<p>Reserved 2</p><p> </p><p>

Setting up this meeting was no small feat. Thank goodness Jerry had my back and finally got Jerry Jarrett to give me five minutes of his time. </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Jerry Jarrett:</strong> OK, Lawler tells me he holds you in high esteem. So lets see what you have.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Me:</strong> Thank you sir. Let me pose this question to you. How long do you plan to stay solvent?</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Jerry Jarrett:</strong> Excuse me.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Me:</strong> How long do you plan to stay solvent in this adequated territorial format? </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

Jarrett was about to throw me out I suppose but Lawler nudged him preventing him from saying or doing anything.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Me:</strong> I meant no offense. But the problem is there non the less. In a matter of just five years. We have seen the explosion of the WWF. The rapid growth and the constant roster grabs they perform. This has forced the hand of Jim Crockett as he has taken the same reproach as well. Meanwhile we have seen the deterioration of the AWA of a plausible variant. I know you, Verne Gagne, and Fritz had talked about forming a group together but you cant seem to agree on the details.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Jarrett:</strong> How do you know this?</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Me:</strong> It doesn’t matter. But lets say you finally agree to one, or if not both. Then what? Your in what three, maybe four medium sized markets? At what kind of expense?</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Jerry Jarrett:</strong> What are you getting at?</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Me:</strong> You need a plan. Some backing, and some good old fashioned good luck. I can provide two out of the three. The third we can only hope to stack the deck in our odds.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Jarrett:</strong> I’m listening.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Me:</strong> The plan. We own this area. Plain and simple. We make it so nobody can try to show up because we will out draw them. To do this we must merge our past, with a future we will build. We bring back Austin Idol, Tojo Yamamoto, Dave Brown, among others. Idol can still draw. Tojo still knows how to play the audience. And I’m sorry, I just don’t see Lance Russell with out Dave Brown. And neither will the casual fan. </p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Jarrett:</strong> That’s easy enough. Then what?</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Me:</strong> You listen to me and implement my plan, we both make money. And I’m willing to put my money where my mouth is. You got what, 200K, 225k, at most 250K at your disposal. I’ve got a half million I’m ready to put into an account. I run the show. I lose, you get the money. If I pass, we become partners. </p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Jerry Jarrett:</strong> Lets say I am crazy enough to do this. How do I win again? You just destroyed what I have spent years in building.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Me:</strong> 500k plus your name recognition, I think you’ll be way ahead of the curve now don’t you?</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Jerry Lawler:</strong> Jerry, the man is right and you know it. If Vince calls me up tomorrow and offers me a decent pay check, I’m gone. I'm your top draw right now. I go how soon do you think others are going to follow suit? Then what? Memphis is home to me. But business is business.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

Jerry Jarrett exhales a bit. </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Jerry Jarrett:</strong> How do I know you have the money? How do I know your legit? And if I do let you run the show. I am still the boss. I get final say so.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

I produce a cashier’s check for $500,000.00</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Me:</strong> That should be proof right there I am for real. </p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Jerry Jarrett:</strong> I don’t want this company to fall in stature during this test. If we do, this experiment is done.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Me:</strong> Fair enough.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Jerry Jarrett:</strong> No cruiserweights, no luchadors, no Japanese juniors either.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Me:</strong> And with that I can assume we are partners?</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Jerry Jarrett:</strong> You brought in a shark didn’t you Lawler?</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Jerry Lawler:</strong> I told you this man had some crazy ideas. Next thing you know you might actually make a buck or two.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Jerry Lawler:</strong> OK now what?</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Me:</strong> Here is a list of people I want brought in. Here is a list ideas on what I would like to have happen over the next couple of weeks. I know it may be late, but see if we can book an event sometime in the last week of the month. We might need that extra gate to help pay for a good chunk of this month.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Jerry Jarrett:</strong> And what are you going to do.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Me:</strong> Going to Stamford and Charlotte.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Jerry Jarrett:</strong> For what?</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Me:</strong> See if I can stack the deck.</p>

