EXODUS 2010: Akahito Miwa and the Rise of Modern Japan

Akahito Miwa, Booker of EXODUS 2010

FROM THE MIND OF AKAHITO MIWA:

I am at the forefront of the pro wrestling world and nobody even realizes it.

The strength of "Modern Japan" has given me a new lease on life. In 2010, EXODUS 2010 was founded by Yoshi Oshiro. In 2011 EXODUS joined with my home of World Level Wrestling, Warrior Engine XXV, and Golden Cavas Grappling and enabled me to take up my current position as the booker of EXODUS in December of 2012.

But the current state of Japanese wrestling has also divided me from my family. My family and I find ourselves on the opposite side of a coming war, and the only thing that I can take solace in is the fact that I know that I am in the right.

The beauty of EXODUS is that we will not be known as the men that have risen from the ashes of anything else. We will be the fire that creates the ashes.

Two of EXODUS' rising stars collide in the opening match of the year's first show. Based on history, the advantage is in the favor of Tobei Sugimura, who holds a significant victory over Commander Kawagishi and partner Shimpei Hirose with the Tag Team Titles on the line.

(Kaii Hanari and Kokei Shoda)

The American Dragons make their debut in EXODUS against former Tag Team Champions, DISCO Boys. Imports from United States promotion Coastal Zone Championship Wrestling, the Dragons are the polar opposites of the fun-loving DISCO Boys. This is a battle of discipline vs. antics. A win for the Dragons could launch them toward a Tag Team Championship match-up, while the DISCO Boys look to cut short the new-comers.

15 years of experience separate Silver Shibanuma and Shimpei Hirose. With just 3 years of experience, Hirose is perhaps the most powerful man in EXODUS and will look to use that to overwhelm the veteran Shibanuma.

EXODUS 2010 World Champion Silver Shark and World Level Wrestling's Emerald Angel

Four men at very different points in their career. Burning EXILE looks to establish his legacy as more than just arrogant, while also proving that he can be the star of a promotion. Super Joshuya has entered the twilight of his career and is looking to prove that he can still perform at the highest level. Silver Shark is finally at the top of the food chain. And Emerald Angel, the outsider in this match, looks to prove that his success can translate to any promotion in the world.

This is a match that all four men wanted, and they will all be looking to outshine eachother and cement their place as the the star to take EXODUS and the Junior world into 2013.

Tobei Sugimura

http://imageshack.us/a/img541/7093/commanderkawagishi.jpg

Commander Kawagishi

An even match between two former EXODUS Tag Team Champions, the match stays that way until Commander Kawagishi is able to wrestle Sugimura to the mat. From that point on he manages to maintain control, with Tobei making occasional comebacks.

The finish finally comes during one of Tobei Sugimura's comebacks, when he decides to stop for a moment to comment about crusading against the ridiculousness Commander's blue hair. The Commander takes offense and shortly thereafter connects with Diamond Dust for the win.

Winner: Commander Kawagishi via Diamond Dust

Rating: D

Takeji Komagata's rating: D-. Tobei Sugimura needs to crusade against losing instead of bad haircuts.

Tanosuke Joshuyo's rating: D. You're just upset because you have a bad haircut.

Takeji Komagata: You're just upset because I have hair.

DISCO Boys

(Kaii Hanari and Kokei Shoda)

Frankie Perez and Kaii Hanari start the bout for their teams. The Dragons are making their EXODUS debut here. Hanari is able to keep his opponent off-guard with oddly effective disco-based offense until Perez seizes the opportunity to kick his face in. Perez and James make quick tags, keeping Hanari confined until he is finally able to make the tag to Kokei Shoda. Shoda comes in as a ball of disco-fire until he is suddenly cut off by A Tail of Two Dragons for the 3 count.

Winners: The American Dragons via A Tail of Two Dragons

Rating: E+

Takeji Komagata's rating: D. I loved the part where Frankie Perez killed disco.

