TNA Xplosion and Impact Live, January Week 2, 2013

The second week of my stint with TNA saw us head to New York City. Dixie and company had booked the famed Hammerstein Ballroom months earlier. If it were up to me, we would never perform in a venue like this while we are on the road. For one, we can draw better than the 3,900 who will pack this place this event. But more importantly, Hammerstein Ballroom always draws ravenous fans, and as of right now we don't have a product that will live up to their standards. Thus, I had a feeling from the start this show will struggle to live up to the expectations.

TNA Xplosion

The show opened with a highlight package of the first six months of the Gut Check challenge. It gave us a quick overview of the new look of Gut Check and then we headed straight to the ring. Danny Daniels stands only 5 foot 8 inches, but weighs in at 190 pounds. While not the most intimidating figure, he is a technically sound wrestler and Al Snow highly recommended him. He strode down to the ring flashing signs of the typical 1990's heel. Trying to draw some cheap heat, but frankly, falling flat in his efforts. On the other hand, the Hammerstein faithful erupted when Go Shiozaki appeared, they obviously remembered him from his stint with Ring of Honor and Full Impact Pro, but also potentially from his popular reign in Japan. That applause was likely the most interesting part of the match. Daniels and Shiozaki never really clicked and it kicked Xplosion off to a rough start. The fans expected to see more physicality between the two and when Go hit the Go Flasher finisher it seemed most fans were relieved this match was over.

--Go Shiozaki defeated Danny Daniels via Go Flasher (Vertical Suplex dropped into a headlock elbow drop)

Rough start I thought to myself as I stood with the production team. I love the Gut Check concept, but it still needs some tweaking for it to be really successful. Knowing what was up next, I braced myself for a potential firestorm...

Back in the ring Kid Kash and Gunner made their way down to the ring with the ever present chains draped over both of their shoulders. The Latino Warriors were out next, also with something draped over their shoulders, gold. This match most nights would be a mid-card affair on Impact, but tonight it was a mid-card match on Xplosion. We really wanted to push the show as highlighting our new web presence and since that is the plan, we went with this. As for the match it was a surprisingly solid affair. The fans got behind the Latino Warriors, but the ending saw a surprise. Gunner, Irish Whipped Chavo into the corner, right as Kid Kash draped his chain over the turnbuckle. Chavo collided spine first with the turnbuckle and then Gunner followed with a massive Spine Buster. Kid Kash tagged in and Gunner took care of Hernandez as Kid Kash and Gunner stole the win and the titles.

--Kid Kash and Gunner defeated The Latino Warriors to become the NEW TNA Tag Team Champions

The Latino Warriors proved to be decent champions for the three months they reigned (October thru January) they didn't really fit the long-term vision we have for this company. Kid Kash and Gunner becoming champions will make much more sense to the fans shortly.

The cameras caught up backstage with Joey Ryan who was mercilessly hitting on Brooke Hogan. He was insisting that he should be allowed into the Knockouts dressing room just to make sure none of the ladies had missed their opportunity for a mustache r...before he could finish his sentence Brooke Hogan slapped him silly and told him to go to the ring to face Samoa Joe.

Brooke Hogan will remain a part of TNA, but like her father we are not trying to make the Hogan family the focal point of the show. Rather they are one piece of a larger puzzle. This will be a difficult change for the Hogan's but I am confident they can handle it with class.

As for the match, Samoa Joe took out his anger on Joey Ryan absolutely annihilating him and earning a quick victory.

--Samoa Joe defeated Joey Ryan via Muscle Buster

We returned from break to find Bad Influence backstage in the locker room laughing about the Latino Warriors losing the titles. The camera pans back to reveal that Chavo and Hernandez were in the room and clearly heard what was said. In the end Daniels and Kazarian waltzed out of the room before anything could happen.

I love the reaction that Bad Influence gets and when we scripted this we decided that both teams would face each-other on Impact in a mere hour or so.

The Aces and Eights storyline is one of interest to me. Like I said last week, I think there is so much more than can be told in this story. As such I was keeping a keen eye on the Devon vs. Mr. Anderson main event. This match was good, but nowhere near as successful as it should have been for two top superstars. Devon ultimately picked up the win and Mr. Anderson vowed that the Aces and Eights will regret messing with him.

--Devon defeated Mr. Anderson to retain the Television Title

That wrapped Xplosion up, overall it wasn't a pretty show, but it'll work in helping us advance some story lines. Which with a Pay Per View three days away, is the ultimate goal.

Impact! Live

Impact opened with the self-proclaimed Greatest Wrestler Who Ever Lived, Austin Aries, making his way to the ring. He proclaimed that at Genesis he will destroy Rob Van Dam, and in order to warmup for this match, tonight he is challenging another wrestler who is around Rob Van Dam's age... Elix Skipper. Skipper came out hot, but we all know that Aries isn't about to lose a match before his title shot. After some quick offense he nailed the Brainbuster and cruises into Genesis looking like a star.

The good thing about starting this show immediately after Xplosion is that the fans immediately got to see better match than they had witnessed for the entire previous hour. This match was fully designed to make Aries look great and Elix is a champ at helping put over guys.

--Austin Aries defeated Elix Skipper via Brainbuster

The camera pans outside where Hulk Hogan is down and being ruthless beaten by three members of Aces and Eights. Two of them flee the scene as soon as they notice the camera but the third (he appears to be the one at ringside last week) stops and willingly unmasks himself. Mike Tenay screams out that it is Mike Knox, and Knox quickly looks at the camera and snarls. He grabs hold of the camera man and says "TNA, we aren't here to hide, we are the Aces and Eights, and when your with us, you never ride alone." Knox hops on a motorcycle nearby and rides off.

We return from break with Mike Tenay confirming that Knox will be the Aces and Eights member who tonight will face James Storm. He also says that Hogan has been rushed to the hospital and will not be at the show. The last nugget he drops is that if Storm beats Knox tonight, he will get to face Devon at Genesis for the Television Title.

