This will start in July 2013 of my USPW game and if all goes to plan will contain 5 pay-per-views and 19 episodes of American Wrestling finishing at the end of November. The reason should becomecome clear fairly quickly (if the title hasn't given it away).

The first show will be the biggest show in the USPW calendar Independence Day Slam, the last being the second biggest, Thanksgiving Thunder (possibly the TV show after).

New Arrivals

5 new workers have debuted in the past 6 months, 3 active wrestler and 2 ringside personality. This has been part of USPW's new signing policy, ensuring that each worker has a clearly defined position and role before signing with the company.

Debuting to much anticipation following a series of hype videos, Cage was introduced to the USPW audience by Sam Strong. Cage entered the company with his girlfriend, the actress, Blonde Bombshell and talked about how he had in his hand contract offers for every major promotion in the world. He told Strong that he is bigger than USPW, but that also means he's bigger than this industry. He disrespected Strong and the USPW fans before signing the USPW contract claiming that the next wrestling superstar had arrived. He quickly recruited Charlie Thatcher as his personal bodyguard.

He debuted in ring, against the USPW Champion Nicky Champion and continued with his brash, cocky attitude until he won both the TV and National Champions, from Tribal Warrior and Java respectively in the matter of 4 days. This feat only proved to reaffirm his self-confidence and during a conflict with Sam Strong, Commissioner Doom gave Roger Cage a shot at the World Championship. He lost, despite interference from his entourage, but was granted a rematch against Champion when he and Charlie Thatcher defeated the team of Chris Caulfield and Nicky Champion.

He lost the return match, a Last Man Standing, but continued to complain, especially following the loss of his National Championship and has since switched his attention to the Tag Team Championships along with his bodyguard Charlie Thatcher. He is firmly on Sam Strong's bad list and has constantly shown unparalleled disrespect to the owner of USPW.

Appearing only occasionally, Dread joined USPW in February, brought in by Chris Caulfield to counteract the effect of Shane Sneer at ringside. Acting as an enforcer, Dread has shown up whenever Sneer has got too involved in the matches, and has accompanied the group to ringside on various occasions.

Joining the promotion from the SWF in April, Atom Smasher debuted to even the odds in “The War”. Debuting out of a nuclear chamber pouring with green mist, Atom Smasher has displayed superhuman strength and excellent durability during his early run with the company, beating names such as T-Rex and Jumbo Jackson while still having yet to be pinned or made to submit. He is part of Team USPW going into Independence Day Slam's "Final Battle".

Debuting as Captain USA's partner to face The Cold Warriors, Captain USA II is firmly under the wing of Captain USA, learning to connect with the crowd while operating a smash mouth, hard-hitting style in their tag team “The American Patriots”. Quickly becoming a Tag Team Champion, Captain USA II is seen as a potential future star of USPW.

Independence Day Slam Preview...

<div style=" border: 2px solid black";">

Having beaten everybody put in his path from Tyson Baine to Roger Cage to T-Rex, Shane Sneer, had once last throw of the dice. Following a victory in a 3 way against Enygma and Tyson Baine, Champion was brutally attacked by Bruce The Giant, who hadn't been seen since the previous year's Thanksgiving Thunder.

Giant was later revealed was under the command of Shane Sneer. Champion wanted to get his hands on The Giant, who Sneer said would only appear at the pay-per-view and for the World Championship. Champion agreed. As Sneer took control of “The War” he became more and more power hungry and his Corporation destroyed Nicky, as Sneer claimed that USPW would be his when Bruce The Giant took the World Championship.

Cage War – Losing Team Must Disband

An 8 month “war” must come to an end at the biggest pay-per-view of the year, with 1 on 1, 2 on 2, 3 on 3 and 4 on 4 matches in the back catalogue the 5 vs. 5 was announced when the war became out of control. The make will take place in a cage. Sam Strong announcing the match only made things worse and The Sneer Corporation went on to dominate, alienating and taking out each of their opponents. As they stood tall the next week, Enygma, Caulfield, Force, Justice & Atom Smasher came out in a show of unity and stood up to The Corporation. As the chaos continued, Strong announced a no contact clause for the final week. He later added that one of the groups would no longer be able to work together as the losing team must disband!

</div>

<div style=" border: 2px solid black";">

Sam Strong has also promised on the pay-per-view to make an announcement that will change USPW and the wrestling industry for ever. He said that the biggest pay-per-view is the only fitting platform for such an event.

</div>

<div style=" border: 2px solid black";">

After months of chasing Alicia will finally get a fair shot at Gorgon as Cherry Bomb, who has cost Alicia numerous title shots is barred from ringside. It has also been agreed that this is Strong's last chance to get a shot.

</div>

<div style=" border: 2px solid black";">

In Cage's first six months with USPW he won the National and Television Championships within 4 days of each other, challenged twice for the World Championship and got under the skin of Sam Strong. Despite his rise, Cage is never satisfied and the 'big league star' is looking to hold his third USPW championship. Having won the belts from the anti-American team of The Cold Warriors, The American Patriots, consisting of Captain USA & Captain USA II have found their next challengers and have ensured that their hard working, blue-collar style will come out on top against the "style over substance" of Roger Cage.

</div>

<div style=" border: 2px solid black";">

Having boiled under for months, Datsun finally snapped at Valentine's jibes and challenged him to a match at the pay-per-view. After a number of attacks and assaults, Valentine agreed to the match and promised to make the “average” Freddie Datsun realise that being “Everyman” isn't enough when you face “
the
man”.

Independence Day Slam...

The show opens with a pan around ringside and a red, white and blue firework display. A hype video then plays on the big screen...

Nicky Champion, Bruce The Giant, Team USPW, Alicia Strong, The Sneer Corporation and more are shown on the screen in various position and poses. A voice-over talks about this show being the biggest show of the year. The video promotes the main event for the show with various clips from the last year including Nicky Champion holding the championship up after his numerous victories until last month when he was attacked by Bruce The Giant while doing so. There's is then various clips of chaos between the two warring factions. The clips show brawls all over area as it puts over that 10 combustible element will be locked into a cage that will become 'smaller and smaller' as the match goes on.

Following the video, commentators Emily McQueen and Danny Jillefski are stood in the ring.

DJ:
We are here! The night we wait all year for has arrived, welcome to Independence Day Slam!

EM:
That's right and this pay-per-view is primed to deliver in a big way. Your main event see the return of the largest athlete on this planet Bruce The Giant, facing the best wrestler in the world, as illustrated by the World Championship he holds – Nicky Champion!

DJ:
And a huge 5 on 5 match to take place inside a huge steel cage, as the war reaches it's climax as the team dubbed “Team USPW” take on The Sneer Corporation!

EM:
What's more this truly will be the end of the war, and will spell dominance and victory for one side, as one of the groups in this match will have to disband leaving one side to take control of USPW.

DJ:
And that is not all, we have some great action including an, and I quote, “industry changing announcement” from Sam Strong.

EM:
But opening up is Alicia Strong's
final
chance to become Women's Champion as she faces the dominant Gorgon.

In the back Cherry Bomb is seen screaming and shouting as Commission Doom stands close by with a handcuff on. Bomb is grabbed by a number of security guard and locked into the handcuff with Doom. She continues to kick up a fuss as Doom stands firm.

<div style=" border: 2px solid black";">

The match began with Strong going straight after Gorgon with months of built up frustration. Strong went at Gorgon but had little effect as Gorgon weathered the storm. Gorgon later took control but eventually lost the match when Alicia hit her with a running Enziguri to win the championship.

Winner:
Alicia Strong

New Women's Champion!

</div>

After the match Alicia Strong holds the championship close to her chest and celebrates the victory, becoming a 4 time champion.

