shamelessposer
I know we've got some nerds around, so I figured I'd pass this along. ==== Check out the website at http://www.stellarcon.com. Guests include: Literary Guest of Honor Eric Flint (Creator of the 1632 series) Artist Guests of Honor Richard Case (Doom Patrol), Chris Kemple (Red Storm Entertainment), and Kelly Yates (Doctor Who), representing Artist Alley Comics Gaming Guests of Honor Bully Pulpit Games (Creators of Fiasco), featuring Steve Segedy T. Glenn Bane Theresa Bane Davey Beauchamp Chris Berman Danny Birt Chad Bowser Barbara Friend Ish Dan Johnson Jennifer McCollom Mon Frère Michael Pederson Angela Pritchett Dr. Tedd Roberts, Speaker to Lab Animals Chris Ross Amy Sturgis Allegra Torres Allen Wold StellarCon is one of the oldest student-led conventions still running today, and is proud to announce its return to the city of Greensboro, North Carolina. Just as the University of North Carolina at Greensboro is known for the diversity of its student body, StellarCon is known for diversity in attendees, guests, and subject matter: In past years attendees have been able to see an academic talk from one of America’s bestselling authors the same day they take in a concert from one of the area’s most popular wizard rock bands. It’s not uncommon to see Klingons and Imperial Stormtroopers gathered around the same gaming table. The Symposium On Nerdy Academic Research (SONAR) was a tremendous success for StellarCon 36, and so it will continue into StellarCon 37. In an attempt to change with the times, StellarCon’s always popular gaming rooms will now be supplemented with an additional electronic gaming room. While StellarCon is dedicated to moving forward and trying new things, it also recognizes its history and decades-old roots in the fan community. Popular events from years past will always have their place in the convention, whether the event in question is a filk circle, Allen Wold’s Writer’s Workshop, Writer Versus Artist Pictionary, or Klingon Karaoke. StellarCon is one of the smaller conventions in the area, and many attendees and guests have found that to be a large part of our charm. In the past, our guests who have attended larger, better known conventions have often commented that they appreciate the more intimate atmosphere that comes from a convention our size. At a convention with thousands of people, you might get a chance to shake your favorite author’s hand. At StellarCon, you might be able to share a drink with him at the hotel bar. If you’ve never attended StellarCon, there’s plenty to enjoy. If you’ve visited us in the past, we’ll be glad to see you again – and bring your kids, as well, because StellarCon is and always will be a family friendly convention. We’ll see you the first weekend of March! StellarCon is sponsored by the UNCG Science Fiction Fantasy Federation.
