In the ring, Roddy Piper is standing with a microphone. He demands Ric Flair come out and address Nitro's biggest problem; Alex Shelley's theft of Petey Williams' WCW Television title, and to give Petey Williams a rematch. Flair comes out to a big pop, and tells Piper he can't talk his way into a title shot, Petey's gotta earn it. He says Petey has to win a #1 contender's match next week. He also says that while on the subject of Alex Shelley, he wants him to come out right now and put his title on the line against Mr. Aguila. Flair's music hits and Nitro heads to commercial.

Matt Hardy walks into Low Ki's dressing room backstage. He tells Ki that although they both want Shelton Benjamin's US title, it'd be stupid to take each other out and give Benjamin an advantage. He says they should do their best to take him out during their tag match against him tonight, and try to earn a shot at SuperBrawl in two weeks. Ki waits a few seconds and shakes his hands before walking away.

When asked about how he feels on Low Ki and Matt Hardy's new alliance, he says he personally picked Roderick Strong as his tag partner and has no doubt the two can win tonight. He says there's a reason they call him the gold standard, before flashing his US title in the camera and leaving. (B)

http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j19/xpaulocaustx/ScottSteiner2.jpg

Scott Steiner comes down to the ring to cut a promo. He says that after he won the #1 contendership last night, he wants Booker T to come out right now and talk about how they're going to settle things. (B)

http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j19/xpaulocaustx/Ric_Flair2.jpghttp://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j19/xpaulocaustx/ScottSteiner2.jpg

Instead of Booker T, Ric Flair comes out to the ring to address Steiner. Flair tells him that due to Kevin Steen trying to attack both Steiner and Antonio Banks during the match, it should have been ruled a no-contest. He tells Steiner he's not next in line for a title shot and starts to walk away before Steiner whips Flair around, clotheslines him and starts to beat him down. (B)

http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j19/xpaulocaustx/Booker_T3.jpghttp://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j19/xpaulocaustx/Ric_Flair2.jpghttp://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j19/xpaulocaustx/ScottSteiner2.jpg

Booker T runs down to the ring, causing Steiner to bail. Booker gets on the mic and tells Steiner he doesn't back down from any challengers, and that if Steiner wants a re-match from 12 years ago that bad, he'll face him at Superbrawl for the WCW World Heavyweight Title. Booker's music hits and Nitro goes to commercial. (B+)

Chavo gets on the mic and says he just got word that he and Carly will be defending the titles at Superbrawl against both Londrick and The American Wolves, which is why they were smart enough to stay one step ahead and take out both teams tonight. He promises to retain the titles at Superbrawl before he yells a few things in Spanish and leaves. (C-)

http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j19/xpaulocaustx/TerryFunk7.jpg

A camera backstage catches Terry Funk in his dressing room. He finishes packing his bag and leaves, but not before throwing something in the garbage. The cameraman walks over to the garbage can and pans in to reveal Funk's wrestling boots. The announcers wonder allowed if this is the end of Terry Funk in the ring. (C+)

http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j19/xpaulocaustx/Antonio_Banks2.jpghttp://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j19/xpaulocaustx/Kevin_Steen.jpg

After the match, Kevin Steen runs into the ring from the crowd and attacks Banks from behind. After laying him out with the Package Piledriver, he grabs a mic. He says that people are talking about Scott Steiner and Antonio Banks, but no one is talking about Kevin Steen. He laughs at Banks and tells the crowd to look at him as an example. He got to be in a #1 contender's match last week, but here he is, pathetically lying on the ground in pain. Steen rips into Ric Flair and demands a title shot until his mic gets turned off and Nitro heads to commercial. (C+)

Low Ki and Matt Hardy vs Shelton Benjamin and Roderick Strong

Shelton Benjamin and Roderick Strong defeat Low Ki and Matt Hardy. After Low Ki tosses Shelton Benjamin, who he thinks is the legal man, out to the ouside, he turns around to get an End of Heartache from Roderick Strong, who picks up the victory. (B-)

http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j19/xpaulocaustx/BillGoldberg.jpghttp://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j19/xpaulocaustx/Roderick_Strong.jpghttp://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j19/xpaulocaustx/Scott_Hall266.jpghttp://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j19/xpaulocaustx/kevin_nash5.jpg