As he wraps up we see that the four X-Division contenders are already in the ring. Christian York is a great story, and a great worker, but without a real gimmick or storyline I struggle to see him going far here in TNA, he did get some innovative offense in early on though. Kenny King is a wolf in sheep's clothing, the fans love him, but we feel that he is much better off as a heel. With that said, we will leave him be for the time being, at least until other things develop for him. Robbie E, like him or hate him, is a decent worker. He really had the NYC crowd against him tonight and he fed off their energy. Zema Ion meanwhile was the wild card of the bunch. Ion is a former X-Division champ and while I love his look and his in-ring skills, there is still something missing.

In this match however, Ion had everything clicking and managed to get the victory, rolling up York while King and Robbie E did battle on the floor.

--Zema Ion defeated Christian York, Kenny King and Robbie E

Backstage playing off what we saw earlier, Jeremy Borash stopped Bad Influence to ask them about why they were in such a good mood. They stopped and laughed with JB, telling him that NYC was a great place for refined individuals such as themselves. Naturally, the Latino Warriors walked by and got into a heated argument. They challenged Bad Influence to a match after the break and Mike Tenay reminded the audience that if you tuned in online to the one-hour Xplosion, pre-Impact you would have seen that the Latino Warriors were defeated by the team of Kid Kash and Gunner for the Tag Titles. Tenay also mentioned that at Genesis, the Latino Warriors will get their rematch, and if Bad Influence wins tonight, they will be added to the match as well.

We returned from break in time for the entrances of Bad Influence and the Latino Warriors. This match was arguably the match of the night (sad considered the main event featured some of the top stars the company has). Christopher Daniels and Chavo really shined and Kazarian fit in well as well. Hernandez looked alright, but really didn't have it tonight. In the end, Kazarian and Daniels got back on track, winning the match and earning the chance to join the Latino Warriors as contenders for the Tag Titles.

Bad Influence defeated The Latino Warriors

A vignette for Tara, the Knockouts champion aired. This was nothing more than a time filler and chance to show that Tara was back to her darker ways, and not attached to Jessie Godderz anymore. Speaking of Jessie, he is back in OVW with Alex Wright and Douglas Williams teaching him how to be a decent wrestler.

Up next we had James Storm taking on the newly revealed member of Aces and Eights, Knox. Knox came down the ring accompanied by DOC, Devon and the two remaining masked members, but Earl Hebner sent them to the back. Once Knox was "riding alone" he stood no chance against the angry redneck. James Storm took his frustrations out on Knox and ultimately hit the Last Call Super Kick for the win.

--James Storm defeated Knox via Last Call Super Kick

The cameras went backstage and caught up with Joseph Parks. Parks was holding an envelop. Parks looked worried, and asked the cameraman if he knew what came in the mail to the Law Offices of Parks, Parks, and Parks today. The cameraman obviously said no. Joseph pulled out a letter and read aloud. "Chris, It is time to come home. At Genesis the First of the Seven Stages of Hell await you". Joseph looked panicked saying he hadn't seen Abyss all day, but was glad to know his brother was back. He went on to mention they had lunch together over the weekend...

Very strange, but I like the way it moves the storyline forward. As mentioned earlier, Abyss and Joseph Parks are not ready to be merged into one story. For now we will keep them separate using camera tricks and other hollywood magic.

As we returned from break Abyss made his entrance. He looked paranoid and kept pulling at his hair and mask. Mike Tenay informed us that he just received a parcel that gave a report on Abyss' opponent for Genesis, the so-called first stage of Hell. Tenay informed the viewers that the Mysterious First Stage of Hell, was a masked man who was known as Averno. He read to the fans, Averno's ring name was the Spanish rendering of Avernus, the crater where Aeneas descended into the underworld in Virgil's Aeneid and is most commonly translated as "Hell" in English...

As Tenay made mention of this Devon made his way to the ring for his match. This time the Aces and Eights didn't leave the stage and were not asked to leave.

As for the match, Abyss and Devon were in the midst of a great slobberknocker but as Abyss began to get the upper-hand on Devon, voices could be heard over the speaker echoing "Come Home, Chris, Come Home" Abyss snapped and immediately began tearing things up at ringside, getting himself counted out in the process. He looked unable to control himself, when suddenly on the video board Joseph Parks appeared and begged Abyss to stop and come meet him on Broadway. Abyss appeared to relax and wandered to the back. As this was all happening Knox, Doc and the two masked men left the stage, Doc and Knox strode down to the ring while the other two ducked behind the curtain.

Ah, there's that Hollywood magic. As for Averno, he is a solid worker, but he is merely a pawn.

--Devon defeated Abyss via count out

Back with the action, Devon, Knox and DOC stood in the ring. Devon spoke talking about how the Aces and Eights were here for one thing. And that one thing was GOLD... Devon said ultimately, all we want is to be recognized for what we are. We are champions, not pawns in a game. The Aces and Eights are already halfway there he said... As he finished the statement the two masked men rode down to the ring on all black Harley's with gold draped over their shoulders, Gunner and Kid Kash stepped into the ring removing their masks in the process. Devon continued to speak, as I said, all we want is Gold.

This isn't the full storyline for the Aces and Eights but we decided to give them a direction. By making the five members all guys who have been cast aside and angry at the wrestling world we give them a purpose. For Devon it is to get out of the shadow of being a star tag team wrestler. For DOC it is to get away from being known as a Festus, for Knox it is getting away from the misuse he suffered in ECW, for Kid Kash it is a chance to finally hold a major title again after seven years of toiling away. And for Gunner, it is a chance to become a star. We loved Gunner's look and think he's decent with the microphone and decent in ring and with the right pairing could be a star for us. We will see as this develops how it all goes. But at least they have a partial direction now. And don't worry, they will still be causing havoc.

