successfully defend the LPW title on League programming, and now has her sights set on becoming the second two-time Tag Team Turmoil champion!

Tori Montgomery: She has her work cut out for her, given the random draw system in effect...what in the heck?!

Tori's random question does have some merit, as a female jumps the railing and heads into the ring. She shoves Jayde violently, sending the manager out of the ring, and immediately uses a Thesz press to send the LPW Champion to the mat, lashing away with right hands!

Bob Sinclair: Wait, that's—

Frankie Garnett: That's Lisa Stevens! And she brought a referee with her!

Tori Montgomery: For crying out loud, this is how Scott Stevens looks to circumvent the system?!

Saying his name seems to summon him, as Stevens runs down from the entrance to the ringside area. Scott begins to stomp away on Jayde, who is trying to defend herself as best she can, while in the ring Lisa Stevens goes for the eyes of Diamond, blinding the LPW Champion temporarily. Lisa gets to her feet, mocking Diamond to do the same as the champ slowly tries to recover her vision. It's in vain, though, as Lisa comes out of the corner with a vile superkick, sending Diamond to the mat. Cover by the challenger:

1...

2...

The ref's hand comes down...

Kick out at the last second! Diamond somehow gets a shoulder up!

Frankie Garnett: Dammit, Lisa, this is the best ref you could get?! Fire him and get a new one!

Tori Montgomery: Sit your butt down, Frankie!

Bob Sinclair: Diamond kicked out on pure instinct alone, but does she have anything left?

Both Lisa and Scott start to berate the official, who maintains that it was only a two-count. Scott is so upset that he climbs onto the apron, and hops onto the top rope, springing off with a clothesline to send the official down! Not content with this, he locks in his Venomous Wrath of the Goddess Selket on the hapless official, who is crying out in pain and tapping the mat wildly to no avail. Lisa goes back over towards Diamond, but quickly changes tactics as she sees another figure running down the ramp. She shouts at Scott, who finally recognizes the danger incoming and releases the crossface submission hold on the referee. In the next minute, Scott is taken down via springboard hurricanrana, as III comes in to even the playing field a bit. Scott and III begin to brawl, eventually sending the both of them out of the ring.

Back inside the ring, Lisa seems to grow more confident as she sizes up Diamond for what could be the final blow. Diamond seems to be out of it as she gets to all fours, but the camera can barely pick up a nod from her as she looks across the ring, where Jayde has entered under the bottom rope. Lisa screams for Diamond to get up so she can end this, but screams in a totally different manner a moment later as Jayde gets to her feet, grabs Lisa by her hair, and yanks backward, causing the back of Lisa's head to impact the bent knee of Jayde. Lisa collapses, writhing in pain as she holds the back of her head, and Diamond gets to her feet, a smile on her face. Jayde waves to the back for another official to come to the ring as Diamond locks in the first part of her Florentine submission...but instead of the bridge that normally follows, she reaches back and violently tugs at Lisa's hair, effectively making the bridge that way. A second official gets in the ring, and immediately asks Lisa if she wants to give it up. Lisa shouts no, and Diamond yanks back on the hair even harder. For a brief moment, Lisa almost looks bent in half...and then the hair comes off in Diamond's hand. With the lack of pressure, Lisa's face slams into the mat, and she lies motionless, still trapped in the submission hold. The ref takes one look and quickly calls for the bell, seeing that Lisa is knocked out.

Amelia Williams: Here is your winner, and still the Legacy Pro Wrestling Champion...Diamond!

The champ releases the hold (after kicking Lisa in the ribs once for good measure), rolling outside to grab her title belt and vault the barrier, exiting through the crowd before anyone else can think to take advantage.

Bob Sinclair: It has gotten chaotic out here!

Frankie Garnett: Who cares about that, can we get an E.M.T. out here for Lisa?!

Tori Montgomery: I hate ot agree with Frankie on this one, but he's right. Lisa Stevens needs medical attention; she may have a broken nose or a concussion, or both from that assault.

Bob Sinclair: She brought a ref with her, Tori, so she knew what she was getting into. Not to mention her past as a wrestling champion herself.

Tori Montgomery: Still, this is the sort of thing that you don't expect to see happen in front of you....

The cameras fade to commercial on a shot of Lisa Stevens being loaded onto a gurney, with Scott looking furiously at the medical workers.

