Woo time for the Great American Bash! I love the Bash :D

WCW World Heavyweight Championship

Shawn Michaels © vs. Sting

I'm going for the upset. Call me crazy, but my logic is that the Great American Bash is as WCW a show as you are going to find without being Starrcade. Even if Sting doesn't hold the title for long, he takes the match here.

The Streak Is On The Line

Goldberg vs. Kevin Nash

Goldberg goes 2-1 against "Big Sexy".

Grudge Match

Diamond Dallas Page vs. Scott Steiner

Steiner winning will help groom this one into Kanyon/DDP vs Steiners.

WCW United States Championship

Scott Hall © vs. Booker T

The nWo still need to hold some cards, so they retain the US title.

WCW Tag Team Championship

Sons Of The South © vs. The Impact Players

If the World title changes, it'd be a great story if the other titles stayed.

Grudge Match

Mike Sanders vs. Sean O'Haire

Huge card for probably the second biggest PPV of the year for WCW! It's all leading up nicely also to another of my favorite PPVs - Fall Brawl and War Games. You're making great strides in re-establishing WCW as a competitor and I can't wait to see more of your progress as you get to the new year.

Official WCW Great American Bash 2002 Card

WCW World Heavyweight Championship

Shawn Michaels © vs. Sting

- My gut is saying HBK will retain to take on Goldberg, but I really want to see Sting recapture the title and have a good run with it. WCW in real life really never gave Sting a good solid run that he deserved in the later years. Starrcade 97 should have seen Sting hold the belt well into 1998 and in my opinion even until Starrcade 98.

The Streak Is On The Line

Goldberg vs. Kevin Nash

- No question that Goldberg wins

Grudge Match

Diamond Dallas Page vs. Scott Steiner

WCW United States Championship

Scott Hall © vs. Booker T

- I think the NWO will primarily lose, but Hall will be the one victor. Besides, Booker doesn't need the US title and him winning it would really do nothing for me. The NWO will need some sort of bragging rights and momentum if the rest of them lose.

WCW Tag Team Championship

Sons Of The South © vs. The Impact Players

- I think the IP get the titles back here. Although I'd like to see Storm eventually enter the World title pictures. I've had great success with him.

Grudge Match

Mike Sanders vs. Sean O'Haire

WCW Cruiserweight Championship

Chavo Guerrero Jr.© vs. Shane Helms vs. Aguila

- I'll admit, I wasn't too into Chavo holding the title when he first got it, but your storyline with him has been fantastic and even though he's a heel, it's really gotten me on his side. I pegged him to lose every time up until the last couple PPV's and he's always come out victorious. I'd rather see Chavo use underhanded tactics to keep the title, but I think this is where you finally pull the plug on his title reign. Of course, I'd love to pick Chavo to lose just so he comes out of left field with the win again!

WCW US Title Nr.1 Contender 20 Man Battle Royal

Bam Bam Bigelow, Chuck Palumbo, Davey Boy Smith, El Mesías, Ernest Miller, Hugh Morrus, Jeff Jarrett, Mark Jindrak, Marty Jannetty, Norman Smiley, Rey Misterio Jr., Rick Steiner, Crowbar, Shawn Stasiak, Yoshihiro Tajiri, Yun Yang, Kaz Hayashi, Vampiro, Aries, Kanyon

WCW Tag Team Championship Nr.1 Contenders Match

The Nasty Boys vs. KroniK vs. The Boogie Knights

- Probably not and a very long shot, but I want to see the BK get a good run.

Bonus Questions:

Which match will open the show?

- Cruiserweight match. You'll want a solid opener.

Which match will be the highest rated of the show?

- Sting vs HBK, by far

Who will be the final four in the US Title Number One contender battle royal?

- El Mesías, Kanyon, Rey Jr, Vampiro

Who will be the final elimination in the battle royal?

- El Mesías

Who will have the most eliminations in the battle royal?

- El Mesías

Week 4, July, 2002

Live from the BankAtlantic Center in Sunrise, Florida

Attendance: 22.457 (sellout)

http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/TonySchiavone3.jpghttp://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/MikeTenay3.jpghttp://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/DustyRhodes.jpg

The show kicks off with an impressive pyro display that brings the entire sell-out crowd to its feet and we then head to the announce table where Tony Schiavone, Mike Tenay and Dusty Rhodes sits ready to guide everyone through tonight's huge event. The trio hypes up the card, talking primarily about the "big four" match; the dream match of Shawn Michaels versus Sting for the WCW World Heavyweight Championship, Goldberg versus Kevn Nash, Scott Hall versus Booker T for the WCW United States Championship and Diamond Dallas Page versus Scott Steiner. They do eventually end up at the one match that is just a little bit bigger than the rest of them; the main event where Shawn Michaels will go one on one with Sting for the first time ever. Tony says that tonight is going to be an absolutely huge night in the history of WCW and, thankfully, we won't have to wait any longer because it is time to kick off the biggest blockbuster event of the summer; the Great American Bash!

WCW United States Championship

The Great American Bash kicked off in style with a huge match as Scott Hall faced off against Booker T with the WCW United States Championship on the line. The nWo has not had much success lately but that did not seem to faze Scott Hall here as he displayed his usual cocky swagger, throwing his toothpick into Booker T's face and laughing about it openly--that is, until Booker nailed Hall with a straight right hand that literally knocked Hall on his ass. From there it was all Booker T in the early parts of this one as he stayed on Hall, pressing his advantage and not allowing the US Champion a single moment to rest. Booker even went for the Bookend early, but Hall just barely managed to avoid it and he quickly rolled out of the ring to finally catch his breath following Booker T's hot start. After some stalling tactics from Hall, he finally re-entered the ring and, with a quick thumb to the eye of Booker, Hall managed to finally find his footing in this one, hitting several punches on Booker, a vertical suplex and finally a fallaway slam, putting the US Champion in firm control of the match. With his confidence building again, Hall even took the time to mock Booker T, much to the displeasure of Tony Schiavone who called Hall's behavior "reprehensible and disrespectful". Hall finally set Booker up for the Outsider's Edge, but Booker managed to reverse it by hitting a backdrop on Hall. With the crowd rallying behind him, Booker T went on the offensive once again, hitting Hall with a variety of kicks before finally driving him hard into the mat with a spinebuster. Booker covered Hall, but the Champion managed to kick out after two and a half. Booker pulled Hall back to his feet, but Hall again stuck his thumb in Booker's eye in a desperate attempt to create some separation. Booker and Hall then began trading punches in the middle of the ring until Booker got the better of the exchange, forcing Hall back against the ropes. Irish whip by Booker then, following by a spinning heel kick that got the challenger another two count. As Booker pulled Hall back to his feet, Hall reached into his trunks and pulled out the same pair of brass knuckles he has used several times in the past with great success. Hall put the brass knuckles on his right hand and took a huge swing at Booker......but Booker ducked! Booker kicked Hall in the gut and hit a DDT. Then, sensing his time was at hand, Booker went high risk as he climbed to the top rope and....HARLEM HANGOVER!!!! Booker then covered Hall as quickly as he could and....1....2....3!!!!! We have a NEW WCW United States Champion to open the Great American Bash!!!!