As we returned for the Main Event, Mike Tenay and Taz were still buzzing about the revealing of the five current members of Aces and Eights. Taz mentioned that a group of rebels like that doesn't need a leader, they just need a cause. The main event saw all six competitors make their entrances and the fans popping for the stars. Just as the match was about to start Bully Ray made his way down to join Taz and Tenay on commentary. The match itself was a bit of sloppy. Rob Van Dam and Jeff Hardywere tagging each other back and forth and Kurt Angle spent most of the match doing battle with Bobby Roode. Tenay talks up Genesis and how we will see Roode and Angle one on one for the #1 Contendership. He also hypes the Bully Ray and Jeff Hardy match. Meanwhile DOC and Matt Morgan have a miscommunication that results in DOC walking out on his team. Roode seeing that DOC has left and bail as well allowing Angle to pray on Morgan, take him down and walk out with a victory.

As the show closed Bully Ray left the commentary table and went nose to nose with Jeff Hardy, before rolling out of the ring.

--Jeff Hardy, Kurt Angle and Rob Van Dam defeated Matt Morgan, DOC and Bobby Roode

This show wasn't a success in terms of the action, but the show was a success in terms of setting us up for Genesis. As the show wrapped up and the stars packed up and left the arena, I called for a meeting back in the hotel with the writers and staff.

We will go over that meeting next time...

Thank you all for the predictions and comments. I'm glad to see people like the style. There are so many fantastic diaries on this board (many written by my readers). I haven't had nearly enough time to predict and read many of them, but I throughly enjoy all of the works on this board. I went this direction in an effort to differentiate this diary. I hope this style will allow readers to hop on and off the follow train and still understand what is going on within the TNA: Crossroads world.

TNA Genesis Preview

TNA GENESIS PREVIEW

I've only been formally part of this staff for two weeks, but so far I'm very confident in the direction of our program. I called a meeting post-Impact to make sure we were all on the same page for the upcoming Genesis preview.

I knew we wanted to start the show with a bang so we agreed that Austin Aries vs. Rob Van Dam for the X-Division title would open the show. This match should get the fans hot for the remainder of the show and I know that Aries and Van Dam can work a great match.

From there it's a little bit blurry. We are going to announce on TNAwrestling.com tomorrow that Mr. Anderson has challenged any member of Aces and Eights to a one on one match at Genesis. His challenge will be answered by DOC. Mr. Anderson currently doesn't really have a direction for his character and while he has phenomenal charisma we really don't have anything huge for him right now. This will help plug a hole in the card.

The middle of the show might as well be called the Aces and Eights section. After the DOC/Anderson match we will have the three team tag title match between the new champions Kid Kash and Gunner, and the two challenging teams, the Latino Warriors and Bad Influence. So far Bad Influence has a big win against the Latino Warriors and Kid Kash and Gunner have been on a role. The Latino Warriors have been scuffling, but I think this match is a good showcase for them and ultimately will push forward both the Aces and Eights quest for gold and the Tag Division as a whole. Though I will say we've been racking our collective brains for a name for Kid Kash and Gunner and so far have been swinging and missing.

Up next Devon takes on James Storm with the television title on the line. James Storm has been dueling with the Aces and Eights for months and this pushes that feud forward. It will also help set-up the next month worth of storylines. I love what we have planned here and think the fans will respond well.

Abyss taking on Averno will be stashed after this. Averno is a phenomenal worker, but he is close to unknown in America. Abyss has been haunted by these threats to "come home" and tonight is the "First Stage of Hell" for Abyss. Over the next few weeks we will see Abyss taking on many challenges and fighting to remain in control of his life. This storyline is risque and intriguing. I think the reveal of who is the mastermind will ultimately be a fun reveal. But that's a while away.

The last two matches of the night are Bobby Roode vs. Kurt Angle for the #1 Contendership to the World Heavyweight Title and then the Main Event, Bully Ray vs. Jeff Hardy.

Roode and Angle, I fully expect to steal the show. Both guys have been working amazing matches over the last year and both men know how to take it to the edge and back. We have very big plans for both men as we move forward.

Bully Ray and Jeff Hardy will be a strong match. Both men are seen as the two of the top faces in the company, but no matter how you cut it, both men can flat out work. Some of the best matches of the 2000s involved Bully Ray and Jeff Hardy. Letting them go 1-on-1 will be an amazing treat to all involved.

So here is the card for TNA Genesis:

For the X-Division Title: Austin Aries vs. Rob Van Dam (Champion)

Grudge Match: DOC vs. Mr. Anderson

For the TNA Tag Titles: Bad Influence vs. Kid Kash and Gunner (Champions) vs. Latino Warriors

For the TNA Television Title: Devon (Champion) vs. James Storm

First Stage of Hell: Abyss vs. Averno

#1 Contendership Match: Bobby Roode vs. Kurt Angle

For the TNA World Heavyweight Title: Bully Ray vs. Jeff Hardy (Champion)

OOC: Couple thoughts: I'm going to be swamped for the next week. I'm going to try to get the show up this week, but if there is a short lapse, don't worry, it'll get up. Just gotta get a couple hours free.

I never thought I would get this many predictions. I will come up with some incentive. Likely naming the stipulation of the World Heavyweight Title match for the February Against All Odds.

As another note, if anyone has a decent name for Kid Kash/Gunner I'm happy to take it into consideration/steal it.

For the X-Division Title: Austin Aries vs. Rob Van Dam (Champion)

Van Dam is old and boring.

Grudge Match: DOC vs. Mr. Anderson

Mr. Anderson is a third tier main eventer and Aces&8's needs to look strong.

For the TNA Tag Titles: Bad Influence vs. Kid Kash and Gunner (Champions) vs. Latino Warriors

Too early for a title change

For the TNA Television Title: Devon (Champion) vs. James Storm

Storm unlike Devon doesn't need the belt.

First Stage of Hell: Abyss vs. Averno

Abyss kills lucha.

#1 Contendership Match: Bobby Roode vs. Kurt Angle

Bully Ray is heel and you need to make use of Angle before he retires or he twitters get hacked.