Tanosuke Joshuyo's rating: D. An impressive debut for the American Dragons.

http://imageshack.us/a/img832/1530/shimpeihirose.jpg

Shimpei Hirose

The rookie's enthusiasm and brawling quickly overwhelm Shibanuma for much of the match, but the veteran's speed and experience allow him to escape to safety every time things look to be slipping away from him. However, growing frustrated with his inability to keep up with the younger Hirose's onslaught, Shibanuma settles for a low kick to the knee, which send his opponent crumbling to the ground. Working over the knee enables Shibanuma to quell Hirose's youthful vigor as well as set up for the 460° Splash, which connects for the hard fought win.

Winner: Silver Shibanuma via 460° Splash

Rating: D-

Takeji Komagata's rating: F. Shibanuma used a low blow!

Tanosuke Joshuyo's rating: D. Since when is a kick to the KNEE a low blow?

Jacob Jett

Jacob Jett is making his EXODUS debut here. Both men are high fliers by nature, but start the match out with a speedy ground game which equates to a stalemate. This is a battle where the first man to make a mistake will likely end up the loser. This first mistake is Hyotaru's, when he goes for the Hyotaru Driver III too early, allowing Jett to connect with a stiff knee to the face and roll his opponent up for the win.

Winner: Jacob Jett via small package

Rating: D

Takeji Komagata's rating: F-. Hyotaru shames his country!

Tanosuke Joshuyo's rating: D. You didn't seem to feel that way when DISCO Boys lost.

Takeji Komagata: I felt like their dancing made that statement unnecessary.

EXODUS 2010 World Champion Silver Shark and World Level Wrestling's Emerald Angel

Silver Shark and Super Joshuya start off the dream tag match. Silver Shark holds a victory over Joshuya with the World Title on the line. The two men start with chain wrestling, giving neither man an advantage. They tie up again and come up with the same result, when Joshuya decides to bring EXILE into the fray. Silver Shark opts not to bring Emerald Angel into the match.

Shark and EXILE tie up, but EXILE quickly goes for Shark's eyes to capture the advantage. From that point on EXILE is able to work the champion over, and even arrogantly kicks away at his head. Shark struggles to fight back but fails. EXILE, in typical fashion, openly mocks the champion until he is able to roll between EXILE's legs and finally makes the tag to Emerald Angel. Angel quickly takes control of EXILE as the crowd pops. Through his mask, Silver Shark looks almost dejected in the corner. Emerald Angel continues to fire on all cylinder, gracefully moving across the ring as the momentum quickly swings to his favor.

EXILE escapes to his corner to bring Joshuya back into the bout, and the match once again evens out as Angel squares off with the legend. The match continues in this way, see-sawing back and forth until both men are laid out and forced to make the tag to their respective parters. Silver Shark and Burning EXILE once again approach eachother with fury, and this time Silver Shark is able to get the better of EXILE.

The finish comes when all of the wrestlers have entered the ring. Emerald Angel and Burning EXILE spill to the outside while Silver Shark captures Super Joshuya in the Jaws of Life neat his own corner. Joshuya struggles for the ropes but Shark is able to hold his man in place. From nowhere Emerald Angel is on the apron, having disposed of EXILE, and steals the tag before climbing to the top rope and connecting with Angel Grace II for the victory as his partner looks on in apparent shock.

Emerald Angel celebrates the victory but Silver Shark does not seem amused. Angel extends his arm for the handshake but it is denied, perhaps more out of shock and confusion than disrespect. Instead, Angel arrogantly gestures toward Silver Shark's EXODUS championship as the show comes to a close.

Winners: Silver Shark and Emerald Angel via Emerald Angel's Angel Grace II

Rating: C

Takeji Komagata's rating: B. Emerald Angel did what had to be done! I love that.

Tanosuke Joshuyo's rating: C. I'm not sure about that. Joshuya may not have been able to escape the Jaws of Life.