<p><strong>Jerry Jarrett:</strong> How did it go?</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Me:</strong> Struck gold in both.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Jerry Jarrett:</strong> What?</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Me:</strong> It isn’t a permanent solution. But it does buy us some time. Thought I could get one, but must have caught Vince in a great mood because he agreed as well.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Jerry Jarrett:</strong> On what? </p><p> </p><p> <strong>Me:</strong> Jim and Vince agreed to let us be. Neither will poach our roster for the time being. We have a working arrangement in place. </p><p> </p><p> <strong>Jerry Jarrett:</strong> I don’t want to know how you did that do I?</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Me:</strong> I won’t come back on you. If it works it my bridge that gets burned not yours. Did you have any success on your front?</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Jerry Jarrett:</strong> We seem to be batting a hundred. Everybody agreed to sign. But I have to say I think your going to be sorry. The expense report is looking rather large. </p><p> </p><p> <strong>Me:</strong> Planned on that. That’s why that extra show could help us with the gate. If not we still have some time.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Jarrett:</strong> Now what’s the next step?</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Me:</strong> I need everybody there tomorrow that has ever sat in on a booking decision. I need a pulse taken on some ideas and these guys have the experience. I’m not too proud to listen to experience. But if anything it will give us a chance to be on the same page. And to smoke out who is going to be a problem. Got another small list of people to bring in.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Jerry Jarrett:</strong> The rate you’re offering contracts here, this is going to be the quickest 500K I have ever made.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Me:</strong> We will see about that. Until then grab a pencil.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="Matt Shannon" data-cite="Matt Shannon" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="36760" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>Can't wait to see what you do with the Memphis territory. I'll be following. ^_^</div></blockquote><p> </p><p> Thanks Matt. I believe this is your mod as well. First time using it. Been wanting to do Memphis for years. I tried it a few years back and but it fell flat. So lets see where this goes and have a good time.</p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="RingRider" data-cite="RingRider" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="36760" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>I'm excited for this! Coop's WCW 2001 diary was great and I was really hoping to see it keep going. I'm willing to see some Memphis action instead though!</div></blockquote><p> </p><p> Thanks Rider. Hope this goes a lot longer than that. I get to down on myself and think I put out crap then shut it down. Really hope I do Memphis right. A lot of my memory from these years are fuzzy. </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> I do have a couple of show wrote. May post one tomorrow. Will be offering prediction contests after the first couple of shows. Try and let you get a feel for where I am going hopefully. Until then, thanks for the support guys.</p>

Announce Team: Lance Russell and Dave Brown

http://imageshack.us/a/img51/1678/3u1z.jpghttp://imageshack.us/a/img9/5959/9kkj.jpg

Lance Russell and Dave Brown welcome us to the show. They announce a #1 contender match tonight between The Rock and Roll Express and Badd Company for later tonight. Eddie Gilbert makes his way down to interrupt them. He goes on to tell us he is tired of being over looked. Jerry “The King” Lawler is ancient history.

http://imageshack.us/a/img12/9857/dbjh.jpg

Eddie: You’re looking at the future king of Memphis right now. And you all are about to find out. Why they call me the next big thing. Bring out my man!

http://imageshack.us/a/img12/9857/dbjh.jpghttp://imageshack.us/a/img812/2908/rwgw.jpghttp://imageshack.us/a/img40/4382/hirt.jpg

Eddie Gilbert VS Steve Keirn

Eddie begins to jaw away at the fans as Steve Keirn is announces. The two go face to face and begin to yell at one another. Slap by Eddie and Steve is fired up now. Steve chases Eddie around the ring as Eddie begins to apologize and extends a hand to Keirn. Keirn with a kick ends that. The two go back and forth but Eddie with a rollup and a hand full of tights picks up the win at 7:31.

http://imageshack.us/a/img40/4382/hirt.jpghttp://imageshack.us/a/img12/9857/dbjh.jpg

Steve is mad as hell as he knows Eddie had the tights held. Eddie is full of himself and gloats. Steve goes on a rampage and fires away on Eddie as Jerry Calhoun tries to pull him off. Steve pushes Jerry out of the way and goes back to work on Eddie. FIREBALL! By Eddie drops Steve. There is a slight smell of burnt hair now as Eddie begins to stomp away on Steve.

http://imageshack.us/a/img268/7193/f4j8.jpg

The crowd comes alive as Jeff Jarrett charges in fires away on Eddie Gilbert. Dropkick by Jarrett sends Eddie out of the ring and he gets out of Dodge. Jarrett and Jerry Calhoun attend to Steve Keirn as we go to a commercial break.