Booker T defeated Scott Hall at 13.48 by pinfall following a Harlem Hangover. Booker T wins the WCW United States Championship (B-)

WCW Tag Team Championship Number One Contenders Match

http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/BrianAdams2.jpghttp://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/BryanClarke.jpgvs.http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/AlexWright2.jpghttp://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/DiscoInferno.jpgvs.http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/BrianKnobbs2.jpghttp://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/JerrySaggs.jpg

Brian Knobbs and Bryan Clarke started things off in this one as the Boogie Knights, despite their recent attempts at getting more screen time, were more than happy to start this match off on the apron, which Mike Tenay noted could be sound strategy as long as they keep an eye on what is happening in the ring as this was a one fall to a finish match and not an elimination match. KroniK and the Nasty Boys spent the first several minutes of this match putting on a solid two on two tag team match, but the Boogie Knights, to their credit, were biding their time and when they saw the opportuity to get involved, they took it. Having stood on the apron and watched KroniK and the Nasty Boys wear each other down, Disco Inferno and Alex Wright had the advantage of freshness and that, combined with frequent tags, helped the Knights to put on an impressive display here. Things did eventually break down, which seemed almost inevitable, and chaos ensued. Jerry Saggs was clotheslined over the top rope by Brian Adams, and with Knobbs down in the ring, it was a two on two brawl between KroniK and the Boogie Knights. KroniK eventually won that battle, leaving the two of them alone in the ring with Brian Knobbs, who they helped back to his feet onto to drive him back onto the ground with their High Times double chokeslam. Adams then made the cover while Bryan Clarke stood guard to ensure that no one could break up the pin.

KroniK defeated The Nasty Boys and The Boogie Knights at 11.48 by pinfall when Adams pinned Knobbs following a High Times. KroniK are the new number one contenders to the WCW Tag Team Championship (C-)

A short video plays hyping up the huge main event of the Great American Bash; for the first time ever Shawn Michaels will go one on one against Sting and he will do so with the WCW World Heavyweight Championship on the line. The announcers talk about the match, once again making sure to hype up the dream match quality of tonight's main event as two of the biggest stars in the history of this business will go one on one for the first time ever. Tony asks the question if Sting and his allies have the nWo's number, pointing out that the nWo has been having a rough time as of late. Mike Tenay points out that the nWo's rough times has already continued tonight as Scott Hall lost the WCW United States Championship to Booker T, and the nWo's night might get a lot worse before it is over. Dusty says that he hope it does get worse because he's more than ready to finally see the end of the New World Order and if anybody can do it, it would be Sting (B-)

WCW Cruiserweight Championship

Back in the ring it was time for some Cruiserweight action as the long reigning Cruiserweight Champion, Chavo Guerrero Jr., was in action as he tried to once again successfully defend his title. The match started off with Chavo leaving the ring as the champion was seemingly content to let Shane Helms and Aguila wear each other out for a while, but the challengers weren't having any of that. As Chavo was busy arguing with some fans at ringside, Helms and Aguila both left the ring, grabbed the Champion and forced him back into the ring. Once in the ring, Helms and Aguila enjoyed a short-lived alliance as they took turns working Chavo over. The two then shook hands, respectfully ending their temporary alliance, and then they started battling each other as well as Chavo. The pace was fast throughout this one, with all three men scoring at least one near-fall during the match. In the end history would repeat itself again, however, as Aguila hit an impactful tornado DDT on Helms, but before he could capitalize on it, Chavo came up from behind and tossed Aguila out of the ring. Chavo then quickly covered Helms for the pinfall and the win as Aguila was just exactly too slow in getting back into the ring to break up the pin.

Chavo Guerrero Jr. defeated Shane Helms and Aguila at 10.06 by pinfall when Chavo pinned Helms. Chavo Guerrero Jr. retains the WCW Cruiserweight Championship.

The very first thing that happened in this match was that El Mesías grabbed poor Norman Smiley by the throat and tossed him over the top rope, making Smiley the first elimination just a few seconds into the match. A few minutes passed by without an elimination, but Marty Jannetty was eliminated by El Mesías as well, while both members of the Jung Dragons were also eliminated, by Kanyon and Davey Boy Smith respectively. Aries and Crowbar were next to go, eliminated by Ernest Miller and Chuck Palumbo. Yoshishiro Tajiri, Hugh Morrus, Rick Steiner and Mark Jindrak were all eliminated over the next few minutes, three of them by El Mesías and the fourth, Morrus, by Kanyon. Rey Misterio Jr. then eliminated Shawn Stasiak, while Bam Bam Bigelow got tossed over the top rope by El Mesías, who was an absolute beast in the ring. As Chuck Palumbo and Vampiro were trying to eliminate each other, Jeff Jarrett ran up behind them, grabbed their feet and dumped them both to the outside for the elimination. Six men were left in the ring but six quickly turned into five when El Mesías scored another elimination by sending Ernest Miller over the top rope. Davey Boy Smith charged at Mesías, looking to eliminate him, but Mesías stepped aside and used Davey Boy's own momentum to eliminate the Bulldog as well and then there were four men left; El Mesías, Kanyon, Jeff Jarrett and Rey Misterio Jr. Jarrett tried to convince Kanyon and Rey Misterio that it was in their best interests to team up against the dominating El Mesías, and they seemed to agree as the combined efforts of all three men were enough to finally eliminate El Mesías, who put on one heck of a performance here tonight. Then, taking advantage of a moment's inattentiveness by Rey Misterio, Jarrett grabbed Rey and threw him over the top rope and then there were two; Jeff Jarrett and Kanyon. Jarrett and Kanyon went back and forth for a bit until it looked like Kanyon had won the match when he threw Jarrett over the top rope, but Jarrett managed to hang on to the top rope to avoid elimination. Realizing he had not won the match yet, Kanyon charged at Jarrett, looking to finish the job, but Jarrett managed to drop down onto the apron, pulling the ropes down with him just enough for Kanyon to go over the top for the final elimination.

Jeff Jarrett won a battle royal at 14.58 when he eliminated Kanyon to be the final surviving participant. Jarrett is the new number one contender to the WCW United States Championship (C+)

http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/EricBischoff3.jpghttp://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/KevinNash2002.jpg

We go backstage where WCW owner Eric Bischoff is with the man who will attempt to end Goldberg's streak later tonight, "Big Sexy" Kevin Nash. Bischoff says that he is counting on Nash to repeat history tonight by once again putting an end to a Goldberg streak and FINALLY giving Goldberg what that son of a bitch deserves. Nash says that, after tonight, Bischoff won't have to worry about Goldberg anymore. In fact, Bischoff should just let Nash "worry" about Goldberg tonight because Bischoff should be much more concerned about making sure that Nash is rewarded appropriately when he is done taking out the trash that is Bill Goldberg. Bischoff smiles and assures Nash that there will be plenty of rewards for him if he does indeed take care of Goldberg tonight. Nash says that there better be and as "Big Sexy" walks off the announcers wonder if Nash is indeed as confident as he appears to be, or if perhaps it is all just an act considering the nWo's recent lack of success? (B)

http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/JoeyStyles2000.jpghttp://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/Shane_Douglas7.jpg

Joey Styles and "The Franchise" Shane Douglas are in the ring as Styles announces that it is time for the first ever official "Miss WCW" bikini contest. Douglas then grabs the mic from Styles and says that he is out here tonight for one reason and one reason only and that is to watch "his girl" Torrie Wilson become the first ever Miss WCW.

http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/TorrieWilson.jpghttp://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/StacyKieblerHeel.jpghttp://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/CheerleaderMelissa.jpghttp://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/LeiaMeow.jpghttp://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/DaffneyUnger.jpg

