January Week 4 Shows

I paced around the room we had set aside in the Hooker Creek Events Center, in the ring Robbie T was taking down a German import named Patrick Schulz. Alex Wright really likes Schulz and we are sending him to OVW to work directly with Alex. As the fans settled in and I heard the call for five minutes until showtime, I started to relax a little.

Xplosion opened with our announcers running down the events at the end of last weeks Impact! The fans were reacting positively as Jay Lethal and Kenny King took to the ring for the first match. Lethal had a phenomenal match last week in his debut and we see big things for him in the X-Division. He took King down relatively easily and at the conclusion of the match offered King his hand. King shook his head, looking frustrated and ultimately opted not to shake Lethal's hand. Leaving fans wondering if he was turning heel.

The cameras panned backstage where Velvet Sky appeared to be getting ready for the night... suddenly she lets out a scream as she sees Joey Ryan sitting in the corner of the locker room. It appears he has made himself at home in the Knockouts locker-room. Velvet screams and Ryan opts to head to the ring, blowing Sky a kiss as he leaves.

Returning from the first commercial break we saw Sonjay Dutt and Joey Ryan do battle. Again this was a good showcase for the X-Division but in the end Ryan gets the win. We really like Ryan, though we aren't sure where we are going with his character. Meanwhile, Dutt is a good worker, but is without any direction.

--Joey Ryan defeats Sonjay Dutt

We saw a video clip of the Aces and Eights proclaiming they were out for all the titles in TNA. The video also showed that Knox had been the weakest link recently. This was an effort to make Knox look stronger as he took on Go Shiozaki. While the fans don't really react to Shiozaki, he is a great work but even with him carrying the match, Knox really struggled. Knox got the win, but the fans just aren't buying him. Guess we will have to execute the plan we were looking at for March a little early...

--Knox defeated Go Shiozaki

As we returned from the final break we saw a video highlighting the Stages of Hell Abyss has been tasked with facing before he meets the man behind these challenges. Tonight he faces Rellik. Rellik provides Abyss with a good match-up size wise. Ultimately though Abyss slams Rellik away and moves onto Stage Three.

--Abyss defeated Rellik

IMPACT LIVE!

As we go live to the air, Austin Aries comes heading on down to the ring microphone in hand. We love Aries because he cuts a killer promo and really gets the crowd fired up. Oh yeah, he is also a phenomenally fun worker to watch live. His opponents tonight are Rob Van Dam and Zema Ion. Aries says that he chose this triple threat match-up in order to show his versatility. Throughout the match Aries is the target, but Ion ultimately tries to roll-up RVD to get the win and steal the belt. This appears to piss Aries off, and he drills Ion with the Brainbuster and gets the cover just as RVD comes back into the picture.

--Austin Aries defeated Zema Ion and Rob Van Dam to retain the X-Division Title

Backstage we see Bad Influence sitting at a makeshift bar sipping Apple-Tini's. Daniels and Kazarian seem to have no worries about the rematch with the Latino Warriors.

We went to the commercial break just as they were pouring another round.

As Bad Influence makes their entrance we see that Daniels has brought four Martini glasses and a shaker with him to the ring. As the Latino Warriors enter the ring, Bad Influence offers to whip them up a batch. Chavo and Hernandez attack instead. This match was a ton better than the match-up they had two weeks ago. The fans were hot the entire time and really loved what was going on. The ending came when Daniels threw the contents of his martini shaker into the eyes of Hernandez, temporarily blinding him and allowing Kazarian to roll him up for the flash pinfall. We went with this ending to show that the Latino Warriors are on a bad luck streak but that we still like them. It also showed that Daniels and Kazarian will play dirty as necessary.

--Bad Influence defeated Latino Warriors

The cameras hurry backstage where we see the Knockouts pulling apart a catfight between four of them. These four ladies will be in action, next.

Mickie James makes her way out to the ring first. The fans love her, but not as much as they love watching her partner Velvet Sky free the pigeons! Their opponents (Gail Kim and Madison Rayne) head to the ring together and this match got off to a contentious start. Taz mentions that the girl who gets the pinfall is likely to be the number one contender to Tara. That girl wound up being Mickie James who pinned Madison Rayne while Gail and Velvet fought at ringside.

--Mickie James and Velvet Sky defeated Gail Kim and Madison Rayne

As we returned from break we got a chance to see a clip of "The List" from TNAwrestling.com. On the clip Mr. Anderson tries to get on The List to no avail. Tonight he takes on, and quickly takes out Robbie E with the Mic Check.

--Mr. Anderson defeated Robbie E via Mic Check

Backstage we see Jeremy Borash interviewing Bully Ray. Ray puts over Sting and says that he is happy to offer his services to team TNA if they are wanting to go to battle with the Aces and Eights. Just as he appears to be moving to the next point of his speech Matt Morgan steps in and interrupts Bully Ray. Morgan says that when he asked for help last year, Ray ignored him. When he was growing up in this business, Ray bullied him. And tonight he wants that all to end. He says that if Ray is a man he will meet him in the ring tonight.

We have a much bigger storyline to be told with this, but this is the start of it and the fans reacted really well to it.

As for the match between the two heavyweights, it wasn't as impressive. Bully Ray and Matt Morgan never really gelled tonight and it made the match a bit sloppy. In the end Bully Ray defeated Matt Morgan and Morgan was left wondering if his career was stalled.