For the TNA World Heavyweight Title: Bully Ray vs. Jeff Hardy (Champion)

Ray deserves a nice run with the title and Hardy is not the ideal champion.

Aces can take a loss here

For the TNA Tag Titles: Bad Influence vs. Kid Kash and Gunner (Champions) vs. Latino Warriors

Too soon for them to lose the belts...

For the TNA Television Title: Devon (Champion) vs. James Storm

Keep the belts on the aces at the moment...

First Stage of Hell: Abyss vs. Averno

Stage one... CHECK! Like this storyline, sounds like a bad John Cena movie... but I like it...

#1 Contendership Match: Bobby Roode vs. Kurt Angle

Rooode.... Love him!!

For the TNA World Heavyweight Title: Bully Ray vs. Jeff Hardy (Champion)

Not sure why... Just think Jeff and Roode would be the best feud out of this lot

TAG TEAM NAMES:

Always a tough one, on my diary, I normally give it out as a bonus prize if anyone gets 100% predictions correct... It's hard to be creative with every little thing... Would it be too obvious to call them 'The Pitbulls'?? if so, how about something to do with a pack of cards, like... ummm... 'The Jacks'... or 'The Full House'... I don't know!! "/

<p>Tna Genesis</p><p> </p><p> I find that I do my best thinking while alone. We were a mere three hours away from Genesis at this point but I was already scripting out thoughts and ideas to run past the bookers for February. We already had our two main events set-up for Against All Odds in February, but the rest of the card is really up in the air. While driving to the arena D'Lo Brown and I were brainstorming ways to better activate the Knockouts division and this was stuck in my mind. As a consultant I know that 85% of our audience are males, but I also know that 30% of the audience is under 18. Assume those are all male, then you have a 55% of the demographic who may tune in to enjoy overly sexualized women fighting. This was a lesson the WWE learned during the Attitude area. We believe that the Knockouts offer both sexy looks and great in-ring skills. The issue was how do we reach at least 75% of the audience and activate them...</p><p> </p><p> As I kept taking my mental notes, the booking team walked in... We went over the card and slowly but surely, we reached showtime.</p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;"><span style="color:#FF8C00;">PRESENTING: TNA GENESIS</span></span></strong></p></div><p></p><p> </p><p> <em>Before the camera started rolling on PPV they were rolling live on TNAWrestling.com. They ran down the card for the night before they were abruptly interrupted by <strong><span style="color:#FF0000;">Austin Aries</span></strong> who made his made down to the ring for his X-Division Title shot. Before he got there though he found a microphone and ran down his list of accomplishments from 2012. He promised that 2012 was merely a preview and that in 2013, the Greatest of All-Time would continue his hall of fame career. With that, <span style="color:#0000FF;"><strong>Rob Van Dam</strong></span> made his way down to the ring to a huge pop. Van Dam is still a solid worker and great draw. As a champion he has been a good draw for the X-Division and as we look to refocus on the X-Division we know Van Dam is a critical cog to this. Aries however wanted nothing to do with Van Dam and spent much of the match working Van Dam over with his technical wrestling techniques. In the end Aries nailed Van Dam with the Brainbuster and became the new X-Division champion.</p><p> </p><p> <strong><em>--Austin Aries defeated Rob Van Dam to become the NEW X-Division Champion</em></strong></p><p> </p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="36078" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><p> As <strong>Aries</strong> celebrated his win the <strong>Aces and Eights</strong> made their way down to the ring. While DOC at least has a story, I am getting a bit worried with Anderson. I like that he is involved with the Aces and Eights, but I am not sure if this is a solution long-term. We don't really view him as a viable World Title contender at the moment, but maybe with a better build-up. As for DOC, he is the perfect Director of Chaos for the Aces and Eights, but realistically that is all he is. With Gunner and Knox joining the group this month DOC is relegated to Devon's assistant in many ways. Tonight, he couldn't do what Devon did four days earlier. We really like the tag division and think we have at least one other solid team that is going to debut in the next few months, we've been leaning towards calling this team Southern Hostility, but that's for another time... in this case we have the Tag champions <strong><span style="color:#FF0000;">Kid Kash and Gunner</span></strong> taking on <span style="color:#FF0000;"><strong>Bad Influence</strong></span> and the <span style="color:#0000FF;"><strong>Latino Warriors</strong></span>. So far for the Latino Warriors it's been nothing but losses and they were determined to change that tonight. Hernandez and Chavo both came out flying but Daniels and Kash slowed them drop. Gunner and Kazarian spent the first half of the match outside the ring, taking in the action. Kazarian even whipped he and Daniels up an Appletini. As the match progressed it became obvious that we were seeing one of the better tag matches TNA had put on in the last year. Kash and Chavo had a great sequence that ultimately saw Hernandez tag-in but accidentally clothesline Chavo. Daniels tried to steal a pin but Gunner broke that up. In the end Kid Kash took out Hernandez knee and hit a big over the top splash on Daniels. Meanwhile Gunner nailed Chavo with a huge Spinebuster and got the cover for the win.</p><p> </p><p> <strong><em>--Kid Kash and Gunner defeated The Latino Warriors and Bad Influence to Retain the TNA Tag Titles</em></strong></p><p> </p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="36078" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><p> After the match we went to the Aces and Eights clubhouse where <strong>Devon</strong> was shooting darts at a dartboard. Angle hit a huge series of three suplexes and seemed to be in control, but Roode countered an Angle Lock attempt and hit a huge top-rope suplex on Angle. The fans were going wild as Roode and Angle both got back to their feet. Angle woozily swung at Roode, who took down Angle and locked in a Crossface. The fans like Ray, but many don't trust him fully. He still has that "heel" look and the fans treat him like a potential turncoat. That said, Bully Ray has been a star for this company since June and this is a great shot for him to showcase his skills as a singles competitor. Up next was <span style="color:#0000FF;"><strong>Jeff Hardy</strong></span>. He came out fully painted head to toe and the creatures in the stands were in love all over again. Hardy has gone down the wrong path a bunch in his career, but for now he is alright and we are happy with his progress as champion. This match started off slowly and two men told a great story in the ring. Ray and Hardy have been doing battle since the early 2000's and you could tell. They really feed off each other in the ring and in turn the fans feed of the energy they provide. Jeff Hardy and Bully Ray pulled out all the stops. Hardy hit his signature moves but couldn't get the pinfall. Ray hit his signature moves, same story. The ending of the match finally came as Hardy and Ray climbed jointly to the top rope... Ray tries for a suplex but is shoved off. Hardy goes up and hits a vintage SWANTON BOMB. He bounces back to his feet and climbs up top and hits another. 1-2-3, Hardy defends.</p><p> </p><p> We went back and forth all week on if we wanted Hardy to defend or Ray to be the new champion. In the end we decided that Bully Ray fit the storyline you will see debut on Impact better than Jeff Hardy. The stories are slowly developing and as they do we will be able to put on more unpredictable events. Backstage we all gathered, writers, agents and workers and ran down the night. We passed around drinks and chatted late into the night. We did single out Kurt Angle and Bobby Roode for putting on a match that anyone would be proud of, and we wanted to set as the example for top-notch action.</p><p> </p><p> As the night neared day, I packed my suitcase and knew it was time to get back on the road...