All of the lovely contestants then make their way down to the ring, all of them wearing robes, and Tony Schiavone admits that he is not quite sure how to "call the action" in something like this. Mike Tenay and Dusty Rhodes aren't much better, and Dusty comments that perhaps the "action" speaks for itself. The women each take their turn removing their robes and revealing their chosen bikini and all of them receive cheers from the males in the audience as Tony notes that, as far as he knows, the contest is supposed to be decided by whoever receives the loudest reaction from the crowd. Melissa, Leia and Daffney all get a good reaction, even if Daffney does look rather out of place in this environment, but the contest seems to come down to a close battle between Torrie and Stacy, who both receives largely the same reaction. Shane Douglas then grabs the mic and he says that it's close, but he is ready to award the win to--surprise, surprise--Torrie Wilson, but Joey Styles reminds Douglas that he is not in any position to determine the winner. It looks like the first ever "Miss WCW" bikini contest might just end in a draw but then...

http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/AngelWilliams.jpg

The beautiful blonde bombshell Angel Williams suddenly makes her way down to the ring, dressed in a similar robe as the ones the rest of the contestants wore as Joey Styles announces that they have a late entry into the contest. Shane Douglas argues that this should not be allowed and even the rest of the contestants seem less than thrilled about this turn of events. Angel enters the ring and disrobes to reveal the tiniest bikini known to man (or something pretty damn close to it) and of course the men in the audience are loving it, cheering loudly enough that it surpasses the reaction Torrie and Stacy got and Angel Williams is crowned the winner of the first ever "Miss WCW" bikini contest, much to the disapproval of pretty much everyone else in the ring. Stacy Keibler, Cheerleader Melissa and Leia Meow are all arguing with Angel, while Shane Douglas appears to be scolding Torrie Wilson for not winning. Daffney, however, decides that talking isn't going to solve anything and she attacks Angel as Stacy, Leia and Melissa are all cheering Daffney on. Shane Douglas leaves the ring, dragging Torrie along with him as always, and security finally hits the ring to break up the chaos as the first ever "Miss WCW" bikini contest comes to a dramatic conclusion (C-)

http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/MikeSanders.jpgvs.http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/SeanOHaire2001.jpg

Mike Sanders came down to the ring alone for this one as both Bam Bam Bigelow and Stacy Keibler had been otherwise engaged earlier tonight and the dislike these two men had for each other was evident right from the get-go as neither man wasted any time in going on the offensive, a strategy that the announcers did not expect from Mike Sanders. The bigger, stronger O'Haire got the better of the exchange and began to dominate, hitting power move after power move to really make Sanders pay for his actions over the past couple of weeks. It looked like it might be over quickly for Sanders as O'Haire went up top looking for the Seanton Bomb, but Sanders managed to avoid the impact at the last second, giving him some much needed breathing time and a chance to turn the tables on O'Haire. A russian legsweep followed by a swinging neckbreaker put Sanders in control of the match, and he then began to work on O'Haire's legs, stretching and pulling at them--anything he could do to inflict damage and take away O'Haire's size advantage, which Dusty Rhodes pointed out was sound strategy. Sanders worked on O'Haire's legs for the next several minutes, but O'Haire would eventually fight his way back into it. Sanders tried to go for the legs again to stall O'Haire's momentum, but O'Haire completed his impressive comeback by putting Sanders down with the Widow Maker for the win.

The match is over and Sean O'Haire is victorious, but he has no time whatsoever to celebrate as he is suddenly attacked from behind by "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair, who slams a steel chair into O'Haire's back. Flair beats O'Haire down some more and then locks in the Figure Four leglock, inflicting even more damage to O'Haire's legs, which were already worked over by Mike Sanders during the match. O'Haire is obviously in a lot of pain as Flair keeps applying more and more pressure. Then, content with the damage he has inflicted, Flair finally releases the Figure Four and starts screaming at O'Haire, asking him who the hell he thinks he is by dumping "The Nature Boy" like a bad date? Flair tells O'Haire that he needs to learn his place and he needs to learn what respect is all about and "The Nature Boy" is going to teach him exactly that! (C+)

WCW Tag Team Championship

These two teams had been battling for the Tag Team Titles for months heading into the Great American Bash and it was obvious right from the start of this one that both teams knew that this was going to be the deciding match. With KroniK becoming the number one contenders earlier in the show, the losing team in this one would go to the back of the line of challengers and they would have a long road ahead of them in terms of securing another title shot. Lance Storm and BH James stated things off by trading holds in the center of the ring, both teams knowing each other so well at this point that they were able to reverse each other's moves. Lance Storm was the superior technical wrestler, however, and he did eventually gain the upper hand against BG James. The Impact Players dominated the next several minutes of the match, using a combination of Storm's technical ability and Mike Awesome's strength and power, along with frequent tags, to maintain control and really punish James. The Players scored several two counts, but James kept kicking out before the three count, despite Ted DiBiase yelling at him to just give it up. James was finally able to find his footing again when he ducked a Mike Awesome clothesline and nailed a desperation DDT to buy himself some time. James slowly crawled his way to his corner and made the hot tag to Dustin Rhodes, who came in and took over. Rhodes hit three clotheslines on Awesome, then hit a standing dropkick, but Awesome kept getting back to his feet. A belly to back suplex from Rhodes was finally enough to keep Awesome down for the moment, but Lance Storm entered the ring illegally and blasted Rhodes from behind. The Impact Players began to double team Dustin Rhodes, but BG James managed to get back to his feet and make it a two on two fight again. James tossed Storm to the outside, but was immediately clotheslined over the top rope by Mike Awesome. Awesome then turned his attention to Rhodes, hitting a trio of power moves before calling for the Awesome Bomb. Awesome hoisted Rhodes up, but Rhodes managed to counter with several punches to the face of Awesome, who eventually stumbled and fell. Rhodes was first to his feet and he grabbed Awesome from behind and hit a Lifting Inverted DDT, which was enough for the pinfall, the win and the successful title defense for Sons Of The South!

Sons Of The South defeated The Impact Players at 14.29 by pinfall when Rhodes pinned Awesome following a Lifting Inverted DDT. Sons Of The South retains the WCW Tag Team Championships (C-)

Another video plays to hype up the huge and history making main event that is still to come later tonight as Shawn Michaels and Sting goes one on one for the first time ever. The video focuses on the past couple of Nitro's, showing footage of Sting getting the better of Michaels two weeks ago on Monday Nitro during the World Title contract signing with Sting hitting the Scorpion Deathdrop on the World Champion. The video comes to an end as we see footage from this past Nitro and the huge brawl that ended the show as Tony, Mike and Dusty again points out that Sting seems to have had Shawn Michaels number in recent weeks, but will that trend continue here tonight at the Great American Bash? The Streak Is On The Line

http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/BillGoldberg2.jpgvs.http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/KevinNash2002.jpg

"Big Sexy" made his entrance first in this one, which came into play shortly after when Goldberg made his entrance and Nash attacked him as soon as Goldberg tried to enter the ring. Tony called it a "typical nWo cheap shot", but the fact remained that Nash had the advantage before the bell had even sounded. Nash stayed on Goldberg, displaying a particular viciousness that Mike Tenay pointed out was probably a direct reaction from Nash to the nWo's recent rough stretch. Nash connected with several hard punches and a couple of elbows to the back of Goldberg's head that looked downright nasty. Nash whipped Goldberg into the corner and began to work him over with knees and elbows before placing his huge boot right in Goldberg's throat, blatantly choking him. The referee began the count, but the veteran Nash was of course smart enough to release the choke at the count of four. Nash dragged Goldberg out of the corner and hit a sidewalk slam, but Goldberg powered out after a two count. Nash stayed on Goldberg, knowing full well that giving Goldberg time to recover was about the worst thing he could possibly do, but even with Nash keeping the punishment coming, Goldberg began to fight back. Three hard elbows to the gut of Nash, followed by a thrust kick, sent "Big Sexy" to the mat and allowed Goldberg to take over. As expected, even against a huge man like Nash, Goldberg went for the power moves; a spinebuster, a powerslam and a full nelson slam--imposing his will on Nash and throwing him around as if he were a much smaller man. Goldberg then set up for the Spear and.....NOO! Nash got one of his huge boots up and Goldberg charged right into it! Sensing his moment was upon him, Nash quickly got Goldberg back up to his feet and hit the Snake Eyes. Then, with Goldberg stunned, Nash set up for the Jackknife Powerbomb and....he drove Goldberg into the mat with it! Is the streak over?!?