Sebastian Moore (2-6, 18%) vs. Nuclear Templeton (7-1, 14%)

It is to Muse's "Assassin" that he emerges, an arrogant smirk crossing his face as he soaks in the jeers of the crowd. Looking up at the spotlight for a moment, his smirk seems to get even bigger as he walks down the ramp, ignoring the catcalls of the crowd as he ascends the steps, wipes his feet on the apron, and steps through the ropes, looking more at ease than the casual fan may think.

Amelia Williams: This match is scheduled for one fall! Introducing first, from Manchester, England, weighing 237 pounds...Sebastian Moore!

Bob Sinclair: Welcome back to The League, ladies and gentlemen. During the break, E.M.T.'s loaded Lisa Stevens into an ambulance, and have taken her to a local medical facility for precautionary measures. Her husband Scott has also gone with her, and we've also been told that Diamond and Jayde made a quick exit out of the arena, so barring any other sort of shenanigans the rest of the night should maintain some semblance of order.

Frankie Garnett: I should have gone with Scorp and Lisa too.

Tori Montgomery: You have a job to do, Frankie. Besides, I'm sure Scott will send you text messages with any updates.

Frankie Garnett: But my phone has no service here.

Tori Montgomery: Well then sorry 'bout your damn luck.

Billy Idol's "Shock to the System" hits the speakers, bringing the crowd to their feet in ovation as one of the League's more recognizable faces emerges from backstage and across the green-tinted stage. Behind him, shouting final words of wisdom at him as he strides to the ring, is his manager, who seems unfazed by the surroundings. As they reach the bottom of the ramp, Nuclear grabs the Tag Team Title belt off his shoulder and raises his arms in the air, causing twin mushroom clouds to explode on the entrance stage before he slides into the ring, ready to go.

Amelia Williams: His opponent, accompanied to the ring by Coach Robert Greene, from Atlantic City, New Jersey, weighing 278 pounds, he is one-half of the reigning Tag Team Turmoil champions...Nuclear Templeton!

Bob Sinclair: Currently the number-one wrestler in The League, Nuclear looks ready for next week and a chance to defend his Tag Team Turmoil championship.

Tori Montgomery: I've been told that he's decided to tweak his offensive arsenal a little, Bob, so it should be interesting to see what effect that will have on him tonight.

Bob Sinclair: Imoka evens up the season series, and takes a slight lead in the pairing with that hard-fought win!

Tori Montgomery: How much is this going to affect Thor for the remainder of the season, though? Imoka may have won both the battle and the war here tonight!

Frankie Garnett: Thor certainly looks like he's been through a war, that's for sure....

Johnny Triumph (3-5, 18%) vs. Eidenhoek Gaiaspade (2-6, 24%)

Disturbed's "Indestructible" hits the arena as The League's resident monk emerges from the back, looking surprisingly at ease despite the hard beat of the song. Amelia Williams: This contest is scheduled for one fall! Introducing first, from the Island of Tria, weighing 205 pounds...Eidenhoek Gaiaspade!

Bob Sinclair: This is a pairing that has disappointed me so far. I expected one or both of these men to be doing better than this.

Tori Montgomery: With one playoff spot guaranteed, the question remains "Will the winner of this pairing have a winning record when they reach the playoffs?"

Frankie Garnett: No, it's more like "Who is going to lose to Nuclear Templeton in the first round?"

A remixed version of "Ecstasy of Gold" hits the speakers, which is nearly drowned out in jeers as he emerges from the entryway. Amelia Williams: His opponent, from Des Moines, Iowa, weighing 228 pounds...Johnny Triumph!

Bob Sinclair: Triumph has been underwhelming so far, and I'm not sure if his head is in it this season.

Tori Montgomery: Given that most experts had him at 5-3 at this point, and yet he's only one match ahead of Gaius entering tonight, underwhelming is quite appropriate.

FINGER POKE OF DOOM FTW!!! (no, it's not a real move yet:p It's a finger poke, resulting in his opponent going into a major epileptic shock, dancing all over the ring before they fall out of the ring onto the area where Karl Doggo is kept on ground, resulting in a Mortal Kombat Dog nearly killing the opponent. Just like what Scorpion does every match he's in. Except for the part where Karl Doggo nearly kills him)