After the match, Kevin Nash, accompanied by Scott Hall, runs in through the crowd and attacks Goldberg, who's still sitting in the announce booth. He Irish-whips him into Hall, who clocks him with the ring bell. Back from celebrating his win on the ramp, Roderick Strong runs over and hits Nash from behind, but Hall and Nash quickly outnumber him and knock him to the mat. They toss him into the ring, where Nash lays Strong out with the Jackknife Powerbomb. He celebrates, but turns around to receive a huge spear from Goldberg, who's now recovered. Hall bails from the ring and has to watch as Goldberg picks Nash up for the Jackhammer. After Goldberg hits it, he and Strong celebrate and Nitro goes off the air. (B)

Wrestling Observer Newsletter

Week 4 of February, 2013

http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j19/xpaulocaustx/DaveMeltzer.jpg

Highlights:

BREAKING NEWS:

http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j19/xpaulocaustx/Dave_Batista.jpghttp://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j19/xpaulocaustx/Bobby_Lashley.jpg

- Dave Batista and Bobby Lashley are the newest free agent signings for WCW. In order to lock him, up Batista was offered a reported 2 million dollar, one year contract, with a 125k dollar signing bonus, and a promise of a very light in-ring schedule, so he can continue to focus on his MMA career. No word as of yet in regards to WWE's reaction on the situation, but you have to believe they're pretty upset at Dave Batista. At any rate, that contract will cripple WCW if their buyrates and TV numbers don't start to increase.

- Although still almost two weeks ago, the promo vid for WCW Superbrawl has been released:

- Superbrawl has been announced for Turner field in Atlanta, Georgia, in two weeks time. So far, the announced card is Booker T vs Scott Steiner for the World title and Londrick vs the American Wolves vs Carly Colon and Chavo Guerrero for the tag titles. The rest of the card is expected to be announced on Nitro next week.

- WWE Raw and TNA Impact both pulled the same ratings as last week with a 2.5 and 1.2, respectively. WCW Nitro, however, pulled a 1.0 for the first time. Word is the company is very pleased, but anxiously await the momentum to pay off in a big Superbrawl buyrate.

- This month's PPV buyrates have come out. WWE Elimination Chamber did only 116,000 buys, TNA Against All Odds did 23,000 and WCW Souled Out, announced only two weeks before it was held, did almost 20,000. To say WCW is pleased while WWE is not, is an understatement.

- John Cena, Triple H, Kofi Kingston and Damien Sandow have all re-signed multi-year deals with WWE.

Dragon Kid vs Tajiri

Dragon Kid kicks ass.

The Amazing Red and La Parka vs The Briscoes

The Briscoe Brothers are on my top five list of favorite tag teams. Therefore, they must win.

Antonio Banks vs Mark Jindrak

Mark Jindrak is someone who, I feel, had a lot of potential for success. Despite this, MVP gets the win.

John Hennigan vs Kenny Omega vs Shane Helms (WCW Cruiserweight Title)

... What? Kenny Omega deserves it. He once wrestled a blow up doll to a good match. And a nine year old girl. Think I'm joking? Look it up on Youtube.

---

Brian Kendrick vs Chavo Guerrero vs Davey Richards

Davey Richards is awesome on so many levels.

Homicide vs Koji Kanemoto

Give me Homicide, or give me death! Pun intended.

Harry Smith and Teddy Hart vs Ultimo Dragon and CIMA

I implore you to give Teddy Hart the win.

Jay Lethal vs Jimmy Yang vs Psicosis vs Sonjay Dutt

Alex Shelley vs Jushin Liger (WCW Television Title)

You seem to be going with an Alex Shelley push, so...

Colt Cabana, Roderick Strong and Shelton Benjamin vs Rhino, Low Ki and Matt Hardy

With Cabana getting the pinfall. Why? Cause he's Colt Cabana, that's why. Boom Boom, and all that. Though the mix and match team of Rhino, Low Ki and Matt Hardy would be interesting to see in action.