2.....

.....NOOOOOO!!!!

Goldberg kicked out and Nash can't believe it. Nash slammed the mat in frustration, but then pulled Goldberg back to his feet and set him up for another Jackknife....and again he drove Goldberg into the mat with considerable viciousness!

2.....

.....NOOOOOO!!!!

Goldberg kicked out again and this time Nash was absolutely livid, even going so far as to grab the referee to complain about the count, but the referee maintained that it was indeed only a two count. After complaining a bit longer, Nash finally abandoned that course of action and pulled down his straps as the announcers all noted that Nash was going in for the kill. Nash set Goldberg up for a third Jackknife Powerbomb, but this time Goldberg managed to power out before Nash could get him up and....

SPEAR!!!!!!!

Goldberg hit the Spear and almost fell into the cover on Nash....

1.....

2.....

.....NOO!!!!

This time it was "Big Sexy" who managed to kick out. But Goldberg wasn't fazed. He set up for another Spear and patiently waited for Nash to get back to his feet while the entire building cheered in anticipation. Nash staggered back to his feet and slowly turned around....

SPEAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Goldberg hit another Spear but this time, instead of going for the cover, Goldberg pulled Nash to his feet and set him up for the Jackhammer as Tony wondered if he would be able to get Nash up.....

JACKHAMMER!!!!

Goldberg managed to hit the Jackhammer on "Big Sexy", much to the delight of the fans, and Goldberg then covered Nash...

2.....

.....3!!!!!!!!

Goldberg beat Nash!

Goldberg defeated Kevin Nash at 13.25 by pinfall following the Spear/Jackhammer combo (C+)

As Goldberg celebrates his huge win in the ring, the announcers talk both about the fact that Eric Bischoff is going to be absolutely outraged by this outcome, but also about how the nWo is now 0 and 2 tonight and then, almost as if on cue, we cut backstage to the man who will be facing Shawn Michaels later tonight for the World Heavyweight Championship; the man called Sting.

http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/Sting3.jpg

Sting says that he hold his friends this past week on Nitro that tonight could very well be a turning point for WCW and with the nWo going 0 and 2 in their matches so far, it appears that it is indeed going to be a turning point. He says that the nWo has overstayed their welcome in WCW and their time is at an end. Booker T proved that tonight. Goldberg proved that tonight. And later tonight, he is going to put the exclamation mark on the message that Booker T and Goldberg has already sent to the nWo here tonight and he is going to do it by defeating Shawn Michaels and claiming the World Heavyweight Championship from the nWo's clutches. So Shawn Michaels better be ready because later tonight....it's SHOWTIME!!!! (B+)

The issues between these two men have been well documented over the years in WCW and the disdain that both men have for each other was evident right from the start in this one as both men met each other in the middle of the ring and began exchanging blows. Mike Tenay pointed out that trying to go blow for blow with "Big Poppa Pump" might not be the best strategy for Diamond Dallas Page, and "The Professor" was spot on as Steiner eventually gained the upper hand. The next several minutes of the match was all Steiner as he tossed DDP around like a rag doll, hitting every suplex variation known to mankind, or so it seemed anyway. Feeling in complete control, "Freakzilla" even took the time to do some push-ups in the middle of the ring, drawing loud boos from the crowd. Steiner taunted DDP and then hit an elbow drop and went for the cover, but DDP kicked out at two. More push-ups from Steiner, who at this point seemed to be taking DDP lightly, which would, of course, turn out to be a huge mistake. As Steiner went for a belly to belly suplex, DDP managed to block it and then punch after punch began to connect for Page, who finished off the barrage with a huge discus punch that took Steiner down. DDP followed up with an inverted atomic drop, a russian legsweep and finally a spinebuster, but Steiner kicked out after two. DDP pressed his advantage with a vertical suplex, followed by a belly to back suplex, but again Steiner powered out at two. Page popped back up to his feet and threw up the Diamond Cutter sign, which was met with a roar of approval from the sell-out crowd. Page took his time, stalking "Freakzilla" and waiting for him to get to his feet and when he did.......

.....3!!!!!----NOOOOO!!!!!!! Steiner just barely managed to get his shoulder up at the very last moment. The announcers were all stunned that Steiner managed to kick out of the Diamond Cutter and even DDP looked a bit unsure about what to do next. Then, after allowing himself a moment of frustration, DDP got back to his to his feet and set Steiner up for another Diamond Cutter, but this time Steiner blocked it, grabbed DDP and drove him face first into the mat with a Steiner Flatliner!

2.....

.....NOOOOO!!!!! This time it was DDP who just barely managed to kick out and Tony complimented both DDP and Scott Steiner for putting it all on the line here tonight at the Great American Bash. Steiner was first to his feet and he began clobbering away on DDP with some heavy blows to the head of DDP. Steiner then dragged Page to the center of the ring, flipped him onto his stomach and applied the Steiner Recliner! The referee was asking DDP if he wanted to give up....

No.

Steiner kept the hold applied, pulling back at DDP's head with his massive arms.

But DDP still said no.

Steiner applied yet more pressure, to the point where the announcers even started to worry about potential long-term damage to DDP's neck. And then, after being locked in the Recliner for what seemed like an eternity, DDP finally had no choice left but to tap out.

Scott Steiner defeated Diamond Dallas Page at 14.38 by submission with the Steiner Recliner (B)

With Scott Steiner standing tall in the ring, having just picked up a huge and hard-fought win, the announcers again put over the efforts of both men before sending us to the back where the WCW World Heavyweight Champion, Shawn Michaels, is standing by.

http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/ShawnMichaels.jpg

With the WCW World Title proudly displayed across his right shoulder, Shawn says that, by now, everybody is probably all excited about how the nWo is and 2 tonight and how the reign of the nWo is finally coming to an end. But there is just one little problem with that; it's not true at all. Shawn says that people talk about change, about a new WCW, but the only thing people should be talking about is the fact that he is still the WCW World Heavyweight Champion, he is still the greatest wrestler of all time and none of that is going to change here tonight at the Great American Bash. It doesn't matter that Booker T defeated Scott Hall. It doesn't matter that Goldberg defeated Kevin Nash. All that matters, the only thing that people will remember about tonight, is that Shawn Michaels is still the World Heavyweight Champion and the nWo is still running this joint! (B+)

We cut back to the announcer table where Tony informs us that the time is finally upon us, the moment we have all been waiting for has finally arrived because it is time for our main event of the evening; Shawn Michaels versus Sting for the WCW World Heavyweight Championship!

"The following contest is scheduled for one fall and it is for the WCW World Heavyweight Championship! Introducing first, representing the New World Order, he is the reigning and defending WCW World Heavyweight Champion; SHAWN MICHAELS!!!!!!!!"