DJ:
A delighted Alicia Strong right there, a year since she held that championship and you can see what that means.

In the back Chris Caulfield, The Force, James Justice and Enygma sit in a locker room. Chris Caulfield is talking about how tonight will change the landscape of USPW forever. He says that USPW is his home, like it is home to each of this partners. James Justice then gets to his feet. He says tonight can't be about strategy, tonight is about passion and the love they have for USPW. He points out that each of them have a common goal, including Atom Smasher who is not in the room. Force says tonight they reach out and grab their destiny and save the USPW from a dystopian future where Shane Sneer rules the roost. The four look rallied up as Enygma stands and nods his head.

DJ:
And Team USPW clearly have the mentality, but will they be able to match the cohesion of Sneer and co. We know that he runs a tight ship, a ship which features some of the strongest men in the world.

EM:
Notably Atom Smasher was not there, could his absence be a sign that Team USPW aren't quite on the same level as each other as a team.

DJ:
Atom Smasher has shown machine like strength and ability to take punishment since he joined the company, I wouldn't worry about him in the Cage War tonight!

<div style=" border: 2px solid black";">

An even match throughout eventually turned in Peter Valentine's favour when Giant Redwood at ringside got involved and distracted Datsun allowing PV to take control. Valentine eventually won with the Heart Breaker.

Winner:
Peter Valentine

</div>

After the match, Giant Redwood who was at ringside enters the ring and pushes the referee out of the way. He then holds Valentine's hand up for an extended period while gloating to the fans.

Brock Cornish stands in the back, joined by Roger Cage, Blonde Bombshell and Charlie Thatcher who surround him.

BC:
Tonight, the biggest pay-per-view of the year, I stand here with...

[Cage grabs the microphone and signal for Thatcher to eject Brock.]

RC:
He stands here at the biggest pay-per-view with the biggest star in the business. I am TV Champion. I was and should be National Champion. I should be the World Champion and I will be a Tag Team Champion. I am a champion. Championships mean pay-per-view, pay-per-views mean money and I am USPW's biggest money star. Tonight, I get richer... [he turns to Thatcher and Bombshell] Let's go.

<div style=" border: 2px solid black";">

Roger Cage and Captain USA II did most of the work in this match, but the story came towards the end as Charlie Thatcher beat-down Captain USA. USA eventually made it to his corner and brought in II who came in like a house of fire and took down both Thatcher and Cage. USA II hit Thatcher with a Spear sending him into the ropes at which point, unbeknownst to USA II, Cage tagged in. As Thatcher came back, II hit a big Belly to Belly and went to pin Thatcher, only for the referee to not count. Confused, II got up and turn into an End Credit (Reverse STO) from Roger Cage which got him the victory.

Winners:
Roger Cage & Charlie Thatcher

New Tag Team Champions!

</div>

DJ:
And another title change here tonight in, let say, typical Roger Cage style.

EM:
Cheated and got away with it, as long as you do both parts correctly you've got a winning formula.

In the back Sam Strong is seen pacing back and forth in his office, Nicky Champion is sat down getting ready for his match. Champion asks Strong if he's okay and Strong tells Champion he'll be fine, telling Champion to focus on his match...

EM:
Strong looking distracted tonight, do you think that has anything to do with his announcement later tonight.

DJ:
It may well do, but for now I'm focused on the action.

<div style=" border: 2px solid black";">

An unannounced match which was used to get a few names onto the card. An average back and forth match, Jones got the win a small package on Running Wolf.

Winners:
Andre Jones & The Cold Warriors

</div>

A video then plays displaying highlights from the last eight months, covering the following:

- The Sneer Corporation's rise to dominance in USPW, causing The Force, Enygma and James Justice to come together and fight them.

- The Corporation's continued dominance due to their numbers advantage.

- Caulfield's unlikely union with the 3 to colourful characters to fight off TSC.

- Dread being brought in to act as a counter balance to Shane Sneer's continued interference.

- 1 vs. 1, 2 vs. 2, 3 vs. 3 matches, and Sneer once again taking the advantage, adding Baine to The Corporation.

- Atom Smasher's début out of a “nuclear chamber” with green mist pouring out and his feats of power and resilience since joining.

- The 4 vs. 4 match, the ongoing brawls and Sam Strong's announcement that a 5 vs. 5 would take place in the cage.

- The later reveal that the losing team would have to “surrender” and never team again!

In the back, Sneer stood in the back surrounded by his Corporation, Brock Cornish can be seen barely fitting on the screen.

Sneer:
Tonight history is made, tonight my dream comes true. Look around me, just look! I have the most dominant, the most powerful group of wrestlers ever put together I have Jumbo Jackson, a pair of Titans and two Towers of Power. And what do they have? A bunch of superheroes. This isn't a comic book this is real life and believe me this is about to get incredibly real for Team what? Team USPW? We are the true Team USPW because we represent the future of this company, a future that isn't going to be very comfortable for “Team USPW”, one where I, not Sam Strong, call the shots.

This coming Wednesday will be the start of my USPW, and when Bruce The Giant wins the World Championship this whole place will fall right at my feet.

DJ:
A highly confident Shane Sneer and looking at his team of heavyweight monsters I'm not sure anyone will disagree with him.

EM:
Not in front of his team anyway – I've truly never seen anything as frightening as them. I'd be surprised if the ring can hold all ten of these guys weight.

Before the match Shane Sneer's music hits and he walks down to ringside alone and takes a ringside seat. He looks smug and confident until the music of Dread plays. Dread walks to the ring and sits next to Shane as his face drops and tries to edge away.

DJ:
Looks like Shane's got company. And Brock Cornish is in the ring to explain this match...

BC:
The following is a 5 on 5 Cage War, at 2 minute intervals new members will enter, the first of which will be randomly selected. Falls will count after all 10 men have entered and the first fall will decide the winner. The team that loses this match will be forced to disband. With out further a do... introducing first, representing The Sneer Corporation – Jumbo Jackson!

Jackson makes his way to the ring and stares down Dread while shaking hands with Shane Sneer, after slight hesitation he enters the cage, sizing up the structure before he does. At the top of the ramp a huge chamber stands, as green mist pours out of it the door swing open and Atom Smasher makes his way to the ring, ignoring his surroundings...

BC:
And his opponent, from Sin City – the Radioactive Wrecking Machine, Atom Smasher!

Smasher enters the ring and stands face to face with Jumbo Jackson.

<div style=" border: 2px solid black";">

The Sneer Corporation vs. Team USPW

Steel Cage War!

The match starts with Jumbo Jackson and Atom Smasher and it's starts explosively, within 40 seconds Smasher hits his Mushroom Cloud move on Jumbo Jackson. He is however, unable to pin Jackson and takes control until the 2 minute mark.

Muscles comes in but takes a right hand from Atom Smasher who continues to control the match until Jackson is revived enough to use the numbers advantage. Just as it seems that way, it's time for the next entrant.

The Force comes and the match completely break into two brawls with Force and Jackson on one side and Muscles and Atom Smasher on the other – surprisingly the less fresh of both sides are the ones in control.

The first tag team in the match and The Towers of Powers go straight after Atom Smasher who they seem to get the better of. By this point The Sneer Corporation are in full control, with Sneer's reaction at ringside being the best indicator.

Justice comes in and helps Atom Smasher out of the corner and goes to Jackson in the other corner. His wild man style does him no favours as it is soon back to a state of Sneer domination AND time for them to once again take control.

The biggest and baddest of Sneer's clients make his way to the ring and adds to the Sneer Corporation domination serving as a watchmen for any comebacks to stamp them out immediately, as the timer counts down for the next entrant.