</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> __________________________________</p><p> </p><p> OOC: I'll update the predictions chart shortly. <p>January Week 3 Preview</p><p> </p><p> After a successful Genesis Pay Per View the staff was buzzing. We were heading into old WCW territory this week and we knew that this week was huge in building up for the coming Against All Odds Pay Per View. As per usual, we first sat down to go over the Xplosion plan.</p><p> </p><p> After a little internal debate we decided to go with an X-Divison match up to open the show. <span style="color:#FF0000;"><strong>Averno</strong></span>, fresh off his PPV debut and defeat at the hands of Abyss would be facing a superstar who was huge in the early going of TNA and made a brief return this summer, <strong><span style="color:#0000FF;">Matt Bentley</span></strong> (the former Michael Shane).</p><p> </p><p> From there we decided that we would transition into back to back Knockouts matches that would help us decide on a contender for Tara to face at Against All Odds, the first match would pit <strong><span style="color:#FF0000;">Madison Rayne</span></strong> against T&A superstar <strong><span style="color:#0000FF;">Brooke Tessmacher</span></strong>.</p><p> </p><p> In the second match we will have the ever popular <span style="color:#0000FF;"><strong>Mickie James</strong></span> take on the latina sparkplug <strong><span style="color:#FF0000;">Sarita</span></strong>. Sarita has been a really dry character recently and we've been discussing potentially pairing her with the Latino Warriors but she will need to perform well in this match for us to continue thinking of this as an idea. Mickie James on the other hand, is a phenomenal worker, but like most of our Knockouts, really without a strong direction.</p><p> </p><p> Speaking of the <strong><span style="color:#0000FF;">Latino Warriors</span></strong>, we want them to get back on track and at least re-establish themselves as a viable team. In order to do this we will be pitting them against <strong><span style="color:#FF0000;">the Robbies</span></strong>, E and T. I love Rob Terry, and while I like the bouncer gimmick, I think there is more to him than that. For now we are sticking with the Jersey Shore theme, but we might be looking to add a cousin to the equation.</p><p> </p><p> Finally in the main event we are giving it another go with <strong><span style="color:#0000FF;">King Mo</span></strong>. The road agents think he is still incredibly raw but the writers think he is a good draw. I tend to disagree with the writers on this, but we are running a focus group and pitting him against a member of the Aces and Eights, <strong><span style="color:#FF0000;">Knox</span></strong>, in order to see if the fan interest is there.</p><p> </p><p> Pretty straight forward show, no real surprises here, but that's the ultimate point of Xplosion.</p><p> </p><p> As for Impact! That meeting was a lot more eventful.</p><p> </p><p> At Genesis during the online pre-show we saw Matt Morgan eliminate Samoa Joe to win the 10-man battle royal. Tonight <strong><span style="color:#0000FF;">Samoa Joe</span></strong> looks for revenge as he challenges <strong><span style="color:#FF0000;">Matt Morgan</span></strong> one on one. I love both of these guys and think they both can factor into our plans for growth moving forward. This should be a great opening bout.</p><p> </p><p> From there the team of <strong><span style="color:#FF0000;">Kid Kash and Gunner</span></strong> are going to defend their titles against the thrown-together team of <strong><span style="color:#0000FF;">Christian York and Wes Briscoe</span></strong>. York and Briscoe may be a new and potentially temporary team and we know that the fans will be pulling for the underdogs. The fact of the matter though is that the Aces and Eights are hunting for and defending their gold. This storyline, I believe is going to draw fans in, and in the end this match helps move that forward.</p><p> </p><p> We are also discussing a potential angle taking Hulk Hogan out once again. One of the things we are looking to do is make Hulk a focal point of the company without making him the face of the company. One way we can do this is by really limiting his on-screen role. He'll still be the GM and still make announcements, but we want the fans to think of TNA as the company for Wrestling, not the company for inflated egos. Hulk has been good about this new direction so far, but I am told that he has been known to change his mind on a whim.</p><p> </p><p> The newly crowned X-Division champion <strong><span style="color:#FF0000;">Austin Aries</span></strong> is beginning his reign as the Greatest X-Division Champion that ever lived with a defense against a returning X-Division star, <strong><span style="color:#0000FF;">Jay Lethal</span></strong>. Aries wants to hold the title until Destination X where he plans to once again cash in on his World Title opportunity, but Jay Lethal could play spoiler and force Aries to find a different route to the title. Also, after sacrificing RVD to the Aces and Eights will Aries be confronted by them again? We know they want all the gold in TNA, but I'm thinking that the pursuit is the fun behind the story, they don't always need to be actively recruiting members. </p><p> </p><p> Abyss's Stages of Hell will continue with another short story warning him that the second stage is arriving soon. For those fans live, they will see Abyss in action on the preshow dark matches, so be sure to arrive early.</p><p> </p><p> We also have an angle planned that will help further Bad Influence's cockiness. One thing I love about Kazarian and Daniels is that they both are great on-camera. Win or lose the fans love to see them in the ring and hate to see them taunting and teasing the faces of this company. We mentioned at Genesis that <strong><span style="color:#FF0000;">Kazarian</span></strong> will face <strong><span style="color:#0000FF;">Rob Van Dam</span></strong> tonight, but we also are adding <strong><span style="color:#0000FF;">Bully Ray</span></strong> versus <strong><span style="color:#FF0000;">Daniels</span></strong> to this picture. Both should be great matches and win or lose we know that Bad Influence will continue enjoying the fruits of their labor.</p><p> </p><p> Prior to the nights main event we will have a face-to-face confrontation between Bobby Roode and Jeff Hardy for Against All Odds. Roode was an absolute star at Genesis and Hardy pushed himself to vintage Jeff Hardy levels. We expect this feud to be a huge reason to buy the Against All Odds Pay-Per-View!</p><p> </p><p> Finally in the main event we are booking Aces and Eights, <span style="color:#FF0000;"><strong>Devon and DOC</strong></span>, against <strong><span style="color:#0000FF;">Kurt Angle and James Storm</span></strong>. To explain the main event we have a couple of stories to tell throughout the night. James Storm was DDT'd onto the concrete by Devon during Genesis and will be wrestling with his head heavily bandaged, Kurt Angle lost to Bobby Roode at Genesis and now goes back to focusing on the Aces and Eights. Devon and DOC meanwhile want to establish themselves as a main-event mainstay and this match will help develop and create the feud that will lead to the co-Main Event we have planned for Against All Odds.</p><p> </p><p> We do have at least one major surprise in store for this week and I am looking forward to seeing the crowd response to his return!</p><p> </p><p> That's all for now, hope your all looking forward to this week!</p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="36078" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><p> Quick Picks:</p><p> Xplosion</p><p> Averno vs. Matt Bentley</p><p> Brooke Tessmacher vs. Madison Rayne</p><p> Mickie James vs. Sarita</p><p> Latino Warriors vs. The Robbies</p><p> King Mo vs. Knox</p><p> </p><p> Impact!</p><p> Matt Morgan vs. Samoa Joe</p><p> Christian York and Wes Briscoe vs. Kid Kash and Gunner (Tag Titles)</p><p> Austin Aries vs. Jay Lethal (X-Division Title)</p><p> Bully Ray vs. Daniels</p><p> Kazarian vs. RVD</p><p> Aces and Eights (Devon and DOC) vs. James Storm and Kurt Angle</p><p> </p></div></blockquote>

