In mid 2005, after showcasing wrestling several times on their network, including WWF Tough Enough a few years prior, MTV decided that they would help launch and fund a wrestling promotion and give them a television slot on a national network. This ground breaking announcement shocked many, most promotions struggle to ever get to the level of having national television exposure while a brand new one was soon to be getting this opportunity. Many executives in MTV positioned themselves to be involved with the promotion only for them to all soon drop out due to them having the lack of passion, knowledge or desire to get the promotion up and running.

By late 2005 many thought the idea had been dropped but that was until MTV reached out to former WWF superstar Savio Vega, who had been very successful in booking wrestling events in Puerto Rico prior to his WWF career. Vega recognised the huge opportunity being offered to him by MTV and accepted, promising to bring the most entertaining, thrilling action and wrestlers to the MTV network. By late 2005 it was announced that Wrestling Society X would start in January of 2006, 30 minutes every Tuesday night in the Graveyard time-slot. Hardly the exposure the WWE or TNA are getting but still better than any indy promotion.

Big Vision Entertainment showed a lot of interest in the show and it was soon announced that the 1st series would be developed by the company. Vega announced via the internet that WSX would be a hardcore based promotion which fitted well with the style of programming MTV usually features. With everything set 2006 is certainly going to be a wild year for wrestling, is Wrestling Society X destined for success or will it be an embarrassing fail for MTV and wrestling as a whole?

Sounds like a cool idea. What does this mean for your other 3 diaries though??

Still occasionally playing the nWo/WCW game, just taking a break from the diary but will go back to it at some point. Hoping this one lasts longer than the other ones since i'm several months in.