He introduces him as Koji Kanemoto, a decorated Japanese wrestling champion and his newest client. He starts to list some of Kanemoto's titles and career highlights, but is cut off by Homicide's music to start the match. (D-)

Homicide vs Koji Kanemoto

Koji Kanemoto defeats Homicide. Homicide gets the majority of the offense in during the latter of the match, but Kanemoto gets a lucky roll-up pin for a surprise victory. (D+)

Backstage, Bill Goldberg walks into Colt Cabana and Roderick Strong's dressing room and apologizes to Strong for getting him involved with Kevin Nash last week. Strong says it's no big deal, so Goldberg wishes him good luck in his main event tag match and leaves, with Cabana in awe of his presence. ©

Elsewhere backstage, Homicide is furious at letting Kanemoto get a lucky roll up pin in his debut against him. He throws road cases and smashes the catering table until recently inactive Terry Funk tries to stop him. Homicide takes his anger out on Funk by putting him through a table, and is only stopped by road agents breaking the brawl up. (D)

Harry Smith and Teddy Hart vs Ultimo Dragon and CIMA

Ultimo Dragon and CIMA defeat Harry Smith and Teddy Hart. During a ref bump, Colt Cabana runs down and get his revenge by interfering in the match. Cabana takes out Smith and Hart, allowing Dragon to hit a moonsault on Teddy for the pinfall. (D+)

After the match, a furious Harry Smith gets on the mic and demands Cabana and Roderick Strong face he and Teddy Hart in a tag match at Superbrawl. Cabana doesn't have a mic, but he nods his head approvingly, apparently confirming the match. (D)

http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j19/xpaulocaustx/JohnMorrison4.jpg

After a commercial break, Nitro comes back to see John Hennigan in the ring with a mic and his WCW Cruiserweight title. He says no matter who wins the upcoming fatal four way for the #1 contendership, he'll be leaving Superbrawl just like he did Souled Out: Champion. He then drops the mic to do guest commentary for the match. (C-)

As Jay Lethal is celebraing his victory, John Hennigan runs into the ring and hits him from behind with his Cruiserweight title. He waits Lethal out and clocks him one more time in the face for good measure before leaving. (C+)

http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j19/xpaulocaustx/Shelton_Benjamin.jpg

Backstage, Shelton Benjamin is being interviewed, and is relayed a message from Ric Flair's office saying he will have to defend his WCW United States title at Superbrawl against both Low Ki and Matt Hardy in a triple threat match. When asked if he's intimidated by having to face two men who have formed an alliance against him, Shelton just laughs and holds his US title up, implying that it speaks for itself, before walking away. As Shelley's music is still playing, Roddy Piper comes out with his client, Petey Williams and confronts Shelley from the ramp, with no mic, shouting at him. Shelley just lifts his TV title above his head while the crowd cheers and Nitro heads to commercial. (C+)

Backstage, Antonio Banks is attacked in his dressing room by Kevin Steen. Steen throws him through a stall door and tells Banks that although he respects him for having the balls to take him on at Superbrawl, he's an idiot if he thinks he has a chance. He shoves Banks' face with the sole of his boot before leaving. (C+)

Colt Cabana, Roderick Strong and Shelton Benjamin vs Rhino, Low Ki and Matt Hardy

In a good, long match, with some nice spots and drama, both three man teams fought to a draw after all six began to brawl on the outside, resulting in a double count-out. (B-)

After the match, WCW President of Talent Relations, Bill Goldberg, comes down to the ring to seperate the chaos. Due to the brawling workers, Goldberg doesn't notice Kevin Nash coming down the ramp with a chair to attack him. Nash spins Goldberg around, kicks him in the stomach and swings down to crack him over the head with the chair, but Roderick Strong shoves Goldberg out of the way and takes a disgusting chair shot to his head instead, knocking him out instantly. Nash drops the chair, and Goldberg and the rest of the workers shift their attention to Strong, laid out in the middle of the ring, until the referees call for help. Nitro ends as Strong is placed on a stretcher, and Nash is backed up the ramp by Goldberg and a few workers while they trade insults and check on Strong simultaneously. (B-)

Wrestling Observer Newsletter

by Dave Meltzer

Week 1 of March, 2013

http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j19/xpaulocaustx/DaveMeltzer.jpg

Highlights:

- The promo vid for WCW Superbrawl has been released:

- Although already cleared for competition, Dave Batista has yet to debut for WCW. Look out for him at Superbrawl, or the Nitro thereafter.