Lovely work as ever :) keep it up bro... Also, if i was a member of the King Mo Focus Group, I'd say I WAS interested in seeing him wrestle... I think a tag team would help, as he would learn the 'ropes' from his partner... and get to work with your excellent tag team division (Bad influence, Latino Warriors, Kid Kash, plenty of experience in there) In a TNA game I did once, he teamed with Kenny King as 'The Kings' or something similar... You're welcome to use that idea if you need it my friend...

Quick Picks:

Xplosion

Averno vs. Matt Bentley

Get back on track...

Brooke Tessmacher vs. Madison Rayne

Mickie James
vs. Sarita

Latino Warriors vs. The Robbies

Prefer the Robbies... especially as a fellow Welshman... but I don't think they win here...

King Mo vs. Knox

Impact!

Matt Morgan vs. Samoa Joe

Christian York and Wes Briscoe vs. Kid Kash and Gunner (Tag Titles)

York/Briscoe, interesting team...

Austin Aries vs. Jay Lethal (X-Division Title)

Not tonight, but maybe one day...

Bully Ray vs. Daniels

Kazarian vs. RVD

Aces and Eights (Devon and DOC) vs. James Storm and Kurt Angle

Head injury is serious business... He should not be working tonight, what were you thinking??!?!? lolol... But the injury is the difference here...