The World Heavyweight Champion makes his way out from the back to a ton of boos from the sell-out crowd. He doesn't seem fazed by it at all however, and he generally looks as cocky and confident as ever, but Tony wonders if that is really how Michaels feels or if perhaps he is simply trying to appear more confident than he really is. Mike adds that the past couple of weeks, as well as the lack of success that the nWo have had tonight, has to have had an impact on the Champion, whether he wants to admit it or not. Dusty agrees, but also points out that you never want your opponent to see any weaknesses you may have, so even if Shawn is worried about this match he is doing the right thing by not showing it. Shawn enters the ring and poses with the World Title as Tony wonders out loud if this is the last time we will see Shawn Michaels posing with the World Title for a while.

"And introducing next, he is the number one contender to the WCW World Heavyweight Championship; the man called....STING!!!!!!!"

<iframe width="200" height="200" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/TKdA9RqwGSQ?rel=0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/Sting3.jpg

Sting walks out from the back to a HUGE ovation from the sell-out crowd, who is clearly in the Stinger's corner tonight at the Great American Bash. Sting briefly acknowledges the crowd, but then his eyes lock in on Shawn Michaels as he slowly makes his way down the entrance ramp. The announcers talk about how Sting has made it his mission to finally put an end to the nWo, convincing people like Diamond Dallas Page, Booker T, Kanyon and Goldberg to join him in his efforts, and how, for the first time ever, Sting and his allies have put the nWo at a disadvantage. Tony notes that if Sting beats Michaels here tonight, Sting will have taken another huge step toward accomplishing his goal, Mike agrees, and Dusty says that if Sting wins tonight the nWo will have gone 0 and 3 and that could very well spell the beginning of the end for them, or so he hopes. Sting enters the ring and he and Shawn Michaels comes face to face in the middle of the ring as the noise level in the building reaches all new heights in anticipation of what is about to happen.

WCW World Heavyweight Championship

This huge dream match of the ages started off slow as both men were feeling each other out. Collar and elbow tie up in the middle of the ring saw Sting overpower the champion and push him back against the ropes, much to the delight of the fans who cheered loudly as as Michaels seemed to be taken slightly aback by Sting getting the better of him. They locked up again but this time Michaels quickly drove a knee into the midsection of Sting to gain the advantage. Michaels followed up with several hard knife edge chops that echoed throughout the arena....but they seemingly had no effect on Sting whatsoever as Sting just stared at Michaels and then challenged him to bring it! Stunned and surprised, Michaels quickly dropped down and retreated out of the ring, apparently wanting none of Sting at the moment. Sting did his trademark "WOO!" and the fans responded in kind, much to the champion's frustration as Mike Tenay noted that Shawn Michaels already seemed to be losing his cool out here. Michaels got back into the ring and locked up with Sting again, and Sting forced Michaels into the corner where he began to go to work on the champion with a series of punches and kicks that rocked Michaels. Sting maintained control, hitting a trio of dropkicks and bulldog before applying a sleeper hold in the middle of the ring as he slowly began to wear the champion down. Shawn eventually managed to get back to his feet, but his attempt to fight back was cut short when Sting hit a DDT to stall what little momentum Michaels had started to build up. Sting then hit a pair of Stinger Splashes and then began to set up for the Scorpion Deathdrop, but then....

http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/KevinNash2002.jpghttp://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/ScottHall2.jpg

Still looking banged up from their matches earlier, Kevin Nash and Scott Hall came down the entrance ramp and their presence immediately drew Sting's attention as he dropped Michaels and prepared to face the Outsiders. The announcers all complained about how Nash and Hall had no business being out here, but then again when had that ever stopped the nWo in the past? But before the Outsiders made it all the way down to the ring....

http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/BillGoldberg2.jpghttp://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/BookerT.jpg

Goldberg and Booker T ran down the entrance ramp and attacked Nash and Hall! A large number of officials came down to the ring as well and tried to escort the four men to the back, even as they were still fighting, and Tony was heard praising Goldberg and Booker T for coming down here and ensuring that Sting has a level playing field. Meanwhile, back in the ring, Sting turned his attention back to Shawn Michaels but the distraction by Nash and Hall had provided Michaels with enough time to catch his breath and he was ready for Sting when he turned around. Michaels began unloading on Sting with punches and chops, a pair of atomic drops and finally a clothesline that took Sting off his feet and suddenly Michaels found himself in complete control of the match. The champion remained in control for the next several minutes, using a combination of high impact moves and submission holds to wear the challenger down. Michaels then took the fight to the outside where he whipped Sting back-first into the guard rail not once, not twice, but three times. Then he drove Sting's head into the ring apron and rolled him back into the ring. The champion then climbed to the top rope and nailed the flying elbow drop! Michaels covered but Sting kicked out at two. Michaels got back to his feet, grabbed Sting's legs and then a chorus of boos began to fill the sold out arena as Michaels, in a blatant show of disrespect, applied the Sharpshooter--or the Scorpion Deathlock, if you will--on Sting! Michaels urged Sting to tap out while the entire arena cheered Sting on and encouraging him to get to the ropes, which the Stinger eventually did, but Dusty Rhodes wondered if the damage had already been done? Michaels pulled Sting back to his feet and hit a belly to back suplex, which got another two count.

Michaels got back to his feet again and began to "tune up the band" in the corner, waiting for Sting to get back to his feet. Sting slowly got to his feet and Michaels went for the Sweet Chin Music.....but MISSED as Sting managed to get out of the way. Michaels spun around and ran right into a clothesline from Sting. And another one. And another one! After the third clothesline Michaels was finally slower to get up and when he finally did he was immediately taken back down with a russian legsweep. Sting covered, but Michaels kicked out at two. Sting bodyslammed Michaels in the middle of the ring and went for the Scorpion Deatlock, but the champion, realizing what was about to happen, began kicking his legs frantically and just barely managed to escape his fate, at least for the time being. As Sting came for Michaels again, Michaels "accidentally" shoved the referee into Sting, then used the distraction to hit a lowblow on Sting. Michaels followed up with a snap DDT and just like that the champion was back in control. Michaels set up for the Sweet Chin Music again and went for it as soon as Sting got back to his feet....but again Sting managed to avoid it!

SCORPION DEATHDROP!!!!---NOOO!!! MICHAELS REVERSED IT!!!

SWEET CHIN MUSIC!!!!!---NOOO!!! STING AVOIDED IT FOR A THIRD TIME!!!!

SCORPION DEATHDROP!!!!--YES!!! THIS TIME STING CONNECTED!!!

A visibly exhausted Sting dropped into the cover....