Enygma speed's to the ring and engages in a brawl with Tyson Baine taking the fight to the big man and trying to get back the momentum. Enygma took Baine of his feet with a big clothesline. Enygma then began to hit the rest of The Sneer Corporation with shots, giving Team USPW a bit more footing in the match.

As Rex is about to make his way into the cage, Sneer calls him over and tries to give him a chair. Instead, Dread steps up and grabs it off Sneer, after a small commotion Rex gets into the cage and it's time for the final entrant as Sneer's team continue to dominate.

Like Rex earlier before entering the cage Caulfield is called over to ringside, this time by Dread who gave Caulfield the chair he'd taken from Sneer to Caulfield. Caulfield shook Dread's hand and entered the ring. Caulfield began swinging and took shots at T-Rex, Jackson, Muscles and Rushmore before being hit from behind by Baine with a huge axe handle. The match then evened out and became an all out brawl with no clear advantage for either team. After a while the chair was mangled to the point it was unusable and the cage was being used as a weapon.

At one point, when The Sneer Corporation had taken a slight advantage Jumbo Jackson and The Towers of Power threw Atom Smasher face first into the cage, busting him wide open. The 'rush of blood' saw Smasher take control of all three men, clashing both the Towers' heads together and hitting Jackson with a flurry of punches. Taking control, he threw Jackson into the ropes, but Jackson ducked a clothesline and came back with his own which Smasher himself ducked. As Jackson rebounded Smasher threw Jackson at great speed into the cage wall and as Jackson turned, Smasher hit him with a huge Lariat. With the rest of the team able to keep The Corporation at bay Smasher got the victory for his team.

Winners:
Atom Smasher & Enygma, Chris Caulfield, The Force, James Justice

</div>

DJ:
Wow, I thought that would never end...

EM:
A war! A war! There is no other war to describe what we've just seen, nobody who witnessed that will ever be the same. Shane Sneer's reaction says it all...

Sneer kneels in the middle of the ring with his hands in his head. He is rocking back and forth and not responding to any of his team. He is eventually carried away by The Titans.

Enygma, Chris Caulfield, The Force & James Justice celebrate in the ring as Atom Smasher walks up the ramp. As he reaches the top, blood pours down his face and he signals a thumbs up to the group who continue to celebrate with the fans.

DJ:
And there is still a main event to come, this is why Independence Day Slam is the pay-per-view event of the year.

EM: And we don't wait around, lets look at the events that got us to this point...

A video package plays showing Nicky Champions three World Championship wins to date. It puts over that through "hard work and determination he fulfilled the American Dream" and became a Champion. The package then focuses on his current run, showing his hand being raised time and again, only for the last one to show him attacked as the referee raises him hand, and the brutal beat down that followed. There are then clips from Bruce The Giant's video packages and Shane Sneer's rants before ending on the point that tonight is all about the World Championship.

We then see Brock Cornish in the back. Shane Sneer is seen visibly upset in the background.

BC:
Well, I'm supposed to be interviewing Mr. Sneer at this time, but as you can see he is in no position to be interviewed.

Cornish walks off screen which leaves Sneer stood in the back.

Sneer:
No. No, no, no. Why? We had it, I had it... it was so close, this whole place. It would've been mine.

Bruce The Giant walks on screen, dwarfing Shane Sneer. He puts his hand on Sneer's neck.

BTG:
Shane. This is not over. I'm taking that gold.

Sneer looks up and nods at Bruce, he still has a look of sadness on his face as they leave.

Now Brock is set up elsewhere, with Nicky Champion.

BC:
Well, I'm here hoping to get an interview with the man to my left, the USPW World Champion – Nicky Champion! What is the game plan Nicky? You've faced huge men before, towers, titans, monsters but nobody is a big and powerful as Bruce The Giant. How do you intend to approach this match?

NC:
Brock, this year you've seen it all with me, like each and everyone of these people here in Alabama. They've seen me face the big, the bad, the mean and each time I've come out on top. One way or another I've kept this [he point to the championship] I've kept the most sought after prize in pro-wrestling. Tonight, like never before, I face the biggest, the baddest, the strongest, the meanest and the scariest.

And in my heart I feel one thing. What I feel isn't fear, nor is it doubt. I feel like all this means is that I have to step up my game, like I have done before and like I will again. Tale of the tape, the history books he's got me beat – he's the favourite no doubt. But what I have inside is the belief, I have the support of the greatest fans anybody could ever wish for and tonight, the biggest show of the year, means that I have to bring 100%, I have to bring all I have a leave it in that ring. Because if I don't, this championship is going to Bruce.

It's really that simple kill or be kill because if I put one foot wrong Bruce can
and will
destroy whatever is put in his path. But to keep this championship, so will I.

<div style=" border: 2px solid black";">

The match started very cautiously from both sides, with the commentators putting over that one mistake could mean the match would be over in an instant. Champion was the first to take a risk as he began working on the legs of Bruce The Giant. The tactic didn't seem to work and Bruce The Giant soon took control, hitting Champion with some clubbing blows.

Taking control, Nicky Champion struggled to find any offence for a good spell in the middle of the match, but gradualyl began to take shots at the legs of Bruce, displaying a much quicker and athletic style than we are used to from Nicky. Champion continued to try to gain momentum, but that was stopped when Bruce The Giant locked him into a Full Nelson.

As Champion faded it seemed there was no way out and the referee lifted his arm once, twice, three times but on the third time Champion would not let his hand fall. Looking to feed off the crowd Nicky stamped his foot in the ring and to the surprise of the commentators was able to power out of Full Nelson. He fought out and peppered The Giant with punches which knocked him back against the ropes. Nicky ran into Bruce with a clothesline and knocked The Giant to the outside. Bruce landed on his feet but was shaken, and was even more so when Nicky took a rare trip to the top rope, jumping to the outside and hitting Bruce with a flying bionic elbow. Nicky rolled Bruce into the ring and followed him back in. Nicky bounced Bruce into the ropes and went for the running forearm Hawkeye Hammer which Bruce ducked. Bruce came back off the ropes and hit a Nicky with a shoulder tackle that sent him into the ropes. As Nicky rebounded he grabbed Bruce The Giant and hit him with a Powerslam, reminiscent to the one Sam strong once gave him many years a go.

Nicky fell back and held his back, but eventually came back and bounced off the ropes with a pointed elbow drop, which eventually brought Bruce to his feet. As Bruce staggered back, Nicky pushed him into the ropes and went to bounce into the opposite ropes when Shane Sneer got on the apron and stopped him in his tracks. Champion noticed and was able to put on the brakes on and as Bruce sprang back at him, Nicky pushed him into Sneer, knocking Sneer off the ropes. As Bruce The Giant staggered back, seemingly on spaghetti legs Nicky bounced into the ropes and hit him with the Hawkeye Hammer (Running Upright-Forearm Smash) for the 3 count!

Winner:
Nicky Champion

</div>

After the match the referee raised Nicky Champion's hand in victory and he celebrated with the crowd.

As his music dies down the music of Sam Strong hits and he makes his way to the ring.

Once in the ring he hugs Nicky and calls for a microphone.

He asks his daughter Alicia to come out to the ring and she does with the Women's Championship over her shoulder. Strong then whispers in both of their ears off microphone before addressing the crowd.

Strong:
Look at this [he points to both Nicky & Alicia] – I could not be happier or prouder of you guys. This is why we're all in this business, my daughter, one of my best friends in the world stood here in front of me as World Champions. It really takes me back. Reminds me of when I was running around like you guys.