***Commercial Break***

Manny Fernandez VS Owen Hart

Dave and Lance tell us this is indeed the brother of Bret Hart in the WWF. Hart puts on a good showing here as he utilizes his speed to it fullest. But Fernandez is to big and has a lot more experience than Owen right now and puts the match away with his Flying Burrito at 6:29

A pre taped video plays. We see a tall blonde haired man with his back turned to us. He turns around.

http://imageshack.us/a/img32/3469/67q3.jpg

Austin Idol: That’s right baby! Idol mania has returned to the Memphis area. And daddy, I’m looking for a match later today. Eddie Marlin, you and I have got some talking to do.

***Commercial Break***

http://imageshack.us/a/img713/9387/ba2d.jpghttp://imageshack.us/a/img51/1678/3u1z.jpghttp://imageshack.us/a/img9/5959/9kkj.jpg

We come back and find Austin Idol isn’t the only one who is making a return to the area. Tojo Yamamoto is back as well. He tells us in broken English that it is an honorable return. But the next couple of weeks he will be bringing and mighty army with him. An army that will take over Memphis. And not even the King himself can stop this army.

http://imageshack.us/a/img844/7409/z7ck.jpghttp://imageshack.us/a/img27/8122/11qv.jpghttp://imageshack.us/a/img812/2908/rwgw.jpghttp://imageshack.us/a/img27/8122/11qv.jpghttp://imageshack.us/a/img545/967/e21r.jpg

Billy Joe Travis and Don Bass VS King Cobra and Lou Winston

Solid bout with plenty of action. Nobody really had a clear advantage but a running clothesline by Billy Joe Travis on Lou Winston ends the match.

http://imageshack.us/a/img34/521/93nz.jpghttp://imageshack.us/a/img849/6861/5s4l.jpghttp://imageshack.us/a/img41/9329/k9p9.jpghttp://imageshack.us/a/img30/3231/rjsb.jpg

Diamond Dallas Page comes out with Badd Company and a tall biker man. Page tells us he is not pleased to be in Memphis. The only thing that will make him feel better is for the next CWA tag team to win tonight.

DDP: Listen up monkeys. All you scum here in Memphis are gonna be treated to a massacre tonight. The end of Rock and Roll is upon us. And my big man here Mark is here to insure this. And there is nothing you monkeys can do about it.

***Commercial Break***

http://imageshack.us/a/img707/1184/zzjd.jpghttp://imageshack.us/a/img812/2908/rwgw.jpghttp://imageshack.us/a/img46/1038/hwxr.jpg

Jimmy Jack Funk VS Skip Young

Skip and Funk tie up and early on its Skip with a few arm drag takedowns controls the match early. Funk has Skip in the ropes and knees him a few times in the gut. Leapfrog by Skip, followed with a dropkick stuns Funk. Skip begins to go up the top turnbuckle but Jerry reminds him it’s an automatic DQ if he does anything up there. Skip drops to the second turnbuckle and hit’s a missile dropkick to end the match.

http://imageshack.us/a/img703/2857/2c9m.jpg

Brickhouse Brown: So the king of the crackers wants a match tonight? Well son you ain’t gotta look hard. I’m ready for a fight. Are you?

***Commercial Break***

http://imageshack.us/a/img41/9329/k9p9.jpghttp://imageshack.us/a/img849/6861/5s4l.jpghttp://imageshack.us/a/img34/521/93nz.jpghttp://imageshack.us/a/img30/3231/rjsb.jpghttp://imageshack.us/a/img812/2908/rwgw.jpghttp://imageshack.us/a/img716/927/z2le.jpghttp://imageshack.us/a/img513/7396/y1s5.jpg

Badd Company W/ Dallas Page and Mean Mark VS The Rock and Roll Express

Dallas Page goes back and forth from the announcer’s desk and the ring as he is still complaining about being in Memphis. Mean Mark patrols the outside and provides distraction to Ricky and Robert. Very good match inside the ring as this was a classic tag team match with plenty of quick tags by both sides. Page and Mean Mark end up crossing up Pat Tanaka as he freezes long enough for Ricky Morton to be tagged in. Robert Gibson takes out Paul Diamond, Mean Mark, and Dallas with a suicide dive out of the ring allowing Ricky to pin Pat Tanaka as The Rock and Roll Express are the new #1 contenders to Gary Young and Max Head’s CWA Tag Belts.

http://imageshack.us/a/img716/927/z2le.jpghttp://imageshack.us/a/img513/7396/y1s5.jpghttp://imageshack.us/a/img209/7761/qelb.jpghttp://imageshack.us/a/img856/7935/blrx.jpg

Page and crew leave the ring area as Ricky and Robert celebrate. Gary Young and Max Payne dive into the ring a brawl erupts. Just as the champions begin to control the fight. A horde of workers in the back come in and separate the two teams.