While The Robbies looked great in their match cardigans, they were no match for the angry Latino Warriors, Chavo hit the Three Amigos and Hernandez hit Robbie E with the Border Toss. In the end Robbie T didn't bother breaking up the pinfall, hinting at a possible dissension within the ranks and allowed the Latino Warriors an easy victory.</p><p> </p><p> <strong><em>--Latino Warriors defeated The Robbies</em></strong></p><p> </p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="36078" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><p> We played a recap video from the revealing of the members of Aces and Eights, this allowed up to transition nicely into the Main Event.</p><p> </p><p> In the Main Event <strong><span style="color:#0000FF;">King Mo</span></strong> and <span style="color:#FF0000;"><strong>Knox</strong></span> did battle in an utterly awful match-up. King Mo eventually got Knox to tap, but we had decided that he needed more seasoning before the match anyhow and had the Aces and Eights swarm the ring and beat him down post-match as we went off the air. This will allow us to write him off the air for awhile while he goes to OVW to become a better wrestler. In a bit we will bring him back, and I think we will likely pair him with a veteran face in a tag team in order to help cover his weaknesses and teach him some of the nuances of professional wrestling. As for Knox, ugh, he has looked horrendous so far and the fans aren't buying him as a viable title contender for the Aces and Eights. We may need to find something to do with him.</p><p> </p><p> <strong><em>--King Mo defeated Knox via Armbar</em></strong></p><p> </p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong><span style="color:#FF0000;">Impact!</span></strong></p></div><p></p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="36078" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><p> As we went live on Spike! TV the audience was going wild. We opened with the obligatory post PPV recap and showed the live audience some clips from the Pre-PPV battle royal that <strong><span style="color:#FF0000;">Matt Morgan</span></strong> won. This allowed the show to open with Matt Morgan taking on <strong><span style="color:#0000FF;">Samoa Joe</span></strong> in the opening bout. Joe is a great competitor and he is willing to do whatever it takes to carry the brand and carry other workers. While his look isn't great and I think some casual fans aren't interested in him, the hardcore fans love him. The opposite is true of Matt Morgan. Morgan seems to attract the casual fans with his look and brute strength, but the hardcore fans see him as a big man who hasn't ever really reached the pinnacle. As for this match, it was a great back and forth battle and really got the crowd going. In the end Matt Morgan hit a massive Carbon Footprint out of nowhere and got the win.</p><p> </p><p> <strong><em>--Matt Morgan defeated Samoa Joe via Carbon Footprint</em></strong></p><p> </p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="36078" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><p> Backstage we see <span style="color:#0000FF;"><strong>Christian York and Wes Briscoe</strong></span> talking about how they were both on Gut Check and how this is their chance to win some gold. Again we really don't have much for these guys to do, so we paired them together to gain some good tv time for them. We went to break with a video package showing the title match was next.</p><p> </p><p> <strong><span style="color:#FF0000;">Kid Kash and Gunner</span></strong> came down to the ring on matching black Harley Davidson's with the tag titles wrapped around the front of the belt and the chains they've been carrying draped over their shoulders. York and Briscoe charged early and got some offense in, but Kash and Gunner have been looking more and more like an established tag team and worked over the inexperienced team they were facing. In the end Gunner hit Briscoe with a massive spinebuster and got the win.</p><p> </p><p> <strong><em>--Kid Kash and Gunner defeated Christian York and Wes Briscoe to retain the TNA Tag Titles</em></strong></p><p> </p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="36078" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><p> As this match ended we rushed backstage where we see Brooke Hogan screaming and her father laying bloodied on the ground. Aries proudly boasted that this reign with the X-Division Title will be even greater than his last, and once again it will end at Destination X with him cashing in and winning the World Heavyweight Title once again. <span style="color:#0000FF;"><strong>Jay Lethal</strong></span> made his return next, to a great pop may I add, and would be Aries first challenge in his quest for Destination X. This match was great and easily was the best match of night. It is because of matches like this that I am pushing for an expansion of the X-Division. I believe that the X-Divison draws in a certain group of fans and it is a segment that we could really activate. Aries defended his title, but Lethal really looked great throughout the match.</p><p> </p><p> <strong><em>--Austin Aries defeated Jay Lethal via Brainbuster to defend his X-Division Title</em></strong></p><p> </p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="36078" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><p> Backstage we see an Abyss mask stapled to the wall. Blood appears to dripping down the wall, as the camera pans up we can see that the words read "REDRUM"... The camera man pans around the room and stops on the opposing wall where the mirror is visible. On the table beneath the mirror a note reads, Stage Two... NEXT WEEK. If you look carefully in the mirror you can also see that REDRUM is Murder. This is obviously a reference to The Shining but these dark angles are a great way to move the Stages of Hell storyline along. Abyss' opponent for stage two is going to be Rellik, a dark character that has been seen on TNA wrestling before.</p><p> </p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="36078" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><p> We go to another room backstage where Rob Van Dam is chatting with Bully Ray. Bad Influence walk up and immediately begin taunting Ray and RVD about their respective losses at Genesis (they fail to acknowledge they also lost). This prompts Bully Ray to get into the face of Daniels before RVD reminds him to chill, and take it out in the ring tonight. Bad Influence leave the room as we go to commercials.</p><p> </p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="36078" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><p> Back from the break we head to the ring where we will see <span style="color:#0000FF;"><strong>Bully Ray</strong></span> taking on <span style="color:#FF0000;"><strong>Daniels</strong></span>. On the surface we were hoping this match would be a star, but we were sorely disappointed. Bully Ray had a great match at Genesis and Christopher Daniels is always a solid worker. Despite this, this match just fell flat. In the end Bully Ray hit Daniels with the Sit-Out Powerbomb and got the pinball. </p><p> </p><p> <strong><em>--Bully Ray defeated Christopher Daniels</em></strong></p><p> </p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="36078" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><p> Daniels partner <span style="color:#FF0000;"><strong>Kazarian</strong></span> was in action next, taking on <span style="color:#0000FF;"><strong>Rob Van Dam</strong></span>, and this match we weren't expecting as much out of, but instead were treated to a classic X-Division match-up. Kazarian is a great worker and RVD still has some left in the tank. The result was a phenomenally crisp match-up that the fans were going wild for. Kazarian appeared to have it won when suddenly Hernandez and Chavo appeared on the ramp. Kazarian lost focus and RVD rolled him up and stole a victory. The Latino Warriors and Bad Influence have faced each other twice this month, but we're giving it one more go to wrap the month up and this was a good way to signal that the Latino Warriors wanted to face Bad Influence once again.</p><p> </p><p> <strong><em>--Rob Van Dam defeated Kazarian via quick roll-up</em></strong></p><p> </p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="36078" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><p> We head backstage where we see a sharply dressed Bobby Roode standing by with Jeremy Borash. JB and Roode have a long conversation about Roode's new standing as number one contender and the fact that he will have to defeat Jeff Hardy to earn his title back. Right as Roode is running Hardy down, Jeff enters the picture. Jeff isn't great at speaking, but his character is absolutely loved by the fans. He says little but pats Roode on the shoulder as he walks on, leaving some paint on Roode's suit and causing Roode to fume.</p><p> </p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="36078" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><p> Mike Tenay and Taz hyped that the main event was next, but Tenay said he has gotten word that <span style="color:#0000FF;"><strong>James Storm</strong></span> hasn't been cleared to wrestle by the medical staff and <span style="color:#0000FF;"><strong>Kurt Angle</strong></span> will likely go at it alone against <span style="color:#FF0000;"><strong>Devon and DOC</strong></span>, who are already in the ring. Angle makes his way down and this one starts as a handicapped match. The screen splits during the opening minutes of the match and we see James Storm backstage taking a concussion test with a Doctor. The Doctor keeps asking Storm to stop drinking his beer. Storm clocks the Doctor with the beer, quips "Sorry Bout Your Damn Luck" and appears to be heading to the ring. It was cheesy but the audience loved it. Storm made it down to the ring in time for Angle to tag him in. Back and forth this match went but Storm appeared dizzy and woozy throughout leaving Angle to fend for himself for much of the match. DOC and Devon began double-teaming Angle and Storm seemed to have enough of his inability to fight at 100% as he joined in the fracas. Earl Hebner lost control and called for the bell as the Aces and Eights took control and the three other members entered the ring for a 5 on 2 beatdown. Suddenly Sting came flying down the aisle, making his TNA return and swinging his trademark black bat wildly clearing the ring of the Aces and Eights.</p><p> </p><p> <strong><em>--Aces and Eights and Kurt Angle/James Storm went to a No Contest when Earl Hebner lost control</em></strong></p><p> </p><p> Sting, Angle and Storm stood tall (well, Angle and Sting stood tall and Storm was held up by his partners) as the show went off the air.</p><p> </p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> Well there you have it, Sting is back and he wants blood. This is the beginning of the end for the TNA vs. Aces and Eights storyline, at least as we know it now. This segment of the story will lead us into Against All Odds and we think what we have planned could be a classic match-up in TNA history.</p><p> </p><p> ____________________________________</p><p> Will be updated with the standings soon. I dont comment a lot and pretty much never vote on predictions. I really only follow real world diaries that seem interesting to me from the titles. No offense, some of you guys (and girls?) do a great job with other stuff that I dont read. I actually just recently found time to do some catching up on diaries and found this one. Thank you good sir. I like the company/time period. I like your presentation. And I find your alternate take to be refreshing. I know how it is to work lots of hours and not have time for much else, although 80+ hours is insane. I use to love writing yet I've never tried my own diary for some reason. Are you a writer or editor in real life?