Confused at the lack of a three count, Sting looked around and....

http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/KevinNash2002.jpg

Kevin Nash was back at ringside and he had pulled the referee out of the ring and knocked him out, preventing Sting from getting the three count and the win. The fans booed heavily as the announcers wondered how Nash managed to get back out here, but Mike Tenay said that right now it didn't matter because he just screwed Sting out of the World Title! With the referee down, Nash entered the ring and went on the offensive, landing punch after punch on Sting.

http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/BillGoldberg2.jpg

Suddenly Goldberg was in the ring again and he went right after Nash, drawing a huge pop from the crowd as the announcers noted that things were really getting out of hand here at the Bash. The fight between Nash and Goldberg spilled out of the ring and eventually into the crowd as well while both Michaels, Sting and the referee were down. Both Michaels and Sting slowly began to stir and they eventually made their way back to their feet at roughly the same time, both men visibly exhausted. They met in the center of the ring where Sting caught Michaels by surprised, grabbing his legs, dropping him to the mat and quickly locking in the Scorpion Deathlock!!! Michaels strugged against it for a while, but then finally began to tap out! The fans cheered loudly, only to realize that the referee was still down and unable to call for the bell as Tony noted that Sting would have been the World Champion twice now if it hadn't been for Kevin Nash!

http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/ScottHall2.jpg

Scott Hall was suddenly seen running down the entrance ramp again and he slid into the ring unseen by Sting and he blasted Sting in the back of the head, forcing him to release the Deathlock on Michaels as Tony noted that this was absolutely ridiculous! Hall began putting the boots to Sting but then, just as earlier in the match...

http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/BookerT.jpg

Booker T was in the ring and he went right after Hall, but Hall managed to toss something to Michaels before being sent out of the ring by Booker T. Mike Tenay wondered why another referee hadn't been sent out here at this point just as Sting staggered back to his feet. Sting slowly made his way over to Michaels and pulled the seemingly unconscious champion to his feet--only for Michaels to blast Sting in the face with a right handed punch!! Sting went down like he'd been shot and a closeup on Michaels' right hand revealed a pair of brass knuckles, which Tony quickly concluded was what Scott Hall had thrown to him. Sting looked to be out as Michaels slowly crawled into the cover.....

http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/EricBischoff3.jpg

Suddenly the owner of WCW, Eric Bischoff, ran down to the ring wearing a referee shirt and he quickly slid into the ring and began the count....

1.....

2.....

.....3!!!!---NOOOO!!!!!!Sting kicked out and Eric Bischoff couldn't believe it! The announcers talked about how Bischoff could have come down to the ring a long time ago but he conviniently chose to wait until Michaels was in control, though neither of them really seemed to be surprised by Bischoff's antics. Bischoff left the ring, grabbed a steel chair and handed it to Shawn Michaels as the owner, and now match referee, was literally instructing Michaels to use the chair on Sting. Sting slowly got back to his feet and Michaels did exactly that, and the sickening thud of steel against skull echoed loudly throughout the building as Sting collapsed in a heap. Michaels then draped his right arm across Sting's chest as Bischoff made the count....

1.....

2.....

.....3!!!!

Shawn Michaels defeated Sting at 19.45 by pinfall after using a steel chair. Shawn Michaels retains the WCW World Heavyweight Championship (B+)

And with that, and a shot of WCW owner Eric Bischoff smiling as he hands the World Heavyweight Championship to Shawn Michaels, who is still flat on his back in the center of the ring, the Great American Bash comes to an end.

Final Show Rating: B+ (new record)

PPV buyrate: 1.27 (second best behind Bash At The Beach 2001 which did a 1.28)

Wow, nice show. I got most of the predictions wrong, but for the most part, I'll take it.

The Good:

- Booker winning the US title

- Hall/Booker opening the card

- Chavo retaining the title (how long has he held it now??)

- Goldberg winning

The Bad:

- Miss WCW segment (I just can't find myself to care about Shane Douglas)

- Sting losing.

I figured it would be a long shot for Sting to get the title, but I was still holding out hope. The main event was written up very well and it was typical WCW. I suppose your path will now be Goldberg vs HBK. The only card that would be appropriate though would be Starrcade. You've got the nice setup for a long build. Bash at the Beach could be a filler tag match for the main event, depending on what card you go for in August could be the same. Fall Brawl you have a nice build for War Games. You could hold it for Halloween Havoc, but my thought is if you go that far with it, you might as well hold it til Starrcade. Of course, I'm going well over a year in my game with a huge world champion. This is the longest reign I've given someone and have found it's pretty easy to draw out lengthy title reigns.

Halloween Havoc is one of my favorites, but in my opinion it's too close to Starrcade and doesn't give enough time to build appropriately for the biggest show of the year. Either way, you've got a lot of different directions to take.

Also on the show; a huge six man tag team match as "Big Poppa Pump" Scott Steiner teams with The Outsiders to take on Diamond Dallas Page, Booker T and Kanyon, "The Man" Goldberg will be in singles action against Lance Storm, Chavo Guerrero Jr. defends his WCW Cruiserweight Championship against Aguila and much, much more so don't forget to tune in to WCW Monday Nitro!

Hopefully Booker will help raise that US title prestige some more. Great American Bash was a great read, and while I was really pulling for Sting, I knew in the end it had to be Shawn.

After an almost disastrous night, the nWo need a big win.

Wow, nice show. I got most of the predictions wrong, but for the most part, I'll take it.

- Chavo retaining the title (how long has he held it now??)

I very much appreciate the feedback, man. It's always great to hear what people are thinking about the shows. As for Chavo's reign, he has now held the Cruiserweight Title for exactly nine months :)

Hopefully Booker will help raise that US title prestige some more. Great American Bash was a great read, and while I was really pulling for Sting, I knew in the end it had to be Shawn.

As always the feedback is very much appreciated, man. The US Title prestige has been a bit of a rough go. I was very happy with both Storm and Kanyon's reigns but the title prestige didn't quite follow.

And I'll do my best with Johnny The Bull, naturally :D I actually quite liked the Mamalukes as a team so I'm excited to have them back on the roster.

This diary continues to get better! Keep it up buddy!

Thanks, man! :)

- Good luck in your attempt to get the Mamalukes over. I never have been.

Here's hoping I'll have better luck! :)

Also, Nitro is almost done, just got one last seg to write (it's a bit one :D) but I'm aiming to have the show up at some point during the weekend. I also expect to have the prizes sent out by then.

The post-Great American Bash edition of WCW Monday Nitro kicks off as we join Tony Schiavone, Mike Tenay and Dusty Rhodes at the announce table. Tony welcomes everyone to the show and then immediately transitions into talking about last night's Great American Bash pay per view, wasting no time in talking about how Shawn Michaels, the nWo and Eric Bischoff all conspired to keep the World Heavyweight Championship around Michaels' waist, screwing Sting, who rightfully had the match won more than once, over in the process. Mike Tenay agrees with Tony's way of looking at things, saying that there is no doubt that Sting would have been the World Heavyweight Champion right now if it hadn't been for the rest of the nWo, as well as WCW owner Eric Bischoff. Dusty adds that the nWo did what the nWo always does; whatever it takes, and no matter how low. Tony then turns his focus on tonight's show, saying that the building has been buzzing all day over the rumors that Sting is going to confront Shawn Michaels and Eric Bischoff tonight on Nitro, and Tony says that he can't wait to hear what Sting has to say following last night's travesty. We then head down to the ring for our first match of the night.

The opening contest of Monday Nitro is a solid back and forth affair between two men who are both looking to establish more prominent roles for themselves here in WCW. During the match the announcers talk about Rey Misterio's impressive showing in the US Title number one contender battle royal last night at the Great American Bash, saying that Rey seems to be right on the cusp of really making a name for himself in this business. They also talk about the youth, athleticism and raw potential of Mark Jindrak. After more than ten minutes of solid action, Rey Misterio Jr. manages to put Mark Jindrak away with a Springboard Hurricanrana for the win.