Anyway, like I said, I'm out here to make an announcement but I've gotta thank everybody here, watching at home or just anyone who supports USPW however they can. You guys are the reason I've been in this business for 50 years. And that's what the announcement is about, you see I look around and I see Nicky and my daughter and how my promotion is doing and I couldn't be happier – USPW is in a position where if we're not already there, we have the base to become the best wrestling company in the world.

And this is something I've been thinking of for so long and I know it's the right choice. So coming with November, following Thanksgiving Thunder I will end my 50 years on screen and retire from wrestling... [Champion and Alicia are shocked]

I've spoke to my good friend Rip Chord and we've got all sorts planned, but believe me I'll be staying around to help Alicia and Nicky and I'll be watching just like all you fans week in, week out. I'm sure I'll have a lot to say between now and then but tonight I have to ask you to give it up for the guys and girls, whether I like them or not, who've battled in that ring for all of us... thank you very much and let's also give the champions Alicia and Nicky a hand. [strong leads the applause as the pay-per-view finishes.]

Sam Strong's Announcement...

Sam Strong's Announcement Was...

http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t112/thetramp_photos/USPW_13/SamStrong_zps3c1aa165.png

Last night at USPW's Independence Day Slam, Sam Strong announced that he would be retiring from the busniess at the end of November, following the promotion's Thanksgiving Thunder pay-per-view. He delivered the announcement following the main event as he stood in the ring with his daughter Alicia Strong and his protege Nicky Champion, both holding their respective World Championships.

We contacted USPW and spoke to Sam Strong personally, and he has agree to conduct a rare interview with us, the interview will take place this weekend and will be up before the next American Wrestling broadcast at the latest.

Social media has also been a buzz with the news, with many well wishers in the business paying tribute to Sam Strong's career.</div>

This looks sweet. Always like the idea of telling a particular story arc for a promotion, which seems to be the intent here with the last days of Sam. Have a reader here, Legend.

Thanks, I'd heard the idea of a definitive start and end and I've wanted to try it for a while. I think going between USPW's two biggest shows with a clear idea where I'm going will be helpful in keeping me motivated to complete the 4 months, rather than something open ended where I'm not sure where I'm going.

Although I am not a fan of USPW this looks interesting so I will be reading!

I have a love/hate relationship with USPW. If they came to life and were real I'd hate them, but for that reason I love booking them. Especially trying to keep all the old guys who it would be much wiser to get rid of relevant, and continuing the USPW tradition of burying Darryl Devine. I even brought back Captain USA to the ring and gave him a match at the biggest pay-per-view and a tag titles run, while Devine sat at home
:p

I love USPW personally, so you've got my attention!

How is Roger Cage handling USPW, pray tell? I've always figured Shark Cage would do best in USPW together or separately.

I love them too in a weird way.

Cage I made a big deal of him coming in and pushed him with Sam Strong and Nicky Champion, where he's played as a thorn in their side even when he's not involved with them really. I gave him a test and he did well in a TV main event, so I pushed him into a main event PPV program, he was top of who's hot and a main eventer at one point. His record is 17 wins 2 draws 5 loses (mostly his partner/bodyguard Thatcher taking the falls in the loses), and he's fallen back to Upper Midcarder and lost a bit of momentum (which is very fair since he's back going for tag titles rather than World.)

Everything he's done is in the post above "new arrivals", but in terms of rating his promos even when he wasn't popular have been suprisingly good, even though I know how good he is. He was my first signing (same day as Blonde Bombshell I think) and I played off the SWF usually signing him thing to boost his ego. He thankfully got over even quicker than I'd hoped and at this point I believe he's my 3rd most over heel having held all the championships beside the World. He's also hasn't developed any ego or anything which is good. If you have any more specific questions let me know :)

I'd love to have Sammy The Shark in the company and I'm trying to find a role/character for him and I wouldn't be surprised if he's signed in the course of the 4 months. I've always really liked Shark more than Cage before this game, perhaps because he's always available. He's on a list of 10 or so guys who, when I find the space, I'll be looking to bring in. I had a couple of ideas for him early in Cage's run but Cage's rise means I don't feel he could be brought in on his level, but we'll see :)

Good to know I've got your attention.

How well did his solo matches rate on average + highest? How is it in relation to his pop? I've been mulling a Shark Cage debut to USPW in a dynasty I'm formulating (centering around the near-forgotten PJ Strong!), having them work with Natural Storm, Succession, and a couple of other young blood teams.

Bring him in as the Jannetty to Cage's Michaels. The tag team partner/best friend left behind along with Cheerleader Nicki (who I always promote as Cage's girlfriend rebounding on Sammy when he gets signed by SWF) when he got to the big time.

I'd sign him, have an initial face off between the two where it's obvious Sammy still holds a grudge but isn't interested in rehashing the subject just yet. Have him climb up the card with wins over a number of lesser talent and Sam Strong noting his raw talent a couple of interactions. Cage gets infuriated that Sammy is getting more props than him, the man whose single-handedly changed the face of USPW forever (FOREVER!) and challenges him to a match. Sammy accepts ... if Cage puts up his titles on the line. A confident Cage accepts and Sammy wins the titles. Cue the start of a nice long blood feud between both men.

I'm a few weeks down the line now, but he's currently at a C popularity. His average match is also C (which is good compared to most) I'm not sure how to check just solo matches, but his average with Thatcher as his partner is also C. His highest rating was 2 B rated matches against Nicky Champion for the World Championship. One of which was a Last Man Standing (and the better rated IIRC.)

I really love that idea, I wasn't sure about bringing him in interacting with Cage but that really works well. Doesn't go too much into their history, and is almost the exact opposite of Cage's rise (Shark working hard, Cage putting himself in the big spot - Strong hates Cage, likes Shark) and plays on Cage's ego, it's perfect... the only problem is it's your idea and you've laid it out for all to see :p I think I might hold off his debut and take your idea for when I play on after November.

Excellent! I was just looking over your last USPW effort the other day and thought it was about time we had another 20LEgend diary! I haven't read the show yet, so I can't provide any feedback yet, but I'm just glad to see it's here at all! :D

TEW.com interview Sam Strong...

Excellent! I was just looking over your last USPW effort the other day and thought it was about time we had another 20LEgend diary! I haven't read the show yet, so I can't provide any feedback yet, but I'm just glad to see it's here at all! :D

I've been reading it back too, while setting this up. I'm also about to start a collaboration diary with christmas_ape, and the planning for that got me in the mood for taking on USPW again :)

<div style=" border: 2px solid black";">
TotalExtemeWrestling.com

Having announced his intentions to retire at USPW's Thanksgiving Thunder, Sam Strong sat down for a rare interview with TotalExtremeWrestling.com. While protecting the product, Sam was very honest and gave an open interview with the website. The following is a transcript of the interview which is also available in our audio section. The interview was conducted by our writer Billy Michaels.

BM:
Thank you for taking the time to sit down with us. The first thing I'd like to ask is regarding what has appeared to be a different signings policy in USPW, it seems like there is less of a open policy and less activity in terms of guys coming in and guys going. Is this a conscious decision or more an indication of the talent pool out there?

SS:
Oh it's certainly intentional and something that I feel strongly about. In the past we've brought in guys who we've took risks on, but since the start of the year I've had a much more hands on approach. I still have a great team, but I'm making sure I know each guys positive and negative – researching guys back catalogues. You look at the people we've brought in this year, and every single person has had a reason to be signed and that's a position we find ourselves in now that it isn't about quick fixes and it's about building on a base of talented wrestlers we have. I've had my eye on retirement for some time, and my legacy is now USPW so it's all about setting us up for the long run.

BM:
You speak about the new signings, and the future and the legacy of USPW. It would appear that the company is moving away from being about nostalgia acts and more 'moving into the 21st century' as some would put it. I've seen people praise and criticise that, what would you say about the change?