Week 4 January 2013, Preview

We sat around the conference room table, still riding the high from a successful week last time out. This week we knew that we needed to move the story lines we debuted forward, specifically the Sting, Storm, Angle vs. Aces and Eights storyline and the Jeff Hardy and Robert Roode storyline. We also had some minor storylines and future plans that we wanted to develop with this set of shows. As such we started by discussing Xplosion.

With Xplosion we decided that we wanted to open the show up with an X-Division showcase between Kenny King and Jay Lethal. Lethal had a very successful debut, albeit loss to Austin Aries last week and this would be a good showcase for him. As for King, we have a specific storyline for him in mind and now that we have confirmed that we have the pieces needed in place we will move forward with it.

We will follow that match and angle with another angle and match involving the X-Division. Joey Ryan will be continuing his perverse ways with a skit taking place in the Knockouts locker room. He will then set out...or be kicked out... and face Sonjay Dutt.

Up next we have Aces and Eights member Knox taking on Go Shiozaki. This match was designed to get Knox back on track and we hope that Shiozaki can help with this plan. We shall see though. This is a big make or break moment for Knox.

Finally we wrap Xplosion up with an introduction of Abyss' Second Stage of Hell. The second stage is Rellik. Rellik is a character designed and created by the former Johnny "The Bull" Stamboli. TNA attempted to introduce him in the late 2000's but this time we are planning to use him merely to move this storyline forward. Ultimately we may have Stamboli appear as his Bull character as well. So Abyss vs. Rellik is the main event of Xplosion.

As for Impact! Last week we saw Austin Aries boasting that he was the Greatest That Ever Lived, this week he has a chance to prove himself in a three-way dance with two ex-X-Division champs wanting his title. Aries will take on Rob Van Dam and Zema Ion with the title on the line. RVD looked good in his win last week against Kazarian and Zema Ion had a great showing in week two on Xplosion.

The aforementioned Kazarian meanwhile will be teaming with Daniels to once again take on the Latino Warriors. Two weeks ago Bad Influence defeated the Warriors, but Chavo and Hernandez insist it was a fluke and they are refocused and determined to re-earn their gold.

We will follow that match up with an angle involving four divas in a catfight backstage. This catfight will lead to a tag team match-up between Gail Kim/Madison Rayne and Mickie James/Velvet Sky. This should be a great Knockouts match-up and should help the audience remember that our Knockouts really pack a punch.

After that we have what we call a time-filler. Mr. Anderson takes on Robbie E. While Mr. Anderson is planned to move onto bigger things shortly, we need to keep him in the fans minds. Robbie E is the perfect match-up for Anderson.

Up next we have Matt Morgan. Morgan is a guy who we see with star potential oozing out of him. That said, we think he still needs a veteran to help carry him to those heights. As such we are putting him into a confrontation angle with Bully Ray that will lead to a match between the two. This is part of a bigger storyline, and will be used to help explain a future development.

As we roll into the final segments and matches of the night we will have a face-to-face confrontation between Team TNA, Sting, James Storm and Kurt Angle and Aces and Eights members, Gunner, DOC and Devon. This will lead into the final two match ups of the evening.

We will see DOC tangle with Kurt Angle in what could be a sleeper for match-up of the night and will certainly help move this storyline forward.

In the main event Devon will be defending his Television title against James Storm. This match should be a solid one and should again help us take the steps needed to move into Against All Odds.

Oh and don't worry, Bobby Roode and Jeff Hardy also have a big angle on the show that will help us promote their match-up at Against All Odds.

OOC: I'll be updating the standings after this show (I know I need to add Week 3 in) I've been crazy busy, but I think i'll get this show up in 24-36 hours.

InfiniteKillz thank you for the kind words and I am glad you are enjoying the style this is written in. While I have some formal training in writing and editing this is merely a creative release for me. I always find that unique perspectives are the most interesting ways to follow a story, so I try to provide that. Glad to know that you enjoy it!