- Terry Funk vs Homicide in a hardcore match has been added to Superbrawl via WCW.com. Also announed was the subtraction of Roderick Strong from the card, making the scheduled tag match with Colt Cabana against Teddy Hart and Harry Smith a handicap match.

- Word is WCW has already started stocking up for Starrcade. Although they lost a ton of money their first month, (in the 7-figure range) they continue to set their sights on the biggest free agents in the industry, and are considering shelling out large sums of money for live bands, celebrities and a re-vamped stage at the show.

- Shelton Benjamin has been great in his performances the last few weeks and may see some time in the main event sooner rather than later.

- WCW wanted to use Ultimo Dragon and CIMA as their newest tag team, however the two don't seem to mesh well together. Sounds like the pair will be given one more chance together, and if things don't pan out, Dragon Kid will replace CIMA in the team.

- WWE, TNA and WCW all repeated last week's ratings with a 2.5, 1.2 and 1.0, respectively.

- Jack Evans has won WCW's PPW Triple Crown Championship from Ricochet.

- Austin Aries and Frankie Kazarian have won TNA's tag team titles from Joey Ryan and Christopher Daniels.

Don't worry Infinity King, all your favourite indie darlings like Colt Cabana and Davey Richards will get their big pushes very soon ;)

Also, Ubushi had a better match with the blowup doll than Omega! Endless Canadian destroyers!

http://youtu.be/qsMECSKzdSQ

lol, both were great. Can't wait, loving the dynasty so far.

I forgot to predict on one of the matches? ... In my defense, it was pretty late when I predicted...

The Bullies vs Ultimo Dragon & CIMA

I love Ultimo Dragon.

Chris Mordetzky vs Tajiri

WWE really dropped the ball with Chris, I think. He has a ton of potential.

The Amazing Red and La Parka vs The Briscoes

By virtue of The Briscoes being The Briscoes

Dragon Kid vs Jigsaw vs Kenny Omega vs Psicosis

I'm a Kenny Omega mark for the rest of eternity

Chris Harris vs Koji Kanemoto

The American Wolves vs Carly Colon and Chavo © vs Londrick (WCW Tag Team Titles)

I want The American Wolves to win, but I don't think they will... :(

Homicide vs Terry Funk (Hardcore match)

Oh Terry... I swear, my friend, you will never have your last match...

Colt Cabana vs Harry Smith and Teddy Hart

Why? Boom Boom. Colt Cabana. That's why.

Alex Shelley © vs Petey Williams (WCW Television Title)

TNA really needs to re-sign Petey Williams... Oh, uh... Alex Shelley ftw.

Kevin Steen vs Antonio Banks (#1 Contendership of WCW title)

Kevin Steen is my main man.

Jay Lethal vs John Hennigan © (WCW Cruiserweight Title)

A hard choice to make, as I like them both.

Low Ki vs Matt Hardy vs Shelton Benjamin © (WCW United States Title)

I've given up on Matt Hardy entirely - but not Low Ki. Difficult to decide who I prefer - Low Ki or Shelton Benjamin? - But I eventually went with Benjamin.

Booker T vs Scott Steiner (WCW World Heavyweight Title)

As much as I love Scott Steiner...:D

Good diary. I disagree with wath the other poster said. Don't slow down on the number of shows. Keep'em coming. I like to come to the boards every day and see that you posted several shows. Don't change that, keep up the good work.

I agree with this, especially for this type of diary, the interesting part is seeing how this company is going to do over time so in my opinion short quick posts are best.

Enjoyed reading this, one thing I would say though is it looks to me like you have too many titles for the size of your roster. Although I guess stuff like that is just down to personal preference so I will give you the benefit of the doubt, hopefully you'll prove me wrong. Good luck with this!