We cut to the back where the Tag Team Champions, BG James and Dustin Rhodes, are seen walking as Tony informs us that Joey Styles will be interviewing the champions later tonight on Nitro. Mike Tenay talks about how Sons Of The South defeated the Impact Players last night at the Great American Bash to finally put an end to their long-standing rivalry. Dusty Rhodes then starts to speak but he is quickly cut off as....

http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/BrianAdams2.jpghttp://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/BryanClarke.jpg

The number one contenders to the Tag Team Titles, KroniK, suddenly charges into the camera's view and attacks the champions from behind. The attack is swift and brutal and Adams and Clark utilizes the element of surprise to their full advantage as they beat the champions down to the ground. Satisfied with their work, Adams and Clark walks off as Dusty Rhodes notes that the number one contenders just sent a message to the champions, and he wonders if we might be looking at new Tag Team Champions come Souled out (D)

http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/BigVito.jpghttp://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/JohnnyStamboli.jpgw/http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/Victoria.jpgvs.http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/AirParis.jpghttp://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/MattSydal.jpg

This is not a long or particularly competitive matchup as the Mamalukes makes their return to the WCW roster by putting on a dominant performance against Air Paris and Matt Sydal. Mike notes that the young lady at the Mamalukes side is Antonina Versace, and Antonina spends the majority of the match yelling encouragement to Big Vito and Johnny The Bull from ringside. Paris and Sydal does not get a much offense in at all, and Big Vito eventually hits a Butterfly DDR on Matt Sydal to pick up up the win in an impressive comeback showing by the Mamalukes.

The Mamalukes defeated Matt Sydal and Air Paris at 5.53 by pinfall when Big Vito pinned Matt Sydal following a Butterfly DDT (E+)

http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/RicFlair2.jpg

Once the ring is cleared out, "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair's music hits and "The Nature Boy" himself walks out from the back to boos from the crowd. Flair styles and profiles his way down the entrance ramp and into the ring where he asks for a mic. Flair tells the fans to shut up because "The Nature Boy" has something to say and when "The Nature Boy" speaks EVERYONE better listen up. He says that what he did to Sean O'Haire last night at the Great American Bash was long overdue and he only has one thing to say to those who feel sorry for O'Haire; Sean O'Haire brought his fate upon himself. Flair says that nobody--NOBODY--disrespects "The Nature Boy". NOBODY treats "The Nature Boy" like a bad date. And NOBODY spits in "The Nature Boy"'s face when he offers to help them, which is exactly what O'Haire did. Flair says that he could have taken O'Haire all the way to the top. He could have groomed him into a future WCW World Heavyweight Champion. He could have made it so that the sky was the limit for Sean O'Haire. But now? Now Sean O'Haire will never get to the top of the mountain. Now Sean O'Haire will never know what it's like to be the man. Now there is no longer a World Heavyweight Championship in Sean O'Haire's future--in fact, Sean O'Haire should consider himself lucky if he is even able to get a job sweeping the floors of the locker rooms after "The Nature Boy" gets through with him! (C+)

http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/SeanOHaire2001.jpg

Ric Flair's promo is suddenly cut short when Sean O'Haire's music hits and O'Haire walks out from the back as Tony notes that Ric Flair looks like a man who realizes that he is about to be forced to eat every single word he just said. Sean O'Haire stares at "The Nature Boy" and then starts making his way toward the ring where Flair looks like he is about to have a small heart attack. The crowd seems to be excited with the prospect of seeing Flair get what's coming to him after the Great American Bash, but then...

http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/MikeSanders.jpghttp://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/BamBamBigelow2.jpg

An ambush! Mike Sanders and Bam Bam Bigelow attacks O'Haire from behind, completely blindsiding him and catching him completely by surprise. Sanders and Bigelow puts the boots to O'Haire before pulling him to his feet and driving him back first into the guardrail repeatedly while Flair watches from the ring with a smile on his face. Tony notes that this was an obvious setup by Flair, and Dusty wonders if this means some kind of alliance has been created between Ric Flair, Mike Sanders and Bam Bam Bigelow and if it has, then that is bad news for Sean O'Haire. With O'Haire down, Flair leaves the ring and proceeds to shake hands with both Sanders and Bigelow, and the three of them head to the back as medical staff begin to rush down to check on Sean O'Haire (D+)

WCW Cruiserweight Championship

http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/ChavoGuerreroJr.jpgvs.http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/Aguila.jpg

Aguila looks to start this one off at a quick pace, but Chavo exits the ring as soon as the bell sounds and he takes his time getting back into the ring as he utilizes several different stall tactics. It works well too, until Chavo gets distracted by a fan at ringside who yells some harsh words at the Cruiserweight Champion, and with Chavo's eyes off Aguila, the challenger ran toward the ropes and hit a suicide dive onto Chavo outside the ring to officially kick things off. Chavo is on the defensive side of things for the majority of this one as Aguila seems to have the champion's number tonight. Every time Chavo tries to fight back into the match, Aguila finds a way to stop his momentum before he can ever truly build any. This pattern continues throughout the match and Aguila picks up a handful of two counts, but not that elusive three count that would win him the match and the belt. In the end Chavo Guerrero finds a way to win, like he seemingly always does, and he manages to catch Aguila off guard with a surprise rollup and the champion swiftly places his feet on the middle rope for added leverage, which is enough to steal another win.

Chavo Guerrero Jr. defeated Aguila at 8.35 by pinfall with a surprise rollup while using the ropes for leverage. Chavo Guerrero Jr. retains the WCW Cruiserweight Championship (C-)

As Chavo Guerrero Jr. celebrates yet another successful title defense, Tony says that it is getting ridiculous that Chavo keeps cheating to win, yet WCW owner Eric Bischoff never does a damn thing about it. Mike Tenay fully agrees, while Dusty Rhodes says that while you might not agree with or even like Chavo's tactics, you cannot deny that Chavo Guerrero Jr. knows how to win.

http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/BookerT.jpghttp://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/JeffJarrett.jpghttp://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/CheerleaderMelissa.jpg

We cut to the back where the new WCW United States Champion, Booker T, is getting ready for his match later tonight when Jeff Jarrett and Cheerleader Melissa walks in. Jarrett glances at Booker T's United States Championship and says that he hopes Booker remembers to enjoy his time as champion because it's gonna be short-lived. Jarrett says that he is walking out of Souled Out with that title belt and Booker better get used to that idea because there's not a damn thing he can do about it. Booker says that he has enjoyed every second of being the United States Champion so far, and he'll be ready to defend the title against Jarrett at Souled Out--and he'll defend it successfully and he will beat Jarrett! Jarrett smirks and says that nineteen other guys thought the same thing last night at the Great American Bash....and look how that turned out for them. Booker and Jarrett stares at each other for a few seconds before Jarrett sarcastically wishes Booker T good luck in the main event tonight, and Jarrett and Melissa then walks off as Booker T stares intently after Jarrett and we cut back to the ring (B-)

http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/LanceStorm2.jpgw/http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/TedDiBiase.jpgvs.http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/BillGoldberg2.jpg

Lance Storm puts up a heck of a fight in this one, no doubt fully aware that a win here would put his name on the map big time and would potentially skyrocket him up the card. Storm survives the early dominance of Goldberg, and as soon as Goldberg makes even a slight mistake, the technically gifted Storm is there to take advantage. Storm works on Goldberg's left leg, stretching it every which way and he applies a slew of submission holds as well, all of them focused on the legs of the far more powerful Goldberg. Storm gets a good amount of offense in, but Goldberg manages to turn the tide again by utilizing power moves such as a pumphandle slam, a gutbuster and finally a military press slam. Goldberg then sets up and hits the Spear, then the Jackhammer and it is enough for the win in a great match against a tough opponent in Lance Storm, who put in a great showing.