SS:
Without being rude, that is nonsense. This company has never been about nostalgia, it's about a clear defined product that we don't want to give up or move away from just because certain groups don't understand or appreciate it. We have a had a much older roster in the past but the real mission statement has never changed. The product is the same, all we've ever done is signed who is best for the job. In the past it may have been guys who were in their 40s and were well known elsewhere, and there's no problem with that at all and you may see signings like that in the future, but it's about guys who fit our product. Especially considering the group coming up now are born and raised on the era that represents what I believe is the true United States style of pro-wrestling. We're now in a position to create stars, if we sign someone it's no longer what they can do for us, it's about what we can do for each other and that's what triggers the greater focus.

BM:
You talk about the product, and how you feel that's the true style of wrestling, is this a comment on other promotions?

SS:
Not directly, no. I feel that some have brought in influence from elsewhere and other have tried to become a hybrid of reality TV. Which is fine on it's own, as is all kinds of wrestling, but I feel pro-wrestling fans respect our product. It's not about nostalgia as people seem to like to say, we're about a product that relies on storytelling and if that's old fashioned then fine, but we promote the best storytelling we can, in ring and out of the ring. It just so happens that we are now in a position where there are younger guys who understand that, who appreciate that and who want to work with us.

I mean look at who we've brought in this year – I look at Roger Cage who is gold on the microphone and a solid storyteller in the ring, and maybe he comes across as the big time 'superstar', but that distinction means he stands out. You've got Atom Smasher who is a great worker, who we've slightly turned up his character in our product and he's going to be huge. I mean Smasher is a prime example of the guys we're looking at. He's young sure but he ticks every box we need, whether he was 20 or 50. Then Captain USA II he's got a great start and a firm position. That's what it's about, making sure guys don't get stale. I feel our product is becoming what I've always wanted and that's a traditional wrestling product, and we're stable enough now that we can cherry pick guys and make sure they've got exactly what we need.

BM:
You mention the signing of SWF's Captain Atomic, it seems the war has died down a bit and despite a booming start to the year, your product has taken a back seat once again to what is traditionally the big 2. Is the war dying down and are you more focused on what you can do to reach the next level rather than what others are doing?

SS:
In truth the war is something you guys created. I never had any hard feeling towards Richard [Eisen] before he died, and I hold no grudge to his sons. They are our competition and we'll bring in whoever we feel will improve our product when we can, I'm not concern with what country we get them from, or which promotion I want what's best for us at any and every cost because I want the fans to be given the best product they can.

BM:
Speaking of the competition, which are the guys in TCW, SWF or anywhere who you'd consider as guys you'd like to see on your roster.

SS:
Well, I draw the line at talking about guys under contract, if you reword the question I might be able to answer.

BM:
Okay, who are the guys who you feel would be stars in your product, who work elsewhere? Who do you see as the top guys in the industry today.

SS:
I'll tell no lies when I say I keep up with as much of our competition as I can but I don't catch it every week. But I do see a true top tier, and I'm not talking about just the best talkers or technicians but I see an elite of guys who I'd consider potential top level talent on the level of Nicky Champion. Looking at us, there's a tonne Roger Cage, as much as he may not be my favourite guy, and Atom Smasher are well on their way. Elsewhere, in TCW Rocky Golden is the man. He perhaps would be helped in a different product... but that's not mine to say I also think they have a lot of guys who are great but lack the size or the charisma which is a shame, so I'm pleased it works for them. Other than Golden, Rick Law is amazing. He was 'made' in USPW along with another guy Rich Money and they are top guys - they were discovered by our company. Ricky Dale has always impressed me from when we were in HGC together, he's such a hard-worker. There's a bunch of guys... Jay Chord. I think some of those guys if used in a different way, and if they adapted...

BM:
So your saying if you had them, they'd be stars.

SS:
Not necessarily because these things aren't quite as easy as people make them out to be. There's so many variables that can go wrong. I'm saying they're the guys who I'd be trying to make stick out, stand out because they have it all, they're the total packages. In the SWF, the guy who sticks out head and shoulders to me is Valiant, he's so good, he's got the look, the confidence, the mic skills to be huge they're slow building him which is fine but at some point he's going to break through and they'll have no choice. I see such potential in Valiant. Eric Eisen is great too, people talk about how he's only big because of his dad and whatever but he could've rested on that, instead he's come back as one of the best workers in the country in my opinion. I'll never work with him either, so you know that's an honest assessment. They've got James Hernandez, who we did look at if we couldn't get Roger Cage in. Don't talk to me about Des Davids, though [the interview laughs, Sam doesn't]. Paul, Aristocrat too is someone I see as coming out as a big guy for them.

As far as guys in the top iconic levels, guy who I feel could hang with Nicky Champion it's a 3 of Nicky, Valiant and Rocky Golden. With Jay Chord being too early to tell. If he can bulk up he'll be a top star no question.

BM:
Okay can we do some word association then to finish off.

SS:
Sure why not? [note: he seemed unwilling]

BM:
Peter Valentine –
SS:

SS:
I don't have any... USPW.com is good, that'll give all the link to twitter and whatever, I don't deal with that really but check it out to find out when USPW in is your area, for the best pro-wrestling has to offer. Especially this week, because it's going to be huge I guarantee, watch and find out. Keep checking here too, because I'll make sure a few our guys drop in, thanks very much.

I did the Nicki rebounding to Sammy in my NYCW game actually :D

... I may or may not have lifted off you then without realizing the source.

Feel free, though all I've outlined is ... two months of build-up if you go week-by-week? How the war develops afterwards can go anywhere. Cage gets the better, Sammy gets the better, a third man steps in to elevate the feud (someone with Cheerleader Nicki?), etc...

Feel free to hit me up if you want to bounce some ideas off someone. USPW is as much my favorite playing ground as it is angel's, so I usually have a couple of ideas to throw about.

#329 Preview...

Enjoying this one so far, 20LEgend! I like the whole bringing in BBS as Captain USA II. Interested to see how things go toward Sam Strong's retirement.

I needed a new flag waving patriot and he fitted the role perfectly. I like that he's a continuation of the lineage but his style and size is completely different to the original's. I was going to bring him in under his American Patriot name but it worked out that I had Captain USA saying he has a number 2, his opponents laughing it off and then him showing up. In the past I've used Big Smack Scott as Captain USA II, but more as a comedy character for his BSS persona to come through. This time I wanted something more fitting with USPW so he's the all out patriot!
:D

Probably just a coincidence, glad you mentioned it - I'll definitely think about bringing her in with him. Yeah, it's definitely a good idea and I'm sure I'll end up using it in some form. I've got my major stuff planned out, but I'll take you up on that if I get stuck with anything.

American Wrestling #329, Week 2, July...

The show begins with a recap (in pictures) of the Independence Day Slam, as a voiceover talk over what happened:

“At an event that will go down in history, USPW presented Independence Day Slam!”

Images of Alicia Strong vs. Gorgon are shown, ending with Alicia's hand being raised in victory.

“Alicia Strong finally beat the dominant Gorgon...”

The images then switch to various ones of the other matches including Valentine vs. Datsun and Roger Cage & Charlie Thatcher vs. The American Patriots.

“Rivalries were settled, and championships changed hands....”

The focus then switches to the 5 vs. 5 Cage War match, showing Atom Smasher coming out on top using a Lariat to beat Jumbo Jackson. The final image showed Shane Sneer with his hands in his head

“Wars came to an end. Careers were changed for ever...”

Then it comes to the main event, where only a couple of images are shown, one of Sneer and Bruce's collision and one of Nicky's hand being raised.

“Against all odds... the Champion reigns supreme...”