Two good points. Part of the reason I originally wanted to post quicker was to tell the longer story arc of the WWE vs WCW storyline, equal to the in-ring storylines. I might aim for 10-12 updates a week but I can always adjust if that's too much/not enough!

In regards to your second point, I definitely agree, but I just signed 5 or 6 roster guys, plus another few on the way and some call-ups so I can see it being sustainable. If not, we can always unify two titles!

Hogan thanks the fans for coming out in such amazing numbers, and announces the attendance of the event at almost 40,000. Hogan begins to talk about the hardships of re-starting the promotion and the road he took to do it, when he is cut off by the lights in the entire building shutting off. After a few seconds, the WCW jumbotron, pyrotechnics and lighting all start to malfunction, shooting yellow, pink and green fireworks and lights all over. The lights come back and Hogan stands in the ring confused, but he eventually walks back up the ramp. (A)

Being interviewed backstage is John Hennigan. Hennigan hypes his match against Jay Lethal and warns him that no man to step into the ring with him in WCW has beaten him yet. He invities Lethal to bring everything he's got tonight, because Hennigan's going to show him why he's the champion. (C+)

Harry Smith and Teddy Hart come out for their match against Roderick Strong and Colt Cabana, but Harry grabs a mic first. He announces that because of Kevin Nash's chair shot to Roderick Strong on Nitro, he has to miss tonight's event due to injury, and that the tag match has now been changed to a handicap match. Smith and Hart laugh as Harry throws down the mic. (D+)

Backstage, Kevin Steen cuts a promo on his #1 contender's match with Antonio Banks. Steen ridicules Banks' chances, and says he's going to prove tonight why they call him Mr. Wrestling; by leaving Antonio Banks lying on the ground, just like he did on Nitro. He smacks the mic away and walks off. (C+)

After the match, Roddy Piper grabs the title away from the referee, who was about to hand it to Alex Shelley and decks both he and Shelley. Piper and Petey Williams stomp Shelley until more referees come down to separate the melee. Williams lifts Shelley's TV title up to the crowd before throwing it at him and leaving. ©

Backstage, Low Ki is stretching in his dressing room, getting ready for his match. Matt Hardy walks in and Low Ki gets up to talk to him. Matt says tonight is the night where they finally take Shelton Benjamin out, and then go one on one for the US title. Matt extends his hand for Low Ki to shake, but Low Ki just stares him down. Matt finally walks away and Low Ki goes back to getting ready. ©

Backstage, Shelton Benjamin is being interviewed about his triple threat match in which he has to defend his title against both Low Ki and Matt Hardy. Kevin Nash and Scott Hall are once again spotted talking backstage. The cameraman does his best to not get caught and zooms in on the conversation. Nash says something about "tonight being the night", which causes Hall to laugh and give him the "Kliq" hand-bump. The two walk down a hallway and the camera can no longer hear them. (B-)

Backstage, Scott Steiner cuts a promo on Booker T. He says it doesn't matter if Booker beat him at the last Nitro twelve years ago for the title, because Steiner's already beat him for the WCW title at Mayhem, so this isn't a re-match; it's a rubber match. He promises he'll come out on top and finally settle the score after 13 long years. (B)

http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j19/xpaulocaustx/Booker_T3.jpg

Backstage Booker T is being interviewed. Booker says he didn't become a six-time WCW champion by letting chumps like Scott Steiner take the title off of him. He says Steiner's win over him at Mayhem thirteen years ago was a fluke, and even says his win over Steiner twelve years ago doesn't matter either. All that matters is tonight, and what happens between the bell being rung. Booker then asks Steiner if he can dig that, calls him a sucka, and leaves. (B+)

Back in the ring, WCW President of Talent Relations, Bill Goldberg, is standing with a microphone. He thanks the crowd for helping put on such a great event, and begins to introduce the main event of the evening, when Kevin Nash comes out on the ramp with a mic to interrupt him. Nash barely starts speaking when Scott Hall runs in through the crowd and hits Goldberg which a chair. Nash runs down the ramp and joins in on the beatdown as well, causing Goldberg to be grounded until an injured Roderick Strong, thought to be at home, runs down with a chair of his own, making Nash and Hall bail out of the ring. Although visibly injured, Strong grabs a mic and challenges Nash to a match, right here, right now. Nash, seeing that an injured Goldberg is being helped to the back and he may have a chance at an easy win, agrees as the fans cheer. (B-)