Goldberg defeated Lance Storm at 11.48 by pinfall with a Jackhammer (B)

A video plays showing highlights from last night's Great American Bash pay per view. The video focuses on the four big matches; Booker T defeating Scott Hall to win the WCW United States Championship, Scott Steiner forcing Diamond Dalls Page to submit to the Steiner Recliner, Goldberg continuing his streak by defeating "Big Sexy" Kevin Nash and, of course, the first ever one on one matchup between Shawn Michaels and Sting. The video ends with a replay of the controversial ending to the World Heavyweight Championship title match, and as we rejoin Tony, Mike and Dusty at the announce table, Tony reminds us that the rumors are still flying around that Sting is going to confront Shawn Michaels tonight, so the viewers have every reason in the world to stay tuned to Monday Nitro (B-)

http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/BookerT.jpghttp://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/DiamondDallasPage.jpghttp://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/ChrisKanyon4.jpgvs.http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/KevinNash2002.jpghttp://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/ScottHall2.jpghttp://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/ScottSteiner.jpg

Most people probably suspected that this one would get out of hand at some point given the men involved, but few would have predicted that it would happen right off the bat, yet that is exactly what happens. As soon as the bell sounds all six men are going at it in the ring. DDP and Steiner are trading blows, Kevin Nash and Booker T are going back and forth and so are Scott Hall and Kanyon. After a few moments the referee is finally able to restore order and we are left with Diamond Dallas Page and Scott Hall to start things off. The match is very even throughout, but after several minutes Scott Steiner and The Outsiders succeed in isolating DDP and Page soaks up a lot of punishment over the next several minutes. There is a reason why DDP is known for his heart and his "never say die" attitude, and Page fights his way back into it and makes the hot tag to Booker T, who comes in and starts unloading on Kevin Nash. Scott Hall is quickly in the ring as well, but Booker nails him as well. The two on one situation does allow Nash to tag in Steiner, who levels Booker T with a stiff clothesline. Steiner and Booker goes at it and Steiner eventually gains the upper hand, but he doesn't notice Kanyon making the blind tag. This allows Kanyon to catch "Big Poppa Pump" off guard with a Kanyon Cutter from out of nowhere! Kanyon covers but Steiner manages to power out after two. Suddenly all six men are in the ring again as the referee loses all control. Booker clotheslines Hall over the top rope and follows after him, but the referee is so busy trying to control things in the ring that he never even sees....

http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/JeffJarrett.jpg

"The Chosen One" Jeff Jarrett make an appearance at ringside and blast Booker T with his patented guitar shot. With Booker T down and out thanks to Jeff Jarrett, it is a three on two situation and The Outsiders quickly make the most of it by pulling DDP out of the ring and double teaming him, leaving Kanyon alone with Scott Steiner in the ring where Kanyon finds himself suffering the same fate as his friend, DDP, did last night at the Great American Bash; Steiner Recliner! Kanyon fights it for a while, but in the end he has no choice but to tap out.

Scott Steiner and the Outsiders defeated Kanyon, Booker T and Diamond Dallas Page at 15.49 by submission when Steiner forced Kanyon to tap out to the Steiner Recliner (B)

Scott Steiner, Kevin Nash and Scott Hall all leave the ring, celebrating their victory as they go. Jeff Jarrett is nowhere to be seen as Diamond Dallas Page checks on both Booker T and Kanyon and the announcers talk about how Jeff Jarrett managed to send a message to the United States Champion tonight, and that message ended up costing Booker, DDP and Kanyon the match.

http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/Sting3.jpg

Once the ring is clear "Seek and Destroy" by Metallica hits and the entire arena erupts with cheers as Sting finally makes an appearance on the show. Sting walks out from the back and heads to the ring, looking very much like a man who is focused on his task at hand here tonight. Tony, Mike and Dusty discuss the situation that unfolded last night at the Great American Bash when Sting had the match won twice only to find himself on the losing side in the end due to Kevin Nash, Scott Hall and WCW owner Eric Bischoff. They also wonder what Sting has to say here tonight following those events and they all agree that they cannot wait to find out. Once in the ring, Sting grabs a mic and says that his goal last night at the Great American Bash was to fight for and win the WCW World Heavyweight Championship...but unfortunately things didn't quite turn out that way. Sting says that he has a few things to say about that, but he wants to say those things to the faces of those who screwed him over last night so he wants Shawn Michaels and Eric Bischoff to come down to the ring and face him RIGHT NOW!!!!!

The crowd cheers again, clearly liking the idea, and after a few moments the all too familiar nWo theme starts playing, bringing out the WCW World Heavyweight Champion and the WCW owner side by side.

http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/ShawnMichaels.jpghttp://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/EricBischoff3.jpg

Shawn Michaels and Eric Bischoff joins Sting in the ring, though both of them look a bit reluctant to do so. With Michaels and Bischoff standing in front of him in the ring, Sting asks them both if they are proud of themselves after last night? Michaels and Bischoff exchange looks and shrugs their shoulders in a "yeah, kinda" way, but Sting then turns and puts all of his attention on Michaels and asks him what he thinks the fans who watched the Great American Bash saw during the main event last night? Does he think they saw "the greatest wrestler alive today"? Does he think they saw a worthy World Heavyweight Champion that they could be proud of? Does he think they even saw a man? The answer to all those questions is no because what the fans saw last night was a person who was so desperate to keep the World Title that he didn't even care how he did it, as long as he did it. They saw a coward who relied on his buddies and the owner of the company to keep the title around his waist because he knew he could not get the job done on his own.

Eric Bischoff then interrupts as says that Shawn Michaels is the WCW World Heavyweight Champion and Sting should treat him with the respect he deserves, but Sting replies that Shawn's actions last night proved that he is not worthy of anyone's respect and he is not worthy of the WCW World Heavyweight Championship. Sting says that Bischoff just never learns, does he? Eric Bischoff has decided that Shawn Michaels is the best World Champion the company can have right now, so he will do anything and everything to make sure he keeps the title. But if Shawn needs the help of Nash, Hall and Bischoff to retain the title, is he really the best champion for the company? Bischoff says that what Sting is talking about is business and he has no clue about what is good business. Finally Shawn Michaels grabs a mic of his own and breaks his silence. Shawn says that there is one thing that Sting needs to understand; Sting keeps talking about how things "should be", but the fact remains that the way things are now is the way things are always going to be and Sting better get used to that idea because there is nothing he can do about it. Shawn says that, to answer Sting's question, what the fans saw last night was Sting getting his World Title opportunity...and failing to make the most of it. That's why he is out here complaining right now; because he couldn't get the job done last night at The Bash. As far as Shawn is concerned he has nothing to prove because when people look in the history books they will see that Shawn Michaels defeated Sting at the Great American Bash and that is never going to change.

Sting then says that if Shawn is truly proud of the way he won the match last night then that's just sad because then Shawn has fallen even further than he had even realized. Sting says that he will offer Michaels one last chance to do the right thing, one last chance to be a man; Shawn Michaels versus Sting for the World Heavyweight Championship at Souled Out!!!! The fans cheer loudly, clearly loving the idea of a rematch, but Shawn says that he has no reason whatsoever to face Sting again because he has already beaten him and now it's time for Sting to go to the back of the line. The crowd boos at Michaels' response, and Eric Bischoff then says that if Sting is so eager for a fight then he's going to give him one. Next week on Monday Nitro it is going to be Sting versus....."Big Poppa Pump" Scott Steiner!!!! And IF Sting somehow manages to win that match then maybe--MAYBE--Bischoff will consider granting the rematch. But if Sting loses he will indeed, as Shawn Michaels just said, go to the very back of the line of challengers.

And with that HUGE announcement made for next week, Monday Nitro comes to an end with a shot of Shawn Michaels and Sting staring each other down in the middle of the ring. (B)