There is then a small sound bite from Sam Strong as his image is on the screen.

“Following Thanksgiving Thunder, I will end my 50 years career...”

It then switches back to the voice-over

“Sam Strong announced that he would retire in 4 months time...”

“Tonight, reaction and more from the history making USPW Independence Day Slam! 2013”

Following the opening title, Shane Sneer is stood in the ring. Despite his usual smart image his hair is looking scruffy and his beard has grown out slightly. His tie is loose and his shirt sleeves are rolled up. He has a microphone. He pauses, trying to formulate his words before speaking.

Sneer:
No... [he sighs] it... it... no... it can't. Please... no. Why? We can't... I can't – no.

He lowers his head and strokes his beard.

Sneer:
What happened at the pay-per-view... I [he sighs again], come on we... there's gotta be...

Sam Strong music hits and he walks to the ring. Sneer stares at him, not in his usual cold way, but helplessly. As Strong enters the ring, Sneer backs into the corner.

Strong:
Shane, you gotta get out of here. You knew the risk, and you took it. Get out of my ring, or I'll have you removed.

Sneer just stands still in the corner, not taking his eyes off Strong.

Strong:
You know what, you stay there. [strong turns to the fans]. Last Thursday at Independence Day Slam I announced that following Thanksgiving Thunder I'd be retiring from wrestling. After 50 years in this business I've decided that with my daughter and my best friend Nicky Champion are one top, this company is in great hands. Tonight I'm here to thank each and everyone of you fans, some of whom may have know me for 50 days, some 50 years. Without each and everyone of you, no of us who do this are anything...

As he says that Peter Valentine's music hits and he walks to the ring.

PV:
Blah, blah, blah. We don't wanna hear it. Thanking these fans? Come on Strong you and I both know these fans are straight idiots! But seriously Sam could you be anymore boring. I mean you're little pet Nicky Champion, he pathetic but I thought you were better. Come on Sam, tell these losers here in Connecticut what you really think?

Strong: You wanna know what I really think? What I really think is this, Pete. You need to shut your mouth and get out of this ring.

Valentine steps up into Strong's face.

PV:
And what you going to do, old man? [he pushes Strong on the shoulder] What are you going to do about it? [he pushes him, harder this time] You're going to do nothing, because there is nothing you can do... old man.

Valentine pushes Strong until Strong pushes back. Shane Sneer still in the corner watches, despite Valentine's attempt to get him to join in. Valentine turns to Sneer who rolls out of the ring. Valentine goes head to head with Strong when Nicky Champion's music hits and he runs to the ring, getting in between Strong and Valentine.

NC:
You know what, Peter – I may have just slain a giant, but you know what. You look like you're up for a fight tonight, Peter. Well if you are then, you've just picked a fight with me.

PV: You really want me to expose you? If you're ready to be humiliated then that's fine by me... oh wait I don't waste my time with losers like you in front of idiots like all these fans. So thanks for the offer Nicky but no thanks.

Valentine leaves the win and starts to walk up the ramp.

Strong:
Hold on Peter, that's fine but you don't make the decisions round here, and for at least the next few months – I do! So tonight, in the main event you will face Nicky Champion!

Valentine turns around and looks at Champion and Strong. Before walking up the ramp.

DJ:
And there it is, our main event tonight!

EM:
Peter Valentine takes on the champion and I can't wait for that.

DJ:
Speaking of champions, Alicia Strong will make her first appearance as champion up next.

<div style=" border: 1px solid black";"><div style=" border: 2px solid red";"><div style=" border: 2px solid white";"><div style=" border: 2px solid blue";">

Strong made fairly easy work of Jade, controlling most of the match she got the victory after hitting Jade with a running Enziguri.

Winner:
Alicia Strong

</div></div></div></div>

After the match, Strong take a microphone and looks up the ramp towards the back. She has her championship over her shoulder. She says that when she faced Gorgon it was agreed that they wouldn't have another match again. She says that still stands even though Alicia won the championship.

DJ:
And Alicia showing that 2 can play at the same game there.

EM:
Are you hearing this? Let's go to the back...

In the back, The Force is seen laid out on the floor. He is not moving and a doctor is checking on him.

Shane Sneer is then seen pacing back and forth in the back. He is approached by Jumbo Jackson.

JJ:
Sneer, I wanna thank you, man. I had some great years with you man and I'm going to...

Sneer:
You! [Jackson looks confused] This is all you're fault – you couldn't get up, you lost it, you killed my empire, my dreams.

JJ:
Don't be like that Shane, you know this isn't our fault. There's only person to blame it's [he pauses] it's Atom Smasher... and just for you Shane I'll... make him pay!

Jackson walks off screen leaving Sneer to resume his pacing back and forth.

<div style=" border: 1px solid black";"><div style=" border: 2px solid red";"><div style=" border: 2px solid white";"><div style=" border: 2px solid blue";">

This match didn't last very long, and started with Caulfield breaking down Giant Redwood working on his body to slow down the big man. After a short spell of control from Redwood, Caulfield took control of the match back getting Redwood off his feet and hitting him with some stiff shots before hitting the Danger Drop to retain his championship.

Winner:
Chris Caulfield

</div></div></div></div>

After the match Caulfield lifts his championship above his head and gets to the top rope to celebrate. As he applauds the fans, some military style music plays. Caulfield drops down from the ropes and turns to look up the ramp. Instead of anyone walking down, there is a message on the big screen:

Caulfield looked at the sign confused, before looking at his championship over his shoulder.

In the back Jumbo Jackson is seen storming into Atom Smasher. He walks in quickly, but soon halts when Smasher stands up and goes face to face with him.

JJ:
This war had nothing to do with you. Why the hell did you get involved?

He is pointing in Smasher's face, which he clearly doesn't like.

JJ:
You ruined it, you ruined Sneer's plan – who the hell do you think you are?

As he says it he pokes Atom Smasher in the chest. Smasher grabs the hand.

AS:
I'll say it once, and you won't bother me again. I don't give a damn about you. I don't give a damn about Shane Sneer. I did what I had to do. Now get out of here.

Smasher then pushes Jackson backwards, and Jumbo grabs the door and leaves quickly.

Elsewhere, The Towers of Power are stood with Brock Cornish.

BC:
Two – former – members of The Sneer Corporation with me right now. How has this past week been...

Mick Muscles grabs the microphone.

MM:
We're not in a good mood Brock. That means we're not in the mood for questions. You understand?

Muscles looks at Brock who backs off. Muscles then passes the microphone to Rushmore.

DR:
Luckily, we get to take our frustrations on a pair of victims...

Back to the commentators

EM:
And the first none post Sneer Corporation match for any of the members up next.

DJ:
We'll see just how it's affecting them.

<div style=" border: 1px solid black";"><div style=" border: 2px solid red";"><div style=" border: 2px solid white";"><div style=" border: 2px solid blue";">

The Towers of Power were focussed in this match and quickly took out both of Natural Storm with cohesive tag team wrestling and hard hitting attacks. Howard had a short comeback but Mick Muscles finished the match with a Bulldozer Powerbomb.

Winners:
The Towers of Power

</div></div></div></div>

EM:
Box. checked. Question. answered.

DJ:
They haven't missed a beat. It could even be said they're more focussed.

EM:
Wait, I'm hearing somebody else has been taken out in the back, lets go to the back.

This time it is James Justice who is holding his ribs and rolling around on the ground. He is being treated by a doctor.

Elsewhere, Sam Strong is in his office with Commissioner Doom. Doom says that while they've had their difference he wishes Strong luck in the future. Strong thanks him. Doom then follows up, while shaking his hand, saying that Strong has nothing to worry about, since USPW will be in safe hands when he's gone. Doom then smirks at Strong who looks uneasy.