Post match, after Steiner recovers, he attacks a celebrating Booker T from behind and locks him in the Steiner recliner. Booker T, with no one around to stop Steiner, begins tapping out frantically while screaming in pain. The referee tries to pull Steiner's arms off of Booker, but obviously it has little effect. (B-)

http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j19/xpaulocaustx/ScottSteiner2.jpghttp://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j19/xpaulocaustx/Dave_Batista.jpg

All of a sudden, the crowd starts to cheer, and Steiner turns around to see Batista running down the ramp to save Booker. Steiner looks absolutely shocked, and tries to trade blows with Batista, but the Animal eventually hits a Spinebuster. The crowd cheers him on as he waits for Steiner to get back up, and Batista hits a huge powerbomb, laying him out. Superbrawl goes off the air as Batista celebrates to an electric crowd and Tony Schiavone and DDP wonder what this means for WCW. (B+)

Wrestling Observer Newsletter

by Dave Meltzer

Week 2 of March, 2013

http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j19/xpaulocaustx/DaveMeltzer.jpg

Highlights:

- WCW Spring Stampede has been announced to take place in one month's time, live from the First Niagara Center in WCW's first return to Buffalo since Fall Brawl 2000.

- WCW saw a marked improvement in their financial performance this month. While they still lost close to a million dollars, that's way down from January's loss of 2.5 million dollars. The company hopes to be turning a profit within the next two months or they could be in serious trouble.

- Kofi Kingston and Christian have re-signed long term deals with WWE. Although, WCW would have loved to have signed either, they didn't want to break their policy of poaching WWE talent. Daniel Bryan's contract is up for renewal as well, but the same result is expected.

- WCW Superbrawl did 23,500 buys, while TNA's Victory Road did just shy of 23,000. WCW brass is said to be thrilled with the news. Both companies await rival WWE's Wrestlemania buyrate in a couple weeks time.

- WCW is said to be pretty high on a few undercard workers, and are just waiting for Starrcade to pass and a few big names (Nash, Goldberg, Batista, etc..) to take on lighter schedules for a few months so these workers can get their much deserved pushes. Word is WCW is pretty high on Dragon Kid, Kenny Omega and The American Wolves, among others.

- There's been speculation over who was messing with Hulk Hogan during his angle at Superbrawl. With Batista already debuted, there's not many names left in the free agent word that could fit into the storyline.

- Speaking of Batista, his debut went over great with the live crowd, and the buzz around his debut helped Superbrawl to a great buyrate.

Because he's Kevin Steen. No more reason needed.

Nitro kicks off with WCW World Heavyweight Champion, Booker T standing in the ring. Booker cuts a promo about the hardships of coming out of retirement to not only win the WCW title, but to defend it against possibly his biggest rival in Scott Steiner. (B)

Steen tells Booker his sob story doesn't matter, because he'll be taking the title off of him at Spring Stampede where he plans to use his title shot. Booker T laughs at Steen and says he doesn't need to worry about a speedbump like him when he's already beaten him cleanly. Booker drops the mic and heads to the back with his WCW title as a furious Steen stands in the ring. (B)

The shot cuts to Ric Flair on the phone in his office. Scott Steiner barges in and flair motions to him he'll be a second. Steiner rips the cord out of Flair's phone and starts his rant. He tells Flair he didn't wait 13 years just to let Booker T take his moment from him in an instant. He demands Flair give him a re-match for the title tonight. Flair tells Steiner that Kevin Steen already became #1 contender last night at Superbrawl, and even then, Batista has a clause in his contract that his first match in WCW be for the World Title, therefore, he tells Steiner to "get in line". This doesn't sit well with Steiner who flips over Flair's office and gets in his face. Flair doesn't back down, and the two stare down, before Steiner walks off. (B)