***Commercial Break***

http://imageshack.us/a/img32/3469/67q3.jpghttp://imageshack.us/a/img812/2908/rwgw.jpghttp://imageshack.us/a/img703/2857/2c9m.jpg

Austin Idol VS Brickhouse Brown

This was more of a fight than anything else. Idol wanting to pick an important win in his return to Memphis. Brickhouse determined to not to lose. The pace picks up as both men look to put one another away when an individual slides into the ring and waffles Idol with a chair. He then uses the same chair to swing at Brickhouse but he ducks under it and leaves the ring in a hurry. Crash another chair shot as he slams the chair down.

http://imageshack.us/a/img109/2303/am9c.jpg

BANG! BANG! Again backstage workers come into the ring but this man slides out of the ring before they can come in.

http://imageshack.us/a/img51/1678/3u1z.jpghttp://imageshack.us/a/img9/5959/9kkj.jpg

Who is this guy? What the heck is going on? I’m Lance Russell, and for myself and Dave Brown. We will see you next time for some great CWA wrestling action.

Good luck with this! A lot of talent on that roster to work with if you can keep the poachers at bay!

Thank you sir. Between you and your diary partner you two have kind of inspired me to start writing again. Love this period. Hope to have half the success you two are going to have. Hope you enjoyed it.

Does Dave Brown know the definition of a windjamm-*shot*

Good stuff, and it'll be neat to see if you hit the future feuds in the present, even if the workers involved such as Cactus and Taker are as green as pine needles(I think they are anyways.....which mod is this again?).

I hope we're not the only ones who get the windjammer bit. :D

And it's my February 1988 Main Event mod. I may have overrated Taker a bit considering I set his potential to Excellent, but I was also trying to account that he had been working for about three years up to that point. May have overrated Mick a bit too. Then again, that is subjective.

Mick's stats:

Microphone- 70

Charisma- 69

Acting- 68

Brawling- 84

Hardcore- 84

Selling- 84

Basics- 72

Psychology- 70

I know I definitely overrated his Star Quality stat, which I'll address in my January 1985 mod, Risky Business.

Taker's stats:

Microphone- 71

Charisma- 81

Acting- 81

Brawling- 75

Hardcore- 63

With Taker, I was trying to take into account that it wasn't long before the big leagues took notice of him, while keeping his Hardcore low since he didn't really need it until the Attitude Era.

"Facepalm" You two are to much. LOL.

In a bout that had great heat and good action, Austin Idol defeated Brickhouse Brown in 10:27 when Brickhouse Brown was disqualified when Cactus Jack ran in and attacked Austin Idol.

Nothing else to really go over. We all seem to be on the same page. Nobody is griping backstage as far as one can tell. Jarrett is complaining about the money. It does need to be watched, just not a concern right now.

Lawler: You know, I cant help to think you screwed me when Vince and Crocket signed those working deals with you. I could of made a lot of money.

Me: Your going to make a lot any ways. Look Jerry, if one calls your going to be working an extra show if not two. There is your written contract money right there. If both call, I’m sure there will be a bidding battle for your services, so there is some extra money.

Lawler: Didn’t think about that.

Me: I don’t want you to leave. But I gave you an opportunity to not worry about a thing. I don’t want to make you stay either. You got to do what is best. This door will always be open.

Eddie Gilbert is out and along side him is Missy Hyatt. Eddie says what happened last week was just a gross misunderstanding. He admits he is wrong and calls out Jeff Jarrett.

Eddie: Come on out boy. This is just one big misunderstanding on my part. I want to be man enough and say it to your face.

http://imageshack.us/a/img268/7193/f4j8.jpg

Jeff Jarrett comes out he has his guard up. He says there is no misunderstanding. Eddie is just being a big jerk like usual. Eddie and Missy try and smooth things over saying there is no need for name calling. Jeff was about to answer when Eddie trys to sucker punch Jeff. Jarrett saw it coming and dodges the punch, but not before connecting with one of his own. The two go back and forth but Eddie has had enough and runs away with Missy in tow. Jarrett is still fired up but does not go after Eddie.