Ahead of his match next, Roger Cage is doing his trademark 'talk & walk backwards' to his bodyguard Charlie Thatcher and his girlfriend Blonde Bombshell. He is carrying both Tag Team Championship belts, as well as having his TV Championship around his waist.

RC:
I mean I've been National Champion, I am the TV champion and the Tag Team Champion, what more do I need? [He waits but gets no answer] the World Championship. I mean look at my gold. How can they deny me? I mean really – I was born to be a champion!

Back to the commentators.

DJ:
Maybe he shouldn't be looking past his match tonight.

EM:
Exactly, Captain USA II is no easy task, and he'll lose that gold if he isn't 100% focussed.

<div style=" border: 1px solid black";"><div style=" border: 2px solid red";"><div style=" border: 2px solid white";"><div style=" border: 2px solid blue";">

This match went back and forth between USA II and Roger Cage, with the strength of Captain USA II on display. With Captain USA II in control, Charlie Thatcher got involved allowing Cage to take control. Captain USA's attempts to get back in the match were consistently stopped by interference and distraction from Charlie Thatcher and Blonde Bombshell. Cage retained the championship by using his End Credit (reverse STO) finisher.

Winner:
Roger Cage

</div></div></div></div>

After the match Thatcher gets into the ring and continues to the attack on Captain USA II. Roger Cage encourages Thatcher and gets a few shots in himself.

As the attack continues, Captain USA makes his way down the ramp and tries to clear the ring. Cage quickly gets on top of Captain USA and Thatcher soon begins to beat Cage down. Cage and Thatcher brutally beat down Captain USA until he is hit with a huge Chokeslam from Thatcher. They both leave the ring and Captain USA II looks over him as he lays in a bad way.

DJ:
Another instance of Cage doing it the 'Cage' way.

EM:
Cheating and getting away with it might just take him to the top. Captain USA is in a bad way...

In the back Enygma is on the ground with 2 pairs of boots laying into him.

The camera pans back to reveal Tyson Baine and T-Rex laying into him. T-Rex then tells Enygma that “The Titans are going nowhere.”

Elsewhere, Brock Cornish is with Peter Valentine.

BC:
I'm here with the man who will face Nicky Champion in tonight's main event Peter Valentine. Peter this is one of the biggest matches you've faced in recent times, how are you feeling ahead of your main event match.

PV:
First let me correct you. You're here with the man who will beat Nicky Champion tonight. How I feel? I feel great. I feel better than great because tonight I open the eyes of Nicky Champion, Sam Strong and all these ignorant fans. For too long, I've been looked over. I'm about to clear the smoke and break the mirrors and prove beyond doubt that I should be the champion even in a dump like. I will go out there, beat Mr. Clean Cut and nobody will deny me.

<div style=" border: 1px solid black";"><div style=" border: 2px solid red";"><div style=" border: 2px solid white";"><div style=" border: 2px solid blue";">

The main event got under way and Valentine began immediately to avoid any confrontation with Champion. Before too long Champion got hold of Valentine, who quickly turn the match in his own favour. After a few minutes of control Champion began to comeback into the match, and locked in the Full Nelson. With nowhere to go Valentine grabbed the referee and used the distraction to hit a low blow to Champion with his heel. As Champion laid on the mat, Valentine went to ringside and grabbed Champion's World Championship. He got back in the ring and as Nicky Champion got to his feet he hit him with it. Nicky was knocked straight down to the ground. The referee called for the DQ.

Winner:
Nicky Champion

</div></div></div></div>

Valentine then threatened the referee with the belt and forced him to leave the ring. He then continued to lay feet into Champion before lifting him up and putting him in the corner of the ring. Valentine then set up to hit Nicky with the championship again when Sam Strong's music hit.

Strong made his way to the ring as Valentine goads him into action. As Strong enters the ring Valentine rolls under the bottom rope before Strong can get him, taking the championship with him.

More on Guide's move...

Excited to see the Thom "Guide" Barrowman signing, as well as where this is all going. Everything's pretty good so far.

Thanks. I really think his character can fit well with USPW - if we turned him up a bit :D Speaking of which...

More on Guide's move to USPW...

Following the video for Guide's début last night, we have received more information on his signing with USPW from TCW. Sources close to Guide have told us that both he and his New Wave partner Scout had been pushing within TCW for runs as singles competitors. When it became clear that TCW could not make assurance of a singles push, Guide apparently spoke to his partner about forcing the issue by leaving when his contract ended. When the offer came in from USPW, Guide had offers from both TCW and USPW on the table. He apparently made his finally decision after a personal meeting with Sam Strong who (as has been company incentive recently) laid out plans for Guide.

While those plans are unknown at this time, our source claimed that Guide was sufficiently satisfied with the financial terms and the company's direction to sign the contract.

What this means for Scout in TCW is currently unknown, however he did recently win the TCW International Championship.

USPW Independence Day Slam breaks company records...

Following their "biggest show of the year" USPW managed to break a number of their own records, as 25,013 fans attended the show. The event was also USPW's most ordered pay-per-view, with a buy rate of 1.32. Internal sources have told us that the promotion are determined to further break both of these record later this year at the Thanksgiving Thunder which is rumoured to be planned for the same venue as Independence Day Slam. Other possibilities include the Manhatten National Center close to where Sam Strong grew up. With the show being the end of Sam Strong's career in the wrestling business, the company are determined to create a huge amount of hype around the show.

American Wrestling #330, Week 3, July...

The show begins with a recap video of last week. The video shows James Justice and The Force down on the ground and Enygma being beaten down by The Titans. It then shows the end of the episode where Peter Valentine got himself disqualified and left with Nicky Champion's USPW World Championship.

We're then shown a preview of tonight's show, where Chris Caulfield has challenged The Titans to a tag team match in the main event and his partner will be Nicky Champion.

DJ:
Welcome to the show, Nicky Champion in tonight's main event, but Emily I can't help but think his mind might be elsewhere.

EM:
It has to be, we've seen what that championship means to Nicky and I have to say this is a great tactic to see from Valentine... [PV's music hits] Speak of the devil...

Valentine walks to the ring, dragging the World Championship along with him.

PV:
Well isn't this a turn up... I told you. I told you all and now I stand here with the USPW World Championship. Best part, there's nothing anyone can do about it – look nobody is going to do anything because I am a Legend of Wrestling, and unlike that old timer Sam Strong I can still go and I'm better than he ever was. Now bow down the your champ...

He is interrupted by Nicky Champion's music and Nicky runs down to the ring.

As he slides under the ropes, Valentine leaves dropping his mic and smiling up the ramp. Nicky picks up the mic.

NC:
Get back here right now and give me that championship!

Valentine laughs at Nicky and continues walking backwards up the ramp. As he reaches the top he is stopped. He turns around and sees Sam Strong. Before he can be caught he jumps off the ramp and runs, leaving through the side. Strong has a microphone.

SS:
Nicky, tonight you've got a main event to focus on, so how about you focus on that and I'll deal with getting your championship back.

Nicky looks annoyed but agrees to leave the ring and walks up to Sam.

DJ:
Valentine running away there. He can run, but he can't hide.

EM:
Well, he'll do his best and who knows, that might be good enough to at least get him noticed around here.

In the back Charlie Thatcher is in his ring gear and is stood with Roger Cage. Cage tells him he has some business to take care of and so would not be at ringside. He told Thatcher to destroy Captain USA II like they did the original last week.