Backstage, Hulk Hogan is hanging out in Eric Bischoff's office with him. Bischoff gets off the phoned and proudly tells Hogan "He signed the deal!". Hogan laughs with Bischoff and tells him "They're never gonna know what 'em." The two men's celebration is interrupted by a knock at the door, and a backstage worker hands Hogan an envelope. Hogan asks who it's from and she says she doesn't know, but "some guy" gave it to the front office. Hogan closes the door and opens the envelope to see a piece of paper, simply with "SEE YOU SOON." on it. Hogan angrily crumples the paper up, tosses it, and storms out of the office. (B+)

After the match, Petey Williams, Harry Smith and Teddy Hart beat down on Cabana and Shelley, while Roddy Piper grabs a mic. Piper announces that "Team Canada has arrived" and waves around his Canadian flag to a chorus of boos from the crowd. He spits on Alex Shelley as the group leaves. (D+)

Back from commercial, President of Talent Relations, Bill Goldberg, is standing in the ring with a mic. He says Roderick Strong is at home with a concussion, but Strong asked him to send someone a message. With that, he calls out Kevin Nash, who eventually saunters out. Goldberg says that while he tried to talk him out of this, if Kevin Nash wants to take Roderick Strong on at Spring Stampede, then Strong wants the match. Kevin Nash laughs and nods his head in agreement, so Goldberg tells the crowd it's on! (C+)

Back from commercial, Batista's music hits to a huge cheer from the crowd. WCW's newest superstar comes to the ring with a mic in-hand. Batista thanks the crowd for welcoming him so nicely to the company, and promises he'll pay their faith back by winning the WCW title for them. Next, he addresses Scott Steiner and his actions at Superbrawl by telling Steiner that if he wants to pick on someone, then to pick on someone his own size, and being that Batista is the only guy around his size, he has to take him on.

Scott Steiner comes out, but doesn't look to talk. He rushes the ring and starts brawling with Batista, however, just like last night, Batista eventually gets the upper hand and sets Steiner up for the Batista bomb. This time, Steiner lowblows Batista, which sends him right to the mat. As Batista tries to recover, Steiner grabs a chair from ringside, and upon getting back in the ring, starts to hit Batista's legs, arms and back with it. Eventually, WCW commissioner Ric Flair comes out to stop the attack and tells Steiner if he doesn't stop right now, he'll be fired from WCW. Steiner gets out of the ring and starts angrily walking towards Flair. He grabs Flair's suit and is about to swing at him when Batista is heard in the ring from the mic. Though hurt, Batista manages to spit out a few words and tells Steiner that he'll put his guaranteed title shot up against Steiner on Nitro in two weeks, just to get at him. Steiner lets go of Flair and accepts, as Nitro goes off the air and Tony and DDP hype this big news. (B+)

Wrestling Observer Newsletter

by Dave Meltzer

Week 3 of March, 2013

http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j19/xpaulocaustx/DaveMeltzer.jpg

Highlights:

- WCW has been doing very well with their attendances lately, however, while much of this can be attributed to them picking up steam as of late, the company has been selling tickets much cheaper than one would expect in an effort to sell out the arenas they've been booking for events.

- WCW brass seems to be pretty happy with how Booker T and Kevin Steen's original feud went as they're already heading back to the rematch. Whether they're building to a blow-off match at Starrcade, or using it to leapfrog into a different storyline is yet to be seen, but regardless, it's nice to see Kevin Steen being used at the main event level.

- WCW is reportedly not happy with how the Steiner/Batista dark match went down on Nitro after the cameras stopped rolling. Apparently they might call an audibly on having them have a 1v1 match at Spring Stampede and may have it at Starrcade instead where it can be buried under bigger matches.

- In WWE news, Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins have become WWE Tag Team champs by defeating Titus O'Neil and Darren Young at WrestleMania 29.

- WWE and TNA, for the third week in a row, repeated last week's ratings with a 2.5 and 1.2 for Raw and Impact, respectively. WCW Nitro, however, jumped up to a 1.2 for the first time ever, obviously feeling the wave of momentum from Superbrawl. WCW is said to be ecstatic at this news, of course.