--Bully Ray defeated Matt Morgan

Backstage we see the Aces and Eights in their clubhouse. Devon speaks for the group saying that while they respect Sting, Angle and James Storm for the amount of gold they have captured, they outnumber them five to three. Devon says that contrary to popular belief, the Aces are willing to make this an even fight. Devon says that at Against All Odds the Aces are challenging Sting, Storm, Angle and two other partners to a five on five last man standing, War Games match-up. When the Aces and Eights win, they say they have been assured a shot at the World Title.

The Aces and Eights, determined to prove that they aren't always into sneak attacks send DOC out to the ring alone to face Kurt Angle. Angle comes out alone as well and carries this match-up. As the match progresses we see the Aces and Eights make their way down out of the crowd, as this is happening Sting and James Storm head down the aisle. They are joined by Bully Ray who shakes hands with them. The two teams surround the ring, but that is as far as they go. Kurt Angle locks in the Angle Lock and gets the win as he stares down Devon and the Aces.

--Kurt Angle defeated DOC

As things around the ring get heated, we pan backstage where we see Jeff Hardy arriving in the arena. Suddenly he is attacked by Bobby Roode. Roode takes Hardy out and then poses with the title while cutting a quick promo hyping the match-up for Against All Odds.

We kept this short as we were running low on time, but it also serves another purpose. Roode cuts killer promos, but Hardy struggles with them. This keeps the heat on Roode while making Hardy look like the struggling champion.

We head back to the ring where we see the Aces and Team TNA still at ringside with security keeping them separate. James Storm and Devon slide into the ring for the Main Event. As the Main Event gets going Hulk Hogan comes out to the ring and orders everyone except the combatants to the backstage area. He says that if anyone interferes this match-up will be ended and the title vacated. Both teams comply. This match-up was a good one, and went back and forth through a commercial break. The conclusion saw Devon pick-up the win and retain the TV title.

--Devon defeated James Storm to retain the TNA TV Title

And so that wraps up another successful Impact! Time sure flies as we are only two more sets of shows away from Against All Odds!

February Backstage Meeting and Show Previews

Wow, my first month as the creative consultant with TNA is already over. Only five more remain on my original contract. So far the response from the fans has been very solid, and we think we have some phenomenal stories coming right down the pipeline. At our morning meetings we all agreed that the only hope King Mo has to become an effective member of our roster is to go to OVW and learn from our training staff. We are even looking at adding some new pieces to the training staff. We've added a lot of second-generation superstars to OVW in the last month and have been really hoping to turn it into a showcase market for the future of Impact! Currently they run a weekly TV show in the Ohio Valley and we are thinking about potentially broadcasting it via TNAwrestling.com (In other words I'll post the quick results from OVW TV!, likely no value behind it but some times people like that sort of thing).

Now that we've rolled into February we will be going completely organic with Xplosion, meaning if a wrestler wrestles on Xplosion he won't appear on Impact in the ring. He will still be around for the show, but don't expect many more double bookings (we do have one this week). Furthermore, we will primarily only feature the Midcard and below on the show, with a rare visit from an Upper Midcarder or Main Eventer.

With that said we've set up the following card for February's first Xplosion.

Jay Lethal takes on an opponent who has a deep history with Kenny King and whom King says is his best friend. That man is Rhett Titus and he and King will be teaming up to form the All Night Express in TNA. We aren't sure how the fans will react, but it'll be a good experiment and a good chance for us to add a X-Division tag team to the mix.

Go Shiozaki will be in action, taking on Robbie E's bodyguard Robbie T.

And in the main event we have the Knockout Titles #1 Contendership as Mickie James will do battle with Gail Kim.

As for Impact! We are starting things off with a some tag action as the Latino Warriors once again try to get back on track, this week they take on the debuting as team in TNA, All Night Express. King and Titus' alliance will be revealed on Xplosion and further explained on Impact. In the end Chavo and Hernandez have been great sports about this recent "downward spiral" and we do like them as a team.

We've got an amazing promo video for a returning star and it will air this week. Our production staff is top-notch and I think you'll love what you see.

We also have Austin Aries scheduled to meet with Hulk Hoganand name his stipulation for Against All Odds... He'll also ask Hogan who he is facing. After all Aries is the Greatest Of All Time, and doesn't need to prepare for facing people.

During the aforementioned Aries/Hogan segment, Hogan will announce that there will be two contenders, one will be determined this week in a six-man X-Division showcase, the other will be revealed on Xplosion next week in a four-man showcase. As for tonight's six-man, the contenders are: Christian York, Elix Skipper, Jay Lethal, Sonjay Dutt, Volador Jr and Zema Ion. This is a one fall wins it all match-up.

We have Tara and the winner from Xplosion going face to face, leading to a Knockouts tag-match that will feature four knockouts paired up. Those four knockouts are Gail Kim, Mickie James, Tara and Velvet Sky. Usually we don't want to double book people especially the divas, but we chose to do it here because of the need to push the Knockout division.

Abyss will face his third stage of hell. The man tormenting Abyss will be sending Abyss a package. In that package Abyss will find that his next stage of hell is the man known as Cibernetico. That match will happen immediately after the promo airs.

We now know that at Against All Odds Aces and Eights will be taking on Team TNA in a War Games style match-up. We know the five members of Aces and Eights, but we only know four of the members Team TNA (Sting, Storm, Angle and Ray) but tonight the fifth will be revealed.

That fifth member will be in action in the main event, teaming with Bully Ray to take on DOC and Knox. Knox has been struggling recently so we are hoping this match won't flop because of him.

The other three members of Aces and Eights are also in action tonight as they will take on the team of Rob Van Dam, Samoa Joe and Garrett Bischoff.

Bad Influence will be on the show, and of course there will be the contract signing and stipulation naming for Jeff Hardy versus Bobby Roode!