<div style=" border: 1px solid black";"><div style=" border: 2px solid red";"><div style=" border: 2px solid white";"><div style=" border: 2px solid blue";">

This was a power match with a lot of back and forth one-upmanship. Thatcher looked almost uncomfortable to be in the ring without Cage and Bombshell and it made for a much fairer match. As a result, Captain USA II eventually came out on top in the match, pinning Thatcher following a Belly to Belly Suplex.

Winner:
Captain USA II

</div></div></div></div>

After the match Captain USA II tells Roger Cage that after what he did to his partner last week he will pay! USA II then hit Thatcher with another Belly to Belly Suplex.

A video then plays with the caption “moments ago”. The footage shows Peter Valentine putting the World Championship in the back seat of a car before getting into it and driving off.

EM:
You said he can't hide Danny, looks like he's going to try.

DJ:
This is really bad news, I can't see anyway Nicky will be able to remain focussed in tonight's main event.

Sam Strong is in his and Commissioner Doom's office on the phone when Roger Cage walks in.

Strong:
[Down the phone] Just give me a minute. [he looks up] Could you at least knock?

RC:
Well it's too late now. Listen, is the man
in charge
anywhere?

Strong:
I'm here.

RC:
I mean the guy who actually make the decisions, you know the Commissioner.

Strong:
Well does it look like he's here... [Cage just stand there] well I can't stand the sight of you, so get out of here.

RC:
No, I'm waiting.

Strong:
Okay... just tell me what it is.

RC:
Well you know I'm a former National Champion, and the current...

Strong:
Get the point, son – I'm busy.

RC:
I deserve another World Championship shot.

Strong:
This is actually a bad time Roger, you know... since we don't even have a World Championship.

RC:
Oh yeah, I remember now... good job Sammy. [Cage shakes him head and rolls his eyes]

Strong then tries to get back his phone conversation but Cage pushes down the switch hook on it and leaves.

Elsewhere Commissioner Doom is explaining to Cherry Bomb that it was written in the contract that win or lose Gorgon would not face Strong again. Bomb was not happy, and told Doom she would take it out on her opponent.

<div style=" border: 1px solid black";"><div style=" border: 2px solid red";"><div style=" border: 2px solid white";"><div style=" border: 2px solid blue";">

As promised Bomb was very aggressive in the match, coming close to disqualification at one point. Bomb eventually got the victory with the Cherry Bomb.

Winner:
Cherry Bomb

</div></div></div></div>

After the match Bomb took a microphone and told Alicia that while Gorgon may not be allowed her rematch, Bomb is ready to take the championship and bring it back to where it belongs.

In the back Brock Cornish is stood alongside Chris Caulfield.

BC:
Chris, you specifically called out the Titans after their actions last week, when they took out 3 of your friends backstage. What are your thoughts going into the main event tonight?

CC:
Like you said they took out my buddies and they thought that was just fine. Well Brock where I'm from you don't get away with that, so tonight I teach those guys a lesson, and who better to have by your side than Nicky Champion.

BC:
Do you feel that the situation with Nicky's championship may effect his performance tonight?

CC:
I understand that but really Champion is the hardest working, most professional guy you could meet. And I know when that bell rings he'll be just as focussed as I am.

BC:
And one last question regarding last week, the message on the screen. Do you know any more about this?

CC:
[He shrugs] I know as much as you do. It would appear Guide is coming to USPW. Other than that my guess is as good as yours. I've previous with the guy and I'm just seeing how it plays out. I don't know if that message was for me or for everyone, that's all I've got to say.

BC:
Thanks Chris. Back to you guys at ringside.

DJ:
Well, Chris seems confident Nicky will be focussed.

EM:
He seems it. He isn't. There's no way Nicky will be focussed on his match tonight.

The Cold Warriors come out. They say that the USA sucks. They say each American in this building is no match for The Cold Warriors they challenge anyone to face them. The challenge is answered by The Natural Storm.

<div style=" border: 1px solid black";"><div style=" border: 2px solid red";"><div style=" border: 2px solid white";"><div style=" border: 2px solid blue";">

The Cold Warriors took control early on in the match, and at points where ignoring Natural Storm so they could insult the fans. While they did this successfully most times, the one time they didn't get away with it they paid for, as D.C Rayne got a quick roll up on Karloff for the win.

Winners:
Natural Storm

</div></div></div></div>

DJ:
And Natural Storm end their bad run with a surprise victory over the Russian Giants.

EM:
The Cold Warriors will not take this loss lying down.

In the back Danny Rushmore and Mick Muscles are in the back with Brock Cornish. They push Cornish out of shot and Mick takes the mic.

MM:
The Sneer Corporation is no more. But The Towers, we're stronger than ever.

Rushmore take the mic.

DR:
But don't think we've forgotten about Atom Smasher, in fact in our match up next – I'll make sure he never forgets me.

Muscles takes it back.

MM:
Atom Smasher, Danny is going to destroy you tonight... and then I'll take the scraps. Kid, you'll be unrecognisable.

They leave.

<div style=" border: 1px solid black";"><div style=" border: 2px solid red";"><div style=" border: 2px solid white";"><div style=" border: 2px solid blue";">

Despite the match being essentially 2 vs. 1, Atom Smasher was able to weather the storm and once again displayed great bounce-back-ability throughout the match. Each time Rushmore seemed to take control Smasher came back stronger, until he eventually won the match by pinfall following the Lariat.

Winner:
Atom Smasher

</div></div></div></div>

After the match, Mick Muscles got in the ring and tried to attack Atom Smasher. Smasher instead hit him with his signature Mushroom Cloud. As Rushmore came back around he hit him with a splash in the corner too, before leaving up the ramp.

Backstage, Chris Caulfield is talking to James Justice and The Force, both of whom are bandaged up. They said if they could they'd be fighting with him. Since they can't, they told him they'd be routing for him back here.

In Sam Strong's office, Champion is seen pacing back and forth. Strong asks him if he's sure he's ready for the match tonight. Champion says he is, but asks Strong to let him know if he hears anything from Valentine.

Following Chris Caulfield entrance a message comes up on the screen, it reads:

Caulfield shakes it off, focussing on his match as Nicky Champion makes his way to the ring.

<div style=" border: 1px solid black";"><div style=" border: 2px solid red";"><div style=" border: 2px solid white";"><div style=" border: 2px solid blue";">

The match started with T-Rex and Chris Caulfield in the ring. While The Titans were in and out with quick tags, Champion's mind was clearly elsewhere. For this reason Caulfield spent most of the time in the ring, while Champion only had a few short spells in the match. The effect was clear and Caulfield ended up being isolated by The Titans. Caulfield did eventually get free, but as he went for the tag, Peter Valentine's face popped up on the big screen, in what looked like some sort of club. Nicky was so distracted that he missed the tag and The Titans got the win, when Baine hit a Hades Bomb on the already hurt Caulfield.

Winners:
The Titans

</div></div></div></div>

Not taking his eyes off the big screen Champion barely acknowledged the loss. On the screen Valentine continued to laugh before talking.

PV:
Unlucky, Nick – you let me distract you? How very un-champion-like. Something wrong, Nick? Could it be this? [He lifts the World Championship into view, Nicky is shown in the ring, practically frothing at the mouth] How does it feel Nick, to have this taken away? How does it feel, knowing you'll never touch this again. How does it feel knowing I'm the champion... anyway Nicky I gotta go. I'm just having too good of a time. Cheers...

Valentine winks at the camera and raises a champagne flute in Nicky's direction, before the feed cuts off. Nicky is then seen kicking the ropes in anger as the show finishes.

EM:
Masterful psychology from Peter Valentine. He can do whatever he wants now, he has Nicky in the palm of his hand.

DJ:
Nicky always finds a way out, so we'll see about that Emily... I hope. [He sighs] Goodnight, we'll see you, same time next week...