The Bruise Brothers VS The Rock and Roll Express

Don and Ron Harris are diffently the more powerful of the two teams. But it’s the quickness and experience of Ricky and Robert that prevails today. Ron Harris gets isolated and Ricky hit’s a missile dropkick to pick up the win at 8:15.

Austin Idol is out at the announcers table. He says what a heck of a debut last week. He has been here long enough for his cup of coffee to get cold, and already somebody is trying to pick a fight with him. But that’s ok. He is back in Memphis. And there are always the lovely ladies in Memphis.

Idol: Ladies, the Universal Hearthrob is back home. Now if you will excuse me. I’ve got some business in the ring to attend to.

http://imageshack.us/a/img109/2303/am9c.jpg

But before he can go. The unknown man comes in from behind and lays out Idol again with a chair. Idol is on the floor as this man drops an elbow on him now. He gets back up, BANG! BANG! Before help can arrive he leaves just as fast as he came.

Lance Russell: Can we get some security around here? We will be right back after this break.

CWA World Tag Team match

Bob Holly and Owen Hart VS Gary Young and Maxx Payne ©

This marks the first time these two have tagged together. Owen looked good last week. Let’s see if the two youngsters can pull off an up set against the tag champs? And for a few moments the two did like impressive. They had remarkable chemistry for not tagging together. The two youngsters do what they can to keep Maxx Payne away from his partner. But eventually the tag is made the tag champions show us why they are the champs. Gary Young puts Bob Holly away with a Piledriver at 8:28 in the match. After words Gary and Maxx toss out Bob Holley and Owen Hart before celebrating.

A video plays with Buddy Landel appears. Buddy tells us that the real nature boy is coming into Memphis. Not that other imposter. But The Nature Boy Buddy Landel.

Fred Ottman VS Manny Fernandez

And we get another Memphis rookie here. Lance and Dave are impressed with the girth of Fred Ottman. Manny Fernandez goes right to work on the young Ottman pummeling him in the corner. Manny goes to fire Fred into the corner but that is reversed. Fred charges into the corner and hits huge avalanche. We might have an upset here, proclaim Dave Brown. Fred fires Manny into the ropes and Manny bounces off the ropes and hit’s the Flying Burrito. 1,2,3 and this one is over 5:50.

Dallas Page along with Badd Company appears next. In tow is the large Mark Callous.

DDP: Listen up now. It’s the chairman of the board of the Diamond Exchange. Those monkeys, the Rock N Roll Express pulled a fast on us last week. But this team is B.A. Double d, Badd Company for a reason. And you inbreds are gonna see first hand why this is the premier tag team in the world right now.

Badd Company W/ Dallas Page and Mark Callous VS Scott Steiner and Skip Young

Scott and Skip put up a valiant effort. But something just didn’t click with these two. They just seemed to be a hair off, from tag ins, to double team moves. Neither unsure of what the other was going to do. In the end the constant distractions from Dallas Page and Mark Callous took a toll on the two and Pat Tanaka wins the match with a body guillotine.

Billy Joe Travis, Brickhouse Brown and Don Bass VS Tommy Rich and Bill Dundee & Jerry Lawler

Bill, Jerry and Tommy really had the match well in hand early on. They looked as if they were just going on cruise control as they had Billy Joe isolated and he took a lot of punishment. A low blow by Billy and the momentum shifted hard. Brickhouse Brown was in a particular nasty mood as he was beating up of Bill Dundee. Don Bass was brought in and he continued the heavy blows. Dundee how ever scurried under Bass’s legs and tagged in Tommy Rich who lived up to his Wildfire nickname. The end saw Billy Joe Travis again being on the receiving end of the punishment. A second turnbuckle fist drop by Lawler and this one is over.

Lance Russell: What a match. And what a night of action this was. I’m Lance Russell and for myself and Dave Brown. We will see you next week.

I hate to drop a, "I like what you're doing, keep up the good work" post on you. However, I do like what you are doing so I might as well say it.

I like that you chose the CWA as your company as it allows us the readers to read about different talent that we might not have had the chance to see in real life. I mean I know most of your workers but it is a refreshing change of pace to see a diary from this time period that is not an NWA or WWF diary.
